he has started the game well. Zeca knew exactly what he was doing

:00:00.:00:00.

because he was beaten for pace. An easy decision for the referee to

:00:07.:00:10.

give the yellow card. It is one thing to say to a senior side, be

:00:11.:00:15.

cool and manage the game and do the right things, but these are players

:00:16.:00:22.

of 19, 20, 21 years old. It is not quite as easy to be as cool under

:00:23.:00:26.

pressure. Can they defend this free kick? They almost don't. It clips

:00:27.:00:33.

the frame of the goal for a second time, I think it was Suele who got a

:00:34.:00:38.

touch, deflected on the way through. I think it came off Marquinhos in

:00:39.:00:41.

the end, he diverted over his crossbar. Excellent movement from

:00:42.:00:51.

Selke, but they get away with it, Brazil. And another terrific save!

:00:52.:01:01.

Ginter, tries to get the rebound in, and again Weverton comes to the

:01:02.:01:12.

rescue! A couple of a fight. So. -- a couple of vital stops. The

:01:13.:01:19.

awareness and division and the technique. Excellent striking, good

:01:20.:01:21.

from Weverton. You can hear the screaming audibly

:01:22.:01:34.

around the Maracana as it looked like Germany would going to draw

:01:35.:01:40.

level. It is a fabulous occasion, it really years. He did well, Weverton,

:01:41.:01:48.

to get some power and palm it away. He didn't leave an easy tap in for

:01:49.:01:54.

the Germans. They couldn't adjust their feet and get the strike on

:01:55.:02:03.

target. It looked as though Ginter might be despatching the rebound but

:02:04.:02:07.

he didn't get the connection on the ball.

:02:08.:02:20.

That is a foul and a free kick to Germany. It is a good five minutes

:02:21.:02:26.

since they conceded the goal. They've got to be careful, Brazil.

:02:27.:02:32.

Going in front is great but they are retreating too deep, allowing too

:02:33.:02:37.

much pressure. And we've spoken about the quality within this German

:02:38.:02:41.

side, they could hurt Brazil if they continued to drop deep like this. It

:02:42.:02:47.

is an easy thing to say but the Brazilian players can't afford to

:02:48.:02:51.

get wrapped up in the atmosphere, in the occasion. They've got to keep

:02:52.:02:53.

focused. There are five players in advanced

:02:54.:03:17.

positions but the pass was not good enough. Toljan intervenes for

:03:18.:03:24.

Germany. He chose the wrong option. There was Neymar in the middle,

:03:25.:03:29.

there was a great chance for Luan to pick him out. It is so frenetic, all

:03:30.:03:36.

a little bit lasted. The intensity is so apparent.

:03:37.:03:43.

That is a foul right on the edge of the area, Gabriel Jesus diving in. I

:03:44.:03:51.

can see the referee giving another card out here. He's high, Gabriel

:03:52.:03:58.

Jesus. He's late, he's from behind, poor challenge from him. This is a

:03:59.:04:04.

chance for Germany. They are excellent from set plays. I think

:04:05.:04:09.

Meyer will be on them and with the power and strength in the air they

:04:10.:04:13.

have, the Germans, it is a real opportunity for them.

:04:14.:04:22.

If Germany were to equalise, it would be difficult to say they

:04:23.:04:29.

haven't deserved it. Hrubesch would be delighted with the response from

:04:30.:04:34.

his players. It hits the frame of the girl again!

:04:35.:04:49.

Well, Sven Bender stooped, flicked it goal bound, couldn't score. It is

:04:50.:04:58.

a well played free kick. It is the movement from Sven Bender, getting

:04:59.:05:05.

across Augusto, trying to get the header downwards, he can't. So

:05:06.:05:14.

unlucky to hit the crossbar. Brazil might be in front, but Germany have

:05:15.:05:18.

had better efforts and have hit the frame of the goal on three

:05:19.:05:24.

opportunities. It has been a superb opening 35 minutes. Germany have had

:05:25.:05:31.

their chances but Brazil are a real threat when they get into this sort

:05:32.:05:32.

of area. A real excellent injection of pace

:05:33.:06:00.

by the role Wideman, Gabriel Barbosa and Gabriel Jesus. It is the little

:06:01.:06:08.

one tos they play, it is difficult for the German defenders to track

:06:09.:06:14.

their runs. As you saw, there are pockets of German supporters, but,

:06:15.:06:20.

as you can understand, they are enormously outnumbered.

:06:21.:06:50.

Not really had a sustained spell of possession since they took the lead,

:06:51.:06:56.

have they, Brazil? They are settling the game down here. It is a more

:06:57.:07:03.

experienced Renato Augusto, he is settling the players down. A little

:07:04.:07:07.

bit of possession won't do them any harm. Renato Augusto spent four

:07:08.:07:13.

years in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen. 28 years old now.

:07:14.:07:22.

Current Brazilian international. So much depends on the likes of him and

:07:23.:07:28.

obviously Neymar, but particularly Renato Augusto now they are in front

:07:29.:07:33.

to try to keep the emotions of the younger players from getting carried

:07:34.:07:39.

away. Another Mexican wave breaks out. Still not afraid of sending

:07:40.:07:45.

bodies forward, the Brazilians. Santos getting forward beyond Luan

:07:46.:07:51.

and Luan should have picked him up because it was a real chance to pick

:07:52.:07:55.

the left-back and get into a good position.

:07:56.:08:27.

This is what they needed to do in the minute straight after they took

:08:28.:08:33.

the lead, Brazil, but Germany didn't let them. It is an excellent spell

:08:34.:08:39.

of possession for Brazil. Free kick to Germany. Neymar on Sule. What a

:08:40.:08:52.

goal, super goal. Did it get a slight touch coming over? It was the

:08:53.:08:58.

pace and power on the strike that beat him. It is precision, such a

:08:59.:09:00.

fabulous goal. Could have done better from that

:09:01.:09:23.

position, Germany. Yes, that is Brazil again, becoming exposed,

:09:24.:09:28.

sending bodies forward which gives a chance for Meyer to pick out Gnabry.

:09:29.:09:33.

His chosen the wrong option in picking out Selke. Two bronze medals

:09:34.:09:42.

is all Germany have managed throughout their many years of

:09:43.:09:45.

attempting to win the Olympic football tournament. They had a

:09:46.:09:50.

dreadful spell at not being able to even qualify for the Olympic

:09:51.:09:57.

tournament. Prior to this, the last participation was in Seoul in 1988.

:09:58.:10:04.

Luan tries to tiptoe his way through and he wins a corner. That's the

:10:05.:10:12.

movement I spoke about, with Neymar and Luan, they interchange positions

:10:13.:10:18.

very well. Luan recognised there was space centrally. Just couldn't quite

:10:19.:10:25.

get the strike away, and it was good defending from Ginter in the end.

:10:26.:10:37.

Playing his part in geeing up the Maracana.

:10:38.:10:54.

They love that! No end product, but he is a showman, and he is on one of

:10:55.:11:04.

the biggest stages of all. Probably a little early for his tricks. We

:11:05.:11:09.

need the second goal before, then I'm sure they will see the party

:11:10.:11:12.

pieces coming out. One or two teams might have started

:11:13.:11:43.

to capitulate with the momentum that was building up and the atmosphere

:11:44.:11:49.

in the stadium against them. This German side are magnificent. Their

:11:50.:11:54.

character and question. That deflected shot made it easy for

:11:55.:12:00.

Weverton together. He is a threat, Meyer, centrally. It was a good

:12:01.:12:09.

block from Koster. He didn't deal with it in the most comfortable of

:12:10.:12:13.

manner but he managed to keep it from going over the line. Took it

:12:14.:12:20.

very close to the line. He recognised it was backing off. He

:12:21.:12:24.

knew he was going to be travelling back towards his own goal line so he

:12:25.:12:29.

had the presence to palm the ball in front of the line. A couple of

:12:30.:12:38.

glimpses of the Brazilian coach. He has been coaching for many years in

:12:39.:12:46.

Brazil, almost always youth teams, under 20, U21. And the under 23s.

:12:47.:12:54.

Not one of the more high-profile coaches but he will have the freedom

:12:55.:12:59.

of Brazil if he can guide his side to their first ever Olympic gold

:13:00.:13:08.

medal. Extremely impressed with this man, Renato Augusto. He has settled

:13:09.:13:13.

them down when it looked like they would getting back on top, Germany,

:13:14.:13:18.

after conceding. He has settled Brazil down and slowed the game down

:13:19.:13:27.

a little. It's worth reminding, 12 goals in five games prior to this

:13:28.:13:32.

game, yet to concede in 43.5 minutes as well. They could keep another

:13:33.:13:41.

clean sheet. And get the gold medal. That would be some achievement if

:13:42.:13:44.

you can win the tournament without conceding. Particularly with the

:13:45.:13:52.

sides they've played against. Yellow card for Gabriel Barbosa. Just for

:13:53.:13:58.

the way in which he held Sven Bender back. Has the nickname Gabby goal.

:13:59.:14:05.

He so far has two in the tournament. The goal was on the 27th minute and

:14:06.:14:22.

since then Germany have been arguably the better side. I think we

:14:23.:14:29.

feel they could and should have equalised. Timo Horn hasn't had too

:14:30.:14:37.

much to do, in reality. The only other chance was Luan with the

:14:38.:14:44.

crossing, and Douglas Santos getting forward. Germany have had some good

:14:45.:14:48.

chances themselves. They've hit the woodwork twice.

:14:49.:14:55.

It is a late one but the referee has let it go or he didn't see it.

:14:56.:15:10.

Klostermann. Bender. Meyer Full. Ginter. Toljan. Young players,

:15:11.:15:35.

ostensibly, this German side, but the way in which they have quelled

:15:36.:15:41.

the sphere has been so admirable. There is Neymar. Terrific ball. No

:15:42.:15:51.

offside. Gabriel Barbosa, was he caught by Klostermann? Yes, says the

:15:52.:15:57.

referee. He did all the hard work, Klostermann. Gabriel Barbosa had the

:15:58.:16:01.

run of him, brilliant awareness from Neymar to pick him out, superb pace

:16:02.:16:08.

from Klostermann to get back, he did not need to commit to the challenge,

:16:09.:16:15.

it is a chance here for Brazil. Only one minute of added time and we are

:16:16.:16:18.

now entering the second minute of it, so it will literally be this

:16:19.:16:24.

free kick dispatched into the area and then the consequences of it,

:16:25.:16:31.

then the referee will blow. You imagine if Brazil can get second

:16:32.:16:43.

here... Headed our way. The referee blows his whistle. A magnificent

:16:44.:16:47.

first half. Exactly what the script writers wanted. Brazil in front, and

:16:48.:16:53.

Neymar the goal-scorer, from a free kick. So much to admire from both

:16:54.:16:58.

teams. Germany have hit the frame of the goal on a couple of occasions,

:16:59.:17:03.

this is far from over, Brazil 1-0 Germany.

:17:04.:17:08.

We shall we join them for the second half of on BBC Two. Here on BBC

:17:09.:17:19.

4-wheel something else in store. Later tonight, live on BBC Four, 1am

:17:20.:17:30.

the bronze medal matches in the tae kwon do. Bianca Walton lost her

:17:31.:17:34.

semifinal but can still win a bronze medal, and also, Mohammed Cho, in

:17:35.:17:41.

the same situation going for a bronze medal in the tae kwon do.

:17:42.:17:51.

Meantime, we have a little treat for you. Can we have a huge round of

:17:52.:17:59.

applause for gold hockey stars? Last night they did something incredible

:18:00.:18:10.

and won a gold medal for Team GB. Have you stopped in the last 24

:18:11.:18:15.

hours? It has been a whirlwind. Not had much sleep whatsoever. What time

:18:16.:18:23.

did you try to get to sleep? About four a.m.. It is a moment which may

:18:24.:18:30.

never happen again in your life, so you have got to enjoy it, haven't

:18:31.:18:36.

you? It does not come around often and we are the first great British

:18:37.:18:39.

women's hockey team to reach the final and win the gold medal so it

:18:40.:18:44.

is something special which we will all treasure and have memories for

:18:45.:18:47.

life so, yeah, we just went a bit crazy last night and enjoyed every

:18:48.:18:52.

moment. We have loads of questions from our viewers and will get to

:18:53.:18:56.

them in a moment. But Sophie, the way that you want it, to be down on

:18:57.:19:01.

a number of occasions and comeback against the top ranked team in the

:19:02.:19:06.

world and take it to penalties, then the drama, 10 million people were

:19:07.:19:10.

watching you on BBC One. It was incredible to find that out. We went

:19:11.:19:16.

behind a couple of times but kept on bringing it back. We knew when the

:19:17.:19:20.

final whistle went and it was going to a shoot out that it would be our

:19:21.:19:26.

time. Maddie was exceptional in goals, and Holly calmly finished it

:19:27.:19:33.

off for us. I was trying to get the hash tag going yesterday, because

:19:34.:19:41.

Maddie was just outstanding. In a penalty situation in whatever sport,

:19:42.:19:45.

the goalkeeper is essential, but he had a wonderful night. We are so

:19:46.:19:52.

blessed to have four goalkeepers on the programme, and we are so blessed

:19:53.:19:57.

they are such great goalkeepers, and she is one of them, an absolute

:19:58.:20:03.

star. She does her homework, she is so diligent, and just having her

:20:04.:20:07.

behind you, you can afford to give them a few chances because she would

:20:08.:20:12.

keep them out. I don't know if you have seen the pictures everybody is

:20:13.:20:15.

looking at of the stuff she has on her water bottle? The last thing, in

:20:16.:20:24.

big letters, says, stay big. Chin up, and the numbers of various

:20:25.:20:27.

penalty takers, and who to watch out for a short corners... She does her

:20:28.:20:34.

homework, she is really in depth. They are the key points for her to

:20:35.:20:39.

focus on, to keep her calm and objective and not emotional, but she

:20:40.:20:44.

really does her homework. And she really helps these guys take their

:20:45.:20:48.

penalty shuffles. She tells them what the opponents do, what they

:20:49.:20:52.

favour in goal, and they work of that and try to score. So it works

:20:53.:20:57.

both ways in defence and attack. Would you like to see your winning

:20:58.:21:04.

penalty again? I am sure you would. Holly, talk us through what we

:21:05.:21:07.

through your head before taking this. Before taking it I am just

:21:08.:21:10.

trying to think of all the training we have done. The celebrations were

:21:11.:21:18.

crazy, I did not know what to do. I am just trying to imagine that I am

:21:19.:21:23.

training with low ones there, it is not an Olympic final, and I don't

:21:24.:21:27.

have too score to win. So you were quite calm? Thinking back, I don't

:21:28.:21:34.

know how I was so calm, it was a little bubble, it was so weird, the

:21:35.:21:39.

five of us taking them, we stood there, and even though we missed and

:21:40.:21:44.

they saved, we still believed that we were definitely going to win the

:21:45.:21:48.

shuffles. I don't know where it came from. There was not any doubt? You

:21:49.:21:55.

were really confident? Not at all. Yeah, yeah. It is amazing that you

:21:56.:22:01.

felt that way. Where did it come from? Team spirit or believe in each

:22:02.:22:06.

other? Last summer at the European Championships we took the Dutch to a

:22:07.:22:11.

shoot out. I think we practised for them a lot, and it is the belief

:22:12.:22:18.

within the team, and, yeah, I think that. How fast did you run from

:22:19.:22:25.

the...? We were not wearing GPS so we don't know for certain but it was

:22:26.:22:30.

a good old sprint. That is the highest I have ever jumped in

:22:31.:22:34.

celebration. What was lovely about that moment, and you prepare your

:22:35.:22:38.

whole life for that, but you never go through, when we win, what do I

:22:39.:22:45.

do? So everything just comes... It was a blur. Everything just seemed

:22:46.:22:49.

to stop. I did not know what to do so I just stood there and jumped

:22:50.:22:53.

around and waited for them all. At what age did you all start actually

:22:54.:22:57.

playing hockey? School or after that? School. I started when I was

:22:58.:23:05.

roughly seven. So a long time, over 20 years ago. I was 12. Secondary

:23:06.:23:13.

school. I was eight, at a local hockey club. Quite a few people want

:23:14.:23:19.

to know about your nickname, the baby faced assassin. Who started it

:23:20.:23:23.

and do you like it? I can't remember, I think it might have been

:23:24.:23:28.

a few girls from the U21 team, when I played for them I was quite young

:23:29.:23:32.

and still looked quite young, so it kind of stock. Do you actually call

:23:33.:23:40.

her that? No, I think you have grown out of it now. You have another

:23:41.:23:47.

nickname though. Keeping that to yourself, good idea. What effect do

:23:48.:23:53.

you hope this will have back home on local hockey clubs? We are already

:23:54.:23:58.

hearing today about people ringing the local club and sing, can I bring

:23:59.:24:04.

my kids? For me, that is the most amazing thing. We all want a gold

:24:05.:24:08.

medal and this is amazing but to hear that, and all the messages we

:24:09.:24:11.

have had from home, and everybody who wants to get into hockey, no

:24:12.:24:16.

matter your age or your gender, that is just amazing that people will be

:24:17.:24:20.

inspired by it and are loving it. That is literally the best thing

:24:21.:24:25.

about winning this. If 1% of those 10 million join a hockey club that

:24:26.:24:31.

makes a huge difference, doesn't it? That is the whole point of inspiring

:24:32.:24:35.

the next generation. I member watching Kelly Holmes and it

:24:36.:24:39.

inspired me. If you can encourage one person to take up any sport and

:24:40.:24:43.

be involved and be active and have fun, then that is job done for us.

:24:44.:24:48.

Another question, what advice would you give to an 8-10 -year-old about

:24:49.:24:52.

what sport to play? You are just saying, do something? Anything. Just

:24:53.:24:59.

enjoy it. Do not feel pressured to choose a sport to early. The more

:25:00.:25:03.

you can do, the more experience you can get from sport, it just builds

:25:04.:25:07.

you up as a person and you learn so much from it. Sacrifice is a big one

:25:08.:25:12.

as well. I know that you say, oh, I have given up all these things to

:25:13.:25:17.

get here, but the life of a sport star, yes, it has magical moments,

:25:18.:25:21.

but so much hard work goes into preparing and getting through those

:25:22.:25:25.

moments. What have you done to get here? I would call it a life choice

:25:26.:25:31.

rather than a sacrifice. Even though we don't get to do some stuff like,

:25:32.:25:36.

for instance, university, it was not the same as a normal university

:25:37.:25:41.

student. But all of that, missing out on certain bits you would have

:25:42.:25:45.

liked to have done with your friends, etc, weddings, you are not

:25:46.:25:50.

there... It is all totally worth it. 100% with that, over again. All the

:25:51.:25:55.

weddings she missed, she does not care. 100%. It is a choice. And when

:25:56.:26:03.

you have got a gold medal around your neck it is completely worth it.

:26:04.:26:11.

I have nothing to add to that. How do you build your team spirit? You

:26:12.:26:15.

say you do a lot of training together, but another question

:26:16.:26:18.

leading into that, when you leave here, what do you then go back to?

:26:19.:26:24.

When you return to the UK, what happens next? Team spirit, first. A

:26:25.:26:30.

good one is these are really horrible running sessions. We have

:26:31.:26:33.

some really horrible training sessions and the best thing is when

:26:34.:26:37.

you finish and you just huddled together as a team. You are like, we

:26:38.:26:41.

have just gone through that, it will pay off in the end. So that is a key

:26:42.:26:46.

one for me. Going through hard times together really brings you together.

:26:47.:26:54.

Through the National Lottery funding we receive we are able to train

:26:55.:26:59.

together day in, day out. We know each other so well because of that.

:27:00.:27:03.

We have been through the tough times and stuck together. The belief that

:27:04.:27:07.

we have in one another is exceptional. We go out there and we

:27:08.:27:12.

know our job and we do our individual job for the team. There

:27:13.:27:18.

are 31 of us who train day in, day out, for this. And this has only

:27:19.:27:25.

been 16, plus free reserves able to come out here. So all of those

:27:26.:27:29.

people back home who could not come, and the reserves, they all deserve

:27:30.:27:32.

one of these, and we would not be here without them, because they wish

:27:33.:27:37.

us every day to get better. So the team spirit and everything we have

:27:38.:27:41.

is generated by all of those people, not just the people who are here.

:27:42.:27:46.

Did you all her family out with you? People watching, or people back home

:27:47.:27:50.

today, I imagine? My family are right over there. The majority of my

:27:51.:27:59.

family are actually out in Rio. Many of us have had parents coming out to

:28:00.:28:08.

support us. It was two to one Dutch versus British supporters yesterday,

:28:09.:28:12.

but we were definitely louder. My family is back at home but they have

:28:13.:28:17.

all been watching, cheering us on. My mum and my dad and my brothers

:28:18.:28:21.

came out, they flew back home, and then flew back for the final. So

:28:22.:28:27.

they have racked up the miles. Let's look at the medal moment. It was the

:28:28.:28:30.

longest medal ceremony I think I have ever seen in my life. 40

:28:31.:28:36.

minutes. You have had all the adulation, jumped up and down, the

:28:37.:28:40.

emotion poured out, is this a more serious moment, an emotional moment?

:28:41.:28:45.

Is this when you think about all the hard work and the hours of practice

:28:46.:28:48.

and training and the fact you have played hockey since you were seven

:28:49.:28:54.

years old? It is a moment to reflect, almost, you have it around

:28:55.:28:58.

your neck, you have done your bit, you just think back to what it has

:28:59.:29:03.

taken to get there, and all the girls back home, we are just a small

:29:04.:29:08.

proportion of the 31 training squad, but for me, when we sang the

:29:09.:29:12.

national anthem, I do not cry, but even I cried. It is just

:29:13.:29:16.

overwhelming. To be on that podium in the gold medal position. Is it

:29:17.:29:22.

weird, watching it back? Really weird. I know this important

:29:23.:29:28.

question, what can you tell us about the party last night? Look at your

:29:29.:29:34.

faces! It was really nice. It was mostly us, some of the men's squad,

:29:35.:29:38.

and our family and friends who travelled out. It was really nice

:29:39.:29:42.

because we have not seen much of our friends and family whilst out here.

:29:43.:29:47.

We started on the first day of the Olympics and finished yesterday. And

:29:48.:29:50.

straight after one game you focus on the next so we have been in a

:29:51.:29:55.

bubble. So it was nice to get to see everyone and celebrate with them. It

:29:56.:30:00.

sounds like a good night. And what is the best thing about being in

:30:01.:30:04.

Rio, other than obviously these things around your next the moment?

:30:05.:30:08.

You say that, obviously, like you say, virtually day one until now,

:30:09.:30:12.

have you had time to do anything else?

:30:13.:30:18.

We had a trip up Sugarloaf Mountain, the views were stunning, and the

:30:19.:30:26.

people have been very friendly, and the energy is infectious. And it is

:30:27.:30:31.

a very special city. I would probably say the volunteers have

:30:32.:30:34.

been great, almost reminded me a little bit of London when they

:30:35.:30:39.

really get behind you and they've been very helpful, very supportive,

:30:40.:30:46.

and always asking for pin switches. So just the volunteers that make it

:30:47.:30:51.

very special. Just the support, whether it is Team GB support from

:30:52.:30:56.

people we have had from people who know hockey or don't know it. It's

:30:57.:31:02.

just been incredible. What now? What is the next thing? Are you going as

:31:03.:31:07.

far as Tokyo or a few months down the line? A little bit of a rest may

:31:08.:31:13.

be, first. We don't get too many holidays so a little bit of a rest

:31:14.:31:17.

personally for me, then I'm going to Vietnam's Prahalad. I have a couple

:31:18.:31:22.

of weeks off, then I'm playing out in Holland, I'm playing a season out

:31:23.:31:26.

there. Quite a few of the squad play in Holland, don't they? Yes. I'm

:31:27.:31:33.

going back to work after a couple of weeks. I work at DEFRA, I'm studying

:31:34.:31:38.

to be an accountant. It is very different. Clever and incredibly

:31:39.:31:44.

good at sport. One final thing I supposes there will be changed now

:31:45.:31:48.

in the team because your captain is moving on, you can see it is sad

:31:49.:31:53.

because you've been through this wonderful experience together but do

:31:54.:31:56.

you feel there's been a real strength amongst these players here

:31:57.:31:59.

and those that weren't able to get here that this can be continued

:32:00.:32:04.

success? Winning it is one thing but staying there is the next big step,

:32:05.:32:10.

isn't it? Massively. It is going to be a real loss, K definitely

:32:11.:32:18.

inspired meal when I was younger to play hockey. Definitely. The

:32:19.:32:24.

programme we have, thanks to UK Sport and national lottery, will

:32:25.:32:28.

enable that. And our three mottoes are inspire the future, create

:32:29.:32:32.

history, and be the difference. By the programme we set up and the

:32:33.:32:37.

girls we have got back home, we are looking to Tokyo to try to match

:32:38.:32:43.

this. Run it through again? Inspire the future, be the history, be the

:32:44.:32:52.

difference. The messages we have had today, I'm sure you've had them on

:32:53.:32:56.

your own social media accounts, and of those 10 million watching, so

:32:57.:32:59.

many have said it was a brilliant real highlight of the games for them

:33:00.:33:03.

and it was wonderful to watch and your joy and enthusiasm at the end

:33:04.:33:07.

was brilliant so congratulations on the gold medal. Give them a big

:33:08.:33:14.

round of applause. Bigger than that! It is BBC Four, you can cut loose!

:33:15.:33:18.

It's been great to have you won. Just a reminder, there's plenty more

:33:19.:33:24.

still to come tonight. We will have the taekwondo for you at one

:33:25.:33:35.

o'clock. Both are British competitors lost this semifinals but

:33:36.:33:42.

they can come away with a bronze if they win their matches. One o'clock

:33:43.:33:46.

on BBC Four. After that if you switch over to BBC One, you'll be

:33:47.:33:48.

able to see the main man in action. A story of human movement. This

:33:49.:34:06.

looks easy. It has been anything but. 1983, the start. Twin boys born

:34:07.:34:17.

in Mogadishu, Somalia. Eight years later, one twin moves to London. He

:34:18.:34:27.

loves football. Running. Running wins. There are setbacks.

:34:28.:34:31.

Disappointing performance by Mo Farah. Successes. He is destroying

:34:32.:34:40.

them in the home straight! He must change. Change routine. Coach.

:34:41.:34:46.

Change everything. He must move to move faster. Is he ready now? Is

:34:47.:34:58.

this the time? Is this the place? He is kicking again! Mo Farah is going

:34:59.:35:03.

for it! It is gold! He's the double Olympic champion! Here's our Mo

:35:04.:35:13.

nights, and this is our Motown. It becomes the motion picture of the

:35:14.:35:17.

age to be repeated and appreciated time after town. Our monumental Mo.

:35:18.:35:27.

Mo Farah at his best, Mo Farah is the world champion again. Five world

:35:28.:35:33.

titles, simply sensational. What comes next in this story of human

:35:34.:35:39.

movement? Already among the greats, can he pull clear? Rio Mo. Go, Mo.

:35:40.:35:54.

Wonderful words but here's the little plan for the evening. Just a

:35:55.:35:58.

reminder, we will go to see some water polo in a moment. Taekwondo at

:35:59.:36:04.

1am, and Mo Farah at 1:30am. The stuff that isn't on there is your

:36:05.:36:14.

Text Santa wheats which will -- which we will be reading. By popular

:36:15.:36:20.

demand, the best bits section, which lovely Tim has put together. Big

:36:21.:36:25.

thanks to him. Let's show you a bit of water polo. This is the men's

:36:26.:36:29.

gold medal match. It is Croatia taking on Serbia, and commentary on

:36:30.:36:33.

this one comes from Mark Tompkins and John Harkin. It'll be

:36:34.:36:37.

interesting to see how this is refereed.

:36:38.:36:49.

So, here we go, this is the men's final here at the Rio Olympics.

:36:50.:36:56.

Straight away, Croatia have first control of the ball thanks to their

:36:57.:37:11.

player. Garcia, playing his fourth Olympics. There is no

:37:12.:37:23.

Pavic in the starting 74 Croatia. Eight a quarter. Those 22nd

:37:24.:37:32.

exclusions could be the key to this. This will be a physical battle so

:37:33.:37:37.

the referees will be needed here. It'll be interesting to see whether

:37:38.:37:42.

or not they are heavy light. Serbia's starting line-up is just on

:37:43.:37:56.

your screens. Gocic is the captain. The left-hander, Filipovic. First

:37:57.:38:06.

save of the game made by Bijac. If you aren't going to score, get the

:38:07.:38:11.

keeper to get it over. So you get the ball back and another 30 seconds

:38:12.:38:14.

on the clock. This will force Serbia, if they

:38:15.:38:27.

can't get further in, to shoot from well out. He's going to draw the

:38:28.:38:35.

exclusion! It is the Croatian number eight that is swimming out, Andro

:38:36.:38:41.

Buslje, so the first exclusion of the final, giving Serbia a player

:38:42.:38:46.

advantage. This is where they are at their most dangerous. They move the

:38:47.:38:53.

ball around exceptionally well, drawing the Croatians out of

:38:54.:38:56.

position. It is a fairly simple goal. Great call. Zivko Gocic

:38:57.:39:06.

scores. The fact they move the players around, and had the defence

:39:07.:39:13.

guessing. That looks easy now. The other player dragged that little bit

:39:14.:39:18.

of space and up he pops, and it is a great goal, Dusko Pijetlovic. Plenty

:39:19.:39:22.

of practice has gone into scoring a goal like that. The ideal goal. They

:39:23.:39:33.

are big men. They have to miss for it not to go in. There is another

:39:34.:39:41.

exclusion here. It is Serbia's number four, Sava Randelovic.

:39:42.:39:47.

Croatia with a chance to try to get themselves back into the game in the

:39:48.:39:49.

final. Two Centre forwards in trying to

:39:50.:40:01.

keep the Serbians under pressure. And it is over the top from Setka.

:40:02.:40:06.

Because it was blocked by the defender, it'll be throw-out. This

:40:07.:40:12.

has given us a hint of how they will referee. They will try to keep this

:40:13.:40:17.

game light. They don't want them to be monster in each other. Oh!

:40:18.:40:23.

Filipovic was on but the shot was too high, of all things. It may have

:40:24.:40:31.

taken a slight deflection. He's usually so prolific in that

:40:32.:40:36.

position, Filipovic. So, Croatia survive that Serbia attack and they

:40:37.:40:38.

are back on an attack of their own. Oh, fired in! I think it might have

:40:39.:40:56.

bounced back and hit the back of the goalkeeper's head. Let's have a look

:40:57.:41:00.

at the real play. It is a marvellous shot. It has come off the crossbar,

:41:01.:41:05.

come down and hit the back of the goalkeeper, and gone in. You see

:41:06.:41:11.

this a lot. It goes in. Sandro Sukno had the shot. Off the back of

:41:12.:41:20.

Branislav Mitrovic. His 15th goal of 40 attempts. It is a great

:41:21.:41:24.

percentage at this level of water polo. 1-1.

:41:25.:41:33.

Surely, there is a call! But no. He was looking for a kick out or

:41:34.:41:45.

five-metre penalty. The referees have allowed that to run on and a

:41:46.:41:50.

chance for Croatia to come forward again with Andelo Setka.

:41:51.:42:00.

The two centre forwards keeping their width. The two centre forwards

:42:01.:42:11.

is common on the fact the defence from Serbia has been very good.

:42:12.:42:18.

Great ball forward by Filipovic, here is a chance for Mandic. It went

:42:19.:42:26.

in for the second goal for Mandic. And the strength of that man... Both

:42:27.:42:32.

players had hold of each other, the defender and the man with the ball.

:42:33.:42:37.

You can hang onto him, he will do what he is doing there. That takes

:42:38.:42:42.

tremendous strength, tremendous leg strength. The left-hander gets his

:42:43.:42:50.

ninth goal of this Olympic Games and Marko Bijac is beaten again. What a

:42:51.:42:54.

great start to the final we've had, three goals in four minutes. Croatia

:42:55.:43:02.

are back on the attack again with Maro Jokovic.

:43:03.:43:13.

Garcia trying to get an angle. There will be in exclusion here against

:43:14.:43:23.

Serbia's number nine, Nikola Jaksic. Croatia have the extra man. They're

:43:24.:43:35.

going to shoot from outside. Good save. Mitrovic. Named best keeper

:43:36.:43:48.

last year, Branislav Mitrovic, so living up to the expectations here

:43:49.:43:51.

at the Olympic Games. That will be another exclusion. Good decision.

:43:52.:44:04.

Sandro Sukno. Let's see what they conjure up. Trying to draw the

:44:05.:44:13.

defenders, make some space. It bounced into the cage from another

:44:14.:44:20.

narrow angle. It is Stefan Mitrovic who gets the girl and a little bit

:44:21.:44:23.

of daylight between Serbia and Croatia. You'd have to say, not

:44:24.:44:29.

entitled to score from this angle it is a great shot. The player has been

:44:30.:44:38.

dragged out. That is a marvellous strike. We're going to get a

:44:39.:44:43.

time-out call as well. 3-1 now to Serbia over Croatia. Time-out called

:44:44.:44:56.

by the Croatians. The coach trying to get someone to cross to his team

:44:57.:45:01.

after a fine start by the Serbians. They are dancing, the crowd. They

:45:02.:45:10.

have won the last four league world titles, Serbia. The most recent in

:45:11.:45:20.

2014. The two pesticides here but on form it would be an upset if Croatia

:45:21.:45:28.

world to win. -- were to win. The longer they can hang in... They

:45:29.:45:36.

trailed by two now, though. They beat Italy 8-6 in the final in

:45:37.:45:43.

London 2012, the Croatians. Trailing by two here in the first quarter.

:45:44.:45:49.

Make that trailing by one. That is Garcia using the angle well to fire

:45:50.:45:52.

one in past Branislav Mitrovic. He changed allegiances a couple of

:45:53.:46:04.

years ago. The Croatians tried to recruit him

:46:05.:46:23.

straight after London. It took him another 12 months to get his

:46:24.:46:27.

Croatian passport, that now very much a part of their water polo set

:46:28.:46:36.

up. They needed another left-hander and they finally got their man. That

:46:37.:46:42.

has to be another foul at two metres. No doubt. Working his

:46:43.:46:56.

backside off to do it. They have a player sitting in the girls but that

:46:57.:47:03.

is OK. He is not offside. Got to stay outside the two metres unless

:47:04.:47:06.

you have got the ball or it is in front of you. But this time they

:47:07.:47:11.

cannot find their way through, a punch of the air in the Croatian

:47:12.:47:17.

goal. He is punching the air even though it had the post, I don't

:47:18.:47:21.

think he had much to do with that. There you are, celebrating

:47:22.:47:22.

nevertheless. The players come back in after

:47:23.:47:34.

serving a 20 seconds, don't forget, if you commit three files you are

:47:35.:47:37.

out. Another fine long-range strike from Croatia hits the top this time.

:47:38.:47:50.

Jokovic, with the shot. No time to get any respite in this. Once you

:47:51.:47:56.

finish the attack you have to swim like crazy down the other end.

:47:57.:47:59.

Because Serbia are threatening with every attack at the moment. They

:48:00.:48:05.

have punched him also. They are going nuts down here, absolutely

:48:06.:48:12.

crazy, the Croatians. Off the ball, off the camera, not only did he give

:48:13.:48:16.

away an offensive foul, even popped up and delivered a little short jab

:48:17.:48:20.

to the Croatian. Should have been kicked out, that would have left

:48:21.:48:25.

them a player down for the rest of the match. You cannot replace a

:48:26.:48:29.

player who is thrown out for brutality. A little bit of

:48:30.:48:34.

controversy in the final. You can see the reaction from the Croatian

:48:35.:48:38.

coach, telling his players to calm down. They were furious, on the

:48:39.:48:44.

bench. Absolutely they were. I don't know if we will get a replay.

:48:45.:48:49.

Another time-out has been called. It may not, if it happened off camera.

:48:50.:48:53.

But we can seize early offensive foul. He was holding on, and we

:48:54.:49:01.

don't know what was being done under the water, but he came up and

:49:02.:49:05.

reacted with a short punch straight to the face of his opponent. We have

:49:06.:49:11.

got two referees and neither of them saw the incident. He would have been

:49:12.:49:16.

in trouble if they did. It is a big call to leave a team a player down

:49:17.:49:21.

inside the first quarter of an Olympic gold medal game, but if you

:49:22.:49:26.

saw it, you would have too. Look, he is saying, he hit him. And he is

:49:27.:49:31.

saying, I did not see it. The coach needs to make sure he does not get a

:49:32.:49:36.

yellow card for protesting. Referees do not allow much talking back to

:49:37.:49:40.

them in water polo. Serbia are back on the attack. Just trying to drive

:49:41.:49:53.

across the two metre line. An offensive foul and a chance for a

:49:54.:49:58.

quick counterattack. The pass was only a couple of inches from being

:49:59.:50:04.

perfect. End of the first quarter, a thriller. A brilliant tip over in

:50:05.:50:20.

the final seconds. Nikic, with a long-range shot. Croatia 2-3 Serbia.

:50:21.:50:27.

We will be back in the second period of that shortly. We have moved back

:50:28.:50:33.

outside with people saying, what you doing in that warring studio? I want

:50:34.:50:38.

to see the beach behind you. So here are -- boring studio. One viewer

:50:39.:50:48.

saying, water polo is quite brutal, isn't it? Another, is water polo

:50:49.:50:53.

just underwater wrestling? Yes, they are the units. Quite a bit goes on

:50:54.:51:00.

under the water I think. -- they are big units. Look, you can see perhaps

:51:01.:51:09.

the largest rods we have seen in action so far in our Fishermans

:51:10.:51:16.

corner. The binmen, we think, are down the far end of the beach at the

:51:17.:51:20.

moment. If they go past in the next minute or so you will see them live.

:51:21.:51:25.

If they do not come past in the next minute we will need to do it

:51:26.:51:29.

recorded. People are asking about the promised best bits, when are we

:51:30.:51:34.

going to share all that? We will do that at half-time. Oh, they are

:51:35.:51:38.

coming. Sorry, I'm getting distracted. We will do that at

:51:39.:51:45.

half-time in the water polo, so if you want to see the best bits and

:51:46.:51:49.

all the other Gulf, we will do it in 15 minutes. On the bin news, Amanda

:51:50.:51:56.

says she has an orange bean in Glasgow. She sent a picture. Thank

:51:57.:52:01.

you for that. And Emma has found you can buy one, very similar to the Rio

:52:02.:52:08.

ones, ?459 so if you are that obsessed, maybe that is a wise

:52:09.:52:18.

investment. -- for ?59. Did you get your cabal, asks Stacey? Yes, we

:52:19.:52:22.

did. A young man came and grilled it for us and it was very nice indeed.

:52:23.:52:31.

-- our kebab. I am very sorry to say that there is absolutely no sign of

:52:32.:52:37.

Antony Worrall Thompson. You will see him if you stay with us for 15

:52:38.:52:41.

minutes because I am sure he will feature in the best bits, but if he

:52:42.:52:45.

is not here, we might not get any more live AWT, I know you think that

:52:46.:52:52.

means no party, but fear not, it is our final night and we will bring

:52:53.:52:55.

you significant treats. What you pointing at? The binmen? They are

:52:56.:53:02.

coming. Can we stay for them, or do we need to show some sport? I think

:53:03.:53:07.

they are going to take their time. I don't think there is any other

:53:08.:53:10.

channel in the world that would hold the live sport while waiting for our

:53:11.:53:15.

favourite binmen to come and join us on the beach. This is Rafael, Pedro,

:53:16.:53:22.

Alessandra, and Donatello. I think it might take some time. Shall we

:53:23.:53:28.

record it? We will go to the water polo, do not go anywhere, we will

:53:29.:53:32.

show you in man action when you come back, and show you the best bits.

:53:33.:53:38.

How is that for a deal? Here is the second period of the gold medal

:53:39.:53:41.

water polo match, it is important, maybe slightly more potent than our

:53:42.:53:46.

binmen, although the other group are now turning up as well. These are

:53:47.:53:52.

not our boys. These are not our boys. This is like the rival crew.

:53:53.:53:59.

These are our lads. I can't believe we're doing this. Carlos... This is

:54:00.:54:08.

like two worlds colliding. Incredible scenes. It is like a bin

:54:09.:54:15.

off. What on earth is going to happen? They are shaking hands.

:54:16.:54:22.

Maybe they have realised that... I should move out of the way. I feel

:54:23.:54:28.

the need for you to see this action. Maybe they realise how important

:54:29.:54:32.

this is to the people of BBC Four. They know it is the final night. Of

:54:33.:54:37.

Cruise, side-by-side, knowing... Maybe we don't know. -- both crews,

:54:38.:54:48.

side-by-side. Maybe we need to tell them they are so important to our

:54:49.:54:52.

audience. Carlos is going to have a chat with our fabulous binmen crew.

:54:53.:55:00.

Let's do it now. We have got them some gold medals. Come on, come

:55:01.:55:08.

down, it is a bit wobbly, I hope you don't mind, it is BBC Four, it is

:55:09.:55:15.

all good fun. Carlos is explaining. Come down onto the beach. I would

:55:16.:55:22.

love to know... Guys, we have got some gold medals for you, to say

:55:23.:55:28.

thank you. He is coming down. This is going to be a beautiful moment.

:55:29.:55:38.

Guys, come over. Lovely to see you, thank you very much. Your name is

:55:39.:55:54.

Dan? How do you know that? Unbelievable scenes! Can we give a

:55:55.:56:03.

big round of applause to rough ale? Flavio gusto. If you would like to

:56:04.:56:13.

take off your cowboy hat? This is beautiful. Another round of

:56:14.:56:18.

applause, everyone. Lovely to see you. Hold on a moment. The driver.

:56:19.:56:29.

Look at that. You are very famous. Carlos? What is he saying, Carlos?

:56:30.:56:42.

He is saying he is a musician also, and wants to give you a card. Have

:56:43.:56:51.

you got a guitar with you? Will you come back and play the guitar for us

:56:52.:56:53.

later? Yes! THEY SPEAK PORTUGUESE. He is going to come back? Lovely.

:56:54.:57:22.

Live guitar, later on. A picture? For social media? Very nice to see

:57:23.:57:28.

you. Thank you very much guys. We love the copper cabana binmen --

:57:29.:57:47.

Copacabana. I am not sure what to say after

:57:48.:57:52.

that. If you are at home in the UK, thinking, what on earth have I

:57:53.:57:57.

turned on? This is the magic of BBC Four. If you have been watching,

:57:58.:58:02.

these guys have been superstars throughout our coverage. Every night

:58:03.:58:06.

they come by and have a chat, that was actually a slightly different

:58:07.:58:10.

crew, it is the weekend, things might be slightly different. But

:58:11.:58:14.

they have obviously been talking to each other because they know all

:58:15.:58:18.

about what we have been doing. It is a pleasure to meet them live on BBC

:58:19.:58:23.

Four and give them gold medals. And the driver is going to come back

:58:24.:58:27.

later for a bit of live guitar. There we go. We promised you some

:58:28.:58:32.

good beach action and I think that might be a wonderful moment on our

:58:33.:58:39.

final evening on Copacabana. Apologies if you were waiting for

:58:40.:58:42.

the water polo but we had important business to address. We are now

:58:43.:58:46.

returning to Croatia versus Serbia for the gold medal match. Don't go

:58:47.:58:51.

anywhere, the best bits are coming up in 15 minutes time. Goodbye.

:58:52.:58:58.

Maybe he was going to shoot himself, outside the five. But again,

:58:59.:59:05.

remember, it is both of them at the moment. They are just trying to

:59:06.:59:12.

force the defenders... Or keep them out wide. And that is another weak

:59:13.:59:17.

shot that is taken comfortably by Mitrovic. The -- 11-4 when they met

:59:18.:59:31.

in the World Championships, in the Serbia's favour. He is Filipovic.

:59:32.:59:45.

Brilliantly blocked. He was fouled, he cannot interfere with the free

:59:46.:59:48.

throw but he can block with his hand, and that was very well done.

:59:49.:59:53.

More importantly, it sets up his team for another attack as they try

:59:54.:59:55.

to get back to 3-3. Another long-range shot is tipped

:59:56.:00:09.

over by Mitrovic. Another 30 seconds on the shot clock. They won their

:00:10.:00:16.

opening two matches before losing to Spain, before the knockout stage

:00:17.:00:21.

victories, Croatia. Four goals the winning margins against both Brazil

:00:22.:00:23.

and Montenegrin. Nothing happening in terms of the

:00:24.:00:34.

Centre forward. The Centre forward trying to get himself set. Can't.

:00:35.:00:45.

Being marshalled by the captain Gocic. It is disallowed. The whistle

:00:46.:00:57.

has gone. And exclusion here. That is because the player had already

:00:58.:01:00.

been excluded. That is a little unlucky. We are going to get the

:01:01.:01:07.

yellow card. He has turned to the Croatian bench but just to assure

:01:08.:01:12.

you, the yellow card has gone on to the assistant coach, not the coach.

:01:13.:01:19.

I still think he is going on about that punch in the opening quarter.

:01:20.:01:25.

You have got to let it go. His side is in this up to their eyeballs.

:01:26.:01:31.

He is on. That was a marvellous bit of play, just let them with the

:01:32.:01:37.

final execution. It was very well worked, extra man, but well wide

:01:38.:01:46.

with the shot. The goal that was disallowed has infuriated him.

:01:47.:01:54.

Serbia come forward again. A good save, had to climb high out of the

:01:55.:01:59.

water to get a finger tip on that one. Bijac with the save. 3-2,

:02:00.:02:15.

still. Three minutes played in the second quarter. One of the Serbians

:02:16.:02:20.

cherry picking then the other end. He is way back about five metres.

:02:21.:02:29.

Good save again, Mitrovic has been in good form so far. That is his

:02:30.:02:36.

fourth save out of six. Managing to keep his side's goal intact. It is

:02:37.:02:41.

now Filip Hrgovic who will come forward. -- Filipovic. He has been

:02:42.:02:54.

well marked tonight, he was held back. So an extra man for Serbia.

:02:55.:03:00.

The Croatian Number Ten Krapic, who had the goal disallowed. Still he

:03:01.:03:12.

continues to throw his arms around at the referee, he is not a happy

:03:13.:03:17.

man, is he? Krapic climbs out of the water.

:03:18.:03:30.

Stabbed three this getting it in the neck from the coach at the moment --

:03:31.:03:42.

Stavridis getting it in the neck. They are back Square. What a

:03:43.:03:53.

backhanded shot from close range by Nikic. They had done all the hard

:03:54.:03:57.

work, got themselves where and when they thought they had the chance of

:03:58.:04:02.

a canter, the ball straight into the Centre forward and what about this

:04:03.:04:06.

for the Centre forward's goal with the backhand, stuffs it into the

:04:07.:04:20.

bottom corner. No chance for Bijac. 4-2. Croatian coach has a on both

:04:21.:04:27.

shoulders and at the moment, there is way too much discussion down

:04:28.:04:31.

there. The players will take a lead from that, they will feel hard done

:04:32.:04:36.

by. He needs to settle down, otherwise every call that goes

:04:37.:04:39.

against them, the team will feel that they are being hard done by,

:04:40.:04:45.

being cheated. I don't want to use that word other than in a

:04:46.:04:51.

psychological sense but they need to focus on the fact that they are

:04:52.:04:55.

still in it. Another foul here. It is an exclusion for Serbia. Mandic

:04:56.:05:05.

on the swim back. There will be a time out here and the chance to get

:05:06.:05:09.

the men forward into an attacking position. A little tired, didn't

:05:10.:05:15.

want to swim back too quickly. I'll just have a little grab of my

:05:16.:05:22.

opposite number. They would love to score here with the extra man. The

:05:23.:05:25.

conversation is now going on between the players. They need to settle

:05:26.:05:32.

down. There is a lack of control from Croatia at the moment. There is

:05:33.:05:36.

a game to play, forget refereeing it as well. So many Games against each

:05:37.:05:44.

other in the past, they know each other inside out, these top teams.

:05:45.:05:47.

It is not like any other team sport, where you have 30 or 40 teams trying

:05:48.:05:53.

to qualify for a final, these teams are there every time, so these

:05:54.:05:57.

situations have arisen many times. And many of them are team-mates

:05:58.:06:03.

across the two nations, so they know each other very well. Mandic and

:06:04.:06:17.

Setka be good examples. It is another save from Mitrovic but it

:06:18.:06:21.

wasn't the greatest of shops, in fairness. The goalie is getting the

:06:22.:06:26.

better of these tussles. It has just come off the arm of one of the

:06:27.:06:30.

blocking players, made it a little easier.

:06:31.:06:40.

Filopovic has spent every minute in the pool so far this final. I was

:06:41.:06:46.

just thinking the same, the amount of minutes he has played. Oh,

:06:47.:06:58.

wonderful, Filopovic was involved and it is another goal and the

:06:59.:07:06.

advantage stretches a little further by Gocic. He was just jumping high,

:07:07.:07:11.

there was a little block as he jumped high to come across it and

:07:12.:07:14.

cover the near post. There is an example where the log was on. That

:07:15.:07:21.

stretches it a bit, three goals, two and a bit minutes to go in this

:07:22.:07:22.

first half. Gocic with bronze medals in London

:07:23.:07:33.

and Beijing, so with his third Olympics, he is guaranteed at least

:07:34.:07:37.

a silver. Filopovic has come out of the pool for a short break. Croatia

:07:38.:07:43.

back on the attack, more defensive minded for the Serbians. Another

:07:44.:07:54.

exclusion for a little tug. Randelovic get his second exclusion.

:07:55.:08:03.

Garcia Gadea has scored already but not bad time with the defending.

:08:04.:08:16.

Setka has found a way through. He is having a game, Setka. There is the

:08:17.:08:20.

kick out. Nothing wrong with that decision. Quick pass and off the

:08:21.:08:30.

hand, in it goes. They get Garcia Gadea involved on plenty of

:08:31.:08:34.

occasions. That's left-handed throw is perfect for the handle, into

:08:35.:08:38.

players like macro on this nearside of the pool. -- like Setka. Inside

:08:39.:08:47.

the final two minutes of the first half. Serbia will want to try to

:08:48.:08:53.

keep the pressure on. Here is another shot from outside five.

:08:54.:09:03.

Mandic with his second of the game. Another left-hander shows his work.

:09:04.:09:08.

Filopovic shouts his encouragement. Goal Number Ten of these 2016 Rio

:09:09.:09:13.

Olympic Games. What about the athleticism of not only getting a

:09:14.:09:16.

but getting up and being able to turn his body around with those

:09:17.:09:23.

great legs and core strength to use lot it in around the arms of his

:09:24.:09:27.

defender. Psychologically, it is very important for the Serbians to

:09:28.:09:34.

retain a handy lead. If they go up but -- if they go in those goals up,

:09:35.:09:45.

it is difficult mentally for the Croatians to come back. Another good

:09:46.:09:53.

save by Mitrovic. They have got the look of the bounce, Croatia -- the

:09:54.:09:57.

good luck. Prlainovic at the 22nd, so Croatia

:09:58.:10:13.

with the extra player. And with the extra seconds, so important they can

:10:14.:10:19.

score here. He had his arm up begging for it. On two metres, he

:10:20.:10:24.

was absolutely begging for that ball. They will get another 30

:10:25.:10:29.

seconds, though. Time-out called by Serbia. The shot blocked by Setka.

:10:30.:10:44.

It was a block, so it will turn over to Serbia. Thing is not going

:10:45.:10:57.

Croatia's way in the first half. He was begging for the ball but they

:10:58.:11:03.

couldn't get it to him. Serbia will come back with it and what a telling

:11:04.:11:08.

blow this could be if with, just 51 seconds left in the second period,

:11:09.:11:12.

they get another one. They are out by three, their biggest lead so far

:11:13.:11:18.

in the match. Well it shows how they perhaps underperformed in the group

:11:19.:11:21.

stage, they finished fourth, so they played the top team in the other

:11:22.:11:29.

group. But it has worked in their favour because it was Spain that

:11:30.:11:32.

they played, saw them off in the quarterfinals. They put themselves

:11:33.:11:38.

under pressure, as you say. A loss to Brazil. Trying to milk the Faldo,

:11:39.:11:47.

pushed off with the left hand, so an offensive foul pull-back for the

:11:48.:11:52.

Croats. Oh, no. Can you believe this? They have got a foul

:11:53.:11:58.

centrefield with a little offensive foul from the Croatians, so Serbia

:11:59.:12:05.

will come back with it. They are literally playing into Serbia's

:12:06.:12:10.

hands at the moment, Croatia. It is a coach killer, that one. Clean the

:12:11.:12:20.

one backed by Garcia Gadea -- cleanly one -- won back. Filopovic

:12:21.:12:31.

out for 20 seconds. So there are a few seconds to go in this first.

:12:32.:12:37.

Someone has to take a ping. The left-hander might. Yes, he will.

:12:38.:12:43.

Back into play. It would have gone back to Croatia for 30 seconds but

:12:44.:12:47.

the hooter goes for the end of the first of and despite the fact there

:12:48.:12:51.

is a 3-goal cushion, Croatia have had their chances to get more goals

:12:52.:12:55.

in this half. At the halfway point in the gold-medal match, it is three

:12:56.:12:57.

- six. Thank you, gentlemen, so Serbia

:12:58.:13:08.

leading Croatia 6-3 at half-time. That is the gold-medal match,

:13:09.:13:11.

remember. We shall be showing a bit more of that for you later on. Thank

:13:12.:13:21.

you for all of your reaction to the Copaca binmen. While you were

:13:22.:13:25.

watching that, something special happened and we recorded it for you,

:13:26.:13:28.

and here it is. Ladies and gentlemen, look what has

:13:29.:13:33.

happened, the Copaca binmen have returned. There we go. One of our

:13:34.:13:39.

regulars wasn't on the tractor the last time round, so they came back

:13:40.:13:43.

because we had one gold-medal left. Four of them have dazzled us that

:13:44.:13:48.

these Olympic Games, so it gives me great pleasure to watch it with the

:13:49.:13:51.

BBC for gold medal. Thank you very much. Lovely to see you all, boys.

:13:52.:13:57.

This is genuinely a high point of my career. Can we line up for a nice

:13:58.:14:01.

down the Camara for the medals. Come on. In all seriousness, these guys

:14:02.:14:10.

do an unbelievable job and it has been a pleasure to watch it every

:14:11.:14:15.

night. Ladies and gentlemen, the Copaca binmen!

:14:16.:14:20.

They are lovely guys and what we didn't realise is they have been

:14:21.:14:26.

enjoying it as much as we have been enjoying it. We have had so many

:14:27.:14:29.

lovely messages over the last two weeks and I know we have messed a bit

:14:30.:14:33.

about with the water polo, but we have been able to show you some

:14:34.:14:38.

fantastic sport as well over the last two weeks and really hope

:14:39.:14:44.

you've enjoyed that. For all those who requested a summation of

:14:45.:14:47.

some of the madness and the sights and the sounds we have seen on

:14:48.:14:50.

Copacabana Beach, here, courtesy of lovely Tim from BBC 4 team, is the

:14:51.:15:00.

Copacabanter best bits. Time now for the headlines on BBC Four. This is

:15:01.:15:06.

nice, there will be no actual violence, it is all gentle and fun.

:15:07.:15:12.

Good evening. Life fishing on BBC Four. Fishermen's corner. Greg is

:15:13.:15:18.

doing his business on the far side of the track. Stop laughing, you

:15:19.:15:19.

lot. Massive bin man news, massive bin

:15:20.:15:31.

man use, what a job. We're not going to zoom in but rest assured, it's

:15:32.:15:37.

not that, apparently they are reading a book, they are reading a

:15:38.:15:41.

book, in a strange pose. Magnificent scenes, maybe that's how you do it

:15:42.:15:51.

in Brazil. A Brazilian hen party. Weather BBC. The BBC! BBC. Guess who

:15:52.:16:01.

has turned up, it's Maria's Mum, everybody. Say hi to the family. See

:16:02.:16:07.

you later. You're getting married! Antony Worrall Thompson, headphones

:16:08.:16:11.

on, ready to go. Where are you going on your holidays? We're talking

:16:12.:16:19.

about our six life, actually? Absolute wipe-out, that was. It is

:16:20.:16:31.

this cabaret? -- Caparo. Look at that, magnificent movement from

:16:32.:16:31.

Antony Worrall Thompson. MUSIC

:16:32.:16:51.

I hope they not dragging that young fellow into the sea. Never work with

:16:52.:17:04.

children and animals. Yes! They've got full beans, but they don't have

:17:05.:17:11.

the friendliness of our regular Copaca binmen. We got away with

:17:12.:17:21.

that. There you go, we've had great fun over the last few weeks. We've

:17:22.:17:25.

got a great crowd tonight, good evening, everybody. I'd like to

:17:26.:17:28.

think they are here to watch us but actually we have BBC One on another

:17:29.:17:33.

monitor and they are watching the final of the football, currently

:17:34.:17:36.

Brazil one and Germany want, into added time. We're happy to give you

:17:37.:17:41.

the service. -- Germany one. We are going to get back to the water polo

:17:42.:17:47.

for you and we may show you, our editor has been nice, he may show

:17:48.:17:50.

you the full Maria interview before we leave you at 2am. We will

:17:51.:17:55.

continue to read out your texts and tweets. We might get back out on the

:17:56.:17:59.

beach, to fishermen's corner. Evening full stop oh, no, no

:18:00.:18:05.

response! Verities. Maybe we won't go over there. -- there it is. We

:18:06.:18:12.

are going to go back to the water polo. This is into the second half,

:18:13.:18:17.

commentary on Serbia against Croatia from Mark Tompkins and John Harker.

:18:18.:18:24.

COMMENTATOR: There's the quarter by quarter

:18:25.:18:29.

summary, three goals in each of those quarters from the Serbs, who

:18:30.:18:35.

are in control of the match with 16 minutes to play. Every time the

:18:36.:18:39.

whistle-blowers, the clock stops, so a lot more than 16 minutes between

:18:40.:18:43.

now and the end, but 16 minutes of play. Stefan Mitrovic Chand the swim

:18:44.:18:49.

off for Serbia in the blue cap, so we are playing towards the left end

:18:50.:18:54.

this time. Filipovic is still in the box, so they will start this a man

:18:55.:18:59.

down. If they get possession though, he gets to come straight back in. It

:19:00.:19:05.

is Croatia that have possession, so Filipovic will have to stay where he

:19:06.:19:09.

is in the exclusion zone. Now he's back into the game, straight into a

:19:10.:19:14.

defensive position for his team. The first attack for Croatia. I'd love

:19:15.:19:22.

to have heard what their coach had to say to them at half-time.

:19:23.:19:33.

Jokovic. Good defence from the centre back. They haven't done that

:19:34.:19:40.

too often in this game. The Croatians get themselves a goal,

:19:41.:19:46.

they are back to two now, it's 6-4. Can you explain what the way is in

:19:47.:19:52.

there? It's a remarkable goal. Sometimes they have a great vision

:19:53.:19:57.

to see a little gap past the goalkeeper. We've seen some

:19:58.:20:00.

wonderful shooting here that has literally been right in the corners,

:20:01.:20:04.

just skimming the post, such great accuracy. Were going to get a player

:20:05.:20:10.

kicked out of the centre. And extra man chance for Serbia. Sandro Sukno

:20:11.:20:20.

with his second 22nd exclusion -- his second 20 - second exclusion. A

:20:21.:20:29.

knob into centre, they try to work in between the Centre forward, it

:20:30.:20:38.

was almost worked in. Well defended by Croatia. It takes a lot of skill

:20:39.:20:41.

to pass from one to the other. Three seconds on the shot clock,

:20:42.:21:01.

they will get another 30, because it came off the goalkeeper. A great

:21:02.:21:05.

shot like that to the low corner, needs to get carried away, only a

:21:06.:21:10.

couple of seconds to go on the shot clock as you say and now, another

:21:11.:21:15.

30, so they will be first to score, Vista get them back within one. Just

:21:16.:21:23.

the sort of start they wanted to the third quarter, if they can

:21:24.:21:31.

capitalise on this possession. A defensive foul, the ball turns over

:21:32.:21:36.

back to Serbia. Yes, centre forward, just dunking the centre back.

:21:37.:21:48.

A lot of the shot clock has been tied up by swimming to the other

:21:49.:21:58.

side of the pool. He is Mitrovic. Fouling going on outside the five

:21:59.:22:02.

metres but not to warrant an exclusion. Turned away by Bijac. It

:22:03.:22:12.

was pretty skilful, almost went over his head. So they will get the ball

:22:13.:22:19.

back and another final 30 seconds. Looking for a foul here to shoot

:22:20.:22:26.

himself, I think. Yes. Tremendous power once again from Filipovic. The

:22:27.:22:31.

elevation out of the water and the sheer force he gets behind the ball

:22:32.:22:37.

gave Bijac no chance whatsoever and probably the man of the tournament

:22:38.:22:45.

gets another goal. The assistant coach for Croatia has been sent out,

:22:46.:22:50.

just off-camera. He must leave the arena immediately. We can't keep

:22:51.:22:57.

going on with this. You knew he was trying to do exactly that and it

:22:58.:22:58.

went like a rocket. He was the most valuable player at

:22:59.:23:09.

Shanghai in the World Championships in 2011, and think he is in danger

:23:10.:23:14.

of picking up that award again here if he's not careful, Filip Hrgovic,

:23:15.:23:18.

goal number 16 from open play, two penalties to add to that tally --

:23:19.:23:25.

Filipovic. The Croatian official still doesn't want to leave the

:23:26.:23:29.

poolside. He's got to go. There's an official we will get back to the

:23:30.:23:35.

action. That's going to be a player out for into flaring with the free

:23:36.:23:41.

throw. An extra chance here for Croatia -- interfering with the free

:23:42.:23:46.

throw. Croatia with a chance to find some space and a good save the game,

:23:47.:23:53.

hit straight at Mitrovic. A good safe by the goalkeeper. The

:23:54.:23:57.

assistant coaches finally out of the arena. He did well there. If

:23:58.:24:08.

somebody is trying to get 80 or 90 Ks from five metres. Serbia with

:24:09.:24:21.

possession. Zivko Gocic. That will be Croatia's ball. We are back to

:24:22.:24:27.

the same deficit we had at the end of the first half. Croatia coming

:24:28.:24:35.

forward again on the latest attack. We are almost halfway through the

:24:36.:24:46.

third already. Garcia godet. -- that the second exclusion, there's a

:24:47.:24:56.

time-out called. Three players potentially now on a full-time

:24:57.:24:59.

exclusion from the match, if they're not careful. Three of the Serbians

:25:00.:25:04.

have two major fouls, only one of the Croatians, although the one

:25:05.:25:09.

Croatian who does have is Sukno, who is a very valuable player, as we

:25:10.:25:14.

know. So what can they conjure here with an extra man? One minute the

:25:15.:25:26.

duration of the time-out for Ivica Tucak to get tactics across to his

:25:27.:25:30.

team. I've looked at the way -- they will have looked at the way the

:25:31.:25:34.

Serbians have set up and they have the advantage that they can get the

:25:35.:25:40.

angle from the near side of the pool. We haven't seen much of

:25:41.:25:49.

Yanukovych either. -- Jokovic either. Here he is again, the

:25:50.:25:57.

Spaniard. Playing in the red and white of Croatia. They are working

:25:58.:26:02.

this around. They've got some space here. Serbia just looking to keep

:26:03.:26:06.

them tight, prevent the shop coming in and they are doing well at the

:26:07.:26:11.

moment. It's been spilled. Ten seconds back to a full complement.

:26:12.:26:15.

Just over the top, clipped the top of the bar that time. A long-range

:26:16.:26:20.

shot fails to find a way through from Petkovic. They will try to work

:26:21.:26:29.

to the old keeper's right-hand side, he sliced back into three but

:26:30.:26:32.

terrific defence from Serbia to close it down. It's why Garcia was

:26:33.:26:37.

bringing the ball to the one metre line, but could never get three.

:26:38.:26:44.

Great defence, Serbia. Both sides will be leaving with medals but at

:26:45.:26:48.

the moment the colour remains debatable. There is another foul.

:26:49.:26:53.

That's harsh, that's a really harsh ball. It was a poor pass. He was

:26:54.:26:58.

never going to get to that, the Centre forward. They've paid it,

:26:59.:27:03.

unusual. Have a Garcia is the man who is out for -- Xavier Garcia is

:27:04.:27:09.

the man who is out for 20 seconds, so another chance for Serbia here.

:27:10.:27:14.

The ball was pushed under the water. It will be Croatia's ball.

:27:15.:27:18.

Interestingly enough, Serbia, you see the player swimming back out

:27:19.:27:23.

there, he had been sitting in on the goal-line in an offside position and

:27:24.:27:26.

the argument is he's not taking part in the game, but he's distracting

:27:27.:27:30.

the keeper and causing a whole, view is he swims out and scores, that

:27:31.:27:37.

time he didn't get caught, but fortunately the ball didn't go in

:27:38.:27:41.

either. It's another block and once again Serbia protecting their

:27:42.:27:48.

goalkeeper really well here. Buslje the latest Croatian to be denied by

:27:49.:27:53.

some good defending. T hands went up and forced a double block. That was

:27:54.:27:58.

Serbia back up at the other end, looking to add their to tally in the

:27:59.:28:02.

final. Great defence so far from Serbia. Low scoring final. Filipovic

:28:03.:28:10.

is trying to milk a foul. Doesn't need to, doesn't need to! It's an

:28:11.:28:16.

absolute replay of the last goal he scored, exactly the same position,

:28:17.:28:19.

tried to get the foul but then rose out of the water and fired with

:28:20.:28:24.

power past the goalkeeper. We will see a change in goalkeeper now for

:28:25.:28:31.

Croatia. Your zip average coming in. Nothing the goalkeeper could do with

:28:32.:28:36.

shots coming at that pace -- Pavic coming in. This was too much work,

:28:37.:28:49.

I'll have a ping, what a player. 8-4, Serbia lead, two goals in the

:28:50.:28:54.

game now for Filipovic. He is climbing out of the pool on the

:28:55.:28:58.

other side so he can have a slow walk background to his team-mates.

:28:59.:29:04.

Giants of men, these players. Yes, they are big boys. It's not going

:29:05.:29:11.

Croatia's way, looking for a second gold medal at the moment. Savage is

:29:12.:29:17.

serving. Serbia are giving themselves an advantage for the gold

:29:18.:29:23.

medal. Another fiercely struck shot, well saved by Mitrovic, but it has

:29:24.:29:26.

bounced back to the Croatians, so they will get another 30. There will

:29:27.:29:38.

be an exclusion. For Serbia. Another player sits out.

:29:39.:29:48.

May have to make this count. A must score now. They have scored. Sukno

:29:49.:29:57.

gets his second of the game and we are back to a 3-goal game. They had

:29:58.:30:02.

to leave him out of the water, look at that! He had hold of his cap as

:30:03.:30:09.

well. Serbia, you're talking about the size of these men and Sukno puts

:30:10.:30:13.

it in, they left him out for a while because he was on two fouls but they

:30:14.:30:19.

have ten players at 192 centimetres or above, a couple at 202

:30:20.:30:24.

centimetres, so guys who are six foot eight or six hard to stop.

:30:25.:30:33.

Fantastic athleticism shown by these players. We have a time-out, by the

:30:34.:30:40.

way, for Serbia, who, having conceded that goal, looking

:30:41.:30:49.

consolidate their situation. Pavic. The man who, at 34, carried the flag

:30:50.:30:55.

for Croatia, this his third Olympics. It was a 3-goal deficit at

:30:56.:30:59.

half-time and it is still a 3-goal deficit. They need to pull another

:31:00.:31:02.

one back and obviously prevent Serbia from scoring here. Serbia

:31:03.:31:08.

with Filipovic in such dangerous form. He he is again on the ball.

:31:09.:31:16.

Surely he is not going to score from 12 metres, but anything is possible.

:31:17.:31:24.

Turnover foul at centre forward. Nikic gave the ball away. Good call.

:31:25.:31:31.

So a chance here inside the last minute. Can they paid this back to

:31:32.:31:38.

two? Croatia have shown in Flash is why they are the current Olympic

:31:39.:31:42.

champions but at the moment, they are being outmuscled by the

:31:43.:31:47.

Serbians. That is the word for it, outmuscled. That is a poor pass to

:31:48.:31:53.

the centre forward. An easy intercept the keeper. Even if he was

:31:54.:31:57.

being fouled, you are not going to play. You need to play closer to his

:31:58.:32:07.

hand and draw the exclusion. Just 18 seconds left on the clock at the end

:32:08.:32:13.

of the third quarter. He is outside the five. Backhand, thank you.

:32:14.:32:20.

Brilliantly done once again and Batman Mandic has his third of the

:32:21.:32:23.

game. Because it was outside the five, he could shoot so without

:32:24.:32:28.

passing and has done so with devastating consequences -- Batman.

:32:29.:32:35.

It takes confidence and skill to throw that kind of back and in an

:32:36.:32:40.

Olympic gold final. He has seen the defensive player with his hand up

:32:41.:32:44.

and he has sprung a surprise from about six metres and, as you say,

:32:45.:32:48.

fouled outside the five, you can shoot from inside the five without

:32:49.:32:55.

passing. Croatia with the final shot of a half, it clatters against the

:32:56.:32:59.

bar and back into play. The hooter goes to bring us to the three

:33:00.:33:04.

quarters mark of the finals. Some brilliant individual performances

:33:05.:33:07.

from the likes of Mandic and Filipovic but at the three quarters

:33:08.:33:12.

point at the gold-medal match, it is 9-5 to Serbia.

:33:13.:33:17.

It is good stuff, isn't it? I hope you are enjoying get on BBC Four, we

:33:18.:33:24.

will be back for the fourth quarter but it is our final day here back on

:33:25.:33:28.

the beach, I think it is a roundabout time we brought you the

:33:29.:33:34.

headlines from these real Olympics. Nicola Adams has won gold once

:33:35.:33:40.

again. The first boxer in nearly 100 years to retain her title, the same

:33:41.:33:46.

as she did in London four years ago, Olympic gold for Nicola Adams.

:33:47.:33:53.

Liam Heath has won his second medal of the Games and this time it was

:33:54.:34:01.

gold in the men's 200m kayak sprint. There was also a bronze today for

:34:02.:34:04.

Vicky Holland. She claimed that medal in the triathlon, the USA's

:34:05.:34:09.

Gwen Jorgensen so dominant, taking the top medal for the USA.

:34:10.:34:17.

Really sad news the Tom Daley, Hassan Chen of Tyner back of the red

:34:18.:34:25.

China took gold -- Chen Aisen of China took gold but Tom Daley didn't

:34:26.:34:31.

even qualify for the final. And Inbee Park of South Korea is golf's

:34:32.:34:37.

Olympic champion, 16 under par, way clear of the rest. Charley Hull of

:34:38.:34:39.

Team GB was joint seventh. Those are your headlines. We shall

:34:40.:34:51.

read a few more of your messages later on, thank you for all of

:34:52.:34:56.

those. We will definitely miss the beach. I know a lot of you are

:34:57.:35:01.

saying we will -- you will miss this programme and we will miss it as

:35:02.:35:04.

well. Your messages and text messages and comments have been a

:35:05.:35:07.

very special part of that. But we need to get back to the water polo,

:35:08.:35:12.

Croatia are playing Serbia. Final quarter. The winner gets a gold

:35:13.:35:16.

medal. The losers go away with silver, so it is not too bad but

:35:17.:35:20.

gold is what it is all about. Let's return. Our commentators are Mark

:35:21.:35:22.

Tompkins and John Harkin. Serbia attacking the goal to

:35:23.:35:34.

left-hand side in the final quarter. Sedco gets there first. Loses his

:35:35.:35:41.

cap and claims he was being fouled -- Sukno. It is hard to play and

:35:42.:35:53.

referee the game at the same time! Turnover fell by long car, Saudi

:35:54.:35:57.

attack that could have got them a goal has said Serbia going forward.

:35:58.:36:08.

-- by Loncar. Simple goal in the centre. The

:36:09.:36:20.

turnover did cost them. It turned into a classic counterattack goal.

:36:21.:36:24.

One on one here, he wasn't marked properly. They have dropped their

:36:25.:36:33.

heads, Croatia. Let's hope they can keep their discipline for the game.

:36:34.:36:39.

They don't want players excluded, it will mean Serbia can have a chance

:36:40.:36:43.

to pull away even further and make it even more emphatic. The game

:36:44.:36:49.

isn't there at the moment for the Croatians. They need a couple of

:36:50.:36:55.

unanswered goals. Since London 2012, it has always been about Serbia

:36:56.:37:01.

really at the major tournaments. But they have bounced one in to give

:37:02.:37:08.

themselves a little bit of hope, Sukno, who has been their main

:37:09.:37:13.

danger. It has bounced under the centre back's hand and the keeper

:37:14.:37:21.

has seen it very late. So three from 34 Sukno but he has not played the

:37:22.:37:24.

amount of minutes you would like, he has a long time on the bench as a

:37:25.:37:29.

result of those too early major fouls. He has had to use him

:37:30.:37:38.

sparely, even kook ak, and it has probably cost Croatia a little

:37:39.:37:47.

bitch. -- a little bit. Still the four goal lead they started the

:37:48.:37:51.

final period with. One thing you cannot do their is stop and shoot

:37:52.:37:58.

from five metres. You have to shoot in one action. That will give him

:37:59.:38:05.

some confidence coming into the game late. Croatia back on the attack,

:38:06.:38:13.

trying to reduce the deficit back to three. Centre forward's set there.

:38:14.:38:22.

Didn't get the ball any quicker. It was a good, smart foul from the

:38:23.:38:26.

Serbians, ordinary garden variety fell but it enabled them to come

:38:27.:38:30.

back and double marked the centre. -- foul. The crossbar is still

:38:31.:38:36.

nervous. The ball hits the outside of the post.

:38:37.:38:43.

So Serbia back on the offensive, they looked dangerous every time

:38:44.:38:49.

they go forward. He has been caught pushing off. Whistle went.

:38:50.:39:01.

So Croatia need to try and get a couple of goals without reply if

:39:02.:39:09.

they can. Again, there is a turnover, claiming a foul against

:39:10.:39:18.

Krapic but nothing has been given. Again, Ivica Tucak looks at the

:39:19.:39:22.

referee. Can't believe it was given -- wasn't given as a foul and Serbia

:39:23.:39:28.

mount another attack. It was a good bit of work to turn him but anyway,

:39:29.:39:34.

back with the Serbs. There is an offensive foul inside, the Centre

:39:35.:39:37.

forward has gone over the top of the centre back trying to get himself

:39:38.:39:41.

position. Turnover, five minutes left. It is a long way back from

:39:42.:39:47.

here, a four goal margin. They have got to school. -- score. They can't

:39:48.:39:56.

find any space, the Croatians. Serbia defending so well and keeping

:39:57.:40:03.

the zones nice and tight. They are inviting the shot, making it

:40:04.:40:05.

impossible to get into the centre forward. It is a poor pass. They get

:40:06.:40:11.

lucky. They will call a time-out, the Croatians but it was a very poor

:40:12.:40:16.

pass. I don't think he would have got it even if he hadn't have been

:40:17.:40:23.

fouled. Pijetlovic will sit out 20 seconds when the play resumes.

:40:24.:40:30.

Croatia calling the time-out here. Ivica Tucak. They have probably got

:40:31.:40:44.

five, maybe six, but probably five possessions and they are four goals

:40:45.:40:48.

down. They can't let Serbia score again, we know that, but they have

:40:49.:40:52.

to start scoring themselves, right now. It would go to a penalty shoot

:40:53.:40:59.

out if they could get level, no overtime or extra time in water polo

:41:00.:41:04.

anymore. We have seen some dramatic shoot outs in the earlier stages of

:41:05.:41:08.

the competition. You are on your own if there is a penalty shoot out four

:41:09.:41:12.

Olympic gold, I don't think I could stand distressed. I don't think the

:41:13.:41:19.

players could. -- stand the stress. It is a need for positivity now in

:41:20.:41:25.

front of goal from Croatia. They have wasted the opportunity with the

:41:26.:41:28.

extra player once again and Serbia, you can't fault their defence. Been

:41:29.:41:34.

absolutely superb at blocking those shots before they even reach

:41:35.:41:38.

Mitrovic and he is a great last line of defence to have as well. It

:41:39.:41:43.

looked like the channel might have been there. Filipovic is in no real

:41:44.:41:48.

rush, he is smart, he knows they want to waste every second of every

:41:49.:41:54.

possession they get. Hopefully he will score or forced a save.

:41:55.:42:01.

Deflected over. I think it may have come off the head of his Centre

:42:02.:42:07.

forward. Yes, it did. Good shape, it did indeed. He would have felt that,

:42:08.:42:16.

Nikic. He will be concussed! Here come Croatia again, under four

:42:17.:42:21.

minutes to go in the match. They are down probably to four possessions.

:42:22.:42:26.

Is just up and over the top and Croatia having no luck when they

:42:27.:42:30.

needed. Sukno looking for his fourth goal of the game. It wasn't a bad

:42:31.:42:36.

thing, it had to keeper beaten but bounced too high. Again, Filipovic

:42:37.:42:46.

in no rush again. 16th actually just telling his team-mates, calm it

:42:47.:42:50.

down. It is about winning a gold medal, not putting on a performance.

:42:51.:42:54.

They are putting on a performance all the same, Mandic gets his fourth

:42:55.:42:59.

goal of the game and they start to believe now that the gold medal is

:43:00.:43:05.

within their grasp. Again, took it very late in terms of the shot

:43:06.:43:14.

clock. Put them to sleep. That is a great strike, just bounces under the

:43:15.:43:20.

arm. Six of the Serbian goals have come from the left-handers tonight,

:43:21.:43:26.

Mandic and Filipovic. You mentioned the score in a World Championships

:43:27.:43:30.

last year, it is getting to that type of number, five goal margin

:43:31.:43:34.

with two and a half Men it's the play. It was a seven goal margin so

:43:35.:43:40.

you are right, we are looking at a similar margin here, you would feel.

:43:41.:43:45.

Croatia must wonder what they have to do to be the Serbians, becoming a

:43:46.:43:50.

bit of a nemesis, the former Yugoslav partners.

:43:51.:43:59.

Could save Mitrovic again and every save, every block will be greeted

:44:00.:44:05.

with cheers and claps and shouts at the bench. Serbia coming forward

:44:06.:44:13.

again. The keeper is going crazy off-camera at the moment. Mandic is

:44:14.:44:18.

out as well and screaming to his team-mates on the bench. They know

:44:19.:44:22.

they have copies, two and a half minutes to play. The coach, the man

:44:23.:44:31.

who started training at just five years of age, made his league debut

:44:32.:44:36.

when he was just 13 and he looks like having taken charge in 2012, he

:44:37.:44:41.

has guided Serbia to a gold medal. But when he was 13, he was about six

:44:42.:44:49.

foot two. He was a monster. He kept on growing, a big, big man. 400

:44:50.:44:56.

goals, 440 odd Games. Just had a quiet word with Mandic, as if to say

:44:57.:45:01.

you have done your job, those four goals put us in nice shape. There is

:45:02.:45:06.

one back from Garcia but muted in terms of celebration. They have

:45:07.:45:12.

pulled the deficit back to four, in 11-4 in Serbia's favour. This is a

:45:13.:45:19.

bit of a victory lap now for Serbia. Sitting at home, a global audience,

:45:20.:45:22.

wherever you are, you are always hoping for a thriller but it is

:45:23.:45:28.

always pretty good, when you see the team under all the pressure and

:45:29.:45:31.

expected to win come out and perform on the big stage, it is great stuff.

:45:32.:45:37.

The difference with water polo is every time Serbia get the ball, they

:45:38.:45:39.

can run 30 seconds off the clock. You can't play a full press against

:45:40.:45:50.

them, with two minutes to go, if it wasn't two goal difference that

:45:51.:45:52.

Croatians would be pressing them. They know the game is gone. We are

:45:53.:46:03.

going through the motions right now. Have a bit of a ping. Pavic, it has

:46:04.:46:11.

run another 30 seconds off the clock, so just over a minute and a

:46:12.:46:16.

half to go in the gold medal match. There have been some marvellous

:46:17.:46:20.

moments and I'm glad they won buy a lot and the controversial moment in

:46:21.:46:25.

the first period hasn't counted. If they had been down to six men in the

:46:26.:46:30.

entire game it could have. They will have something to say about that

:46:31.:46:33.

because it could have been a massive turning point in the first quarter

:46:34.:46:38.

of the final. He's still moaning about the turnover decision. Had it

:46:39.:46:42.

been seen he would have been kicked out, but you can't ask the referee

:46:43.:46:46.

is to make a decision on something they don't see.

:46:47.:46:53.

So the celebrations will start very soon on the Serbian bench. Dejan

:46:54.:47:00.

Savic might find himself in the water as well, he might do well to

:47:01.:47:04.

dispense a very valuable since his pocket. Get rid of the mobile phone,

:47:05.:47:10.

get it out. Croatia, who won the gold in London, not for the first

:47:11.:47:16.

time since I going to come up short against the Serbs. There will be a

:47:17.:47:22.

late exclusion for Stefan Mitrovic. Just 30 odd seconds left to go on

:47:23.:47:29.

the game though. Is there one more goal in this for Croatia, just add a

:47:30.:47:34.

bit of respectability to the scoreline? It's Garcia. Again, it's

:47:35.:47:39.

saved by Branislav Mitrovic. And now they can celebrate. There's 18

:47:40.:47:43.

seconds to go, they are hugging on the bench already. Serbia are going

:47:44.:47:49.

to win the gold medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Just the final

:47:50.:47:57.

few seconds. A brilliant tournament, and they have come up with a big

:47:58.:48:02.

performance when it mattered, as the hooter goes, and they are all in the

:48:03.:48:07.

water. Dejan Savic is in the water, no, it's one of the coaches, Dejan

:48:08.:48:13.

Savic might find him in a minute. What a performance by Serbia.

:48:14.:48:20.

Mitrovic the goalkeeper played his part. It Serbia, the gold medal

:48:21.:48:25.

winners, the full-time score, Croatia seven, Serbia 11.

:48:26.:48:33.

STUDIO: Absolutely brilliant stuff, just a

:48:34.:48:37.

reminder, that is what it's all about, quite a few people asking

:48:38.:48:41.

about watching water polo for the first time, about the things they

:48:42.:48:45.

put over their ears, it's to protect their areas because it is a violent

:48:46.:48:50.

sport. Croatia were aiming for back-to-back gold medals, they were

:48:51.:48:54.

the favourites. The Serbians were desperate for Olympic gold. They've

:48:55.:48:58.

done it. I hope you enjoyed that. That's the first time you've ever

:48:59.:49:03.

watched water polo, it's a fantastic sport to watch and they have

:49:04.:49:06.

produced a gold medal winning performance and its Serbia who take

:49:07.:49:14.

the title here in Rio. Croatians, who know what it's like to be

:49:15.:49:17.

Olympic cup champions, will have to make do with the silver medal. It's

:49:18.:49:23.

safe to say that's probably the last speedos we will see on BBC Four. He

:49:24.:49:30.

was very happy as well, wasn't he? Right, listen, we are here, sorry, I

:49:31.:49:36.

sound a bit rude there, listen! We are here and told to weigh in the

:49:37.:49:40.

morning. One of the things we have coming up a bit later on is two

:49:41.:49:48.

bronze medal matches for tae kwon do British athletes, Bianca Walkden and

:49:49.:49:56.

Mahama Cho. At 1:30am Mo Farah will be running his 5000 metres to try to

:49:57.:50:03.

add to the 10,000 metres he has already won won, that will be on BBC

:50:04.:50:07.

One. Lots of people asking about the best bits thing. The editor says he

:50:08.:50:11.

will promise to run it at the end, is that a promise? You might do. RU

:50:12.:50:17.

going to do it, or not? He will do it, he will do it again. Oh, OK, or

:50:18.:50:26.

we might run Maria. We will run one of them, either Maria or the best

:50:27.:50:31.

bits, and BBC sport will try to put them out as well because bizarrely

:50:32.:50:34.

quite a few of you would like to watch it, which is very nice of you.

:50:35.:50:38.

We are going to take you, we watched water polo, but volleyball has been

:50:39.:50:42.

something else which you have really enjoyed over the last few days. This

:50:43.:50:46.

is the women's volleyball gold medal match taking place later, China

:50:47.:50:51.

against Serbia again, we will show you the bronze medal match which

:50:52.:50:56.

took place earlier, this is the USA, they lost in their semifinal, taking

:50:57.:51:00.

on the Netherlands. It was a very tight first set. We are going to

:51:01.:51:04.

join it at the start of the second set. Best of five, remember, Clayton

:51:05.:51:09.

Lucas and Britt Park of all other commentators. Time for some

:51:10.:51:11.

volleyball on BBC Four. The ball is too tight to the net,

:51:12.:51:32.

and unforced error. Another reception is quite shallow on this,

:51:33.:51:35.

I don't know if they're trying to take balls over hand and serve

:51:36.:51:42.

reception, or if they are just... Challenging that, but... They are

:51:43.:51:47.

totally set up for an overhand serve receive, yet they didn't try to move

:51:48.:51:50.

backwards and pass the ball and they are completely out of position. If

:51:51.:51:55.

that's what they want to do, then as you have pointed out they need to be

:51:56.:52:01.

a lot deeper, if they are going to underhand pass, it is they are in

:52:02.:52:05.

the right place for a volley get the are trying to underhand pass the

:52:06.:52:07.

ball. It doesn't make sense right now. We Getty has told them to

:52:08.:52:13.

volley it. That's good from Petersen, not good control. Is a

:52:14.:52:23.

good swing for a bump set, it makes for a different ball when the set

:52:24.:52:29.

has to set a ball underhand opposed up overhand. A great swing to get

:52:30.:52:31.

them out of that. I was almost Vero tempo from Rachel

:52:32.:52:45.

Adams, as the bench goes through their point winning dance routine.

:52:46.:52:53.

-- Vero tempo. Rachel Adams just scorches balls, she's incredibly

:52:54.:52:56.

athletic as I mentioned time and time again. It's slow fun to see an

:52:57.:53:04.

energy like that, she brings great energy and she's been out there,

:53:05.:53:08.

ride or die delivering night in and night out. Plays her volleyball in

:53:09.:53:12.

Italy. One of the top leagues in

:53:13.:53:23.

professional volleyball. Along with Turkey and also Russia. Quite a few

:53:24.:53:28.

of the Netherlands players play their volleyball in Turkey. That one

:53:29.:53:36.

not quite making it over. Kimberly Hill puts that one down.

:53:37.:54:04.

She knows quite a few of the Dutch players all too well, being

:54:05.:54:07.

team-mates with some of them in Istanbul. They know what threat she

:54:08.:54:16.

is. This is a very good start from the

:54:17.:54:28.

USA, they are putting pressure on the Netherlands service, who are not

:54:29.:54:32.

able to get in attacks, relying on big hits through the outside. That

:54:33.:54:37.

continues to put pressure on, that one has gone through the arms.

:54:38.:54:58.

Another error from the US, they were looking pretty good in this second

:54:59.:55:05.

set. It's Netherlands to bounce back, it seems there's quite a lot

:55:06.:55:08.

of fragility on both sides of the net.

:55:09.:55:27.

Well, that was brilliant, absolutely brilliant. If the Americans have a

:55:28.:55:38.

chance to feed the middle, it would be good to do it, and do it often.

:55:39.:55:45.

That was some hit but also what a set from Glass as well, pivoting on

:55:46.:55:51.

a sixpence. A great ball in to make it all happen. Passing is key. That

:55:52.:55:57.

one is dropped like a stone, right on to the baseline.

:55:58.:56:05.

It looked to be going way out. It's landed way in.

:56:06.:56:18.

Good ally buy the line judge. -- a good I buy the line judge.

:56:19.:56:54.

Again, it's relying on malevolence going wide. They've had no middle

:56:55.:57:02.

attack so far in the second set. -- it's relying on the Netherlands

:57:03.:57:06.

going wide. Very few in the first either.

:57:07.:57:21.

Dijkema aces the USA. Like a harmless float serve, Hills let it

:57:22.:57:30.

go. Interesting body language by Murphy, she knew it was in and ran

:57:31.:57:35.

out of the way. That's her responsibility to call that ball in

:57:36.:57:39.

or out, either you talk somebody into it, or if you know, you go. Are

:57:40.:57:48.

you in favour of passing unit only responsible for calling ball in out,

:57:49.:57:54.

letting them deal with it, or having someone for example your opposite

:57:55.:57:56.

players who are moving and running around and not necessarily getting

:57:57.:58:00.

the whole ball flight helping out and calling whether it is on out?

:58:01.:58:06.

Good question. There's layers to it. Your main passing responsibility

:58:07.:58:12.

row, it's important for them to talk that through, but you don't want to

:58:13.:58:14.

dodge ball the tin. Larson has done an incredible job

:58:15.:58:31.

this match, she has really created and established the presence of the

:58:32.:58:36.

ball control player. She's really stepped up and had her presence be

:58:37.:58:39.

known. More trouble here for the

:58:40.:58:52.

Netherlands and the USA now open up the two point lead. We just see how

:58:53.:58:59.

important the first parties -- passes but also how important a good

:59:00.:59:03.

serve is, not only saying I'm going to hit the ball as hard as I can,

:59:04.:59:08.

that's one strategy, but also the tactical serving of where you put

:59:09.:59:12.

the ball on the court makes a huge difference as well. It's important

:59:13.:59:18.

to have all different styles of serving within the same team. You

:59:19.:59:23.

have a tactical float server, you will have a powered jump stops --

:59:24.:59:29.

topspin server, a lot of athletes have created these hybrids are nasty

:59:30.:59:32.

to try to pass. It looks like a float, has a bit of spin to it, so

:59:33.:59:37.

to have all those different options and threats constantly keeps the

:59:38.:59:42.

serve reception off balance and not comfortable going float serve, float

:59:43.:59:49.

serve, float, serve, you get into a rhythm, you get into a groove but if

:59:50.:59:53.

you have to deal with the heavy jumps, jump stops bin and then a

:59:54.:59:59.

float serve you are always having to adjust your strength and platform

:00:00.:00:05.

accordingly. 50 jump serves, or 50 float serves, which would you rather

:00:06.:00:17.

pass? in a probably 50 jump serves. -- probably 50 jump serves. The

:00:18.:00:27.

float can get squirrely. Requires a lot of discipline, especially within

:00:28.:00:31.

the last metre that that ball gets upon you, to track it all the way

:00:32.:00:36.

in. Sometimes jump serve, it is heavy but because of the spin, you

:00:37.:00:41.

can the spin and now there are coloured balls, you can predict some

:00:42.:00:48.

spin and see it. You are able to just present a platform and create a

:00:49.:00:53.

backboard for it. Float serve, you have to do a lot of the work because

:00:54.:00:57.

as it bounces, you have got dance with it. It is the USA who are

:00:58.:01:04.

dancing right now as they have a 3-point lead.

:01:05.:01:16.

Balkestein-Grothues has come in but unable to do anything with her first

:01:17.:01:23.

effort. Sloetjes, ever reliable, getting the block out. Stoltenborg

:01:24.:01:31.

is coming in. A bit of extra height in the front row. It is a direct

:01:32.:01:34.

replacement, set for setter. Good serve, although it did look as

:01:35.:01:48.

if Hill failed to make any movement at all to adjust to that float

:01:49.:01:55.

serve. It got on her pretty quick, those arms were just a little bit

:01:56.:01:56.

late. She did a great job they're getting

:01:57.:02:12.

the platform out away from her little bit sooner and it created a

:02:13.:02:17.

perfect pass. Felicio Blasse have all three options, if not more, in

:02:18.:02:31.

that situation -- Alicia Glass. Sometimes, it can give you

:02:32.:02:34.

anticipation, you consider platform the ball will ricochet off of, but

:02:35.:02:41.

if it is late, there is a bit of a surprise factor. So the earlier

:02:42.:02:44.

setter can see a platform, for whatever reason, it really helps for

:02:45.:02:50.

the optics. For those of you thinking about your passing

:02:51.:02:53.

platforms, ask yourself, do you swing your arms at the ball or do

:02:54.:02:57.

you move your legs and keep your platform is solid. Based on what we

:02:58.:03:02.

have been talking about, which one is a set are more likely to

:03:03.:03:06.

appreciate in terms of which direction the ball will going. If

:03:07.:03:09.

you ask a setter, they will say don't swing your arms. They want to

:03:10.:03:15.

see where that ball is coming within half a metre or so, which makes a

:03:16.:03:20.

massive difference. That is lovely swing from de Kruijf, over the top

:03:21.:03:24.

of Hill. Brilliantly emphasised by the super slow mode.

:03:25.:04:20.

It is getting better and better for the USA. However, they were in this

:04:21.:04:27.

position in the first set, up by four. They were pinned back to 17

:04:28.:04:30.

all. The coach calling a time-out. One metre over the net, nobody's

:04:31.:04:47.

moving. OK? I don't see any air shots. Let's go.

:04:48.:04:56.

Interesting comments from Guidetti. Sometimes you have to put your boots

:04:57.:05:03.

on the ground. Sometimes it is difficult to go, OK, we have to play

:05:04.:05:08.

the number one team in a world for a bronze medal, what are our chances.

:05:09.:05:13.

Just little reminder sly, they are human too, it is not like they are

:05:14.:05:18.

playing out of their minds. They are not sky-high right now. Make the

:05:19.:05:24.

right call on the in out balls. Just tighten it up on their side of the

:05:25.:05:28.

net. And sometimes that just keeps everybody mortal. The first job is

:05:29.:05:37.

done, the Netherlands get their side out on the back of the time-out.

:05:38.:05:42.

Robinson comes in for more passing and defensive duties. He'll will go

:05:43.:05:51.

for a sit down. -- Hill. Robinson has done a great job within her

:05:52.:05:55.

role, checking in and delivering passes like that. She has been dimes

:05:56.:06:02.

this entire tournament and knowing her role, accepting her role, and

:06:03.:06:07.

stepping in with great energy. We saw her in the semifinal match get

:06:08.:06:13.

the started later in the match. She didn't start... You know, I later

:06:14.:06:19.

couple of the sets, but delivered, delivered, delivered for team USA,

:06:20.:06:22.

and with a great attitude, and that is what you need. The theme for USA

:06:23.:06:28.

is all in and we are better together. She didn't start the

:06:29.:06:41.

match, but trying to get her team back into this one. They need to

:06:42.:06:52.

find something soon, they could be 2-0 down, there is no room for

:06:53.:06:54.

error, no freebies allowed. Both teams are doing pretty well at

:06:55.:07:21.

going block out and exposing the outside blockers by the pins.

:07:22.:07:33.

Balkestein-Grothues goes off and Pietersen replaces her. More height

:07:34.:07:36.

and power in the front row. The bench desperate for the team to

:07:37.:07:58.

do well. This is a great pick-up. And then a great finish from

:07:59.:08:00.

Pietersen. Is important to get the right

:08:01.:08:38.

balance of information to players. It could be one or two points

:08:39.:08:44.

brothers ba, but not overloading them going back onto the court. --

:08:45.:08:50.

for others. The coach discusses offence and the attack. Assistant

:08:51.:08:56.

coach discusses defence, how to stop them. And it is nice, because you

:08:57.:09:05.

are in transition so much from fence to de-fence, fence to the fence,

:09:06.:09:11.

that you kind of have is very distinct voices whether you are in

:09:12.:09:14.

one or the other -- are fence to defence.

:09:15.:09:19.

The Netherlands creep back in to within one.

:09:20.:09:32.

Free ball. And that one has hit the antenna. Great gig from Robinson.

:09:33.:09:46.

Robinson also got that covered, she was in the right position and she

:09:47.:09:51.

salvaged that play. Just adds that extra bit of pressure, Sloetjes also

:09:52.:10:00.

hit the antenna, so a double whammy about how she will feel about that

:10:01.:10:04.

play. You have to be real sharp going up against an American block.

:10:05.:10:08.

They are sealing things up. Doing their job.

:10:09.:10:16.

Nice play from Pietersen. This time getting it off the block and away.

:10:17.:10:23.

The USA spent an awful lot of time working on their block defence in

:10:24.:10:27.

the run-up to the Olympic Games and you have two credit that to the

:10:28.:10:34.

coach, when he played in 1984, the USA had a very distinct style of

:10:35.:10:38.

defence, played half a metre in from the net and took all teams on and

:10:39.:10:43.

the block defence was one of the key factors for their two gold medals.

:10:44.:10:47.

Almost a bit of a change of in the way we saw men's volleyball being

:10:48.:10:52.

played from the US. Using all that experience and bringing that to the

:10:53.:10:58.

fore with the women's team. Now the USA will be feeling a lot better

:10:59.:11:03.

with the way things are going in this set, particularly with that

:11:04.:11:04.

celebration from the bench. Looking at the two different

:11:05.:11:22.

pictures, slight frustration for the US, but OK, that is fine, and then

:11:23.:11:27.

the whole hanging on, that bit of hope that we can get back in this

:11:28.:11:32.

from the Netherlands. Well watched by Alicia Glass. Jordan Larsson

:11:33.:11:42.

scored that point, in the right spot at the right time and taking

:11:43.:11:46.

authority on broken place. It is nice to see that from a player. She

:11:47.:11:54.

calms the whole court, when Alicia Glass takes that great pass off of

:11:55.:11:58.

awareness and put up such a hittable ball. Larsson is the anchor right

:11:59.:12:09.

now for team USA. Good hit of the block from Banwarth, but not

:12:10.:12:16.

everyone was linking into the play. Kelly not LinkedIn, not able to back

:12:17.:12:21.

it up. So a fortuitous side out for the Netherlands. Still one behind.

:12:22.:12:28.

Pietersen with the serve, the USA looking for side out.

:12:29.:12:36.

That is really good covering. But no stopping Sloetjes and it is level.

:12:37.:12:48.

The Dutch fans going wild, the USA ball didn't come back.

:12:49.:12:58.

USA call time-out. As we come out of the time-out, talk Talisa. We have

:12:59.:13:14.

been playing volleyball a long time to play in a great battles like

:13:15.:13:18.

this. I like the way they responded and now is our chance to respond to

:13:19.:13:24.

a good angle. A hard approach and a good swing. High edges at about

:13:25.:13:30.

time-out. Two good targets in 11 and eight, get after one of them. Really

:13:31.:13:37.

good to see some specific pertinent information being given to Jordan

:13:38.:13:41.

Larsson away from the this is a good battle. She has been given some very

:13:42.:13:47.

good specifics about what is going to come and what will happen and

:13:48.:13:48.

what to do. Great call. Great call. Guidetti can

:13:49.:14:12.

moan and whinge all he likes but that is a set that should have been

:14:13.:14:16.

going in that straight line and you can see the check and readjustment

:14:17.:14:21.

from the spike, no, it wasn't a great set. He is not happy about the

:14:22.:14:25.

double touch call, but it is going to get him into trouble here.

:14:26.:14:31.

That is a big block by Stoltenborg on Jordan Larsson and now it is

:14:32.:14:51.

level again. But still, though, despite that, it is advantage USA.

:14:52.:14:58.

They are siding out to have a set point.

:14:59.:15:02.

Good ball in. And a quick ball out wide. Larsson beats the block, beat

:15:03.:15:11.

the defence and it is set point for the USA. It is great to see the game

:15:12.:15:20.

developer from... If you can watch set from the baseline and see both

:15:21.:15:24.

sides of the court, you appreciate how quickly that ball moves.

:15:25.:15:45.

Both coaches speaking English. Guidetti's not as first language,

:15:46.:15:53.

but being Italian, the fast pace of what he's trying to say is you

:15:54.:15:58.

compared that to Karch Kiraly, who is almost in slow motion, making

:15:59.:16:03.

sure the messages clear, understood, and giving it time to sink in.

:16:04.:16:08.

Guidetti is like let's go, let's go, almost over egging it. You've got to

:16:09.:16:12.

trust these guys know their teams extremely well. Step on the gas and

:16:13.:16:22.

when to pull them back, went to calm them down and went to rest them up.

:16:23.:16:27.

He knows his team extremely, extremely well. It's a game of

:16:28.:16:32.

angles, creating angles, taking angles away and those angles are

:16:33.:16:38.

ever changing. So, so important. The information that he was giving his

:16:39.:16:44.

squad. Wow that was impressive because it was a really good dig by

:16:45.:16:51.

Stam-Pilon and you expected Sloetjes to put it away but what time for the

:16:52.:16:56.

USA to give themselves a second point. You get the feeling of the

:16:57.:17:04.

USA take this one, we may well not be -- there may well not be a way

:17:05.:17:11.

back for the Netherlands. That was landed in. It was a long look for

:17:12.:17:16.

the USA team as the ball went to the sideline. It's all square again. At

:17:17.:17:23.

the moment the Netherlands have yet to engineer a set point, it's still

:17:24.:17:28.

the USA and control. As long as they can keep sliding out they can keep

:17:29.:17:39.

putting pressure on. A good dig, a great swing from Pietersen. Now they

:17:40.:17:43.

have engineered a set point, 26-25 to the Netherlands. The pressure

:17:44.:17:48.

swings back now to the USA. Oh, they've done it! First time of

:17:49.:18:07.

asking, would you believe it, a serve from the Netherlands. They set

:18:08.:18:15.

-- take set two 27-25. It's very much game on here, it's one set all.

:18:16.:18:20.

STUDIO: So that's 1-1. We shall be back

:18:21.:18:23.

there very shortly to continue our coverage of bit of volleyball but

:18:24.:18:28.

just to let you know, if you've been watching BBC Four for the last few

:18:29.:18:33.

hours, absolute madness up and down here on Copacabana a few moments ago

:18:34.:18:37.

because Brazil have just won the gold medal match in the football, it

:18:38.:18:42.

was on BBC One. It went to penalties against Germany and Neymar was the

:18:43.:18:46.

golden boy who got the golden goal, I suppose, to give them is a gold

:18:47.:18:50.

medal and loads of people, there's a bar just behind the sand castle here

:18:51.:18:55.

of my left shoulder, that side, can we see that, you can't see it? OK,

:18:56.:19:03.

there's a bar there and they all ran right across into the sea. She's

:19:04.:19:09.

celebrating down there, look at her! Look at this for a dance. That is

:19:10.:19:14.

how it's done, the fellow behind her, what's he talking about? Oh, I

:19:15.:19:23.

bet he's British! He's got a cup of tea. Do you want to come on? I

:19:24.:19:32.

reckon she might speak English. We'll get her on we'll find out some

:19:33.:19:37.

reaction from these Brazilians, shall we, about winning the gold

:19:38.:19:42.

medal match. We're going to go back to the volleyball a bit later on.

:19:43.:19:46.

You are sending loads of texts and tweets, which is lovely, but most of

:19:47.:19:50.

them are saying how much you are enjoying things so we're not going

:19:51.:19:53.

to go all Steve Wright and say isn't a brilliant but the fact you are

:19:54.:19:56.

appreciating things is very nice, just clearing the desk, just

:19:57.:20:01.

clearing the desk. Bought this earlier on, if my wife is watching,

:20:02.:20:07.

that could have been horrendous, this is what you are getting when

:20:08.:20:13.

you get home, I don't know why I put on a Yorkshire accent! Are they

:20:14.:20:16.

coming in? Have they gone? They are coming in. I don't know who these

:20:17.:20:22.

people are. It's another one of those situations that could go

:20:23.:20:26.

horribly wrong, but we quite enjoy that on BBC Four. Hello. You live on

:20:27.:20:32.

the BBC. Good evening, nice see you. This is my wife. Hello, nice to see

:20:33.:20:45.

you. Sonia. Gary. Gary and Sagna. Sonia, we are just talking about the

:20:46.:20:50.

fact that Brazil have won the Olympic gold medal so talk us

:20:51.:20:54.

through it, why is it so important? We saw you dancing, the smile on

:20:55.:20:58.

your face is lovely. Yes, first because it's Germany, isn't it, and

:20:59.:21:06.

we lost... 7-1 in the World Cup. Don't mention it! We were afraid

:21:07.:21:12.

because we were at the Maracana as well, so the staging was a bit

:21:13.:21:16.

scary, but we won! Would you like to see the winning penalty again? We

:21:17.:21:22.

will show everybody at home. Mrs Neymar's winning penalty. Germany

:21:23.:21:25.

dismissed there, the golden boy steps up. Wow! Wonderful! Look at

:21:26.:21:33.

these scenes, Sonia. The Maracana was packed. There have been gold

:21:34.:21:38.

medals in other sports but football is king here, isn't it? This is the

:21:39.:21:43.

one Brazil needed to win. Yes! They've been chasing it for like 50

:21:44.:21:49.

years. Never won Olympic gold in the football. It's always been really

:21:50.:21:53.

important for them come finally they've managed to do it at home,

:21:54.:21:58.

which is great. Sonia, every Brazilian, every local, we'd love to

:21:59.:22:01.

get your reaction to the Olympics generally. I imagine it's tempered

:22:02.:22:05.

slightly by what has happened in the last few minutes but overall how do

:22:06.:22:09.

you think you will look back on these Olympic Games? We're in the

:22:10.:22:14.

final weekend now. For others it was a great experience, a great

:22:15.:22:18.

opportunity to get some knowledge about what the Olympic spirit is

:22:19.:22:22.

because we don't have this knowledge that you guys all around the world

:22:23.:22:28.

have so I think that was a good present that the country, all the

:22:29.:22:32.

world has given to our country, so now we have a bit of the Olympic

:22:33.:22:37.

spirits. What's the English view of these Rio games from you, Gary? It's

:22:38.:22:42.

been good, it's been surprisingly good, really. I've lived in Brazil

:22:43.:22:46.

now for 24 years and I don't know that much about the Olympics and

:22:47.:22:49.

athletics and stuff, but I think they've learned a lot and

:22:50.:22:52.

participation has been good. The people have really got behind it,

:22:53.:22:56.

which is great. Hopefully it will leave a legacy and they will carry

:22:57.:23:00.

on. Genuinely, do you think because the football, there was so much

:23:01.:23:12.

pressure on that team to perform, now that has been done do you think

:23:13.:23:16.

it will help people to embrace the Olympics hero little? I think so,

:23:17.:23:18.

totally, I guess. Yes. Look at that smile! I was in Rio for the World

:23:19.:23:23.

Cup, when it was at its height and Brazil were winning games and doing

:23:24.:23:26.

incredibly well. I was also here at the other end of Copacabana when the

:23:27.:23:34.

Brazil game was lost, to Germany, by 7-1. It poured down, monsoon rain,

:23:35.:23:39.

and the Brazilians were not happy. What's going to happen in result

:23:40.:23:45.

tonight? A big party, a big party, let's go! I have to stay on the

:23:46.:23:52.

tally. We came to say goodbye to you, we have been seeing you, we are

:23:53.:23:57.

big fans of you. We came here to say goodbye and tell you to come back,

:23:58.:24:03.

you have to come back. People on BBC Four runner going to think... Is

:24:04.:24:11.

very weird because here in Brazil... Maria's dad came here. Her dad and

:24:12.:24:16.

mum came here. Her mum and then they travelled. The thing has been weird.

:24:17.:24:23.

It's got a bit of traction in the UK but in Brazil the whole Maria thing

:24:24.:24:27.

has been a big story! Sometimes I walk down the street and people are

:24:28.:24:31.

laughing at me, saying that's the Maria man. In Brazil it has been in

:24:32.:24:35.

the papers, on the television, and she's a big star now, isn't she? She

:24:36.:24:41.

is, and her family as well. Isn't it? Listen, it's been great to have

:24:42.:24:48.

UN, Sonia and Gary, thank you much. We said a cup of tea, it's not

:24:49.:24:52.

actually a cup of tea. Go and enjoy the rest of your evening, thank you

:24:53.:24:56.

so much. Lovely to see you. Good luck. Lovely to see you both. We are

:24:57.:25:01.

waiting for you to come back here. Thank you for applying a bit more

:25:02.:25:06.

pressure. Goodbye. Goodbye. Excellent. It's going from stranger

:25:07.:25:13.

to stranger this BBC Four programme. In about half an hour time we will

:25:14.:25:19.

have the taekwondo bronze medal matches, live, then Mo Farah on BBC

:25:20.:25:23.

One will be raising for his 5000 metres. But we will rejoin the

:25:24.:25:27.

volleyball. This is the bonds medal match, so we left it at 1-1. The

:25:28.:25:33.

United States won the third set so we will rejoin it with them 2-1 up,

:25:34.:25:38.

it's best of five. The Netherlands have to win this next set to keep

:25:39.:25:43.

the game going. 2-1 to the USA, best of five, the volleyball bronze medal

:25:44.:25:47.

much. Lovely to have Sonia and Gary on and we shall return to the

:25:48.:25:49.

volleyball. COMMENTATOR:

:25:50.:25:58.

The fourth set, the USA serving. It's a must win set for the

:25:59.:26:03.

Netherlands. That one doesn't make it back in. Quinta Steenbergen has

:26:04.:26:11.

come in, the first swing for her was a good one. Stoltenborg keeps her

:26:12.:26:15.

place on court for the Netherlands. No place for Dijkema. A good leave

:26:16.:26:26.

by Anne Buijs. The Netherlands making plenty of changes, whereas

:26:27.:26:31.

it's the same line-up for the USA. Steven Burke back for her first

:26:32.:26:41.

serve. -- Steenbergen. Karsta Lowe has replaced Kelly Murphy, the only

:26:42.:26:43.

difference for the United States. Lowe has created that fifth gear for

:26:44.:26:56.

the Americans that they have needed down the stretch. Good recognition

:26:57.:27:01.

by Karch to make that switch before it became an issue of knowing that

:27:02.:27:08.

she's kind of that breath of fresh air and just that extra energy.

:27:09.:27:31.

Karsta Lowe, going back to serve along with Carli Lloyd, two of the

:27:32.:27:38.

least experienced players for the USA team. Karsta Lowe just 34

:27:39.:27:42.

international caps, Carli Lloyd just 32, really coming into this team

:27:43.:27:46.

late on in the day in this Olympic cycle but making a huge impact.

:27:47.:27:55.

Again -- against Serbia she did an incredible job. Lowe did by coming

:27:56.:28:00.

in and giving them that extra Ops. She was unstoppable. She made Serbia

:28:01.:28:03.

really have to work for it. So the USA edge in front. In what we

:28:04.:28:18.

can expect to be another nail-biting set.

:28:19.:28:28.

That put under pressure. A free ball here for the USA. Larson slowed

:28:29.:28:37.

down. Good play from Larson, taking her hands out of the way. That spin

:28:38.:28:45.

to the line doesn't work, off the block. The Netherlands believe it

:28:46.:28:50.

is, the referee says no. Is there going to be a challenge? It will

:28:51.:28:55.

have to be quick. It looks like there is going to be a challenge.

:28:56.:29:08.

It doesn't looked like it has caught Glass. The cameras will be able to

:29:09.:29:22.

tell unequivocally whether or not it did catch her for arm.

:29:23.:29:30.

Guidetti's view will be the same on a monitor that we are having a look

:29:31.:29:40.

at. It is rejected. So USA lead by two.

:29:41.:29:59.

First time we've seen Sloetjes have her hit in regulation, and the ball

:30:00.:30:15.

go on the floor. Larson even got a little bit, she didn't make it in

:30:16.:30:20.

for the triple block. Both teams trying to find a bit of rhythm, not

:30:21.:30:25.

so many rallies at the moment. The first phase is working for both.

:30:26.:30:34.

Everybody adjusting, tweaking it just a little bit. I

:30:35.:30:48.

Larson got in on that one and it creates a different result. Very

:30:49.:30:55.

difficult for the block to stay with their hitter and making back in time

:30:56.:30:59.

to help out on the pipe, because those pipes are fast. The USA have

:31:00.:31:12.

opened up the lead. Guidetti not happened with the distribution of

:31:13.:31:17.

Stoltenborg. Excellent play from Alicia Glass, Stoltenberg had head

:31:18.:31:23.

over her position. Steenburgen has got the entire length of the court

:31:24.:31:29.

to run to get into position, couldn't help out. She had to go

:31:30.:31:38.

coast-to-coast and Larson making it all the way coast-to-coast and shut

:31:39.:31:47.

them down. Netherlands think there was a net touch.

:31:48.:32:07.

So no more challenges left for the Netherlands. They burned those

:32:08.:32:11.

early. Good deed. Looking for block out but

:32:12.:32:34.

not finding it. A rice mile as the bluff didn't play-off. Knowing that

:32:35.:32:44.

was her best option in that play, what a good pool of the hands.

:32:45.:32:49.

Recognising that she was just looking for something. That is a

:32:50.:32:57.

fantastic block from Steenburgen, cast alone, one-on-one. The USA's

:32:58.:33:09.

footwork around the centre had ripped the Netherlands apart and

:33:10.:33:15.

that is an error from Lowe. I love to see off-speed stuff and the

:33:16.:33:21.

wisdom that Larson brings to the table is wonderful for team USA,

:33:22.:33:24.

knowing that you don't have to just blast away, blast away and block

:33:25.:33:31.

every time. Yes, they have been scoring a lot of points off the

:33:32.:33:35.

Netherlands block but for her to be able to chop down the line and avoid

:33:36.:33:41.

the block, it creates a whole other worry for the Netherlands. It must

:33:42.:33:46.

be getting a little bit worrying now for the Netherlands. The USA are

:33:47.:33:51.

looking more competent, stronger, the block inspiring. It has been

:33:52.:33:58.

vital that the Netherlands stay with the USA and get their side active.

:33:59.:34:01.

It is not happening. Well, the USA right now are very

:34:02.:34:34.

much having their moment. You could say they are making hay while the

:34:35.:34:38.

sun shines. It is shining brightly on them here. Four points up, the

:34:39.:34:44.

Netherlands with no challenges, time outs being used.

:34:45.:35:00.

And again, Hill. But the ball to close for the net and Lowe was ready

:35:01.:35:15.

to have a swing. Keeping it off the floor, nice rally. Larson overplayed

:35:16.:35:24.

that just a bit. You want to give your hitter the best option. Just

:35:25.:35:28.

wrapped it. Larsson goes back, Hill comes in.

:35:29.:35:49.

Very different style. Uses her height well, doesn't have the range

:35:50.:35:56.

shot that Larson has. Brilliant, really cricket. Steenburgen has done

:35:57.:36:03.

a great job since coming in. When you know and you know and you know

:36:04.:36:08.

that that ball has gone for a kill, you can start that yell a little bit

:36:09.:36:10.

early. Brilliant angle. That is what Lowe

:36:11.:36:26.

brings to the party, she is one of the best hitters of the ball.

:36:27.:36:34.

Murphy, the starting opposite is 6-2 lefty and then they just reload.

:36:35.:36:40.

Going higher and harder. It is getting better and better for the

:36:41.:36:48.

USA. Thatcher sums it up, really. Rachel Adams, after making that the

:36:49.:36:53.

serve, celebration and then turns around and just tries to refocus

:36:54.:36:59.

herself. Get back into the zone. Ghetto Freeserve routine ready.

:37:00.:37:09.

-- get her pre-serve routine ready. Good blocking by Sloetjes. Well back

:37:10.:37:27.

by Alicia Glass. And another quality swing by Lowe. Man alive. Once

:37:28.:37:41.

again, Larson with the perfect sets to create that opportunity and it is

:37:42.:37:44.

our last time-out for the Netherlands.

:37:45.:38:01.

They are defending and receiving, we have stopped defend and receive. Go,

:38:02.:38:06.

go, go. Adams once again with the serve.

:38:07.:38:34.

That is a good deed. It won't come back, though. Just a huge hit from

:38:35.:38:38.

Sloetjes. It wasn't as if she was really

:38:39.:38:49.

driving her hips threw the ball, it was more of a step up and then

:38:50.:38:57.

unloading on the ball. We see in the men's game, the players really

:38:58.:39:01.

driving through, using all of their body weight into the ball to

:39:02.:39:06.

generate that extra power. Not quite the same per some of the women's

:39:07.:39:11.

players, but even so, again, that is a classic example, driving through

:39:12.:39:19.

and unloading onto the floor. Using the momentum of the jump, putting

:39:20.:39:27.

the whole body into that. To be able to have so many different options,

:39:28.:39:32.

if you are kind of stuck and you don't have that large of a runway or

:39:33.:39:37.

broad jump capacity, to just be able to go high and snappy and really

:39:38.:39:43.

with it, sometimes it doesn't have to be hard, it just has to be fast.

:39:44.:39:49.

Focus from Murphy, who has replaced low. Big swing from Plak. One of the

:39:50.:40:12.

most ungainly actions I think I have seen for a while. Sometimes you see

:40:13.:40:15.

a player with an extra movement with the hand before they go through the

:40:16.:40:21.

ball. Plak has got an extra movement in her right leg before she engages

:40:22.:40:26.

with the ball. She has got a very heavy arm.

:40:27.:40:36.

Joints are always being put to the test, slight hyper extensions,

:40:37.:40:44.

shoulders, you see table on some of the athletes' shoulders, and

:40:45.:40:51.

incredibly mobile joint of the body, the care and the strength and the

:40:52.:40:55.

flexibility is just imperative for all of these athletes and those

:40:56.:40:59.

joints get put to the test. Time-out called by the USA. In transition

:41:00.:41:10.

let's all be good. Get two or three Marcus up, that is a big help.

:41:11.:41:51.

If wow. She is athletic. Never ceases to impress when you see her

:41:52.:42:02.

go on that slide behind. The ability to hit the ball on the top of her

:42:03.:42:06.

jump or, in that case, on the way up. She seems pretty healthy.

:42:07.:42:23.

Does it again. A small, Miss small. And she is not missing. -- came

:42:24.:42:30.

small. It is all USA at the moment, isn't

:42:31.:42:46.

it. Five points, this is the biggest lead they have had in the match so

:42:47.:42:49.

far. Same substitution we have seen

:42:50.:43:03.

throughout the match. Robinson in for Hill.

:43:04.:43:13.

You can really hear the contact on that ball. It is a real thunderous

:43:14.:43:30.

hit from packing red day work -- from Akinradewo. They can exhale now

:43:31.:43:36.

she is back at the service line, but, man. They will be relieved that

:43:37.:43:42.

one hasn't made it over, even though Akinradewo is going off, Rachel

:43:43.:43:45.

Adams is in the front row and this just as good and presents a similar

:43:46.:43:49.

threat and the Netherlands now have to deal with three rotations. They

:43:50.:43:53.

need points here. Oh, dear, that doesn't help. Guidetti looking on

:43:54.:44:02.

thinking about what can he do, how can he change it. Is there anything

:44:03.:44:07.

he can do. Right now, the USA are making it very difficult for the

:44:08.:44:10.

Netherlands and the Netherlands aren't helping themselves with

:44:11.:44:11.

unforced errors. Good recovery. Adams played that

:44:12.:44:22.

again and it must have been Karsta Lowe who played it off the block.

:44:23.:44:28.

That one ends up being the Netherlands ball to. . That was a

:44:29.:44:30.

good get from Adams. It always makes me so nervous when

:44:31.:44:42.

you have players going full speed and then trying to hold themselves

:44:43.:44:47.

back. You are trained to play a ball and continue through the ball and

:44:48.:44:51.

let the ball continue your motion. So if the ball takes you to your

:44:52.:44:56.

right, you play the ball to your right and continue to finish it, you

:44:57.:45:00.

continue that movement and when you have a team-mate coming at you. Eat,

:45:01.:45:05.

to stop and pull back, it becomes really, really dangerous -- we have

:45:06.:45:11.

a team-mate coming at you, it becomes really dangerous to stop and

:45:12.:45:15.

pull-back. The athlete putting a hand down trying to stop themselves

:45:16.:45:17.

can cause injury as well. A few changes either side, scooters

:45:18.:45:31.

in, Karsta Lowe has come back in and Hill has come back in for Robinson

:45:32.:45:33.

-- skewed is in. -- Schoot. This is interesting. Belien has come

:45:34.:46:10.

into serve but actually Steenbergen has probably been the better server.

:46:11.:46:19.

Nice blocking, De Kruijf denying Hill, along with Sloetjes.

:46:20.:46:42.

Good covering by Hill. And that time a slightly shorter ball, quicker

:46:43.:46:52.

set, gets the block out before the Netherlands could finish their

:46:53.:46:57.

blocking. Thompson is in for Adams to serve. This is looking really

:46:58.:46:59.

good for the USA. Courtney Thompson. Oh dear, too much

:47:00.:47:21.

on that one, she's normally so reliable from serving line. A

:47:22.:47:33.

substitution reverse, Adams goes off, Sloetjes will serve for the

:47:34.:47:34.

Netherlands. There's a chance here now, Hill, and

:47:35.:48:00.

she takes it, finds a bit of wriggle room to go off the block, and out.

:48:01.:48:05.

Anxious looks up to the scoreboard from the Netherlands players, as

:48:06.:48:09.

Hill goes over the top of Dijkema. Good book, really good save from

:48:10.:48:27.

Larson. It is the slide that gets the job done for the Netherlands,

:48:28.:48:32.

but it's a simple scenario now, simple to say it but three side outs

:48:33.:48:39.

and it's job done. First ball fired out, that's what you go back and

:48:40.:48:44.

tell yourself, just first ball side out and anything pass, that's a

:48:45.:48:46.

bonus. That's one of those bonuses as well

:48:47.:49:03.

because you don't have to work for that first ball side out, it's a

:49:04.:49:08.

gift. She was taking a hack on that and as she has in the front row as

:49:09.:49:14.

well, when you are getting flow the ball in the front row, it only makes

:49:15.:49:22.

sense to go back and rip a jumpy as well.

:49:23.:49:29.

Brilliant blocking for the USA. And now they are on the verge of a

:49:30.:49:35.

bronze medal, it is match point. They are getting ready to flood the

:49:36.:49:55.

court if they can do it at the first time of asking. They have five

:49:56.:49:58.

chances, how many will they need? Here with the serve. Oh, it's an ace

:49:59.:50:05.

serves, and that's it! It's all over. The USA have taken bronze

:50:06.:50:10.

here, they have broken the hearts of the Netherlands who have yet to

:50:11.:50:15.

claim an Olympic medal. It's the fifth Olympic medal for the USA.

:50:16.:50:19.

They were denied the opportunity to try and go back and get gold after

:50:20.:50:26.

failing in 2008 and 2012 with consecutive silvers, but they have

:50:27.:50:30.

bounced back here and taken bronze. They have beaten the Netherlands by

:50:31.:50:37.

three - one. STUDIO:

:50:38.:50:42.

Well done to USA, bronze medal winners, they were the favourites

:50:43.:50:47.

remember. Before it all started. But they have been in the semifinal and

:50:48.:50:51.

if you would like to see the gold medal match in the women's

:50:52.:50:55.

volleyball, that sees China take on Serbia, who we've already seen their

:50:56.:50:59.

men when the water polo gold medal match final this evening, that will

:51:00.:51:03.

be available for you at 2:15am on the Red Button, so if you want some

:51:04.:51:09.

more volleyball, the gold medal match, China against Serbia, 2:15am

:51:10.:51:11.

on the Red Button. I'll tell you what we've got lined up and make

:51:12.:51:17.

sure we mention Mo Farah, who is on BBC One at about 1:30am. Tonight,

:51:18.:51:21.

from a Brazilian perspective, it's been all about the football. Before

:51:22.:51:24.

this tournament started there were real concerns about the national

:51:25.:51:28.

side. This was probably the first own pick football tournament that

:51:29.:51:31.

they really took seriously. They've never won golden Olympics before and

:51:32.:51:40.

because of what happened in the World Cup two years ago and the way

:51:41.:51:43.

they have been playing recently, this Olympic football tournament

:51:44.:51:44.

took on added significance. Tonight, in the Maracana, which is probably

:51:45.:51:48.

one hour and 15 minutes, in this traffic, probably two hours and 15

:51:49.:51:53.

minutes, but you can get their relatively quickly, they managed to

:51:54.:51:56.

win the gold medal against Germany. Neymar was the golden boy of

:51:57.:52:01.

Brazilian football, there he is getting his medal, he scored the

:52:02.:52:07.

winning penalty, a 5-4 shoot out over Germany, it's a thrilling

:52:08.:52:11.

final. As the final goal went in up and down here on Copacabana

:52:12.:52:16.

everybody in the beach side clubs and pubs and bars screaming, car

:52:17.:52:20.

horns hooting, fireworks going off, because they know that Brazil's six

:52:21.:52:28.

gold medal of the Games is the one the vast majority of the Brazilians

:52:29.:52:32.

will hold so dear. It was 1-1 after extra time. Neymar put Brazil ahead

:52:33.:52:38.

in the 27th minute of the game. Germany's Neil Patterson was the

:52:39.:52:46.

first to miss, their fifth spot kick, and sometimes it goes wrong

:52:47.:52:50.

when you save yourself for the spot kick, we have seen it happen to

:52:51.:52:54.

Ronaldo but sometimes destiny is on your side -- Nils Petersen missed.

:52:55.:53:01.

Brazil are the Olympic champions in football. Some other news to bring

:53:02.:53:05.

you tonight. And for the second night on the trot we have Moon News.

:53:06.:53:11.

Take a look at this. The red moon is back. I know Manchester City love a

:53:12.:53:15.

bit of blue Moon book for the second night on the trot there are people

:53:16.:53:19.

up and down Copacabana taking pictures of the red moon. I think I

:53:20.:53:23.

horrendously tried to explain to you last night how that works. From what

:53:24.:53:27.

I can remember from the floor manager, Dan, and his surge of the

:53:28.:53:32.

Internet, something to do with a bit of alignment of the sun and the moon

:53:33.:53:39.

and dirt, or something in the Earth's atmosphere, and that sort of

:53:40.:53:43.

reflects on the moon. I think there's definitely a spot for me on

:53:44.:53:47.

stargazing live with explanations like that. We tried to get Brian Cox

:53:48.:53:52.

to give as a call yesterday but it didn't quite work. Right, the kite

:53:53.:53:56.

flyers are out behind is as well, the boys on the beach enjoying

:53:57.:53:59.

themselves after no doubt enjoying the football, there's been

:54:00.:54:02.

celebration going on in the surf as well. We're going to bring you some

:54:03.:54:07.

taekwondo, as promised. Today, there were great hopes for Bianca Walkden

:54:08.:54:11.

and Mahama Cho but they both lost in the semifinals, but it doesn't mean

:54:12.:54:14.

there are definitely going home without a medal because they are

:54:15.:54:17.

both involved in bronze medal matches in the next few minutes or

:54:18.:54:30.

so. Jade Jones, who won gold a few nights ago, then Lutalo Muhammad

:54:31.:54:31.

agonisingly got silver, one second on the clock, he was ahead and the

:54:32.:54:35.

guy from the ivory coach -- Ivory Coast, got a kick in. If you saw

:54:36.:54:41.

Lutalo's interview afterwards you would see how much it meant. Jade

:54:42.:54:45.

Jones is the flatmate of Bianca Walkden, who was going for gold in

:54:46.:54:49.

the heavyweights today. This is the story of Bianca's day.

:54:50.:54:56.

COMMENTATOR: That was a great one to the head

:54:57.:55:03.

there. A great head shot. She scores again. Totally outclassed the lady

:55:04.:55:12.

from Papua New Guinea. Tense times here. The first point on the board,

:55:13.:55:17.

gancho walked and finds it with the Bush gig. Closing in style and

:55:18.:55:22.

Olympic semifinal. What a performance. This one for a spot in

:55:23.:55:32.

the Olympic final. Big fighters with serious credentials, both have

:55:33.:55:36.

something to prove. An impasse at the moment. One point will make a

:55:37.:55:40.

huge difference to the momentum of this one, if it's drawn here it will

:55:41.:55:45.

go to a golden point and the first point will be the winner. The head

:55:46.:55:50.

shot that, in the last seconds Bianca Walkden will be disconsolate.

:55:51.:55:59.

Into the heavyweight final, Zheng Shuyin of China. Bianca Walkden will

:56:00.:56:04.

be devastated but she will have to pick ourselves up for the repechage.

:56:05.:56:09.

More tears in the taekwondo. We can go through to Carioca three Arena

:56:10.:56:15.

and have a word with Nick Cope, you have been there for most of the

:56:16.:56:20.

taekwondo, we will talk about Lutalo Mohammed Al-Bayati synchrony brutal

:56:21.:56:23.

interview with you did with him yesterday but as far as Bianca is

:56:24.:56:27.

involved, she was work cars world champion and we saw the tears after

:56:28.:56:31.

the semifinal where she had the chance to get through to the gold

:56:32.:56:36.

medal match. She can still go home with a bronze medal tonight.

:56:37.:56:41.

Absolutely, for those who don't know her background story, a bronze medal

:56:42.:56:45.

would be an incredible achievement. A few years ago we wondered if she

:56:46.:56:51.

would have a future in the sport. She suffered her second cruciate

:56:52.:56:55.

knee ligament injury, and really five years ago people weren't coming

:56:56.:57:01.

back from those kinds of injuries. But she made an amazing recovery and

:57:02.:57:05.

won the world title. It is testament that she was coming into an event

:57:06.:57:08.

like this thinking I'm going to be Olympic champion at the end. GB have

:57:09.:57:13.

got so much experience behind the scenes and have turned around

:57:14.:57:17.

results for Jade Jones in the past and Lutalo Mohammed, hopefully they

:57:18.:57:21.

can do some work on Bianca and win another medal, GB's third in tae

:57:22.:57:26.

kwon I know there was disappointment for Lutalo Muhammad last night but

:57:27.:57:30.

it could be more successful, who with her opponent tonight and what

:57:31.:57:33.

should we watch out for? She's up against the Moroccan, we've not had

:57:34.:57:40.

too much about her before the Olympics. Once you have qualified

:57:41.:57:47.

for it and it's not the World Championships of the continental

:57:48.:57:51.

championships you have it mix and flavour, so the fact she has been

:57:52.:57:55.

able to win through to this stage and beat European medals en route

:57:56.:57:59.

means she can be a threat, but looking at the rankings and the

:58:00.:58:02.

background and what Bianca has achieved in the past you would see

:58:03.:58:06.

her as the favourite heading into this one. What about Mahama Cho, who

:58:07.:58:10.

is coming up after this? I love the fact we say it's Cho Time. He has a

:58:11.:58:22.

fantastic chance, not in terms of just the strong fighter but the home

:58:23.:58:26.

crowd, he's up against a Brazilian. They come in with a fourth seed, the

:58:27.:58:32.

home nation, so are considered to have a decent medal prospect but

:58:33.:58:35.

because they haven't been competing for a while, we don't know what kind

:58:36.:58:39.

of form they are rings but we have seen he has been impressive today

:58:40.:58:47.

and he's feeding off the crowd. Cho, Cho Time, he loves the atmosphere

:58:48.:58:50.

and he will like to play the villain when he comes out. He has been

:58:51.:58:54.

ranked tenth, his form has been all over the place before he won the

:58:55.:58:58.

European qualification event in February. He will want to finish off

:58:59.:59:04.

this year on a high. We will see the bronze medal matches in a moment.

:59:05.:59:09.

They may come out quickly. Lutalo Mohammed, such disappointment

:59:10.:59:12.

yesterday, we see Bianca Walkden come out, but briefly, do you think

:59:13.:59:17.

he has that mental strength to come back again and do it all over again,

:59:18.:59:22.

when he has gone through so many injuries? After the interview you

:59:23.:59:25.

could see he was devastated and considering what to do next, but

:59:26.:59:31.

seeing him today, having a chat, he is focused. He is targeting Tokyo

:59:32.:59:35.

already. He once the Olympic gold medal. He's devastated but such a

:59:36.:59:43.

fighter. He went through so much to make it to London with all the

:59:44.:59:46.

controversy, he will be back. We will hopefully speak to you and

:59:47.:59:50.

Bianca and Mahama Cho after these bouts. Let's see of Bianca can win

:59:51.:59:55.

another taekwondo medal, can she get them bronze?

:59:56.:00:08.

Time for the coaches here, last bits of information from the Moroccan.

:00:09.:00:21.

Kimm Heeyoung Absolutely, bronze medal at stake here, this is the

:00:22.:00:48.

business end for the heavyweights. Let's see who can do the business

:00:49.:00:52.

here. Kimm Heeyoung from the Korean Republic. From the Korean Republic.

:00:53.:01:03.

She has the Open stands, trying to open up with a push kick to start

:01:04.:01:10.

again. Dislam doing the same. Good defence from the Moroccan, she is on

:01:11.:01:14.

the back foot at the moment. Steps forward with attempted head kick

:01:15.:01:18.

there. This one already, wasting no time. Attempt to the head from

:01:19.:01:26.

Bianca Walkden but Dislam is coming out all guns blazing so far. There

:01:27.:01:31.

is another headshot. That one makes it. That one almost scores. I think

:01:32.:01:35.

we are going to see a video replay card. I think a bit of confusion in

:01:36.:01:42.

terms of who will plead the card. The head kick was thrown by Bianca

:01:43.:01:48.

Walkden. The judges have automatically seen it. Video replay

:01:49.:01:55.

card not required. However, they can protest the card, so playing their

:01:56.:01:59.

cards said, the Moroccan coach saying no three points, let's have a

:02:00.:02:04.

little review. The three judges at the side decided it was ahead point

:02:05.:02:11.

kick. The Moroccan coach complaining that it wasn't. Is it the hand? That

:02:12.:02:19.

is not the area of contention. The face comes back and the chop kick

:02:20.:02:24.

comes down. Is there any contact of a face. --? It doesn't look like it

:02:25.:02:31.

from this angle. I think it was the reaction from Dislam. They are

:02:32.:02:42.

invalidating it, so he is saying, yes, the three points are

:02:43.:02:52.

invalidated. It is a mixture of hand jive. The three points are taken

:02:53.:03:03.

away. The initial 3-point head kick we saw, that is the current

:03:04.:03:09.

technology. Making sure it is fair. It is not always perfect, but the

:03:10.:03:14.

video replay working well. Trying to push forward, Walkden, trying to use

:03:15.:03:20.

the front leg as a jab. Dislam doing the same. Engrossing opening period,

:03:21.:03:31.

one minute gone. Dislam trying to pick off Walkden's head, going for

:03:32.:03:35.

the three points, they are the ones that are going to score big. Walkden

:03:36.:03:42.

trying to do the same. Dislam adept at covering. Bit of an impasse

:03:43.:03:49.

develops. A lot of energy used in these footwork. The feet are flying

:03:50.:03:58.

but the scoreboard stays the same. As the attempted power punch from

:03:59.:04:06.

Walkden comes, Dislam protecting her body to prevent anything coming

:04:07.:04:10.

through. Trying to get through with the head kick, Dislam, she is

:04:11.:04:16.

getting closer. Starting to put some pressure on as we reach the closing

:04:17.:04:19.

stages of this engrossing first round. Nothing doing on the

:04:20.:04:24.

scoreboard but plenty to think about. If it was a great appeal

:04:25.:04:29.

Birtwhistle from her coach, she clearly knew what was going on, just

:04:30.:04:38.

caught her nose on the padding. You can see just a little luck of the

:04:39.:04:42.

pensive face from Walkden under way in, but it was almost the kick in

:04:43.:04:46.

the face that made the difference and as you rightly say, the coach

:04:47.:04:51.

did the right job here. There was a clash of heads. The video replay

:04:52.:04:57.

system working perfectly here. Fairness observed, 0-0.

:04:58.:05:17.

Crucial times here at the Carioca arena. Bianca Walkden of Great

:05:18.:05:25.

Britain, we am days lamb, this for a heavyweight bronze medal here in the

:05:26.:05:33.

taekwondo. -- Wiam Dislam. Both fighters looking for the distance.

:05:34.:05:38.

Of course, they wear socks with sensors on them, any whack on the

:05:39.:05:46.

body or the head, points scored. But at the moment, it is a stalemate.

:05:47.:05:58.

Both fighters still pushing to try and take the lead. Dislam in red

:05:59.:06:08.

just changing her stance, making it more difficult to read. Changing the

:06:09.:06:13.

tempo, changing the distance and Dislam trying to dislodge walked in

:06:14.:06:20.

with that back leg turning kick. She has gained some ground, Walkden

:06:21.:06:24.

straying towards the edge. Nothing to choose here. Good punch by

:06:25.:06:31.

Walkden. Just stepping round. How will the referee see that? She has

:06:32.:06:37.

given the kyong go to Walkden, as suspected. A push, rather than a

:06:38.:06:43.

fall. Did she fall was she pushed? The answer is on the board, a little

:06:44.:06:47.

yellow card against Walkden who tries again with a punch to the

:06:48.:06:54.

body. Dislam not interested in taking a back step. The tempo of

:06:55.:07:02.

this fight is really high. Look at that. A cracking shot. Walkden, as

:07:03.:07:07.

shot to the head, take those three points, thank you very much. It was

:07:08.:07:14.

the tempo and it was the technique. Bianca Walkden takes another one, a

:07:15.:07:19.

little push kick to the body. She is stepping it up here. Dislam

:07:20.:07:25.

disorientated by the headshot. Handy little 4-point gap. Ten seconds

:07:26.:07:30.

left. It has been an embattled second round for the Moroccan. She

:07:31.:07:35.

is rocking back and forward, trying to do something. She is going to

:07:36.:07:40.

have to live to fight another day. Bianca Walkden looking aggressive

:07:41.:07:45.

now, her body language much better. Yes, she looks much more positive in

:07:46.:07:50.

body language. When she first walked out to the arena, she looked like

:07:51.:07:53.

she was still shocked from the previous loss, but now she is in

:07:54.:08:01.

command. Dislam from Morocco, she knows she can find the body, she has

:08:02.:08:06.

had a few shots at it, she just can't quite get it right. The

:08:07.:08:11.

business end here of the competition in Brazil, doing the business with

:08:12.:08:18.

that head shot there. , Bianca Walkden.

:08:19.:08:30.

Last minute bits of advice here. Bianca Walkden against Dislam, the

:08:31.:08:41.

British fighter four points to the good. Her first-ever Olympic Games

:08:42.:08:46.

and she is first out of the traps there, straight into the body armour

:08:47.:08:51.

of the Moroccan, Dislam. Good change of stance from Walkden, the fighter

:08:52.:08:57.

from Liverpool, in blue. Dislam from Rabat in Morocco. Can she rebirth

:08:58.:09:05.

the advances from Walkden? Attempted headshot. She has a little look at

:09:06.:09:11.

her coach. She is asking for the replay card, she believes she made

:09:12.:09:17.

contact with Walkden's face. Three points at stake, this is an

:09:18.:09:19.

important moment in the third round. Let's have a look, you decide

:09:20.:09:32.

yourself at home. What do you think? Anything on the face? I think so, I

:09:33.:09:37.

think she just caught Walkden's knows. That could be enough. We only

:09:38.:09:43.

get one angle. Three good men and true here, they have six different

:09:44.:09:48.

cameras to look at. They will take their time. Key moments here,

:09:49.:09:57.

massive tension. We am days lamb, Tichit make -- Wiam Dislam, does

:09:58.:10:05.

make any contact here? Decide for yourself at home. The judges will

:10:06.:10:12.

decide here. Different angles, different approaches. It could be a

:10:13.:10:16.

massively different outcome here. Well, it has been knocked back. Key

:10:17.:10:30.

times for Bianca Walkden. The centre referee gets them under way again.

:10:31.:10:35.

Wiam Dislam continues without the card, part -- can't play it again.

:10:36.:10:42.

But does she have an ace up her sleeve? It is queen bee in the

:10:43.:10:47.

middle, Bianca Walkden, four points to the good. Dislam has to go the

:10:48.:10:53.

something big. There is another one, that has taken Bianca Walkden up to

:10:54.:11:01.

7-0. She needs to keep going. Perfect timing from Walkden and she

:11:02.:11:07.

pushes out another shot to the body. A very popular fighter and you can

:11:08.:11:13.

hear the Brazilian crowd. One minute left in this one. You can read the

:11:14.:11:19.

score for yourself. Dislam knows the score that can she change it?

:11:20.:11:26.

Walkden now just walking in, poise and precision.

:11:27.:11:35.

Walkden is going to anticipate the blows to the head that will be

:11:36.:11:40.

attempted in these remaining seconds. Dislam has to go for it.

:11:41.:11:47.

Bianca Walkden needs to protect herself but needs to continue

:11:48.:11:54.

attacking. You can hear Paul Green in the background say, close it

:11:55.:11:58.

down, stay there, stay with the left. Big moments for the British

:11:59.:12:03.

fighter and a point for why am days lamb by way of the kyong go. -- we

:12:04.:12:16.

am days lamb by way of the kyong go. Two serious knee injuries. Didn't

:12:17.:12:19.

look like she would qualify for the Olympic Games. She has hung on and

:12:20.:12:25.

battled and Bianca Walkden has shown the tenacity. Will she get the

:12:26.:12:32.

reward. --? She most certainly will. Bianca Walkden, Olympic Games

:12:33.:12:38.

bronze-medallist. She battled for that, battled her aspirations for

:12:39.:12:47.

gold. She comes away with a very creditworthy bronze medal. A mixture

:12:48.:12:51.

of excitement and indeed some measure of disappointment. She came

:12:52.:12:55.

for gold, she goes away with an excellent bronze medal. Bianca

:12:56.:13:00.

Walkden, a true credit. An emotional embrace, a brilliant runs medal for

:13:01.:13:07.

Bianca Walkden. Paul Green again taking the plaudits from his

:13:08.:13:13.

fighters. Jade Jones took gold and gave Paul Green the credit and

:13:14.:13:16.

Bianca Walkden does the same. Huge credit to the Liverpool fighter,

:13:17.:13:24.

likewise credit to Wiam Dislam. It takes to divide and she gave plenty.

:13:25.:13:30.

A few millimetres short. Bianca Walkden, from Great Britain, she

:13:31.:13:41.

takes that heavyweight bronze medal. And she does it with some style. And

:13:42.:13:50.

what a fight their, as we see Paul Green celebrate. I truly hope Bianca

:13:51.:13:55.

Walkden will look back on this and see how much she has achieved. We

:13:56.:14:00.

know she wanted cold, she has done well to compose herself and come out

:14:01.:14:04.

here all guns blazing. Credit to her, a bronze medal. She had to work

:14:05.:14:12.

hard, Wiam Dislam dislodged and it is Walkden that takes the win. It is

:14:13.:14:16.

a brilliant moment for the fighter from Great Britain.

:14:17.:14:31.

DAN WALKER: It is good to see Bianca Walkden enjoying that bronze medal

:14:32.:14:38.

because we know, as we are hearing from the commentators and speaking

:14:39.:14:43.

to Nick beforehand, how much it hurt that she failed to get through to

:14:44.:14:46.

the bronze medal match and when it comes to taekwondo, it is a gold,

:14:47.:14:52.

silver and a bronze for Team GB. The gold for Jade Jones, the Silver for

:14:53.:14:57.

Lutalo Mohammad yesterday and bronze for Bianca Walkden. That is the 64th

:14:58.:15:01.

medal of the Games for Great Britain. This could be number 65,

:15:02.:15:05.

which would match the number from four years ago. Here is Mahama Cho.

:15:06.:15:56.

Big promises there from the British coach. Can he help Mahama Cho

:15:57.:16:11.

deliver, deliver he must, against Maicon Siqueira. He has an enormous

:16:12.:16:15.

advantage here. He understands what the tough side of the street is

:16:16.:16:22.

like, does Maicon Siqueira. He now takes the big steps up, enters the

:16:23.:16:26.

stadium, bronze medal at stake. Brazilian pride against British hope

:16:27.:16:33.

at the moment. Mahama Cho, he's in blue, and this man here, Maicon

:16:34.:16:40.

Siqueira, can he secure a bronze macro medal -- a bronze medal, or

:16:41.:16:45.

will Mahama Cho have too much? 32-macro minute rounds to decide the

:16:46.:16:53.

destination of this heavyweight bronze medal. Maicon Siqueira in

:16:54.:16:59.

red. Good defensive front leg counter from Mahama Cho. His first

:17:00.:17:03.

job of course, subdue the crowd and silence his opponent. Siqueira, the

:17:04.:17:08.

converse. He's got to try and step in, create some momentum. Into the

:17:09.:17:18.

first clinch. I was expecting to see both fighters coming out all guns

:17:19.:17:21.

blazing, but there are a little bit more reserved. Great attempt. Mahama

:17:22.:17:28.

Cho going forward, reversed turning kick, but the crowd here just

:17:29.:17:32.

incredible. They are, right now it doesn't matter who's fighting,

:17:33.:17:35.

they've been loud and hopefully Mahama Cho will also use that to his

:17:36.:17:43.

advantage. Back leg turning kick there from Maicon Siqueira, tries to

:17:44.:17:48.

sneak one under the guard of the work there from Mahama Cho.

:17:49.:17:54.

As the crowd get into this one. A push kick attempt there, again from

:17:55.:18:05.

Siqueira. Cho on the back foot, trying to pop out that front leg.

:18:06.:18:09.

Its defence first from Mahama Cho from Great Britain.

:18:10.:18:24.

The carnival atmosphere continuing here.

:18:25.:18:32.

What a wonderful arena to be fighting in? The atmosphere in

:18:33.:18:39.

Carioca three is just electric. Both fighters here really want this

:18:40.:18:43.

bronze medal and as we can see, now going for it. The footwork has been

:18:44.:18:51.

impeccable. That one was a bit low. They need to make contact with the

:18:52.:18:57.

pads to get the points. Not registering anything yet at the end

:18:58.:19:01.

of an engrossing first round. Mutual respect. No advantage just yet.

:19:02.:19:19.

The reversed turning kick is worth four points. Whistling over their

:19:20.:19:26.

shoulder their Siqueira. Not much to choose between the two,

:19:27.:19:40.

certainly not on the scoreboard. Both sides open... At the same

:19:41.:19:51.

time... They're not here to play, here to fight. The bronze medal

:19:52.:19:56.

contest, Mahama Cho against Maicon Siqueira, into the second round

:19:57.:19:57.

here. Mahama Cho born in the Ivory Coast,

:19:58.:20:08.

moved to London when he was eight years old. His dad was an end the

:20:09.:20:14.

tae kwon do champion of Africa. He tries with that kick to the body, as

:20:15.:20:21.

advised by the coach. He was a promising footballer. His goal here,

:20:22.:20:28.

the bronze medal. Can Siqueira surf on the atmosphere provided and push

:20:29.:20:34.

forward? Mahama Cho needs to stay on his feet. He has won Kyong-go

:20:35.:20:38.

against him already. Siqueira clearly putting him under some

:20:39.:20:43.

pressure. Faking, trying to entice him in. There's a top pick on the

:20:44.:20:52.

way through from the head shot, it works, I was just thinking there

:20:53.:20:56.

could be a Congo as well, yes, it will. Mahama Cho just plans it

:20:57.:21:00.

perfectly but landing on the map as well -- there could be a Kyong-go as

:21:01.:21:06.

well. It's 3-1, Mahama Cho in contention here. Siqueira takes one

:21:07.:21:14.

to the body there. You've just got to wonder how much the blow to

:21:15.:21:18.

confidence that will have been to Siqueira, taking that knock to the

:21:19.:21:25.

head. It does dazzle you. It's a good point you have made in terms of

:21:26.:21:29.

getting kicked in the face. Not a lot of fun. Thankfully it doesn't

:21:30.:21:33.

happen in the commentary box but down on the mat here both men going

:21:34.:21:41.

for it. That's three point shot. Separating the two. Good footwork

:21:42.:21:46.

against from Mahama Cho. Siqueira doesn't look to be the same kind of

:21:47.:21:50.

man he was a few seconds ago, before that three points to the head. Here

:21:51.:21:54.

he comes, unsuccessful though, nothing registering. Another

:21:55.:21:59.

Kyong-go, running away. Mahama Cho just on the back foot there. The

:22:00.:22:05.

Brazilian regaining his senses, gets his composure back and almost gets

:22:06.:22:10.

one under the body army of Mahama Cho. Each kick attempt from the

:22:11.:22:15.

Brazilian. Cho does well to get back in the ring. Great blocking, a big

:22:16.:22:19.

punch, they are reeling and rocking in Rio. Five seconds left in the

:22:20.:22:23.

second round. Mahama Cho goes for the head shot again. Excellent round

:22:24.:22:27.

from the British fighter. Absolutely, he's in the lead. Is it

:22:28.:22:32.

enough? I don't know, I think he's going to have to work hard still in

:22:33.:22:35.

this third round. Siqueira was momentarily dazed but

:22:36.:22:46.

came back at the end of the second round. The head shots are big power

:22:47.:22:51.

shots and do take a physical toll. It tells the tale on the scoreboard,

:22:52.:22:56.

this was the big head shot, Cho fell over so the Kyong-go as well. Maicon

:22:57.:23:01.

Siqueira is in a fight now. The key moments in the career of the

:23:02.:23:15.

23-year-old from Rio. Three years the senior of Mahama

:23:16.:23:30.

Cho, the man from Britain in Bloom. A nice show of mutual respect. I is

:23:31.:23:36.

down, the third and potentially final-round. There is sometimes an

:23:37.:23:44.

extra round where extra points are needed, extra points are certainly

:23:45.:23:47.

needed by Maicon Siqueira. Resolute defence from Mahama Cho. I gain, the

:23:48.:23:52.

hook kick attempt to the head from the Brazilian, an aggressive start

:23:53.:23:57.

from Maicon Siqueira. Reversed turning kick their attempted by

:23:58.:24:02.

Mahama Cho, avoids, and the back kick scores though. Will there be

:24:03.:24:07.

any extra points? The referee is going to look at that. The back kick

:24:08.:24:12.

landed, back kicks RA three point shot. Let's have a little

:24:13.:24:15.

confirmation here, there should be two points. Two points added for the

:24:16.:24:25.

back kick and that changes the complexity and complexion of this

:24:26.:24:29.

match. The more difficult the technique, the greater the points. I

:24:30.:24:38.

hope someone has nailed the roof down, because it is about to come

:24:39.:24:43.

off here. Mahama Cho, taking his time, gathering up. The confidence

:24:44.:24:48.

and the game plan, still plenty of time left for the British fighter.

:24:49.:24:53.

Tries with a back kick of his own, punches well, good, from Siqueira.

:24:54.:25:00.

Four points apiece. The score can change so quickly in such a dynamic

:25:01.:25:05.

sport. One kick can feel it, one kick can take the lead. It's less

:25:06.:25:15.

than minute to find that -- it's less than one minute to find that

:25:16.:25:21.

point, a Kyong-go hanging against the British fighter. He must stay on

:25:22.:25:25.

his feet. Both men summoning up their energy for the last chip and

:25:26.:25:28.

charged at this bronze medal, Mahama Cho in blue. Maicon Siqueira in red.

:25:29.:25:33.

Who will go home with the bronze crushed and Mark 30 seconds to

:25:34.:25:42.

decide it. -- who will go home with the bronze? Who wants it most? Who

:25:43.:25:49.

is prepared to risk it? Both looking a little fatigues. Could that

:25:50.:25:57.

tiredness be pivotal in the last ten seconds here? Maicon Siqueira,

:25:58.:26:03.

Mahama Cho, who will find the shot? He falls over at the same time as

:26:04.:26:06.

the Bush kick. What's the referee going to do? I think we're going to

:26:07.:26:15.

have a little intervention, let's see if it will be the coach. I think

:26:16.:26:25.

an extra point for a back kick, extra point for the back kick is

:26:26.:26:29.

what the Brazilian coach is asking for. Let's listen. Yes. So indeed

:26:30.:26:38.

you can listen to it there, it was in amongst the melee, a higher value

:26:39.:26:48.

shot is the spin, either a back kick or a spin kick, that's worth three

:26:49.:26:53.

points, so this is crucial now. Olympic bronze medal hanging on the

:26:54.:26:57.

technology. It's good to see that they can get the right result.

:26:58.:27:05.

Massive tension. It is unsuccessful, it wasn't a back kick. That was what

:27:06.:27:14.

the request was for. Is there enough time? In the end, Maicon Siqueira

:27:15.:27:25.

secures a bronze medal for Brazil. CHEERING

:27:26.:27:29.

Mahama Cho gave it all he could, but Maicon Siqueira used to work as a

:27:30.:27:37.

builder and a waiter, he doesn't have too wait for much longer now.

:27:38.:27:44.

He will be on the podium and the front pages and back pages of the

:27:45.:27:52.

newspapers of Brazil. Mahama Cho dejected. He gave it his all. Let's

:27:53.:27:54.

listen to the crowd. CHEERING

:27:55.:28:05.

The big man from Brazil, Maicon Siqueira, secures a bronze medal. I

:28:06.:28:12.

don't know if he has a ticket for the Arena as well, but he's back

:28:13.:28:19.

with that bronze medal. Mahama Cho, it takes two to fight and my

:28:20.:28:23.

goodness, he put it in there. Tremendous scenes here. To come away

:28:24.:28:28.

with a medal in front of your home crowd, what more could you ask for?

:28:29.:28:33.

You can see how much it means to him and his fans. A truly tremendous

:28:34.:28:37.

result for Brazil. Absolutely devastating for Great Britain. But

:28:38.:28:43.

that score. Indeed, the winner is sport. -- but that is sport. High

:28:44.:28:51.

emotion, trends and family unite around Maicon Siqueira. From humble

:28:52.:28:57.

beginnings, he rises to great heights here. Just about escapes

:28:58.:29:04.

from the crowd there. Here he is, this is his moment.

:29:05.:29:08.

The Olympic Games, never an easy thing to host, but it is the hosts

:29:09.:29:40.

that have some success here. Desolation for Mahama Cho of Great

:29:41.:29:46.

Britain. Absolute delight, Maicon Siqueira. A star is born.

:29:47.:30:16.

DAN WALKER: It was an excellent fight from Mahama Cho but I suppose

:30:17.:30:23.

it reminds us a little bit of the scenes in London four years ago, in

:30:24.:30:28.

particular Gemma Gibbons winning her medal and when she managed to get

:30:29.:30:33.

into the gold medal match in the judo, she fell to her knees and

:30:34.:30:38.

pointed to the skies, it was an emotional scene and we have just

:30:39.:30:42.

seen the Brazilian there running around and celebrating with his

:30:43.:30:47.

family. And to win it in his home city one and -- meant an awful lot.

:30:48.:30:53.

We will try and grab a word with Mahama Cho but just before that, we

:30:54.:30:58.

saw Bianca Walkden win the 64th medal for Team GB and after that

:30:59.:31:04.

bronze, she spoke to Nick Hope. Massive congratulations, you are an

:31:05.:31:09.

Olympic medallist. I am happy but I'm gutted I didn't get gold. I am

:31:10.:31:14.

happy I am coming back with my first Olympic medal so hopefully I can go

:31:15.:31:19.

to Tokyo to win gold. Already looking ahead, but looking back, it

:31:20.:31:23.

must have been hard to turn things around after the semifinals but you

:31:24.:31:28.

handle the crowd and the fight. After what I have been through, I

:31:29.:31:31.

shouldn't even be here, to be honest, so for me to qualify, was

:31:32.:31:37.

massive, and I did lose to one of the best people so I can reflect on

:31:38.:31:41.

it and go to the Tokyo and the worlds and win more medals. Paul,

:31:42.:31:46.

you have been there for the whole journey, tell me what it has been

:31:47.:31:49.

like for Bianca to battle back from the injuries she has had such a mark

:31:50.:31:55.

this girl deserves so much credit. She has come back from a double

:31:56.:31:58.

anterior cruciate ligament, she works harder from anyone I ever have

:31:59.:32:05.

seen. She had the hardest draw in this category. There is only China

:32:06.:32:11.

that comes close to an unfortunately, she had to face in

:32:12.:32:15.

the semifinal. She deserves a gold medal but she came back strong for

:32:16.:32:18.

the bronze medal. She's a fighter and she always has and always will

:32:19.:32:23.

be. And it is an historic medal for GB, a third one here. And hopefully,

:32:24.:32:29.

I can go and get another medal but I do want to say thanks to this guy,

:32:30.:32:34.

who has got us this far and if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be here.

:32:35.:32:39.

It is all credit to Paul. DAN WALKER: Well done, Bianca and

:32:40.:32:44.

just after his fight, Nick Hope has managed to grab Mahama Cho as well.

:32:45.:32:52.

So soon after, it is very difficult for you, I am sure, but you were up

:32:53.:32:56.

against not only a strong fighter but also the whole crowd as well.

:32:57.:33:05.

I'm sorry, it's devastating. I worked so hard for this and just to

:33:06.:33:11.

be taken away from you in the dying seconds, it really hurts. I want to

:33:12.:33:22.

congratulate him, he put on a good fight and he is a strong contender

:33:23.:33:31.

and I'm really, really... I have to congratulate him for the job that he

:33:32.:33:36.

has done, to come out of the repechage and come on top is not

:33:37.:33:41.

something that is easy to do, so well done to him but at the same

:33:42.:33:45.

time I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to my

:33:46.:33:50.

parents, the people back in the UK, the team and staff, Team GB, UK

:33:51.:33:54.

sport for all of their help and the lottery funding people for

:33:55.:34:00.

everything they have put into me to get to this stage and I'm sorry that

:34:01.:34:07.

I couldn't bring home the medal. But that is what it is, that's what it

:34:08.:34:13.

is. You have achieved so much to get here, I remember when we spoke

:34:14.:34:16.

earlier in the year, it was touch and go whether you would make it to

:34:17.:34:20.

the Olympics but you performed here and performed well and have been

:34:21.:34:24.

part of this history making team. I'm sure you will want to fight on.

:34:25.:34:31.

I'm a fighter, I don't quit. I will take a step back and have a little

:34:32.:34:37.

break and try and see what the next cycle is going to take. We shall

:34:38.:34:42.

see, we shall see. The very best of luck.

:34:43.:34:47.

DAN WALKER: What a thoroughly decent man. It is so hard to watch those

:34:48.:34:52.

interviews but I suppose it is you are really good indication of what

:34:53.:34:56.

it means not only to be an Olympic champion but to win a silver medal

:34:57.:35:00.

or a bronze medal and how much it hurts to miss out in a match like

:35:01.:35:04.

that, when he really felt he had a chance. Came here full of

:35:05.:35:07.

confidence, thinking he could go all the way, but some real dignity and

:35:08.:35:12.

in the same way we saw Lutalo Mohammad yesterday speaking to Nick

:35:13.:35:19.

and the real pure emotion that came to add to his defeat, when he went

:35:20.:35:22.

out with a silver medal, but just one second away from a gold. It is

:35:23.:35:26.

good to hear those two young decent men speaking openly and honestly

:35:27.:35:30.

about not doing quite what they wanted to do but hopefully, as they

:35:31.:35:33.

were both saying, they can regroup and maybe go stronger and further

:35:34.:35:38.

and go again in the years to come. And if you have been inspired by

:35:39.:35:41.

their interviews, performances or anything else you have seen during

:35:42.:35:46.

the Games, we have said this a lot, but it is an important Olympic

:35:47.:35:50.

message. We were speaking to three of Team GB's hockey stars and they

:35:51.:35:55.

said just try something, it doesn't have to be hockey, taekwondo, just

:35:56.:35:59.

go to the get inspired section of the website and who knows, maybe you

:36:00.:36:02.

could be celebrating like the Brazilians behind us. They are

:36:03.:36:07.

inspired by their football team tonight. And it might be football,

:36:08.:36:11.

the game we love so much back in the UK, but it could be anything. But if

:36:12.:36:16.

you would like to get into something you have seen in these Games and

:36:17.:36:20.

hopefully you can find something you yourself can get into, someone in

:36:21.:36:23.

your family or kids who may well have gone back to bed in the UK. It

:36:24.:36:28.

is a great website, a one-stop shop of something you have seen here

:36:29.:36:32.

makes you think, I can try that or someone you know could be good at

:36:33.:36:37.

it. The Brazilians having a little chat, live interview for one of the

:36:38.:36:41.

big stations here in Brazil, gathered out in the street and they

:36:42.:36:45.

are enjoying a gold medal success in the football. Over on BBC One, as we

:36:46.:36:51.

said, after the taekwondo, Mo Farah is about to go in the 5,000m, seeing

:36:52.:36:58.

if he can add that gold to the 10,000m he won. That is just under

:36:59.:37:02.

way, so we fully understand if you are going to leave is on BBC Four

:37:03.:37:07.

but do come back to us before we leave at two a.m., because we have

:37:08.:37:11.

some extra bits and pieces and we will run the best bits again and

:37:12.:37:15.

read out your messages. We have been staggered head, normally social

:37:16.:37:18.

media can be quite brutal but you have been so nice and I will give a

:37:19.:37:24.

mention to every one of the BBC 14. White and the idiot who sits in

:37:25.:37:27.

front of the camera but it wouldn't be possible without the lovely

:37:28.:37:33.

people behind the scenes -- BBC Four star. Now, the men's handball, we

:37:34.:37:39.

had to leave that at 2am in the morning. It was level, ten minutes

:37:40.:37:45.

to go and the winner would go into the gold medal match. This is

:37:46.:37:48.

Denmark against Poland from yesterday and this is the extra time

:37:49.:37:52.

period that we promised we would show you. Here is a bit of handball

:37:53.:37:57.

for you with Paul Bray and Jack Nichols on BBC Four.

:37:58.:38:03.

Into the first period of extra time. Five-minute hearts and if they can't

:38:04.:38:10.

be separated, another pair of five-minute hearts and then

:38:11.:38:16.

penalties. 25-25. And it is Denmark in possession. There is a two-minute

:38:17.:38:28.

suspension that is supposed to be served by Toft and unless the

:38:29.:38:32.

goalkeeper was Alf, I thought briefly for a second they had missed

:38:33.:38:40.

out, but he raced in. Now they are short-handed in defence. But they

:38:41.:38:49.

are a goal to the good and they are the team on the front foot in terms

:38:50.:38:53.

of goal-scoring now. If Poland score, they will go level and

:38:54.:38:58.

Denmark will have the chance to retake the lead.

:38:59.:39:06.

He comes in, could save. A good reaction to his right, went down

:39:07.:39:17.

quickly. A bit of space but the defenders once more sitting back too

:39:18.:39:22.

much. It was well planted and he will go straight off the game.

:39:23.:39:29.

Committed to that says pretty much before the ball had left his hand. A

:39:30.:39:35.

change over for the ball and the match under way, with Denmark coming

:39:36.:39:40.

forward, although they are down to six players, they have taken out the

:39:41.:39:44.

goalkeeper and going to try and look to take the 2-goal advantage. The

:39:45.:39:52.

defence, 501, which tended to leave Hanson, very wide. Wasilev skee is

:39:53.:40:01.

staying glued to him. Yes! Two goal lead, Toft scores. They are racing

:40:02.:40:09.

back in defence. Hanson is looking to give away a free throw and by

:40:10.:40:16.

time. They will look to field the attack as they make the

:40:17.:40:29.

substitutions. Out to Wisniewski. A little run and a drive. Still Poland

:40:30.:40:36.

not able to make any progress. The two-minute suspension is over, so

:40:37.:40:43.

Denmark back up to full strength. Wisniewski again being wrestled.

:40:44.:40:51.

Has to watch himself, he is on two two minute suspensions, Toft. Still

:40:52.:40:58.

holds on from behind. Interesting to note that the light players between

:40:59.:41:02.

them have only scored once, that last goal, by Toft. The first one

:41:03.:41:12.

scored by either one of them. But we have had Sven come in on the line

:41:13.:41:18.

and find a way through. A huge corridor and Landin makes a stunning

:41:19.:41:21.

stay there again. He really has picked his moment. He can't quite

:41:22.:41:27.

believe it, he could have taken a bus through there and Landin reacts

:41:28.:41:37.

so fast. Got his hand to it. Denmark's 2-goal advantage remains

:41:38.:41:42.

intact. Two minutes to go, Landin with a discussion with the referee.

:41:43.:41:46.

The Danes are in a better mood than when they conceded the last-minute

:41:47.:41:58.

equaliser in this this semifinal. Switching to Olsson, goes to Hansen.

:41:59.:42:03.

Olson goes straight through. The moment he stepped away, Olsson saw

:42:04.:42:08.

his chance. It is a funny tactic that he used in the first half. He

:42:09.:42:16.

is a big defender but he can do nothing against the pace of Olsen.

:42:17.:42:30.

Just a minute ago in this of extra time. Out to the wing and finished

:42:31.:42:41.

off, the back of the net found once again. Back down to two with a

:42:42.:42:53.

minute left. A nice goal by Daszek. Urges the crowd on. He has stood

:42:54.:42:57.

out, played so well throughout the tournament. That is five from five

:42:58.:43:00.

for the winger, very economical. That is very high, is that a

:43:01.:43:12.

two-minute suspension, I wonder? Seemed to catch him very high. No,

:43:13.:43:17.

he has got away with it, he is probably quite glad. It looks like

:43:18.:43:23.

Olsen was quite low himself. That is the difficulty of having a man of

:43:24.:43:30.

two metres facing a shorter player going in low as well. Lower centre

:43:31.:43:35.

of gravity and you have to reach down, which restricts your natural

:43:36.:43:40.

ability and he ends up wrestling him rather awkwardly. He is still on and

:43:41.:43:44.

they are pushing deep with 30 seconds to go in this period of

:43:45.:43:49.

extra time. Hand-sewn! It is all going in for Denmark now. -- Hansen.

:43:50.:43:59.

One minute for the Danes to try and get one goal back -- for the Polish.

:44:00.:44:07.

Who is going to take the shot? 4-1 in this period and that will run the

:44:08.:44:11.

clock down, that is what they wanted. They want the floor mopped.

:44:12.:44:16.

The hooter goes and it will have to be a direct throw. And it looks as

:44:17.:44:27.

if it is going to be taken by Syprzak, the tallest player on the

:44:28.:44:32.

Polish bench. Into the defensive wall and that brings to an end the

:44:33.:44:37.

first five minutes of extra time. Five minutes still to go and Poland

:44:38.:44:41.

have a lot to do if they want to recover the situation. A look at it

:44:42.:44:48.

again from Syprzak, just fires it straightaway and not close, really,

:44:49.:44:51.

to going over the top of the hands of the Danish wall. A little apology

:44:52.:45:00.

from Syprzak to Toft to say, are you all right and he says, yes, fine.

:45:01.:45:05.

Halfway through the first five-minute period of extra time and

:45:06.:45:11.

Denmark have extended the 3-goal lead, 29-26. It will be a quick

:45:12.:45:15.

turnaround before the start of the second five-minute period but that

:45:16.:45:19.

is more like it from Denmark. Four shots on goal goal, four goals. It

:45:20.:45:27.

is a unique situation, this happen so often, the team switches off in

:45:28.:45:31.

extra time, you are so relieved don't think we have saved the match

:45:32.:45:36.

and you just lose that focus, maybe there is too much adrenaline and it

:45:37.:45:40.

is more energy and not enough focus, but they have lost their way

:45:41.:45:44.

somewhat defensively, there is not enough movement and the Danes are

:45:45.:45:49.

rattling away and they have found a little bit of movement, but it is a

:45:50.:45:53.

big gap to make up in just five minutes, because that will fly.

:45:54.:45:59.

Denmark were down to just six players for the first part of that

:46:00.:46:07.

time. They were, you can make it up in defence. Five minutes in this

:46:08.:46:13.

extra time period to go. If they are still tied, we'll have some more

:46:14.:46:17.

extra time but as it stands, Denmark looking strong, three goals clear,

:46:18.:46:21.

and Poland have do is pull something out of the bag now. They managed it

:46:22.:46:26.

in the 59th minute and 58th second of normal time, trying to get it

:46:27.:46:31.

high, and really trying to draw the foul more than anything else by the

:46:32.:46:38.

look of it. . He couldn't quite see a safe house anywhere when he looked

:46:39.:46:42.

around. Luckily for him adjudged to have been found -- foul. If he'd

:46:43.:46:48.

been left alone he'd have had a turnover. He can't leave him alone,

:46:49.:46:58.

he has to push. That's the strike and it's in from Lijewski. Nothing

:46:59.:47:06.

that they could do about that one and the gap is down to two now. It

:47:07.:47:12.

rattled into the roof of the net but for Poland, they have to rely on the

:47:13.:47:21.

Danes missing their chances. The deep defence, Lijewski pushes right

:47:22.:47:25.

up in front of Olsen. Lijewski has moved out a bit, he's up on the

:47:26.:47:28.

nine-metre line to stay close to Hansen. They need some good

:47:29.:47:36.

communication so that Sven isn't left loose. Olsen teases a bit,

:47:37.:47:42.

Hansen, nearly a steel. Switches back again. The wing nut in an ideal

:47:43.:47:49.

position. Good save. -- the wing is not in an ideal position. Exactly

:47:50.:47:54.

what Poland needed and now, here they come again. They take their

:47:55.:48:04.

time, Poland, Syprzak comes in. Waiting on the far side in front of

:48:05.:48:16.

Milevski. -- Bielecki. It's Christiansen who has come out in

:48:17.:48:21.

front of him. Parried away, that wasn't a great shot in fairness. A

:48:22.:48:29.

comfortable height and he was frustrated. Not much power by the

:48:30.:48:34.

looks of it, a combination of landing and suppose, keeping that

:48:35.:48:40.

ball out and now it's Denmark who will come forward, two goals to the

:48:41.:48:43.

good with less than three minutes to go. 40% save rate for the keepers

:48:44.:48:52.

between them, although Lijewski has stood out quite a bit. Hansen

:48:53.:49:02.

brought down, it says free throwing. The clock ticks away relentlessly.

:49:03.:49:08.

The Danes have two on the line. Releases into the wing, just manages

:49:09.:49:15.

to keep it, pasista play being called out. It's stolen this time.

:49:16.:49:21.

-- passive play. He made sure he wasn't touching the ball as he went

:49:22.:49:26.

down and made contact with the ground. Two minutes to go, a two

:49:27.:49:30.

goal deficit on the attack for Poland now. A bit of firepower, a

:49:31.:49:45.

gift. Landing gets it. Let the ball go backwards, long attack. He has

:49:46.:49:55.

come into his own in this extra period of time, a string of good

:49:56.:49:59.

saves although in fairness a couple of very poor shots by the Poles.

:50:00.:50:10.

Another precious shot. There was a quick discussion with the captain.

:50:11.:50:14.

There's the shot, couldn't get the power on it. He was a long way out.

:50:15.:50:19.

Desperation really from Poland when it comes to shooting, not trying to

:50:20.:50:24.

just take their time and build-up, just thinking they'd better shoot. A

:50:25.:50:33.

good safe pair of hands, Sondergaard, brought back on. A

:50:34.:50:38.

veteran. Sucks in two defenders, passes in on the line. Mortensen had

:50:39.:50:43.

come in from the wing and makes a hash of it himself. Keeps Poland's

:50:44.:50:48.

slim chances alive here. One minute 42-macro goals, they'll have to

:50:49.:50:52.

score, and if they do manage to score they will have to do

:50:53.:50:57.

man-to-man defending. He can't pass it around too much, Bielecki. The

:50:58.:51:03.

wingers pushing into the middle, they have to be wider. Get out on

:51:04.:51:11.

the far side. What -- the clock still ticking, Lijewski, it's almost

:51:12.:51:17.

as if they have lost their nerve. Lijewski has scored and maybe, just

:51:18.:51:22.

maybe, they could do it. Man-to-man defending, they have to push up now.

:51:23.:51:32.

Here it is again. He beats Jacobsen. Denmark will just move the ball

:51:33.:51:36.

around, I can't understand that. They've got to push up. Is it

:51:37.:51:45.

stolen? No, it's still with Denmark, Poland not particular in defence,

:51:46.:51:54.

the celebrations have started. Denmark are through to the final of

:51:55.:52:00.

the Rio Olympic Games. The crowd is happy, he's happy to see his team

:52:01.:52:06.

make it through to the final. After extra time in the semifinal, Poland

:52:07.:52:09.

28, Denmark 29. STUDIO:

:52:10.:52:18.

What a finish, Denmark will take on France in the final at 6pm tomorrow.

:52:19.:52:24.

That will take place tomorrow but we shall not be here tomorrow, and the

:52:25.:52:28.

good news to bring you from our cousins on BBC One is that Mo Farah

:52:29.:52:32.

has just won his gold, that's a double 44 Mo Farah. That is Team

:52:33.:52:38.

GB's 65th medal of these Olympic Games, which matches the total from

:52:39.:52:44.

London of four years ago. So few countries are ever able to match

:52:45.:52:47.

after they've hosted. If you look at the stats, Greece one something like

:52:48.:52:55.

75% less than after they hosted in Athens in 2004. Still guaranteed

:52:56.:52:59.

medal for Joe Joyce to come and perhaps one or two more, so an

:53:00.:53:03.

incredible performance from Team GB, matching the medals they won in

:53:04.:53:07.

London four years ago. We are going to leave you on BBC Four on our

:53:08.:53:11.

final night. We've really enjoyed the last 15 days. Many of you have

:53:12.:53:15.

as well, thank you for your messages. A big thank you to the

:53:16.:53:19.

crew down here and also those backing the office, about an hour

:53:20.:53:23.

away from us in Brazil. We want to thank the stars of the programme and

:53:24.:53:27.

all the people we have welcomed onto little table and on the beach,

:53:28.:53:33.

Antony Worrall Thompson look about -- lookalikes, Raphael Maria, who

:53:34.:53:41.

set us up on Saturday night, they Copaca binmen, they are wearing

:53:42.:53:45.

their medals, it's been lovely to get to know residents of Rio. Even a

:53:46.:53:50.

bit of reading on the beach behind us as well, we've had so many

:53:51.:53:54.

magical moments. We have loved every single minute. Time now for the day

:53:55.:54:06.

four headlines on BBC Four. This is nice, there will be no actual in

:54:07.:54:09.

violence involved here, is gentle and fun. Good evening, hello there.

:54:10.:54:16.

Live fishing, what more could you possibly want. Greg Rutherford was

:54:17.:54:20.

doing his business on the far side of the track. Stop laughing, you

:54:21.:54:29.

lot! Massive bin news, massive bin man news, Raphael, Alejandro and

:54:30.:54:35.

Pedro, what a job. We will not zoom in but rest assured, it's not that.

:54:36.:54:39.

Apparently, they are reading a book, they are reading a book in a strange

:54:40.:54:43.

pose. Magnificent scene, maybe that's how you do it in Brazil. A

:54:44.:54:48.

Brazilian hen party. My name is Maria. Where the BBC. BBC? BBC, yes.

:54:49.:55:04.

BBC. Guess who has turned up, it is Maria's mum. See you later, say hi

:55:05.:55:08.

to the family. You're getting married. Antony Worrall Thompson,

:55:09.:55:13.

headphones on, ready to go. Where are you going on your holidays? Here

:55:14.:55:19.

we are talking more about six life, actually. What an absolute wipe-out

:55:20.:55:26.

that was. Is this capoeira? You're bobbing we call it aviation fuel

:55:27.:55:33.

because it's very strong. Look at that, magnificent movement from

:55:34.:55:34.

Antony Worrall Thompson. MUSIC

:55:35.:55:51.

I hope they're not dragging that young fellow into the sea. Never

:55:52.:55:55.

work with children and animals. Are you going to do it? Yes! They've got

:55:56.:56:02.

full beans but but they don't have the regular friendliness of our

:56:03.:56:08.

Copaca binmen -- they have Ball-macro two. BBC, BBC. I think we

:56:09.:56:19.

got away with that. We've had great fun. I wanted to

:56:20.:56:24.

mention those who have helped to put this together on BBC Four, Matt,

:56:25.:56:32.

Chris, Tim, Cameron, Caroline, Julie, Caroline, back in the office,

:56:33.:56:36.

doing a wonderful job, and we can cut up of the camera and introduce

:56:37.:56:40.

this bunch of woodlands to you as well, Marco, sitting down, Kath, who

:56:41.:56:46.

has been a camerawoman running around the beach for others, in the

:56:47.:56:51.

background we have robbed, Gary, Alison and Dan and Carlos, hiding at

:56:52.:56:57.

the back. The man not to mess with, ritzy. Do not mess with Mauricio

:56:58.:57:02.

Lemos Mac but that is it from us on BBC Four, thank you for watching.

:57:03.:57:06.

Our plan when we came here was to try to show you some top sport. I

:57:07.:57:10.

think we've done that but also to bring you a bit of fun, meet locals

:57:11.:57:15.

and to try to give you a flavour of what Rio is really like, because

:57:16.:57:18.

we've loved our time here in this beautiful city, hosting its

:57:19.:57:21.

first-ever Olympic Games. It's great we can say goodbye for us on BBC

:57:22.:57:26.

Four on a night when Rio and Brazil have been able to

:57:27.:57:39.

celebrate the one gold medal that mattered so much to them. Goodbye

:57:40.:57:43.

Brazil, we will see you in Tokyo in four years' time. Do they have a

:57:44.:57:45.

beach in Tokyo? They do! Excellent! We shall see you there, goodbye.

:57:46.:59:02.

The rugby league giants from Hull FC and Warrington

:59:03.:59:05.

go head-to-head at Wembley in the Challenge Cup final.
