Day 15 BBC Four: 19.00-22.00 Olympics

semifinals to come out and pick it up again. She has been such a key

figure for Serbia in the Olympic Games. She plays so actively. She

35-33. Brilliant shot from Epoupa. She is really penetrating the

Serbian defence. The Serbian intensity cannot handle how Epoupa

drives. Page now finding her offensive game as well. Epoupa is

the leading rebounder. She knows how to position herself. Petrovic

controlled it nicely. Serbia go back on top. Great work by Petrovic. Both

teams are still defending well. In this quarter the offences are

firing. There was a link to the basket, but it was not

-- not taken. We're half way through the third quarter.

She draws the foul. Fans up by one. Half way through the third quarter.

I felt that she had plenty of room near. The Serbian defence has been

opened up. It was so intense, aggressive, and they are really

pushing France hard. But they have found the way to the basket.

The French line-up is moving quickly up and down the court.

Halfway through the third quarter. France have their biggest lead of

the game. Page went down. This will be a high-scoring quarter

because both teams are over half of what they achieved in the previous

two. Epoupa had a clean look at the

basket, and the rebound came out. Petrovic putting more pressure on

the French. She got the foul. France were on top, but in the last couple

of minutes, Serbia have pushed hard. The outscoring France now.

When they play set piece, they are forcing turnovers.

The file will be on Epoupa for holding back Petrovic. Petrovic was

gone. It would have been two points. They should have played on. This is

exactly the reason the rule was brought in, I believe, for

unsportsmanlike conduct. That was a certain two points that

Epoupa stopped intentionally. Serbia will keep possession. She

wants a time-out. She had just substituted Johannes in. They have

fallen behind now. They had their best run of play in the game for

about three minutes of that quarter. surprised that Yacoubou is not in.

Serbia respect her too much -- have to respect. Serbia, the momentum had

completely shifted towards them, so it was the right moment for a

time-out. This was another key point for Serbia. Then Petrovic also

provided an unstoppable insight. You're right about Yacoubou, she has

to come out here for the last few minutes because we do not want

Serbia to get too much of a lead. The signal came from across the

court. The referee on that site did not signal. She had her foot on the

line anyway. From our point it is hard to see where the fit is. To

have this at this point in the game is looking good for the Serbian

team. France have come from behind already. They were down ten in the

first quarter. They came and took the lead.

The rebound went to Petrovic. Yacoubou is already making a

difference. Forcing the defence further back. Petrovic! This is just

like the start of the game. Good defence but good shooting by Serbia.

The quality of shooting is extraordinary. As soon as they make

one, it seems like everyone in the team starts making them, and it

builds confidence. It just missed the basket, and there

goes my theory about the different size of baskets.

Another turnover. Under two minutes to play in this quarter.

Yacoubou knocked it away and put her hands behind her back. As if she

felt guilty about it. Serbia and looking good. They turned it on at

an important moment in the game. It looked like France were getting on

top. The shooting from Serbia has been fantastic. What a performer.

Page always delivers. Defensively excellent.

It is catch and shoot, basically. There it is.

1.5 minutes to go. A good chance to give Page arrest. -- eight breast.

-- rest. Almost three within that period, the Serbian defences

overplaying the ball and getting away with it constantly because they

are overplaying the second pass as well. This time they have done it

with Yacoubou out there. The pressure when they receive the ball

was extraordinary. That is what is giving them so many possessions.

Epoupa is having arrest. Under one minute to play.

She was so quick to pass the ball. She had so much time. They could

have worked it. France just cannot see it coming, they cannot seem to

adjust. Another foul. The Serbians have not

given away too many fouls in this quarter, despite the pressure. The

French started making foul shots as the Serbians stopped. At very good

point. I do not know of that is intentional!

Page had about a minute breast. I thought she would sit out, but she

does not. She says, that is all I need!

Interesting that during the time-outs Milovanovic translates for

Page. That is a big basket for France, they have been able to do

nothing offensively in the last two minutes of the quarter. That was bad

defence. And Johannes! Off the boards. The

score at the end of three quarters, 55-42, Serbia with a commanding

So, the third quarter went Serbia's way, as did the fourth. They went on

to win that one by 70 points to 63 and Serbia get themselves onto the

medal podium. They will be joined by USA and Spain, who play the

gold-medal match a little bit later on. That is the end of the

basketball. Things have got a little bit drizzly here at the Olympic

Park, which is drizzly but we won't be disappointed on my last day. I'm

just going to take in these views of the limbic Park one more time. The

Germany. The host nation have never won gold in this event. The American

women have won five golds in a row in the basketball. Cancer

-- can Spain spring a surprise? Finals night in the men's water polo

too, Croatia and Serbia will both be going for gold. And it is final day

of the women's volleyball. Repair for some spiky action as the medals

are sorted out. Let's have a look at the timetable for this evening, as

we stare across the Copacabana once more. Basketball 7:30pm, USA against

Spain. On BBC One, the final of the men's ten-metre platform diving.

Sadly Tom Daley not involved in that. Tae kwon do, the 80 kilograms

quarterfinal is at 8:15pm. And Bianca Walkden, Jade Jones's

flatmate, at 8:30pm. The first half of the men's gold-medal match

between Brazil and Germany at 9:30pm. Last night Rio went wild

again as Usain Bolt became the triple, triple Olympic champion,

winning the four by one relay to add to the 200 and 100 relay here in

Rio. They absolutely love him here. Tonight we have a man who could do

the double double. You all know his name. It's Mo Farah.

The 5000 and 10,000 metre longest journeys of the track. Lap after

lap, again and again. Names that sit in the memory, Bekele, Haile Gebre

Selassie, it appeared so simple to all of them but that these is a lie.

With that fluent keys in the race itself comes pain. Even those greats

had limits. Only one other man has before done the double double. Come

through that pain to success on the other side. And then four years

later, he did it again. COMMENTATOR: Viren defends the title

again! They are not going to beat him! The flying Finn of the 1970s of

me and Dec space Munich and Montreal. And now, now there is

more. Trying to match the feet of Viren and earning comparisons with

the best of the past. But how to compare two men 40 years apart? Was

Viren's feat grades are having to pass through sapping heat before he

could race for gold over two distances. And Mo Farah already has

a double double, of world titles, but that is a prize created after

Viren's time. So don't compare, simply admire. With the very best,

we perhaps lose our perspective. Too much success and it is diminished.

More somehow makes it less. But remember the line, this is never

easy. Only near the end, when the prize is near, do we see that mask

slip, and the pain and effort that lies beneath. The effort that brings

Mo Farah close to Viren in the past and Olympic gold again and again,

one more time. 1:30am your time back in the UK over

on BBC One. You can see if Mo Farah can add to the goal he already has

in these games, and can hit repeat the amazing feat of a double

gold-medal four years ago in London? The great hopes from a Team GB

perspective for Tom Daley as well. Already a bronze-medallist in these

Olympic Games and he was trying to do something from the ten-metre

platform individually. Yesterday there were the preliminaries and it

looked so hopeful. We saw him on BBC Four. His best performance in a long

time and today it was that any final. This will be described for us

by Leon Taylor and Bob Ballard. COMMENTATOR: The men's semifinal of

the ten-metre platform. The first dive for Tom Daley, the man who led

for four out of six rounds in the preliminaries. Not as good as

yesterday but it is good enough. I would like to see him not quite as

good in this semifinal. I want to see him good, diving well, but just

backing off the gas. Round two, let's see what he can do with this

3.6 dive. Oh! It's not unusual to see an error on this, this is his

newest dive, not the rotational speed he's used to, drops a bit like

a stone. On to round three and if this goes well, he will rocket up

the standings. Tom needs to get moving. No. Not yet. He is way off

the standings at the moment. Round four. He is 18th, Tom Daley. 18th of

18. He scored 103 in the prelims. This is not as good but it is an

improvement and that is what we want to see. 18 points he has to make up

to get back into the top 12. It is achievable but it is going to take

some doing. OK, the reparation job has do start here and has to start

with this. Yesterday he got tens on this dive. Tom Daley, to get himself

out of the mire. That's going to help. That's going to help a lot.

But we are still way in the danger zone. So, here we go with round six.

Final round of the semifinal. Tom Daley, it's down to you. Do you have

what it takes to get 101 points, to get level 12th. The biggest dive of

your life. Right now. No. That's it. Unbelievable. He did not predict

this. Tom Daley winning by a country mile yesterday. Today at the

semifinals, not making it through. What an awful date out there for

Tom. Of course, and Olympic bronze-medallist in the sink with

Dan Goodfellow, no one can take that away from him, but he will be

devastated. Tom Daley finishes in 18th place, what a reversal of

fortunes, yesterday the best and today the worst.

Commiserations, Tom. We can see what it means to you. Great day

yesterday, wasn't quite kicking today, what happened? I've worked so

hard these past four years to get to this point today. Yesterday I got an

Olympic record. The highest score in an Olympic Games. Today it just

wasn't meant to be and that is just what diving does sometimes. I truly

am heartbroken because I really feel like I am in the peak physical

condition and I could really go out there and I could have won tonight.

It's really, really hard to accept what happened today. Your team-mates

would argue that this is the most stressful sport, the most high

pressure. Add to that your profile and the expectation. What is going

through your head when you get up on the board? When I get up on the

board I'm completely present in the moment and enjoying each moment as I

get to do it. But today, things just want clicking. I was giving it my

all and I was ready up for it. Training was re-good. In the

competition it just fell apart. Those other guys do they did

absolutely amazing. I'm so happy with the way that Team GB have done

in these Olympic Games. It makes me so proud to be part of Team GB and

how everyone else has done amazingly well. I just wanted to replicate

some of last night but it wasn't meant to be. Was there anything

different today? I felt good in myself, I guess my mind and body

weren't connecting. I knew that I had a shot on the last dive if I

really went after it. I needed 102, I was working out, which was

basically 9.5s and tens, and I gave it my all but it just didn't happen

today. But it did happen last week, you've already got a bronze medal

from these Olympics, so not a write-off by any stretch of the

imagination! Successful in that sense. You know what, I am happy.

After 2012 I came away with the bronze medal and now I've got a

bronze medal in synchro with Dan. I just wanted to get that Olympic Gold

Medal this time around. But there's always another four years. So Tokyo

is definitely in your sites? Tokyo is definitely my sites, more than

ever now! Tom, you've done so much for the profile of the sport and you

have an army of fans and rightly so. I can see why you're upset but

there's no reason to be too heartbroken. Wang Q. It's just

heartbreaking because it's the Olympic Games and those five rings

on the wall mean so much to me. To be not in the final to get the shot

to go for that medal, it's just heartbreaking. It's a good story,

isn't it, for Tokyo? You know films, give it an even better narrative!

I'm going to give it my best shot and work even harder than ever

before. Another one of those interviews, really difficult to

watch, just like Lutalo Muhammad yesterday. He is trying to smile and

deal with it, trying his best to deal with it and we just hope that

Tom Daley can come back and perform again on the lead big stage. We will

keep an eye on him over the next few days and hopefully get more reaction

the days after he has not managed to qualify for the final of the diving.

For every story of triumph and disaster, we will probably see Tom

Daley in Tokyo in four years' time, there is a story like Mo Farah. He

won his Gold Medal to add to the two that he won in London four years

ago. These two, mother and daughter, were there. What was it like?

Absolutely fantastic. We've been lucky enough to see him run in World

Championships. We didn't get to see him run in London, so it was

fantastic to see him over here. Adelaide is 14 and what number

Olympic Games is this for you? It is my fourth! Your first one was at the

age of two? Yes, I went to Athens, Beijing, London and now Rio. So, of

those four Olympic Games, can you remember what happened at the age of

two? Not really! I get the feeling your mum is trying to drag you into

the Olympic experience, is that what it's all about, Tracy? When you

watch someone who has prepared for years in a sporting endeavour, it

teaches you a lot about striving to reach a goal and I think that is

really important for them. As well as being on holiday, they are being

people who have worked really hard to achieve what they want to

achieve, so it's a good life lesson as well. I've also heard that you

are the British family that gave Mo Farah his flag after he won gold the

other night in the 10,000 metres. You haven't got it back? We haven't

got it back! At the World Championship last year the women's

4x400 metres asked for our flag and I was appalled because our flag was

filthy, it was at the end of the session, it had ice cream and

sweat... Don't tell me you prepare it, did you wash it it just in case?

I've watched our spare one this morning in case we have the same

incident again, because it's the end of the Olympics, our flag is filthy,

so we've watched it again just in case Mo Farah blacks

-- Mo Farah asks for our flag! We're now down to two, if he asks for one,

we have got it! This is very careful planning. Adelaide, have you got the

same seeds as the other night? I don't think so. At your near enough

to throw a flag! Yeah! We will make sure we're close enough to throw the

flag. I can see the determined look in your eyes. All mums can be

embarrassing at times, Adelaide, we know this. Yak a lot!

Is there anything written on your flag? It is the athletics club flag,

and that is hanging, and we will throw a Team GB flag of get the

chance. We will watch out for you tonight. Enjoy your time on the

beach and the athletics tonight. We will take you over to basketball. As

promised we will bring you USA against Spain in the gold-medal

match. I will hand you over to the commentators.

This strategy, it is kind of football orientated. Good defensive

intensity. Charles gets the past. That one will go out of bounds. For

the United States they are already getting offensively bands. Spain

have got to keep an eye on this. The referee was having a word with

the officials, who signalled 2-1. The US keep possession. Bird did not

step out. The referee was checking something with the scorer bench.

Nichols is fighting for position against Griner. Spain got exactly

what they needed in the opening minute and a half. And I wondered if

the United States have ever gone this long without scoring in a game!

Excuse me, Taurasi pushed. If you're going to play like this, you can put

in as much effort as you can, but she does it all.

Charles Hecht. 5-2. 2.5 gone in the first period. Charles is wearing a

protective shield for her nose. It was too high. It will go to the

United States. She turned to her team-mate and said you need to move.

To get the passing going, there has to be movement. Torrens will be

called for the foul. United States are starting to get into the rhythm.

Torrens and Bird are team-mates. That shot by Charles was way short.

That has to be reset of the clock. That can be reviewed under the new

rules. No question, it hit the ring. But no, it goes to Spain. United

States at dominating the fence aboard right now. They have been

given some chances. -- dominating defence.

No violation this time. The referee is very quick. As soon as they see

any hand going in there, the whistle blows. Luckily for the United States

they were not really heard by that call on the 24 second.

Torrens got the foul. She had to drag it along. That is the president

of the IOC, sitting with Adam Silver, the commissioner of the

basketball Association in the US. Driving into traffic. The United

States have a big height advantage, but this is how you get around it,

put up these efforts. She's shielding the ball with her body.

Four minutes gone in the first feeding -- period. She looked as if

to say, how can you even think they would call a foul on me? It Spain

can keep this law, they have a real opportunity.

The United States have only shot less than 100 points on two

occasions, and that was against France and Canada, and the French

pushed them early on. Griner gets it, and this thing she gets the

foul. There was nobody between her and the basket. That is the

difficulty for Spain, when you have Griner who stands at 638, and the

other is six foot five, Ndour, you just do not have that reach. -- when

she is six. A foul on Charles. Spain cannot let

this deter them. They have to keep putting pressure on the United

States when they can. It has been going all right for them so far.

Not many teams have led against the United States, and when they have

they have been unable to finish. Spain at least have this lead, it is

whether they can keep it consistent for the rest of the game.

The pass goes beyond Tina Charles's reach. Spain get the ball back just

under five minutes to play. Fouled, but I think it went off

Bird's fit. A really nice move from Nichols to play it off her opponent.

There was nothing else she could do. The file will be on Nichols, who

looked to have a good piece of the ball. -- the foul. The only thing

Spain will want to improve on as the rebound. Aside from that they are

looking really good. If they keep getting the United States second and

third attempts, they will punish them. No question about the foul.

But she is not the best shooter. They can hear me, I think! They want

to prove me wrong. She is the weakest shooter, but that shows how

strong the United States are, she is at 61%. And she misses. Spain kept

it in. In international basketball you are

allowed to sit on the player who is on the floor. Does actually say

that? It does not say it, I'm judging by what has happened so far.

The possession was with the United States. That will alternate through

possessions. She got it back to her. That was not

the easiest way, but it worked. It has been taped quarter. That was a

beauty. The pass from Palau was outstanding. Bird Nichols is really

working hard. -- Nichols is really working hard. Charles went straight

into it. Bumped into it. Fowles, I should say. The Spanish are playing

tough. They are being physical here, and you have two against the United

States team full stop adding excessively, but they have.

-- I did not know they could play so aggressively, they have Dominguez

has just come into the game. A deliberate but not unsportsmanlike

foul. It is two shots at the line. I'm not sure that Rodriguez

recognised that. The United States are not shooting

as well as you would expect them to coming in here. Dirty 1%. She ran

the court beautifully. Spain again takes the lead. Three mostly. The US

will get the possession. They are living up to those expectations full

of from Ndour. Just over three to play in the quarter.

About four blocks to Spain, and zero for the United States. You might

have thought that statistic was wrong, or the other way around.

Ndour at the foul line, and that goes through, 14-12. This has been a

great first quarter for Spain. The way they have approached this game,

it has been a really good plan, and they are putting pressure on the

United States. She picked up the foul. She was

doing well, Ndour. Lots of contact. And the problem for Spain, of

course, is that lack of depth. Gil is a decent centre. Not as mobile as

Ndour. Makes the first one, della Donna. She can tie up the game with

the second. And does. We are tied at 14, 2.19 to play in the first

quarter. Spain are probably going to give away a lot of fouls and the

Americans are strong from the foul line. For three... That was her

spot! She was looking for her spot and found it at 17-14, to Spain.

Spain are on in this game and you have to be on against the United

States. Spain are on in this game, so far anyway.

17-16. And now the bodies have crashed down and that is going to be

a blocking foul on Nicholls, as Macau tree -- as McCouightry went

down. She was moving and she had the hip out. Just her eyes caused the

foul, I think! A minute and 35, Spain leading by one. Della Donna.

Whalen. Now the second cutter, the foul is called for travelling. Well,

Spain are doing a remarkable job here. It was maybe a tough call on

fouls, but it is the pressure coming. They're doing well, the

Spanish. Two as no fouls for the Laura Nicholls. That is one thing to

keep in mind, they can't allow too many fouls because it could put them

out of the game. Pask -- Pascua is in and she takes the rebound. The

whistle went a bit earlier. The Minghella is picked up the foul

there. -- Dominguez picked up the foul there. Lost her balance but

there it was. Whalen at the foul line now, just under a minute to

play. And she misses the first shot. Coming into this one has that's were

at 80% -- the USA's stats were 80% from the foul line, but struggling a

bit here. I keep saying that about this arena! You don't believe me,

but I keep saying it! We are all tied again at 17 with just under a

minute to play. Dominguez brings the ball up for Spain. Floater is short

and will rebound to Tina Charles. Pushes it up to McCoughtry.

McCoughtry lays it in. 19-17. Sometimes they make it look easy.

You can't allow it to happen too often. They're going to have to make

United States work for every basket. But for Spain, it is a question of,

how long can they keep it up for? Gil! And Gil hit the front of the

rim as she went through the centre of the pain, and now holding for the

last shot. Other teams all had good first quarters against the United

States but they couldn't carry on with it, and that has to be the

objective for Spain. McCoughtry is fouled by Pascua, with four seconds

left in the quarter. The fouls have really mounted up for

Spain. I think they've been fairly spread, but they have to be careful.

Especially their key players, that they're not committing to many. It

is 9-3 on the fouls. The US is not taking advantage of it completely,

right now they are five from ten on free throws, very uncharacteristic.

Make that six from 11. You would expect that to improve. Dominguez

comes down quickly, March is the two hander and Mrs high on the glass. A

late bucket and a couple of fouls shots that the US up by four at the

end of the quarter, but basically Spain has come out and played very

aggressively and what has been really oppressive is the great play

they have got from Ndour and Nicholls, exactly who they needed to

play well. We're going to rejoin that soon, but

a break between the two quarters. It is

-- it is day 15 and here are the headlines so far. Great news for

Nicola Adams, she has retained her medal in the women's flyweight in

the boxing, the first reduce bugs to do that in 92 years. -- the first

British boxer to do that. Liam Heath has won his second Gold Medal of

these games, with gold in the men's canoe, or kayak. Vicky Holland

claimed a bronze medal for Team GB as Jorgensen took gold in the

triathlon for USA. We've heard from Tom Daley today, qualifying for the

semifinal in first place, but just couldn't get it to work today and

did not make the final of the ten-metre platform. And we've shown

you plenty of golf in the past few days. Inbee Park of South Korea is

the Olympic Golf Course be in. 16-under par, winning by five shots.

Charley Hull, good performance from her over the four days. She finished

joint seventh. Let's bring you some live body

boarding down here from Copacabana. Normally we only show you the sea

when it is dark. There are some kids out there despite the red flag

saying no swimming! Shall we try one more wave? We saw a wipe-out for one

lady last night! What a disappointment. That's probably some

of the worst body boarding we've seen, and unfortunately that is the

only bit we've brought you live on BBC Four! We will try and record

the best bits we've enjoyed down here on the beach. We will try and

tidy that up a bit later on but right now, back to the live sport,

back to the basketball. USA against Spain, 4-point lead at the start of

the second quarter. 48 match unbeaten run 14 USA's women. Let's

COMMENTATOR: Bird, for three... It is 24-17. If United States can get

their 3-point shooting going, it will really relieve some of the

pressure. The foul on the outside. I'm a little surprised they got two

points in there. Dominguez is a spark kind of player.

Cruz hands it off to Xargay. Nicholls goes into the basket,

24-19. Excuse me, that was Xargay laying it in. Great hustle. She has

been Spain's best player so far, contributing at both ends of the

court. Great stuff from Ndour. The whistle, the call will be on

McCoughtry. Spain knew that they had to up that part of their game, the

rebound is. They have done well to box McCoughtry out there and make

sure that Ndour got it. The previous effort from Xargay, it just opened

up and she went straight through the gap. The foul was on McCoughtry,

being pushed over by Xargay. Xargay gets the ball. Nice move. Off

the glass, Charles with the rebound to Bird. Nicholls came up too

quickly. Ndour got enough of her to keep her from getting the shot she

wanted. Ndour is such a pivotal figure for Spain. Causing real

trouble for the United States and as long as Spain can keep doing this,

they are still in the game. There are only five points behind.

Defensively, she and Nicholls are doing a great job of keeping them a

bit further from the basket that they want to be. Into the game early

is Stuart, and it is 24-21, as Torrens comes back into the game and

immediately makes her presence felt. Bird and Moore got their wires

crossed. And Breanna Stewart with the turnover. This is lastly

different from the way that the teams played in the group stage,

because that was a blow out to the United States, but Spain are well in

this. Nicholls missed everything, and Bird to Stuart.

Look at coach Mondello, he nearly ran into her because he was on the

edge of the court! And then she was signalled for travelling. But in the

meantime, Stewart's pass and it is 27-21.

Ndour, for three. And she hits that! She is doing it all, Ndour! What a

game she is having. Knocking down threes, defending brilliantly.

Fantastic performance. She's keeping her side in this! 27-24. Moore takes

the past, feeds it into Stewart, she is fouled by Dorrans.

I think Spain would prefer this foul to be on Ndour, and it is an Ndour.

Third personal. This is a concern for Spain. They may have to bring

her off, because just one more foul left, they can ill afford for their

best player so far to have to go off. When she gets the fourth foul,

she then has to play very conservatively. Ndour with five

Whalen comes in. One thing Whalen does that Bird

doesn't is penetrate directly. She's a little bit more aggressive.

more difficult for the US. Like you say, Whalen likes to penetrate

there! She knows what they need to do. So far, they've been doing it

because they are outscoring Spain. When the shops start to drop for the

US, you have a real problem. Greatly pass for Torrens, but it was

too far. Xargay is fouled on the outside by

Fowles. For Spain, it is a matter of trying to keep up, really, with

United States now. Get as many points as you can, don't think too

much about the scoreboard. And try to get back into this context. If

you keep chipping away, you give yourself an opportunity.

That is great stuff from Cruz. They need to do that, they need to

penetrate. Gil is the only big in for Spain.

it, I glimpsed it on Facebook but I try to keep away from my phone and

reading stuff. It did not play on my mind much. I still look up to those

guys, Tim is one of my idols, I watched him when I was little, and

all the guys who competed over the years, I still look up to them and

to be honest I still feel like I need to achieve what they have done.

But it is an absolutely incredible feeling. You are now the standard

setter for anybody who wants to paddle, you are the man.

Liam Heath, who actually popped down to see us at the BBC studios where

Hazel does the morning programme, and he is a big lad. Significant

shoulders. The amount of work that goes in to make sure that when you

come to an Olympic Games you perform as best as you possibly can, and for

Liam Heath that was a gold medal. Nicola Adams this afternoon also

went for gold. A massive story in London, she came here as the

overwhelming favourite, and we will show you the final two rounds of her

about today, the gold medal match against French opponent. We pick it

up at the start of round three. Two rounds completed, two to go and

both of the completed rounds so far have been scored in favour of the

reigning Olympic champion, Nicola Adams. She has demonstrated superior

ring craft thus far but expect her opponent to adopt an all or nothing

approach in her efforts to get to top spot on the Olympic medal

podium. You said it, the tactics are predictable from the French boxer.

Nicola has got to keep on the end of her job but just adjust her feet.

She has got to slip that shot and tried to work downstairs but she is

difficult to get to, she has got the full range of movement. Ourahmoune,

she must push her back to the ropes and restrict that, if she is to have

any success. Adams is working well with a left jab but Ourahmoune is

getting closer and made Adams for short. She is one of two woman on

the French team along with eight men. How much inspiration will

Ourahmoune take from her colleague winning gold earlier as she looks to

overturn a two point deficit in all three scorecard? Could jab by

Ourahmoune. -- good. She is having success here and there are but Adams

just put her in her place, back on the back foot. Occasionally Adams

just holds her feet and is prepared to stand and trade. As I said before

she can fight any inside or outside and this is a performance again from

Adams. More success for the boxer in blue, but Nicola Adams continues to

land eye-catching punches. Plenty of support in attendance for the

British boxer. All appears calm in the red corner. Some good stuff from

Adams. That is a nice shot, Ourahmoune did have some success,

that right hand was not far away, but Adams just counterattacking,

beating her opponent to the punch, stepping inside, good right hand.

The French supporters for Ourahmoune, she needs to fight the

contest of her life, and now in the last round she will either have to

knock out Adams or force a stoppage. That will be very difficult.

Ourahmoune, with that increased success, sweeps Round 3 across the

board. Just one point in it. 29-28 Adams with all three judges. Into

the fourth and final round of this gold-medal bout in the 51 kilograms

flyweight division. Nicola Adams has conceded the round preceding this

one and Ourahmoune has taken inspiration from it and come out in

aggressive mood in this fourth and final round, landing effect of the

with the right hand. Given the status of the contest Adams cannot

afford to box defensively to protect a lead, and that is why we are

seeing exchangers, they are not tidy, but exchanges close to the

ropes. Her strength is on the outside. Get that timing back. The

1-2, a good strength shot from Adams, that is what she has got to

do, hit her opponent as she comes, concentrate and get those accurate

shot mid-to long, rather than on side. The referee allowing the

fighters to box away at close range. After an 11 day wait to get her

campaign under way here in Rio Nicola Adams did fade noticeably in

the fourth and final round to Beasley but was still a winner

convincingly enough against the Ukrainian. That she cannot afford a

similar fate here. This is her third contest of the tournament and she

will have shed any ring rust. But Ourahmoune is desperately trying to

work at close range. Adams just making the mistake of just after

landing the shot falling into her opponent, which is what Ourahmoune

wants, to work at close range, threes and fours are coming in now

from the French opponent. Adams has got to compete. Both fighters are

skilfully extracting the best of one another. Deep into the final round

who can produce the final moment of quality? Cracking right hand from

Ourahmoune. It is an incredibly tight gold-medal bout between two

familiar rivals. At the end of the third-round Nicola Adams led by one,

with all three judges, and Ourahmoune mounted a spirited rally

in the fourth and final round. It is incredibly tight, how will the

judges score that final round? It was close, Adams really had to

rally. She had to equal the workrate of her opponent and I think she just

did enough to win that last round, Ourahmoune work better on the inside

but Adams worked better at mid and long. So a very close round but for

me Nicola Adams just had a better, eye-catching, quality work, it will

hopefully see her through. Nervous moments for both of the

opponents now. A keenly contested gold medal. Who will be crowned

champion? Ladies and gentlemen, the winner, by

unanimous decision, and Olympic champion...

Nicola Adams! Nicola Adams lets out a triumphant roar, having been

crowned Olympic champion for the second successive time. She joins an

exclusive club reserved only for boxers with impeccable Olympic

credentials. A fantastic performance to fetch her name or indelibly into

the annals of Olympic boxing history by becoming the first woman to win

two Olympic titles in the boxing ring.

Great stuff from Nicola Adams and I think she might be appearing

when they met in the qualifying group. That's been the problem for

every team playing the US. You can keep it up for a quarter or two but

to be consistently matching it for the entire game is so difficult,

they have so many threats, and when Taurasi starts hitting threes... The

tall, their strong, from inside, from outside, and you have to play

the perfect game and no one has come up with the perfect game against the

United States. Taurasi, all 3-pointers getting through.

Catchings and Taurasi have three gold medals. Charles, Whalen and

Moore picked up their first gold medals in London.

but I don't think Spain have any other possible conclusion to come to

in trying to get back into this game. Not only can they do it, but

they can do it easily. That is the advantage. Whalen misses the foul

shot. It is going to be off Tina Charles. Ndour is keeping up with

Taurasi. I think this might be on Palau for

reaching in. She looks a forlorn figure. That is going to be a foul.

Normally whenever Brazil go into a game, most Brazilian fans are

convinced they will win but because of the way they're playing, there is

some concern about how they are playing. We are still confident

because we are only the country who has won five stars so we are still

the best. So we will win this, I am sure. You are a resident of Rio, so

how have you found the Olympic experience? Coming to the last few

days, how has it been for you? I think it was good. People were

thinking that we are going to not do well but I think we delivered. I

think so. And what about the legacy? What about years to come? Will it be

positive? When we are looking at this day four years in the future,

will we be saying it was a great experience for Rio and it actually

made a difference? It was definitely a great experience. It was a great

experience for Brazil. I think so, yes. And, hopefully, people will

have more positive thoughts about Brazil now. And what about some of

the gold medals the Brazilians have one? Rafaela Silver in the judo, the

pole vault, the boxing, the sailing, and the beach volleyball? Yes, it

was great, well done to the guys, we are proud of them and, hopefully, we

and that is the payment at the other end I am afraid, nothing they could

do about that. It could have been a different story altogether.

A much more action packed opening to this half. It took quite a while to

get the first couple of goals at the start of the first half but it is a

bit more lively now. Now Russia on the break. The whistle goes, and the

referee shakes her head is Sudakova drove through to try to find the

back of the net. The ball was lost by France at the other end with

Lacrabere desperately looking for the line rather than the shot.

Cutting back toward the middle, going back from one side to the

other, and the line player readjusting. Bobrovnikova, try to

find a way through. That was lucky. France's stream forward. Earlier in

the game did not truly suit France, in fairness, they are all about

defence and bringing the ball up. And that is a first save under the

bill for Glauser. France coming forward. Too many steps, against

Sudakova, you are only allowed three steps without bouncing dribbling.

What a lovely pass that is. And it is finished by coups nets --

Kuznetsova and that is a four goal advantage. Glauser, was always going

to struggle with that, especially with her accuracy rate. Late

thinking about that one, very slow with the whistle, but it is a free

throw, they thought it should have been a penalty. They may show that

she broke through and bill for it should be a penalty. Free throw it

is. Lacrabere Find it, would have been a penalty anyway. Winning so

many penalties, this, another one, stepping well inside the area,

couldn't really give that one. A seven metre throw. And then comes

not a penalty, goals are hard to come by at both ends, the French

finding it very tough defensively. They knew they would. Oh, smuggled

in. Miss rate by the goalkeeper but the score again -- miss read. And

that is a really good save. Now Russia charging forward. And the

the Russians are watching her like a hawk. She looks the gaps, will

literally crossed the entire court. They know it and they are looking

out for it. It is also widely France right-winger is not getting a huge

running, the captain, Dembele, and the ball, straight at the far post,

and suddenly French tales are up again. Have they found their range?

Has Lacrabere got a bit of a spur? France take their time to rebuild

the attack. You always wonder why they don't suddenly turn around and

spin back in again when the changes made, but they are very, very slowly

taking their time. Ten minutes played. Russia 13-11 France. Miss

connected. Not catching the ball the same pace she came on to court with.

We'll walk again. The French defence has tightened up quite a bit.

Indeed, still coming on in defence. France 11-13 Russia, either France

or Russia are going to win their first ever Olympic gold medal. Oh,

it is in. The goalkeeper slams the floor with her hand, she is very

frustrated to have conceded that. It is just squeezed in under her left

foot and Russia get their advantage back up to three goals. Vyakhireva,

driving across. Shooting across her body, should not really have those

opportunities, but it has happened twice. Back again, Niombla has a big

shot on her but has not really used it in this game. Dembele, not really

helping there, and why did she not run around herself? There was so

much space! And the whistle has gone anyway after a very long pause. I

think the Russians may keep possession, we wait to see, but it

is Lacrabere who has gone down, she was shoulder barged out of the way.

And looks to be in some pain. She does not go down easily either,

Lacrabere, she can take the knocks, and that will be a big concern? But

why not try to run for the gap? She could have got the penalty.

The doctor is looking and huddling around her. France 11 and Russia 14,

that is going to be a concern. He gives a thumbs up to someone but you

don't want a star player down, especially if it is the left

shoulder because that is the shooting arm. She isn't looking like

she's going to be in any state to continue at the moment. Visibly

distressed. Legitimate run, but she was caught. The coaches looking on.

So far so good. For the Russians. They've got to stay focused. Off she

goes for some more treatment. The problem with the French is that with

the injuries they've had earlier in the competition, they only have two

other left-handers. Ayglon takes over in that position. The Russians

have a good opportunity through the misfortune of the right back. Not a

huge angle but it was doable. Let's not worry too much in terms of

the goal-scorers. She has a smile. Let's see how

serious this is. If you go off, you have to missed three attacks. That

is an attacking foul. Russia are on the break. France take it quickly.

France really sooner rather than later need to stop to claw back.

They've kept pace with Russia and the second half with four goals

apiece but there is a 3-goal deficit they suffered in the first half

which means they need to start to get back on level terms. Looks like

she's all sorted to a certain extent. The Reef Road to the French.

Kuznetsova is having a very good match so far. There they are! Pineau

got a hit after she released the shot. You can see it. She is fouled.

It was the shoulder, really of Dmitrieva. The injury problems are

mounting. Pineau looks OK. She shakes her head and walks back down.

The coach has been given a yellow card, presumably about the

displeasure of those moves. Too many steps. Now here's the

counterattack opportunity. There is the back of the net! France are back

to within one goal. They can see the gold medal coming back into their

sites. Her arm was grabbed as she went for the goal but she still

found the back of the net, Dembele. There is a two-minute suspension. It

was pulled away after the player had gone past. France need to capitalise

on the extra player. They getting carried away in the

attack and the momentum of the Russian attack they can't afford to

lose too many of their experienced players.

Straightforward for the French goalkeeper! Just diving down to her

left and now here they come! Into the roof of the net and France are

level. 14 minutes to go in this Olympic final and the French fans

are on their feet. They were well beaten in goal. The

goalkeeper couldn't do anything. It was a good defence by the French,

the Russians running out of time on their attack. Suddenly, there is

renewed energy not only in the team but in the fans as well.

The Russians are back to full strength. She's going through a

great spelling golfer France, Dancette. That was a great save.

That was her fourth save from big shots. They've run off the left-hand

side and emerging here into the right back position is once again

France's top scorer. They're trying to keep the

experienced players on here. Shildon all right, she's a left-hander.

Half-hearted attempt. As a brake on the side her first goal of the game!

And the initiative slips back to Russia. Easily picked up by

Kuznetsova. Still had work to do and then they fired it into the back of

the nets. France have called a time-out just to calm the players

down a little bit because the whole action on court, the huge arena

starting to get heated right now. They're saying they have to be even

faster on the fast break but if it doesn't work, you have to slow it

back down again. They keep on going too fast, but as the Russian

players, they are dictating at the moment, as we see these great shots

from the game so far. Taking those long-range shots and planting them

into the top corner, those are the instructions. The Russians just want

to get the initiative back. 12 minutes left in the Olympic final.

Both sides looking for their first ever gold medal. Maybe Lacrabere

wasn't fully fit. She's been taken off again.

The Russians are moving the pace now. Good save! That was a big saved

by Glauser and immediately Pineau says slowdown. Fast on the break,

slow on the set piece. She did very well indeed, the goalkeeper. Pineau,

rubbing the back of her leg, she got caught. Still no Lacrabere. Maybe

those first few passes made her realise her shoulder isn't right.

Ayglon, she's an experienced right back. Her club went bankrupt this

year. It is given away! I thought a

Russian hand guard got on that but it is out of play. Now here Russia

again. Zhilinskayte, that is basically what

the French have been told to do. Get up quickly, then take it slow. So,

Dmitrieva in the centre. They've made two mistakes on the next two

attacks and been punished each time, the French. That has opened up the

wing! It has gone wide! Dembele gambled and went wide, and left so

much space. Two attackers to mark. Bliznova should have done better.

Her shoulder seemed to have taken a blow. We are into the final ten

minutes of the Olympic final. There is the shot, it is pretty much at

the keeper. Russia come forward with the fast play. She's brought down

and Russia get possession once again. Landre balsa Rover and goes

over the top of her, I'm surprised she didn't step on her. So,

Bobrovnikova is in the thick of it as ever. Dmitrieva is having a good

game in the centre. Vyakhireva, she has had a fair measure of success

and these games. Bobrovnikova, cuts back. It is still a free throw. Time

is running out for the French. That is how you do it! Vyakhireva says

try that next time. Russia retake their two goal advantage. Vyakhireva

putting it passed Glauser. Vyakhireva is back on the bench.

Format goals from five shots. Dembele tried to drive-in. Here

comes another fast break. Sen! Crucial one there for the French

because they are only two goals down with eight minutes to go. The

goalkeepers must be cursing the attack because they're giving away

the ball cheaply, France, not listening to the instructions,

playing too fast for the rain good. Their finishing is so frustrating.

Down on for 2%, well below the standard. She did well to cut back

diagonally, Bobrovnikova. First for higher but how important could that

be? Pineau collected but then let her go. 14-17 to Russia with seven

minutes left in this Olympic final. France need to get back on top. That

is the way to get it started! The gap is back down to two with seven

minutes. It was a nicely worked goal and she would have got a penalty

anyway. Bobrovnikova well inside with that shot.

The French bring to an end a run of three goals for the Russians. Both

teams have had their moments of domination. And Kuznetsova, calling

for the floor to be mocked, but it helps any rate that there is a team

time-out by Russia, they need to reset rings. -- things.

So the instruction is, you have got to drive in, to go on the attack. A

little later, but a little faster. They are running into early and

having to check the runs, the French. The Russians, well, they are

punishing the French for their wastefulness in shooting at the

other end. Six and a half minutes on the clock in the Olympic final.

France 15-17 Russia, it has been a fascinating women's handball

tournament. Driving in, and scoring the goal. The gap is back up to

three now. The defending by Russia forcing them back again. The

substitutions being made. Dancette Coming in for the injured

right-winger, France was only one right-winger, and a very poor

long-range shot that. But at least she has got the nerves to do it in

her very first competition, she only played her first matches for France

earlier this year in the qualifiers versus Iceland and Switzerland, this

is opposition of a rather higher calibre.

Bobrovnikova, again, crossed the goal, it has worked a couple of

times before. And it is the shot that is starting to make the

Russians believe it could either a year. You can see the reactions on

the bench. But Dembele, 16-19, you just feel like we will get a

grandstand finish. Great work from Bobrovnikova, but then straight up

the other end for Dembele to fire it into the net. Three girls in it

still. Given how hard the goals are to come by three is able to make up.

Again, a late blow from the referee. Bobrovnikova, she probably agrees

with the call. At the clock is ticking away relentlessly.

Long-range shot, and a cheeky one there for the French to concede.

Taking a chance, and Dmitriyeva coming away with a goal. Dembele,

came across to help, but it did not matter, because Dmitriyeva scored.

Here, France again. When the little bounce. Coming inside. Look how busy

the Russian defences. France is trying their best to find some room.

The coach is bellowing on the touchline to his defence. Dembele, a

little shimmy, and a good goal from Gnonsiane Niombla but Fran

still need to make up a 3-goal deficit. They will need a lot more

than that, she has not taken her chances in the game so far.

Bobrovnikova Coming back in. The industrious Dmitriyeva looking for

space. And it is a free throw and the clock is ticking away

relentlessly, the time is very much against France, and at the Russians

look good for gold unless France can find something very special. And

that is a penalty, again, driving into six metres. Vyakhireva, causing

problems, and Dembele shops are over, and the coach knows that the

opportunities for France are slipping away. Stepping up to take

the penalty, Ilina, over the top, completely

missed it, is it a lifeline for France? If it is, they need to sort

out their shooting. And that is one back again. Within two now, France.

The birthday girl on the bench watches, as far in the corner as you

can get, great height. 83 kilometres an hour. We are inside the last two

minutes. France are defending deep. The line will have a bit of space,

but the Russians respond by putting in a second line player. Briefly she

comes back out again. No way through, it is a free throw, but

that is fine, it runs down the clock. The French are begging for

the clock to be stopped, the Norwegian referee shakes her head,

but a team time-out? Is it? They are taken, there you go. One and a half

minutes to go. He wants the players to be more

aggressive in defence, go up quick and then let the Russians drive in

for the attacking foul so we can turn it over. We see some of the

action from the game so far. France Trail by two. One and a half minutes

to go. Sharing the goal, then sitting down and realising they are

still not quite there yet. Pineau, has done so much. So, defending a

long way and. Try to steal the ball. One and a half minutes is enough

time but if Russia keep their head then the gold medal is theirs. They

have had three passes. Four, five. Surely, one pass and a short... Oh!

Diagonal shot again! The bench is in raptures and that could be it. Here,

France, it is now or never. The whistle goes for a free throw. One

minute left. They are three goals behind. A little fumble. Picked up

again, and the back of the net is found, 50 seconds. We see the goal

again, Pineau fumbled it, but somehow the situation is rescued, a

bit of luck for the French. The coach cannot believe it. The French

are individually marking, exactly the right thing, right through the

middle, looking for the foul, and Vyakhireva gets it, and the clock is

being run down. And another girl, and that is it. Russia will take the

gold. France tried so hard but in the end of their work to many

mistakes. Their heads are dropping ever so slightly, the gap is too big

now. Maybe one last goal for the honour? Pineau Does not look

interested. There it is. Gold for Russia. What a moment for their

team. We can take you across to a packed

Maracana Stadium where the host nation Brazil are hoping to win the

gold medal. We join it at the Brazilian national anthem.

Sounds like an incredible atmosphere. At half-time in this

game and we will speak to three of the gold medal stars from the Team

GB hockey finalist yesterday, but commentary of this gold medal match

comes from Kevin Caliban and Alistair man.

Try telling those inside the Maracana Stadium that this is not

the World Cup final. The two most successful football nations on earth

meet in one of the most iconic stadiums in the world, both hoping

to achieve something neither has done before, securing an Olympic

gold-medal. If that is not tantalising enough it is also an

opportunity for the host nation to seek revenge for a humiliating

defeat two years ago to Germany, 7-1, ending their hopes of winning

their home World Cup, a moment that plunged this proud footballing

nation into a state of dejection and total disbelief. In reality it means

there is an enormous amount of expectation resting on the young

shoulders of what is ostensibly the under 23 team. You are allowed three

overage players. They have kept the same starting XI who got them this

far. Their three overage players are in goal, Augusto, and of course,

Neymar. He has so far been outstanding. He has never shirked

responsibility. He, more than any other, feels as though there is some

sort of redemption to be gained from that 7-1 capitulation against

Germany. Germany, so far, have outscored the hosts. They have

scored 21 goals in five games. Like the hosts, they failed the same

starting XI, only two of their three overage players are included, the

Bender brothers. The other, Peterson, takes a place on the

bench, despite being their joint top scorer. In charge of Germany, the

former international striker Horst Hrubesch. Germany showed two years

ago they were able to ignore the sense of occasion and focus on the

task at hand regardless of whether they would be cast as the ultimate

party poopers. If ever there was a set of players capable of breaking

hearts all over again, it is surely the Germans. Even if on this

extraordinary occasion it is that under 23 side, and not be seen

yours. -- the seniors. Only one of either squad was even available for

the World Cup final two years ago. Neymar, he was injured for that

much. So in reality a revenge mission is certainly not on the

agenda of those out there this evening.

If there's one side you feel can spoil the party, who can once again

do what the senior side have done, it is the German side. It certainly

is and you look throughout the side, and you have out here so much

experience, so much first-class experience. So they used to these

locations. -- these big locations. That is what is playing in their

hands. In the front four of the Brazilians, they are very talented.

That front four, they can cause Germany a lot of problems this

evening. The Brazilian coach was quick to point out to the pre-match

press conference that how can it be a revenge mission when nobody out

there played their part two years ago? Neymar will feel this is an

opportunity to make up for being injured in that semifinal. He

certainly wants to be very determined. And he wants to earn his

country their first gold medal. It is a very different task for Brazil

this evening from the semifinal with Honduras. Germany are much better

than Honduras. Scoring within 14 seconds, that set the tone for the

game. They weren't as dynamic, Germany, against Nigeria as you'd

have hoped. There are different dynamics and this game and it will

be intriguing. The crowd are a sell-out crowd. Seven Olympic

football medals between them but neither of these great footballing

nations have ever won a gold medal. The feature of the German play is

how the fullbacks push on. Brazil's quartet of attacking players, led by

Neymar, and Gabriel Jesus, they will try to exploit the fact the two

fullbacks push on as regularly as they do. It is the movement, Gabriel

and Gabriel Jesus... Brandt tries to create the genuine first opening.

Good counterattack from Germany. We've seen it so often throughout

this tournament. It's how he drives inside, Gnabry, and creates

goal-scoring opportunities. Brandt also likes to find himself in good

goal-scoring positions. Kevin alluded to the amount of

experienced... That Germany have at their disposal. Almost every single

member of the 18 have a least one season in the Bundesliga behind

them. Everywhere you look within their ranks, from the goalkeeper

Timo Horn, right through to Arsenal's Serge Gnabry, they are all

players who are freshfaced, but have an enormous wealth of experience.

Ginter was part of the World Cup squad that lifted the big trophy

itself two years ago. Excellent cover, just tracking

the run of Barbosa. So invariably you'll find Neymar and Barbosa

picking each other out. We mentioned about Brazil's full-backs but

Brazil's full-backs like high energy. They get forward really

well. Gabriel Jesus scored a couple of goals in the semifinal.

Manchester City player, officially. Weverton thumps it into the depths

of the stands. Just as we talk about the Germany full-backs, right on

cue, Klostermann is onside, it is overhit a little bit but as we were

saying at the start, so many different facets of this game that

are really intriguing. How can Germany block Brazil and Brazil with

the free-flowing style they play with, with the front four staying

forward, leaving gaps, but they rely heavily on the attacking threat they

have, the Brazil side. The atmosphere is fantastic. The

referee, by the way, is from Iran. He has decided not to brandish a

card to Lars Bender, but he will be on his final warning, you fancy.

He's lucky to get away with that. That is clear obstruction. There's

two, the two Bender twins, bringing experience to this side. When the

full-backs get forward, those two, Sven Bender and Lars Bender, they

have the awareness to sit in and cover.

Renato Augusto, one of those overage players permitted for the Brazilian

side. I think Manchester City are going to

enjoy watching Gabriel Jesus when he eventually comes to the Premier

League. Such a dynamic player, a real threat in front of goal.

Coming into tonight's game, Gabriel Barbosa has three, Gabriel Jesus has

three, Neymar has the grave. The front four has 11 between them.

Germany with six goals for Gnabry and seven for Nils Petersen, so they

both have plenty of goals between them. What is most noticeable is

that Brazil are yet to concede a single goal in this tournament so

far. We haven't said that too often in a Brazil side! As the Germany,

they haven't conceded a single goal in their last three matches, so what

is going to give? Neymar is determined enough to

retain possession. He got his shirt tugged as he did. And that was

Bender. Essentially for Brazil, with Neymar, he likes to play through the

middle but when he drops deep, Luan drops deep so there is good

possession for them. Germany have to try to silence the crowd. They have

not managed that in the opening nine minutes. The flag goes up. 79,000

similarly so inside the Maracana. That is correct from the assistant

referee from the far side. He strayed offside, Gabriel Jesus. But

the atmosphere is electric in the Maracana tonight.

Germany silenced the crowd two years ago, banging in so many goals. It

was a moment really when you had to rub your eyes and check what was

going on in front of you, whether you are a neutral or a fan of

Brazil, it was an astonishing evening.

That was a decent effort! That was Julian Brandt, who almost dead

silence the Maracana. He is a wonderful talent, plays the Bayer

Leverkusen, has plenty of Champions League experience, and a senior cap

as well, and he almost gave Germany the opener. It's a free kick. This

is an opportunity to have a look at that effort again. Well, Weverton is

well beaten in goal. Good effort from Bender to find Gnabry. It is a

lovely strike and the goalkeeper as well beaten. He's so unlucky he

can't get enough to dip it under the crossbar. And there's the warning.

Full quality in this side. Brazil are throwing bodies forward, they

getting caught out, too many getting advanced of the ball. It was

actually Sven Bender that picked Gnabry out. He had the vision to

spot that he had so much space on the left hand side. Max Meyer,

another wonderfully gifted footballer, plays his football for

Schalke, made his Bundesliga debut at 17. He, too, has a full cap. He's

a super player. Six goals, eight assists last season, you can see his

contribution to a top side. Just shows the strength within this

German side and scored in general. Brazil are going to have to earn the

right to win this gold medal. No matter how much support they get

from the Maracana or the will of 200 million people all over the country.

They have work to do. You can hear the roar every time the

ball gets into the possession of Neymar but Germany are brilliantly

organised and terrific the talented. That was a half chance for Neymar.

Could he have taken the strike early on his left foot? Always wants the

stronger right foot but it was a good ball.

Gabriel Barbosa, will Manchester United are one of the sites linked

with him. And Luan. Neymar again! Santos with a cross

and a half chance! That was Luan straight into the ground. And it

lost much of its staying as a consequence but that has got the

Maracana buzzing again. -- it lost much of its stinger. That was

brilliantly worked from Brazil from out to the right-hand side, starting

with Gabriel Barbosa, freeing up Renato Augusto, who then freed up

Neymar, who picked out Douglas Santos. Could he have done better

with the strike, Luan? It is a very good stand up and I think you should

have done better. I think it was a fairly easy one to hit. He gets the

strike on target but not hold of it at all. Excellent chance for Brazil.

They could have another one here because a free kick has been

awarded, too. That is retrieved by Gabriel

Barbosa. Picking out Neymar. Walace. Try to work something, Luan. Trawled

on the ball at the vital moment. You could hear 79,000 groans. He was

looking for the past before he had it under control. Excellent movement

from Neymar. Plenty to admire from both teams. This will be a titanic

tussle, no mistake. Gabriel Barbosa. Followed by Gnabry. Neymar was

closest but time for Horn to gather it up. Gabriel Barbosa almost runs

through players with his strength and physicality. Gabriel Jesus, and

the other side, looks to come off the left-hand side onto his stronger

right foot. Neymar tries to nudge it around Bender. Play on was initially

waved but there was not much of an advantage for Brazil so it is now a

free kick to the hosts. High boot. Good opportunity. We'll Neymar take

it on? It looks like he is going to. Half a dozen attempts from this kind

of distance. One went into the side netting, forcing a save from the

Honda was Cooper from the other. Two or three went straight into the

centre of the wall. -- the Honduras keeper.

In truth that was quite easily dealt with. There is Neymar again. He

was so determined in the semifinal. He got rough treatment, he was

battered and bruised, but never shied away from the responsibility

of leading the side by example. Worth noting that like in many

tournaments there is no obligation under

Fifa rules for clubs to release players. But Neymar practically

demanded he was released. There was no debate about it. There was

physicality in the semifinals but the Brazilian players themselves can

cope with it and from a defence of point of view they have one or two

players who do like a physical challenge. They have a flamboyant,

skilful element, but also an element that can mix it up and cope with the

physical side. This is actually the fourth time that Brazil have reached

the gold medal match. They have lost all three previous including in

London, surprisingly defeated and Mexico. -- defeated by. Luan, clever

ball, difficult to defend, but defended it was by Suele. Excellent

play by Luan, shifting it onto his left foot, playing in behind.

Gabriel Barbosa checked his run, expecting it to be stood up to the

far post. If he continued the run I think he had a tap in. A damp

evening. The temperature is warm but not too warm. The corner is

brilliantly swung in. And Horn got some sort of clearance on it. No one

really attacked it in the Brazil side, as a consequence of Germany

were able to get it away. Excellent ball played in. Brazil have

certainly had the better of the opening 20 minutes of this game. Of

course Germany had the better chance with Brandt hitting the bar but

Priscilla have really grown into the game and created a few openings with

out any real clear-cut chances at the moment. -- but Brazil have
