Once again on the Olympic stage it is Nicola Adams that has prevailed.

:00:29.:00:43.

Bianca Walkden of Great Britain. Big cheer for Mo Farah. He has fallen.

:00:44.:00:53.

Mo Farah wins the gold. Simply wonderful from Mo Farah.

:00:54.:01:00.

Great Britain and Northern Ireland have already beating the medals

:01:01.:01:08.

totals and potentially, the Gold Medal tally, at an away Olympic

:01:09.:01:12.

Games, the team is on the verge of the greatest ever Olympic

:01:13.:01:15.

performance and some of the stars to look out for are the biggest names,

:01:16.:01:20.

Nicola Adams and Mo Farah. It is a wild and windy day here in the Mac.

:01:21.:01:28.

-- Rio. The equivalent of the red arrows overhead has everybody

:01:29.:01:32.

clapping. In terms of British sport, we reflect with sadness, Tom Daley,

:01:33.:01:37.

we were expecting to see him in the final of the ten metres platform and

:01:38.:01:42.

he has not read the Bible. Overall, the British team are performing

:01:43.:01:46.

above expectation. There are always disappointment in sport for the

:01:47.:01:49.

things that do not work out. As you can see from the medal count,

:01:50.:01:56.

already above London and Beijing. It is just extraordinary when you think

:01:57.:01:59.

of the different sports that have won medals. Already today, Liam

:02:00.:02:05.

Heath in the 200 metre kayak sprint took gold and Vicky Holland took

:02:06.:02:11.

bronze in the triathlon. The most successful team is cycling, followed

:02:12.:02:15.

by gymnastics and swimming. Tom Daley was hoping to add to the medal

:02:16.:02:19.

count but in the end he could not make it. He qualified first into the

:02:20.:02:23.

semifinals this morning but was off his game today. He needed a final

:02:24.:02:29.

dive of over 100 points but it was not to be. His landing was just not

:02:30.:02:34.

right. He finished last out of the 18 and failed to qualify for the

:02:35.:02:38.

final. He said afterwards he was heartbroken and it has made him look

:02:39.:02:43.

again at his objectives and he is determined to make it finished

:02:44.:02:46.

differently in Tokyo in four years' time. To night, Nicola Adams in the

:02:47.:02:52.

final once again of the women's flyweight boxing. It is coming up on

:02:53.:02:57.

BBC One very soon. We will be talking to our hockey heroines and

:02:58.:03:01.

reflecting on the tae kwon do loss in the very last as catching up with

:03:02.:03:10.

the 4x100 metres relay team. We'll have Bianca Walkden who is a world

:03:11.:03:14.

champion, our quarterfinal is at 8:30pm. If they get through the

:03:15.:03:21.

semifinals, we will show you the diving, despite Tom Daley being in

:03:22.:03:25.

it. And we will have the bonus of Brazil versus Germany and the final

:03:26.:03:29.

of the football. The Brazilian fans excited about that, on BBC Four will

:03:30.:03:37.

stop the athletics with Mo Farah, is late again. It is worth staying up

:03:38.:03:43.

to 1:30am. Nicola Adams is coming next with her massive smile in the

:03:44.:03:50.

boxing ring. We have inside the reigning Olympic superheavyweight

:03:51.:03:51.

champion, Anthony Joshua, with John Inverdale.

:03:52.:03:57.

I am sure the family of Mull and other related about his build-up. He

:03:58.:04:06.

was the last British man to win back-to-back Olympic titles in 1920

:04:07.:04:11.

and 1924, Anthony Mullally. I am sure his family and descendants will

:04:12.:04:17.

have told many people about how he trained at a boxing club in Hackney

:04:18.:04:21.

in the East End of London. That boxing club no longer exists. It now

:04:22.:04:28.

forms part of the Olympic Park. Four years ago, Nicola Adams won her

:04:29.:04:33.

first gold medal in London. Harry had to make the short hop from

:04:34.:04:37.

Belgium to France to win his two medals, Nicola has gone from London

:04:38.:04:46.

to Rio. When I look in the mirror, I see a person that has been through

:04:47.:04:53.

hard times, struggled. I also see a person that when I have had all of

:04:54.:04:57.

these struggles, I had been able to get back up. It is not how you go

:04:58.:05:04.

down it is how you get back up. My introduction with boxing, I guess,

:05:05.:05:08.

was with my dad and the rest of the family. Sat round the TV, watching

:05:09.:05:14.

the big fights. And seeing replays of Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray

:05:15.:05:17.

Leonard winning their gold medals at the Olympics. Some of the

:05:18.:05:22.

professional world title fights as well. Some of the other girls that I

:05:23.:05:31.

train with, they have been turned away from gymnasiums, we do not

:05:32.:05:36.

train girls here. I was lucky. My coach didn't mind. He said, you will

:05:37.:05:41.

be treated the same as all the other boxers. That was fine, that was all

:05:42.:05:48.

I wanted. We are on the cusp of a profoundly significant moment

:05:49.:05:50.

because for the first time, women will compete in an Olympic boxing

:05:51.:05:56.

final at the Olympic Games. To become an Olympic boxer, the

:05:57.:06:00.

setbacks for me was that it was not an Olympic sport, it did not have

:06:01.:06:04.

funding and we did not get support. My mum had to fund a lots of my

:06:05.:06:10.

travelling, going away to training camps, petrol money. It added up to

:06:11.:06:14.

a lot, especially for the single parent. I knew how much the entire

:06:15.:06:19.

family had to sacrifice to get the error I am today. Nicola Adams has

:06:20.:06:24.

just made history. It meant absolutely everything to me.

:06:25.:06:29.

Everything I had to face, to think about now I am on top of the podium

:06:30.:06:33.

with a Gold Medal after all of these struggles, it was a dream come true,

:06:34.:06:39.

it really was. Nicola Adams of Great Britain is the Olympic champion. I

:06:40.:06:42.

think I have inspired so many people because they have seen that I come

:06:43.:06:47.

from a normal, working-class family. I have shown that with hard work and

:06:48.:06:51.

dedication you can achieve anything. You have to be prepared to get up

:06:52.:06:57.

and do the work. The first part of the Mission accomplished, Nicola

:06:58.:06:59.

Adams is through to the final for the second successive Olympic Games.

:07:00.:07:04.

I would like to call myself a double Olympic champion. I want to be the

:07:05.:07:08.

most accomplished amateur boxer we have had. I want that little bit of

:07:09.:07:17.

icing on the cake. It is just three minutes until the moment of truth

:07:18.:07:22.

for Nicola Adams. Anthony Joshua is here. What is it like in these last

:07:23.:07:25.

few Mormons before going into the ring for an Olympic final? For

:07:26.:07:32.

Nicola, she is such a bubbly person and lovely character, she has been

:07:33.:07:35.

in some walls and had some tough fights. She would have been fresh

:07:36.:07:41.

earlier on. It'll be interesting to see how her body has held up.

:07:42.:07:45.

Hopefully her legs are not heavy and shoulders are not too sure. -- so.

:07:46.:07:52.

She got rid of the biggest threat in the tournament so I hope she goes

:07:53.:07:55.

out and enjoys it. She has passed the toughest test and that she gets

:07:56.:08:01.

the win today. Harper 's contest was catchy, she said, rest assured I

:08:02.:08:04.

will get better as the competition goes on as the ring rust is God. Can

:08:05.:08:08.

you identify with that? I definitely agree. The first time, sometimes,

:08:09.:08:16.

you are overanxious. Something does not click the first thing you fight.

:08:17.:08:22.

If you get the decision, the ball starts rolling. For Nicola, she can

:08:23.:08:28.

only improve. She has had a tough is about. Hopefully, the lady that

:08:29.:08:33.

could repeat, she overcame that soda should be straightforward, God

:08:34.:08:36.

willing. You say that she is bubbly, she knows the enormity of what she

:08:37.:08:40.

might achieve, is that a danger that it weighs too heavily on her? Of

:08:41.:08:45.

course. Double Olympian, all the pressure on how that comes with

:08:46.:08:50.

that. On the outside, I am standing here and join the boxing, I am as

:08:51.:08:57.

cold as ice. For Nicola, she will be buzzing and given so much energy. As

:08:58.:09:01.

long as she can keep a lid on it and let it out in the ring, do not let

:09:02.:09:05.

the nerves get to her, I think she is very capable of winning. Here she

:09:06.:09:10.

is now, smiling once again. Look at the support, so many people here for

:09:11.:09:15.

her today. Even the Brazilians are familiar with her because they love

:09:16.:09:19.

boxing. She does not look at overawed by the occasion, when she

:09:20.:09:22.

is relishing the prospect of pottable unfold over the next 12

:09:23.:09:28.

minutes. If there is one danger, one caveat you will put on today, what

:09:29.:09:33.

will that be? She is a good attacking fighter. When I was

:09:34.:09:40.

watching her, you think that she does not do anything when resting

:09:41.:09:43.

and then out of the blue she will explode with punch combinations. As

:09:44.:09:47.

long as the legs are not too heavy and she is still sharp on her legs,

:09:48.:09:54.

when the opponent starts to have four punch combinations, she can get

:09:55.:09:58.

out of danger. I hope she is fresh, had her physiotherapy, ate well and

:09:59.:10:03.

then she has recovered. Will this be yet another Gold Medal for Team GB?

:10:04.:10:15.

COMMENTATOR: Final moments of introspection for Nicola Adams.

:10:16.:10:21.

Final moments of instruction from Dave, Harcourt, in the red corner.

:10:22.:10:26.

Nicola Adams looking to join a short list of Olympic auxin legends taking

:10:27.:10:30.

a brace of titles in the boxing ring. -- Olympic boxing legends.

:10:31.:10:42.

Representing Great Britain, Nicola Adams.

:10:43.:10:54.

Introducing, the boxer in the blue corner, representing France... Sarah

:10:55.:11:03.

Ourahmoune. Head up, no low blows. Shake hands

:11:04.:11:27.

and good luck. But that touch of God, this Olympic gold-medal bout

:11:28.:11:31.

about to get underway. -- touch of clubs.

:11:32.:11:37.

Here we go. The first of a scheduled four two minute rounds in the 51

:11:38.:11:44.

kilograms flyweight final is being contested between boxers from France

:11:45.:11:48.

and Great Britain. The boxer in dread is looking to score with that

:11:49.:11:53.

educated left hand, Nicola Adams, the reigning Olympic champion from

:11:54.:11:56.

London. The reigning world champion from Kazakhstan earlier this year.

:11:57.:12:01.

Opponent in blue is Sarah Ourahmoune, ranked 15th in the world

:12:02.:12:06.

and she comes in as a bronze medal from the World Championship having

:12:07.:12:10.

taking silver at the 48 kilograms weight in 2008. Anticipating your

:12:11.:12:15.

opponent's tactics is crucial in any match in this tournament. Nicola

:12:16.:12:21.

Adams will be expecting a comfortable win on the front foot.

:12:22.:12:26.

She is the shorter boxer, the French girl, so she will try to get inside

:12:27.:12:30.

Nicola Adams and force the pace. Nice little right hand over the top.

:12:31.:12:34.

Nicola Adams has to be accurate with the jab. She has to keep her

:12:35.:12:38.

opponent at distance, backend that lead hand. If she can do that, she

:12:39.:12:45.

will not have any real problems. This is the Olympic final so it will

:12:46.:12:50.

put an extra 10-20% on your opponent's performance. Expect Sarah

:12:51.:12:54.

Ourahmoune to come quickly on that front. Nicola Adams has targeted

:12:55.:13:01.

both the head and the body from the left and right flanks. Cracking

:13:02.:13:06.

right hand from Sarah Ourahmoune as she got inside the longer reach of

:13:07.:13:10.

the boxer in red. These two women have met four times before prior to

:13:11.:13:15.

this final. Nicola Adams has been victorious in all four of the

:13:16.:13:22.

contests. She needs to get her time in better. Sarah Ourahmoune is

:13:23.:13:25.

coming forward. She is targeting the right hand. She has to measure with

:13:26.:13:29.

the jab and bring her on to the right uppercut. She has to improve

:13:30.:13:40.

her accuracy, Nicola Adams. Nicola Adams starting briskly in the

:13:41.:13:44.

opening round, scoring to both body and head. Let us see if we can

:13:45.:13:52.

listen in to the red corner. Sharp 12, jab. Take guard. Overhand right.

:13:53.:13:59.

The court saying that the jab is the key. Sarah Ourahmoune is looking for

:14:00.:14:05.

the overhand right. He wants an accurate punch with the left hand.

:14:06.:14:10.

To keep the opponent off balance, one of the jobs that are jab does as

:14:11.:14:15.

well as scoring points. These are the scores. Across the board for

:14:16.:14:19.

Adams. She needs to keep it going. The left-hander is crucial.

:14:20.:14:37.

Into the second round. Nicola Adams sweeping the opening round

:14:38.:14:47.

unanimously, 10-9 from all three judges. Five judges are seated

:14:48.:14:51.

ringside and chosen randomly before the opening bell and those cores are

:14:52.:14:54.

used to determine the outcome of each fight. -- those scores. Nicola

:14:55.:15:02.

Adams showing her talents. She is boxing well on the outside but she

:15:03.:15:08.

can rough it up on the inside. That is why she is Olympic champion, she

:15:09.:15:17.

can mix it when she needs to. She will have to. This French opponent

:15:18.:15:21.

will be determined. Again Adams comes back with the better work.

:15:22.:15:26.

Terrific variety being shown by Adams. She started the round on the

:15:27.:15:30.

back foot, on the perimeter of the ring, then changing the tactics and

:15:31.:15:34.

getting onto the front foot and driving Sarah Ourahmoune backwards.

:15:35.:15:41.

Sarah Ourahmoune facing a difficult has to try to get inside the longer

:15:42.:15:46.

arms and disrupt the timing being demonstrated by the boxer in red. I

:15:47.:15:51.

spoke about that right uppercut in the first round and she delivered a

:15:52.:15:56.

lovely shot, Adams, to the midsection. Lovely one-two. The

:15:57.:16:01.

accuracy is better from Adams. It is difficult to get to her if she hits

:16:02.:16:05.

you at long range. Difficult for Sarah Ourahmoune to close the gap

:16:06.:16:08.

down. That is why the accuracy is spot on at the moment from Adams.

:16:09.:16:17.

A difficult task for Ourahmoune, Adams retreating beyond punching

:16:18.:16:24.

distance. She will have a sense that she has conceded the opening round,

:16:25.:16:29.

wonderful 1-2 from Adams, who was finding her rhythm and timing

:16:30.:16:35.

wonderfully in this gold medal bout. So Ourahmoune with only sporadic

:16:36.:16:39.

success once again, Nicola Adams picking her punches wonderfully

:16:40.:16:41.

throughout the course of that second round.

:16:42.:16:48.

So halfway to a gold medal, happy with the way things have gone so

:16:49.:16:53.

far? Most definitely, in the first round I think she was down three

:16:54.:16:57.

points, I will keep it real, two phenomenal fighters, it is close,

:16:58.:17:01.

but what I'm saying is that the French lady's boxing in

:17:02.:17:04.

combinations, so she will wait, have spurt. I would say that Nicki is

:17:05.:17:16.

keeping busy, and I think that is what the judges like - someone who

:17:17.:17:25.

counterpunches. Four rounds of two minutes, hopefully she will be even

:17:26.:17:27.

and can start taking the lead now. Round three. Two rounds completed,

:17:28.:17:42.

two to go, and both of the completed rounds have been scored in favour of

:17:43.:17:46.

the reigning Olympic champion, Nicola Adams, who has devastated the

:17:47.:17:52.

greater variety, and superior ringcraft. But expect Ourahmoune to

:17:53.:17:57.

pretty soon adopt an all or nothing approach in her efforts to get onto

:17:58.:18:01.

the top spot of the Olympic medal podium. You said it, tactics predict

:18:02.:18:07.

from the French boxer, she will come forward. Nicki has to keep on the

:18:08.:18:14.

end of the jab, just to beat. Ourahmoune, going forward, has got

:18:15.:18:19.

to move her head, try to work downstairs with Nicola. If Nicki

:18:20.:18:26.

Adams is boxing in the ring, she can be difficult to get to, she has got

:18:27.:18:30.

a full range of movement. Ourahmoune has got to try to move back to the

:18:31.:18:38.

ropes for success. Adams continuing to work with the left jab,

:18:39.:18:43.

Ourahmoune getting closer with the parking punches, as she made Nicola

:18:44.:18:46.

Adams fall short. Ourahmoune one of two women on the French boxing team,

:18:47.:18:53.

along with eight men, her female counterpart claimed gold yesterday

:18:54.:18:57.

in the lightweight category, 60 kilograms. How much inspiration will

:18:58.:19:00.

Ourahmoune take from that as she looks to overturn a two points

:19:01.:19:06.

deficit on all three scorecards. Good left jab from Ourahmoune.

:19:07.:19:16.

Ourahmoune is having slight success here and there, but Adams just put

:19:17.:19:22.

her in her place, got on the back foot. Occasionally, you see Nicki

:19:23.:19:25.

Adams holding her feet, prepared to stand and trade a little bit. As I

:19:26.:19:31.

said before, Adams on the outside, this is a good performance again

:19:32.:19:39.

from Adams. So more success for the boxer in blue, but Nicola Adams

:19:40.:19:44.

continuing to land at catching straight punches. Plenty of support

:19:45.:19:48.

in attendance for the British boxer. All appears calm over in the red

:19:49.:19:55.

corner. Some good stuff from Adams, that is a nice shot, Ourahmoune did

:19:56.:20:00.

have some success, right hand was not too far away. Adams

:20:01.:20:03.

counterattacking, beating her opponent to the bunch, stepping

:20:04.:20:11.

inside, good right hand. Princeton -- she's going to have to box the

:20:12.:20:15.

contest of her life, she will have to either knock Adams out or

:20:16.:20:19.

four-day stoppage, which is going to be very difficult. So Ourahmoune

:20:20.:20:24.

with that increased success has swept round three across the, just

:20:25.:20:30.

one point in it, Adams in front 29-28 for all three judges. So into

:20:31.:20:39.

the fourth and final round of his gold medal bout in the 51 kilograms

:20:40.:20:45.

flyweight division, and Nicola Adams has conceded the round that has just

:20:46.:20:49.

preceded this one, and Ourahmoune has taken inspiration from that and

:20:50.:20:52.

has come out in aggressive mood to begin this fourth and final round,

:20:53.:20:56.

landing effectively with the right hand. Given the status of the

:20:57.:21:01.

contest, Adams cannot afford to box protect a lead, and that is why it

:21:02.:21:06.

changes, not tidy, but the exchange is close to the ropes. Adams has got

:21:07.:21:11.

to get back to medium and long range, that is a strength. We said

:21:12.:21:16.

she was an all-rounder, but that is her strength, on the outside. Good

:21:17.:21:20.

straight shot from Adams, that is what you has got to do, hit the

:21:21.:21:25.

opponent as she guns, concentrate and get the accurate shots, made too

:21:26.:21:30.

long, rather than on the inside. The referee allowing the boxes to work

:21:31.:21:35.

away at close range, perhaps worth pointing out that she had an 11 day

:21:36.:21:40.

wait to get her Olympic campaign under way. She did they'd notably in

:21:41.:21:47.

the fourth and final round, but still won convincingly against the

:21:48.:21:52.

Ukrainian. -- she did fade. Cannot afford a similar fate here, this is

:21:53.:21:58.

a third contest, all her experience being put to the test, Ourahmoune

:21:59.:22:02.

trying to work away at close range. Nicky Adams just making a mistake,

:22:03.:22:07.

after she has landed a shot, she falls into her opponent, and

:22:08.:22:10.

Ourahmoune wants to work at close range. Three four from the French

:22:11.:22:16.

boxer, Adams has got to start using that right hook, adjust the beat,

:22:17.:22:20.

bring her opponent onto the shots, but she has got to compete. Both

:22:21.:22:25.

boxers skilfully extracting the best from one another, into the fourth

:22:26.:22:32.

and final round, who can produce the final moment of quality? Cracking

:22:33.:22:37.

right hand from Ourahmoune. Incredibly tight gold medal bout

:22:38.:22:42.

between two familiar rivals. At the end of the third round, Nicola Adams

:22:43.:22:48.

led by one for all three judges, and Ourahmoune mounted a spirited rally

:22:49.:22:52.

in the fourth and final round. It is incredibly tight, what do the judges

:22:53.:22:57.

prefer? How will let's cool that final two minutes? It was tough, it

:22:58.:23:05.

was close. -- how will they score. I think she just did enough to win

:23:06.:23:09.

that last round, Ourahmoune was on the front foot, forcing it, but she

:23:10.:23:14.

worked better on the inside, Adams better at mid and long. Very close,

:23:15.:23:21.

but I think Nicola Adams did enough, eye-catching quality work, and that

:23:22.:23:27.

will hopefully see her through. Nervous moments for both of the

:23:28.:23:33.

boxers now. Incredibly keenly contested affair for Olympic gold.

:23:34.:23:38.

Who's hand will be raised? Who will be declared as Olympic champion? --

:23:39.:23:50.

whose. Ladies and gentlemen, the winner by unanimous decision and

:23:51.:23:51.

Olympic champion... In the red corner, Nicola Adams!

:23:52.:24:12.

Nicola Adams lets out a triumphant roar, having been crowned as Olympic

:24:13.:24:17.

champion for the second successive time! She joins an exclusive club,

:24:18.:24:23.

reserved only for boxers with impeccable Olympic credentials, a

:24:24.:24:27.

fantastic performance to edge her name or indelibly into the annals of

:24:28.:24:31.

Olympic boxing history by becoming the first woman to win two Olympic

:24:32.:24:37.

titles in the boxing ring. The Adams shovel in evidence, shadow-boxing

:24:38.:24:43.

beneath the ring lights, she is elated, she has emulated the

:24:44.:24:53.

achievements of the boxer in 1920 and 1924. Absolutely sensational

:24:54.:24:58.

performance, and now she can add her name to the list of luminaries that

:24:59.:25:04.

includes five Cubans, and outstanding legends of the game, so

:25:05.:25:12.

many more throughout the years. It is a short list, and Nicola Adams

:25:13.:25:17.

has just added her name to it, posing triumphantly with Gary and

:25:18.:25:24.

David, and how much credit did they deserve for guiding and instructing

:25:25.:25:28.

Nicola Adams through to her second successive Olympic crown? It is

:25:29.:25:31.

Nicola Adams who had to perform the need the ring lights and execute

:25:32.:25:35.

those instructions, and she has done so to perfection to claim her second

:25:36.:25:40.

successive Olympic title and join the ranks of the Olympic boxing

:25:41.:25:41.

immortals. And here comes Nicola Adams! Just

:25:42.:25:54.

getting her accreditation put around her neck, we are allowed a very

:25:55.:25:58.

quick chat with the Olympic boxing champion for the second time, many,

:25:59.:26:05.

many congratulations! A hug from Anthony Joshua, well done, the gold

:26:06.:26:09.

rush continues. The gold rush continues, I cannot believe it, I'm

:26:10.:26:12.

officially the most accomplished amateur boxer we have ever had, like

:26:13.:26:17.

ever, and it is such an amazing feeling. I would just like to say

:26:18.:26:20.

thank you to everybody that has supported me, my mum, my brother,

:26:21.:26:24.

happy birthday to my coach's daughter. Thank you for all the hard

:26:25.:26:30.

work you have put in over the years. We made it! The hard work that you

:26:31.:26:35.

put in, can you compare that with London? Yeah, definitely, it is well

:26:36.:26:40.

up there. I would probably say they are both on the same level, it takes

:26:41.:26:44.

a lot to win an Olympic medal, especially to be able to do it

:26:45.:26:49.

twice. I would like to thank everybody, the coaching staff,

:26:50.:26:53.

everyone. Talking about everyone, it is almost the end of the Olympic

:26:54.:26:57.

Games, and you have watched hours of television with Great Britain

:26:58.:27:00.

winning medals all over the place, how much was that an inspiration to

:27:01.:27:06.

you as well? Oh, yeah, definitely, especially seeing Mo Farah fall

:27:07.:27:10.

down, get up, show determination to win his gold medal. You are on that

:27:11.:27:14.

podium again very shortly, we will talk to you later on. Well done,

:27:15.:27:22.

Nicola, fantastic. I think the protocol, we are rushing

:27:23.:27:28.

through it, we had better have a quick chat, Anthony, how worried

:27:29.:27:32.

were you? The French girl came back in the third round, and the fourth

:27:33.:27:36.

round was a bit nip and tuck. She'd done what we expected, Nicki was the

:27:37.:27:46.

counterpuncher, keeping busy, being patient, picking her shots wisely,

:27:47.:27:49.

but snow fight in yelling that final is going to be easy, you know? The

:27:50.:27:57.

margins, two of the most elite boxers in the ring together, it was

:27:58.:28:00.

a very good fight, and I'm really happy with Nicki, the most decorated

:28:01.:28:05.

amateur we have ever had. You can probably hear there is a stupendous

:28:06.:28:08.

atmosphere for the next bout, which is the men's bantamweight final, and

:28:09.:28:14.

going back heaven knows how many generations, the USA against Cuba,

:28:15.:28:18.

there is something very special about this rivalry, historically,

:28:19.:28:22.

politically and everything else. Amazingly, the USA have not won in

:28:23.:28:27.

amateur boxing for three Olympiads, since Athens. So it is Stevenson who

:28:28.:28:34.

will break that right? This could be the fight of the whole event.

:28:35.:28:44.

COMMENTATOR: What the matchup we have. The long-standing Olympic

:28:45.:28:49.

boxing rivalry between Cuba and the USA.

:28:50.:29:05.

REFEREE: You know the rules, keep your heads up and your punches up.

:29:06.:29:11.

Protect cells at all times. Shake hands and luck. The referee is

:29:12.:29:16.

Darren McFarlane with the final instructions. An excerpt -- an

:29:17.:29:24.

exhilarating bantamweight bout between boxers from the USA and

:29:25.:29:30.

Cuba. Here we go. The 56 kilograms bantamweight final is being

:29:31.:29:35.

contested between boxers from the USA and Cuba, the first gold-medal

:29:36.:29:40.

bout featuring boxers from these nations since Atlanta, 1996. The man

:29:41.:29:50.

in the front foot, the southpaw, is Robeisy Ramirez. He is the reigning

:29:51.:29:54.

Olympic champion from the 52 kilograms flyweight division four

:29:55.:29:58.

years ago in London. The man in red, also a southpaw, Shakur Stevenson,

:29:59.:30:04.

19 years of age and the number four seed in the tournament. He is yet to

:30:05.:30:10.

lose in Olympic competition. It is a fantastic matchup between two

:30:11.:30:18.

skilful operators. Two boxers with similar ability. Both are southpaw

:30:19.:30:22.

is what speed. They also have a great jab. The lead hand for each

:30:23.:30:30.

boxer is the strength. Robeisy Ramirez has started better and put

:30:31.:30:34.

his opponent on the back foot 2-3 times. This Cuban has got the jab of

:30:35.:30:40.

the tournament and a successful with that lead, the basic of all shots.

:30:41.:30:46.

He sets matter up with the back can very well after the jab has landed.

:30:47.:30:52.

His opponent is similar, fast hands, this American. He has a low lead

:30:53.:30:58.

hand so he is vulnerable to a left hand over the top against a southpaw

:30:59.:31:02.

opponent. It will shape up to be a cracker, this one. Shakur Stevenson

:31:03.:31:11.

is still only 19 and was the 20 13th male boxer of the year. He comes in

:31:12.:31:14.

as a reigning world youth championship gold man -- red list

:31:15.:31:19.

and reigning junior Olympic champion. Robeisy Ramirez got the

:31:20.:31:26.

same titles back in 2010. That gives you the idea of how both men had

:31:27.:31:30.

maybe seamless transition from the injury drags to the seniors. Robeisy

:31:31.:31:36.

Ramirez looking to put his great experience into play. It is a new

:31:37.:31:45.

experience for the man in red to be dating somebody this talented. -- to

:31:46.:31:52.

be facing. Shakur Stevenson is waiting to long. The Cuban has the

:31:53.:31:58.

tactics spot on, keeping the opponent on the back foot. Stevenson

:31:59.:32:03.

is quick. He has been beaten to the punch. The Cuban has got more

:32:04.:32:09.

propriety to stop he can manoeuvre with his feet and is moving his

:32:10.:32:10.

head. -- got more bird rioted. Ten seconds to go. Both men are

:32:11.:32:20.

taught at all. I think that will please the score.

:32:21.:32:41.

He has started the contest well on that front foot. The double jab

:32:42.:32:54.

sends his opponent backwards. He just misses with that shot. The

:32:55.:32:59.

Cuban is tricky. He is good on his feet. He has fast hands. Good on the

:33:00.:33:05.

inside as well, Robeisy Ramirez. He demonstrated it there. Shakur

:33:06.:33:10.

Stevenson got cot with some shots. This is boxing I am afraid. Let us

:33:11.:33:15.

look at the scores. Across the board for the Cuban. That is good judging.

:33:16.:33:24.

REFEREE: Watch your heads, keep your heads up. Into the second round.

:33:25.:33:33.

Shakur Stevenson came out of the blocks. Defeat came together

:33:34.:33:38.

momentarily but he used his instincts to get back out of

:33:39.:33:43.

Puncheon Grange. He conceded the opening round across the board. --

:33:44.:33:51.

out of punching range. He keeps smiling now and again when he is

:33:52.:33:55.

caught with big shots. He should be concentrating more. He is crabby on

:33:56.:34:02.

the inside. Robeisy Ramirez does the better work on the inside. Shakur

:34:03.:34:11.

Stevenson has been in the company of Floyd Mayweather January, -- Floyd

:34:12.:34:18.

Mayweather Junior, the money man. He had that incredible record as a

:34:19.:34:21.

professional and he wants this man in red to be the face of Money

:34:22.:34:27.

Promotions for years to come. Back one has not decided what his future

:34:28.:34:33.

holds. He is time to get Olympic gold. He is against a reigning

:34:34.:34:36.

champion from London four years ago. Shakur Stevenson decided to box

:34:37.:34:49.

behind both hands, momentarily. Cracking left hand from Stevenson.

:34:50.:35:07.

Both boxers are more circumspect in this round. Stevenson looking to

:35:08.:35:11.

overturn the one-point deficit that he faces after the first round from

:35:12.:35:20.

all three judges. Robeisy Ramirez, on occasion, he can get his

:35:21.:35:24.

opponents and opportunity. He does elect to hold his feet and weight,

:35:25.:35:29.

and cover-up to block and repel blows without letting his own off in

:35:30.:35:34.

school. His approach is better. His movement with defeat is good. The

:35:35.:35:38.

way that he adjusted his feet. Also the movement from the waist, Robeisy

:35:39.:35:42.

Ramirez. Better shot from Stevenson. He is getting into the contest now.

:35:43.:35:50.

So much thought behind each one of these attempted attacks from both

:35:51.:35:54.

boxers. Look at how they are both being made to mess. They are being

:35:55.:35:58.

as cautious and thoughtful as they are because a mistake at this level

:35:59.:36:03.

will be capitalised on instantly. Good two shot salvo to the body from

:36:04.:36:12.

Stevenson. Those men standing flat-footed even though they are

:36:13.:36:14.

wonderful movers around the boxing ring. Studying one another, looking

:36:15.:36:20.

to find that opening, to find a home for their punches.

:36:21.:36:26.

More success in that round for the man in red. How will the judges see

:36:27.:36:34.

it? Little bit better from Stevenson. Especially that

:36:35.:36:39.

last-minute. He is getting to grips with it. He is struggling with the

:36:40.:36:43.

movement of Robeisy Ramirez, the movement from his waist. He had more

:36:44.:36:52.

success on the inside, Stevenson. This is the movement from Robeisy

:36:53.:36:55.

Ramirez. He is clipped on the way out. His approach with that bit of

:36:56.:37:00.

movement from the waist, it gets him out of trouble. He is a talented

:37:01.:37:10.

man. Let us look at the scores. Stevenson across the border. It was

:37:11.:37:16.

a better round. We are in for one hell of a last round.

:37:17.:37:29.

This 56 kilograms bantamweight gold-medal bout has came down to a

:37:30.:37:36.

three minute shoot out. The man in blue, Robeisy Ramirez, the reigning

:37:37.:37:41.

Olympic champion at 52 kilograms from London, took the opening round

:37:42.:37:46.

3-0. Stevenson responded magnificently to take the second

:37:47.:37:50.

round by the same margin. We are tied up 19-19 from all judges. This

:37:51.:37:55.

gold-medal bout has came down to this. Terrific way to jab from

:37:56.:37:59.

Robeisy Ramirez. Robeisy Ramirez knows he had a bad second round and

:38:00.:38:05.

is raising the tempo. Can Stevenson go with him? He will go through the

:38:06.:38:10.

gears. We have seen it many times by the Cubans. A burst of acceleration.

:38:11.:38:19.

An injection of speed. Stevenson himself is a very fast operator.

:38:20.:38:25.

This last round, who can find the quality punches, who can raise their

:38:26.:38:32.

game? Shakur Stevenson, looking to become the first US man to claim

:38:33.:38:39.

gold in a senior Olympic tournament since Andre Ward, the self-styled

:38:40.:38:42.

son of God who is undefeated in the professional ranks.

:38:43.:38:54.

In Shakur Stevenson, they have got a very bright prospect indeed. In this

:38:55.:39:02.

type of contest, it is very close. We have to be able to push the

:39:03.:39:06.

opponent back. This is the last round and you have to leave an

:39:07.:39:09.

impression in the mind of the judges. The fighter on the front

:39:10.:39:12.

foot will win the contest. You have to get that through to your boxer.

:39:13.:39:16.

It is Robeisy Ramirez on the front foot, doing the better work. This

:39:17.:39:22.

American has to despond. He has two races game and pushed the Cuban back

:39:23.:39:26.

if he is to be the winner. Robeisy Ramirez at there is winning the

:39:27.:39:29.

round because of that front foot Peche. The left hand from Stevenson

:39:30.:39:34.

was good and then he got a long straight right to the body. Good jab

:39:35.:39:44.

again. Effective punch backing from Stevenson who looks at his red

:39:45.:39:47.

corner, deep inside this third round. Robeisy Ramirez again made to

:39:48.:39:55.

Ms. He is the Olympic champion from 2012 and he has the speeding is.

:39:56.:39:59.

That is why he is going for it. Stevenson has to rally with them.

:40:00.:40:04.

The crew to attempting to go through the gears. Stevenson is looking to

:40:05.:40:11.

tie up his man. Terrific three shot salvo from Stevenson. The final

:40:12.:40:14.

right hook to the body was a good shot. Last ten seconds. Who can

:40:15.:40:20.

produce the grandstand finish? What a contest we have witnessed.

:40:21.:40:33.

Both men displaying immense concentration. So focused, they made

:40:34.:40:48.

a laser beam look like a nightly. -- night-light. It was all tied after

:40:49.:40:53.

two. The last round was tense. It was a classic case of experience

:40:54.:40:56.

that got Robeisy Ramirez over the line. That was my opinion. He did

:40:57.:41:03.

the better work on the front foot. This American, Shakur Stevenson, he

:41:04.:41:07.

is a talent. He was speaking to Floyd Mayweather before the contest.

:41:08.:41:11.

He needed to box better for me. The body language from both boxers

:41:12.:41:16.

suggested that Robeisy Ramirez knows that the hazard and I think he boxed

:41:17.:41:19.

better in the last round. We shall see.

:41:20.:41:36.

Ladies and gentlemen, the winner by split decision and the Olympic

:41:37.:41:43.

champion... In the blue corner, Shakur

:41:44.:42:06.

Stevenson. -- 42. -- Robeisy Ramirez. Robeisy Ramirez just

:42:07.:42:13.

becomes the first man to win medals at bantamweight and flyweight. What

:42:14.:42:18.

a wonderful accomplishment. Shakur Stevenson experiences a loss for the

:42:19.:42:21.

first time in Olympic competition. He is just 19 years of age. Whether

:42:22.:42:27.

at the Olympic boxing ranks of in the professional ranks, we are sure

:42:28.:42:31.

to see this man again. This moment belongs to Robeisy Ramirez who joins

:42:32.:42:35.

the five other Cubans who can claim two gold medals in the boxing ring.

:42:36.:42:40.

A wonderful accomplishment. Robeisy Ramirez is the bantamweight

:42:41.:42:41.

champion. That was a flamboyant celebration at

:42:42.:42:52.

the end of a fantastic fight. The energy here is unbelievable. There

:42:53.:42:56.

is a long has to be between Cuba and the USA. I liked to see all of that

:42:57.:43:02.

passion and build-up over the last 20 years was displayed. There was so

:43:03.:43:08.

much technique between the two. Phenomenal fighters and they are so

:43:09.:43:12.

young. They will be excellent because they have got the job --

:43:13.:43:17.

long career to develop. The legacy of the boxing in Cuba, he will be a

:43:18.:43:23.

national hero. The already national heroes due to the fact of Fidel

:43:24.:43:26.

Castro invested so much time in sport. This is the first time the

:43:27.:43:32.

USA and Cuba have boxed in over 20 years. I want to see more of these

:43:33.:43:38.

competitions. This is country versus country, this is the Olympics.

:43:39.:43:43.

Everyone has to witness this fight. I am glad you did. It was a great

:43:44.:43:50.

contest. Come back in a few moments time for the gold-medal winning

:43:51.:43:53.

smile to end all gold-medal moving smiles from Nicola Adams.

:43:54.:43:56.

It was a fabulous moment will stop another Gold Medal. Let us look at

:43:57.:44:07.

the table. Britain moving ahead of China. United States out in front

:44:08.:44:14.

with 39 gold and 106 in total. 26 gold medals for Great Britain and 63

:44:15.:44:21.

in total, two away... It is extraordinary. We are getting so

:44:22.:44:24.

close to the greatest ever Olympic Games for British athletes which is

:44:25.:44:28.

quite something. 9 million of you tuned in last night to watch Great

:44:29.:44:32.

Britain's women try to win a hockey gold medal for the first time. They

:44:33.:44:36.

were up against the two-time reigning champions was the

:44:37.:44:39.

Netherlands. If you think watching at home was tense, what about being

:44:40.:44:41.

in the stands? We are ready here for blood, sweat

:44:42.:44:52.

and tears one way or the other. Hold tight, here we go!

:44:53.:44:59.

The gold medal on the line, it has been intercepted by the Netherlands,

:45:00.:45:07.

penalty stroke for the Dutch. Oh, it has been saved, Hinch to the rescue,

:45:08.:45:16.

what a start for the Great Britain goalkeeper! Helen Richardson-Walsh

:45:17.:45:19.

in the centre of the circle, off the legs, and this time it is scored,

:45:20.:45:23.

Great Britain are in front, Lily Owsley strikes. We know Holland is

:45:24.:45:32.

normally school, make sure we keep them out, this is our day. -- score.

:45:33.:45:38.

The Dutch are inside the circle, inches out, the angle, it is a goal.

:45:39.:45:48.

Hit, it is a goal for the Netherlands, 2-1 in front.

:45:49.:45:54.

Great Britain on a rare attack. Now a chance for Cullen, Cullen has

:45:55.:46:03.

scored! Crista Cullen brings Great Britain level! I have been here 12

:46:04.:46:10.

hours. Yeah, we wouldn't miss the final. That gold medal is not going

:46:11.:46:16.

to come easy for any side, all credit to the girls, they are

:46:17.:46:23.

working very hard. This time they strike, and the Dutch lead. I think

:46:24.:46:32.

we just need to get the ball up into the 25, we can be really dangerous.

:46:33.:46:37.

And now they have an opportunity, push forward, and score! Great

:46:38.:46:43.

Britain level! Adages Nicola White on the far post. -- and it is. Four,

:46:44.:46:54.

three, two, one! The gold medal game is going to a penalty shoot out. I

:46:55.:47:00.

have faith in this team, Maddie Hinch can do it, I have so much

:47:01.:47:05.

confidence in this team, and so do these guys. Let's go, GB, let's go!

:47:06.:47:14.

Lets go, GB, let's go! First penalty of the shoot out, Helen

:47:15.:47:16.

Richardson-Walsh on her way, holds it up. Saved and behind.

:47:17.:47:30.

Bos versus Hinch, Maddie Hinch, absolutely brilliant! Bray brought

:47:31.:47:38.

down, penalty stroke. Helen Richardson-Walsh scores, Great

:47:39.:47:44.

Britain are off the mark in the shoot out! Hinch pushes it away.

:47:45.:47:55.

Watching it every step of the way, she has missed. Hollie Webb scores.

:47:56.:48:03.

Hollie Webb on her way to win gold for Great Britain. She turns and

:48:04.:48:13.

scores, it is the golden goal, Great Britain have won the Olympic gold

:48:14.:48:15.

medal! I am just bursting with pride, I was

:48:16.:48:38.

very confident, but without Hollie Webb...! I just tried to block out

:48:39.:48:42.

what it was, the occasion, yeah, just did my job. And now the

:48:43.:48:49.

captain. Retiring after this Olympics, a gold medal, how can you

:48:50.:48:57.

finish in anything better than that? We said we wanted to create history

:48:58.:49:01.

and inspire the future, and we have done that tonight.

:49:02.:49:10.

The whole squad here with the gold medals around their neck, all of

:49:11.:49:13.

them watching pictures from the final for the first time, just

:49:14.:49:18.

extraordinary, amazing scenes, and for most of them the first time they

:49:19.:49:23.

have seen friends and family in the crowds, and their reactions,

:49:24.:49:26.

laughing at themselves, but really emotional, they deserve every

:49:27.:49:30.

plaudit, every single one of them making a contribution to, I think,

:49:31.:49:36.

one of the greatest results ever in team sports, and Kate

:49:37.:49:46.

Richardson-Walsh was captain, has been for the last 13 years, you will

:49:47.:49:48.

have to start having flashbacks about your whole career. I cannot

:49:49.:49:51.

believe you have showed that video and then expect me to speak! That

:49:52.:49:57.

video had all the ups and downs of my career, coming back from

:49:58.:50:00.

adversity, this squad are unbelievable, so proud of every

:50:01.:50:05.

single one of them. If you could put it down to one thing, what have you

:50:06.:50:10.

got as a team? It is not just the 16 here, it was the 19, and then the

:50:11.:50:16.

31, the squad culture, off the back of London, building that thanks to

:50:17.:50:20.

the national lottery, allowing us to train full-time as professional

:50:21.:50:35.

athletes, and that is the culmination. This beautiful medal is

:50:36.:50:39.

worth all of the hard work, the sweat, the tears and blood, yeah.

:50:40.:50:41.

Talking of the blood actually, Crista Cullen, the warrior, you

:50:42.:50:43.

essentially scored and came out over retirement to play with this lot.

:50:44.:50:46.

Amazing, so chuffed, four years ago when I retired, I thought that was

:50:47.:50:50.

it, then I decided, having watched these girls in the European Cup

:50:51.:50:54.

Final, beating the Dutch in that emphatic win, I thought, why

:50:55.:51:00.

wouldn't I give it a try? Does that still hurt? Or do you shake it off?

:51:01.:51:05.

I am no different to any other hockey player, had a few stitches,

:51:06.:51:10.

came back on, did what the team needed. That was so impressive to

:51:11.:51:14.

the people who tuned in, 9 million, the way you take a bash then come

:51:15.:51:19.

back up. The most popular goalkeeper in British sport, Maddie Hinch,

:51:20.:51:24.

logos, penalties, great! I absolutely love them, for a

:51:25.:51:28.

goalkeeper it is a chance to do your bit for the team, why not enjoy it

:51:29.:51:35.

and make the most of a vice we can have another look at it, nothing got

:51:36.:51:42.

by you, except the one that came off the post. The post is part of me, in

:51:43.:51:48.

my opinion! That was a special one for me, I was coming and going, the

:51:49.:51:53.

girls coming and going, taking the penalties as well, massive team

:51:54.:51:57.

effort. I know you gave up chocolate as part of your sacrifice to get to

:51:58.:52:01.

the Olympics, have you had any? I had my first piece this morning, it

:52:02.:52:07.

was magical! You deserved it. In a penalty shoot out, you need people

:52:08.:52:10.

who are going to score, Hollie Webb, did you know what you were going to

:52:11.:52:15.

do? We had done our homework as well, I spoke to Maddie, about what

:52:16.:52:21.

would work against their keeper, so going into it, I knew what I would

:52:22.:52:28.

do, I had a plan. You can talk us through what you were thinking, you

:52:29.:52:32.

knew this would win the gold medal. I am thinking I am up at Bisham

:52:33.:52:36.

Abbey on the training pitch with no-one around, that is what is going

:52:37.:52:42.

through my head. Then from this moment, there is nothing in my head,

:52:43.:52:45.

I don't really know what is going on! But yeah, I cannot really tell

:52:46.:52:51.

you from then onwards. It was a terrific moment, and the man who

:52:52.:52:55.

masterminded it is Danny Kerry, incredibly proud of this lot, and

:52:56.:52:59.

maybe you can sum up better than they can what this means to hockey.

:53:00.:53:05.

I am really optimistic it will be transformational. After London, we

:53:06.:53:09.

had a massive spike in numbers of people playing our very inclusive,

:53:10.:53:14.

beautiful sport, and I hope it will do it again. I think it shows their

:53:15.:53:19.

resilience, but also their concentration, you refused to let

:53:20.:53:22.

them get emotional until it was over. Looks can be deceiving, we

:53:23.:53:27.

were all a bit emotional inside, but we train for these moments, we have

:53:28.:53:31.

worked hard for these moments, and I think credit to them, they stayed

:53:32.:53:37.

focused through 14 days of competition, eight matches,

:53:38.:53:41.

absolutely sensational. Unbeaten, eight out of eight, some

:53:42.:53:49.

of you are heading to Holland, you may not get the most welcome

:53:50.:53:51.

reception there! We will have bragging rights, that is all that

:53:52.:53:54.

matters. How will you look back on these Olympics? With so many fond

:53:55.:53:58.

memories, such a special group, and what we have done is incredible, all

:53:59.:54:02.

the hard work that we have put in over many years has paid off, and to

:54:03.:54:08.

be walking away as Olympic champion... Talking about coming

:54:09.:54:12.

back from injury, your leg did not look great in the semifinal. No, and

:54:13.:54:18.

48 hours after that game, not the best, to be honest, but I was

:54:19.:54:23.

pleased to be doing my bit for the team. Kate has said it is her last

:54:24.:54:28.

international as captain, what about you? It is something I have been

:54:29.:54:32.

thinking about over the last few months, and I am not necessarily

:54:33.:54:36.

saying for definite, but I will not be able to beat this, I'm pretty

:54:37.:54:40.

sure this will be my last game, bowing out as Olympic champion, you

:54:41.:54:45.

cannot beat that. You really cannot, congratulations to all of you on

:54:46.:54:49.

behalf of everyone walking at home, our victorious hockey squad, the

:54:50.:54:54.

first woman to win a hockey gold medal, it is magnificent. The

:54:55.:54:58.

highlight of women's sport keep coming, Nicola Adams has

:54:59.:55:01.

successfully defended her title, and her medal ceremony is coming out

:55:02.:55:08.

now. So Valencia of Columbia won two gold

:55:09.:55:15.

medals, leading to the Pan Am games bronze that she won. Representing

:55:16.:55:22.

the people's Republic of China... So Ren steps up onto the Olympic

:55:23.:55:41.

medal podium for the second successive games, she came away with

:55:42.:55:46.

silver after losing in the epic gold medal bout against Nicola Adams,

:55:47.:55:51.

this time they met at the gold medal stage, and Adams prevailed yet again

:55:52.:56:03.

on the Olympic stage. Rent -- Ren Cancan receives her second Olympic

:56:04.:56:07.

medal in the women's 51 kilograms lightweight tournament.

:56:08.:56:27.

Silver medallist, representing France... Sarah Ourahmoune of

:56:28.:56:49.

France, the 34-year-old claims her first Olympic medal, reigning World

:56:50.:56:52.

Championship bronze medallist comes away with silver here at the 2016

:56:53.:56:58.

Olympic Games, and she competed with everything that she had as she took

:56:59.:57:04.

Olympic gold, and incredibly tight, often uncomfortable encounter for

:57:05.:57:08.

Nicola Adams. Once again, the fifth meeting between those two familiar

:57:09.:57:14.

adversaries, Nicola Adams prevailed, Sarah Ourahmoune continues France's

:57:15.:57:19.

brilliant boxing tournament here at Rio, claiming silver. The gold

:57:20.:57:31.

medallist and Olympic champion, representing Great Britain... Nicola

:57:32.:57:42.

Adams! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:57:43.:57:50.

One of the most electrifying smiles in all of sport, beaming from ear to

:57:51.:57:55.

ear, an acknowledgement of the terrific accomplishment she has just

:57:56.:57:59.

delivered, Nicola Adams claims a second successive Olympic gold in

:58:00.:58:04.

the boxing ring and, as a result, joins a pantheon of all-time Olympic

:58:05.:58:10.

greats, just the 17th boxer to win more than one Olympic title.

:58:11.:58:14.

Terrific performance by Nicola Adams, gold medallist for the second

:58:15.:58:19.

successive time in the 51 kilograms flyweight division.

:58:20.:58:39.

Ladies and gentlemen, the anthem of Great Britain.

:58:40.:58:51.

The enormity of the competent beginning to sink in for Nicola

:58:52.:59:53.

Adams, overcome with emotion after hearing the anthem and seen the

:59:54.:59:59.

union Jack flag raised. The acknowledgement of a second

:00:00.:00:01.

successive Olympic crown, a wonderful accomplishment. Nicola

:00:02.:00:08.

Adams continues to smile from air-to-air as the photographers

:00:09.:00:13.

capture images for prosperity. -- prosperity. Nicola Adams is a

:00:14.:00:16.

two-time champion of the boxing ring.

:00:17.:00:23.

She is the most successful amateur boxer for Britain. For all the glory

:00:24.:00:29.

and the gold medals and the champions, it is the moments of

:00:30.:00:32.

deepest disappointment that make you realise how much the Olympic Games

:00:33.:00:37.

matter. For Lutalo Mohammed, he was one second away from gold. Who's

:00:38.:00:46.

going to take a big crowd? Will be the time for Cisse or the man in

:00:47.:00:59.

blue, Lutalo Mohammed. Mohammed straightaway put his opponent on his

:01:00.:01:02.

back, the headshot landing. Impressive stuff. It is anybody's

:01:03.:01:16.

match now, who wants it most? We go into the last 20 seconds. Mohammed

:01:17.:01:24.

takes the push kick. 6-4 to the man from Great Britain. Has to keep his

:01:25.:01:28.

composure. Tries with the diverse turning kick. Cisse from the Ivory

:01:29.:01:37.

Coast time to produce a miracle. Mohammed on the back foot. One

:01:38.:01:43.

second away. The tale Mohamed Salah 's is down, blocks and that is a

:01:44.:01:49.

headshot at the last second from Cisse. The diverse turning kick. The

:01:50.:01:54.

man from the Ivory Coast finds the victory at the last second. What a

:01:55.:02:05.

turnaround. Cisse, Olympic champion. I was so close to being Olympic

:02:06.:02:11.

champion. One of the low points in my life. This is very sad for me. I

:02:12.:02:20.

am sorry. I could not come home with gold. And he is with me now. So

:02:21.:02:27.

difficult to watch it back. The first gold medal for the Ivory Coast

:02:28.:02:33.

and as no surprise that Cisse went bonkers around the stadium. How do

:02:34.:02:37.

you reflect on it? It was my first time watching it back, actually. It

:02:38.:02:43.

feels like the emotions have come over me again. Excuse me. It was a

:02:44.:02:49.

very tough moment at the time and it really felt like the low point in my

:02:50.:02:55.

life. Since then, I have been overwhelmed by the amount of

:02:56.:03:03.

support, the great messages I have received from fans back home over

:03:04.:03:06.

social media, through friends and family and the people walking around

:03:07.:03:12.

in Brazil. It is completely unexpected and it has made me feel

:03:13.:03:17.

so much better. I want to see that first, I appreciate the support so

:03:18.:03:22.

much. Sometimes, that is always when you need it most, not only moment of

:03:23.:03:28.

success, it is now. And as an athlete, it is from now that you

:03:29.:03:31.

prove yourself, isn't it? Definitely. The best athletes are

:03:32.:03:39.

tested. The ones that come through are the ones you remember and talk

:03:40.:03:45.

about. This is my second time at an Olympics, my second time being on

:03:46.:03:49.

the podium. I have lots to be proud of and lots to be grateful for. When

:03:50.:03:54.

you look back at it and when people who do not understand the complexity

:03:55.:03:58.

of tae kwon do, why can you not go down on the floor and say, do not

:03:59.:04:01.

touch me as Commissioner Mark I probably should have done that. It

:04:02.:04:09.

was such a weird moment. I did not think I had been hit. I felt I had

:04:10.:04:16.

blocked the shot. I looked at the scoreboard was no time left and saw

:04:17.:04:22.

that his points had gone on. It was a horrible moment of thinking I had

:04:23.:04:26.

won the Olympic final to realising that I hadn't. You are young, you're

:04:27.:04:34.

25, aren't you? Yes. How quickly can you reset yourself and what are your

:04:35.:04:40.

immediate objectives? Right now, I am in Rio so I will enjoy the rest

:04:41.:04:46.

of my time at the Olympics. I will watch my team-mates today. I will

:04:47.:04:49.

take some time away from the sport. Just to relax and unwind, look after

:04:50.:04:55.

some old injuries. When I feel the hunger again, I will take you

:04:56.:04:59.

step-by-step. I have no immediate plans of tae kwon do but I am sure

:05:00.:05:03.

it will be my future. Talking about Mahama Cho and Bianca Bogdan, what

:05:04.:05:13.

chance do you give them? Bianca Walkden is the reigning champion,

:05:14.:05:16.

two-time Olympic -- European champion. She has a great chance

:05:17.:05:19.

today. If she stays focused, she will. The same for Mahama Cho, the

:05:20.:05:29.

Grand Prix champion. Qualified for the Olympics through the European

:05:30.:05:33.

tournament by outclassing everyone in the division. He is clearly one

:05:34.:05:37.

of the best in the world and has a great chance of winning gold. I am

:05:38.:05:42.

just here to do everything I can to support our athletes who have got a

:05:43.:05:45.

great chance of two more medals today. Although you compete as

:05:46.:05:50.

individuals, teamwork is important. The model view despite being good at

:05:51.:05:54.

this the more there are to inspire others. I am not surprised -- shy to

:05:55.:06:02.

say the Jade Jones gave me a big boost. Seeing her win on the first

:06:03.:06:07.

day gave us the meant. It pushed me, help me make that final and give me

:06:08.:06:10.

the determination to make that final. I hope these two guys today

:06:11.:06:18.

can take something from my performance, or what not to do in

:06:19.:06:22.

the final. LAUGHTER. Something inspirational. This is already the

:06:23.:06:28.

best Olympics for tae kwon do for us and we want to add more medals. We

:06:29.:06:33.

work hard at tae kwon do so we deserve all the medals we can get.

:06:34.:06:39.

The bronze medal from London and a silver medal from here, you're the

:06:40.:06:42.

most successful British tae kwon do athlete. I have a lot to be proud of

:06:43.:06:50.

and I take pride in that fact. It has been fabulous to talk to you

:06:51.:06:54.

today. For people to see you smile and talk about the future. I know

:06:55.:06:58.

how much for the last leg. It has been fabulous. -- last night. Enjoy

:06:59.:07:05.

supporting the others. Thank you for having me. It is extraordinary at

:07:06.:07:09.

the Olympic Games, a Silver Medal is disappointing but the bronze medal

:07:10.:07:14.

can make you ecstatic. For the women's 4x100 m relay team, late

:07:15.:07:18.

last night in the athletic Stadium, a bronze medal was the first British

:07:19.:07:25.

female athlete since 1984. COMMENTATOR: The final of the

:07:26.:07:29.

women's 4x100 metres. Britain have not won a medal in this event since

:07:30.:07:31.

the Los Angeles games in 1984. Away the goal. United States in 11.

:07:32.:07:43.

Jamaica Aaron Lennon sex and Britain just inside them. Looking for the

:07:44.:07:48.

changeover and strong from Asha Philip to Desiree Henry. Germany

:07:49.:07:52.

looking quick but Great Britain and Northern Ireland in a strong

:07:53.:07:55.

position. -- Jamaica are in lean six. Dina Asher-Smith has it now.

:07:56.:08:05.

English Gardner handing it off. The United States lead. Jamaica in

:08:06.:08:11.

second. The United States running for gold. Shelly Ann Fraser Place

:08:12.:08:15.

for silver. Great Britain for bronze. The United States have it,

:08:16.:08:24.

it is blisteringly quick. Great Britain have the bronze medal, the

:08:25.:08:28.

celebrations for Great Britain and Northern Ireland, a new British

:08:29.:08:32.

record, it is taken into that bronze medal. Look at what it means for

:08:33.:08:39.

Desiree Henry and the smile on Ascherson -- Dina Asher-Smith. A

:08:40.:08:44.

bronze medal is a great achievement. The format of them are here now and

:08:45.:08:50.

still celebrating. Closest to me, Asha Philip, Desiree Henry, Dina

:08:51.:08:55.

Asher-Smith. This is a new British record. It is a team that has not

:08:56.:09:02.

been together very long. How do you sum that up? Honestly, it was the

:09:03.:09:06.

best thing we have done. To fulfil all our dreams, an Olympic final,

:09:07.:09:11.

there's nothing more I could have asked. National record when it

:09:12.:09:14.

mattered and that is what we needed to do. And you are also young. Yes,

:09:15.:09:22.

we are. I am the elders. You have to be proud. We work very hard for

:09:23.:09:27.

that. We are so excited. We have not seen the coverage so we get to see

:09:28.:09:31.

how we perform. It feels really good inside. And you still have got the

:09:32.:09:37.

medal ceremony. This crowd is brilliant. Are you the most

:09:38.:09:41.

emotional? I really am. I do not know what it is. I gets so

:09:42.:09:47.

emotional. I knew how hard we had worked. It filled me with so much

:09:48.:09:54.

ocean crossing the line. I could cry. It was tears of happiness.

:09:55.:10:01.

An amazing four years, remind everyone about London?

:10:02.:10:08.

I had the privilege of being one of the seven to light the Olympic

:10:09.:10:15.

cauldron. And here I am, with an Olympic medal, amazing.

:10:16.:10:20.

She is emotional. You had a job in London that was rather different to

:10:21.:10:24.

now. We have been through this story so

:10:25.:10:29.

many times. I was a kit carrier. Weird to be on the team with so many

:10:30.:10:36.

superstars but now an Olympic medallist.

:10:37.:10:43.

You have been flying. Isn't she? Everyone at home loves you. There is

:10:44.:10:48.

so much more to come. Thanks you. I have worked really

:10:49.:10:54.

hard, we all have. Last night was a testament to the entire video

:10:55.:11:01.

programme, and all the other girls here in Brazil and at home, how hard

:11:02.:11:06.

we have worked together, since January. We believed in each other

:11:07.:11:10.

and knew we could do it when it counted.

:11:11.:11:14.

When you handed over the baton, what did you shout?

:11:15.:11:20.

Go! The Americans were doing their own thing in lane one. Keep going,

:11:21.:11:27.

keep going! When she crossed the line, I started screaming and

:11:28.:11:32.

sprinting. To catch up and congratulate her.

:11:33.:11:38.

We were Olympic medallists. Where were you?

:11:39.:11:47.

Four years ago I was a junior at the Games held in the Olympic Stadium.

:11:48.:11:52.

And now I am here with an Olympic medal.

:11:53.:11:55.

Really exciting. Usain Bolt was making his final Olympic appearance.

:11:56.:12:02.

You will be not long before or after his medal ceremony tonight. Amazing

:12:03.:12:06.

to think he will be sitting at home watching you guys.

:12:07.:12:11.

It is special to be part of his closing to the Olympics.

:12:12.:12:16.

He has been part of my entire athletics career. A great

:12:17.:12:21.

inspiration to me. Was it him that made you want to be

:12:22.:12:25.

a sprinter? I saw him and felt, I would love to

:12:26.:12:30.

be at the Olympics one day and do what he has done. And I have an

:12:31.:12:36.

Olympic medal. I am on my way there. How close can you get to the

:12:37.:12:38.

Jamaicans? Three years ago we grabbed a bronze

:12:39.:12:50.

medal in Moscow. Last year in Beijing, we ran 42. This year, 41.

:12:51.:13:01.

We keep working hard, getting faster individually, believing in each

:13:02.:13:04.

other. Who knows? We could be up there.

:13:05.:13:10.

When are you expected to peak, when our sprinters at their best?

:13:11.:13:16.

I would say 25, 20 six. We have a while to go.

:13:17.:13:20.

We have an extremely young team. We have a medal which proves this is

:13:21.:13:27.

the age... Not everyone. We are getting started. We are

:13:28.:13:32.

looking for Tokyo with medal hopes and challenging for the gold medal.

:13:33.:13:45.

I predict your peak will be at 29! Technically my body is about their

:13:46.:13:50.

age, I would say I am the same age. In the running years you are

:13:51.:13:53.

younger. A fabulous bronze medal, enjoy the

:13:54.:13:57.

ceremony tonight. Thanks you for everything you have done to inspire

:13:58.:14:04.

others to follow in your footsteps. Get inspired!

:14:05.:14:10.

Thank you to the National Lottery. Get inspired is our sports campaign

:14:29.:14:33.

:14:38.:14:40.

try. Now we are passing the baton on to

:14:41.:14:43.

you. Get inspired and get active.

:14:44.:14:49.

Fabulous talking to them, I love this.

:14:50.:14:53.

This is what is still to come, another gold medal possibly for

:14:54.:14:59.

Cuba. The quarterfinals of the taekwondo.

:15:00.:15:05.

On the Red Button, the diving ten metre platform, the best of it here

:15:06.:15:09.

as well. The football final, Brazil versus

:15:10.:15:13.

Germany, and potential semifinals for Bianca and Mohammed Cho.

:15:14.:15:21.

The men's football final is in full on BBC Four.

:15:22.:15:26.

Tonight at 1:30am, Mo Farah is looking to cement his place as one

:15:27.:15:28.

of the great long-distance runners. The 5010,000m, longest journeys of

:15:29.:15:42.

the track. Lap after lap, again and again. The names that sit in the

:15:43.:15:50.

memory recent and distance, Haile Gebrselassie, it seemed so simple to

:15:51.:15:56.

them, but that is a lie. Minutes on the tracks are days of long miles

:15:57.:16:00.

and hard graft and with the race itself, with that fluent ease comes

:16:01.:16:05.

pain. Even those greats have limits, only

:16:06.:16:10.

one other man has before done the double double. Come through that

:16:11.:16:15.

pain to success on the other side in the Olympic 10,000m and the 5000m

:16:16.:16:19.

relay the four years later, then done it again.

:16:20.:16:24.

COMMENTATOR: Defends the title wonderfully well, they are not going

:16:25.:16:29.

to beat him. The greatest distance runner in the world proves it beyond

:16:30.:16:32.

doubt. The flying Finn of the 1970s of

:16:33.:16:36.

Munich and Montreal. Now, now there is Mo Farah trying to

:16:37.:16:42.

match that feat and earning comparisons with the best of the

:16:43.:16:48.

past. How to compare two men 40 years apart, was the feet great

:16:49.:16:53.

having to pass through sapping heat in the 10,000m before racing for

:16:54.:16:59.

gold over both distances? Mo Farah, already has a double

:17:00.:17:03.

double of world titles, but that is a prize created after that time.

:17:04.:17:11.

So don't compare, simply admire. With the very best we perhaps lose

:17:12.:17:16.

our perspective. Too much success and it is diminished more some --

:17:17.:17:20.

more makes it somehow less. Remember, this is never easy. Only

:17:21.:17:28.

near the end when the prize is near do we see that mask slip and the

:17:29.:17:32.

pain and effort that lies beneath. The effort that brings Mo Farah now

:17:33.:17:39.

close to Olympic gold again, and again, one more time.

:17:40.:17:50.

He fell down in the 10,000m, got up and won gold. He stumbled in the

:17:51.:18:00.

5000m relay, he will run for gold at 1:30am.

:18:01.:18:03.

More like boxing still to come, could it be another gold medal for

:18:04.:18:06.

Cuba? Here is John. A fight between Cuba

:18:07.:18:11.

and Uzbekistan coming up. Time we heard again from Nicola

:18:12.:18:16.

Adams, another gold medal for Great Britain. After she had time to

:18:17.:18:20.

reflect, she came to speak to us again.

:18:21.:18:23.

You have had time to reflect a bit. How does being Olympic champion

:18:24.:18:26.

twice compared with being Olympic champion just the once?

:18:27.:18:31.

Definitely, it is what dreams are made of. I started crying, I haven't

:18:32.:18:37.

cried in so long. That shows how much it really means to me. It means

:18:38.:18:42.

everything. The last four years of hard work has paid off for this

:18:43.:18:46.

moment. When you woke up this morning, where

:18:47.:18:52.

you nervous, confident, excited? A bit of everything. Confident,

:18:53.:18:57.

excited, looking forward to it. But I was ready. When people look at

:18:58.:19:04.

your CV, the thing that strikes you is, worked as an extra on Emmerdale

:19:05.:19:09.

and Coronation Street to make ends meet. Does that seem so far away you

:19:10.:19:13.

can't imagine it, or is there still a bit of that time that inspires you

:19:14.:19:16.

now? Definitely. I look back on the hard

:19:17.:19:21.

times, that is what make you propel forward. It gives me the drive and

:19:22.:19:27.

ambition to keep on moving forward, keep creating history. I'd like to

:19:28.:19:31.

say thank you to everyone who supported me.

:19:32.:19:34.

One last question, you are on this list of famous Olympians who have

:19:35.:19:41.

won two back-to-back Olympic gold medals. A very thin list who have

:19:42.:19:45.

won three, do you fancy that? Definitely.

:19:46.:19:50.

You will keep going? I need to think first, go on holiday, we left this

:19:51.:19:54.

longer before I decide what I will do.

:19:55.:19:56.

Many congratulations, the country have loved this.

:19:57.:20:00.

Thank you. Nicola Adams still smiling.

:20:01.:20:05.

Actually, we had a lot of tears on the podium when Ramirez, the Cuban,

:20:06.:20:10.

was looking at his national flag and the enormity of what he had done,

:20:11.:20:15.

winning back-to-back gold medals at different weight divisions finally

:20:16.:20:18.

consumed him. Another Cuban, Lopez against his

:20:19.:20:25.

Uzbekistan opponent in the men's 75 kilograms category.

:20:26.:20:28.

Every four years that comes around, we look at Cuban boxing and realise

:20:29.:20:33.

the tradition they have there, Anthony, is what keeps breeding the

:20:34.:20:34.

next generation. Definitely. A decision to stay

:20:35.:20:44.

amateur and represent their country, or defects and turned professional.

:20:45.:20:48.

When these guys stay in their country training, Olympics after

:20:49.:20:52.

Olympics, the experience they gain is so good.

:20:53.:20:59.

Some of the guys, we strike when the iron is hot.

:21:00.:21:00.

These guys live a different lifestyle.

:21:01.:21:04.

We have seen them time and again at the Olympics, they are getting

:21:05.:21:10.

better. Just like James Degale, Price. They wanted to do great

:21:11.:21:15.

things as professionals. But like the computer -- but like the tubers,

:21:16.:21:21.

they stay as parameters to represent their country.

:21:22.:21:25.

The last final on the penultimate day of the boxing tournament in Rio.

:21:26.:21:26.

Let us enjoy it. We are underway. This battle of

:21:27.:21:41.

southpaws, what a matchup in prospect, the man wearing red, the

:21:42.:21:47.

reigning gold medallist, Arlen Lopez, a cracking lead right hand.

:21:48.:21:53.

The man in blue is the reigning World Championship silver medallist,

:21:54.:22:03.

Bektemir Melikuziev. What is important for Melikuziev,

:22:04.:22:09.

Ron, is the boxes at his pace. Through this tournament, Lopez, this

:22:10.:22:14.

Cuban, is exceptional. He always slows the opponent's pace down, the

:22:15.:22:19.

boxes at his pace. It is very important Melikuziev on that front

:22:20.:22:25.

foot, he takes it to the Cuban and boxes at his pace. Lopez prefers

:22:26.:22:29.

that slower tempo. Let us face it, he has hardly broken

:22:30.:22:34.

sweat in the earlier rounds. Melikuziev has two upped the tempo

:22:35.:22:38.

and push the Cuban and force him maybe to box at a pace he is not

:22:39.:22:43.

used to. As you said, Lopez has had it all

:22:44.:22:47.

his own way through the tournament so far, the number one ranked boxer

:22:48.:22:52.

in the world, getting through with a good shot to the body. In his first

:22:53.:22:56.

contest in the second preliminary round, he produced the knockout of

:22:57.:23:00.

the tournament, is single left hand from that southpaw stance.

:23:01.:23:06.

It laid his opponent out on the canvas. The referee calling off the

:23:07.:23:10.

contest. We know he is a talent, Lopez.

:23:11.:23:16.

Sometimes come he goes from all the dots to southpaw and you cannot tell

:23:17.:23:22.

if he is a natural southpaw or a natural orthodox boxer. That is how

:23:23.:23:26.

good this Cuban is, he does both stars extremely well. Melikuziev,

:23:27.:23:32.

this is not a bad start, boxing at his pace.

:23:33.:23:43.

We know Lopez is good, both styles. Some nice movement from the waist.

:23:44.:23:49.

The "Marvellous" Marvin Hagler against sugar Ray Leonard, we

:23:50.:23:55.

couldn't tell whether he was a natural left or right. He asked for

:23:56.:24:01.

his autograph to determine which was his natural stance.

:24:02.:24:11.

Lopez, not discernible. He is so adept at either boxing stance.

:24:12.:24:20.

Effective work to the body from Lopez. Melikuziev as is his wand, on

:24:21.:24:27.

his toes. Bouncing in and out. Lopez, such an

:24:28.:24:33.

accurate punch picker, that is a good left hand to the body before

:24:34.:24:34.

the bell. That is the problem and Melikuziev

:24:35.:24:45.

faces when it comes to launching attacks. Lopez is a talent, like you

:24:46.:24:53.

said. But there's not a lot of movement with his feet. He's very

:24:54.:24:57.

accurate with his shots. But was a lovely body from Melikuziev. Look at

:24:58.:25:03.

that, around the garden of his opponent. He's got a fairly relaxed

:25:04.:25:10.

guard, Melikuziev. Slow on his feet but accurate with his punches. One

:25:11.:25:17.

hitting the target, the other just skimming. Let's have a look at these

:25:18.:25:20.

scores now. It's Lopez across the board. Melikuziev seem to be boxing

:25:21.:25:27.

at his post, but the judges preferred the accurate work from the

:25:28.:25:29.

Cuban. -- at his pace. So, back to me Melikuziev, the

:25:30.:25:43.

number three ranked in the world has started very quickly indeed in this

:25:44.:25:48.

second round having conceded the first round unanimously. Just 20

:25:49.:25:52.

years of age. The two men engaging on a trade off right on top of the

:25:53.:25:59.

logo. Even with that style of boxing, you just see Lopez there, he

:26:00.:26:04.

still has the experience and the knowledge to keep those hands up

:26:05.:26:08.

when he's boxing on the inside. He is letting the punches go, but he

:26:09.:26:12.

does the basics very well. He's got a naturally good guard. Blocking

:26:13.:26:16.

shots on the inside, and he still gets his hands up to his chin to

:26:17.:26:22.

block anything that comes back from quite a dangerous opponent here.

:26:23.:26:27.

But, again, better work from Lopez on the inside. Even under that heavy

:26:28.:26:31.

fire, the expression of Lopez seemingly doesn't change. Incredibly

:26:32.:26:38.

calm, incredibly poised. Melikuziev now on the back foot, looking to

:26:39.:26:42.

launch attacks from the outside but not before taking a good right hand

:26:43.:26:46.

to the body, countered with a body shot of his own. Lopez just

:26:47.:26:52.

targeting that body. Again, good work on the inside. Holding his

:26:53.:26:57.

feet, preparing to take shots on the elbows. Gets caught that, but you

:26:58.:27:00.

watch 's work downstairs, this Cuban. -- you watch his work

:27:01.:27:09.

downstairs. Hurting downstairs, slows those feet. Melikuziev, plenty

:27:10.:27:15.

of work but a lot of the shots are inaccurate. The arms, better work

:27:16.:27:22.

from Lopez. A good car thing right hook by the man in red. Melikuziev

:27:23.:27:27.

elected to hold his feet and try to engage in an exchange. -- a good

:27:28.:27:33.

cuffing right hook. Melikuziev comes in as a reigning youth champion and

:27:34.:27:37.

reigning Olympic Games champion. A wonderful transition made through to

:27:38.:27:42.

the senior ranks. Here you are looking to get a measure of revenge

:27:43.:27:48.

over the man who outpointed him to Championships last year. Melikuziev

:27:49.:27:52.

is making too many mistakes here. He is missing the target and then is

:27:53.:27:56.

way out of position. His hands are too low. About the quality opponent

:27:57.:28:01.

like Lopez, you can't afford to do that. Melikuziev is going for it,

:28:02.:28:05.

putting everything into every shot. When he misses the target, his guard

:28:06.:28:10.

is the problem. That is when he's open. Lopez back with the quality

:28:11.:28:17.

shots. Just downstairs, just mix about shot to the body. A good left

:28:18.:28:21.

hand to the body in response from Melikuziev. The shots attempted

:28:22.:28:26.

upstairs were blocked effectively by the gloves and form of Lopez.

:28:27.:28:29.

Getting physically now, increasingly so. Lopez remaining naturally calm

:28:30.:28:36.

under that heavy assault of punches. This it's just a little bit neater

:28:37.:28:56.

on the God of the Cuban. He is blocking shots on the Alberta and

:28:57.:29:00.

the arms. But wasn't a bad shot from Melikuziev. -- a bit neater on the

:29:01.:29:07.

God of the Cuban. -- blocking shots on the elbow. Across the board,

:29:08.:29:15.

Melikuziev is trying to box on the outside, on the inside. But I think

:29:16.:29:20.

his defence is a little bit leaky and Lopez is exposing that.

:29:21.:29:40.

Some five seconds had elapsed before this third and final round actually

:29:41.:29:52.

got underway. Back to me Melikuziev, in blue, is trailing by two points

:29:53.:29:59.

on all cards. Trying to turn this final round into a firefight because

:30:00.:30:04.

he needs aim massive round just to get back on terms. Look at the

:30:05.:30:09.

hurtful body shots being sent in by both boxers. But particularly

:30:10.:30:11.

accurate singles from the man in red. Melikuziev is going for it, you

:30:12.:30:18.

have to give him great credit. He would probably get away with it for

:30:19.:30:22.

other opponents, but when he misses the target his hands are a little

:30:23.:30:26.

bit low. That is when Lopez comes back. The Cuban's accuracy is the

:30:27.:30:32.

difference. Sharper, hitting the target. Melikuziev may have got away

:30:33.:30:35.

with it against lower-level opposition. But this fellow is of

:30:36.:30:41.

the highest quality. They have been called out to expect what we think

:30:42.:30:45.

is an injury around the left eye. Still not able to get a clear look

:30:46.:30:50.

at it. It's been a litany of cuts suffered by the boxes in this, the

:30:51.:30:56.

first games where the men are without head guards since Moscow

:30:57.:31:03.

1980. -- the boxers. It might have been a clash of heads, there was a

:31:04.:31:10.

lots of punches thrown also. Arlen Lopez over in the opposite neutral

:31:11.:31:16.

corner. He will have 45 seconds in which to tend to that cut. But 15

:31:17.:31:25.

second -- thereof 30 seconds to go. We will hear another double clapper

:31:26.:31:30.

in a few seconds giving him an idea of where he is in his allotted time.

:31:31.:31:34.

It looks like the cut is above the eye, which is a problem because the

:31:35.:31:39.

blood then runs into it and impairs the box's vision. If only they could

:31:40.:31:44.

stop the flow of blood. It looks like they have. -- be boxer's

:31:45.:31:50.

vision. The third and final round reviews. Arlen Lopez, the man in

:31:51.:31:57.

red, the reigning World Champion in a commanding position in this bout.

:31:58.:32:01.

Coming into the third and final round he had a 2-point lead across

:32:02.:32:04.

the board having taken the first two round unanimously. A terrific right

:32:05.:32:12.

hand from Lopez who is trying to put Cuba on a par with Great Britain and

:32:13.:32:16.

the USA by making it five gold medals for his country in the

:32:17.:32:21.

middleweight division. A total Great Britain and the USA have already

:32:22.:32:26.

acquired. The volume of punches are definitely coming from the man in

:32:27.:32:29.

blue. The single eye-catching shots from Lopez. He's boxing a clever

:32:30.:32:36.

contest in close quarters here, Lopez. Keeping the guard high,

:32:37.:32:41.

blocking lower shots. He's waiting for an opportunity. That was a

:32:42.:32:46.

perfect punch from Lopez. Melikuziev still trying to find the finishing

:32:47.:32:56.

shot. He is unlikely to outboxed this man to the tune of 10-8 that he

:32:57.:33:03.

needs. The time, remember, will be on the side of Arlen Lopez given

:33:04.:33:06.

that he is in such a commanding position. A good right hook again on

:33:07.:33:12.

the inside. Melikuziev, as he is trying to launch his own flows, more

:33:13.:33:17.

direct punches are picking him off, beating him to the punch

:33:18.:33:21.

consistently from Lopez. What Lopez has done now, he is going to slow

:33:22.:33:25.

his feet down. Melikuziev goes for a walk. That is seating Lopez with

:33:26.:33:34.

those better quality shots from the inside. A good effort from

:33:35.:33:37.

Melikuziev, he has just been out punched in close quarters.

:33:38.:33:50.

Melikuziev is not able to launch one final rallying deep into that third

:33:51.:33:59.

and final round. Arlen Lopez will occupy top spot on the medal podium

:34:00.:34:03.

in the men's 75 kilograms middleweight division. A terrific

:34:04.:34:08.

performance by the reigning World Championship gold medallist. And a

:34:09.:34:12.

repeat victory over the talented youngster from Uzbekistan, back to

:34:13.:34:15.

me Melikuziev, who will come away with silver. -- lobectomy

:34:16.:34:18.

Melikuziev. Super from Lopez, fought about his

:34:19.:34:29.

defence to block shots on the inside. Against a fairly aggressive

:34:30.:34:35.

Melikuziev. And Lopez is a talent, he can box at range, he can box on

:34:36.:34:39.

the inside, he has power. Great balance and accuracy. A very

:34:40.:34:43.

talented man indeed and a deserving winner.

:34:44.:34:52.

Ladies and gentlemen, the winner by unanimous

:34:53.:35:06.

decision. Arlen Lopez seemingly overcome with emotion at claiming

:35:07.:35:22.

Olympic gold in the 75 kilograms middleweight division. The reigning

:35:23.:35:25.

World Champion becomes the Olympic champion with a series of

:35:26.:35:28.

practically punch perfect displays throughout the course of the

:35:29.:35:32.

tournament. He becomes the fifth Cuban to claim middleweight gold,

:35:33.:35:36.

putting them on a par with Great Britain and the USA. That is why he

:35:37.:35:42.

is acknowledging all sides of the arena here at Riocentro Pavilion 6.

:35:43.:35:48.

Spare a thought from Melikuziev, just 20 years of age. He adds

:35:49.:35:53.

Olympic silver to his World Championship silver. At the moment

:35:54.:35:57.

belongs to Lopez who is the champion.

:35:58.:36:02.

STUDIO: another great day for Cuban boxing with two more medals. That

:36:03.:36:08.

was tight, but you think he just got it? Yes, really tight play. First

:36:09.:36:15.

round I was like, hang on. Uzbekistan did well. They were

:36:16.:36:18.

unpredictable. But feeling Cuba fight, I seemed to find his range

:36:19.:36:23.

and his distance. Then he started building round by round. It was

:36:24.:36:27.

really close but for me that was the right decision. One final reflection

:36:28.:36:32.

on Nicola Adams earlier on today? You live within the boxing world.

:36:33.:36:37.

How much does she do for the sport as a whole? Micky Adams, boxing is

:36:38.:36:46.

known as a grim, grass roots, tough sport. Which it did. But Nicola

:36:47.:36:51.

desert with a smile on her face, with personality and charisma.

:36:52.:36:54.

Appeals to everyone from used adults. Nicola has changed it in the

:36:55.:37:05.

sense that she invites people in. -- for youths to adults. When Nicola is

:37:06.:37:13.

achieving we should all be smiling because she is bringing attention to

:37:14.:37:17.

the sport of boxing. Can you see a second gold medal for Britain

:37:18.:37:21.

tomorrow? Big Joe Joyce, the steam train. There is nothing stopping the

:37:22.:37:28.

man. Except himself! He has got the resilient people eating out of the

:37:29.:37:31.

palm of his hand. He's got my support, he's got so much energy.

:37:32.:37:36.

All he has to do is go in and do what he does. He has a tough

:37:37.:37:40.

opponent from France with a great jab behind, but for me a great jab

:37:41.:37:44.

isn't enough to stop Joe Joyce. We will find out tomorrow. Good to see

:37:45.:37:48.

you, we'll be back on ringside tomorrow. Can this boxing

:37:49.:37:52.

competition in Rio end on the grandest of all finale finale for

:37:53.:37:54.

Great Britain? -- of all finales. All the hard work that Joe Joyce has

:37:55.:38:36.

put in over the last four years could come to fruition tomorrow

:38:37.:38:39.

night and he could provide Team GB with a last gold medal of these

:38:40.:38:44.

games. 7:15pm tomorrow will be that gold medal fight. We hoped tonight

:38:45.:38:48.

would be a diving spectacular featuring Tom Daley but it did not

:38:49.:38:53.

go to plan. He qualified for the semifinals in first position, but it

:38:54.:38:54.

all went wrong. COMMENTATOR: the men's semifinal of

:38:55.:39:05.

the ten metre platform. First dive for Tom Daley, the man who lead in

:39:06.:39:14.

the preliminaries. Not as good as yesterday, but good enough. I would

:39:15.:39:18.

like to see him not quite as good in this semifinal. I want to see him

:39:19.:39:22.

diving well, but I want to see him just backing off the gas. Round two.

:39:23.:39:28.

Let's see what we can do with this 3.6 dive. This is his newest dive.

:39:29.:39:36.

Not the rotational speed he is used to. Drops a bit like a stone. On to

:39:37.:39:44.

round three. If this goes well, he will rocket up the standings. Tom

:39:45.:39:55.

needs to get moving. No, not yet. He is way off the standings at the

:39:56.:40:02.

moment. But she can make it back. -- but he can make it back.

:40:03.:40:09.

This is better from Tom. Not as good but an improvement which is what we

:40:10.:40:17.

want to see. Over 30 points Tom Daley had to make

:40:18.:40:22.

up to get into the top 12. It is achievable but will take some doing.

:40:23.:40:29.

OK, the reparation job has two start here and had to start with this.

:40:30.:40:36.

Yesterday, he got ten on this dive. To get himself out of the mire.

:40:37.:40:43.

That will help a lot. But we are still way in the danger zone.

:40:44.:40:50.

Here we go with Round 6, final round of the semifinal. Tom Daley come it

:40:51.:40:56.

is down to you, do you have what it takes to get 101 points to get level

:40:57.:41:02.

with 12th, the biggest dive of your life. Coming up right now.

:41:03.:41:11.

No, that is it. Unbelievable. We did not predict this. Tom Daley winning

:41:12.:41:17.

by a country mile yesterday. Today in the semifinals, not making it

:41:18.:41:19.

through. What an awful day at therefore Tom.

:41:20.:41:27.

An Olympic bronze medallist in the synchro, but he will be devastated.

:41:28.:41:33.

Tom Daley finishes in 18th place. What a reversal in fortunes.

:41:34.:41:37.

Yesterday, the best. Today, the worst.

:41:38.:41:43.

Commiserations, we can see what it means to you.

:41:44.:41:49.

What happened? I have worked so hard these past four years.

:41:50.:41:55.

Yesterday, I got an Olympic record, the highest score in an Olympic

:41:56.:41:57.

Games. Today, it wasn't meant to be. You

:41:58.:42:04.

know, I truly am heartbroken because I really do feel like I am in peak

:42:05.:42:08.

physical condition and I could go out there and have won tonight. It

:42:09.:42:14.

is hard to accept how it went today. Your team-mates would argue this is

:42:15.:42:19.

the most stressful sport, the most high pressure, add to that the

:42:20.:42:23.

expectations. What is going through your head on that board?

:42:24.:42:29.

I am completely present in the moment, enjoying each moment.

:42:30.:42:34.

Today, things weren't clicking. I was soaked up for it. Cheney was

:42:35.:42:40.

really good. In the competition, it fell apart -- I was so up for it.

:42:41.:42:47.

I am happy Howard Team GB has done, it makes be proud to be part of Team

:42:48.:42:55.

GB. -- happy Howard Team GB has done.

:42:56.:43:01.

It wasn't meant to be. Another four years of hard work now.

:43:02.:43:08.

It didn't feel any different. I felt good in myself. My mind and body

:43:09.:43:10.

word connecting. I worked out I needed 9.2, and gave

:43:11.:43:27.

it my all but it didn't happen. It did happen last week, you have

:43:28.:43:33.

won bronze medal. Not a write-off. Pretty successful in that sense. I

:43:34.:43:38.

am really happy. After 2012I came away with a bronze medal. I got a

:43:39.:43:44.

bronze medal in synchro with Dan. We worked hard. I really wanted that

:43:45.:43:50.

gold medal this time. There is always another four years.

:43:51.:43:56.

Tokyo is in your sites? Yes, even more than ever now. Tom,

:43:57.:44:01.

you have done so much for the profile of the sport. You have an

:44:02.:44:05.

army of fans. I can see why you are upset but

:44:06.:44:10.

don't be heartbroken. It is heartbreaking because it is

:44:11.:44:14.

the Olympic Games. Those five rings on the wall mean so much to me.

:44:15.:44:19.

To not be in the final to get a shot for those medals is heartbreaking.

:44:20.:44:28.

A good story for Tokyo. You know films, it gives a better

:44:29.:44:31.

narrative. I will work even harder than before.

:44:32.:44:39.

Tom Daley, so emotional. Leon Taylor, you must feel as bad as he

:44:40.:44:45.

does, that was a major shock. Tom used the word heartbroken

:44:46.:44:49.

several times, that sums it up. He was diving farewell yesterday.

:44:50.:44:57.

But he couldn't connect. It is like a radio frequency, when it is tuned

:44:58.:45:02.

in, but slightly out, that is where Tom was all day.

:45:03.:45:06.

It was very windy this morning. Now it has started to rain.

:45:07.:45:13.

Conditions shouldn't have been a factor?

:45:14.:45:15.

No, Tom quite rightly said it is one of those things. 171 points

:45:16.:45:21.

differential between yesterday and this morning which is huge.

:45:22.:45:26.

Not like running, where you are on form.

:45:27.:45:30.

This dive is where it starts to go wrong, his fireworks dive.

:45:31.:45:34.

In training it was exceptional. Here, his take-off was weak, he

:45:35.:45:38.

looked lacklustre. Dive after dive, it was getting more

:45:39.:45:43.

woeful. He left himself too much to do on

:45:44.:45:47.

that final dive. It was mathematically possible but you

:45:48.:45:50.

cannot make that many mistakes no matter who you are.

:45:51.:45:55.

I really felt him. I felt physically sick afterwards. Only a fraction of

:45:56.:46:00.

what Tom was feeling. I applaud him for doing those interviews, the last

:46:01.:46:04.

thing he wanted to do. You heard it from him, I am

:46:05.:46:09.

definitely doing Tokyo, his fourth Olympic Games.

:46:10.:46:12.

I am delighted to hear him say that with such determination.

:46:13.:46:17.

He worked so hard, he will be back. In terms of the British diving

:46:18.:46:21.

squad, there is much to celebrate. Even though this is the end of it,

:46:22.:46:26.

this is not the last chapter in the story.

:46:27.:46:30.

Let us reflect, we have our first ever Olympic gold medal. Three

:46:31.:46:36.

medals. Tom has one of them. Let us celebrate everything that is British

:46:37.:46:40.

diving, get it on the TV more. There will be so many stories between now

:46:41.:46:44.

and Tokyo. Everyone at home will be

:46:45.:46:48.

disappointed not to see Tom in the final.

:46:49.:46:50.

For what he has done for British diving, how big an influence has he

:46:51.:46:55.

been? It was Beijing at the age of 14 that

:46:56.:47:02.

he shot to superstardom. His first Olympic Games, finishing

:47:03.:47:06.

seventh. Onwards from there. His results

:47:07.:47:11.

speak for themselves, what he has done for the sport is incredible.

:47:12.:47:16.

Across all events, men and women, the results in Rio have been

:47:17.:47:19.

astonishing. I am proud of the entire team.

:47:20.:47:26.

I will let you go off for the ten metre platform final.

:47:27.:47:31.

Who do you think will win it? A send ten. He was sensational in

:47:32.:47:44.

the semifinal. -- Aisen Chen. A grey day in Rio but a lot of sport

:47:45.:47:48.

to bring you which won't be affected by the weather.

:47:49.:47:53.

The British team, the sun continues to shine on their performances.

:47:54.:47:57.

Bill Sweeney, chairman of the British Olympic Association joins me

:47:58.:48:00.

now. That smile cannot have been far away

:48:01.:48:05.

from your face for the last 15 days. A history making Games for us, we

:48:06.:48:11.

came here with the desire to be the best away team.

:48:12.:48:17.

And the range of sports. We have 26 gold medals in 15 sports, four more

:48:18.:48:22.

sports than any other country, a testament to the investment from UK

:48:23.:48:30.

sport and the National Lottery. Did you ever think you would look at

:48:31.:48:35.

and Ms -- a medal table and the Great Britain ahead of China?

:48:36.:48:40.

Brilliant. 24 hours to go still. Lovely to see that.

:48:41.:48:48.

The USA in front but those 39 goals have come in 11 different sports.

:48:49.:48:54.

Great Britain's have come in 15 different sports.

:48:55.:48:58.

You take in the success rate of the USA in the swimming pool, and we

:48:59.:49:04.

should be more impressed by the British team, compared to countries

:49:05.:49:09.

with much bigger populations. We invest while in sport but we

:49:10.:49:13.

wouldn't necessarily invest numbers wise as much as some countries. Is

:49:14.:49:18.

it down to strategic investment? I do. It is a case of patients, this

:49:19.:49:23.

has been coming for 20 years. If by chance we hit at 66, we will be the

:49:24.:49:29.

first nation to have five consecutive Games growth.

:49:30.:49:34.

It is starting to pay off. Where were you in 1996 when Great Britain

:49:35.:49:39.

had only one gold medal? Probably overseas. A sad moment. The

:49:40.:49:44.

nation said, we are better than that, we are a better sporting

:49:45.:49:48.

nation. We had the National Lottery funding

:49:49.:49:50.

coming in. British sport is made up of

:49:51.:49:55.

different moving parts, UK sport, us, the national governing bodies

:49:56.:49:59.

who have done a fantastic job bringing the talent in.

:50:00.:50:06.

A real team effort. Have a look at the grass in terms of

:50:07.:50:11.

the speed and rate at which these medals have been won, consistently

:50:12.:50:15.

above what was happening in London. I don't think anybody thought that

:50:16.:50:18.

would happen. Looking back to the beginning of the

:50:19.:50:23.

Games, people with limited views saying I can't get excited about

:50:24.:50:26.

silver and bronze. The gold medals started to come.

:50:27.:50:30.

Even the beginning was more successful than London.

:50:31.:50:34.

There were high points throughout the Games, big names delivering,

:50:35.:50:39.

Andy Murray, Justin Rose, the cyclists.

:50:40.:50:43.

Then a 16-year-old Amy Tinkler who hasn't even got her GCSE results.

:50:44.:50:48.

And Sophie Hitchon in the hammer. That lifts the entire camp.

:50:49.:50:53.

Anything is possible. And hockey last night and the goals with that

:50:54.:50:59.

amazing game. You think, the gods are smiling.

:51:00.:51:03.

This is our Games. A lot has to do with peaking at the right time. The

:51:04.:51:08.

coaching setup, the nutrition side, sports science has to be spot on.

:51:09.:51:14.

Absolutely. The margins between victory and failure are the margins

:51:15.:51:19.

which are so minute. At the worlds at the velodrome in

:51:20.:51:24.

London, the Australians pipped us. The cycling team said, we will get

:51:25.:51:27.

them in Rio because we are planning to peak in Rio.

:51:28.:51:33.

Hats off to walk the performance directors and team leaders across

:51:34.:51:38.

the sports. They are getting the results.

:51:39.:51:42.

When will you plan for Tokyo? We have been there three times in

:51:43.:51:46.

the past 12 months, officials from Tokyo this morning, there in

:51:47.:51:50.

September to sign up for the pre-Games prep camp.

:51:51.:51:57.

The momentum has started. Fabulous, many congratulations to

:51:58.:52:00.

everyone involved. Thank you, great being here. Still

:52:01.:52:08.

to come this evening. Live handball, one in which Balint has not yet won

:52:09.:52:10.

a medal. -- Britain. Then Mahama Cho at 8:15pm. Followed

:52:11.:52:25.

by Bianca Walkden, the world champion, at 8:30pm in her

:52:26.:52:29.

quarterfinal. We hope they make it through to the semifinals which will

:52:30.:52:33.

be at 9:30pm. The ten metre platform final you can

:52:34.:52:39.

follow that on the Red Button from 8:30pm.

:52:40.:52:42.

The football we are showing you in full from 9:30pm, Brazil versus

:52:43.:52:46.

Germany. Athletics tonight is worth staying

:52:47.:52:52.

up for, 1:30am. Before all that, the women's

:52:53.:52:56.

handball final is underway. France beat the Netherlands by one point in

:52:57.:52:59.

the semifinals. Russia went to extra time to beat

:53:00.:53:04.

the reigning champions Norway. Here is all you need to know about how

:53:05.:53:06.

the sport works. Olympic handball is a fast flowing

:53:07.:53:19.

in a high-scoring, body contact game played over two halves of 30

:53:20.:53:24.

minutes. Played by two teams of seven players, six outfield players

:53:25.:53:29.

and a goalkeeper. Each goal is surrounded by a semicircle indicated

:53:30.:53:34.

by a lane six metres from goal. Only the defending goalkeeper is allowed

:53:35.:53:37.

in this area. Players can move with a ball by

:53:38.:53:40.

dribbling and passing in the same way a basket ballplayer with. They

:53:41.:53:46.

can block with their head, chest, thighs and knees but players cannot

:53:47.:53:50.

stand still with a ball for more than three seconds at a time.

:53:51.:53:53.

If a player commits a foul, the referee can award if free throw or

:53:54.:53:59.

seven metre shot. Taken from the seven metre line and given when the

:54:00.:54:03.

referee rules someone has prevented a goal-scoring opportunity.

:54:04.:54:07.

A free throw is like a free kick in football and generally taken from

:54:08.:54:15.

the spot where the foul occurred. Overtime is only played during the

:54:16.:54:22.

knockout phase. If this happens, teams play five minutes extra and

:54:23.:54:27.

only take another five bits if the school is tight.

:54:28.:54:30.

If they are still tied at the end, the result is decided by a shoot

:54:31.:54:32.

out. Neither of these sides have won a

:54:33.:54:43.

gold medal in handball before. Keep an eye on the Russian coach, his

:54:44.:54:48.

pitch side antics have gone viral in Russia. Russia are in blue. Paul

:54:49.:54:53.

Bray and Jack Nichols are your commentators.

:54:54.:55:05.

COMMENTATOR: so, forefront the pace has slowed. It is the right thing to

:55:06.:55:16.

do. Number 10 in the middle is just one goal from ten. Wasn't used at

:55:17.:55:30.

all in the semifinal. Grace Zaadi find the line. Stopped her from

:55:31.:55:33.

turning, but that is the third and final yellow card for the Russians.

:55:34.:55:37.

It was causing all manner of problems at the back for the line

:55:38.:55:42.

player. A very nice connection. The two who will be together next year

:55:43.:55:55.

after a move from Nice. Let's have a look as Lacrabere connect.

:55:56.:56:09.

So, Lacrabere has been quiet with the shooting. It is almost as if she

:56:10.:56:15.

is afraid of taking the shot for the moment. She is looking for the line.

:56:16.:56:20.

Probably she has the hardest shot in the French team. Well cut out this

:56:21.:56:34.

time. This is pushed up deep on her. Zaadi, right the keeper. She is

:56:35.:56:44.

pushed down. Good once more. The winger is doing a good defence job

:56:45.:56:52.

at the back for Russia. Comes out again. That was a flat ball through.

:56:53.:57:00.

Now they have got the win free. It wasn't a great pass, what a shame.

:57:01.:57:05.

They have to start again. It just needed a clean finish. Both teams

:57:06.:57:11.

making changes between and defence. Caught from behind, that will be

:57:12.:57:20.

off. Lacrabere has already had 80 minutes worth of suspensions in the

:57:21.:57:25.

competition. -- Edwige has already had 80 minutes of suspensions in the

:57:26.:57:29.

competition. She gets her first in the final. The Russian coach is not

:57:30.:57:38.

want to stay quiet on the bench. Bellowing instructions. Midway

:57:39.:57:43.

through the first off, Russia lead 4-3. Dominated by strong defending

:57:44.:57:51.

on both sides. There is Lacrabere. She gets back up to her feet, having

:57:52.:57:57.

been dropped to the ground. And conceding the foul. Here it is

:57:58.:58:01.

again. A little push their and ends up on her back. Quite a heavy

:58:02.:58:09.

landing, actually. The coach is just getting his opinion across. It is

:58:10.:58:13.

Russia who have got the player advantage here because the French

:58:14.:58:20.

are now six, trying to wriggle in. Another chance from the seven metre

:58:21.:58:31.

line for Vyakhireva. She also caught her our medical bit. Well done

:58:32.:58:44.

Bobrovnikova. The Russian goalkeeper has saved only one penalty. Four

:58:45.:58:56.

from four so far. 60 minutes played. France 3-5 Russia in the gold-medal

:58:57.:58:59.

match here. After a great favour last time from Leynaud, nowhere near

:59:00.:59:09.

getting that one. Bags come France they have changed now on the left

:59:10.:59:18.

wing. Demebele has been replaced after the captain only scored one

:59:19.:59:29.

from three. Prouvensier is coming back round. A three throw.

:59:30.:59:47.

Francois can bring on the seventh player, and there is the effort from

:59:48.:59:55.

Demebele. Ambitious, more than anything. Maybe it would have helped

:59:56.:00:00.

to have waited a couple of seconds. -- there is the effort from

:00:01.:00:10.

Prouvensier. Rattled into the back of the net, a thumbs up because

:00:11.:00:17.

Russia now have a 3-goal advantage. Russia 3-6 -- Russia 6-3 France.

:00:18.:00:25.

Russia are moving quickly from one side to the other. France comeback

:00:26.:00:35.

trailing 3-6 in the 18th minute of the final in the Rio 2016 women's

:00:36.:00:41.

handball competition. Deep defence by the Russians waiting at nine

:00:42.:00:47.

metres. For France, Pineau is back after being wounded in an earlier

:00:48.:00:50.

incident. She seems none the worse for it. She is a veteran playmaker.

:00:51.:00:55.

Here she comes. Haven't quite managed to exert her authority on

:00:56.:01:02.

the game. Neither has Lacrabere. That is a penalty. She wish after

:01:03.:01:18.

she came through. There it was. Vyakhireva trying to intercept, but

:01:19.:01:27.

to no avail. Up starts Pineau. Pineau converts it. The first

:01:28.:01:31.

penalty of the match for France. Pineau find a way past Pineau in the

:01:32.:01:43.

goal. Tucked it into the bottle right -- to write and Pineau scores.

:01:44.:01:48.

Russia 6- forefront with just 11 minutes to go in this first half.

:01:49.:01:57.

Incomes Bliznova. Hands it over to Bobrovnikova who we haven't seen

:01:58.:02:04.

much of. She has scored 27 goals in the tournament so far. It was

:02:05.:02:13.

Marennikova who was brought down, and another penalty for Russia.

:02:14.:02:17.

Marennikova is normally a wing player but she has been used it on

:02:18.:02:21.

the line quite a few times by the Russian coach. They still win the

:02:22.:02:30.

penalty and Ilina comes once more to the metre line. A top corner.

:02:31.:02:39.

Started to go down, Ilina knew nothing about that one. Put away

:02:40.:02:43.

very nicely. The second penalty score. The keeper goes down and

:02:44.:02:48.

offers her the top spot. Ilina says, thank you, I will do it. Well played

:02:49.:03:06.

by Ilina. France resume. Pineau has switched her left back position. The

:03:07.:03:12.

shot is just not ranged at all. We are past the 20 minute mark in the

:03:13.:03:16.

final. For Russia, so far so good. Not a lot of goals for them. But

:03:17.:03:21.

they managed to score seven times. More to the point, they have

:03:22.:03:24.

restricted France to just four goals in 20 minutes.

:03:25.:03:36.

Lots of changes by Russia at the back and they do have an

:03:37.:03:43.

embarrassment of choices. Bobrovnikova is the one who has come

:03:44.:03:47.

on now. A long-range shot of the post, but it has comeback for Russia

:03:48.:03:56.

on the rebound. Bliznova! But we have players lying inside and the

:03:57.:03:59.

whistle is blowing. The referee waves everybody out. Here is the

:04:00.:04:04.

incident again. Two going for the ball. Bliznova has been brought

:04:05.:04:16.

down. Frustration for Russia because they looked to be in a good position

:04:17.:04:24.

out on the right wing. But with the body lying around there were no

:04:25.:04:31.

defenders. France are defending big and defending strong at the moment.

:04:32.:04:40.

And the arm is up. Friends only have six passes and they have had a

:04:41.:04:43.

couple of those already. -- France only have six passes. Time-out is

:04:44.:04:54.

called by the Russians. Let's see what Trefilov has displayed to his

:04:55.:04:55.

team. Three goals up. So, the French coach looking to

:04:56.:05:39.

shuffle his players around a little bit. Telling them to make sure they

:05:40.:05:44.

work in their line, keep to their line of attack. Driving in on each

:05:45.:05:50.

side rather than across into each of the's way. Play is still running for

:05:51.:05:58.

the Russians may have used up some of the six passes allowed after the

:05:59.:06:02.

referee's and goes up. They know they have got to shoot soon. This

:06:03.:06:07.

may eat up one more pass, then the Russians will end up with one

:06:08.:06:13.

passing shot. Lacrabere stares at the referee, trying to will her to

:06:14.:06:21.

count one extra pass. He is still worried about a faulty substitution

:06:22.:06:33.

that! Look at this. A big smile from the captain. Russia with a four goal

:06:34.:06:40.

advantage. It comes France. It is saved by the feet of Erokhina.

:06:41.:06:53.

Niombia try to make something to happen. Niombia just a little bit

:06:54.:06:59.

behind Pineau, but she manages to get there anyway. Penalty given.

:07:00.:07:06.

Russia disagree with that decision, but there we go. A bit of a push. I

:07:07.:07:11.

think our argument was with her team-mates saying, why did no one

:07:12.:07:15.

call it? She has got to mark a back player and now she is having to

:07:16.:07:27.

track Pineau. Lacrabere to take it. Pineau who has just come into goal

:07:28.:07:32.

tries to save it, but Lacrabere stays cool. She has taken 23 minutes

:07:33.:07:40.

for that. She waits for her to commit herself, then between arm and

:07:41.:07:43.

leg. We need more from Lacrabere now. Finally off the mark. There

:07:44.:07:55.

comes Vyakhireva. A free-throw given. Russia still with the ball,

:07:56.:08:06.

here they come. A long shot. Saved again by Leynaud. Now France try and

:08:07.:08:11.

come forward with them pace. Back inside to Pineau. Pineau is out on

:08:12.:08:24.

the right wing. What a good game Leynaud is having, though. Leynaud

:08:25.:08:29.

is certainly influential for France, and keeping them in contention. The

:08:30.:08:37.

Russians are dropping slightly. France are upping the tempo again as

:08:38.:08:38.

they look for options on the line. Niombia has returned. Marennikova

:08:39.:09:03.

gives away the free-throw. The whistle has gone, they will have

:09:04.:09:06.

two, all the way back. It is a free-throw France. A delayed whistle

:09:07.:09:20.

by the Norwegian referees. I penalty! Well, she was having to

:09:21.:09:24.

turn her whole body. She was running away from the goal, trying to turn

:09:25.:09:30.

in midair. I she did so, she was caught awkwardly. France have a

:09:31.:09:34.

penalty. She managed to get past and did very well. She engineered

:09:35.:09:39.

something out of almost nothing there. Trefilov, well, need we say

:09:40.:09:48.

more? Now, France get the gap back to two

:09:49.:10:04.

goals and for the next two minute they will have a player advantage.

:10:05.:10:09.

If they can withstand this Russian attack, that is what it means to

:10:10.:10:14.

Lacrabere, in her third Olympic Games.

:10:15.:10:19.

With a short-handed Russians, the French are defending. A free throw,

:10:20.:10:24.

they thought they surely they had the break. Quina is still shaking

:10:25.:10:28.

her head. The bench are saying, forget it. -- Pinot macro. --

:10:29.:10:46.

Pineau. Lacrabere did well. She will go back

:10:47.:10:52.

for the free throw. A clear shot on goal otherwise.

:10:53.:11:01.

Shouldering first. Aygion-Saurina rightly going back.

:11:02.:11:05.

A good block by Kuznetsova macro in the way.

:11:06.:11:09.

Nicely played into the wing. The wing problems with France continue,

:11:10.:11:15.

this time on the left side. Dembele comes up, short-sighted.

:11:16.:11:24.

I think the goalkeeper is almost as bright as everyone else.

:11:25.:11:30.

It's just logged slowly over her shoulder. Almost sent by second

:11:31.:11:38.

class post. Landre finds the back of the net,

:11:39.:11:43.

her first goal of the net. 17 of the Competition Commission in the fifth

:11:44.:11:48.

of France. France back within one goal, they have taken good advantage

:11:49.:11:50.

of the power play. The ball has gone out. France have

:11:51.:11:56.

the opportunity to come forward and try and draw level. Three minutes to

:11:57.:12:01.

go in the first half. Complete lapse of attention from the

:12:02.:12:05.

Russians, five turnovers. They seemed to have control over the

:12:06.:12:09.

game, forcing the pace. Their attacks very fluid.

:12:10.:12:14.

Now they have lost the initiative. Time out called by on this occasion.

:12:15.:12:56.

Krumbholz macro saying you have to force it over the six metre line.

:12:57.:13:05.

-- Krumbholz. Reminding them that the goalkeeper is going down very

:13:06.:13:08.

quickly, especially when the French players are under pressure taking

:13:09.:13:13.

the shot. They are more likely to shoot lower

:13:14.:13:17.

than high. Just under three minutes remaining

:13:18.:13:21.

in this first half. What a fascinating first half, relatively

:13:22.:13:25.

low scoring as far as Russia are concerned.

:13:26.:13:30.

As far as general handball games, you can usually expect a half-time

:13:31.:13:34.

score may be upwards of ten for each side.

:13:35.:13:38.

Pineau, a long shot, battling the bar. What an opportunity for France

:13:39.:13:46.

to draw level. Russia on the counter, to the left, back inside

:13:47.:13:50.

for Dmitri Abery. Russia slowing down to turn over their players.

:13:51.:13:54.

Seven players allowed on the court at any time.

:13:55.:14:01.

Dittrich Reeva trying to drive it herself. She is heavily felled.

:14:02.:14:17.

Going to the wing, Kuznetsova, brilliantly played. Taking the pace

:14:18.:14:27.

away. The 29-year-old, look at the rest. Just lifts over.

:14:28.:14:39.

They could have gone level and France now find themselves two goals

:14:40.:14:45.

down. Russia converting 53% of their

:14:46.:14:49.

efforts, only 41% for France. A shriek of pain as she went down.

:14:50.:15:01.

Landre things there was an elbow. Couldn't really see too much

:15:02.:15:03.

untoward. There certainly wasn't an elbow.

:15:04.:15:13.

Getting a little worked up, maybe. France are lucky.

:15:14.:15:22.

With one minute and ten seconds remaining in the first half, Russia

:15:23.:15:29.

are on the attack with a two goal lead.

:15:30.:15:37.

Lacrabere has moved out wide. A lot of the problems, looking for the

:15:38.:15:45.

wing, no way this time. The vetch right backs Aygion-Saurina and

:15:46.:15:51.

Lacrabere go flying together, both in their third Olympic Games.

:15:52.:16:00.

Zhilinkskayte in the right back position.

:16:01.:16:04.

30 seconds remaining. Passive play being warned. A good

:16:05.:16:11.

save. A throw into the Russians. Fortune it is for them.

:16:12.:16:19.

Bliznova looks for the line. A quick look at the clock. Ten seconds.

:16:20.:16:33.

That is perfect. Impeccable timing by the Russians. Almost on the

:16:34.:16:39.

stroke of half-time, Sen scoring her first goal. And stretching Russia's

:16:40.:16:52.

lead. A look at that goal again. Scoring her 15th goal of the

:16:53.:16:57.

tournament so far. Giving Russia a 3-goal advantage at half-time.

:16:58.:17:04.

STUDIO: France have work to do but Russian coach will be happy. They

:17:05.:17:08.

lead at half-time, coverage continues online if you would bite

:17:09.:17:14.

to follow it to its conclusion. This is what we have coming up this

:17:15.:17:19.

evening. We have two taekwondo quarterfinals

:17:20.:17:26.

featuring British athletes. Then the diving in full on Red Button.

:17:27.:17:34.

And Brazil play Germany, starting at 938 -- 9:30pm, starting on BBC Four.

:17:35.:17:50.

Currently on the Red Button, the modern Caplin. Great Britain are in

:17:51.:17:56.

bronze medal position. We will be showing you the best of

:17:57.:18:11.

that show-jumping phase later on. there. Trefilov, well, need we say

:18:12.:18:21.

more? I had some fans, to me earlier who

:18:22.:18:28.

were dressed in the full regalia of union Jack. They said everywhere

:18:29.:18:34.

they go people were stopping them to say how well Team GB are going. It

:18:35.:18:38.

is sometimes the surprising gold medallist that give you as much

:18:39.:18:42.

pleasure as the ones that were anticipated and built up. We had one

:18:43.:18:46.

such earlier today in the men's kayak. It is a 200 metres sprint,

:18:47.:18:52.

all about a fast start. Just keep powering through, and that is what

:18:53.:18:53.

Liam Heath did. COMMENTATOR: very exciting down here

:18:54.:19:05.

at the Lagoa, the men's K1 200 metres. In lane five you can see

:19:06.:19:12.

Liam Heath of Great Britain. He is the sizzling hot favourite for this

:19:13.:19:17.

event. Watch out for Liam Heath, not the best of starts. He is forth from

:19:18.:19:21.

this side and he is looking to repeat Britain's success. In lane

:19:22.:19:26.

four, Maxime Beaumont of France has the lead at the moment. It is the

:19:27.:19:32.

closing stage. Heath cuts through, but he has work to do. 70 metres to

:19:33.:19:39.

go. Still Liam Heath is driving. Now he starts to edge forward as Maxime

:19:40.:19:44.

Beaumont of France fades. We have another 15 metres to go. He has got

:19:45.:19:51.

to stay strong. The gold goes to Liam Heath! He came here as the

:19:52.:19:56.

favourite, he will leave Rio as the Olympic champion and the most

:19:57.:19:59.

successful British Olympic paddler of all time. He has a gold, a silver

:20:00.:20:05.

and a bronze to his collection. He leapt from seven up to first in the

:20:06.:20:09.

tally of British paddlers. A sensational run. Liam Heath has a

:20:10.:20:17.

gold, a silver and a bronze. What a collection! From Ilford, moved to

:20:18.:20:22.

Maidenhead. Britain's number one star and the most successful Olympic

:20:23.:20:26.

paddler that Great Britain have ever had.

:20:27.:20:31.

Wonderful scenes down there at the kayak sprinting. Liam Heath provided

:20:32.:20:39.

Great Britain with their 25th gold medal. Nicola Adams has taken that

:20:40.:20:44.

total to 26. It seems like ages ago but Justin Rose became the first

:20:45.:20:48.

British Olympic golf champion. Today the women's competition, it a two

:20:49.:20:55.

tee start because of bad weather. Charley Hull was desperate to make

:20:56.:20:58.

it into a medal position. She finished eight under, just outside

:20:59.:21:03.

the medals, tied for seventh. Gold went to Inbee Park of South Korea,

:21:04.:21:09.

the seven time Major winner. She won by five shots. She was out on her

:21:10.:21:21.

own in front. The women's triathlon took place. When Jorgenson of the

:21:22.:21:25.

USA broke away from defending champion Nicola Spirig of

:21:26.:21:29.

Switzerland during the run to claim gold. The Brattle for bronze was not

:21:30.:21:35.

just between team-mates flatmates. -- the battle. Vicky Holland said

:21:36.:21:38.

she felt guilty that she sprinted through to the bronze ahead of Non

:21:39.:21:43.

Stanford to win a first ever triathlon medal for Great Britain.

:21:44.:21:48.

It means also there are six medals available in triathlon and Great

:21:49.:21:52.

Britain have taken three with the Brownlee is taking gold and silver

:21:53.:21:55.

yesterday. The first time a nation has ever done that. Last night saw

:21:56.:22:00.

the final ever appearance of Usain Bolt at an Olympic Games. He

:22:01.:22:06.

completed the triple trouble and put up a message on social media which

:22:07.:22:11.

involves all of those gold medals. He realised the enormity of what he

:22:12.:22:16.

has achieved. But what will life be after Bolt for track and field?

:22:17.:22:23.

COMMENTATOR: it is gold again! History, history, history. Usain

:22:24.:22:29.

Bolt. What on earth are we going to do without him?

:22:30.:22:35.

The first time I heard about Bolt he was delayed teenager. He was already

:22:36.:22:39.

running fast times. There was a very good chance that he could be one of

:22:40.:22:43.

the best. It wasn't until 2008 I just thought, OK, this is something

:22:44.:22:50.

we have never even seen before. Usain Bolt has blown them all away!

:22:51.:23:00.

He is waving and telling jokes, smiling, he changed the sport in a

:23:01.:23:07.

way which has made it more friendly, approachable. Now it is party time.

:23:08.:23:15.

Usain Bolt has transcended track and field. He enjoyed the spectacle. It

:23:16.:23:21.

really captures people. They want to see him. They want to be him.

:23:22.:23:26.

The first time I was in the same race with him was in Moscow. He is

:23:27.:23:30.

such a presence. You see his charisma and want to emulate that.

:23:31.:23:35.

It is difficult to put in perspective what his impact has

:23:36.:23:39.

been. The sport has done such a poor job of promoting itself, and such a

:23:40.:23:46.

poor job of policing itself that Usain Bolt has stood apart. Good to

:23:47.:23:50.

him. Otherwise the sport would probably have dragged him down.

:23:51.:23:57.

We all owe him a massive debt of gratitude. Our sport has been going

:23:58.:24:01.

through perhaps its most difficult time. Without Usain Bolt, the sport

:24:02.:24:06.

would have been in a worse position. He could have walked away,

:24:07.:24:10.

definitely, he could have gone after London. He didn't have to come to

:24:11.:24:13.

Glasgow. He certainly did not need to come to

:24:14.:24:16.

Beijing. COMMENTATOR: Usain Bolt has saved

:24:17.:24:24.

his title, his reputation, he may even have saved the sport.

:24:25.:24:29.

When he retires, there will be someone else.

:24:30.:24:38.

We'll that be someone he can hand on the baton to immediately question

:24:39.:24:41.

probably not. He is the greatest of all time. The

:24:42.:24:46.

things he has done is what our mind blowing.

:24:47.:24:49.

He will be dearly missed. The sport has to think what they do

:24:50.:24:53.

with him, they can't have him walk away and never be seen again. The

:24:54.:24:57.

responsibility lies with Sebastian Coates and his team to find a role

:24:58.:25:01.

where the sport can benefit from the pleasure Usain Bolt has given us

:25:02.:25:03.

all. This sport will survive. It just

:25:04.:25:09.

will have to be really smart how it sells the stars it has.

:25:10.:25:14.

He will be replaced in terms of titles, the character will never be

:25:15.:25:16.

replaced. The Muhammad Ali of our sport,

:25:17.:25:21.

winning in a way people loved him for it and which makes more people

:25:22.:25:23.

watch. That makes him the greatest. While last night might have been his

:25:24.:25:33.

last it's -- appearance on the track, we will see his medal

:25:34.:25:34.

ceremony tonight. This is the 80 kilograms contest,

:25:35.:25:45.

let's see how Mohammed Choe gets on. Anything could happen. Let us hand

:25:46.:25:48.

you over to commentary. Sensors on top of their head.

:25:49.:26:12.

An open stance here. Mohammed Choe, leaning back, he knows about the

:26:13.:26:20.

strength of Mardani. Who loves to go with that up to the head.

:26:21.:26:36.

Mahama Cho has something to prove here, having lost in the last two

:26:37.:26:42.

encounters. Try to put that front leg in, right

:26:43.:26:49.

foot in front. Nothing doing on the scoreboard, stalemate.

:26:50.:26:54.

Try in the back kick 3-pointer and he scores a perfect position and

:26:55.:26:59.

timing. The school board makes good reading.

:27:00.:27:03.

A cracking kick. Three points.

:27:04.:27:25.

The footwork from Cherry with excellent. Moving out of the way,

:27:26.:27:48.

staying out of reach. -- from Cho. Conrad Jenkins, the Centre referee,

:27:49.:27:55.

telling them to get on with it. Into the last ten seconds in terms of a

:27:56.:27:59.

start here. It has been very good. Before Muhammed choke. Can Sajjad

:28:00.:28:06.

Mardani finish strongly? -- hammer choke. The end of the first round.

:28:07.:28:14.

Mahama Cho from Great Britain. An excellent start there. Mahama Cho is

:28:15.:28:29.

looking very calm and collected. Messages from both coaches. The

:28:30.:28:35.

British coach wanting Mahama Cho to dictate the pace. That technique

:28:36.:28:39.

certainly dictate the outcome at the moment. That's right, the back kick

:28:40.:28:44.

to the body will certainly score three points. Just a normal quick to

:28:45.:28:50.

the body would normally score one. -- normal kick. The increased level

:28:51.:28:55.

of difficulty gives him two. It was that on the board for Mardani. Tense

:28:56.:29:07.

times here. The lion's share of that Ron was for Mahama Cho against

:29:08.:29:09.

Sajjad Mardani. The winner of this will be one step

:29:10.:29:25.

closer to Olympic medals. They shout to intimidate their opponents, but

:29:26.:29:29.

also to let energy out as they throw the big kicks. The big score on the

:29:30.:29:40.

board for the Britain in red. Massive tension here. Tries with the

:29:41.:29:45.

punch. Slips over, Mahama Cho. Caught between and ends up on the

:29:46.:29:50.

mat. The first kyong-go against Mahama Cho. Two of those and he

:29:51.:29:54.

loses a point. He needs to be careful. You can't lose

:29:55.:30:04.

concentration here. A little glimmer of light for Mahama Cho with that

:30:05.:30:09.

yellow card on the board. -- a little glimmer of light for Sajjad

:30:10.:30:16.

Mardani. Just trying to use that front like to defend. Needs to go

:30:17.:30:27.

the opposite foot forward. Mardani just leans back, manages to get the

:30:28.:30:31.

head out of the way. But that was very close. The head is worth three

:30:32.:30:33.

points. Plenty of support for Sajjad Mardani

:30:34.:30:48.

him the Carioca Arena 3. In the combat corner in Rio. Mahama Cho

:30:49.:30:54.

hasn't cornered at the moment using that front like, just to ward off

:30:55.:30:57.

the distance. Patients has been rewarded though far. 30 seconds left

:30:58.:31:04.

in the second round. Do you commit? Do you stick? Try the game without

:31:05.:31:08.

backing. Almost leaves a space for the chop. Conrad Jenkins pulling it

:31:09.:31:17.

back here. 3-2, the score. Still in favour of Mahama Cho. He needs to

:31:18.:31:21.

really pick this up and try to find another score at the end of this

:31:22.:31:26.

second round. The attempt at the body shots doesn't pay off. Into the

:31:27.:31:32.

last five seconds of that second round. It has been better far for

:31:33.:31:41.

the Iranian, Sajjad Mardani. Talk about patience, he knows Mahama

:31:42.:31:45.

Cho's game plan now. The man from Iran is working hard. Yes, he is.

:31:46.:31:54.

Just playing more into his strengths, trying to dictate the

:31:55.:31:58.

pace of this fight, control it. Trying to put Mahama Cho under

:31:59.:32:04.

pressure. One round remaining. It could be something as simple as they

:32:05.:32:08.

had shot here that really turns the game. It is all to play for, an

:32:09.:32:16.

Olympic semifinal is at stake. The man from Iran climbing back into

:32:17.:32:17.

this one. Last-minute instructions from the

:32:18.:32:35.

coaches. This could prove pivotal. An Olympic Games semifinal beckons.

:32:36.:32:44.

The men's plus 80 kilograms quarterfinal contest, Sajjad Mardani

:32:45.:32:48.

versus Mahama Cho. The British fighter is in red. You can guess

:32:49.:32:51.

what colour the Iranian fighter is in. Into the middle, I too I. One

:32:52.:33:02.

point separating them. -- eye to eye. Quick footwork for Mardani as

:33:03.:33:06.

he tries to shuffle round to look for a gap.

:33:07.:33:12.

Taekwondo is all about gathering that space, trying to bridge that

:33:13.:33:20.

gap. Separated by their collective ambition. Who is going to fire the

:33:21.:33:22.

shots through? Mardani prepared to come forwards.

:33:23.:33:35.

Both fighters covering each other so well. The scores are still at 3-2.

:33:36.:33:42.

The footwork and balance are so critical from both fighters right

:33:43.:33:47.

now. I think we're going to see a little video replay card here. From

:33:48.:33:53.

who and for what, we're not sure. Conrad Jenkins was checking in

:33:54.:33:57.

there. Just a little noise in the background. Checked out what it was.

:33:58.:34:07.

The noise levels are raving here. Back kicks, turning kickabout. They

:34:08.:34:12.

fight is beginning to bubble and here. Mahama Cho, less than one

:34:13.:34:19.

minute to hang in here. Mardani, likewise to try and produce

:34:20.:34:23.

something special. Tensions are hotting up. You can see the focus in

:34:24.:34:30.

the eyes with the occasional glance to the scoreboard after they've

:34:31.:34:33.

attempted to attack. Still both so hesitant.

:34:34.:34:39.

30 seconds in the third try. That front like to the body. Mahama Cho

:34:40.:34:48.

is in the ascendancy, but it is not insurmountable. He tries the big

:34:49.:34:52.

power punch. It does score. You can hear that in the back of the arena.

:34:53.:35:03.

He gets a little kyong-go for holding. The Jamaican referee

:35:04.:35:07.

doesn't like it. Sharp eyes from the referee, he sees it. The last ten

:35:08.:35:13.

seconds, goes for I had shot. Mahama Cho almost scores there. There is a

:35:14.:35:17.

headshot in return from Sajjad Mardani. Hits the back of the head,

:35:18.:35:24.

doesn't score. Tries of the defence, falls down. The kyong-go is going to

:35:25.:35:31.

prove so important here. Into the dying stages, the Olympic Games

:35:32.:35:35.

semifinal at stake. Do you go, do you stay? He was going to move into

:35:36.:35:40.

the semifinal? We will move into the golden point round. Yet again, the

:35:41.:35:45.

fourth round is being called on. How intense was that? I thought for a

:35:46.:35:50.

second Mardani had the headshot just a little short. Then Mahama Cho

:35:51.:35:56.

going to ground, giving away that kyong-go. How critical was that? It

:35:57.:36:02.

levelled the scores. What a performance from Mahama Cho. He has

:36:03.:36:07.

fought against Mardani before. He has never won. He is really taking

:36:08.:36:12.

the fight here. He must be able to sense a victory. Likewise, Mardani

:36:13.:36:16.

must be feeling the pressure but has the confidence to know that he has

:36:17.:36:20.

beaten Mahama Cho when two occasions previously. This was that punch.

:36:21.:36:25.

Credit to the referee, that was holding on the other side. Conrad

:36:26.:36:32.

Jenkins. I tell a lie, that looked like a perfectly clean punch. Unless

:36:33.:36:36.

he grabbed a leg. Regardless, we move on into the golden score. The

:36:37.:36:43.

men's plus 80 kilograms quarterfinal, Sajjad Mardani from

:36:44.:36:48.

Iran. Mahama Cho, the man from Great Britain. Whoever scores first, be it

:36:49.:36:55.

a kick or a punch, who will be smiling? Mardani or Cho?

:36:56.:37:04.

Massive tension, massive opportunity. Grabs a leg again,

:37:05.:37:11.

Mahama Cho, on the blindside of the referee. Tactics and timing required

:37:12.:37:17.

from Mardani. Tries the front like, pushes it out. Huge tension here.

:37:18.:37:23.

The distance between the two is quite noticeable. That's right. By

:37:24.:37:29.

going to have to move was that if they will register contact, but at

:37:30.:37:32.

the same time they want to stay out of reach. Mahama Cho was just out of

:37:33.:37:38.

reach. Only just. He managed to skip backwards. Into this open stance

:37:39.:37:44.

again, trying to draw the opponents forward. The opportunity is massive.

:37:45.:38:01.

The back kick is so close. I back kick from the Iranian, Sajjad

:38:02.:38:04.

Mardani. If it doesn't go to a proper skier it will be who has

:38:05.:38:08.

kicked the protected the most. -- a proper score.

:38:09.:38:16.

One shot for the Olympic Games semifinal. Mahama Cho in red, Sajjad

:38:17.:38:24.

Mardani in blue. Who will be into the semifinal? 30 seconds to decide.

:38:25.:38:31.

Both fighters are desperately trying to cover their pants. They don't

:38:32.:38:35.

want the opposition to make contact too often. -- cover their pads.

:38:36.:38:43.

Massive tension now. The golden point. You can get into the Olympic

:38:44.:38:51.

Games semifinal? One shot for victory. It is indeed Mahama Cho! He

:38:52.:38:58.

steals a semifinal spot. He was patient, he was precise. And now

:38:59.:39:06.

he's into the semifinal. Concentration was the key. Mahama

:39:07.:39:12.

Cho of Great Britain made us wait for it. Mardani, vested. Cho,

:39:13.:39:19.

successful. The man in red is into the heavyweight Olympic semifinal.

:39:20.:39:27.

STUDIO: That was hugely dramatic, through to a semifinal that will

:39:28.:39:34.

take place at 9:45pm your time tonight.

:39:35.:39:37.

Much later denied he may be in the gold fight.

:39:38.:39:40.

Here is a guide. Taekwondo originates in Korea and

:39:41.:39:55.

combines compact and self defence techniques. It became a fully

:39:56.:40:00.

fledged Olympic sport in Sydney in 2000 each contest has three rounds

:40:01.:40:04.

of two minutes and a competitor can win on points or if their opponent

:40:05.:40:08.

is unable to continue. Points are awarded for accurate blows to the

:40:09.:40:14.

head or body. Attacks to the body can be made using a fist or foot but

:40:15.:40:18.

an athlete can only use their feet to strike the area above the

:40:19.:40:20.

collarbone. Punches to the head and attacks to

:40:21.:40:25.

the spine are not allowed. The only techniques permitted our kicks where

:40:26.:40:30.

an athlete uses the area of the foot below the ankle, and punches using

:40:31.:40:34.

the knuckle part of a tightly clenched fist. Scoring depends on

:40:35.:40:38.

where or how an athlete has attacked. One point for a valid

:40:39.:40:44.

attack to the protector. If it is a tanning or reverse hit it is worth

:40:45.:40:48.

three points. Three points for a legal kicks to the head. A tanning

:40:49.:40:54.

kick achieves the maximum, four points. At the end, the competitor

:40:55.:41:00.

with the most points wins. In the event of a tie, a golden point time

:41:01.:41:07.

round is held. A sport at which Great Britain are

:41:08.:41:12.

really good. Jade Jones has retained her title. Earlier, I spoke to

:41:13.:41:17.

Lutalo Muhammad. Nick Hope has become something of an expert and he

:41:18.:41:22.

is ringside if that is what we call it.

:41:23.:41:28.

Matt sighed. Waiting for Bianca Walkden to come on. She has a big

:41:29.:41:39.

chance. -- mat side. Bianca was the world champion last

:41:40.:41:43.

year and has an incredible back story. She missed out on 2012 and

:41:44.:41:48.

did not know whether she would continue because she suffered a bad

:41:49.:41:52.

knee ligament injury. She had another cruciate ligament injury and

:41:53.:41:58.

somehow came back. She goes into this competition with an excellent

:41:59.:42:10.

chance of winning a medal you saw Mahama Cho who came through on a

:42:11.:42:13.

golden point. Bianca Walkden is hoping to advance

:42:14.:42:19.

to the semifinals of the heavyweight women's.

:42:20.:42:19.

She is champion. In terms of injury and difficulty to

:42:20.:42:34.

get here. Here she is. What an opponent, Matic, a fantastic fighter

:42:35.:42:35.

in her own right. Walkden trying to take control of

:42:36.:43:01.

the centre of the mat. This is about finding that range.

:43:02.:43:06.

Bianca Walkden is going straight in, testing that range. Great footwork

:43:07.:43:10.

from Mandic, staying far enough out of range and blocking.

:43:11.:43:16.

Wharton did well to stay on her feet.

:43:17.:43:18.

No mean feat for either fighter to get through this one.

:43:19.:43:27.

Mandic shuffling forward but forced to retreat.

:43:28.:43:33.

Here in the Carioca Arena in downtown Rio. Trying to shoot down

:43:34.:43:40.

stairs with these body shots, Wharton. A little punch that as

:43:41.:43:42.

well. -- Walkden. You can tell the concentration from

:43:43.:44:00.

Mandic. You can see her eyeing up her

:44:01.:44:05.

opponent. No lapse in concentration, so important to stay focused. Nice

:44:06.:44:10.

blocking from Bianca Walkden. Countering it.

:44:11.:44:14.

Waiting to score some points. This is on a knife edge, tense times

:44:15.:44:20.

here. Less than 30 left in the first.

:44:21.:44:27.

Either -- neither fighter committing at the moment.

:44:28.:44:28.

Well blocked. Somewhat tentative from Walkden,

:44:29.:44:41.

understandable given the occasion. Ten seconds left in the first. There

:44:42.:44:50.

is the first point on the board, Bianca Walkden finds it with the

:44:51.:44:53.

push kick just in time. Perfect timing just before the

:44:54.:45:00.

break. How critical was that? Putting doubt in Mandic's mind.

:45:01.:45:13.

Giving some encouragement here. We heard Paul Green saying, you are

:45:14.:45:18.

doing brilliant, Paul Green was an Olympian in Athens.

:45:19.:45:21.

Jade Jones and Bianca Walkden credit him with their development.

:45:22.:45:26.

This was developing into a really good contest.

:45:27.:45:31.

Walkden trying to get the leg over the top to make contact with the

:45:32.:45:35.

head, doesn't come off. Her defence of work has been so

:45:36.:45:38.

good. It doesn't take much to separate

:45:39.:45:45.

them. That push kick. The women's quarterfinal, Mellica

:45:46.:45:58.

Mandic from Serbia, Olympic champion from London. World champion Bianca

:45:59.:46:03.

Walkden from Great Britain, had to overcome serious knee injuries on

:46:04.:46:10.

both legs. She is a real fighter and that tenacity is so important.

:46:11.:46:16.

Mandic is only one point down. Back leg tanning kick, couldn't get

:46:17.:46:22.

the distance right. -- turning kick.

:46:23.:46:30.

At the moment, Walkden controlling the fight.

:46:31.:46:33.

Mandic under pressure. Moving to the edge of the ring.

:46:34.:46:44.

Concentration from Bianca Walkden impeccable.

:46:45.:46:51.

Is that eating away at the confidence of Mandic.

:46:52.:47:01.

You can see exactly from this view the distance between them, just

:47:02.:47:04.

millimetres missing. Mandic again on the front foot.

:47:05.:47:08.

Certainly no shortage of effort. Walkden clearly comfortable on both

:47:09.:47:22.

legs. Switching her stance, now an open stance, enticing Mandic in.

:47:23.:47:29.

I think we will see the video replay card from the British.

:47:30.:47:36.

Paul Green asking for a 3-point kick to the face, this could be crucial.

:47:37.:47:47.

The coach requesting a 3-point faith kick. Let us look, any contact?

:47:48.:48:01.

The bottom of the chain maybe? -- chin.

:48:02.:48:08.

Let us listen. Again.

:48:09.:48:17.

They are looking at the shots. It is unsuccessful. They have more

:48:18.:48:25.

than one angle to look. So, the card has now gone for this

:48:26.:48:29.

fight. Mellica Mandic back in contention.

:48:30.:48:35.

20 seconds left in the second. So little to choose between them.

:48:36.:48:41.

Walkden trying with a push kick. Mandic with the counter underneath.

:48:42.:48:49.

A battle of patients and position and a punch.

:48:50.:48:59.

As it catches the judges's eyes. Back to her coach, the Serbian.

:49:00.:49:06.

Bianca Walkden. Both cruciate ligaments in both legs, that is some

:49:07.:49:13.

tenacity to come back from that. It can knock your confidence, take

:49:14.:49:17.

you out of the sport for some time. Try to look at injuries as a

:49:18.:49:20.

positive. Perhaps the break was a good thing.

:49:21.:49:26.

She has come back, won the world title last year. And come to this

:49:27.:49:33.

Olympic Games in great condition. So close.

:49:34.:49:40.

It looks like contact there. Quite clear and specific.

:49:41.:49:55.

The same here. Mellica Mandic has been in this position before. The

:49:56.:49:59.

first Olympic Games for Walkden, defending Olympic champion from

:50:00.:50:03.

Serbia. The fighter in blue, only one point

:50:04.:50:09.

down. Trying with a straight leg first of

:50:10.:50:16.

all, Mandic. The shorter of them. Trying a back leg counter, Walkden

:50:17.:50:19.

gets one under the guard. Nice turning kicks to the body.

:50:20.:50:24.

She will be happy to pick off one point at a time.

:50:25.:50:31.

Trying again with the back leg turning kick.

:50:32.:50:41.

That two point gap, pressure on Mandic, looking a little ragged.

:50:42.:50:46.

Olympic champion. She knows how to pull it back. Walkden on the

:50:47.:50:58.

defence. The Serb on the attack. Getting closer.

:50:59.:51:05.

Walkden's covering is superior at the moment. Any attack, she is

:51:06.:51:15.

blocking. Countering. The last minute in the third.

:51:16.:51:24.

Not much steam on that punch. Nowhere near enough power to

:51:25.:51:28.

register. A punch to the body would give her one point.

:51:29.:51:38.

Walton is doing well with this defensive push kick. -- Walkden.

:51:39.:51:46.

Both fighters have been consistently engaged.

:51:47.:51:54.

You have two anticipate Mandic going to the head, she is two point down,

:51:55.:52:02.

a head shot with Big three. 20 seconds left. Bianca Walkden

:52:03.:52:06.

users that front leg against the mistakes one under the guard, a push

:52:07.:52:12.

kick, pushes her three points to the good.

:52:13.:52:18.

Mellica Mandic really putting on the pressure now. This has been an

:52:19.:52:22.

excellent performance. Avoiding the head shot. Pics of another one.

:52:23.:52:29.

Walkden closing in style. And Olympic semifinal, unchartered

:52:30.:52:33.

territory. What a fantastic move. Excellent

:52:34.:52:38.

stuff from Bianca Walkden. Mellica Mandic came in as Olympic

:52:39.:52:42.

champion. She leaves at the feet of Bianca

:52:43.:52:47.

Walkden of Great Britain into the semifinals.

:52:48.:52:56.

What a performance. STUDIO: That is a huge result. She

:52:57.:53:01.

has not at the reigning Olympic champion, she goes through to the

:53:02.:53:06.

last four, back in action in under one hour.

:53:07.:53:10.

Followed by Mahama Cho in his semifinal. We could yet have two

:53:11.:53:16.

more medals tonight in taekwondo. In case you were tuning in to watch

:53:17.:53:23.

the men's final of the ten metre platform final, there is no Tom

:53:24.:53:25.

Daley. He finished last. This is Qiu Bo,

:53:26.:53:32.

one of the top divers, silver medallist from London.

:53:33.:53:36.

Performing at the top of what you would expect from this level.

:53:37.:53:39.

Sensational stuff. It is on the Red Button. We will

:53:40.:53:45.

show you the best of it later. Updating you on handball, it is now

:53:46.:53:50.

online. Russia were leading at half-time.

:53:51.:54:02.

And 15-14, a narrow lead, with 12 minutes to go. Russia still in

:54:03.:54:07.

front, a new Olympic champion it would be.

:54:08.:54:12.

Available online. Currently on BBC Four is the final of the women's

:54:13.:54:16.

basketball and the USA who reign supreme in this sport a leading

:54:17.:54:23.

Spain 66-42. The Spanish captain was quoted as saying, we have to be

:54:24.:54:25.

realistic, we are there to enjoy it. In terms British action right now,

:54:26.:54:38.

although we predicted it to be in diving it is in fact in modern

:54:39.:54:43.

pentathlon. Very shortly will be seeing her Joseph Choong is getting

:54:44.:54:46.

in because he was in third place going into the riding section. They

:54:47.:54:52.

get a lot of horses they haven't met before. We will see that shortly

:54:53.:54:54.

after a guide to how it works. Modern pentathlon was introduced at

:54:55.:55:07.

the Stockholm games in 1912 and is the only sport specifically created

:55:08.:55:13.

for the Olympic Games. It involves 36 athletes competing in five

:55:14.:55:17.

disciplines. Fencing, swimming, horse riding, shooting and running

:55:18.:55:21.

with both men's and women's competitions taking place over two

:55:22.:55:26.

days. The total scores of the first three disciplines determined are

:55:27.:55:29.

starting positions for the final two combined events of shooting and

:55:30.:55:33.

running. The first person to cross the line at the end of the final

:55:34.:55:38.

event wins the gold medal. On day one athletes take place in the

:55:39.:55:41.

fencing round where everyone fences against each other with points

:55:42.:55:46.

awarded for every victory. The first event on day two is swimming where

:55:47.:55:49.

everyone takes part with points awarded based on times. Swimming is

:55:50.:55:55.

followed by a fencing bonus round where 36 athletes take part in 45

:55:56.:55:58.

second bounce. The horse riding events feeds competitors jumping 12

:55:59.:56:07.

-- sees competitors jumping 12 fences using a horse they have never

:56:08.:56:11.

ridden before. In the final event of running and shooting it is the

:56:12.:56:15.

athletes with the highest number of points which stop the event first.

:56:16.:56:18.

The remaining athletes with timed handicaps. The actual event includes

:56:19.:56:29.

800 metre intervals plus shooting. The gold medals go to the male and

:56:30.:56:32.

female athletes who crossed the line first.

:56:33.:56:37.

And so this is the scene at Deodoro this afternoon. It is not a very

:56:38.:56:43.

nice day, there has been a lot of rain. Jamie Cooke is well down the

:56:44.:56:51.

field. Joseph Choong is in third. We are picking up

:56:52.:57:03.

with horse riding. Commentary comes from Steph Cook and Eleanor Oldroyd.

:57:04.:57:11.

COMMENTATOR: Joe, like Jamie, has been working very well on his

:57:12.:57:27.

riding. This horse has a clear round with from Italy in the third round.

:57:28.:57:32.

Joe will be looking to repeat that here. -- with De Luca from Italy.

:57:33.:57:35.

Safely through the combination. Safe so far. We hardly dare breathe.

:57:36.:57:55.

Just add the final fences to go for Joe Choong. Just the final clatter.

:57:56.:58:07.

He said in order of preference he likes swimming, shooting, riding

:58:08.:58:11.

because it improves so much. He goes into first place in the competition

:58:12.:58:14.

with only two more pentathlete to go. 21-year-old Joe Choong has put

:58:15.:58:21.

himself in contention here in Rio. We just need him to have a really,

:58:22.:58:27.

really solid combined event. That is what we could ask for Joe Choong.

:58:28.:58:31.

That is a very, very good effort indeed. We saw Jimmy Maslin, I'm

:58:32.:58:36.

sure she will be pleased with that. El Geziry is currently ranked in

:58:37.:58:54.

second place. Just a reminder that what will happen is that when it

:58:55.:58:59.

comes to the combined event, the athlete who is ranked top will go

:59:00.:59:04.

off first and be first on to the shooting range. Then they will run

:59:05.:59:10.

at the loops of the stadium here. They will visit the shooting range

:59:11.:59:14.

four times with the aim of getting five clean hits as quickly as

:59:15.:59:18.

possible. Lots of things can change because the time you spend on the

:59:19.:59:22.

shooting range can vary hugely depending on how successful you are.

:59:23.:59:28.

The more shots UMIST, the more time it takes you. The moment, Omar El

:59:29.:59:45.

Geziry has got 14 faults. There is more. This will put Joe into even

:59:46.:59:56.

more contention for a medal. He's got some good combined athletes

:59:57.:59:57.

around him, though. This has not been kind to Omar El

:59:58.:00:18.

Geziry of Egypt. So, he will be dropping down the field as these

:00:19.:00:20.

fences go down. Just the final double to come. And

:00:21.:00:38.

he does it within the time, but that puts him in tenth place, Omar El

:00:39.:00:42.

Geziry. So, Joe Choong is still leading the competition. But that

:00:43.:00:49.

just shows how close it is. There is probably barely 30 seconds

:00:50.:00:52.

separating the first ten athletes which is nothing when it comes to

:00:53.:00:56.

this combined event which will be starting shortly after the riding

:00:57.:00:58.

event. One more pentathlete to go. This will be an important round

:00:59.:01:19.

coming up. We are now going to see Patrick Dogue. We have no idea how

:01:20.:01:23.

we have ended up with Patrick Dogue delaying. It is good news that he is

:01:24.:01:27.

OK. Maybe there was an issue with the horse? This is likely to be

:01:28.:01:42.

because if you remember, the previous contestant to have the same

:01:43.:01:46.

horse that Patrick Dogue was due to ride had a few problems with it. In

:01:47.:01:51.

actual fact, Patrick Dogue has taken the reserve horse. I imagine that

:01:52.:01:56.

that is why there has been a bit of a delay and he is jumping out of

:01:57.:02:07.

order. That is a fence down for Patrick Dogue. Would he have had a

:02:08.:02:12.

little bit of extra time to warm up? He wouldn't have been given extra

:02:13.:02:16.

time that it may have been given that it took longer to get the

:02:17.:02:19.

reserve horse from the stable and attacked up, so he missed his

:02:20.:02:23.

mounting time to be able to have the required 20 minutes before he was

:02:24.:02:28.

due in the ring. He would still only have had the 20 minutes and five

:02:29.:02:32.

practice fences but they are allowed. They are not given any

:02:33.:02:37.

extra time at all. But it looks as though his decision to take a

:02:38.:02:40.

reserve horse has certainly paid off there. Patrick Dogue was ranked

:02:41.:02:46.

fifth before this event. And the 12 faults for him. He goes into third

:02:47.:02:53.

place but it hasn't changed the order of the top. Joe Choong still

:02:54.:03:03.

leading with Amro El Geziry in second place.

:03:04.:03:25.

This is the final rider, Aleksander Lesun from Russia. He has had such a

:03:26.:03:38.

strong day. He was dominant in the fencing. 22nd in the swimming. But

:03:39.:03:44.

this was a very important round. All eyes in the British camp will be

:03:45.:03:49.

keeping an eye on Aleksander Lesun. Joe Choong is currently ranked in

:03:50.:03:54.

first place. Just the combined run and shoot to come. This is looking

:03:55.:03:59.

good so far for Aleksander Lesun. That point! He has also taken --

:04:00.:04:07.

until that point! He has also taken a reserve horse. That's a couple of

:04:08.:04:17.

rails. Aleksander Lesun was well out in the lead. There was certainly at

:04:18.:04:24.

least 20 seconds on him, the second placed athlete coming into the ride.

:04:25.:04:30.

Any rails but he has and will just bring him back towards the rest of

:04:31.:04:34.

the field and bring everybody else that bit more into contention for

:04:35.:04:36.

the gold medal. He is a multiple World Championship

:04:37.:04:48.

medallist, Aleksander Lesun. 21 faults into the final. He shakes his

:04:49.:04:55.

head, but he does go into first place. As things stand at the

:04:56.:05:02.

moment, Joe Choong of Great Britain is in second place and he will go

:05:03.:05:06.

off in the combined event nine seconds behind Aleksander Lesun with

:05:07.:05:17.

Ambro El Geziry in second place. Steph, Joe Choong is in with a real

:05:18.:05:22.

chance of a medal. A British man has never won an individual medal in

:05:23.:05:25.

modern pentathlon at an Olympic Games. He has got to keep his head

:05:26.:05:30.

when it comes to the shooting and the running as well. He is in there

:05:31.:05:34.

with some very experienced pentathlete. You can see the

:05:35.:05:38.

shooting range, and this is the ranking. That is the result of the

:05:39.:05:49.

riding. Iwamoto up there, but Joe Choong very handily placed. Just

:05:50.:05:52.

seven faults for pentathlon points. That is really not bad at all. He is

:05:53.:06:04.

in second place going into the combined run and shoot. Yesterday in

:06:05.:06:11.

the women's modern pentathlon, no medals at all. How likely is it that

:06:12.:06:22.

Joe Choong could bag one here? Hello, sorry, a little pause there.

:06:23.:06:30.

Joe Choong's medal prospects? He is second place just after that right.

:06:31.:06:35.

Fantastically placed, you've got to say. He picked up a penalty in the

:06:36.:06:39.

fencing in the preliminary round two days ago for a wire infringement.

:06:40.:06:44.

That, I hope, would be clawing away in the back of his mind. That was

:06:45.:06:50.

ten seconds. Without that, he would be leader. But, he is in the mix and

:06:51.:06:54.

nine seconds is not a lot to make up in the combined event of shooting

:06:55.:06:57.

and running which will come in an hour or so. In the lead up to this

:06:58.:07:03.

Olympics all the talk was about world number one Jamie Cooke. What

:07:04.:07:08.

has happened to him? He fenced terribly. He finished in 28 position

:07:09.:07:13.

in the fencing preliminary round. From that far back no matter how

:07:14.:07:16.

well you do on the following events it is very difficult to make up the

:07:17.:07:22.

ground. He swam brilliantly. He was the top swimmer. He had a solid

:07:23.:07:26.

ride. But I'm afraid he's just coming from too far back in the

:07:27.:07:30.

combined. It's very, very unlikely that we will see a medal for Jamie

:07:31.:07:35.

Cooke here. We will keep you up-to-date on the combined run

:07:36.:07:38.

shoot. It will be an exciting finish. Just to confirm the

:07:39.:07:46.

standings... Not much of an advantage over Joe Choong, and they

:07:47.:07:51.

stagger them. Lesun will start the run shoot first. You can see Jamie

:07:52.:07:59.

Cooke down in 16th place. If you were trying to make up time, you

:08:00.:08:06.

could do it. Samantha Murray and came up from fourth to take the

:08:07.:08:12.

silver medal in London. Brazil, obviously, have got problems ahead

:08:13.:08:15.

of them in terms of the hosting of the Paralympic games. You will be

:08:16.:08:19.

aware of the stories published at the moment about that. They had

:08:20.:08:23.

early problems with attendances here and with stadiums not ready. But

:08:24.:08:27.

overrule looking at the games on their performance that heading for

:08:28.:08:32.

their best ever medal tally. Rio itself, and the locals of Rio, this

:08:33.:08:36.

has been their response to being hosts of the Olympic Games.

:08:37.:08:57.

COMMENTATOR: Rafaela Silva of Brazil.

:08:58.:09:13.

She has the entire home ground behind her. What an amazing moment!

:09:14.:09:19.

Rafaela Silva wins gold. COMMENTATOR: Thiago Motta bags the

:09:20.:09:40.

silver. The new Olympic champion! -- Thiago bags the silver. Usain Bolt

:09:41.:09:56.

gets it. The odyssey continues. This is what it means to get an Olympic

:09:57.:09:59.

medal in front of your home crowd. The boy who grew up on the streets

:10:00.:10:16.

of Salvador has just been crowned Olympic champion. Brazil win their

:10:17.:10:19.

first medal in beach volleyball in the men's competition!

:10:20.:10:26.

The sites and sounds of Rio while the games have been hosted. More

:10:27.:10:51.

tomorrow with the closing ceremony. The action takes precedence. The

:10:52.:10:55.

men's final of the 10 m platform is under way. No Tom Daley in it. He

:10:56.:11:00.

didn't qualify for the final. This is Qiu Bo who took the Silver Medal

:11:01.:11:09.

in London. Just beaten over the line by David Boudia. He usually produces

:11:10.:11:15.

the most stunning dives. Let's join Leon Taylor and Bob Ballard.

:11:16.:11:24.

That could be the smoking gun, right there, that shows us that Qiu Bo is

:11:25.:11:31.

not going to win that Olympic gold that he narrowly missed out on four

:11:32.:11:39.

years ago. He has made a right bodge job on the finish this afternoon

:11:40.:11:42.

dive. By his standards, that is woeful. Oh, dear. That was more

:11:43.:11:53.

Chewbacca than Qiu Bo. He's not looking at the screen because he

:11:54.:11:57.

knows it's not good. It's not good in any way, shape or form. That puts

:11:58.:12:02.

him at the bottom of the standings. He's gone from second to 12th. Wow.

:12:03.:12:09.

You can't see this man screwing up, can you?

:12:10.:12:23.

He faulters ever so slightly. Wow. The door was wide-open then. Aisen

:12:24.:12:34.

Chen could have stamped his authority on this contest and left

:12:35.:12:38.

everyone in his wake. This is a huge dive. This is the first ever we've -

:12:39.:12:45.

I say it every time - I cannot believe the flexibility, that pike

:12:46.:12:49.

shape, his forehead is in line with his ankles, misses the diving board

:12:50.:12:53.

and misses his entry. Not as bad as Qiu Bo. Look at him slapping the

:12:54.:13:03.

water. So the end of the first round. Chen annoyed with himself

:13:04.:13:15.

because he's relinquished the lead. STUDIO: As in London, the Chinese

:13:16.:13:18.

favourites are feeling the pressure a bit. We pick up live coverage of

:13:19.:13:23.

this men's 10 m platform final. No Tom Daley and I should think he's

:13:24.:13:27.

watching this with great frustration because the favourite and the second

:13:28.:13:32.

favourite making mistakes so far. Here are Bob Ballard and Leon Taylor

:13:33.:13:36.

to tell us more. COMMENTATOR: The end of round two,

:13:37.:13:43.

the Olympic champion was leading. He's staying right at the top of the

:13:44.:13:48.

pile. As you have just seen on BBC One, a couple of faulters from the

:13:49.:13:52.

Chinese might just have opened the door for him. Or might open the door

:13:53.:13:58.

for quite a few others in the line-up, who might see the

:13:59.:14:02.

opportunity of sneaking through because we thought, on the basis of

:14:03.:14:06.

what we saw in the semifinal today, that it would be the two chienees

:14:07.:14:11.

and somebody else. But maybe not now -- Chinese.

:14:12.:14:16.

He finds it a little bit tricky to get balanced on that arm stand. But

:14:17.:14:22.

he absolutely buries his finish. He's

:14:23.:14:44.

diving at his very best here. He has tape on his tricep, under his arms,

:14:45.:14:48.

over the top of his shoulders. Juf a few more dives left in him, looks

:14:49.:14:50.

like. Remember the marks without lines

:14:51.:14:59.

through them are the ones that count towards the total, multiplied by the

:15:00.:15:02.

degree of difficulty. In that case 82. 5. Now Wolfram, first of the two

:15:03.:15:14.

Germans. Oh, wow. I was not expecting that. Wolfram is flying.

:15:15.:15:21.

That is three out of three to the best of his ability. Wow, I'm

:15:22.:15:28.

slightly confounded as to where he's finding this kind of form from.

:15:29.:15:31.

Because he has not been showing this in training. He's been very good in

:15:32.:15:36.

prelims and semis, but he's stepped up to a whole new level. Wow, look

:15:37.:15:40.

at the scores coming his way on this dive.

:15:41.:15:44.

Will he put pressure on David Boudia, who is the leader? Was the

:15:45.:15:53.

leader and is just still the leader. Wolfram is now two points behind

:15:54.:15:59.

David Boudia. This contest has really got under way in a big way.

:16:00.:16:10.

Garcia is to come with a big tariff in his dives.

:16:11.:16:24.

Neat and tidy, as he has been all the way through, the prelims,

:16:25.:16:28.

semifinals. Just his opening round dive here in the final was a little

:16:29.:16:37.

lacklustre. This is sharp, strong, powerful and he's right on the

:16:38.:16:44.

money. So, well, you can't fault it. Marginally lower degree of

:16:45.:16:47.

difficulty than some of the other arm-stand dives we have seen and we

:16:48.:16:52.

will continue to see. It's good though.

:16:53.:16:59.

Keeping in the mix. A little bit behind the top two, but we're not

:17:00.:17:06.

halfway yet. There's plenty of time for reparation.

:17:07.:17:17.

Always takes a very long time over this dive.

:17:18.:17:29.

That works for him. Because that's a wonderful reverse three-and-a-half

:17:30.:17:32.

in the tuck position. Good, strong jump. Miles away from the diving

:17:33.:17:37.

board. If anything, just a little loose as he comes out of the dive

:17:38.:17:40.

there, not quite holding enough tension to keep all the splash down.

:17:41.:17:44.

But this will be another mid-80s because of the degree of difficulty

:17:45.:17:51.

at 3. 4. Nice work. Minibaev, slightly faltering round two, better

:17:52.:17:54.

round three. Has he given himself too much to do to haul himself back

:17:55.:18:01.

into contention for a medal? Fourth place. That was at the London 2012

:18:02.:18:10.

Games. A man who made the final. Disappointingly from a German

:18:11.:18:12.

perspective and indeed from his, finished tenth in London.

:18:13.:18:22.

Well done! He's had a lot of trouble with this dive. His feet come

:18:23.:18:30.

incredibly close to the platform. This is much, much better from our

:18:31.:18:35.

very experienced German diver. Plaitens his feet getting them above

:18:36.:18:39.

the board there. He knows where the finish of this dive is. That is

:18:40.:18:42.

silky smooth and this is going to be one of our highest scoring arm-stand

:18:43.:18:51.

dives. His feet just come above the platform there. He's got his boots

:18:52.:18:58.

on. One on and one off, half a boot. Reboot, robot, let's go. Half a

:18:59.:19:04.

Nancy Sinatra there! He moves into third place.

:19:05.:19:10.

This man fifth at the worlds last year.

:19:11.:19:19.

I mention it every time. This guy has got either giant hands or

:19:20.:19:28.

magical powers, because he just manages to disappear every time he

:19:29.:19:32.

hits the water. Even there, he kind of flickers through the water. He

:19:33.:19:38.

didn't have a massive account of control, the judges will have seen

:19:39.:19:42.

that shimmy he performs. Normally you get punched every which way by

:19:43.:19:47.

the water. But he keeps it down. Into the jacuzzi to get warm. More

:19:48.:19:50.

splash out of the jacuzzi than in the water. He's incredibly slight,

:19:51.:19:55.

though. He is. We move on to the slightly more muscular, certainly

:19:56.:20:02.

much hair ier, Ivan Garcia. Oh, it was his bogey dive and it is

:20:03.:20:36.

bogeys for Ivan Garcia. Way over. That is a huge surfboard moment.

:20:37.:20:39.

He's upgraded this to back three-and-a-half in the pike. He's

:20:40.:20:43.

having a good chat to himself there, don't know what he's saying, but he

:20:44.:20:47.

didn't work. Helens too far back from the diving board, which throws

:20:48.:20:53.

off your control and surf's up. I was reading his lips, he was saying,

:20:54.:20:57.

"Leon Taylor's going to cane me for this if I get it wrong again." He's

:20:58.:21:01.

quite right. That's going to hurt. He was one of the potential

:21:02.:21:07.

medallists here today. That may have completely derailed his chances.

:21:08.:21:17.

Qiu Bo, what's on your mind? Great start, dreadful second round.

:21:18.:21:29.

The current world champion. That's what's on his mind - dare I say it,

:21:30.:21:37.

I believe that will be perfect tens from most of the judges. If they do

:21:38.:21:43.

not give it a ten, I do not know what they're taking points off for.

:21:44.:21:46.

The judges don't get to see the replay. If anything, he's got

:21:47.:21:52.

slightly plait feet, other than that -- flat feet, other than that, that

:21:53.:21:57.

is superior from Qiu Bo, who has got some work to do. Will the judges

:21:58.:22:01.

give it tens? It looks like they have. Oh, yes. Straight tens. Bingo.

:22:02.:22:06.

First time we've seen that in any competition this week. Every single

:22:07.:22:11.

judge believing it's worth the highest mark. That's what he gets,

:22:12.:22:16.

times his degree of difficulty and there you have your first

:22:17.:22:21.

three-figure score of the final. Tom Daley's got the highest that we've

:22:22.:22:24.

seen in the competition, that was in the prelims, 103. That is getting

:22:25.:22:29.

close to it, 102. Suddenly gone from 12th to fifth.

:22:30.:22:35.

Might be down in sixth after the next diver.

:22:36.:22:40.

He led early on and a man who's not yet in 2016 been beaten in any

:22:41.:22:43.

competition in which he's competed. Oh, that's his response and a fine

:22:44.:23:02.

response it is. He's still a little way from the summit. A long way to

:23:03.:23:08.

go to that Olympic Gold Medal, but this is going to help. He's

:23:09.:23:15.

capitalised on the mistake that Qiu Bo made in round two. This is, well,

:23:16.:23:20.

the 100 points coming his way nearly as well, if not just over. It's 3. 6

:23:21.:23:30.

degree of difficulty. He absolutely disappears. Look at those marks. Qiu

:23:31.:23:37.

Bo got 102. Anything you can do, I can improve upon and that's exactly

:23:38.:23:46.

what Chen aisen has done. So he has now overtaken David Boudia. What a

:23:47.:23:52.

contest, what a competition, as it was four years ago, nip and tuck all

:23:53.:23:57.

the way. Look at Martin Wolfram there, just two points behind David

:23:58.:24:00.

Boudia. China, USA, two Germans in third and fourth.

:24:01.:24:22.

Probably from Woo Haram down, not in medal contention.

:24:23.:24:33.

It's filled up considerably in here. Looking around from where we

:24:34.:24:37.

started, which was about 45 minutes ago, it seemed to be packed on the

:24:38.:24:47.

far side. This is the last diving competition for Rio 2016.

:24:48.:24:55.

Woo Ha-ram will go for a back three and a half somersault with hike for

:24:56.:25:07.

round four. -- with pike. That is an underwhelming start. Sadly Woo

:25:08.:25:14.

unable to control his entry into the water. When he begins he backs off a

:25:15.:25:19.

little bit which means his feet go with him and the judges will

:25:20.:25:22.

penalising heavily for that massive over rotation. He is one of the few

:25:23.:25:32.

people here doing three and ten, did the three meter board not with a

:25:33.:25:36.

great result. But the ten metre board have proven to be the far more

:25:37.:25:41.

prolific for him. He's made the last 12, but may find himself very close

:25:42.:25:49.

to the bottom of that 12 after that 57.6. One off the bottom of the

:25:50.:25:52.

moment is the Australian Domonic Bedggood. 3.3 degree of difficulty

:25:53.:25:58.

on this back three and a half somersault with tuck.

:25:59.:26:11.

Well, we are seeing the wheels start to come off a little bit now. I'm

:26:12.:26:17.

squirming in my seat. Maybe it's lack of experience on Domonic

:26:18.:26:24.

Bedggood's part? Not managing to stay cool, calm and collected.

:26:25.:26:29.

Here's another one with a massive over rotation. Surfboard moment, MTB

:26:30.:26:40.

pool and losing sight. -- emptying the pool. There will be no next time

:26:41.:26:49.

here with that died, because it will be the World Championships before we

:26:50.:26:53.

see him at the highest level once again. -- that live. David Boudia in

:26:54.:27:00.

second place. He will be looking to hold onto that title for as long as

:27:01.:27:05.

he can. Three very good dives. Here is number four.

:27:06.:27:13.

It's so good, isn't it? Wow! Back three and a half in the pike

:27:14.:27:25.

position. This is our defending Olympic champion and that is exactly

:27:26.:27:32.

what he's doing at the moment. The core strength required to stay in

:27:33.:27:37.

that pike shape. People sit around nicely. Will he get nines? Just

:27:38.:27:46.

under. Eight and two 8.5s will count towards the total. Looking like he's

:27:47.:27:54.

going to be pushing for a top three place. He's got enough in his

:27:55.:28:05.

armoury this year. Now, the forward four and a half at all the main

:28:06.:28:09.

protagonists do. It's worth a lot, but also a lot of risk and reward

:28:10.:28:18.

for Sanchez. Oh, high degree of difficulty. It's horrendous when it

:28:19.:28:22.

goes wrong. But when it goes right it is damaging to the rest of the

:28:23.:28:27.

field. This is the dive you can get over 100 points on if you score nine

:28:28.:28:34.

from the judges. 9.5 to get over. We've seen few do it before. That's

:28:35.:28:45.

a great expression! He's happy. The judges... Oh, he doesn't quite go

:28:46.:28:53.

over 100. At 98. 3.7 degrees of difficulty takes up two wards the

:28:54.:28:59.

three figures. Only the Chinese competitors have done over 100, Chen

:29:00.:29:07.

isomer and Qiu Bo. This is the man who has really surprised us in the

:29:08.:29:12.

final. Can he keep it going? Martin Wolfram of Germany. Back three and a

:29:13.:29:16.

half somersault. A high tariff dive or the German. He's just let that go

:29:17.:29:22.

short of vertical. Wolfram is such an impressive athlete. Can you see

:29:23.:29:29.

him back? Is he holding his shoulder? He dislocated his shoulder

:29:30.:29:33.

twice at the Olympic Games in London 2012. He has had two lots of

:29:34.:29:38.

shoulder surgery and that dive would do his shoulder any good. That could

:29:39.:29:42.

be horrendous to go through the shoulder joint. I've had multiple

:29:43.:29:47.

shoulder surgery myself and I have tears in my eyes watching him hit

:29:48.:29:52.

the water. That's horrendous if he has caught his shoulder. He's

:29:53.:29:57.

holding on, he's got tape around it. I hope he's OK. He was in all sorts

:29:58.:30:03.

of agony in London. We hope you will carry on, but that is a big dent to

:30:04.:30:11.

his medal aspirations. 59.4 means he won't be around the top three after

:30:12.:30:17.

this, or unlikely to be. Now, Rafael Quintero, trained in America. It's a

:30:18.:30:24.

low degree of difficulty, 3.2 compared to many of the other

:30:25.:30:29.

athletes' choice of dive in this group. They will do a twist dive at

:30:30.:30:33.

different points in the programme but everyone will complete a dive

:30:34.:30:38.

with a twist in it. This is Quintero's. It is bang on the money.

:30:39.:30:45.

He will get close to 80 points. The execution is spot on. It is like a

:30:46.:30:49.

double helix when they wrapped into those twist. He has done, whatever

:30:50.:30:57.

happens, he has done exceptionally well to pick himself up from being

:30:58.:31:03.

nowhere near the mix in the Welds last year. We saw signs that the

:31:04.:31:07.

test event here earlier in the year that he might be quite special. --

:31:08.:31:18.

in the Worlds. 81.6, in case you missed it. That replicates what he

:31:19.:31:24.

got in round three. Now, the arms stand back. Double somersault for

:31:25.:31:28.

Victor Minibaev. I think the rain has tear. It rained for the first

:31:29.:31:32.

part of the competition but it does seem to have disappeared now.

:31:33.:31:41.

You said to be rain has disappeared. Is that Minibaev's chances

:31:42.:31:49.

disappearing? It's a good effort. I love to watch 's style of diving,

:31:50.:31:56.

such a quick twist. Rapid, even in slow motion it looked like he was

:31:57.:32:00.

twisting around as if he was a tornado. So, so quick. Doesn't quite

:32:01.:32:05.

get the control required. Over rotating, losing his Speedos as he

:32:06.:32:15.

goes into the water! But says he over rotated and haven't done his

:32:16.:32:22.

drawstrings are properly. An exhibitionist. Keep your pants on,

:32:23.:32:32.

Viktor. Sascha Klein, we know he can do it at the highest level because

:32:33.:32:36.

he did in Barcelona in 2013. And in Shanghai in 2011. Oh, no! He

:32:37.:32:46.

cancelled his flight. Oh, my word. He opened up poorly and that is a

:32:47.:32:53.

debacle. So he got the take off but didn't believe in it and he's gone

:32:54.:32:56.

right over onto the front side of his body. That is not very

:32:57.:33:06.

comfortable physically. And of course mentally and emotionally he

:33:07.:33:11.

will be distraught. The score tells you everything. Who wants this

:33:12.:33:14.

bronze medal? Sascha Klein does not at the moment. I think you did, he's

:33:15.:33:23.

just cost himself at the moment. A poor start. You can't have a poor

:33:24.:33:27.

round in a competition of this kind of calibre. Which might again just

:33:28.:33:30.

open the door for the Frenchman, Benjamin Auffret. He hasn't done

:33:31.:33:37.

much from over three rounds so far. A back three and a half somersaults.

:33:38.:33:45.

What a dive from our Frenchman! That is a firecracker. Here it goes.

:33:46.:33:56.

Boom! Back three and a half in the tuck position. 3.3 degree of

:33:57.:34:01.

difficulty. We just saw Sascha Klein bailout on his. Our Frenchman is

:34:02.:34:07.

right on it. That is so, so well executed. It's not far away from a

:34:08.:34:16.

ten for me anyway. So clean into the water. He hasn't made any splash yet

:34:17.:34:21.

on all of his dives. The coach is loving it. Looking terrific at the

:34:22.:34:31.

Olympic Games 2016, if a bit pasty. Benjamin Auffret, 94.05 is his mark.

:34:32.:34:42.

He is now nine behind Sanchez and 17 behind David Boudia. Ivan Garcia,

:34:43.:34:49.

his easiest dive, if you can call it that. The verse three and a half. He

:34:50.:34:54.

has got some ground to make up. That will certainly help him. He needs to

:34:55.:35:00.

be very his way back into the somehow. It's going to be a lot of

:35:01.:35:15.

hard work. -- he needs to beaver. Making the rotation very, very

:35:16.:35:18.

efficient. Giving himself a chance to pop out of that. Places the dive

:35:19.:35:25.

beautifully. Good marks, but that round three might have just cost

:35:26.:35:30.

him. He has got that big, big dive which you don't want to miss in

:35:31.:35:33.

round five will stop if he gets that right, that is, what, 120 more

:35:34.:35:38.

points? He would have to get it really right. Where is Bo after the

:35:39.:35:50.

last round? He is in sixth place. This has a 3.6 difficulty. He seems

:35:51.:36:00.

to levitate! He is not much taller than Yoda, and he is not green.

:36:01.:36:06.

Those are the few differences. He has superpowers and Jedi powers, and

:36:07.:36:13.

he will need them now to catch up after an unusual second-round

:36:14.:36:22.

falter. If Chew-Bo can come back from that, he is Yoda. He is the

:36:23.:36:33.

Chinese Lazarus. We have not totally written off his chances, but it

:36:34.:36:37.

would be a really big uphill climb for him to get back into the top

:36:38.:36:43.

two. He is in the top two right now, until this man takes the board

:36:44.:36:51.

anyway. Chen Aisen, our leader after round three. David Boudia is still

:36:52.:36:54.

in second place if he gets this right. This is a 3.6 degrees of

:36:55.:37:02.

difficulty. Well, it's exactly the same dive. Not quite as well, but,

:37:03.:37:08.

you know what? He isn't bothered, or it seems he isn't bothered by the

:37:09.:37:11.

pressure, responding to his team-mate by throwing down the

:37:12.:37:19.

gauntlet. He started -- I am starting to squirm up in the

:37:20.:37:23.

commentary box. No squirming from Chen Aisen. He will get well over 90

:37:24.:37:28.

points and he has a lead which may not be caught. The mark, he has been

:37:29.:37:33.

up there pretty much all the way through. The only time he was in

:37:34.:37:39.

below 80 was in round two. That is a huge mark once again and there is a

:37:40.:37:44.

bit of a lead. Listen to the music in the background. Everyone's up on

:37:45.:37:46.

their feet dancing. 371 lays 354. We will have a quick look at 7-11,

:37:47.:38:06.

see where Ivan Garcia is. Ninth place with a big round to come -- a

:38:07.:38:13.

big dive to come in round five. STUDIO: and you will see rounds five

:38:14.:38:16.

and six on the Red Button. Diving coverage will continue live. We will

:38:17.:38:25.

show you the best of it later. We have some exciting taekwondo coming

:38:26.:38:29.

up first. But let me show you what happened on the handball. Russia in

:38:30.:38:33.

the end emerged victorious. They beat France 22-19. A 14th gold medal

:38:34.:38:39.

for Russia at these games, but a first in handball. Exciting scenes

:38:40.:38:48.

for them! And in basketball, the USA when again. 101-72, a sixth

:38:49.:38:57.

consecutive gold for the USA, their eighth in total. They now have a

:38:58.:39:01.

master run of 49 games unbeaten at the Olympics going back to Barcelona

:39:02.:39:08.

in 1992. A first medal ever for Spain in basketball who took silver.

:39:09.:39:12.

There is huge excitement here in Brazil as their footballers try to

:39:13.:39:16.

win the Olympic gold medal for the very first time, captained by Neymar

:39:17.:39:19.

who has given up the chance of playing for Barcelona, instead

:39:20.:39:25.

wanting to play here for Brazil. To achieve something that Pelly never

:39:26.:39:29.

did and Rinaldo never did and Ronald Ennio never did. Could Neymar be the

:39:30.:39:34.

one to lead them to victory? They are up against Germany which is a

:39:35.:39:39.

coincidence, you might even call it ironic because Germany thrashed them

:39:40.:39:45.

7-1 in the semifinals of the World Cup. It will be some gold medal

:39:46.:39:48.

match. COMMENTATOR: what a final we have

:39:49.:39:56.

two years on from the most infamous game in Brazil's history.

:39:57.:40:05.

Goal! 5-0! Humiliated and taken apart.

:40:06.:40:31.

What is it about Brazil when they host the tournament, the pressure is

:40:32.:40:44.

all on them. The Gold Medal final beckons for the

:40:45.:41:05.

host nation. The hope is that this Olympic campaign will mark the

:41:06.:41:06.

beginning of the bounce back. Safe to say, this was the hottest

:41:07.:41:29.

ticket in town, the Maracana absolutely packed and they are just

:41:30.:41:32.

under way in the Gold Medal match. Brazil against Germany. That is live

:41:33.:41:38.

on BBC Four. We'll join it on BBC Two at around about 10. 30pm.

:41:39.:41:42.

But the reason we are not showing you the football and we are not

:41:43.:41:45.

showing you the diving, is that there is another chance, in fact two

:41:46.:41:49.

chances, of a medal for Great Britain in taekwondo. We have two

:41:50.:41:55.

athletes involved in semifinals. We saw Bianca Walkden, the world

:41:56.:41:57.

champion, take out the Olympic champion. It means tonight, shortly,

:41:58.:42:01.

she'll be fighting for a place in the Gold Medal match. That was a

:42:02.:42:12.

great one to the head there. Great head shot. She scores again,

:42:13.:42:22.

totally outclassed here the lady from Papua New Guinea. An Olympic

:42:23.:42:34.

semifinal, unchartered territory. What a performance.

:42:35.:42:39.

Bianca Walkden has had a terrible time with injuries. She missed

:42:40.:42:44.

London because of them. She is a housemate of Jade Jones. They train

:42:45.:42:48.

with Paul Green who is there telling Bianca exactly what he wants her to

:42:49.:42:52.

do in this semifinal. She knows if she wins it at the very least, a

:42:53.:42:55.

Silver Medal is guaranteed. But a Gold Medal is what she has come here

:42:56.:43:04.

for. And John Cullen and Michaela Breeze are your commentators.

:43:05.:43:08.

COMMENTATOR: Your initial thoughts? Both fighters with serious

:43:09.:43:11.

credentials. Bianca Walkden comes into this as defending world

:43:12.:43:20.

champion. Versus the runner up at the World Championships. But they

:43:21.:43:24.

were in different categories. Big points to prove and big points to

:43:25.:43:25.

play for. A battle for distance and at the

:43:26.:44:05.

moment, it's Bianca Walkden holding the centre of the ring.

:44:06.:44:09.

Both fighters very evenly positioned right now. Open stance. Bianca

:44:10.:44:14.

coming forward, attempting a power punch. Doesn't make contact, or not

:44:15.:44:16.

with sufficient force. Zheng on the back foot, the Youth

:44:17.:44:27.

Olympic Games champion, from China. Can she make it through to the

:44:28.:44:28.

Olympic final here? Position of the body, turning

:44:29.:44:41.

themselves side ways, using the arm and shoulders to cover, make

:44:42.:44:42.

themselves a smaller target. Both of them over six feet, not easy

:44:43.:44:56.

to make yourself a smaller target. We will see them changing tactics

:44:57.:45:00.

right now. They're both going for the same kick.

:45:01.:45:13.

The sensors on the bottom of the socks, they have to whack off the

:45:14.:45:28.

body armour, as Walkden kicks the shin there.

:45:29.:45:31.

In terms of the scoreboard, nothing doing. In terms of aggression,

:45:32.:45:37.

Walkden slightly edging it. Yes, I would agree with you. Walkden's

:45:38.:45:43.

attitude, to this semifinal, is very aggressive. She wants to get through

:45:44.:45:47.

to that final, wants to emulate the success of her team-mate, Jade

:45:48.:45:50.

Jones. She's already been victorious. Absolutely. Shuyin

:45:51.:45:56.

Zheng, she comes from a fine reputation and background of Chinese

:45:57.:45:59.

fighters in the heavyweight division. So big shoes to fill.

:46:00.:46:05.

Walkden trying to fill those with a little punch there. Nothing doing on

:46:06.:46:09.

the scoreboard yet. Don't forget about punching. Paul

:46:10.:46:26.

Green there, the British coach saying don't forget the punch in the

:46:27.:46:30.

clinch and also catch her on the reset, which means to get them when

:46:31.:46:42.

they're about to kick again. This is opening up nicely.

:46:43.:46:47.

A steady start, the Chinese fighter in blue. Again blocking. Controlling

:46:48.:46:52.

the distance, Walkden trying to walk forward. Flick to the body. Tense

:46:53.:46:57.

times for both fighters. Tense times. You can see the

:46:58.:47:03.

concentration. Bianca looking for reassurance from her coach during

:47:04.:47:06.

the break. Really coming in aggressively.

:47:07.:47:09.

Arm out to try and stop anything getting through.

:47:10.:47:13.

Zheng Shuyin trying to come forward again, using that front leg,

:47:14.:47:16.

whistles past the leg there of Walkden..

:47:17.:47:27.

Walkden almost getting through. Zheng Shuyin being equally as

:47:28.:47:35.

aggressive. This is a real stalemate, as you can tell from the

:47:36.:47:39.

scoreboard. Tries with the push kick there.

:47:40.:47:42.

She comes on the reset and goes for the punch through. Tactically

:47:43.:47:46.

correct. Technically not enough power yet. Tense times. Both

:47:47.:47:55.

fighters wanting to commit here. Not overcommitting, leaving a mistake.

:47:56.:47:59.

Walkden on the back foot. This is a test of patience now. It's the first

:48:00.:48:06.

time we've seen a change in stance. Back to the open stance. That was

:48:07.:48:11.

close for a kick to the head from Zheng Shuyin.

:48:12.:48:16.

A real impasse at the moment. A couple of little forays upstairs

:48:17.:48:23.

from the Chinese fighter. Push kick from Walkden. She's got a

:48:24.:48:36.

good one there, chop kick attempt there from Zheng Shuyin. Couldn't

:48:37.:48:39.

quite get it though. The second round is in the books.

:48:40.:48:57.

Tense times for both fighters. I think Zheng Shuyin is giving it

:48:58.:49:03.

everything. Blocking, excellent. Struggling there. She's feeling

:49:04.:49:07.

sick, maybe took a blow to the belly. You're not allowed to go big

:49:08.:49:16.

with it. Legs up. Paul Green trying to force it. That's how tight this

:49:17.:49:23.

match is. Tension, palpable. The stakes, massive. One point would

:49:24.:49:27.

make a huge difference to the momentum of this one. Olympic final

:49:28.:49:29.

at stake. Zheng Shuyin coming close. A toe tap

:49:30.:49:47.

away from a three-point head shot. This one for a spot in the Olympic

:49:48.:49:53.

final. The heavyweight division, plus 67 kilograms. Zheng Shuyin

:49:54.:50:01.

against Bianca Walkden. The fighter from China, the fighter from Great

:50:02.:50:05.

Britain. They've fought before. It was as close as this all the way

:50:06.:50:08.

through. The Chinese fighter, Zheng Shuyin,

:50:09.:50:13.

found the answer. Will it be Walkden this time? Will it be Zheng Shuyin?

:50:14.:50:21.

This is a battle of defences. No-one wanting to overcommit. The front leg

:50:22.:50:31.

is closer to the opponent. It makes it easier to get in for quick attack

:50:32.:50:38.

and easier to get out and defend. Zheng with the slightly longer legs.

:50:39.:50:46.

Walkden tries to push forward on the push. Tries to get Zheng Shuyin out

:50:47.:50:54.

of the ring. If she gets off the green section or onto the ground, it

:50:55.:51:01.

could be a key component. She's getting closer there.

:51:02.:51:20.

Back legs have not been seen. Punches with not much force either.

:51:21.:51:26.

Both fighters thinking they scored there.

:51:27.:51:33.

Tense times have got even more complex now for Great Britain's

:51:34.:51:38.

Bianca Walkden. Tries for the first time with the back leg. Finds space

:51:39.:51:40.

again. She's going to need to try something

:51:41.:51:49.

different, Walkden. She's one point deficit. There's nothing separating

:51:50.:51:51.

them so far. The pressure is now needed from

:51:52.:52:15.

Walkden in red. Great defence from Zheng Shuyin, she spins back round

:52:16.:52:16.

into the centre of the ring. The Olympic Games heavyweight final

:52:17.:52:40.

at stake. One punch could make the different. -- difference. Ten

:52:41.:52:44.

seconds left. If it is drawn here, it goes to a

:52:45.:52:47.

golden point, the first point will be the winner. Do you commit or go

:52:48.:52:54.

with it? Neither prepared to make a mistake. The Olympic Games final,

:52:55.:53:01.

it's on the horizon. This one could not be any more tense if it tried.

:53:02.:53:08.

It is so close. Both fighters using the same strategy. Neither prepared

:53:09.:53:13.

to budge from that. This could go either way. Zheng Shuyin she's been

:53:14.:53:20.

under so much pressure. Nothing on the scoreboard, but nothing to

:53:21.:53:21.

separate them. Will it be a moment of magic.

:53:22.:53:46.

Taekwondo, the art of kicking and punching, who's going to master that

:53:47.:53:55.

art here? Key moments in the careers of both fighters - a heavyweight

:53:56.:54:00.

final at stake. Zheng Shuyin against Bianca Walkden, the first point will

:54:01.:54:05.

be the winner. Walkden in red, Zheng Shuyin, she's

:54:06.:54:06.

the fighter in blue. Zheng Shuyin prepared to go for it

:54:07.:54:34.

as well. Foot work from both fighters impeccable.

:54:35.:54:39.

Timing is everything. Walkden tries to chip forward.

:54:40.:55:02.

A minor advantage for Zheng Shuyin, the Chinese fighter in blue. Walked

:55:03.:55:07.

and comes back. Very aggressive. Timing is so keen now. A crucial

:55:08.:55:27.

kick from Shuyin. Sales over the shoulder of Walkden. She slips and

:55:28.:55:32.

slides, lives to fight another day. Who is going to the final? 50

:55:33.:55:43.

seconds to decide. A push kick. Will it be rewarded? If it doesn't go on

:55:44.:55:49.

the scores of the judges... It is, indeed, and it is Zheng Shuyin in

:55:50.:55:53.

the last three seconds. She finds the head shot to win. The aggression

:55:54.:55:58.

of Walkden left a tiny space fitting the long legs of Zheng Shuyin.

:55:59.:56:03.

Fantastic timing from her. Bianca Walkden will be disconsolate. She is

:56:04.:56:10.

into the rapid charge into the heavyweight final. -- into the

:56:11.:56:16.

repechage. Congratulations to Zheng Shuyin. A fantastic performance and

:56:17.:56:20.

what I had kick to seal a space in the final. -- a head kick.

:56:21.:56:32.

STUDIO: China celebrate and will go into the gold medal final.

:56:33.:56:38.

Desperately disappointing for Bianca Walkden, she defended so well. She

:56:39.:56:43.

will have a chance to fight for bronze medal, but it can't be gold

:56:44.:56:47.

for the World Champion who has struggled so much with injuries. As

:56:48.:56:53.

you can see, she's incredibly upset. Paul Green will do his best to help

:56:54.:56:56.

her recover mentally so that she can come back stronger and try to win a

:56:57.:57:07.

bronze medal. That fight will be at 1am British time. It seems so wrong

:57:08.:57:12.

but you are watching the screen going, "Kick her, kick her!" But on

:57:13.:57:17.

golden point with that head shot, and you can see it very clearly to

:57:18.:57:22.

the back of the head, Bianca Walkden's Olympic hopes of becoming

:57:23.:57:27.

champion were over. But there is still a chance for Britain to win

:57:28.:57:32.

another gold medal in taekwondo because Mahama Cho is up next. In

:57:33.:57:34.

his words, it will be Cho Time. Well, let's had backed down matter

:57:35.:58:11.

side to Nick Hope to hear more about the man who says it is Cho Time. He

:58:12.:58:18.

is quite a character and he has a fascinating back story. He came to

:58:19.:58:22.

the UK when he was for five years old. He was born the Ivory Coast. He

:58:23.:58:28.

fled Africa where he was being bullied, but he didn't have it easy

:58:29.:58:31.

when he came over to the UK. He started taekwondo effectively to try

:58:32.:58:36.

and look after himself because of that bullying. He has proven he is

:58:37.:58:42.

very, very talented at it. He has a great Champ having already knocked

:58:43.:58:45.

out a couple of champions. We are going to bring in Bianca who has

:58:46.:58:52.

just come out of the semifinal bout. You put in an absolutely fantastic

:58:53.:58:56.

fight but it wasn't quite to be. There is still the chance bronze.

:58:57.:59:00.

Obviously I didn't come here for bronze. I was unlucky that I

:59:01.:59:07.

couldn't score. It cost me be gold. I've got a chance for bronze. I

:59:08.:59:11.

don't really wanted but fingers crossed I go out there and do well.

:59:12.:59:18.

For those that know your background, obviously it's been really tough

:59:19.:59:21.

over the last couple of years. Just to get here is an achievement and to

:59:22.:59:25.

still have that medal prospect is huge. You live the Jade Jones want

:59:26.:59:29.

to be following her success. Gold is what we all came here for. Bronze is

:59:30.:59:35.

a good medal, but it's not what I came for. I will go out there and

:59:36.:59:39.

try for bronze but I wish I could have more. Very Best of luck.

:59:40.:59:48.

COMMENTATOR: no lack of confidence from Mahama Cho. He has come in

:59:49.:59:57.

demonstrating his intent in this first round. A few push kicks just

:59:58.:00:02.

to get his distance. The height disadvantage needs to stay out of

:00:03.:00:08.

range as well. Just about finding the range with that back leg kick.

:00:09.:00:12.

The only danger is that it is slightly predictable. Radik Isaev

:00:13.:00:21.

does have strong front leg. There is the pack kick from Mahama Cho. Based

:00:22.:00:31.

now in Manchester with the Olympic elite team. Training in London

:00:32.:00:39.

regularly as a youngster. The chance to become a footballer, but his big

:00:40.:00:44.

goal here is to get a shot in under the guard of Isaev, the man from

:00:45.:00:51.

Azerbaijan, originally from Russia. The Russian is in no hurry at the

:00:52.:00:56.

moment. A very slow, languid style. Really killing the tempo. He seems a

:00:57.:01:01.

lot more content to sit back and allow Mahama Cho to take the lead.

:01:02.:01:06.

I'm sure we will see an attacking kick and shock kicks to the head. He

:01:07.:01:12.

has a height advantage. It's interesting what you say about

:01:13.:01:16.

taking a blow. He is two metres tall, he almost takes a lot of push

:01:17.:01:20.

kick. Very economic or with the use of that force. Yet to feel the force

:01:21.:01:28.

of Isaev. It has been a first-class performance from Cho in the opening

:01:29.:01:32.

round. Didn't have the best of form last year, had to work so hard to

:01:33.:01:38.

qualify. Did so at the last minute, and in the last second, hearing Rio

:01:39.:01:43.

at the Olympic Games, it is all square at 0-0.

:01:44.:01:57.

The former Iranian national team coach is now in the corner of the

:01:58.:02:05.

man from Azerbaijan. Miller in the corner of Mahama Cho. He is saying,

:02:06.:02:11.

but on the pressure, change the tempo. It is their important to put

:02:12.:02:16.

that pressure on because Isaev is happy to sit back and take what's

:02:17.:02:20.

coming to him and look for the opportunity. But we have seen Mahama

:02:21.:02:24.

Cho come in and attack and equally get back out again to avoid any

:02:25.:02:28.

counter. He needs to keep moving and that's the way he's going to

:02:29.:02:33.

hopefully find a way in. Likewise for Isaev. He favours patients. Will

:02:34.:02:43.

it be the courage of Cho or the patience of Isaev? A heavyweight

:02:44.:02:47.

final awaits for either of these men. It will take a stupendous

:02:48.:02:52.

effort to try to get past that front leg of Isaev. And he does! Mahama

:02:53.:02:59.

Cho blasts in a back leg front kick. Who can round the corner? Big power

:03:00.:03:05.

kicks, big power punches. Why did they not score? Answers on a

:03:06.:03:10.

postcard to the WTF, the world governing body. It is the body

:03:11.:03:14.

protectors at the moment, not being troubled by either fighter.

:03:15.:03:24.

A deathly silence at the moment. A back kick a game from Mahama Cho.

:03:25.:03:33.

Tries with the big power shot. Isaev is resolute in his defence. He

:03:34.:03:38.

hasn't shown any thing as an attacking threat so far. That's

:03:39.:03:41.

right, he's happy to take what's being dished out. I think if Isaev

:03:42.:03:47.

is going to get a score on the board he needs to come in. He's got the

:03:48.:03:52.

height advantage. Mahama Cho has a big height advantage. It proves to

:03:53.:03:58.

be a disadvantage. Left the chest open. If at first you don't succeed.

:03:59.:04:06.

Mahama Cho tries the head shot. It has been a good little riposte here

:04:07.:04:09.

from the fighter in blue. Isaev takes another kick. The art of

:04:10.:04:17.

kicking and punching, the martial artist must at the moment, Mahama

:04:18.:04:24.

Cho. He really is attacking these kicks. Just leaning back at the same

:04:25.:04:28.

time. That way he doesn't quite get the power in and out. Leaning back,

:04:29.:04:35.

you're right. Also leaning back to avoid the big headshot. We have seen

:04:36.:04:45.

nothing from the big man from Baku in red at the moment. It takes a lot

:04:46.:04:50.

of courage to turn your back on somebody two metres tall, 100 kilos

:04:51.:04:56.

plus. He has been resolute in his defence. He has got the reward at

:04:57.:05:01.

the end of the second round. Mahama Cho, by the merest of margins. At

:05:02.:05:06.

one point is so significant. He is finding it so hard, Isaev. While

:05:07.:05:13.

Isaev is not attacking, he is defending very well. Isaev is

:05:14.:05:22.

patient. He is only one points down. Isaev is the World Champion for a

:05:23.:05:28.

reason. The coaches saying he will try to come into the middle

:05:29.:05:32.

distance. In taekwondo there is three distances. Fighting distance

:05:33.:05:36.

where both of you can. Long-distance armour which is safe for you. The

:05:37.:05:41.

middle distance, that is the danger zone. You can get caught napping. It

:05:42.:05:47.

was Isaev that was caught napping there as he takes that power punch

:05:48.:05:48.

and he felt it as well. The coach there, last-minute

:05:49.:06:03.

instructions. The third round here of the semifinal. Great Britain's

:06:04.:06:09.

Mahama Cho in blue. Radik Isaev is the taller of the two. Nothing to

:06:10.:06:16.

separate them. One kyong-go hanging against the Azeri fighter. He will

:06:17.:06:20.

have to be aggressive. Mahama Cho will be put under pressure. There is

:06:21.:06:28.

the kyong-go that we mentioned. A little yellow card. When that turns

:06:29.:06:31.

red it will be a point to your opponent. This is the most attacking

:06:32.:06:37.

we have seen from Isaev. Realising now that he is down, he needs to

:06:38.:06:41.

bring it back into play and we will see a lot more headshot. More than

:06:42.:06:46.

likely in control of the centre of the ring. He has got a kyong-go in

:06:47.:06:52.

front of him. That is up putting his hand down. It is only your feet back

:06:53.:06:57.

and be on the mat. That is the pressure that Isaev can put on just

:06:58.:07:00.

by his very presence. Mahama Cho building his own. We mentioned tempo

:07:01.:07:08.

in the corner. This is the speed that Isaev likes to fight out.

:07:09.:07:13.

Couldn't be any slower if he tried. Slow and steady, but will it win the

:07:14.:07:18.

race? The head kick just goes over the shoulder. Did it catch Mahama

:07:19.:07:22.

Cho as he was on the ground, or one the way to the ground? Well, it was

:07:23.:07:28.

a clean shot to the head. But the video replay is going to be to

:07:29.:07:34.

challenge whether it was a pull and a kick. He kicked to be head when he

:07:35.:07:42.

was on the floor. Nelson Miller just about getting that one right. Got it

:07:43.:07:46.

wrong the first time, said that it was a poorly before the kick. -- it

:07:47.:07:55.

was a pull. Paying attention now, the coach, realising that the kick

:07:56.:07:58.

was potentially when Mahama Cho was on the mat. That is the debate.

:07:59.:08:04.

Let's wait for the result of this one. It will be pivotal. The card is

:08:05.:08:16.

returned. Just to clarify, the referee can also play his own card.

:08:17.:08:22.

If you play your cards right, points make prizes. This point could be

:08:23.:08:26.

important. Is Mahama Cho on the ground as he is kicked? He takes a

:08:27.:08:31.

swipe at him in a soccer style there. Mahama Cho did well not to

:08:32.:08:43.

take one there. The thumbs up, and the three points will be taken away.

:08:44.:08:48.

Mahama Cho getting it right, telling his coach what it was for. It is as

:08:49.:08:52.

we were, one point a piece. Both fighters have had a short break

:08:53.:09:05.

to recover. There is the attempt of the chop kick to the head for Mahama

:09:06.:09:09.

Cho. It is a long way to reach. And again. Both just giving off the

:09:10.:09:15.

shoulder. On the way takes a little push kick and falls. That is how

:09:16.:09:20.

quickly fortunes can change here. A power punch from Cho. The corner

:09:21.:09:29.

judges are unmoved. Isaev is a big man to move. 3-1. Cho changes

:09:30.:09:38.

stance. He needs to change something. Down by two, needs to

:09:39.:09:42.

find some big scoring points here in the last 20 seconds. Ties with a

:09:43.:09:49.

reverse turning kick. That is worth four. The same tactics and the same

:09:50.:09:53.

result. Nothing doing on the scoreboard. Isaev goes with a push

:09:54.:10:00.

kick to the body. Isaev again on the avoidance. Chop kicked well blocked

:10:01.:10:07.

by Isaev. The clock ticks down, it will be a kyong-go. This is the

:10:08.:10:12.

potential chance of a 1-point game. We are looking for the video replay

:10:13.:10:17.

card as well. It is all kicking off at the Carioca Arena 3. Isaev

:10:18.:10:23.

stepped out. I can hardly believe this. The Olympic Games semifinal.

:10:24.:10:30.

Four seconds left in the third round and the technology does not work!

:10:31.:10:39.

Unacceptable, not good enough. It's OK for your phone to lose battery,

:10:40.:10:44.

but not the body armour protector in an Olympic Games semifinal. The

:10:45.:10:49.

technology has to improve and improving fortunes for Isaev. He

:10:50.:10:54.

runs away and tears into the final. He deserves it, no question about

:10:55.:10:55.

it. Mahama Cho will be into the

:10:56.:11:10.

repechage, mutual respect, fantastic performance from both, both men

:11:11.:11:13.

covering themselves in a great dignity there. . STUDIO: It'll be a

:11:14.:11:24.

bronze medal at best for Bianca walked in and Mahama Cho. The

:11:25.:11:28.

combined shoot under way, Great Britain have a chance for a medal,

:11:29.:11:31.

Matthew Pinsent can bring us up to date. The Brit went into the second

:11:32.:11:34.

place. I'll hand you quickly to the

:11:35.:11:47.

commentators. Eleanor Oldroyd and Steph Cook. We've already seen

:11:48.:11:55.

Choong of Great Britain, who you can see running towards us, he was

:11:56.:11:59.

second into the shooting range behind the Russian. The pentathlete

:12:00.:12:04.

have to go into the shooting range for times and run four loose to wit

:12:05.:12:11.

loops. A total of 3200 metres of this touristy, attorney course,

:12:12.:12:16.

which goes around the centre of the arena, which was used for the riding

:12:17.:12:22.

event. That is our leader. Fourth in London 2012. Double world champion.

:12:23.:12:29.

Choong just behind him as they come into the loop, just in front of us.

:12:30.:12:35.

Stephanie Crook 2000 Olympic champion in Sydney, what does he

:12:36.:12:40.

need to do here? He set himself up into an excellent position here, to

:12:41.:12:46.

start in second place. He's a good combined athlete, a great shot, but

:12:47.:12:50.

it's a question of how good those athletes are around him as well,

:12:51.:12:53.

they're rather some excellent combined athletes are very close to

:12:54.:12:56.

him. He's holding second place at the moment behind the Russian,

:12:57.:13:08.

Aleksander Lesun. Fish meal Hernandez has moved into fourth

:13:09.:13:10.

place, he's about to come into the bronze medal position. You can see

:13:11.:13:22.

the pentathlete is run across there, heading out. In London they headed

:13:23.:13:27.

into the countryside. Hernandez has already overtaken the athlete who

:13:28.:13:33.

started in third place, El Geziry. We are looking out for Jamie cook,

:13:34.:13:37.

the other British athlete, who started in 16th position. This is

:13:38.:13:42.

coming up to the end of the first lap. We're watching now as they make

:13:43.:13:49.

their way around to the second shooting range. This is all about

:13:50.:13:55.

being able to control your nerves than breathing, keep the laser

:13:56.:13:59.

pistol steady, shoots down those five targets. Get those five green

:14:00.:14:06.

light in as tough a time as possible. -- quick a time. He's got

:14:07.:14:15.

two shots. Missed one. Zhongrong with one. He's got two now. The

:14:16.:14:19.

first to get five green lights will head out. And there goes Aleksander

:14:20.:14:25.

Lesun. Their heart rates are going up, becomes increasingly difficult

:14:26.:14:30.

to shoot on the range. Joe is struggling a little bit here. Where

:14:31.:14:35.

getting other athletes coming in behind him, he's got four, five now,

:14:36.:14:40.

but the gap has gone down to 25 seconds, just under. He's never

:14:41.:14:44.

really been in the position of being in this position in a competition

:14:45.:14:47.

under this sort of pressure on the range. This is what is going to

:14:48.:14:56.

tell. You can see in the distance the US and Mexico athletes. Patrick

:14:57.:15:08.

Dogue is another one to watch. Dogue is 21, from Great Britain, lives in

:15:09.:15:13.

London, he went to school in Croydon. He joined the modern

:15:14.:15:18.

pentathlon club that had been set up by another former British

:15:19.:15:25.

pentathlete, Kate Allenby, bronze medallist in Sydney. It would be the

:15:26.:15:30.

first time a British man had ever won an individual medal in the

:15:31.:15:36.

modern pentathlon. Gold in the 76 in the team event, bronze in 1988.

:15:37.:15:40.

Looking out some of the athletes further down the field at the

:15:41.:15:43.

moment, I can still see Aleksander Lesun. We caught sight of Ricardo

:15:44.:15:49.

DeLuca from Italy, he holds the current world record. He hasn't

:15:50.:15:55.

shown the form this year but he'll still be going well under 11

:15:56.:16:08.

minutes. Patrick Dogue from Germany. And El Geziry who started that has

:16:09.:16:12.

dropped down the field, caught up behind some of the athletes who

:16:13.:16:15.

started well down. If you get your shooting right you can run further

:16:16.:16:20.

up the field. That is dimmer Shembo, the number eight, making really good

:16:21.:16:38.

progress. -- that is Tymoschchenko. There is Joe Choong. He is running

:16:39.:16:41.

well still. Hernandez in third place. De Luca just behind. At the

:16:42.:16:48.

moment it looks like Aleksander Lesun is looking very untroubled,

:16:49.:16:51.

look how comfortable he looks as he comes into the shooting range for

:16:52.:16:56.

the third time now. Let's just wait and see where Joe Choong comes in.

:16:57.:17:07.

Stay with us, watching Lesun shooting on the range. He missed

:17:08.:17:15.

one. We'll switch coverage to BBC Two shortly. On the Red Button as

:17:16.:17:19.

well. We'll be continuing on BBC Two. There is Jo Choong. How quickly

:17:20.:17:26.

can he get in and out? We can already see the other athletes up

:17:27.:17:33.

now with Jo Choong. De Luca, Hernandez from Mexico. It's all to

:17:34.:17:37.

play for. Joe has got to keep his cool here. There were other

:17:38.:17:41.

pentathlete leaving the range ahead of him, this shoot is dropping him

:17:42.:17:46.

down the field at the moment. Is struggling to get that fourth away.

:17:47.:17:49.

It will have made a big difference to the order. You can see all the

:17:50.:17:53.

athletes coming out ahead of Jo Choong. That is De Luca we can see.

:17:54.:18:02.

Hernandez of Mexico. Dogue of Germany. Then De Luca. And

:18:03.:18:10.

expositor. His sister Chloe won the gold medal in the women's event

:18:11.:18:15.

yesterday. He started 45 seconds behind the leader. I spoke to

:18:16.:18:18.

Samantha Murray at the start, I said is there any chance he could come

:18:19.:18:22.

through? It bite be too much for him to make the podium, but he's

:18:23.:18:25.

certainly a great shot, like his sister. At the moment, Jo Choong has

:18:26.:18:32.

dropped down the field. We're not sure how far back he is. We can see

:18:33.:18:38.

Aleksander Lesun. He's making his way out into the middle of the

:18:39.:18:43.

field. That is Tymoschchenko in second place. Tymoschchenko of the

:18:44.:18:52.

Ukraine has taken second place. The trip to the shooting range has

:18:53.:18:56.

really cost to Jo Choong dear. There is the battle for bronze going on.

:18:57.:19:01.

Hernandez from Mexico, De Luca from Italy, Dogue from Germany. You just

:19:02.:19:09.

saw number 13 of the Czech Republic, the Olympic champion in London 2012.

:19:10.:19:15.

Lesun looking really comfortable at the moment, he really is set for the

:19:16.:19:19.

gold medal here. Something would have to go drastically wrong on his

:19:20.:19:23.

shoot for him not to be top of the podium now. The silver and bronze

:19:24.:19:31.

medals are still all to play for. Pentathlete starting to feel the

:19:32.:19:40.

strain of it. Jo Choong you can see in the distance. At the moment he is

:19:41.:19:44.

well out of the medals. But we've got one more trip to the shooting

:19:45.:19:50.

range to come. Here we go with Aleksander Lesun making his way in.

:19:51.:19:54.

In first place, looking comfortable. He almost strolls in now. He lines

:19:55.:20:03.

up the laser pistol. He's going to aim to make those red lights go

:20:04.:20:08.

green. Two at the moment. It's like the biathlon in the Winter Olympics

:20:09.:20:12.

if you watch that. When you've already done a long run and then to

:20:13.:20:17.

go and shoot... But that looks like the gold medal right there for

:20:18.:20:20.

Aleksander Lesun, what a great shoot for him. We are just watching the

:20:21.:20:26.

other athletes competing for silver and bronze. Jo Choong makes his way

:20:27.:20:32.

onto the shooting range now. Jamie cook making his way on there.

:20:33.:20:40.

Welcome to view was on BBC Two, we're here live with the final

:20:41.:20:45.

section of the modern pentathlon. If you're watching on BBC One, turnover

:20:46.:20:50.

now. Jo Choong fighting for a medal but his shooting letting him down.

:20:51.:20:53.

The combined run, should, the

:20:54.:20:54.
