then, bang, through it goes and Rafa just watched it go.

:00:00.:00:36.

Opening him up on the backhand. Felt the time was right to go to the

:00:37.:00:43.

forehand side. It's close. Gives it a look, but no

:00:44.:01:11.

challenge. So, once more Del Porto will be

:01:12.:01:40.

serving to stay in the opening set. It's not just the calibre of the

:01:41.:01:55.

tennis, the stature of the players, it's what they represent. Two of the

:01:56.:02:01.

most popular tennis players in the last couple of decades. Koelbaek

:02:02.:02:06.

Trow, because the crowd know what he's had to endure with his

:02:07.:02:11.

surgeries that looked like they would take him out of tennis -- Delp

:02:12.:02:21.

Trow. And Nadal because he is a pirate, at the age of 30 there is

:02:22.:02:24.

something quite fresh and dramatic about him -- Delp Trow -- when

:02:25.:02:32.

Martin Del Potro. He has had problems with his knees and now his

:02:33.:02:40.

wrist. Never complains. He just inspires love around the world. I

:02:41.:02:48.

think it is a general truth that Fedor is the most respected tennis

:02:49.:02:51.

player because of what he represents, and he is a good guy,

:02:52.:03:01.

but so much love for Rafa. The two of them, Fedor and the dial, change

:03:02.:03:15.

the face of tennis -- Federer and Nadal. They are huge draws.

:03:16.:03:28.

Del Potro is serving for the second time to stay in the opening set.

:03:29.:03:38.

Just over 50 minutes, we've been going.

:03:39.:05:07.

Yes, it got the line. Del Potro looking down, I think he thought it

:05:08.:05:17.

was going out. Enough top-spin on it to drag it down.

:05:18.:06:03.

So, the mis-hit putting Rafa within two points of the opening set. Such

:06:04.:06:18.

an expensive wind-up. Occasionally it can go wrong, like that.

:06:19.:06:37.

Great defence from Rafa and then his own huge forehand. Immense power,

:06:38.:06:45.

out of nowhere. No. Nadal turned it around. From a

:06:46.:07:43.

break down, he's won the first set, 7-5.

:07:44.:07:50.

STUDIO: So, Nadal is in the driving seat, one more set would get him

:07:51.:07:58.

through to the final against Andy Murray tomorrow. The semifinal

:07:59.:08:03.

continues very shortly over on BBC Four. I will say farewell, that's

:08:04.:08:08.

the end of the afternoon team's shift, I will hand over to the

:08:09.:08:13.

evening team and Claire. The rollers in Rio, it is kind of a samba remix

:08:14.:08:20.

of Super Saturday and the party has started already -- rowers. Fantastic

:08:21.:08:25.

and potentially more gold to come from the evening team.

:08:26.:08:29.

We will be focusing on the velodrome. We heard massive

:08:30.:08:34.

cheering, the tennis stadium is behind us, as Rafa took the first

:08:35.:08:38.

set. That continues on BBC Four. We are going to build up to hopefully

:08:39.:08:44.

another golden night going around in circles. COMMENTATOR: Great Britain

:08:45.:08:47.

making a flying start in the velodrome. Great Britain are in the

:08:48.:08:54.

lead, but only just, it's so close! Coming towards the line and the gold

:08:55.:08:59.

medal goes to Great Britain, the Olympic champions again! What a ride

:09:00.:09:06.

and for the third time in a row, Great Britain are the

:09:07.:09:08.

gold-medallists and Olympic champions in the men's team sprint.

:09:09.:09:13.

It's a world record for Great Britain. And Britain topping the

:09:14.:09:19.

line and they have broken the world record. It's coming down to the last

:09:20.:09:25.

lap here, will it be Britain, Australia? It will be Great Britain,

:09:26.:09:32.

in a world record time. Sensational cycling here in Rio. Brilliant,

:09:33.:09:35.

brilliant stuff. Quite a face to make! Gold so far

:09:36.:09:46.

for Callum Skinner and company and force Bradley Wiggins, Ed Clancy,

:09:47.:09:53.

Owain Doull in the team pursuit. The women's team pursuit, they broke the

:09:54.:09:56.

world record is today and this morning, Laura Trott, Joe Rawal Zol

:09:57.:10:02.

and company, taking on team USA for the gold medal at about 9:14pm --

:10:03.:10:08.

grouse all. High hopes for Becky James in the keirin, that is a very

:10:09.:10:13.

fast and dangerous and exciting race as well. Definitely busier this

:10:14.:10:18.

afternoon than it has been so far at these Olympic Games. You get the

:10:19.:10:21.

feeling they are starting to embrace it here in Rio. Here are the

:10:22.:10:23.

headlines. Great Britain ending the Olympic

:10:24.:10:33.

rowing regatta in style with the men's eight leading from start to

:10:34.:10:36.

finish to win gold, their first since the Sydney Olympics in 2000.

:10:37.:10:45.

And there was a first ever Olympic medal for the Team GB women's eight,

:10:46.:10:52.

taking silver behind the USA, who were winning goal for the third

:10:53.:10:54.

Games in a row. -- winning gold. Andy Murray has booked his place in

:10:55.:11:06.

the Men's Singles final with a straight sets victory over Japan's

:11:07.:11:11.

Kei Nishikori. He will play Nadal or Del Potro who are in progress at the

:11:12.:11:15.

moment. The gold-medal match is tomorrow.

:11:16.:11:19.

And we are in for a thrilling conclusion to the heptathlon,

:11:20.:11:31.

Belgium's Thiam has nudged through, and constant Johnson --

:11:32.:11:38.

Johnson-Thompson is in third place. This is how things look. We will

:11:39.:11:43.

catch up on the rowing action and then I'll be talking to Jazz Carlin

:11:44.:11:47.

after her two Silver Medal is. She'll be joining me. We have the

:11:48.:11:51.

men's sprint quarterfinals from 8pm and then the women's keirin, Becky

:11:52.:11:58.

James, and the team pursuit, 9pm is when you want to tune in for that

:11:59.:12:03.

race. If you want to catch up on everything so far or see some days

:12:04.:12:09.

that have gone by, go to the website and there are 24 sports available in

:12:10.:12:16.

full. As you are aware, it has been a weather disrupted programme at the

:12:17.:12:21.

Lagoa in terms of the rowing. Gold medal is already full the men's four

:12:22.:12:25.

and the women's pair but it finished with the blue ribbons event, the men

:12:26.:12:32.

and women's eight. COMMENTATOR: Gorgeous views down at the Lagoa

:12:33.:12:42.

Stadium. Deep breath. Never been done for the British in the women's

:12:43.:12:50.

eight. This was my one concern, beating the British by half a

:12:51.:12:57.

length. The British are in medal position. Great Britain, in the

:12:58.:13:01.

silver medal position here. The Americans have gone. The Brits are

:13:02.:13:07.

fighting for the silver. The Romanians are coming back, they are

:13:08.:13:11.

level with 100 metres to go. Come on, Britain. Britain going into the

:13:12.:13:19.

record books with a medal. Hang on, girls! They've absolutely done it.

:13:20.:13:26.

I'm so proud of these nine girls, and about 50 more behind us who got

:13:27.:13:31.

us here. I had no doubt, even when we will ask that we would get

:13:32.:13:35.

through. They are strong, sassy and inspirational and I'm so happy to be

:13:36.:13:39.

with them. I couldn't have dreams of a more amazing experience. So, so

:13:40.:13:44.

much trust in every single one of them and now a generation of British

:13:45.:13:53.

rowers, they can believe. We are down now, the peace and tranquillity

:13:54.:13:57.

for the last time and the Lagoa Stadium, which has done its job. --

:13:58.:14:05.

at the. The blue ribbon event leaving the start. This is the way

:14:06.:14:11.

to do it. They can't rest but they will start to think that it is going

:14:12.:14:17.

their way. Glorious shot. Glorious if you are British, they have the

:14:18.:14:20.

fitness and the strength and they know exactly how to quickly go from

:14:21.:14:24.

a to B and this is what they deserve. The Germans are giving it

:14:25.:14:30.

one last push and so are the Netherlands. Just the last couple of

:14:31.:14:35.

strokes and it is Great Britain, the eight are the Olympic champions and

:14:36.:14:38.

that has a fantastic ring about it. What a way to do it, what a race.

:14:39.:14:45.

These guys were magnificent today, absolute gladiators. That was the

:14:46.:14:51.

angry is, the fiercest, that was really good. Everybody you upset by

:14:52.:14:59.

missing your birthday and everything, thank you for putting up

:15:00.:15:02.

with it, basically. Just the amazing bunch of guys, getting us ready for

:15:03.:15:06.

that, that was a big race, I'm speechless.

:15:07.:15:16.

Emotions were definitely running high. James Cracknell with me,

:15:17.:15:21.

double Olympic champion, you heard in commentary, how do you reflect on

:15:22.:15:25.

the rowing at these Olympics in terms of the venue and performances?

:15:26.:15:28.

The venue is outstanding in terms of being a swimming pool with Christ

:15:29.:15:34.

the Redeemer with the Copacabana behind, it is stunning. It is not a

:15:35.:15:38.

man-made lake which made it is open to the element and the fact the sale

:15:39.:15:42.

is so close to the rowing is generally not good because sailors

:15:43.:15:45.

like wind and roars hated. Hibi the toughest venue ever? The crews have

:15:46.:15:51.

faced delays, the New Zealand women's aid raced twice in the same

:15:52.:15:55.

day because everything got slammed together and everything, look at it,

:15:56.:16:00.

there are waking up not sure if they will race and when you miss a day

:16:01.:16:04.

the governing body will try and raise anyway even in an fair

:16:05.:16:06.

condition and if your lane is worse than the one next year is good make

:16:07.:16:11.

for hundreds of the second difference, use or in the dead heats

:16:12.:16:15.

that is a life changer. That effect on the men's eight winning gold,

:16:16.:16:19.

said an introduction this year is regarded as the blue ribbon event at

:16:20.:16:23.

it is a phenomenal thing to get eight men and a Cox that can perform

:16:24.:16:26.

better than anyone else in the world. The Brits have had three wins

:16:27.:16:33.

in the last three World Championships, but last year the

:16:34.:16:36.

best four got taken out and put in the men's four for them to retain

:16:37.:16:39.

the confidence and belief they can beat the Germans, the best eight

:16:40.:16:43.

German rowers, the event they focus on is tremendous, they've beaten

:16:44.:16:46.

them all season and today they did and that is what the Olympics are

:16:47.:16:49.

about and getting it right on that one day every four years, but for

:16:50.:16:55.

many of them, Andy Hodge and others have gold, silver and bronze medals

:16:56.:17:00.

from London in -- and Beijing, they didn't want anything other than

:17:01.:17:03.

gold, those are for years wasted if they did get caught. They pulled it

:17:04.:17:07.

off and I have to congratulate Phelan Hill, that was quite a

:17:08.:17:11.

balancing act. What about the woman, first-ever medal for the eight? The

:17:12.:17:14.

gone through some disruption, there was talk of Kathleen Raine --

:17:15.:17:18.

Katherine Grainger and Vicky Thornley coming in, and you rate

:17:19.:17:23.

that? As a performance, they won their heat, the first time the

:17:24.:17:25.

British women have ever got fired for the final, and because the

:17:26.:17:31.

Americans won the other heat, America the USA and then 500 metres,

:17:32.:17:34.

one quarter of the distance gone there in last place. Suddenly they

:17:35.:17:39.

haven't got the resilience, the Americans have been unbeaten since

:17:40.:17:43.

2005 season they weren't leading they would have had confidence we

:17:44.:17:47.

would get the line whereas the Brits could have said we're in last, maybe

:17:48.:17:51.

it is not on and they didn't crack, they picked the crews off one one

:17:52.:17:58.

and came through and they won that silver, they beat every other crew

:17:59.:18:01.

all the way down, this is the confidence that comes with the

:18:02.:18:04.

history in the event for the Americans that saw them through.

:18:05.:18:07.

Great Britain finished top in the medals table in terms of the

:18:08.:18:10.

regatta, would you say that was a performance that was on par or

:18:11.:18:15.

better than that? The funding of the sport is based on the predictions

:18:16.:18:20.

made, so Britain predicted back in 2012 what we would win into a

:18:21.:18:24.

deserted and we said 6-8, we won five, we are below predictions and

:18:25.:18:31.

the big change is in London we got one gold and two silver, here none

:18:32.:18:36.

made the final, which is where the drop came for the men's four and

:18:37.:18:39.

men's eight winning is phenomenal and for the women's pair, it is

:18:40.:18:44.

expected is a harsh thing because you must deliver it, they've raised

:18:45.:18:48.

incredibly well yesterday, and the way crass and Ricky Thornley and

:18:49.:18:52.

Vicky Thornley raced their file, those of the two best races they've

:18:53.:18:56.

had in the two years and that is phenomenal on the big stage and very

:18:57.:19:00.

rare, it will come back in as good as the most medals, she has medal at

:19:01.:19:04.

five Olympics she's been too and that is for Arman Hall. Fantastic

:19:05.:19:08.

her. There was a moment of controversial maybe that dead heat

:19:09.:19:13.

in the singles sculls and the gold went to Drysdale of New Zealand, did

:19:14.:19:16.

you think he definitely finish in front of Croatia? The thing is, it

:19:17.:19:24.

isn't much I can feel, they put the image up, we did not see the full to

:19:25.:19:28.

finish, they were not given the same time that it because given the same

:19:29.:19:31.

time and my head was awarded the gold but on the big screen they

:19:32.:19:34.

don't put the foot finish up, at the foot of finish and I couldn't tell

:19:35.:19:40.

which way it went, so I thought make them rewrote it. Assuming they both

:19:41.:19:46.

went as hard as they could come up -- as they could, go and do it

:19:47.:19:51.

again. My hair is defending Olympic champion, Martin hasn't got a medal

:19:52.:19:56.

so for him silver come he didn't expect come second. If my hair came

:19:57.:20:00.

second something would have kicked off. Interesting. Ever honest. Thank

:20:01.:20:05.

you so much, brilliant. Great racing, not my commentary. The

:20:06.:20:09.

commentary was pretty good. Focusing in the water now and the first Welsh

:20:10.:20:14.

Olympian to win two medals here at an Olympic Games. Jazz Carlin.

:20:15.:20:17.

All these years I've trained these hours and these early mornings. I've

:20:18.:20:28.

got to tell you, Jazz Carlin looks great. Will's Jazz Carlin in silver

:20:29.:20:33.

medal position and holding well. Wonderful silver medal for Great

:20:34.:20:36.

Britain. A confidence booster list will be. I honestly can't believe

:20:37.:20:46.

it. I'm on the edge of tears. -- I honestly can't believe it. Jazz

:20:47.:20:49.

Carlin is already looking strong and Constable. The deadly blowing the

:20:50.:20:53.

field away, she will blow field away, the second story is the silver

:20:54.:20:59.

medal. 3-way tie now. For that silver and bronze. Jazz Carlin

:21:00.:21:03.

picked up the pace again, silver for climbing, -- for Jazz Carlin. Well

:21:04.:21:07.

done jazz. An incredible feeling to be silver medallist. Not first Welsh

:21:08.:21:15.

Olympian ever but the first 44 years to win two medals at the same games

:21:16.:21:19.

in the -- at the first Welsh woman to win a medal in the pool since

:21:20.:21:23.

1932. Fabulous return, look at those silver medals and such a difference

:21:24.:21:27.

from four years ago when you missed London because you weren't well.

:21:28.:21:30.

Four years ago I was watching on the sidelines cheering and now to be

:21:31.:21:36.

part of the Olympics representing Team GB and come away with two

:21:37.:21:38.

medals I'm over the moon, it feels so real. What will be the moment you

:21:39.:21:46.

remember forever of? For me I was on the common beforehand and I watch

:21:47.:21:49.

Adam Peaty break the world record and win gold and it inspired me to

:21:50.:21:53.

my head goes on before I raced at going and wins over, I was over the

:21:54.:21:57.

moon. With both of your races you had to contend with Katie Ledecky,

:21:58.:22:01.

she has won four gold medals in the pool for the USA, how much you have

:22:02.:22:06.

to think, I'm racing for second or is there a part of you that says,

:22:07.:22:09.

I'm going to try and beat her? It is always difficult when you have

:22:10.:22:13.

someone so incredible in your events, I try and stick to my race

:22:14.:22:16.

plan and obviously I was fighting for those medals, trying to be on

:22:17.:22:20.

the podium and to get my hand on the wall in silver position twice is

:22:21.:22:24.

pretty special, voyeur behind someone so great. And the fastest

:22:25.:22:29.

race ever. I know, the fastest podium swim on a hundred freestyle,

:22:30.:22:34.

so to be part of that and Godinet two solid performances I was really

:22:35.:22:38.

happy. Have you enjoy the experience? Luckily you didn't get

:22:39.:22:42.

lost on a boss like Paul Farnham who mentored athletics arena by mistake

:22:43.:22:46.

and easily final had been delayed. Luckily I had quite a smooth road

:22:47.:22:49.

and enjoyed every minute. I'm enjoying my experience and I'm going

:22:50.:22:54.

to be to James, one of my great friends, to note in the cycling and

:22:55.:22:57.

I have my fingers crossed because I will root for her tonight. The

:22:58.:23:00.

winner times you can do that and still get to the pool does abort

:23:01.:23:04.

Fran. Definitely, they are both on the night and I'm excited, a massive

:23:05.:23:08.

fan of Team GB and we will cheer everyone on for the next week when

:23:09.:23:12.

I'm here. You can enjoy yourself now and I suppose eventually will take

:23:13.:23:16.

the holiday because this has been a long preparation for you, so

:23:17.:23:20.

detailed in the way you got ready for this committee is another oxygen

:23:21.:23:24.

tent at home. Obviously we do a lot at home just to improve by that

:23:25.:23:27.

small margin and it has managed to pay off here to get two silver

:23:28.:23:31.

medals. I haven't got a holiday book but I hope to get one sorted when

:23:32.:23:34.

I'm home and I cannot wait to go away somewhere and put my feet up

:23:35.:23:38.

and relax and celebrate everything. You have swum phenomenally, well

:23:39.:23:42.

done, enjoy watching Becky tonight. I'll see you in the velodrome later.

:23:43.:23:47.

Many thanks to Jazz Carlin, great meet for her and the last night of

:23:48.:23:51.

sleep tonight -- swimming tonight. It finishes off with the medley

:23:52.:23:55.

relay, USA against Great Britain and Adam Peaty going in there. Andy

:23:56.:24:01.

Murray is through to the gold medal match in the tennis. His defence of

:24:02.:24:07.

his Olympic title starting in style and a fabulous rally to give himself

:24:08.:24:08.

his third match point. Watch this. Moriya left sitting on his backside

:24:09.:24:42.

but he knew that gave him a chance to serve once again for a place in

:24:43.:24:47.

the gold medal match. He did it hugely emotionally, you know how

:24:48.:24:50.

much this means Jim, carried the flag at the opening ceremony,

:24:51.:24:53.

desperate to defend title here. It will be either Rafa Nadal -- Rob

:24:54.:24:59.

Elder -- Nadal or Juan Martin Del Potro and they are still in action.

:25:00.:25:05.

It is one each in the second set after Nadal took the first set. This

:25:06.:25:13.

is what Murray said after his win. Congratulations, and Olympic

:25:14.:25:15.

medallist once again. I'm very happy about that, today is a big match and

:25:16.:25:22.

if you lose, obviously mentally you are down and you have to come back

:25:23.:25:26.

the next day to try and win a medal and getting through today guarantees

:25:27.:25:30.

you got one and you get a chance to play for goal. It is a great

:25:31.:25:35.

position to be in, I'm very happy. After the scare you give us

:25:36.:25:38.

yesterday you look much more comfortable today, the penultimate

:25:39.:25:42.

point at the crowd on its feet, what was your assessment of the match? I

:25:43.:25:45.

played a really good match, the last game obviously got quite tense, he

:25:46.:25:52.

played a couple of great points, one break point on the first match

:25:53.:25:59.

point, second match point, sorry. Obviously the Jews point was our

:26:00.:26:07.

lucky shot at the end. -- douce. I'm sure. Plenty of practice behind

:26:08.:26:10.

that. The other thing is Great Britain are up to third in the medal

:26:11.:26:15.

table, another gold in rowing and silver this morning. As flag bearer

:26:16.:26:19.

for the team, how much would it mean to add a gold to the tally tomorrow?

:26:20.:26:23.

It would mean a lot, that was a huge honour for me, I was very proud to

:26:24.:26:29.

get the chance to do that, the team has done extremely well over the

:26:30.:26:34.

last few days, especially. I'm happy I've added a medal to the tally so

:26:35.:26:40.

far, hopefully I can make it a gold one tomorrow but some amazing

:26:41.:26:46.

achievements from everyone in the team and are very proud to be part

:26:47.:26:50.

of it. Best of luck defending your title. Thank you. Catherine was the

:26:51.:26:58.

questions there, let's get the very latest on Rafa Nadal against Juan

:26:59.:27:03.

Martin Del Potro. This is live on BBC Four. Nishikori will go to a

:27:04.:27:05.

bronze medal match against whoever loses this match. It looks from the

:27:06.:27:17.

scoreboard like Del Porto is 2-1 up on serve. We will hope many of you

:27:18.:27:24.

get up in the early hours of the morning to continue watching the

:27:25.:27:27.

heptathlon, effectively this is Super Saturday, turning something

:27:28.:27:33.

into an early super Sunday. Three heptathlon events last night,

:27:34.:27:37.

Jessica Ennis-Hill was leading in defence of her title, Katarina

:27:38.:27:39.

Johnson-Thompson sitting in third, the big danger is Belgian's nappy

:27:40.:27:57.

TM. -- Siam Dott Diame -- Thiam. Katarina Johnson-Thompson a lifetime

:27:58.:28:01.

best first day yesterday in fourth place, first event in Longdon. That

:28:02.:28:05.

is a decent jump for Katarina Johnson-Thompson, the white flag

:28:06.:28:09.

raised. 6.51 in round one, not great, she is capable of better.

:28:10.:28:13.

Jessica Ennis-Hill. Leader overnight. A decent jump, 6.34 into

:28:14.:28:19.

a strong wind, good stuff for Jessica Ennis-Hill, reigning Olympic

:28:20.:28:26.

champion. Thiam. It is massive, look at that? Must have been over the

:28:27.:28:32.

board. Into round two, Brianne Theisen-Eaton, it is a valid jump.

:28:33.:28:38.

Katarina Johnson-Thompson in the second round, that is a big effort,

:28:39.:28:43.

but it is a foul unfortunately. Johnson-Thompson, last round. It

:28:44.:28:48.

isn't quite what we would have wanted. Jessica Ennis-Hill, third

:28:49.:28:55.

jump in the long jump, she needs a big jump here, but if it came down

:28:56.:29:00.

early. Here's Johnny Miller cello's reaction. Not happy. He knew that

:29:01.:29:06.

was a chance to put daylight between her and the rest of the world. --

:29:07.:29:11.

her coach's reaction. That is better, she likes it, 6.5 eight.

:29:12.:29:15.

That will give Ennis-Hill something to think about. With the javelin and

:29:16.:29:25.

800 metres to come later tonight, Thiam leads, Ennis-Hill is the

:29:26.:29:27.

second and Katarina Johnson-Thompson is in third, it will be a

:29:28.:29:31.

nail-biting finish today had taken on here in Rio. Sticking with the

:29:32.:29:35.

long jump and specifically Longdon, Gregory Havret -- Greg Rutherford

:29:36.:29:42.

snuck into the final. This was his final qualification jump, he had to

:29:43.:29:45.

know jumps and it was enough to see him finish tenth out of 12 and his

:29:46.:29:49.

final as he defends his title would get underway just before 1am. He had

:29:50.:29:59.

to get it right, he did it. He is currently the holder of every long

:30:00.:30:03.

jump title that exists and determined to win another gold medal

:30:04.:30:05.

here in Rio. The main man in the 100 metres got

:30:06.:30:17.

underway earlier today. He has been visiting the fabulous here in Rio,

:30:18.:30:23.

and riding the bus, but this is what he came here for, the hundred

:30:24.:30:35.

metres, and comfortable enough. Favelas. James Dasaolu finished in

:30:36.:30:43.

third and he goes through as one of the fastest losers. Jo Pavey is

:30:44.:30:48.

competing at her fifth Olympics, how are you? Fine, thanks. Were you

:30:49.:30:53.

happy, your season's best? I would like to run quicker but I have had a

:30:54.:31:01.

good season. I'm glad to be soaking it up, I enjoyed it and I gave it my

:31:02.:31:08.

all. Crazy race but I enjoyed it. If you are giving advice to anyone

:31:09.:31:11.

competing at their first Olympics, what would you say about it? Keep

:31:12.:31:17.

trying, at school I dreamt of going to the Olympic Games and I never

:31:18.:31:21.

thought I'd be doing five. Just learn along the way, I learned a lot

:31:22.:31:24.

about what works for me and what didn't work. At my age I can use my

:31:25.:31:31.

experience. When I was younger I was a bit inexperienced, kept getting

:31:32.:31:35.

injured, thought I'd always be injured, but finding ways of

:31:36.:31:37.

overcoming injury. Don't give up, follow your dreams. Your event is

:31:38.:31:43.

particularly painful, so are you thinking that it hurts, or do you

:31:44.:31:48.

think it's fun? I try and keep track of the pace, I have my lap times

:31:49.:31:54.

memorised, I try and keep relaxed and stale my feet, so many people

:31:55.:31:58.

fall down when there is 37 people like we had yesterday -- on my feet.

:31:59.:32:04.

Keep relaxed but push hard when it starts to hurt, especially that

:32:05.:32:07.

race, it's the Olympic Games, give everything. Dig deep. In the

:32:08.:32:13.

cycling, the code stands that it held the team with their feet,

:32:14.:32:19.

whether they are up or down, but you don't have anybody helping you, so

:32:20.:32:23.

do you look at the clock? Some people were confused about how many

:32:24.:32:26.

laps they had left. Because the leader was so far clear? Because the

:32:27.:32:33.

leader broke the record by so much. Some people misjudged how many laps

:32:34.:32:36.

they had left, it was really confusing. Because I had an

:32:37.:32:40.

awareness of where I should be, I knew how many laps I had but it was

:32:41.:32:44.

a confusing picture even for people watching. We switch attention to

:32:45.:32:49.

another great distance runner tonight with Mo Farah, who was part

:32:50.:32:53.

of that amazing trio of gold medals on Super Saturday four years ago.

:32:54.:33:02.

Yes, did the job. How did you find running, how did it find you? I

:33:03.:33:16.

always loved football, in Somalia when I was a kid, we would get a lot

:33:17.:33:22.

of socks and we would play with it, like a football, going down the

:33:23.:33:26.

street and having a kick around and that was it. I had quite a lot of

:33:27.:33:33.

energy from just running around. We joined our Father in Britain, he was

:33:34.:33:38.

in the UK, we moved here, the age of eight, not speaking a word of

:33:39.:33:44.

English. Was it tough? It was tough, you get through it and it has helped

:33:45.:33:48.

me, to be who I am and to be grateful for what I'm doing. Some of

:33:49.:33:56.

those experiences when you are young kids, good or bad, it shapes you

:33:57.:34:02.

today and not just as a runner, but as a father and a man. Sometimes it

:34:03.:34:07.

is hard, I am a father of four kids and when you are away from them.

:34:08.:34:11.

Much time, it's difficult. The best thing for me, winning medals and

:34:12.:34:16.

continuing winning medals, then it's worth the sacrifice and that's what

:34:17.:34:27.

really drives me. 2006, 2007, got this great potential and I'm going,

:34:28.:34:34.

OK, yeah, when is it going to come and in 2008 you make the final and

:34:35.:34:39.

then the Olympic Games in London, amazing performance. You've been

:34:40.:34:43.

dominating since then. What was the difference in realising that

:34:44.:34:47.

potential? A lot of stuff I was missing, I was missing a coach who

:34:48.:34:51.

could help me to the next level and mentally, someone who could talk to

:34:52.:34:56.

you. Alberto has done a lot in terms of changing me as an athlete. There

:34:57.:35:02.

was obviously some tough times in the past, Alberto Salazar

:35:03.:35:07.

investigation, take me through what you were thinking and how you dealt

:35:08.:35:13.

with that situation. To be honest I was very disappointed, the way that

:35:14.:35:16.

the media turned against me, writing so many never give -- negative

:35:17.:35:22.

articles. I wasn't in control. I tried to be honest, tell the truth.

:35:23.:35:27.

If there's any allegation against Alberto and it has come true and he

:35:28.:35:31.

has crossed the line, I'm the first one out. Over the last four years,

:35:32.:35:37.

every championship you go to as the favourite. Do you like that? I like

:35:38.:35:44.

that. I think I'm the favourite and I've done well in the past going in

:35:45.:35:48.

as the favourite. A lot of athletes don't like that position. I liked

:35:49.:35:54.

it. I like it. What is it you like about being the favourite, the

:35:55.:35:58.

confidence boost? Definitely the confidence boost, believing in

:35:59.:36:02.

myself, knowing I'm a better athlete than I was four, five years ago. Mo

:36:03.:36:09.

Farah, looking to become Britain's's first ever three-time Olympic

:36:10.:36:13.

champion in athletics. He will go tonight, just after 1am. Jo knows

:36:14.:36:18.

all about running ten kilometres. How difficult is it for Mo Farah if

:36:19.:36:22.

the others gang up against him because it can be a difficult race

:36:23.:36:27.

tactically? Mo Farah is the favourite and he can be competitive,

:36:28.:36:32.

he can run fast, he has the powerful finish, it has been very hard for

:36:33.:36:36.

anyone else to beat him. His preparations have gone well, he has

:36:37.:36:40.

been at altitude putting in the work and he has come to the village in

:36:41.:36:45.

relaxed form. We saw him getting a mass art, he was happy with how

:36:46.:36:48.

things went. Fingers crossed for the historic race -- mass art. How much

:36:49.:36:54.

does the success of the rowers, the swimmers and divers rub off on the

:36:55.:37:02.

body else? Yes, the team have been doing amazingly, we have a big chart

:37:03.:37:09.

for Team GB, the gold medals and the camaraderie and spirit have been

:37:10.:37:15.

amazing. For me, soaking up the atmosphere, everyone has been doing

:37:16.:37:19.

so well, we are getting a record medal tally for the away Games.

:37:20.:37:24.

Spirit is very high in the camp. Are you going to the track tonight to

:37:25.:37:29.

cheer them on? I am planning to, it is strange to be finished so soon.

:37:30.:37:35.

For it to be over on the first morning, I can go to the stadium and

:37:36.:37:40.

I can go and cheerful Mo Farah and also Andy and Ross. After all you've

:37:41.:37:44.

done for British athletics, I think you deserve to enjoy the rest of the

:37:45.:37:49.

Olympics! I'm going home midway through because of the kids, but

:37:50.:37:53.

I've really enjoyed being part of the team, the youngsters that are

:37:54.:37:58.

half my age! They inspire me, we have a great team and I'm loving it

:37:59.:38:03.

and soaking it in. Lovely to see you again. And you, Cheers. Let me take

:38:04.:38:07.

you through the timetable for the athletics if you're planning to stay

:38:08.:38:11.

up or going to bed and getting up again.

:38:12.:38:20.

The men's long jump, Greg Rutherford defending his title. The ten K: Mo

:38:21.:38:34.

Farah. And then the final event for the women's heptathlon, the 800

:38:35.:38:40.

metres. Could it be Super Saturday all over again? When I meet someone

:38:41.:38:49.

for the first time, a lot of them tell me where they were on Super

:38:50.:38:52.

Saturday. People want to be a part of that night. Crossing the line and

:38:53.:38:59.

having my family. The atmosphere was incredible, it is a new experience.

:39:00.:39:05.

I'll never experience it in my entire life. Knowing that I put

:39:06.:39:08.

those events together and it had gone right, amazing feeling. That

:39:09.:39:20.

gold medal changed everything. Did that really happen?

:39:21.:39:27.

Super Saturday becomes sensational early morning Sunday. Four years ago

:39:28.:39:36.

they won those gold medals in the space of 44 minutes, you won't have

:39:37.:39:40.

to stay up for long but it will be worth it! Let's go to the water and

:39:41.:39:44.

join Shelley Robinson for an update on the sailing. A lot is happening

:39:45.:39:49.

today and I can hardly keep up. Next story for Team GB, Giles Scott, who

:39:50.:39:55.

has one more day before his medal race and today he was on flying

:39:56.:40:01.

form, first and third and now he is 16 points clear of his nearest

:40:02.:40:05.

competitor. If he goes 20 points clear he will have won the gold

:40:06.:40:08.

medal already. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. He'll be happy to have had

:40:09.:40:13.

a strong day and consolidating his spot. Nick Thompson in the men's

:40:14.:40:19.

single-handed, the laser class, the final day before his medal race. He

:40:20.:40:23.

is in bronze position but it is very tight at the top, I'm looking

:40:24.:40:30.

forward to the final, it is going to be a battle to the end. At my side

:40:31.:40:39.

is the women laser, Alison Young is showing a good bit of form.

:40:40.:40:44.

Generally, how are the conditions because in the park we have a bit of

:40:45.:40:53.

wind. It is a peachy day here, it is 40 knots, sunny, it is lovely. Many

:40:54.:40:57.

of the fleets have been racing in the Atlantic Ocean. It is like two

:40:58.:41:04.

different venues, it is quite a place. Here, a lot of shifting and

:41:05.:41:09.

flat water butt out there, massive seas, so we've seen it all in Rio --

:41:10.:41:18.

but out there. We were worried about the quality of water for the sailing

:41:19.:41:22.

but we didn't note the talking point would be the talking point at the

:41:23.:41:26.

diving. Leon Taylor is there, we have Grace Reid in an event in Masoe

:41:27.:41:33.

bring us up to date on that and the colour of the diving pool. She has

:41:34.:41:40.

some work to do. The good news is that there is 18 women in the

:41:41.:41:44.

semifinal and be cut down to 12, so if Grace goes up a gear, she will be

:41:45.:41:50.

in the final. You can see behind me that the pool is still green,

:41:51.:41:54.

looking more like a pond. The nearest colour I've come up with,

:41:55.:41:58.

suggested to me, a bit like the Manchester shipping canal, colour

:41:59.:42:06.

wise. Great stuff, thank you. You can follow the diving on its own.

:42:07.:42:10.

Let's get an update on the tennis, Nadal against Dell four, the winner

:42:11.:42:16.

playing Andy Murray in the gold final match. -- against Del Potro.

:42:17.:42:25.

The winner will play Andy Murray in the final. Golf, reintroduced to the

:42:26.:42:32.

Olympics and fair to say that nobody, certainly from Britain or

:42:33.:42:35.

Europe embraced it more warmly than Justin Rose and he currently leads

:42:36.:42:40.

on 12 under par from the open champion, Henrik Stenson. Let's pick

:42:41.:42:46.

it up with Justin Rose on the 17th of his third round.

:42:47.:43:12.

COMMENTATOR: Well, he is on the putting surface but he is some

:43:13.:43:18.

distance from the pin. Justin Rose, leading the tournament

:43:19.:43:44.

at 12-under par. Cabrera bellow has the 8-iron -- Cabrera Bello. The

:43:45.:43:55.

wind is into the face of the golfers on the 17th tee and they will be

:43:56.:44:01.

also on the 18th. Drilling it in, the flatter trajectory from the

:44:02.:44:09.

Spaniard. That's in the sand. Back to 16. Fraser.

:44:10.:44:28.

Ooh. Stop pretty quickly. Wanted another skip on there. -- stopped.

:44:29.:45:04.

The reaction of Henrik Stenson, frustrated that there wasn't a bit

:45:05.:45:09.

less action on the ball. Needed to get up a bit. Now, Rose. Inside the

:45:10.:45:22.

Green, still a birdie chance on 17. The leader by one, from Stenson.

:45:23.:45:29.

This is to go two clear. He's given it a chance, Justin Rose.

:45:30.:45:47.

Yesterday Marcus Fraser had a similar shop here, pitched it to the

:45:48.:45:52.

top of the mount on the ball rolled all the way back. It was an error

:45:53.:46:03.

and he bogeyed in round two map. A little short with that one as well,

:46:04.:46:08.

not his best. Far from his best, it will roll away again. This is a bit

:46:09.:46:15.

of a nightmare hole for Marcus Fraser, pretty elementary chip shot.

:46:16.:46:29.

Stenson with a birdie at 16. He didn't enjoy the trip, I saw his

:46:30.:46:36.

frustration. For him it was not his best by some distance. -- chip. He

:46:37.:46:46.

now has this for birdie. Once again draw level with Justin Rose at 12

:46:47.:46:53.

under. If he does it will be a three shot gap between them and Fraser.

:46:54.:47:04.

And then six and is tied for fourth. -- six under. Justin Rose has this

:47:05.:47:15.

for par Stenson deliberates his breed at 16. Leader by one. -- is

:47:16.:47:26.

read. Justin Rose stays on 12-under. One left to play. He stays at

:47:27.:47:40.

12-under par. Stenson, this putt for birdie on 16. To draw level with

:47:41.:47:50.

Britain's Justin Rose. Henrik Stenson, Sweden, for birdie on 16.

:47:51.:48:00.

That is a chance missed her Stenson -- for Stenson, so par on 16. More

:48:01.:48:13.

than the putt it was the chip he let himself down with. He needed to get

:48:14.:48:16.

the ball closer. Hitting a big draw into the 18th

:48:17.:48:42.

fairway. It will be just fine. Skirting a little to the left. It

:48:43.:48:50.

looked like it was on a good line. Maybe a little too much draw.

:48:51.:48:56.

Fraser makes his par. Remainers 9-under.

:48:57.:49:05.

And also a slight draw down the 18th.

:49:06.:49:41.

Gregory Bourdy has continued to slip back. He now finds himself on

:49:42.:49:52.

6-under, tied for fourth with Bubba Watson amongst others David

:49:53.:50:00.

Lingmerth, Emiliano Grillo, all players currently on 6-under.

:50:01.:50:07.

But the leaderboard looking, it has really changed its complexion. Top

:50:08.:50:23.

11 golfers down to 5-under par, seven shots between 11th place and

:50:24.:50:29.

Justin Rose on 12-under. Stenson, having missed out on his

:50:30.:50:52.

birdie on 16. Now I'm 17. -- now on 17.

:50:53.:51:04.

They made the mistake yesterday and he was furious with himself when he

:51:05.:51:17.

was short here on this shortest of the par threes on this golf course

:51:18.:51:22.

and he came up short and landed it in the sand. The pain was just over

:51:23.:51:30.

the front bunker. -- the pin. The wind has picked up, it is quite

:51:31.:51:36.

strong into their faces. Stenson trailing by one.

:51:37.:51:44.

It is directly, directly five, three yards left. The degree of difficulty

:51:45.:52:00.

of this entire course is almost exclusively dependent on the pin

:52:01.:52:04.

placings on their screens, it has been well thought out by the

:52:05.:52:12.

designer. He set it up to be a Championship course. It has been an

:52:13.:52:18.

intriguing test for the golfers. Some of whom have dominated on

:52:19.:52:26.

certain days. Stenson with the penultimate on day three.

:52:27.:52:37.

That is OK. It isn't bad. It was on the right line.

:52:38.:52:53.

You get them everywhere in the crowd. They shouted that Bubba

:52:54.:52:59.

Watson and it did go in the hole. CROWD: Go Justin! Not the worst mess

:53:00.:53:31.

by Justin Rose. Off the sand. Decent life. Just picked it up nicely,

:53:32.:53:37.

needed to get it down the fairway because no one with a headline --

:53:38.:53:41.

Edwin Poots realistically get it on in two. Couple might get it close.

:53:42.:53:47.

-- headwind. You wonder if Stenson might try. Justin Rose has gone the

:53:48.:53:55.

fair leading by one. He had two eagles today, Justin Rose. Henrik

:53:56.:53:59.

Stenson has only just started breaking his run together. Bubba

:54:00.:54:02.

Watson made a great charge and Rickie Fowler with the biggest move

:54:03.:54:08.

of the day. Cabrera Bello just dropping down the leaderboard.

:54:09.:54:22.

Thomas Pieters started at 9-under and is currently under. 6-over par.

:54:23.:54:34.

A hole in one at 84 this African. , Jack van Zyl. Roope Kakko how good

:54:35.:54:48.

solid spell of birdies. A little disappointing for incredibly

:54:49.:54:54.

talented Korean youngster, the youngest player. Justin Rose found

:54:55.:55:00.

the sand with his tee shot at 18, par-5 finishing hole, the wind has

:55:01.:55:06.

changed direction completely, it is an elevated green with a couple of

:55:07.:55:09.

hollows in front of it, just the one bunker on the back right. That has

:55:10.:55:15.

collected a number of polls that have gone off the back, and the pin

:55:16.:55:20.

on the back right. The hollows have been collecting areas. How many

:55:21.:55:34.

behind it? Seven. Do you know what? I will with this. It is a 68... I'm

:55:35.:55:47.

not even worried about it. It first. -- hit it first.

:55:48.:56:00.

Third shot to 18, Justin Rose, tournament leader. Dear, that is an

:56:01.:56:21.

miss, a big miss from Justin Rose. Not even pitch the green or the

:56:22.:56:25.

slope. Short of the green, hit the slope and kicked to the right.

:56:26.:56:35.

Please put the phones away. Set -- Stenson and 17. -- at 17. Lining up

:56:36.:56:43.

his birdie. It has got enough. Just not enough.

:56:44.:57:12.

Not convinced it had the right line, but certainly not firm enough from

:57:13.:57:13.

Henrik Stenson. Trucking down with a little punt and

:57:14.:57:47.

flies it onto the front, but it won't hold. It spins back off the

:57:48.:57:56.

front. Rose landing short and Bourdy failing to get it to hold. On the

:57:57.:57:59.

18th. Back at 17, Fraser for par. Up ahead on 18, Cabrera Bello, 94

:58:00.:58:33.

yards, 86 metres to the pin. High from the Spaniard. Justin Rose

:58:34.:58:46.

coming up short with his third year than last. -- here at last.

:58:47.:58:58.

Introduced by the tournament announcer, gets a big cheer, his

:58:59.:59:09.

playing partners as well. Gregory Bourdy and Rafa Cabrera Bello.

:59:10.:59:33.

Cabrera Bello safely on the 18th green. Rose and Bourdy looking to

:59:34.:59:41.

get up but on the 18th tee is Stenson. Sorry, we've got to pull

:59:42.:59:49.

away from the golf and I will ignore how Justin Rose finishes Ofcom he's

:59:50.:59:52.

leading on 12-under par with one more round to come. Chris Hoey and I

:59:53.:59:57.

are here at the velodrome because we have exciting quarterfinals and

:59:58.:00:01.

semifinals tonight at the men's sprint at the two fastest

:00:02.:00:03.

qualifiers, both British, Jason Kenny and Calum Skinner.

:00:04.:00:10.

Jason has looked an imperious form. Callan must be Jason's biggest

:00:11.:00:23.

threat. No worries in the semifinal. The Chinese riders, completing

:00:24.:00:29.

against Callum, I think he's happy to make it to the last eight. It is

:00:30.:00:32.

the knockout stage, the best of three. If they make a mistake they

:00:33.:00:37.

will have a second chance but if they lose in the best of free ride,

:00:38.:00:42.

they are out of the competition and they will be competing in the 5-8

:00:43.:00:47.

final. Quarterfinals and semifinals tonight and the semifinal tomorrow.

:00:48.:00:51.

That's unusual, normally you have the eight finals and the

:00:52.:00:57.

quarterfinals on one day. Quite a lot of racing today. They are used

:00:58.:01:01.

to that. It means that tomorrow will be quite unusual to come straight

:01:02.:01:05.

into the final without any racing before that. Jason Kenny is the most

:01:06.:01:09.

amazing athlete when it comes to the big event. He's just able to treat

:01:10.:01:13.

it like anything else and not let the pressure get to him, not do

:01:14.:01:20.

anything different. Callum Skinner. Callum equally, his first Olympics

:01:21.:01:24.

at 23, he was called to the team relatively late and he has dealt

:01:25.:01:28.

with the pressure incredibly well. The man who is taking on Jason

:01:29.:01:31.

Kenney, Patrick Constable of Australia. We have the women's team

:01:32.:01:39.

pursuit finals, Great Britain in the world record race and also the

:01:40.:01:45.

keirin final. Medals won't be decided here today, but Callum

:01:46.:01:50.

Skinner and Jason Kenney must keep on winning. COMMENTATOR: The first

:01:51.:01:57.

quarterfinal is a minute or two away. Looking at Jason Kenney, who,

:01:58.:02:03.

of course, has a Gold Medal in his back pocket already from the team

:02:04.:02:06.

sprint on the first night of competition. He has looked very

:02:07.:02:15.

sharp in the qualifying, setting an Olympic record and also in the first

:02:16.:02:21.

round. In the first round he won very convincingly. Constable, he was

:02:22.:02:33.

good, he gave Callum Skinner a run for his money and he had to come

:02:34.:02:39.

back through the repechage. Tactically, going extremely well. I

:02:40.:02:43.

think he's got his work cut out now. That's for sure. Both riders came

:02:44.:02:50.

into cycling through talent ID programmes in their respective

:02:51.:02:55.

countries. Jason Kenney, from Bolton. Getting a good cheer from

:02:56.:03:07.

the crowd. -- Kenny. Constable is far less experienced, just 20 years

:03:08.:03:13.

old, from South Australia, a former serving life saver. Spotted by the

:03:14.:03:17.

Australian talent ID programme, doing very well in the tests and

:03:18.:03:26.

look at him now, the former world junior champion competing in the

:03:27.:03:34.

match sprint. Jason Kenny here. It is a three lap race. Interesting to

:03:35.:03:40.

see how Constable chooses to take it on. I think he would have to make it

:03:41.:03:48.

a tactical race. Jason has the bigger engine, I think he's proven

:03:49.:03:52.

that quite conclusively to this point in the competition so I

:03:53.:03:55.

imagine he'd want to get his nose in front. Jason, perhaps not so keen

:03:56.:04:02.

for that to happen. So I think we can look forward to a lively race.

:04:03.:04:07.

The best of three between these two. When you get to the last eight, all

:04:08.:04:11.

of the sprint races are best of three. Because they qualified the

:04:12.:04:18.

way they did, we hope the British riders don't meet each other until

:04:19.:04:22.

later on. I won't put the curse on it yet by making any kind of

:04:23.:04:26.

prediction. I did that yesterday with the team pursuit, saying that

:04:27.:04:30.

Ed Clancy was the best starter in the world and he wobbled out of the

:04:31.:04:34.

box. Don't talk about the women's team pursuit until they've got out

:04:35.:04:39.

on the track. Jason Kenny is out front. You need eyes on the back of

:04:40.:04:44.

your head, that is a rider's dies of you looking back to Patrick

:04:45.:04:47.

Constable, the young Australian. -- eyes. Jason Kenny is going to take

:04:48.:04:54.

the sprint from the front and Constable is going to do it, he can

:04:55.:04:59.

get good height on the track, he's going very high but not getting

:05:00.:05:03.

anywhere near Jason Kenny, who has a lot of daylight, taking the first

:05:04.:05:08.

ride in the quarterfinal. Constable went to the top of the track. Jason

:05:09.:05:12.

Kenny was just riding off onto the distance. Jason was sucking him in,

:05:13.:05:17.

bringing him close and that's exactly what he wanted, leaving him

:05:18.:05:21.

no room to manoeuvre and he dictated the pace throughout. Constable just

:05:22.:05:28.

pulled him up onto the wheel. There was nothing he could do. Jason chose

:05:29.:05:32.

the moment he was going to accelerate. He got the Kite on the

:05:33.:05:37.

track but that cost him distance and it was too late. I would have

:05:38.:05:42.

expected a slightly better tactical performance from him. Certainly

:05:43.:05:48.

delighted for Jason Kenny. So far, so good, for Jason Kenny, leading

:05:49.:05:54.

1-0. Just one win away from a place in the last four which will be in

:05:55.:06:00.

this session as well. Next onto the track, Callum Skinner. He really

:06:01.:06:09.

was, cometh the hour, cometh the man in the sprint final. Getting in

:06:10.:06:17.

through the repechage. He was up against Constable and the time did

:06:18.:06:21.

beautifully, waiting and waiting until the last banking before he

:06:22.:06:29.

launched his effort. Coming by a tenth of a second. Up against Xu

:06:30.:06:35.

Chao from China, the 21-year-old. Three silver medals in the Asian

:06:36.:06:40.

Championships earlier this year, beaten by a Korean in the final in

:06:41.:06:46.

the sprint. Callum Skinner, like Jason Kenny, has looked extremely

:06:47.:06:49.

sharp so far in this sprint competition. Three laps of the track

:06:50.:06:57.

in this best of 3/4-final. Callum Skinner did well in the match sprint

:06:58.:07:00.

in the World Championships, the fifth fastest qualifier in London

:07:01.:07:06.

and making it to the last eight where he was beaten by Denis

:07:07.:07:09.

Dmitriev, no disgrace in losing to the Russian who has been a medallist

:07:10.:07:14.

in each event over the last four years. Perhaps an overused term but

:07:15.:07:19.

if there is a dark horse, Denis Dmitriev is looking very strong in

:07:20.:07:24.

the second round ride. He is a wily competitor. Callum Skinner already

:07:25.:07:32.

having a dream Games here. It's all about seeing how far you can go. You

:07:33.:07:37.

wouldn't put it past him to get to the finals. Xu Chao, then, the

:07:38.:07:42.

Chinese rider, leading from the front. Skinner, high up on the track

:07:43.:07:52.

as they take the bell. And now the gap starts to close and look how

:07:53.:07:56.

quickly it closes. Callum Skinner is able to draw level as they go around

:07:57.:07:59.

the bank and into the final straight. He should ease through to

:08:00.:08:06.

win and he does so in fine style. That was a superb ride by Callum

:08:07.:08:10.

Skinner. He is all confidence and speed. Both British riders are yet

:08:11.:08:16.

to lose a match. Really strong performances. It must be

:08:17.:08:20.

demoralising for the competition. He already had him on the back

:08:21.:08:23.

straight, just cruising around the outside. He'll know the too that he

:08:24.:08:28.

has the pace coming around. When he is already moving forward in the

:08:29.:08:32.

banking, despite going three metres further, there's no way he was going

:08:33.:08:37.

to lose. Just under 200 metres to go, you could see what was going to

:08:38.:08:41.

happen. Excellent from Callum Skinner and Jason Kenny so far.

:08:42.:08:46.

Confirmation, the best of 3/4-final, heat two, Callum Skinner leading Xu

:08:47.:08:53.

Chao of China. STUDIO: Two morph heats to come. To bring you up to

:08:54.:09:02.

date on Justin Rose, his par putt on 18 -- two more. Just going in the

:09:03.:09:06.

side. That means he stays on 12-under, he is leading. Henrik

:09:07.:09:12.

Stenson, still out on the course, his closest competitor. The final

:09:13.:09:18.

round is tomorrow. What about the tennis? This is Del Potro, serving

:09:19.:09:22.

to level it up against Rafael Nadal. Which he does, 1-1, so they go to

:09:23.:09:29.

the third set decider. That's an BBC Four, the winner faces Andy Murray.

:09:30.:09:34.

Not such good news for Chris and Gabby Adcock, playing against their

:09:35.:09:44.

Polish opponents, who won it and the Adcocks are out of the Olympics. So,

:09:45.:09:50.

back to the men's spreads heat. We have Australia against Germany.

:09:51.:09:58.

COMMENTATOR: Eilers from Germany, a double world champion in the kilo

:09:59.:10:06.

and the keirin. And Matthew Glaetzer from Germany, silver-medallist in

:10:07.:10:09.

the World Championship in this event. Glaetzer is very much the man

:10:10.:10:23.

to keep an eye on. Going very quickly considering he was coming

:10:24.:10:33.

from the bottom. Eilers is a wily competitor and he timed his run to

:10:34.:10:37.

win his heat. It all came right for Eilers in the one kilometre in

:10:38.:10:43.

London, taking the Gold Medal after a bronze and two silvers in the

:10:44.:10:49.

three years preceding it. Finally a world champion. He added the keirin

:10:50.:10:53.

title to it as well. Doesn't want to hang about, the German taking up the

:10:54.:11:00.

track. Forced to increase the speed to keep control of this one. He is

:11:01.:11:06.

being carried by Eilers here. Much quicker pace about this one.

:11:07.:11:12.

Glaetzer riding from the front. Eilers with that big gear of his, a

:11:13.:11:17.

very powerful rider. Perhaps doesn't quite have the jump of the

:11:18.:11:21.

Australian rider as Glaetzer leads them out and then goes to the bottom

:11:22.:11:24.

of the track, making sure that the door was left open. Eilers almost up

:11:25.:11:30.

to the back wheel but he can't get any closer and Matthew Glaetzer now

:11:31.:11:33.

keeps the distance and makes sure that he stays in front. For him, a

:11:34.:11:41.

comfortable 1-0 lead. Great ride by the Australian, controlling it all

:11:42.:11:45.

the way. He's a fiery competitor, great bike handler and he kept the

:11:46.:11:50.

race down the bottom of the track, keeping the speed high, never giving

:11:51.:11:53.

him a chance to get ahead. He gave us a bit of a fright in Colombia in

:11:54.:11:59.

the World Championships, he crashed halfway down the finishing straight

:12:00.:12:02.

and his bike flipped up into the air and nearly landed in the commentary

:12:03.:12:07.

position! Maybe we'll hear more about it later. We saw more about it

:12:08.:12:12.

in the women's keirin earlier today. Some spectacular crashes. And some

:12:13.:12:22.

spectacular riding to avoid it, and some great riding by one of the

:12:23.:12:25.

Dutch women. Denis Dmitriev, of whom we were speaking a couple of moments

:12:26.:12:33.

ago, the experienced rider, in a repeat of the Championship finalist

:12:34.:12:41.

at -- final last year. Bauge is a four time world champion in this

:12:42.:12:44.

particular discipline, most recently last year. Nine world titles but

:12:45.:12:51.

he's still looking for an elusive first Olympic Gold Medal, stuck on

:12:52.:12:55.

three silvers and a bronze, which he got in the first evening of

:12:56.:13:04.

competition here, France finishing in third place behind Britain. Both

:13:05.:13:11.

two have gone round the block a view times. Bauge has had some successes

:13:12.:13:18.

in recent years, he hasn't found the form just recently -- a few times.

:13:19.:13:25.

Going well, here. Bitterly disappointed to miss out on gold in

:13:26.:13:28.

the team sprint competition. You can see the straps they are using,

:13:29.:13:34.

getting a bit more aerodynamic. They are clipped in using standard cleats

:13:35.:13:41.

on the pedals. They are putting down so much power, 2000 watts, these

:13:42.:13:48.

guys, they need extra security. Denis Dmitriev, two silvers and two

:13:49.:13:55.

bronze medals from the World Championships. Winning a medal in

:13:56.:14:00.

each of the last four years. And Gregory Bauge was the rider beaten

:14:01.:14:05.

by Jason Kenny in London in the Olympic final four years ago.

:14:06.:14:12.

This is the fourth and final quarterfinal. First race in the best

:14:13.:14:27.

of three. Very tactical ride from Bauge in the previous round. Cat and

:14:28.:14:32.

mouse stuff and I expect to see more of it here. I think Dmitriev looked

:14:33.:14:44.

very powerful in his eighth ride. So this one should be close.

:14:45.:15:01.

You can walk alongside them at this point, halfway down the backstreet

:15:02.:15:08.

on the first lap. Dmitriev will want to drive. He has the big action --

:15:09.:15:20.

the big engine. Bauge had a bit of a tussle with the Netherlands

:15:21.:15:28.

candidate in the last race, both diving down the inside one after the

:15:29.:15:35.

other. Bauge taking it. A real heavyweight clash between France and

:15:36.:15:44.

Russia. Dmitriev happy to just take his time at the back. Coal is coming

:15:45.:15:52.

to a standstill. You have the element of surprise riding at the

:15:53.:15:55.

back, but you've also got come around outside, which is what Bauge

:15:56.:16:00.

is trying to make sure happens, he wants to pin him there so he doesn't

:16:01.:16:04.

get a height advantage but is forced to come around outside so he has to

:16:05.:16:07.

follow him off when he loses the height advantage but there is an

:16:08.:16:12.

opportunity to go on the inside, so Dmitriev is looking for an

:16:13.:16:15.

opportunity when Bauge isn't paying attention to dive down and he is

:16:16.:16:20.

trying to trap him in and he fell for it. He has done well, Dmitriev.

:16:21.:16:26.

Bauge has been caught out by the Russian and the sprinters on, 200

:16:27.:16:31.

metres to go down the back straight. Bauge comes back level, pretty sharp

:16:32.:16:35.

into the banking neck and neck, we'd expect nothing less between these

:16:36.:16:39.

two elbow to elbow for most of the way but then Dmitriev just had the

:16:40.:16:43.

little extra gear which enabled him to cross the line in first. As they

:16:44.:16:48.

came into the finishing straight it was a fine battle between the pair.

:16:49.:16:53.

Dmitriev leads by 1-0 in the best-of-3/4-final.

:16:54.:17:01.

Fantastic start to the men's sprint, I'm joined by some very special

:17:02.:17:07.

guests and before we speak to Bradley Wiggins and the men's team

:17:08.:17:13.

pursuit, let's closely see how they won a nail-biting gold medal in the

:17:14.:17:24.

men's team Bush last night. I believe in the group, you find

:17:25.:17:28.

yourself surrounded by some of the best, most underrated athletes in

:17:29.:17:32.

the world. Without those guys would not be able to try and win Olympic

:17:33.:17:39.

gold. You just think, how can we lose? Man for man I cannot see

:17:40.:17:40.

anyone else that can beat my team. Ed Clancy is my number one. There is

:17:41.:17:58.

nothing else for it, but a sharp, strong start. New Zealand, as

:17:59.:18:06.

expected, fighting hard. Great Britain at this moment on course for

:18:07.:18:11.

the final. We can see on their faces they are working hard for this. Four

:18:12.:18:16.

laps to go, Wiggins on the front for Great Britain, so far so good.

:18:17.:18:19.

Wiggins just did another mammoth turnout has bailed out. We're about

:18:20.:18:25.

to find out as they come towards the line, Britain cross the line and

:18:26.:18:30.

they've broken the world record! Sensational cycling here in Rio.

:18:31.:18:44.

Brilliant stuff. The Olympic final, men's team pursuit.

:18:45.:18:56.

The race for old underway, Australia against Great Britain. Australia,

:18:57.:19:02.

the world champions. It is good, strong cart on behalf of Australia.

:19:03.:19:10.

And Australia are trying to put the Brits under pressure. Great Britain

:19:11.:19:15.

will work to do here. The halfway mark, it is nearly seven tenths of

:19:16.:19:21.

one second and then Australia in the box seat. Great Britain are coming

:19:22.:19:25.

back, the roar goes up inside the velodrome, six laps to glory and

:19:26.:19:29.

Australia are down to three already, Wiggins has handed over to Ed

:19:30.:19:32.

Clancy, down to three they are in the lead. It will go right down to

:19:33.:19:40.

the wire, it is coming down to the last lap. Great Britain or

:19:41.:19:43.

Australia? It will be Great Britain in a world record time. The last 12

:19:44.:19:55.

months we've done everything together. It was incredible. All for

:19:56.:20:01.

this. It was unbelievable. We've done it. Absolutely amazing. When

:20:02.:20:05.

you're with guys like that on the line, it makes your job much easier.

:20:06.:20:26.

And the only thing missing just now is Bradley Wiggins's gold medal.

:20:27.:20:35.

I've lost it. It's in a bag somewhere. Your team last night not

:20:36.:20:39.

get caught up in the motion it all. Now you've had time to reflect from

:20:40.:20:45.

the performance of the EULA is a team and your cheap and over fifth

:20:46.:20:48.

gold, and eighth medal, what you think? I don't know, doesn't feel

:20:49.:20:52.

any different yesterday was that it still hasn't sunk in. You watch that

:20:53.:20:57.

now and we were speaking last night, driving out into the town here how

:20:58.:21:01.

different it could have been the more we spoke about little things

:21:02.:21:04.

that happened in the race, like I touched on's wheel at one point and

:21:05.:21:09.

Ed was unaware of that and you think, had it gone, it could have

:21:10.:21:15.

gone, it less than a second at the end. To come out on that side, we've

:21:16.:21:20.

been on the other side of the world this year and it is still difficult

:21:21.:21:23.

to sink in and believe that we did is. Did you know when you crossed

:21:24.:21:29.

the line that you had one? I had no idea at all. I just, we got through

:21:30.:21:35.

our first turns as planned, everything went as planned we were

:21:36.:21:39.

ahead of schedule but I could sense it from the crowd, we were getting,

:21:40.:21:43.

there's lots of Britain here and we could tell in the semifinal in

:21:44.:21:46.

qualifying when things were going well, info file I had the feeling we

:21:47.:21:50.

were down and a lot of these boys look across the track to check where

:21:51.:21:53.

we are against opposition, but I keep my head down and pedal and it

:21:54.:21:57.

got so scrappy, three of us doing half lap turns and it is only when I

:21:58.:22:03.

looked at the scoreboard, about two laps after I crossed the line and

:22:04.:22:06.

realise we had one. I was more intent on catching my breath and

:22:07.:22:11.

celebrate. For you, our first ever Olympics, you did not intend for it

:22:12.:22:15.

to be that tense, how much does now having the gold medal round your

:22:16.:22:18.

neck and BBA watching it back knowing you've won, how much does it

:22:19.:22:23.

mean? It was surreal, I cannot even remember finishing the race I was in

:22:24.:22:27.

so much pain. I did the change and I remember seeing two and panicking

:22:28.:22:31.

and thinking, God, I cannot let them down. It wasn't until because the

:22:32.:22:37.

line that I realised we had one. It is like a team project you want to

:22:38.:22:42.

be so in control and dialled and that was the complete opposite

:22:43.:22:46.

yesterday. It was scrappy and for it to be the final and for the win is

:22:47.:22:50.

pretty big. Was there any moment of panic when you saw a gap opening

:22:51.:22:53.

with two laps to go and back wheel disappearing? Did you think this

:22:54.:22:57.

could be eight or did you know you could close the gap? I knew I had a

:22:58.:23:03.

little bit left but I hadn't heard one from three so I thought we were

:23:04.:23:06.

still enough for and I was intending on bailing goes I thought I would

:23:07.:23:10.

drop down and I had a quick check and I saw it and thought, now or

:23:11.:23:16.

never. I cannot remember it. I just pulled out and luckily it's paid

:23:17.:23:20.

off. We saw shots of everyone left at the velodrome, last man out was

:23:21.:23:26.

probably Brad. What did you do after that last night? Are we allowed to

:23:27.:23:31.

know? The celebrations went long into the night. It was a fantastic

:23:32.:23:41.

night, I was really proud of the lads. It was brilliant, an epic

:23:42.:23:47.

final. It was ragged at times, especially towards the end. Playing

:23:48.:23:55.

catch up but then we managed. To bring it together for the closing

:23:56.:24:00.

laps and it all came together well. But it was a brutal final. And the

:24:01.:24:07.

weird thing is, now, you will all go your different ways, you will retire

:24:08.:24:14.

in November? Yes. All winners going to Team Sky, Stephen is going on

:24:15.:24:21.

holiday next week. And Ed will probably have a year away from track

:24:22.:24:25.

cycling on the road just because I think he has been fool on since

:24:26.:24:31.

probably the world into thousand seven. I think, the last time we'll

:24:32.:24:38.

probably ride as a quartet and it will be a different line-up in

:24:39.:24:43.

Tokyo. Probably was another two guys, Qian and Mahdi maybe, have

:24:44.:24:50.

switched. They've got to try and win number four because they won it

:24:51.:24:54.

three consecutive now. We have won it. Will you miss him? There is too

:24:55.:25:01.

much of a delay. I will really miss him, he has been great. Brad has a

:25:02.:25:06.

strong legs and helped with the TB should but he has done more than

:25:07.:25:10.

that and since Brad has been part of this team, the last 18 months he's

:25:11.:25:16.

really held it and it has need of a personality like him to inspire not

:25:17.:25:19.

just us but the coaches and staff and management get behind the team

:25:20.:25:24.

pursuit again. Cheers, mate. I'm glad you said it because he once

:25:25.:25:28.

said himself, he is the reluctant hero, thank you for coming out, I

:25:29.:25:32.

hope you find a gold medal again or that will be going for an awful lot

:25:33.:25:36.

on eBay. They will stay and cheer on Becky James and the women's team

:25:37.:25:40.

pursuit who are going for gold to night. Beckett up next and this is

:25:41.:25:42.

how it works in the Keirin. It is the top events to explain to a

:25:43.:25:51.

non-cyclist and in truth it is much easier to understand for those

:25:52.:25:56.

involved in the sport. Contested of eight laps it is effectively a

:25:57.:25:59.

NASCAR Sprint for up to seven riders. The conventions draw lots

:26:00.:26:03.

for their start order to the first 4.5 laps are led by a small

:26:04.:26:08.

motorbike, Dhoni that steadily paces the group up to a maximum of 50

:26:09.:26:13.

kilometre narrow or 45 kilometre is an hour for women. Riders must stay

:26:14.:26:18.

together and are not allowed to pass it until it pulls off the track at

:26:19.:26:23.

which point of the sprint begins. Hitting the front early years you

:26:24.:26:28.

control of the pace but 3.5 laps is very energy expensive. The least

:26:29.:26:32.

taxing position is at the back but few can get around multiple riders

:26:33.:26:37.

in the closing stages. Second is probably the most favoured

:26:38.:26:41.

compromise, but here is a constant danger of being boxed in. If a rider

:26:42.:26:44.

does find themselves trapped there is always the riskiest of all

:26:45.:26:50.

manoeuvres, passing on the inside. A big betting sport in Japan, the

:26:51.:26:55.

Keirin used to be on an aggressive high-speed affair with crash is

:26:56.:26:58.

commonplace but recently the event has been somewhat sanitised, the

:26:59.:27:01.

speed has been regulated, bringing into question the need for PACE

:27:02.:27:05.

motorbike at all and no rider to ride a contact is allowed. We might

:27:06.:27:10.

be mystified by the format but it is still not a event for the

:27:11.:27:12.

faint-hearted and with so many bodies on the track the last few

:27:13.:27:15.

seconds of us Keirin can be spectacular.

:27:16.:27:23.

It is thrilling to watch this race and it can be dangerous, there was a

:27:24.:27:28.

big crash this morning, two heats coming up, effectively semifinals.

:27:29.:27:32.

The top three and it will go to the final. Here is Simon. Away we go

:27:33.:27:37.

with eight laps of the track, the first thing to note, the durney

:27:38.:27:46.

bikes and what they used to be. I don't know why he needs front and

:27:47.:27:49.

back suspension going around the track but there you go. The backpack

:27:50.:27:56.

is not his lunch, it is a very nice camera. Let's run through the

:27:57.:28:08.

line-up, the rider on the wheel of the durney bike. Is Anastasio who

:28:09.:28:19.

won the medal in the team sprint, she is on the front. The rider in

:28:20.:28:27.

the bright orange helmet behind her is Ellis lately from the

:28:28.:28:36.

Netherlands. -- Elis Ligtlee. We were looking at the Columbia rider

:28:37.:28:48.

Martha Bayona Pineda,. Hyejin Lee From careers in this field and so is

:28:49.:28:56.

Tianshi Zhong from China. Let's see if they can repeat the performance.

:28:57.:29:00.

She did get the jump at the right time and so many different agendas

:29:01.:29:04.

out there. It is difficult to know what will happen. Vogel just had a

:29:05.:29:11.

shot, and very a spurious rider. The speed of the bike is regulated quite

:29:12.:29:18.

strictly? Each lap of the race. Yes, as we saw an explanation, 45, two

:29:19.:29:22.

hour for the women is the maximum. They will reach that shortly. It is

:29:23.:29:28.

terminal velocity and then swinging down on the back straight and over

:29:29.:29:29.

to the women. When they come around there will be

:29:30.:29:54.

two laps to complete. Vogel coming around the outside, she's decided it

:29:55.:29:59.

was time to go. No one took it on, which is interesting. Vogel is in

:30:00.:30:05.

control of the race. Still not Full Tilt, she'll accelerate into this.

:30:06.:30:12.

In a great position. Oh, there's a crash, it is Kristina Vogel riding

:30:13.:30:16.

away at the front and the Colombian has gone down, Bayona is on the

:30:17.:30:20.

ground. Vogel, the world champ and, crossing the line ahead of Ligtlee

:30:21.:30:29.

and Voinova, and zonked and she -- zonked Yancey of China -- Zhong in

:30:30.:30:42.

third. I mentioned in the preview that it has...

:30:43.:30:49.

There was a nasty spill. Kristina Vogel, the clear winner. Not quite

:30:50.:31:00.

enough room to race. She was the victim of a tussle going on in front

:31:01.:31:05.

of her, I'm afraid. The Chinese rider just coming down there that

:31:06.:31:14.

caused the problem. Pushing up, Voinova, and just overlapping the

:31:15.:31:19.

wheels. Voinova, and Ligtlee and Bayona are the three who don't go

:31:20.:31:28.

through. I said that the keirin dangerous was -- riding stainless

:31:29.:31:32.

but I wasn't expecting that. If you cause a crash, can you be

:31:33.:31:39.

disqualified? You can be relegated. -- riding was dangerous. It was the

:31:40.:31:45.

Chinese girl pushing down on the Russian who lost control and then

:31:46.:31:48.

came back up and hit the Chinese rider which caused a ripple effect

:31:49.:31:52.

which unfortunately for the Colombian, who was doing nothing

:31:53.:31:58.

wrong. The Colombian was in the wrong place at that time

:31:59.:32:03.

unfortunately. I reckon the Chinese rider may get a warning for that,

:32:04.:32:07.

Inc wrote in on the Russian. And your feet are strapped to the

:32:08.:32:11.

pedals, so you can't click free. Exactly, not very nice. And you can

:32:12.:32:18.

often jolt your hips, you can hurt yourself. Kristina Vogel showing why

:32:19.:32:23.

you want to be at the front in this kind of race, for a number of

:32:24.:32:26.

reasons, not least because of the chaos behind you. The second race is

:32:27.:32:38.

going to figure Becky James and Anna Meares, and this Dutch rider, who

:32:39.:32:41.

had this crash this morning which is awful to watch because she was

:32:42.:32:45.

pushed to the top bank. Similar problem to the previous race. The

:32:46.:32:50.

Dutch girl is encroaching on the French rider, who lost balance.

:32:51.:32:55.

Going all the way to the top. That is a vertical wall, you can't quite

:32:56.:33:03.

see, the Dutch rider is going up a vertical wall, it is like some kind

:33:04.:33:08.

of stunned, she actually held on and stayed upright, which is amazing.

:33:09.:33:11.

Some of the pictures on Twitter are off at the top of the fence, with

:33:12.:33:16.

the bike horizontal. She will be in the line-up. What are you expecting

:33:17.:33:21.

from Becky James? She has to try and take control, get to the front but

:33:22.:33:25.

not as early as the last ride. She took it on, two and a half laps out,

:33:26.:33:32.

which is bold, but difficult. You can stay out of trouble if you are

:33:33.:33:37.

at the front. Here we are in the qualifying round. In front, the

:33:38.:33:43.

shortest route, you can dictate the pace. They started bunching up

:33:44.:33:47.

behind her and she kept enough gas in the tank to hold on to the

:33:48.:33:52.

finish. 24 years old, Becky, the world champion sprinter in keirin in

:33:53.:33:56.

2013 but she has had a run of injuries, coming back in the

:33:57.:34:00.

Championships in March, taking bronze. Would you say that she comes

:34:01.:34:06.

here at the peak of her form? Is she back to her best? Definitely, we

:34:07.:34:12.

don't know her absolute speed but seeing her training times: 10.8,

:34:13.:34:16.

exceptionally quick. She knows she has good form. The confidence of

:34:17.:34:22.

arriving fully prepared as opposed to the World Championships where she

:34:23.:34:26.

wasn't ready and she still won a bronze medal, which boosted her

:34:27.:34:31.

confidence. She knows he has the legs and the head for it, we may see

:34:32.:34:34.

something special if she gets her tactics right. You were a double

:34:35.:34:39.

Olympic champion from raging and London, was the keirin something to

:34:40.:34:43.

be enjoyed or feared as a rider -- Beijing. Nothing like being in the

:34:44.:34:49.

final. In the sprint you have a Silver Medal, at worst, it is

:34:50.:34:55.

predictable, but the keirin is so unpredictable, it is fast. You can

:34:56.:34:59.

see the marks that van Riessen made this morning. She has amazing bike

:35:00.:35:06.

riding skills, to get to the vertical part and back down without

:35:07.:35:10.

crashing, incredible. It is a crowd favourite, the riders love doing it.

:35:11.:35:14.

Before I did it as an event, I loved watching it. Traditionally the last

:35:15.:35:19.

event of the programme and all of the riders used to watch it in the

:35:20.:35:22.

stands and place bets on who was going to win. Anna Meares, who

:35:23.:35:27.

carried the flag for the Australians in the opening ceremonies, the big

:35:28.:35:31.

name in opposition to Becky James, broke her neck in a keirin race in

:35:32.:35:37.

2008. The Australians had their camp at the same track in LA, she has had

:35:38.:35:42.

to prepare on that track. We will see what happens in the second of

:35:43.:35:46.

these races. COMMENTATOR: The riders are just coming up onto the track.

:35:47.:35:51.

Becky James riding extremely well in the early session. She must finish

:35:52.:35:59.

in the first three to make it to the final. She took control, as we've

:36:00.:36:05.

seen, in the replays. Such a small and aerodynamic package, when she

:36:06.:36:11.

crouches low, she can be on the front and take control. Riding

:36:12.:36:15.

perfectly and she'll be looking to repeat that performance. From the

:36:16.:36:25.

Ukraine, Shulika, their national champion. The great Anna Meares,

:36:26.:36:29.

three times a champion, including last year in Paris. The white

:36:30.:36:40.

Lee Wai Sze, from China and then Becky James, bronze in the World

:36:41.:36:51.

Championships. Krupeckaite, in the autumn of her career. This is a

:36:52.:36:56.

field of the highest quality in this half of the draw. There is a lot of

:36:57.:37:05.

race craft that has to be learnt and also the ability to react so fast.

:37:06.:37:09.

You have your own idea of how you are going to run the race but

:37:10.:37:12.

everybody has their own agenda and you must adapt. Eight laps of the

:37:13.:37:22.

track starting now. Lee Wai Sze from Hong Kong getting straight onto the

:37:23.:37:27.

back wheel of the derny bike. National hero back at home, winning

:37:28.:37:31.

Hong Kong's first ever Olympic cycling medal four years ago. And a

:37:32.:37:36.

world champion as well the couple of years ago in the 500 metres time

:37:37.:37:42.

trial. This is Krupeckaite, Chris was talking about tactical ability

:37:43.:37:43.

in a race like this and Krupeckaite in a race like this and Krupeckaite

:37:44.:37:47.

certainly has plenty of that, she's been racing at the top level for a

:37:48.:37:52.

long time. Just to reiterate, they can't pass the derny, they can't

:37:53.:37:56.

even overlap the back wheel and if they do, the rider will be relegated

:37:57.:38:01.

and the race will be restarted until it pulls off the track. Not only

:38:02.:38:05.

that, they must stay with it as well. Staying with the Pace

:38:06.:38:10.

motorbike is defined by ten metres. As you get towards the modem and

:38:11.:38:14.

where it pulls off, large gaps form and that is the riders giving

:38:15.:38:19.

themselves room to accelerate. They anticipate the bike pulling off and

:38:20.:38:22.

they give themselves some room to work. Just to note, as we see Lee

:38:23.:38:28.

Wai Sze from Hong Kong right behind, the rider at the back in the orange,

:38:29.:38:33.

van Riessen from the Netherlands was the rider who has shown she can ride

:38:34.:38:36.

up a vertical wall today, avoiding that crash. She hasn't been a track

:38:37.:38:42.

rider for very long, only the last year or so, she was eight speed

:38:43.:38:49.

skater from the Vancouver Games in 2010. You would never know, she kept

:38:50.:38:56.

riding, she had about two centimetres before she would have

:38:57.:38:59.

gone over the fence, it was a remarkable piece of bike craft and

:39:00.:39:02.

that's going to be one of the pictures of the Games going forward.

:39:03.:39:08.

Exciting stuff. Two about half laps to go, the bike will disappear and

:39:09.:39:12.

the race will be on. The tension will be riding among the six riders.

:39:13.:39:16.

That's why you can see the gaps starting to appear, half a lap

:39:17.:39:20.

before it moves out of the way and the racing will start. Becky James

:39:21.:39:25.

is in fourth place. A little bit far back, she would like to move up but

:39:26.:39:27.

careful not to be boxed in. Fright at the back, Becky James from

:39:28.:39:42.

Great Britain in the dark outfit, going around the outside. She

:39:43.:39:46.

decides she isn't going to hang around, she wants to grab this by

:39:47.:39:50.

the scruff of the neck. Lee Wai Sze of Hong Kong has gone down on the

:39:51.:39:55.

inside. Becky James leading the way, Anna Meares looks comfortable in

:39:56.:40:02.

second. In fourth place, Krupeckaite, battling for a place in

:40:03.:40:05.

the final. Still Becky James leading them to pause the line. Becky James,

:40:06.:40:14.

Anna Meares and Shulika of the Ukraine. Becky James made an

:40:15.:40:17.

excellent move in getting towards the front of the race when she did

:40:18.:40:21.

and avoiding any of the problems, as Lee Wai Sze crashed on the inside of

:40:22.:40:25.

the track and is still down on the ground. It has been given to Anna

:40:26.:40:30.

Meares but Becky James eased on the line, Sheila Cross to see.

:40:31.:40:35.

Beautifully timed committee accelerated over the top just as the

:40:36.:40:41.

crash happened. It was perfectly timed. See accelerated in the bend

:40:42.:40:44.

so that she would already be coming at them when she got to the straight

:40:45.:40:48.

and that is when you can move forward. It was a subtle but very

:40:49.:40:52.

important time to start that acceleration, real confidence. Great

:40:53.:40:58.

ride in the semifinal from Becky James. She is in the shake-up for

:40:59.:41:03.

the medals. Anna Meares from Australia is hoping for one last

:41:04.:41:07.

Olympic Farah as well in what would be, for her, a third Olympic title

:41:08.:41:13.

having won a Gold Medal in 2004 and four years ago in London -- hurrah.

:41:14.:41:21.

Lee Wai Sze from Hong Kong, thankfully OK although clearly less

:41:22.:41:25.

than amused by the outcome. All part of it. STUDIO: Safely through to the

:41:26.:41:37.

final, Becky James, coming up later tonight. It is going to be 9:27pm,

:41:38.:41:43.

the team pursuit will be 853, your time. Don't miss them. You are

:41:44.:41:48.

saying it was the perfect race until you saw package aims sitting up on

:41:49.:41:54.

the line. -- you saw Becky James. She only had to be in the top three,

:41:55.:42:01.

she could give up a bit but you never look round on the finishing

:42:02.:42:06.

line and Anna Meares just rolled her. It doesn't make any difference,

:42:07.:42:10.

there is no seeding, nothing wrong with that but for all she knew,

:42:11.:42:14.

there could have been a couple of riders on the outside and she could

:42:15.:42:17.

have been overtaken and could have been out of the final. Very minor

:42:18.:42:24.

complaint. Fantastic ride. She lined it up perfectly with two laps to go,

:42:25.:42:28.

starting her effort, coming over the outside. She could have hesitated

:42:29.:42:32.

when Anna Meares reacted with a lap of a half to go and she could have

:42:33.:42:35.

been stuck on the long Way round which would have been disastrous but

:42:36.:42:38.

she committed, taking the race to the front. She line it up, makes

:42:39.:42:43.

space for herself, she starts going here. Accelerating, catching them by

:42:44.:42:49.

surprise, Anna Meares Caesar but Becky has the commitment -- sees

:42:50.:42:55.

her. It is a shame that Lee Wai Sze was knocked down, she had a good

:42:56.:42:59.

chance. Becky is in control. Anna Meares creating a bit of a gap for

:43:00.:43:03.

safety so she can run onto the wheel of Becky and get into the

:43:04.:43:09.

slipstream. That was as close to perfection for Becky as you can

:43:10.:43:12.

expect. Apart from looking round at the finishing line! That would be

:43:13.:43:17.

your feedback, do the same but don't look around. I don't think she will

:43:18.:43:21.

do it in the final, when there is a medal at stake you just look at the

:43:22.:43:25.

ground and you throw the bike. Tremendous race to watch. Started in

:43:26.:43:32.

Japan I think for betting purposes initially and it became a big deal.

:43:33.:43:36.

Jason Kenny is the defending Olympic champion in the men's sprint and if

:43:37.:43:40.

he wins this second of the best of three races he will be through to

:43:41.:43:46.

the semifinals later tonight, against Patrick Constable 2-1 the

:43:47.:43:50.

first part of this pretty easily. Simon and Chris, will you expect him

:43:51.:43:54.

to do it in two? Hard to know what Constable can do,

:43:55.:44:00.

he is a canny rider, showing some good track craft but I don't think

:44:01.:44:04.

he has the measure of Kenny and I was surprised he was suckered in by

:44:05.:44:09.

him in the previous ride. Kenny kept control from start to finish,

:44:10.:44:14.

looking so confident, more so than I have seen before. Here we go, the

:44:15.:44:19.

second race, potentially of three. Jason Kenny of Heath -- if he wins

:44:20.:44:24.

this one he go through to the semifinal. The defending champion,

:44:25.:44:30.

semifinal, the Olympic sprint title, one of four Gold Medal C has won in

:44:31.:44:35.

his career. Kenny certainly looked very impressive in that first right.

:44:36.:44:44.

-- medals he has won. Patrick Constable, who was part of

:44:45.:44:50.

Australia's team pursuit squad here. Finishing in fourth place. Former

:44:51.:44:59.

world junior champion. Nice shot with the reflection in the glasses.

:45:00.:45:04.

I think Constable's only chance here is to try and control this one, try

:45:05.:45:11.

and stop Jason Kenny from dictating how the race runs out. He has the

:45:12.:45:17.

engine. Constable must stop him from using it. Kenny has got the

:45:18.:45:23.

predatory as well, he was in the Olympic final in Beijing in 2008.

:45:24.:45:26.

Losing to Chris Hoy. Slowly stalking the Australian, his

:45:27.:45:41.

body language and face, picture of concentration, a study in

:45:42.:45:44.

concentration. We saw this earlier, the riders going up the track, they

:45:45.:45:48.

are tempting the opposition to come underneath so they can come down and

:45:49.:45:52.

shut the door and forced them to store and then start accelerating.

:45:53.:45:57.

Did not work earlier, he did not close the door fast enough and

:45:58.:46:02.

Dimitri of took the initiative. A quick look to this matchup between

:46:03.:46:05.

the pair, Constable clearly starting to wind it up a little. Kenny is

:46:06.:46:12.

being drawn in, that is the difference, left himself plenty of

:46:13.:46:15.

room to work and get the height to accelerate with one lap to go, going

:46:16.:46:19.

into loss to understand the back straight, look at the blistering

:46:20.:46:24.

speed of Jason Kenny as he races past the Australian, passed his

:46:25.:46:27.

shoulder and into the finishing straight, majestic sprinting. Jason

:46:28.:46:34.

Kenny, the world champion and at the moment looks unbeatable, he

:46:35.:46:37.

certainly did in that ride against Constable but he will face tougher

:46:38.:46:43.

competition. That was frightening, he sat up with a quarter of a lap to

:46:44.:46:49.

go, he knew his sheer momentum was going to carry him over the line

:46:50.:46:53.

first and barely opened his mouth, look at the expression on his face,

:46:54.:46:56.

there is a moment of acceleration, gets himself into control and coming

:46:57.:47:01.

around here, have already decided started ease off, thinking about

:47:02.:47:09.

what I will have for dinner. 2-0, Jason Kenny again having got the

:47:10.:47:14.

better half of the draw or got himself a very good draw by being

:47:15.:47:20.

the fastest qualifier has also avoided any ripper charges and

:47:21.:47:23.

avoided a third right here. The dividends, that fast qualification.

:47:24.:47:28.

And the next heat will feature the other British rider, Calum Skinner,

:47:29.:47:41.

23-year-old from Scotland. Skinner won the first ride against Sujad

:47:42.:47:49.

from China and again, heat two, won the first race convincingly. This

:47:50.:47:52.

Skinner wins this one he would also be there to the last four.

:47:53.:48:01.

Remarkable how quick it happens. He is riding the crest of the wave, man

:48:02.:48:06.

of the match in the team's print and sprinting better than he ever has in

:48:07.:48:10.

his life. All five fifths in the World Championship was not able to

:48:11.:48:15.

deliver. He is here. He had to bow out in the last eight but has the

:48:16.:48:19.

opportunity to go better here and make it into the semifinals and

:48:20.:48:24.

Calum Skinner, first came to prominence domestically with a clean

:48:25.:48:27.

sweep at international titles back in 2014 in the autumn. It is written

:48:28.:48:35.

in the Commonwealth Games twice in 2010 and 14. But this is on another

:48:36.:48:42.

scale altogether in Rio. One of the big changes with the British team is

:48:43.:48:47.

the German sprint coach came across and still just out of his own career

:48:48.:48:51.

and world champion himself, used to go on the track, not sure if he

:48:52.:48:55.

still does go through scenarios, role-playing with the riders, some

:48:56.:49:00.

superb technical coaching, tactical coaching and it has made a big

:49:01.:49:05.

difference to the team. Keeping control, you can see, although he is

:49:06.:49:09.

seated, he is raising the pace and the form he has got, he can stay

:49:10.:49:14.

seated and accelerate so hard. He has some distance. He has a lot of

:49:15.:49:20.

what to do, the Chinese rider and I'm not sure he will come close to

:49:21.:49:23.

challenging Skinner. Skinner with plenty of daylight and the rider

:49:24.:49:27.

from China pushing hard, trying to get back on terms but Calum Skinner

:49:28.:49:33.

just riding away through, in straight rides into the semifinals,

:49:34.:49:37.

both Jason Kenny and Calum Skinner through. That was Yann Demange and

:49:38.:49:42.

you sort shaking the hands of the Chinese coach. Unfortunately has not

:49:43.:49:47.

shaved his moustache like the rest of the team prior to the competition

:49:48.:49:51.

but he must be pleased with how his charges are doing, look at the

:49:52.:49:55.

power, so in control in that race. He saw an opportunity and went

:49:56.:50:00.

early, but you got to give yourself some room to manoeuvre. You can only

:50:01.:50:04.

way to much, I will not let you get a look in. Van -- the coach will be

:50:05.:50:17.

pleased with what he's seen so far. Great Britain are guaranteed to get

:50:18.:50:20.

something from the men's sprint, whatever happens. The next ride will

:50:21.:50:26.

be on the track in a moment or two and it will be much place are from

:50:27.:50:32.

Australia against the occupiers from Germany. Glaetzer was the winner of

:50:33.:50:43.

the first race and if he wins he will join the Brits in the final.

:50:44.:50:48.

We'll bring you up-to-date on the month, reflecting on Calum Skinner

:50:49.:50:51.

and Jason Kenny, they won their quarterfinals in different but both

:50:52.:50:57.

convincing. Two into the last four sort we are guaranteed a medal of

:50:58.:51:00.

some colour in tomorrow's race but that was perfect from both. He just

:51:01.:51:05.

ran out his opponent with plenty of speed. Like he had an extra gear, he

:51:06.:51:10.

cruised around outside untroubled and Billy Brooke Sweat. Calendar and

:51:11.:51:14.

when from the front, opened a gap and poured it on, it was perfection.

:51:15.:51:19.

If they keep winning and winner semifinals later then they will meet

:51:20.:51:23.

tomorrow night in the gold medal race, which would be tremendously

:51:24.:51:26.

exciting full Andy Murray is already through to a gold medal match to

:51:27.:51:30.

defend his men's singles title but the big question is who will he

:51:31.:51:33.

meet? Myanmar teamed Del Pontal Viking tea and Rafa Nadal of Spain

:51:34.:51:38.

locked into a third set decider. These are the scenes live at the

:51:39.:51:43.

main court and we will join it because double trouble is serving

:51:44.:51:48.

for the match and a place in the cold medal final. -- Del Potro.

:51:49.:51:58.

One game away from the Olympic final.

:51:59.:52:41.

A great start for Nadal. An enormous serve from Del Potro, somehow he got

:52:42.:52:51.

it back. He did claw his way into the rally. The quickest serve of the

:52:52.:52:55.

day. 214 kilometres per hour. He has been slightly less secure on

:52:56.:53:48.

the forehand in the third set. You could put your mortgage on it making

:53:49.:53:49.

that one. He dealt with the net really well

:53:50.:54:06.

and then a lovely volley. Not just in Spain, he's not two the

:54:07.:54:27.

most popular man in Brazil right now. -- he is the most. Three break

:54:28.:54:34.

back points. Electric speed. The adrenaline

:54:35.:55:08.

pumping so hard in Del Potro with the powder and Nadal with the speed.

:55:09.:55:16.

How quick was he on to that? Great anticipation, it still needed some

:55:17.:55:20.

quite frightening speed to get to it. He has broken back.

:55:21.:55:28.

Good old Nadal, he is never beaten them what a celebration when he gave

:55:29.:55:36.

himself 0-40, has broken back against Del Gotrel 5-5, that

:55:37.:55:40.

continues live on BBC Four, who will bring you the best on BBC One, in

:55:41.:55:45.

Badminton we heard earlier Gary and Chris Adcock have gone out of the

:55:46.:55:48.

Mixed Doubles but there is good news for Britain does not appear in the

:55:49.:55:52.

Men's Doubles. Chris Langridge and Martin Southers won today to reach

:55:53.:55:55.

the quarterfinals, great result for them, ranked 22 in the world, and

:55:56.:56:00.

they are through to the quarterfinals. Fabulous. Chris has

:56:01.:56:06.

had his vision sprint through watching the track and tennis, you

:56:07.:56:12.

like Rafa coming back. Yes. Don't give it away. We saw Jason Kenny and

:56:13.:56:19.

Calum Skinner win their second races earlier, so they are through. They

:56:20.:56:22.

don't need a decider but let's look at the third of the quarterfinals.

:56:23.:56:28.

Mathieu Glaetzer gives jockey milers. --

:56:29.:56:40.

quarterfinal between Glaetzer Joachim Eilers and. Has Del Potro --

:56:41.:57:05.

Joachim Eilers got the legs to do it? Later has been fiery -- Mathieu

:57:06.:57:12.

Glaetzer has been Bayrou. Look at the height he had left himself. I

:57:13.:57:15.

think Joachim Eilers has made a mistake. Mathieu Glaetzer got an

:57:16.:57:20.

enormous speed boost but he was stalled again, and Mathieu Glaetzer

:57:21.:57:24.

with work to do down the back straight, looks more than willing to

:57:25.:57:28.

do that and draw level with Joachim Eilers and Joachim Eilers will be

:57:29.:57:31.

beaten for pace and for speed on the line. Perfectly timed in the end

:57:32.:57:34.

from Mathieu Glaetzer. They certainly did not hang about and

:57:35.:57:40.

Mathieu Glaetzer is through industry rights as well. Mathieu Glaetzer of

:57:41.:57:45.

Australia will now meet Calum Skinner. I think he's not impressed

:57:46.:57:53.

massively year, a time trial was excellent but he's not raised with

:57:54.:57:56.

the same conviction be seen in previous championships. That was a

:57:57.:57:59.

10-4 and he was working hard to get around either at 10.4 pace, not

:58:00.:58:05.

exceptionally quick the last 200, Jason and Calum are doing 10.1,

:58:06.:58:10.

10.2, I fancy Calum. He has got a really good chance if he can get his

:58:11.:58:14.

head straight and focus on him and not be all right by the occasion but

:58:15.:58:17.

he has shown no signs of that so far. He's been perfect. I would put

:58:18.:58:21.

money on Calum. Arguably Jason Kenny has the more difficult job because

:58:22.:58:27.

he will meet Dennis Dimitris or Gregory Bourget and the first race

:58:28.:58:32.

of their three was won by Dimitri of -- Dmitriev. Here's the second.

:58:33.:58:46.

Bauge with a last opportunity to say that McStay and accommodation.

:58:47.:58:49.

Having a disappointing game so far, I wonder how his morale is. Probably

:58:50.:58:54.

not great. Some discord in the French team, did not get the teams

:58:55.:58:58.

went medal that they were hoping for. In this competition, they are

:58:59.:59:03.

not faring much better. Difficult times for them.

:59:04.:59:09.

Halfway down the back straight. The crowd will just feel they move as

:59:10.:59:20.

the riders go past, they are so close to them. Interesting that

:59:21.:59:25.

Dmitriev is going for the standstill or look like he was about to come I

:59:26.:59:30.

thought it would be Bauge trying to keep its tactical. The are allowed

:59:31.:59:34.

to come. But only for a maximum of 30 seconds and if it gets to 30

:59:35.:59:39.

seconds, then judge walking the side of the track will indicate the lead

:59:40.:59:43.

rider to move off and if they don't they are relegated. They must have

:59:44.:59:47.

that will because potentially they could stand there for ten minutes.

:59:48.:59:51.

I've seen that many years ago. It was amusing for a while but after

:59:52.:59:57.

the first hour... Please everyone drumming their fingers and waiting

:59:58.:00:01.

for the race to continue. Hotting up now.

:00:02.:00:07.

Dmitriev of Russia on the fund, a repeat of the World Championship

:00:08.:00:13.

final year ago. Bauge has got to pull this out of the bag. Shoulder

:00:14.:00:17.

to shoulder, it is a real battle between two heavyweights of

:00:18.:00:21.

sprinting. Dmitriev I think has too much in the locker add Bauge doesn't

:00:22.:00:29.

have the speed -- and. There was a bit of bumping and barging. Dmitriev

:00:30.:00:33.

came outside the sprinter's line after the Sprint had launched. The

:00:34.:00:38.

judges may have something to say about that, we'll have to see. In

:00:39.:00:43.

the end, the protest wasn't made, was it? I don't think so, the result

:00:44.:00:51.

stands. When Bauge made his move, catching Dmitriev unawares and he

:00:52.:00:54.

was accelerating hard, he had the momentum. You can't really see,

:00:55.:01:01.

Dmitriev sticks his elbow into Bauge and comes out of the red, which you

:01:02.:01:06.

can't do, killing the run that Bauge had when he was passing him. It was

:01:07.:01:10.

the French team I would putting in a protest. I don't think it's going to

:01:11.:01:17.

change the standings. London 2012, Vicky Pendleton came out of the lane

:01:18.:01:23.

by a head spread and she was relegated. -- by a hair's bread.

:01:24.:01:27.

You're telling me he's broken the rules but hasn't been relegated. It

:01:28.:01:32.

is down to the interpretation by the judges. They decide whether the move

:01:33.:01:37.

in and he did the progress of the other rider. To me, that clearly

:01:38.:01:42.

happened. We will have to look at the other angle but it may be that

:01:43.:01:46.

Bauge encroached on Dmitriev, pushing him down the track. Who

:01:47.:01:51.

knows? As far as we are in a where, the result stands. Callum Skinner

:01:52.:01:59.

against Matthew Glaetzer. Semifinals later and also coming up, the

:02:00.:02:02.

women's team pursuit Gold Medal race but there is a lot of racing to

:02:03.:02:06.

happen before that. So we are going to take you to the tennis where Del

:02:07.:02:11.

Potro has already served once for the right to get into the goal medal

:02:12.:02:17.

match. Rafa broke back to be 5-5 and now he is serving to establish again

:02:18.:02:22.

his lead in the final set. They will play a tie-break. It is not a long

:02:23.:02:28.

third set. Let's see if Rafa can hold serve. He was dancing with

:02:29.:02:32.

delight when he gave himself the chance to break back. He has won the

:02:33.:02:37.

Gold Medal in the doubles, the singles champion from Beijing. Del

:02:38.:02:48.

Potro knocked out Djokovic. One of the great hits of this game is so

:02:49.:02:56.

far has been trampolining. Huge surprise yesterday when Bryony Page

:02:57.:02:59.

got herself into the final, not only into the final but her routine was

:03:00.:03:03.

good enough to earn her the Silver Medal. You must have incredible

:03:04.:03:10.

aerial awareness here, they get ten bounces, you must pull of the most

:03:11.:03:14.

difficult moves you can within those ten routines. The rebound on the

:03:15.:03:19.

trampoline can be vicious if you get your timing wrong. You must land on

:03:20.:03:24.

the square if possible, on the cross and not outside the square. Bryony

:03:25.:03:28.

Page, that was good enough to give her the Silver Medal. There's no

:03:29.:03:33.

doubt that her success inspired many people at home to be trying out

:03:34.:03:37.

these moves. This is Kayleigh Thompson. This is nine-year-old

:03:38.:03:46.

Shannon. Very good! This is Keira, who is six years old. And Anna on

:03:47.:03:54.

Twitter has sent in Ruby and Stanley Walsh from Cheshire, loving the

:03:55.:03:57.

trampolining and the British medal, inspiring the new generation. This

:03:58.:04:03.

is Britain's Nathan Bailey who has come back from horrendous injury,

:04:04.:04:07.

broke both arms, shattering his elbow. He finished in ninth place,

:04:08.:04:14.

he didn't quite make the final. But look at the moves like this. I told

:04:15.:04:19.

you about his injuries as well, so there is a downside, but when you

:04:20.:04:22.

get it right, it's sensational to watch. It may well have inspired you

:04:23.:04:27.

to take up trampolining and if so, follow this. Get Inspired is BBC

:04:56.:05:00.

to you. I just realise I gave you more than

:05:01.:05:13.

one child when you only have one so far! Old enough to trampoline? Not

:05:14.:05:18.

quite but I reckon I can get him bouncing up and down on one. The

:05:19.:05:23.

chances are that he may be an Olympian and he might be here in

:05:24.:05:27.

years to come. Let's bring you up-to-date on the headlines so far.

:05:28.:05:35.

Great Britain ending the Olympic rowing regatta in style with the

:05:36.:05:38.

men's eight, leading from start to finish to win gold, their first

:05:39.:05:47.

since the Sydney Olympics in 2000. And there was a first ever Olympic

:05:48.:05:52.

medal for the GB women's eight, finishing behind the USA who won

:05:53.:05:57.

gold at the 3rd Games in a row, but a terrific effort from the British

:05:58.:06:00.

women to hold off the opposition for silver. Andy Murray has booked his

:06:01.:06:10.

place in tomorrow's Men's Singles final after he beat Kei Nishikori

:06:11.:06:16.

and he will play either Del Potro or Nadal who are locked in a third set

:06:17.:06:23.

decider. Great Britain's Justin Rose leading the Gulf after round three,

:06:24.:06:29.

he is on 12-under par, leading by one shot from the Open champion

:06:30.:06:38.

Henrik Stenson. Rose shot 65 today, three eagles and two birdies. Final

:06:39.:06:46.

round tomorrow. And we are in for a thrilling conclusion to the

:06:47.:06:50.

heptathlon, Belgium's Nafi Thiam has edged Jess Ennis-Hill to the top of

:06:51.:06:55.

the standings after the long jump. Katarina Johnson-Thompson is in

:06:56.:06:59.

third with two event slated to go, the javelin and the 800 metres --

:07:00.:07:07.

two events to go. So, in terms of events here at the velodrome, this

:07:08.:07:18.

is the timetable. The women of Great Britain broke the world record to

:07:19.:07:26.

get into the final race. Becky James in the final of the keirin. It may

:07:27.:07:29.

be earlier than 9:30pm. If Jason Kenny and Callum Skinner

:07:30.:07:42.

wind there is, they'll be in the gold-medal race tomorrow. I would be

:07:43.:07:52.

advising you to drink coffee and stay up late. When I meet somebody

:07:53.:07:56.

many people tell me where they were on Super Saturday. People want to

:07:57.:08:00.

remember and be a part of that night. That gold-medal changed

:08:01.:08:03.

everything. That is to come, later tonight and

:08:04.:08:15.

we've got some sensational racing to come at the velodrome but we are

:08:16.:08:19.

going back to the tennis to see if Nadal or Del Potro can win this

:08:20.:08:24.

match. We are into the deciding third set tie-break and already Del

:08:25.:08:27.

Potro has a mini-break so the Argentinian is just edging ahead of

:08:28.:08:32.

Nadal, but you know what Rafa is like, he will be bouncing around

:08:33.:08:37.

trying to get back into it. Simon Reed is our commentator.

:08:38.:08:59.

COMMENTATOR: Kickstarter Del Potro -- kick-start for Del Potro.

:09:00.:09:32.

Mr Del Potro is challenging the call on the right-hand side, the ball was

:09:33.:09:40.

called out. He has got four challenges remaining, so he might as

:09:41.:09:41.

well use of them. It is still out. It was in the slot. A surprise to

:09:42.:10:06.

most that Rafa missed it. Three successive points, for Del Potro.

:10:07.:10:16.

It seems he has recovered well from dropping serve when he was serving

:10:17.:10:21.

for the match. Super forehand into the corner from

:10:22.:10:55.

the Nadal. -- from the wow, I'm not sure he meant it to be

:10:56.:11:39.

quite as good a shot as that. But what a bonus it was. Incredible

:11:40.:11:53.

angle. Still, it is Del Potro with the mini-break.

:11:54.:13:07.

That match continues on BBC Four. Here, the bronze medal race is under

:13:08.:13:15.

way in the women's team pursuit, and Canada are in control. COMMENTATOR:

:13:16.:13:20.

Canada can sense they are going to win bronze for the second Olympic

:13:21.:13:23.

Games in a row in the women's team pursuit. They can see their

:13:24.:13:28.

opponents as they come into the straight, disappearing to the

:13:29.:13:33.

opposite bend. It is added incentive, a lap and a half to go

:13:34.:13:38.

for Canada. Heading for the bronze medal, and the final is coming up in

:13:39.:13:45.

a few moments. Driving up the front, just and laser with Beveridge and

:13:46.:13:57.

Simmerling -- Glaesser. They will take the bronze medal with room to

:13:58.:14:02.

spare. New Zealand crossing the line. Canada dominant and winners of

:14:03.:14:11.

bronze. They can be pleased, they qualified in fourth place so they've

:14:12.:14:15.

moved forward from there, which is always good. They used their

:14:16.:14:21.

different abilities well. We saw Lay bailing out because she didn't want

:14:22.:14:28.

to slow the team down, so great team work. It is not just the ability of

:14:29.:14:37.

an individual. Tense moments, isn't it, on the start line. It's all

:14:38.:14:41.

ahead of you but they dealt with the pressure well. And as we look at the

:14:42.:14:49.

highlights of the bronze medal race, we will make preparations for the

:14:50.:14:56.

final itself. It will be up shortly, Great Britain against the United

:14:57.:15:02.

States and what a race it promises to be. So close, the two teams,

:15:03.:15:05.

earlier today. STUDIO: And now for gold, it is

:15:06.:15:17.

Great Britain against the USA. Great Britain set a world record in

:15:18.:15:21.

qualifying, the Americans set one this morning and then Great Britain

:15:22.:15:25.

set a new world record. Teams of four now, it was three in London, it

:15:26.:15:31.

was three kilometres in London and it is four now. We have two who have

:15:32.:15:39.

been in this position and two who haven't, Archibald and Barker. Laura

:15:40.:15:43.

Trott could become the first British woman to win three Olympic gold

:15:44.:15:48.

medals. This is history in the making. Chris, what would you

:15:49.:15:52.

anticipate will happen? As close as the men's race yesterday? I think it

:15:53.:15:57.

will be closer, it could be fractions of a second. One tenth of

:15:58.:16:01.

a second between them when they won the world record. 4.11, may be

:16:02.:16:07.

quicker, it may be one bike length in between them. The Americans have

:16:08.:16:13.

the horsepower, the Brits have the technique. It is too close to call

:16:14.:16:16.

but you've got to back the Brits here. Fantastic if Laura can win a

:16:17.:16:21.

third Gold Medal. Another night of history potentially. Tell me about

:16:22.:16:25.

the four of them and what they contribute in their technique and

:16:26.:16:31.

power and mental approach. Katie Archibald first of all.

:16:32.:16:36.

Katie is new to the team, world record holder and European champion,

:16:37.:16:41.

she's done everything coming her way so far. She started racing in

:16:42.:16:46.

Scotland as part of my old club, city of Edinburgh. She has joined

:16:47.:16:49.

the team without any problems at all. Quite all right, Laura Trott

:16:50.:16:54.

next to the smallest, she has the most experience, amazing technique

:16:55.:17:00.

and power. Elinor Barker, again, new to the team but has fitted in well

:17:01.:17:04.

and has had to work very hard to battle into the team. Joel Rose

:17:05.:17:11.

Ocean, already an Olympic champion, the art better drilled team are more

:17:12.:17:17.

efficient but the Americans have huge worst horror, particularly from

:17:18.:17:23.

Sarah Hammer. She is their staff. Yes, she is an individual world

:17:24.:17:27.

champion on many occasions. Silver medallist at the Olympics behind

:17:28.:17:33.

Laura Trott and she will be a big challenge for Lauren Nia Ali this

:17:34.:17:38.

time but this is purely about team pursuit and the Americans started

:17:39.:17:42.

quickly in the second ride, they opened up a gap of about one second

:17:43.:17:46.

over the British time, so we could see the Americans attacking hard at

:17:47.:17:49.

the beginning and putting the Brits under pressure. This will take about

:17:50.:17:55.

four minutes and 12 seconds, a gold-medal is at stake. Great

:17:56.:17:58.

Britain against the USA, Chris Boardman and Simon Brotherton. USA

:17:59.:18:04.

line-up, Sarah Hammer, is time world champion Kelly Kaplan, Chloe Dygert

:18:05.:18:10.

and Jennifer Valente a, these four riders won the World Championship

:18:11.:18:14.

demand on. Katy Archibald for Great Britain, Elinor Barker, Laura Trott

:18:15.:18:19.

going for what would be a historic third gold medal today. And Joanna

:18:20.:18:28.

Rowsell Shand who will be the leader of rider. She is currently in the

:18:29.:18:33.

starters gate. Very experienced, Russell Shand and Trott won this

:18:34.:18:38.

title four years ago. To retain it made me to be the world champions

:18:39.:18:41.

there was nothing between them when they raced earlier today,

:18:42.:18:45.

back-to-back world records. A tent of a second did it come I don't

:18:46.:18:49.

think we will see Joe Rosol Shan got all the way, she bailed in the last

:18:50.:18:53.

ride and give it all up, we see Archibald storming on the back. The

:18:54.:19:00.

world champions, the USA against Great Britain, four-time world

:19:01.:19:04.

champions, what an Olympic final we have on our hands. Just like last

:19:05.:19:10.

night, this one could go to the wire. It could be a white knuckle

:19:11.:19:14.

ride. One tenth of a second in the previous ride between them,

:19:15.:19:18.

different strategies were employed, serve ayes Sarah Hammer did single

:19:19.:19:22.

lapse exchanges to two that could be a problem for the British riders

:19:23.:19:27.

Archibald did an enormous 2.5 lap turn in the previous ride we inspect

:19:28.:19:30.

the British team to be behind at this point, they were nearly one

:19:31.:19:34.

second down the first kilometre when they beat them before the muscle the

:19:35.:19:38.

fact there was a small deficit just now is no great worry to them. Laura

:19:39.:19:43.

Trott on the front for Great Britain, she peels off and Elinor

:19:44.:19:46.

Barker takes over, let's look at the Gap, 750 metres and the driving

:19:47.:19:52.

force really for the USA has been Sarah Hammer, Jennifer Valente here

:19:53.:19:55.

as well as newly developed in the last couple of years. A former

:19:56.:19:59.

sprinter returning to the endurance squad, they are an extremely well

:20:00.:20:03.

drilled outfit and the one kilometre mark is very close and advantage

:20:04.:20:08.

slightly to the USA. The Brits have gone one second faster than in the

:20:09.:20:13.

previous world record ride, so much better start, they are instantly on

:20:14.:20:17.

terms, not lagging behind the Americans, this is the point where

:20:18.:20:20.

we would expect them to start making a bit of an inroad. You mentioned

:20:21.:20:27.

Katy Archibald, Chris, Katy Archibald on the front for Great

:20:28.:20:31.

Britain just now she is such a powerful rider, driving away around

:20:32.:20:35.

the bottom of the track and Joanna Rowsell Shand just takes over. Down

:20:36.:20:39.

the back straight go Great Britain with Laura Trott in second place in

:20:40.:20:43.

the line. They are in France now, they have their noses in front of

:20:44.:20:51.

the Americans. Now it is up to four tenths of a second and Great Britain

:20:52.:20:54.

are starting to turn the screw, the pressure with Laura Trott leading

:20:55.:20:58.

the way is being put on the American team in this final. We will see a

:20:59.:21:01.

long time, we sought her lap turn from Trott in the previous ride. We

:21:02.:21:07.

need these big dynamics, it's what she was done. Nine tenths of a

:21:08.:21:10.

second, bang on halfway, the last time they went over the line. Great

:21:11.:21:15.

Britain leading in the race for gold in the women's team pursuit. John

:21:16.:21:20.

Rosol got slightly shallow turn in the previous ride, I think we might

:21:21.:21:26.

see her bail early on, it is long -- some long turns out by the British

:21:27.:21:29.

team. The Americans chipped one tenth of the lead of the Britons,

:21:30.:21:33.

let's look now and see very are. The gap has gone up again to just over

:21:34.:21:38.

eight tenths come nearly nine tenths of a second. Big gaps forming at the

:21:39.:21:43.

American team. There is a little bit more ragged than we've seen before,

:21:44.:21:49.

a strong woman in there is dey got. Five laps to go and six tenths of a

:21:50.:21:54.

second, we knew it would be close and the likelihood is it probably

:21:55.:21:57.

still will be but the USA have gone down to three and dropping off the

:21:58.:22:01.

back for the USA, one of their riders is gone. Kelly Catherine.

:22:02.:22:06.

Four laps to go, Great Britain lead by 1.4 seconds. And there is -- they

:22:07.:22:12.

are still altogether, team effort, I don't think they will finish with

:22:13.:22:16.

four, they will try and get it all out for the American team in all

:22:17.:22:18.

sorts of difficulty, they lost the wrong person when they went down to

:22:19.:22:24.

three. I cannot see the British team coming Ning away from having a gold

:22:25.:22:28.

medal here. Joanna Rowsell Shand just dropped off for Great Britain,

:22:29.:22:31.

they are down to three but they are leading the way with two laps to go.

:22:32.:22:36.

Great Britain heading for the gold medal at the moment, two .7 seconds

:22:37.:22:42.

-- 2.7 seconds is the advantage with Laura Trott still on the track,

:22:43.:22:46.

Elinor Barker and Katy Archibald. Surely this will be a new world

:22:47.:22:49.

record as they take the Bell, they put everything into this, they can

:22:50.:22:53.

see their opponents. The final lap of the Olympic final and it will be

:22:54.:22:59.

a right to glory for Great Britain. One final bed and into the finishing

:23:00.:23:04.

straight. And up towards the line, called for Great Britain! They've

:23:05.:23:10.

smashed the world record. Four minutes to -- 4:10.236, out of this

:23:11.:23:16.

world and a historic moment for British sport. Laura Trott, the

:23:17.:23:20.

first British woman ever to win three Olympic gold medals that she

:23:21.:23:25.

wouldn't have done it without Joanna Rowsell Shand, Elinor Barker and

:23:26.:23:31.

Katy Archibald, what a team they were and what gold-medal winners

:23:32.:23:35.

they are now. Paul Manning, the court on the inside of the track,

:23:36.:23:40.

and the USA, the world champions, have been beaten in the race that

:23:41.:23:44.

really matters here in Rio. The Americans cracked under pressure

:23:45.:23:47.

little bit, they did not use their resources as well as they might, the

:23:48.:23:52.

British team got everything out, absolutely delighted. Even Laura

:23:53.:23:57.

Trott was in difficulty on the final lap, she probably rode over one lap

:23:58.:24:01.

on her own, fighting to stay in contact, it did not matter, they

:24:02.:24:06.

built up such a big lead and the reason it looked ragged is because

:24:07.:24:10.

they were going so fast. What an incredible time. Anyone would look

:24:11.:24:13.

ragged riding at four minutes ten pace in an event like this, nobody

:24:14.:24:18.

has ever gone faster than those four women there, a new world record time

:24:19.:24:22.

but it wasn't about the time, it was about the result, about beating the

:24:23.:24:26.

team on the other side of the track. That is what they've done. Britain

:24:27.:24:30.

were the Olympic champions four years ago and the dominant force in

:24:31.:24:34.

the event in the early years of the event, but in the last couple of

:24:35.:24:37.

years they've not been the champions. Australia and the USA

:24:38.:24:41.

have overtaken them, so they've had to go our and work at it and come

:24:42.:24:46.

back stronger, they had to come back faster and, my word, they certainly

:24:47.:24:49.

have, we just seen the culmination of it. Masters of tapering, every

:24:50.:24:58.

four years now they seem to get it absolutely bang on, they've done it

:24:59.:25:02.

yet again, delighted there, Katy Archibald in that protected position

:25:03.:25:06.

in fourth, boy did she use it well. The powerhouse of the team. Joanna

:25:07.:25:11.

Rowsell Shand, one of the best starters in the world. And Elinor

:25:12.:25:15.

Barker and Katy Archibald in their first Olympic Games are Olympic

:25:16.:25:18.

champions. Barker with just 21, Katy Archibald at 22, Laura Trott herself

:25:19.:25:24.

is still only 24, one imagines there is plenty to come from this team.

:25:25.:25:28.

Smiles all around and well-deserved smiles. The USA really push them

:25:29.:25:37.

hard, it took a blistering world record to win it. Imagine coming

:25:38.:25:43.

year of breaking the world record and almost matching it for the

:25:44.:25:46.

second ride and still not coming out on top? There is Laura Trott,

:25:47.:25:53.

special moment for her as well, as I mentioned before, the first British

:25:54.:25:56.

woman in Olympic history to win three gold medals in any sport. The

:25:57.:26:00.

Golden girls have done it again. You can see the Americans getting

:26:01.:26:18.

carried off. Those pictures, summing up team spirit and how hard they've

:26:19.:26:23.

worked. Laura Trott the left, Joanna Rowsell Shand commonly been good

:26:24.:26:26.

friends and team-mates for a long time but the two new ones coming

:26:27.:26:30.

along and really playing their part, Elinor Barker and Katy Archibald,

:26:31.:26:35.

look at those hugs, the delight. But my word, what a race they had just

:26:36.:26:40.

to win the gold. 4.10 for a world record, it was phenomenal and the

:26:41.:26:44.

Americans did not produce a bad ride, they were almost on the

:26:45.:26:47.

previous world record pace, it was literally halfway through the attack

:26:48.:26:50.

to the start, the Americans, trying to put the Brits under pressure and

:26:51.:26:55.

they responded and it was Laura who produced a two lap spell that just

:26:56.:27:00.

turned things around. They brought up a second gap on it put them under

:27:01.:27:05.

pressure. The rider and the gap opened up and they never looked

:27:06.:27:08.

under any pressure. Manning, the coach coming in, Olympic champion in

:27:09.:27:15.

2008. Great to see the celebrations. So much work has gone into this, and

:27:16.:27:20.

Kieran Warren, the fifth member of the squad, did not write here, she

:27:21.:27:25.

is here, an integral part of the squad. Great to see all of that hard

:27:26.:27:29.

work paying off. It will make their way down to the mix zone, Jill

:27:30.:27:32.

Douglas will be there to greet them and interview them, Laura Trott was

:27:33.:27:38.

comes across as someone who is very funny, she has a fantastic sense of

:27:39.:27:41.

humour but I don't think realises how good she is. She set herself a

:27:42.:27:45.

head of the likes of Dame Kelly Holmes and Becky Adlington of the

:27:46.:27:49.

women who have won two gold medals, Charlotte Dujardin could win a third

:27:50.:27:53.

and possibly on Monday but you think Vicky Pendleton for example would

:27:54.:27:58.

have had to. Laura Trott out on her own now with three and the potential

:27:59.:28:01.

to add another here Rio in the on the. -- on the -- omnium. She's

:28:02.:28:13.

getting married to distant Kenny in September, they will have ten gold

:28:14.:28:17.

medals at home. Let your from them. Laura Trott, the first British woman

:28:18.:28:21.

to win three Olympic gold-medal scholar how precious was that one?

:28:22.:28:24.

It really was, you'd find not think about it in the background but

:28:25.:28:29.

stepping on the start line, it was something I wanted to achieve and to

:28:30.:28:33.

do it alongside these three girls was incredible. The feeling we were

:28:34.:28:38.

getting riding around, it felt like this machine has finally come

:28:39.:28:41.

together and we put our time that we knew we could achieve. A world

:28:42.:28:45.

record, we thought it might take one to win the gold medal. Definitely, I

:28:46.:28:49.

did not think we would do it three times over but come away with a four

:28:50.:28:53.

point ten which is the exact time targeted for us way back when it

:28:54.:28:56.

turned into a four Kay, to come here and achieve it was honestly

:28:57.:29:00.

incredible. Your third gold medal and a chance to make it four this

:29:01.:29:06.

week. I don't want to jinx it! I'm not thinking about it yet. I will

:29:07.:29:10.

let you go, you have to prepare for that omnium and I will have a word

:29:11.:29:13.

with your team-mates. Thank you. Girls, come in now, we could see

:29:14.:29:18.

from the reaction on your faces, once you got over the effort you put

:29:19.:29:22.

in, but this one meant you? It means the world to me, BSkyB near four

:29:23.:29:28.

years to win Olympic gold in London. -- obviously it's been four years.

:29:29.:29:33.

Battle in many ways, became as bronze medallists from the World

:29:34.:29:36.

Championships, not the world record holders and not much has gone our

:29:37.:29:40.

way in the last two years and I'm so proud of how we've pulled together

:29:41.:29:43.

over the last few months and I want it is not team-mates, Ciara Horne

:29:44.:29:47.

who has been reserved for a week and she's been a main part of the team

:29:48.:29:50.

for the last two years and a superb effort on the qualifying rounds to

:29:51.:29:54.

get us here at such a good support this week. I want to mention her

:29:55.:29:55.

being part of this team as well. Your first Olympics and going home

:29:56.:30:06.

with a Gold Medal, it must be a special evening. It is incredible,

:30:07.:30:10.

it's just flashed by. Struggling quite a bit. No wonder I was

:30:11.:30:19.

struggling, it was a shame I couldn't go a bit faster. That's how

:30:20.:30:27.

it goes. You saw your fellow Welsh cyclist Owain Doull doing at last

:30:28.:30:32.

night. He was in the same position as me, maybe it is a Welsh thing. We

:30:33.:30:38.

are proud of you. Katie Archibald Communist the World Championships

:30:39.:30:41.

after that motorcycle crash but coming here after everything you've

:30:42.:30:43.

been through and winning a Gold Medal. Yes, I guess so. We struggled

:30:44.:30:54.

for a bit and the girls, a great ride in London. I've lost a bit of

:30:55.:30:58.

my coherence, to be honest! Not surprised, it was a huge effort. I

:30:59.:31:07.

going to dye my hair gold? Yes, I can give it a go, I don't know. You

:31:08.:31:13.

are closer than I am! Did it feel like you were on world record pace,

:31:14.:31:17.

that you had it in the bag, because we thought it would be close but you

:31:18.:31:23.

really dominated this one. We were convinced it would go down down to

:31:24.:31:26.

the wire, America came out hard against us. They would have a tail

:31:27.:31:34.

on us, trying to close down the gap. I had a sneaky look to see that we

:31:35.:31:40.

were there. We were champing at the bit. We felt like superheroes, I

:31:41.:31:48.

suppose. Thank you very much. A terrific performance from the team

:31:49.:31:52.

pursuit. Could we see another Gold Medal for another female British

:31:53.:31:56.

cyclist? Becky James is up next in the gold-medal race for the keirin.

:31:57.:31:58.

Here is more about her. Looking back, can you believe that

:31:59.:32:12.

this day has arrived and you on the verge of your first Olympics? I

:32:13.:32:16.

really can't. Seven months ago, if you had said to me, keep training

:32:17.:32:21.

hard, you will go to the Olympics, I would have said Mayer, so this is

:32:22.:32:26.

unreal for me. When you look back to the disappointment of missing out in

:32:27.:32:29.

London, what was it like not being involved? Not a lot of fun, missing

:32:30.:32:34.

out was really hard for me. I knew I wasn't in good shape. It was the

:32:35.:32:39.

best thing that happened to me, I could knuckle down on my training

:32:40.:32:45.

through the winter and I had a pretty decent World Championships.

:32:46.:32:49.

The world title is at stake and Becky James is going to do it, the

:32:50.:32:53.

champion of the world. To take home that bag full of

:32:54.:32:57.

medals, what did that do for your confidence? A massive amount, we had

:32:58.:33:03.

a hard camp in Australia and each week I got quicker and quicker and

:33:04.:33:07.

came back to Manchester thinking I couldn't get quicker but I kept

:33:08.:33:10.

getting faster in each session. I went to Belarus thinking that I was

:33:11.:33:16.

in good shape and I had done everything I could and coming away

:33:17.:33:18.

with those medals was a huge confidence boost for me. Pretty good

:33:19.:33:25.

time for me. Yes, she's done it! Becky James, the double world

:33:26.:33:29.

champion. You went from riding on that crest

:33:30.:33:33.

to hitting the buffers. After the world's was at home and to start

:33:34.:33:38.

training hard which is when I picked up my knee injury, from

:33:39.:33:43.

overtraining. 18 months, I struggled with injury, missing a lot of

:33:44.:33:48.

training time. I couldn't imagine riding my bike, let alone a race in

:33:49.:33:54.

that time. In August I was so off the pace and I couldn't see how I

:33:55.:33:59.

could get back to where I was. Support from my family, George, my

:34:00.:34:04.

boyfriend, the staff at British Cycling, they believed in me, they

:34:05.:34:09.

knew that I would get back. I felt bad in the dark days but I'm glad I

:34:10.:34:14.

knuckled through. At the World Championships you showed your

:34:15.:34:16.

strength and you sent out a pretty strong signal to the world. I

:34:17.:34:20.

struggled that season and didn't really get any results in the World

:34:21.:34:25.

Cup and I was losing belief, but after Hong Kong I had five weeks of

:34:26.:34:28.

training until the worlds, and something changed and I was really

:34:29.:34:33.

happy and I thought whatever happens now is going to be. Similar to when

:34:34.:34:39.

I went to Minsk, knowing I had done everything I could to be in the

:34:40.:34:43.

position I was and that's what helped me to get into the final of

:34:44.:34:47.

the keirin. For me it was on a par with winning my world titles because

:34:48.:34:51.

I never would have imagined winning a medal again. Better than a Gold

:34:52.:34:57.

Medal for me and the rest of the team. What are your expectations in

:34:58.:35:01.

Rio? I have no idea, I've done everything I can to do everything

:35:02.:35:07.

right, my diet, my training, I'm going with an open mind and as long

:35:08.:35:11.

as I do my best, I will see what I come away with and I will be happy.

:35:12.:35:19.

A long road back for Becky James but now she gets her chance, she's into

:35:20.:35:24.

the gold-medal race for the keirin. Chris, what does she have to do? She

:35:25.:35:28.

must dictate the tactics of the rest of the riders, don't let them impose

:35:29.:35:34.

themselves on the race. She did it well in the second round. She must

:35:35.:35:38.

get to the front early, but not too early, keep the pace fast, but not

:35:39.:35:45.

too fast. Simple! Is a tricky race, different ways of winning the keirin

:35:46.:35:49.

but for Becky, the best place is to be at the front, staying out of

:35:50.:35:54.

trouble, keeping the pace high, digging deep, remembering the hard

:35:55.:35:59.

work it has taken to get here, using that inspiration and I really think

:36:00.:36:06.

she can end up on the podium. It won't have been part of her

:36:07.:36:10.

preparation, but she will have known that the British women have won gold

:36:11.:36:14.

in the team pursuit. Here we go, the keirin final. COMMENTATOR: The

:36:15.:36:20.

Olympic final and what a line-up we've got. Looking at Kristina

:36:21.:36:30.

Vogel, and there is the rider from the Netherlands, Ellis Ligtlee.

:36:31.:36:37.

Something of a wildcard in the final, Shulika. Voinova, team

:36:38.:36:45.

silver-medallist, beaten by China. Anna Meares, a two-time Olympic,

:36:46.:36:49.

blessed, three-time keirin world champion including last year. A big

:36:50.:36:54.

cheer for Becky James of Great Britain, world champion three years

:36:55.:37:01.

ago. The current world champion, Kristina Vogel. Eight laps to decide

:37:02.:37:09.

who will carry off the gold-medal. We've seen Becky James riding from

:37:10.:37:13.

the fund, we've seen her coming from the back and I think that was quite

:37:14.:37:19.

telling, her mind is working as well as the legs -- from the front. But

:37:20.:37:24.

against stiff competition. As Sir Chris Hoy said, she has a shout of

:37:25.:37:28.

winning the race, absolutely, but it is by no means certain. Due to the

:37:29.:37:34.

health scare and injury problems she's had, she has effectively had

:37:35.:37:37.

to rebuild her career from scratch over the last 12 months. Going

:37:38.:37:43.

towards the back again, quite happily. The tactic worked well for

:37:44.:37:48.

her in the previous round. She started her acceleration in the bend

:37:49.:37:54.

and you think that's not the best place to pass, five metres extra,

:37:55.:37:58.

but she launched down the back straight and was already moving

:37:59.:38:03.

faster. I'm just wondering if she wants to employ that tactic again.

:38:04.:38:08.

The small motorbike accelerates up to wards 45 KPH. Voinova, then Annie

:38:09.:38:18.

Mears, -- Anna Meares, third in line. Then the world champion,

:38:19.:38:25.

Kristina Vogel. Ligtlee, in the orange helmet, in fifth, and

:38:26.:38:42.

bringing up the rear, base over -- Basova from the Ukraine. One of the

:38:43.:38:50.

advantages of being further back, although they cannot pass the

:38:51.:39:00.

motorbike, you can start your acceleration earlier, so when the

:39:01.:39:02.

bike drops off you are moving earlier. Swings and roundabouts.

:39:03.:39:10.

They will be getting twitchy, knowing that the bike is going to

:39:11.:39:20.

disappear off the far side. It will be game over. A two and a half lap

:39:21.:39:25.

scrap for the line. Giving themselves room to work. Checking

:39:26.:39:31.

what is in front and also whether they are going to be boxed in,

:39:32.:39:35.

that's a big danger in the race, being boxed and not able to move.

:39:36.:39:43.

Voinova on the front. The race is on now. Voinova, from Vogel, from Anna

:39:44.:39:49.

Meares. At the back, Becky James in the dark suit. Less than two laps to

:39:50.:39:54.

go, Becky James has plenty to do as Link Lee goes to the front. James

:39:55.:40:00.

needs to go for the forwards -- Ellis Ligtlee. Kristina Vogel coming

:40:01.:40:06.

up to second now. Onto the shoulder of the Dutch woman. Becky James is

:40:07.:40:09.

at the back and now she tries to make inroads. Becky James around the

:40:10.:40:14.

outside, it is a long way. Link Lee Lee's going -- Ellis Ligtlee wins

:40:15.:40:25.

it, I think it is a Silver Medal for Becky James. Ligtlee leading from

:40:26.:40:34.

the front and stayed there, but on the last lap, Becky James powered

:40:35.:40:38.

her way around nearly the entire field, surging towards the line and

:40:39.:40:43.

I'm sure she has won a medal. Massive acceleration, the biggest

:40:44.:40:48.

acceleration of anybody. Having to come such a long way around. It was

:40:49.:40:54.

too much to do. For a moment we thought maybe she can but it was too

:40:55.:41:00.

late. Definitely silver, for Becky James, behind Ligtlee and ahead of

:41:01.:41:04.

Anna Meares who takes the bronze. Ligtlee can hardly believe it, a

:41:05.:41:08.

European champion and now an Olympic champion. And a popular winner too

:41:09.:41:16.

by the looks of it. It was a clean ride, she powered her way to the

:41:17.:41:20.

front and then took control of the race. All eyes were on Becky James

:41:21.:41:25.

who had too much to do, she had to come around every single person.

:41:26.:41:30.

What a result for Becky James when you think of the troubles she has

:41:31.:41:33.

had over the last couple of years. And her coaches are very happy for

:41:34.:41:41.

her. In this event, you've got to be in the hunt and hope it goes your

:41:42.:41:44.

way. Silver Medal, nothing to be sneezed at. Magnificent from

:41:45.:41:49.

Ligtlee, the world silver-medallist. Becky James, what a final lap from

:41:50.:41:56.

her, and it needed to be. Great to see people so happy about winning,

:41:57.:42:01.

isn't it? That's the bit about sport we like, seeing the emotion, all of

:42:02.:42:06.

that work and time dedicated and in a fraction of a second it is over

:42:07.:42:10.

and she can't believe she has got it won. Becky James' family seeing her,

:42:11.:42:14.

what a special moment that is. Olympics over medal for Becky James

:42:15.:42:21.

in the women's keirin. I think she's got to be pleased with that. Her

:42:22.:42:26.

family are delighted she is back racing and safe. Anna Meares,

:42:27.:42:31.

experienced campaigner, always seems to get something. George North, her

:42:32.:42:40.

boyfriend, joining in the celebrations. Special moment for the

:42:41.:42:44.

family. They have been along with her over the last couple of years,

:42:45.:42:49.

all of the troubles she's had, that career threatening injury, a long

:42:50.:42:54.

way back. It will feel worth it now after a ride like that and an

:42:55.:43:00.

Olympic medal. A very popular rider in the team, great to see these

:43:01.:43:04.

celebrations. And that, you can see how much it

:43:05.:43:21.

means to everybody, but also George North, they are giving her so much

:43:22.:43:25.

support, he is a grand slam winner with Wales. Sometimes it takes a

:43:26.:43:29.

sportsman to understand what another sports person is going through.

:43:30.:43:34.

Posing for the family photo. Terrific stuff from Becky James and

:43:35.:43:38.

you were very tense, Chris, because she was in a bad position with a lap

:43:39.:43:42.

to go. It was difficult because she was time to -- trying to get to the

:43:43.:43:48.

front and if you try and attack when the pace is high, you can be hung

:43:49.:43:52.

out to dry, so she had to be patient and she left it until one lap to go

:43:53.:43:57.

before she started her move. She is right at the back, the Dutch girl is

:43:58.:44:01.

at the front, there isn't much option. Starting to make her move,

:44:02.:44:08.

around the outside. You can see the turn of pace, appearing out of

:44:09.:44:12.

nowhere and although she has the pace, she is going four wide. It is

:44:13.:44:18.

the last few metres, surging through, just pipping Anna Meares,

:44:19.:44:21.

one of the greatest female sprinters of all time. So pleased for her. We

:44:22.:44:26.

have to say, this isn't a guaranteed medal, it is a difficult event and

:44:27.:44:32.

it is fantastic for her. Wonderful injection and it is the sustained

:44:33.:44:37.

pace, that has got to hurt. It is painful, it is no fee. It is one of

:44:38.:44:45.

these things, you need the courage, we spoke about it earlier -- nervy.

:44:46.:44:54.

Her coach since she was first on the team, involved in the programme.

:44:55.:44:58.

Great moment for the team, she is popular with the team. A great

:44:59.:45:05.

moment. This is almost like a bonus. Some on the team were bankers,

:45:06.:45:10.

hopefully the Omni and is a banker, the team sprint was a surprise and

:45:11.:45:14.

this was too. We knew it was possible, good to see her doing so

:45:15.:45:20.

well. Kristina Vogel, the favourite, she was in sixth Place, showing you

:45:21.:45:24.

how surprisingly it is. It is a terrifying events to watch and to

:45:25.:45:26.

have to come from so high. Many congratulations, musical about

:45:27.:45:39.

dog days coming into these Olympics for the last two years, just what

:45:40.:45:45.

does that win mean? I'm lost for words, I don't think I've ever been

:45:46.:45:48.

lost for words. I can't believe that just happened. I'm over the moon, I

:45:49.:45:52.

came in with really good form and that is what I love the Keirin and

:45:53.:45:58.

the racing and once I got through the first round I thought I would

:45:59.:46:01.

enjoy the entire day of racing and I don't know, I was at the back and

:46:02.:46:07.

thinking, when do I go? I had so much speed in the last half. I don't

:46:08.:46:12.

know where it came from. I was so desperate for the medal. You fought

:46:13.:46:16.

so hard to see you celebrating with your family, I know they often come

:46:17.:46:20.

to watch -- they cannot often come to watch you, her special wasn't for

:46:21.:46:24.

them to be here? So special, I have ten of them here which is

:46:25.:46:27.

incredible, my mum has never been on a long haul flight, they've never

:46:28.:46:30.

watched a race together apart from world this year, it is incredible

:46:31.:46:38.

and have enjoyed my auntie, I've had so much support from British

:46:39.:46:42.

cycling, everyone, it has been a difficult 18 months, two years and I

:46:43.:46:44.

couldn't have done it without their help. This will be a male we've all

:46:45.:46:51.

one together. -- a medal. Congratulations. Thank you.

:46:52.:46:55.

Wonderful from Becky James but we will go straight to the semifinals

:46:56.:46:58.

of the men's sprint, Jason Kenny in the first of them against Dennis

:46:59.:47:04.

Dmitriev, this will be close. I think you're right because Dmitriev

:47:05.:47:09.

as we've seen is a canny operator and he has an excellent record. A

:47:10.:47:13.

medallist in the World Championship in each of the last four years, very

:47:14.:47:17.

much a contender from the start of the competition, into the last four

:47:18.:47:23.

now, best-of-3 to go through to the file itself. Jason Kenny the

:47:24.:47:25.

defending Olympic champion, leading on this first lap of three and Calum

:47:26.:47:33.

Skinner is the other semifinal against Matt Glaetzer from

:47:34.:47:35.

Australia, two cracking semifinals to look forward to in theory.

:47:36.:47:41.

Dmitrieva has shown some real power riding to this point. I think Jason

:47:42.:47:46.

Kenny has more flexibility and scope for different styles of tactic but a

:47:47.:47:52.

difficult man. Interesting how this one will go, Kenny has looked so

:47:53.:47:56.

cool since the start of this competition. Really confident in his

:47:57.:48:03.

own form and in control just now. Happy to keep this one down the

:48:04.:48:08.

bottom. By doing so forces his opponents to have to try and

:48:09.:48:11.

accelerate over the top, so every time his opponent moves up the

:48:12.:48:14.

banking Jason has to mirror that move and increase the speed, always

:48:15.:48:24.

a combination of distance and speed. Dmitriev trying to slow, this

:48:25.:48:30.

weaving is just trying to keep Jason Kenny guessing as to what he will

:48:31.:48:38.

do. Jason Kenny's head needs to be asked whether just now. He has done

:48:39.:48:44.

the job of leading of ad hoc walking pace but now the race is open and

:48:45.:48:48.

they start accelerating. Here go with Dmitriev -- Dmitriev have a

:48:49.:48:54.

look on inside and finding the door shut on his face as they take the

:48:55.:48:57.

bell and the race is on, Jason Kenny will take it from the front, still

:48:58.:49:01.

keeping his eye on Dmitriev he must get on with it on the back straight.

:49:02.:49:05.

Dmitriev with a fine burst of pace trolls level of edges in front but

:49:06.:49:09.

as they come into the finishing straight neck and neck, Dmitriev

:49:10.:49:13.

gets it and for the first time in this competition Jason Kenny is

:49:14.:49:17.

beaten and he has to win the next right to stay in it. That was a

:49:18.:49:21.

superb ride, looked like he was drawn onto the wheel to early but a

:49:22.:49:27.

superior acceleration in the back straight, did a fantastic job. Was a

:49:28.:49:31.

by that, Kenny has been very confidence so far. As Mike was a

:49:32.:49:37.

little surprised. That was some flower power of firepower. Dmitriev

:49:38.:49:47.

was fantastic, searing pace. Jason Kenny was unable to keep up with us

:49:48.:49:55.

here as -- cubit is again. Dmitriev almost a mirror image of Kenny but

:49:56.:49:58.

when it encountered is drag race Dmitriev at the power to drive over

:49:59.:50:03.

the top. Once he got level in that final bend he is effectively going

:50:04.:50:10.

one kilometre per hour faster. Frustration you can see the body

:50:11.:50:13.

language of Jason Kenny as he crosses the line. Very annoyed with

:50:14.:50:18.

himself and how that turned out. Fast sprinting, 10.1 and they are

:50:19.:50:23.

delighted. Not sure they were expecting it either, but we said

:50:24.:50:27.

earlier in this competition he was the dark horse and he's proving to

:50:28.:50:32.

be that one race up. The pressure is really on Jason Kenny now next time

:50:33.:50:36.

out. Coming up on the track is the second of the semifinals, race one,

:50:37.:50:44.

Calum Skinner against Matt Glaetzer. What the matchup this could be

:50:45.:50:47.

between these two. Both have been very assertive so far in this

:50:48.:50:53.

competition and both have dominated the race is they been involved in.

:50:54.:51:00.

Matt Glaetzer is a fiery and passionate performer, very agile on

:51:01.:51:02.

the track and slightly different parties to what he dealt with so

:51:03.:51:11.

far. Acquitted himself like he has lived here all his life. Improved

:51:12.:51:15.

his form is dramatically to help them win that team sprint gold

:51:16.:51:21.

medal, now he's seeing how far he can go and I think we're about to

:51:22.:51:22.

find out. Mind games there, Skinner looking

:51:23.:51:33.

across at Glaetzer. The Luke Wood turned by the Australian. And it is

:51:34.:51:40.

on. As I mentioned earlier, the rider who draws number-1 is obliged

:51:41.:51:45.

to lead off for at least half a lap at the -- at least a walking pace,

:51:46.:51:49.

after that they want a standstill they can for a maximum of 30

:51:50.:51:53.

seconds. We've not seen much of that on the 250 metre tracks, the

:51:54.:51:58.

finishing straight is so short there isn't a huge advantage to be at the

:51:59.:52:04.

back of the time, so races tend to be a little quicker. Right now it is

:52:05.:52:13.

all tactics. Calum Skinner slowly rolling around the track, watching

:52:14.:52:16.

the Australian like a Hawk, watching every move he makes. Glaetzer

:52:17.:52:23.

manages to get that big powerful form scrunched up into an incredibly

:52:24.:52:25.

aerodynamic package, really stretched out on his bike and holds

:52:26.:52:36.

it even when under full pressure. The pace going up now, the

:52:37.:52:40.

Australian taking it up the track and Skinner obliged to match that,

:52:41.:52:44.

but doesn't want and commentaries, which is why they switched around

:52:45.:52:47.

the track, he knows he has to come along way around and Glaetzer

:52:48.:52:52.

accelerates, the race is on. Skinner still looking and watching the

:52:53.:52:55.

inside, making sure the Australian does not go down as they take the

:52:56.:52:58.

bell, there into the last lap and they will go hell for never --

:52:59.:53:04.

leather to the line, does he have the speed doubled on? Glaetzer

:53:05.:53:07.

working hard to try and draw level as they come towards the line but he

:53:08.:53:11.

cannot do it. That is a great ride by Calum Skinner. Remarkable, as

:53:12.:53:16.

fast as they come back, written from the front, 10.1 is a very fast time

:53:17.:53:21.

and that was the best sprint I think we've seen from him in that series.

:53:22.:53:25.

Glaetzer did it right, he laid off and kept his height late and they

:53:26.:53:29.

might have been an error I would have thought but he just had the

:53:30.:53:32.

power when it mattered. Physically strong and mentally tough as well,

:53:33.:53:37.

Calum Skinner. Not intimidated by the situation he is in in this match

:53:38.:53:41.

Brent. He is a man with nothing to lose, he is already on cloud nine

:53:42.:53:45.

and what time to produce the sprint of your life. Calum Skinner is now

:53:46.:53:50.

one win away from the Olympic final and going for gold. Jason Kenny is

:53:51.:53:56.

one defeat away from having to go for bronze. Here we see Calum

:53:57.:54:00.

Skinner, who led the sprint from start to finish and Glaetzer gave

:54:01.:54:05.

everything he had but couldn't draw level and overtake the British

:54:06.:54:10.

riders. Calum Skinner draws first blood in the semifinal.

:54:11.:54:18.

A great start for Calum Skinner. What about Jason Kenny? Was hoisted

:54:19.:54:24.

in alongside me, did you always hated being the one that had to

:54:25.:54:28.

lead? Is that the disadvantage? It depends on your strengths and

:54:29.:54:30.

weaknesses, I prefer riding from behind to create a gap and rush my

:54:31.:54:35.

opponent and try and pass them at the end, it depends on your

:54:36.:54:38.

strengths, Jason is usually very good at leading from the front, he

:54:39.:54:41.

has good acceleration and a great top end speed, he was doing OK

:54:42.:54:46.

there, the problem was he allowed Dmitriev to push him on and start

:54:47.:54:49.

accelerating too soon and that was the real problem, he is frustrated,

:54:50.:54:54.

think that was a tactical error rather than a lack of speed but

:54:55.:55:01.

Dmitriev, that was a great ride. Here we go, he was pushing him on,

:55:02.:55:08.

Jason started effort now, to -- Dmitriev steps that ahead and if

:55:09.:55:11.

your head was 100 metres to go on the outside will be ahead at the

:55:12.:55:13.

finishing line and that is what Dmitriev did. It was catching him

:55:14.:55:20.

napping a little bit. Jason wasn't expecting him to come at that speed

:55:21.:55:24.

early and SINGING Launched one.

:55:25.:55:27.

Dmitriev will have to lead in their second race. Yes but he is good from

:55:28.:55:33.

the front as well. Dmitriev cause you don't the front line, that is

:55:34.:55:36.

when he's dangerous was a dismal gain height of greater gap and get

:55:37.:55:40.

himself to play with and run at him was a dismal gain height of greater

:55:41.:55:43.

gap and get himself room to play with and run at him with all his

:55:44.:55:46.

bid. He is renowned for the 200 and Dmitriev is in the 9.8 so few users

:55:47.:55:49.

should be can beat him and if he is drawn into the acceleration badly is

:55:50.:55:53.

difficult. Calum Skinner comes into the Olympics slightly without

:55:54.:55:57.

enthusiasm and naivete of youth. He is the one who's defending champion,

:55:58.:56:02.

Jason Kenny is. Calum Skinner impressing everyone. Fantastic spell

:56:03.:56:08.

and still accelerating. Glaetzer was closing Calum had left in the tank

them and they will ors all feel it together, they will all hurt now for

:56:32.:56:34.

how long do they have to recover? Are not sure tonight, normally it is

:56:35.:56:39.

a short gap between the second ride and third right, we know that Jason

:56:40.:56:43.

hopefully will go to three rides and if it does there will be a short gap

:56:44.:56:47.

and it will be, that is where it is difficult, the world champions at

:56:48.:56:50.

the final right-wing greater and Jason you could see the incident on

the start line waiting to go on their chests are going up and down,

they were still breathing really hard from the previous effort and

:56:56.:56:59.

that is when the training and covering and hard work it is not

:57:00.:57:03.

just about one of effort, it is about repeated efforts through the

:57:04.:57:06.

day. The action has been coming thick and fast, we seen a gold medal

:57:07.:57:09.

and we will have that ceremony in a moment, silver medal as well for

:57:10.:57:12.

Becky James and in the meantime on Centre Court one of the best venues

:57:13.:57:18.

Olympic Park, what a semifinal, this further rights to meet Andy Murray

:57:19.:57:25.

in the gold-medal match tomorrow this match point Mateen Del Porto of

:57:26.:57:31.

Argentina, -- Del Potro Argentina. The match lasted three hours and

:57:32.:57:35.

eight minutes. It was Nadal's 11 match in 60s, already winning the

:57:36.:57:41.

doubles and four Del Potro, who took bronze in London, he will now be

:57:42.:57:46.

going for gold. What a comeback for him, so many injury problems. He is

:57:47.:57:51.

back at the top of tennis. Disappointment for Nadal, but look

:57:52.:57:54.

at Del Potro going into the crowd, all the Argentinian fans and his

:57:55.:57:58.

supporters, wonderful. He will tomorrow at about 7:30am your time

:57:59.:58:05.

play Andy Murray for gold, meanwhile, this is the gold-medal

:58:06.:58:08.

match for the women, Angelique Kerber, Australian Open champion and

:58:09.:58:12.

runner-up at Wimbledon against monster quake -- Puig of Porta

:58:13.:58:21.

:58:22.:58:29.

the Red Button later tonight. We will get to see more fire and Greg

:58:30.:58:33.

Rutherford and Jessica Ennis-Hill Katarina Johnson-Thompson, all of

:58:34.:58:37.

those in action in the athletics, but this, the moment that the

:58:38.:58:40.

women's team can celebrate their gold medal in the pursuit. Casey

:58:41.:58:45.

Eichfeld, Elinor Barker, Joel Rosol Shands and Laura Trott, who today

:58:46.:58:49.

became the first women from Great Britain to win three Olympic gold

:58:50.:58:55.

medals. Special day for them and it was great to watch. Not one world

:58:56.:59:03.

record today, but two. And now, the medal ceremony itself.

:59:04.:59:13.

Consistency from the Canadian squad, making it to the podium. Finishing

:59:14.:59:25.

third in London in 2012. The United States gave everything they had. In

:59:26.:59:35.

the end they were too ragged, they couldn't hold it together as both

:59:36.:59:40.

teams were fighting at world record pace to land the Gold Medal.

:59:41.:59:52.

Phenomenal riding by the British. We have been awarding man of the match

:59:53.:59:58.

awards here, woman of the match, Kate Archibald was so strong,

:59:59.:00:04.

putting in two and I lap turns and she put in the killing blow and

:00:05.:00:13.

accelerated. So, bronze for Canada again. They were too good for New

:00:14.:00:21.

Zealand in that race for third place. We thought it would be a

:00:22.:00:25.

closely fought contest but Canada were far and away the better of the

:00:26.:00:29.

two teams in this, their third ride of the competition. Alison

:00:30.:00:35.

Beveridge, the Pan American gold-medallist in the team pursuit,

:00:36.:00:39.

bronze in the road race as well, now has an Olympic bronze medal. Jasmine

:00:40.:00:45.

blazer, winning bronze four years ago in this event -- Glazer. Kirsty

:00:46.:00:54.

Lay, the former speed skater. More than playing her part, as did George

:00:55.:01:01.

Simmerling, from Vancouver. Three different Olympic Games -- Georgia.

:01:02.:01:12.

Three medals. Finishing with bronze and silver in the last couple of

:01:13.:01:15.

World Championships so we knew that they would be there or thereabouts.

:01:16.:01:21.

There was no real feeling it would be anything other than the United

:01:22.:01:25.

States and Great Britain and maybe Australia, who were knocked out of

:01:26.:01:28.

the running because of a crash in training a couple of days before the

:01:29.:01:36.

competition. The silver-medallists... The Americans

:01:37.:01:44.

are not looking very happy about it at the moment after breaking the

:01:45.:01:48.

world record. They must have been thinking they could get gold.

:01:49.:01:53.

They've broken their own world record but they ended up with

:01:54.:01:59.

silver. Sarah Hammer, she is the driving force in that team and do

:02:00.:02:03.

you think maybe sometimes she is too much of a driving force which does

:02:04.:02:07.

this is only help the others? I don't think teams have learned to

:02:08.:02:12.

get the best out of her. Her speed profile, quite up and down. It tells

:02:13.:02:16.

me that the strength, you need to work for longer to give the weaker

:02:17.:02:22.

riders more of a rest. I think real tactical potential for them to

:02:23.:02:25.

improve their performance and threatened for a gold in future.

:02:26.:02:31.

Jennifer Valente, the last American rider to receive her medal. Kelly

:02:32.:02:37.

kaplin, second from the left, she is also a concept vilest -- Catlin.

:02:38.:02:46.

Often heard practising in the hotels where they are staying. Quite a

:02:47.:02:54.

mixture of abilities, isn't it? Dygert, also a strong rider in the

:02:55.:03:00.

team. Coming up now, the moment that a good number of the people inside

:03:01.:03:04.

the velodrome had come to see. Certainly the moment we were hoping

:03:05.:03:10.

to see and hear it is stop the Olympic champions -- and here it is.

:03:11.:03:17.

The Olympic champions... Great Britain! CHEERING

:03:18.:03:23.

Olympic champions again, as they were in London four years ago. Kate

:03:24.:03:33.

Archibald, Laura Trott, Elinor Barker and Joanna Rowsell Shand.

:03:34.:03:36.

Doing it in a blistering world record time. Katie Archibald, in her

:03:37.:03:45.

first Olympic Games, a Gold Medal to add to the one world title she has

:03:46.:03:50.

won. Laura Trott, her third Olympic gold. The Omnium is still to come.

:03:51.:03:56.

Elinor Barker, and 21, another in her first Games. And Joanna Rowsell

:03:57.:04:03.

Shand, who has been such a key part of the squad, she was riding in

:04:04.:04:08.

London and this is her second Olympic crown. Archibald, those long

:04:09.:04:18.

turns she put in. Jo Rowsell-Shand, always the starter in these events,

:04:19.:04:22.

the one with the power to get off the mark. Just to reiterate, this

:04:23.:04:26.

wasn't a foregone conclusion, they hadn't won either of the last World

:04:27.:04:33.

Championships. Now, back on the top of the podium. And here comes the

:04:34.:04:38.

national anthem. The United States laid down the

:04:39.:05:35.

gauntlet at the World Championships earlier in the year and also here in

:05:36.:05:40.

Rio and the British women responded and prevailed to claim gold.

:05:41.:05:49.

And now the celebrations can really start.

:05:50.:06:00.

And there is a special athlete who I think we'll be seeing on the front

:06:01.:06:05.

pages of newspapers tomorrow. All four of them, hopefully. World

:06:06.:06:12.

record-breaking in her own right, three golds, she can't celebrate

:06:13.:06:17.

because she has more work to do. The Omnium is coming up and expectations

:06:18.:06:26.

there for herself and of her -- and her form is fairly fantastic. Becky

:06:27.:06:30.

James still to come to the podium for the ceremony for the women's

:06:31.:06:32.

keirin, to take her Silver Medal. STUDIO: Sir Chris Hoy is alongside

:06:33.:06:46.

me watching the ceremony. I think they did well, I would start crying,

:06:47.:06:50.

sorry! When you hear the national anthem, I think it's so emotional! I

:06:51.:06:58.

don't, I have never cried! I think when you are part of a team, it can

:06:59.:07:04.

be far more emotional, you realise what you have gone through together.

:07:05.:07:11.

Laura has another race to come, realising she has the Omnium to

:07:12.:07:15.

focus on. They seem so happy and why not, they've broken the world record

:07:16.:07:21.

twice, three times to get the Gold Medal, fantastic performance. How

:07:22.:07:25.

has British cycling improve the depth and talent of female cyclists

:07:26.:07:31.

in the last 4-8 years? For the team pursuit in particular, because the

:07:32.:07:36.

event has grown to have four riders per team, they have had to cast the

:07:37.:07:41.

net wider because you want to have a squad of eight, to whittle it down

:07:42.:07:45.

to five and finally the quartet of the race. Not just the track, the

:07:46.:07:53.

road as well. We are looking for future BMX champions. Bethany

:07:54.:07:57.

Shreve, a great hope for the future. A lot of great cyclists in the

:07:58.:08:04.

British squad and they have won more medals in the World Championships,

:08:05.:08:08.

the women, than the men have. I suspect that photo will be on the

:08:09.:08:12.

back page if not the front page of a lot of newspapers tomorrow morning.

:08:13.:08:16.

Laura Trott, second from the right, her own little piece of history as

:08:17.:08:21.

an individual but she is such a team player, she won't even be thinking

:08:22.:08:25.

about that. She knows how much she owes to everybody else but in the

:08:26.:08:29.

context of that race she made such a difference. She made a huge

:08:30.:08:33.

contribution, it was a significant moment when she hit the front,

:08:34.:08:36.

opening the gap over the Americans and it broke them, really. Classy

:08:37.:08:41.

ride from all of them and they thoroughly deserved it. Ciara Horne,

:08:42.:08:45.

the fifth member of the squad, very tough for her. Mixed emotions: proud

:08:46.:08:51.

and happy for the girls but sad to have moved out on the chance to

:08:52.:08:55.

experience it herself. No doubt she'll be fighting to get into the

:08:56.:09:01.

squad for Tokyo in four years' time. Laura is keeping an eye out, you can

:09:02.:09:06.

see that she is searching around because her fiance, Jason Kenny is

:09:07.:09:10.

in a real battle to get through to a decider in the men's sprint. He was

:09:11.:09:15.

beaten in the first of the best of three races by Denis Dmitriev. We

:09:16.:09:19.

will see the next race on BBC Two shortly. Jason Kenny has got to win

:09:20.:09:24.

it to take it to a decider. Can he, in a word? Yes! He gives you the

:09:25.:09:31.

word! He is full of confidence. It has been a good night for the

:09:32.:09:35.

British cyclists in the velodrome. Hopefully more to come, Callum

:09:36.:09:38.

Skinner and Jason Kenny are trying to get through to the men's sprint

:09:39.:09:42.

final. If they meet each other it would be in the Gold Medal race but

:09:43.:09:46.

Jason Kenny must win his next race in order to take it to a decider and

:09:47.:09:49.

to get through to the Gold Medal match. It is tense! Join us on BBC
