Dragons's play-off hopes may be dead and buried but they are

from sixth, at Dragons victory tonight could have an impact.

We will come to scrum five live from Rodney Parade, I am Martin --

joined by Martyn Williams, and I imagined the Ospreys will be

rooting for Dragons to make. Yes, it is all but the European Cup

spot tonight for the Dragons. There is no way they will get in the top

four. If they can sneak into Europe ahead of the blues, that is great

motivation. The Blues have a different -- great game up and

Edinburgh. Over the years, the Dragons have

not offered many players to the Wales squad. Two of their star

players are with Wales. It has allowed some of the youngsters to

step up to the plate in the last week. Louis Evans, the club captain,

and Nic Cudd, making a name for himself and the past few weeks, a

turnover specialist. They also have the big guy in the back crawl,

Ieuan Jones. They think a lot of hint in Rodney Parade. Quite in

experienced, that back-row. Yes, at Ieuan Jones is Mr

consistent. Nick had has really caught my eye the last SFA -- the

last few weeks. He really does get involved. Ieuan Jones is what this

game is all about. The star players are a way and it is a huge

opportunity for the youngsters. He played in the under twenties and

the Junior World Cup, so they are expecting big things for him toss

whole box of tricks tonight. What are you looking at?

High walked across the pitch earlier, conditions will be

difficult. When that is the case, the half-backs need to be

technically very sound. They have a young pair in, Jonathan Evans and

Steffan Jones have crucial roles to play and the kicking game. Young

Jonathan Evans has really impressed the coaching staff of the Dragons

lately, and tonight his service will be very important in greasy

conditions. His box kicking and sniping keeping the Glasgow defence

almost. Steffan Jones has an eye for a gap. He is kicking well,

pressure is off, he is charged with the running for a crucial win for

the Dragons. A quick word about Glasgow, you have coached them many

times, the fly under the radar. They are second in the table and

always are. The air consistently in the top

half of the probe well. Gregor Townsend has added a below

attacking edge. When you can call on the solid back row, you have

your hands full. They have depth in the squad. They will be looking to

get in the top of the pro 12th with a crucial win tonight.

As was mentioned, we talked about Nic Cudd, he is up against a widely

campaigner against John Barclay. He is a stranger, John Barclay, a

few years ago people were talking about his potential. He is an

outstanding player. He seems to have talked -- dropped down to the

rankings as far as Scotland's election is concerned. He ban

up the field. The team might have done what a lot of teams do,

little break, but Jonathan Evans is coming in from the side, offside,

got up on him. He plays with a lot of confidence, Steffan Jones. He

loves to have the ball in hand. He week after a lay-off. I saw him

played last year, up one of the British and Irish Cup games, and he

was absolutely fantastic, took total control of the game, helped

by a powerful pack performance, but in poor conditions. He took total

control. He certainly has something. He has been pinpointed as someone

who can move through the ranks and become an international player of

He is not the biggest of men, but in the breakdown area, that is

where he will really thrive. He is in there quickly, Barkley goes to

feet. That's what Glasgow have been good at all season. The ball comes

out, OK, and overlap. I think it is Dan Evans, he had to make a

decision, pushes it out wide and when you do that quickly, it opens

the gap inside. Conditions like this when the ground is a bit

sloppy, you lose your footing. I have been impressed with him. Only

16 minutes gone, he looks a very good player. One game back in 2011,

Dragons defence focused constantly and eventually found the

have looked alert. So they do play with pace. That has been a hallmark

play good rugby. They need the ball running out of space. If that ball

was a little bit quicker, but great hands here, though. A quick inside

ball by Jack Dixon. Will Harries is in space, and everything is

of a slog, but it has been anything but that by both teams the sea

Glasgow's. There is something about that spot on the 22 that nobody

particularly likes. There is no Steffan Jones will give Will

Harries a chase, but in the safety of the touch line, as well. I do

not think I have seen so many quick line-out throws in the space of 20

minutes. We have seen some pretty poor kicking, to a certain degree,

but most of it has been quite been given four. Or was it

Dragons. Ieuan Jones want to be in saying Ieuan Jones just want to get

out there and play and prove Jones. They need to pick -- keeps

the pressure on the line-out. If they win it committed the pressure

on the kicker. He identified the space, executed it fantastically

well. That is what you want. Whatever happens, they need to

pressure the line-out and keep them in the 22. They need to build some

opportunity before half-time. Just to cut this large lead that Glasgow

Dragons coaching team is Phil Steele. A lot of possession for the

Dragons, but how much of an issue is the lack of territory? It has

cost us points. We need to be playing in their half.

Heady you get back from this? have to build a our score. We are

playing against a good team and have to work hard.

Thank you. They need some points before half-

ruck at the moment, for the Dragons. Glasgow don't want to get involved,

can see why they were doing it, Glasgow where standing off, looking

to fan out wide. The best way to do it, we saw with Glasgow earlier on,

is when you are on the front foot. You have momentum, the defence is

on the back foot, and you constantly make those couple of

yards and can draw in defenders. Unfortunately, it was all a bit too

slow and too easy for the Glasgow position. That is going to be

perfection. What a bounce that was, it turned at right angles, didn't

it? It did. Very well placed. It bounced in field. Dan Evans needed

to do better there, though. It has given Glasgow another chance to

camp themselves in the 22 and get some more. Backs before half-time.

He just makes the decision, it is the right one. They thought they

would have a line-out, forcing the kick, from Dan Evans, but it is

even better. Look at the difference, Henry Prygos is moving the ball

away very quickly. Years more often than not picking the one out who

has a chance to find a little bit of space. -- he is, more often than

not. He is hitting the right person, the other people are at a slightly

different angles, they are always finding a little bit of space. The

tendency with the Dragons at the moment, although there is plenty of

huff and puff and drive with them, they are all running in the same

line, easy to defend. You are standing there, looking at a runner,

looking to make a hit. When you have three or four runners coming

at different angles you have to make a decision. More often than

not, if the scrum have picks the right man, they will get a cross

the gain-line. That is happening condition. Better than in a Stade

de France last week! moving across the field to find a

better area to scrummage. You cannot have that at that level of

rugby. A better scrum by the Dragons. Driving up, says the

referee. A tough call. Not an early again. The scrum opens up much of

the entire field for the back line. It is virtually man against man

behind. Some imagination might create a bit of space. You have got

all that space to play with, look at it. Duncan Weir, Mark Bennett,

they look impressive. If they play flat from the scrum, then

as that from Alex Dunbar. -- it is as simple as that. The Dragons have

conceded, they attacked from depth, it was easy in the end for Dunbar.

A wide pass. Jonathan Evans could have come across a bit quicker. In

some ways, someone has to take that inside man and because of the way

the scrum was, look at the way that Nic Cudd is already behind the

scrum. A lot of work to do there and make a significant tackle which

he would have to do. Good play by Glasgow. Again, they have got the

scrum right, the delivery from Prygos correct, the flat ball from

Duncan Weir. Well-executed move and a simple try in the end. It is wide.

Simple, difficult to defend them. When it is done as well as Glasgow

can do it. When they get the scrum as correctly as they did. They took

the Dragons back row completely out of bed. When they met up in Glasgow

in November, it was five tries to none to the home team. And already

just before the end of the first half, Glasgow have got three

something to really stir them in the changing room in a minute or so.

Because it has been pretty much one-way traffic. It has. The better

side are winning by a margin at the moment that they probably deserve.

They have done far better with the ball in hand. You have got to keep

the ball and I think that will be the biggest question that Darren

Edwards will throw at his players. If you keep the ball long enough,

do not keep giving them the opportunity to come back at you.

come to an end quickly enough for bring an end to the end of the

first half? That will be it for the first half. The first half were the

Dragons have the first. And pretty much nothing else as Glasgow grew

in confidence and stature and cut three converted tries to make it a

very difficult second half indeed to face the Dragons. Already within

one try and the bonus point, and the Dragons have an awful lot of

work to do to regrew because at half-time, it is Dragons three,

struck fast with a Tom Prydie penalty but that would be the only

point they would score which was pretty much all Glasgow's. Fleeter

of foot there and some strength before that and what looked like a

poor kick from Henry Prygos but then became a wonderful. A killer

blow here as well, 27-3 is the half-time score to Glasgow. Look at

handling errors, conditions are not ideal and the pitch is cutting up

but they have had more than their fair share but Glasgow have played

with more momentum and are well worthy of that lead. Yes, this is

not an easy place to come and get a win. They have got a great balance,

They have caused a lot of problems. The Dragons have missed nine

tackles and they always put themselves under pressure. Glasgow

look like they meant business from the first whistle and then they had

gone off into the lead. Yes, playing against a good side but you

have got reset quickly in defence, B Sharpe and Orphic and the Dragons

are not at the races, quite frankly. It is a pressured Clare up -- you

in early to Ryan Wilson. The missed tackle comes here that encourages

Jack Dixon at 12 to come in and make the rescue tackle and that

creates a bit of an offload feed and they are away. That does the

damage and when they get the ball recycled under the post, Dan Evans

goes for the outside shoulder and that is just too easy. Again, this

is a slow ball. Had to get across the gain-line, not putting an

effective tackle in. This father, Lewis Evans, too slow to react and

fill in on the short side. Again, they are in behind the home defence.

The rest becomes easier then because they are on the front foot.

The two fullback and the winger will be disappointed about their

position here. They do not react to the space. The kick is fortuitous

with the bounce but they should do better with that. And Glasgow

deserved their luck. Martin, you mentioned it, defensive lapses are

both leading to those two tries. Was it more the lapses of rather

than the Glasgow enterprise? bounce of the ball could go

anywhere and at the start of the game, the Dragons had two charged

downs. If they put those up in a different game, it would be

different but Glasgow have been very impressive. The Darren Edwards

in the first half a talking about the Dragons building a school...

When you concede a try on the first phase, it is always disappointing.

Jonathan Evans has been caught in the headlines a bit. There is no

way that Nic Cudd will get over from the flank and tackle the

centre, a great line, he has run hard but he will be very

disappointed there. A simple cut to the posts. The retort about the

Battle of the back rows, a few youngsters in the Dragons back row.

Lot of people who have made names for themselves, the likes of John

Barclay and time and again in the first half, when the Dragons are in

possession, Glasgow slowing the ball down, disrupting it. They have

had the quality of the ball they have had, the Dragons. Not only the

back row, the loose-head has got a couple of turnovers. A few

occasions when they Dragons have had overlaps, but then it only

takes a split second, and then they turn them over in the 22. Glasgow

are efficient and Rob mentioned it in the commentary, some really

quick balls picking the balls from Prygos, that is the way it is.

Sean, a massive mountain to climb, what do you say to your players?

You need to inspire them but when you have been in the 22 twice, they

have not got much possession, it is about getting the next go. Forwards

need to be going, they need to get forward. Pretty simple but

inspiring message is that they need to instil to get the next score.

has been working with the Scarlets in a consultancy capacity and give

us an impression of what it was like doing that. I did not sign up

for that, I can tell you! Getting the tracksuit back on, trying to

mentor some of the young coaches, they have got a good group of young

players and coaches and some of those, it is extremely important,

four very important Pro 12 marches where experience can be picked up

and points, and some of the young players, it is about keeping the

bubble and squeak going in the week, keeping the morale and motivation

up because they have got big games and big points, and Munster

tomorrow for the Scarlets, and that is a big game. Yes, very big game.

sure Holly. I have been helping Simon and down and it reminds me of

when I started regional coaching and we have got lots of hard work

they are doing down there so the future is bright in Scarlet land

Dunbar with more power and drive Mark Bennett who has got the foot

work and perhaps possibly more vision, they had been excellent

today and have created so much. That will have heard, just on the

hour mark because the Dragons who have played the better of the

second half, most of the possession of the territory but defending like

that will cost you dearly and Glasgow will go away with all five

points. The dragon forwards coach, a bad night at the office, we can

see that, how do you go about motivating the boys and playing his

final minutes? It is so disappointed, we have come off

second best in too many areas of this game. Glasgow had been very

accurate and have got the tries for it and our boys at the moment are

making too many individual errors which is making the collective look

very disorganised which is disappointed. We need them to raise

themselves individually and show our supporters here that we want to

put on a performance for them. the end of the day, Defence have

got to make tackles. You saw that it just then. When somebody

individually misses a tackle, it lets the whole defence line back.

Brilliant bit of skill by Dan Evans. Nobody close enough and then looks

to the miracle ball and finds the touch-line. That probably sums up

their night. Individual mistakes. There have been some sparks or

there. Some players who have stepped up to the mark but too many

times they have done the good thing and then spoiled it with a bad

thing. Dan Evans, lovely kick, controlled, took it and when he

accepted the tackle, he looked for the support players but that just

sums up the Dragons' evening, unfortunately. Yes, a flash of

promise and then crumbling and really, they need to be building.

Looking at Prygos, he was excellent when he was on. Matawalu in now.

Always on the front foot but the Harries got a hand to it. Pressure

coming on Hallam Amos. Nic Cudd has is the same again, a flash of

brilliance, but not being able to pick enough phases of play together

to build anything decent. They created a bit more, they got on the

front foot a bit more, they made a half break. Again, Dan Evans, just

a simple pass inside that goes astray. It is the pass more than

the take there. He has done a lot of good things, he always does, but

it is just the consistency in his game generally and indeed Dragons'

aimed tonight. It has not been consistent enough. -- Dragons' Dane

denied. I just caught a glimpse of Nic Cudd getting a fresh bandage

around his head. It has been a battling performance from Phil --

from him. A yes, it has. This is poor,

defensively. He did well, he ran hard, and you would expect him to

be taken by one of the three defenders there. It is a shame for

Cudd, he has been excellent, a real what course. He does at the dirty

work in the tackle area. He has he is a very quiet man. He was down

at the Scarlets when I was there, he does not see a lot, he does his

work on the field. He is certainly in the nitty gritty of the tackle

area. Ball on the ground, old- fashioned, he is prepared to put

his body on the line. replacement being used up. That is

Gerwyn Price of Cross Keys. Making his second appearance in a Glasgow

shirt. He has played with and against most of this team Mike team.

The other replacement is an interesting one. -- most of this

Dragons team. Ed Calman was not sure if he was

going to come down or not, because his wife was just about to go into

labour. Had she done so, he would not be here. The if she does, he is

not going to get back in time, is not's lead. Another try for Glasgow,

they are coming thick and fast and easy as you like. Glasgow came on,

and the Dragons crumbled again. They have five or pin Glasgow, five

in the Rodney Parade. -- up in Glasgow. They just demolished the

Dragons pact there. So well- controlled, ball constantly at the

back, staying on their feet, again a well worked, well orchestrated

try from the forwards. It has nudged just been about the backs,

it has been a real team performance from Glasgow this evening. -- it

has not just been about the backs. To come here and get five tries

with 15 minutes still to go and play the way they have, and put

their bodies on the line, really, defensively they have works so hard,

attacking the have created so much, each and every one of them.

Duncan Weir and see yet another conversion, takes Glasgow over 40

point. -- adds yet another conversion. As it stands, this were

booed -- will be their biggest ever victory against the Dragons in the

league. Duncan Weir has done his work for the night. He has gone off,

he has certainly been instrumental in the play. He has made things

happen. His distribution has been good, he is taking has been good,

tactically he has brought Dunbar into play so often, creating space

wide. Ahead down charge comes from Fainga'anuku. Barclay steps into

the gap and it is a hammering now for the Dragons. It looks as if

they team Mike Catt have just gone. How simple is this? -- it looks

like the Dragons have just gone. Bennett comes in, even under

pressure get the pass away. He almost went there on his own. I

don't think he could have put that pass away, but he just kept the

ball, the drive, the power, they are still cleaning out and

time he has got his hands on the ball. But the Dragons need to keep

their heads up, otherwise it is quite embarrassing now. There is

I don't think anyone would have been expecting this. It is a young

side, players that will learn from experience is like this. But you

sort of expect a little bit more. It certainly is a very, very young

-- of experience to learn from. -- tough experience. This is the kind

of form that has taken Glasgow to second in the league. They do look

a confident team, and a very well organised team, they know what they

want to do and how they are going to do it.

Over the last couple of years they have really build a side. Aside

that has constantly pressurised at the top teams, even in the Heineken

Cup. Gregor Townsend has come in and added a little bit to them in

terms of spark. They're certainly a confident side. The Dragons, on the

other hand, are so pedestrian, so up, you cannot just pass that on,

it is too slow, too cumbersome. Take it up, try and stay on your

sometimes have to look at performances, when you have had a

bad day at the office you have to push it aside and move on. For Dan

Evans, this is one of them. They have taken nothing at all away from

waiting that could yet be on. That was a definite chance for Glasgow.

Look at the build up in the first place. This man has got better and

better, Matawalu. Great work initially. He has been fantastic,

he has moved to nine, he has been involved constantly. Mark Bennett

has spoken so highly of him for most of the afternoon that was a

bad decision. He had three men inside and, 30 yards de Gaulle, two

looked equally at home at. Or scrum-half, at Niko Matawalu. -- at

home or at scrum-half. That is a Sean Holley lookalike!

out to be. -- What a rout. It is difficult to put into words what is

happening at the moment. I have never seen a side disintegrate the

way that the team might have. To do it at home, as well. This is always

one of the toughest places to come because you know you are always in

two -- in for a battle against a side that never-say-die.

tonight, a couple more to add to that, and Tim Swinson will remember

his visit to Rodney Parade. The Dragons will want to forget there's.

-- this. The Orkney -- only thing the Rodney Parade faithful have to

cheer about is that they have missed a relatively simple

conversion. That sums up and ate in an evening totally dominated by

Glasgow. It is disappointing. It is quite sad to see the way they have

fallen apart, really. Missing simple tackles, not committing

themselves. Again, you would never see that from Newport Gwent Dragons

side. Again, he does enough to get the

pass inside. Matawalu come Again prop income and

again finding Josh Strauss. He handed off to a defender. Johnny

enough now for the Dragons. They are suffering. You are expecting

more. Matawalu with the chip over the top.

Will Harries, he could not control it or else it would have been

another. Tries are at reining in from

everywhere, and we have a chance to pick a man of -- we have quite a

job to pick a man of the match out of the Glasgow team.

Both midfield players, Mark Bennett and Dunbar in particular has been

excellent, but my man of the match has gone to, and guide who has gone

from one go to scrum-half, Niko Matawalu. He has been excellent in

everything he has done, incredibly quick and sharp, his ability to

keep the ball alive, he has got a try, he has gone to scrum-half and

deliver ball quickly, and kept Glasgow going forward constantly.

He is my man of the match. He he has appeared a couple of times in

the second half when he has been playing scrum-half.

There are up -- there is a number of Glasgow players that could have

won that accolade, but he has stood out. He has been involved

constantly and been an impressive figure.

He has been keeping them on the boot. That is a great kick. Dan

Evans has done quite a few good things tonight. Each time he

doesn't one, something else goes wrong. -- each time he does one.

The player whose boot came off, he is quite happy to carry on in his

sock now. He drove forward... The boot came flying about 30 metres.

He needs to tie his laces a bit the middle of that with just one

added the likes of Strauss and one more man to beat. Scott White

and has he got a bit -- Dunbar is clean through. Aid has been an

abysmal night for the Dragons. -- no? Ballade will make the final

the the Dragons know that was an awful night at the office. Eight

tries for Glasgow. penalty early on with the first

points of the game but then it became one-way traffic. Three tries

in the first half, five more in the second and an absolute thumping for

and truly opened with Taylor Paris taking advantage of some woeful

defending going over first in the second half. Glasgow's dominance

and we certainly got more momentum going and we talk all week about

how tough this fixture would be. Dragons have been playing well and

the boys stepped up excellently today. I know you do not like

criticising other teams but what were the fault of the Dragons?

obviously plays our best game this season and when you do go down

around four tries, it is tough because you are trying to force

things and we played our best game and that is all I can save. We

Pratt well and the Dragons are playing a tough team that work hard

for each other and I am sure it is just a bad night -- we are prepared

well. Well done. Martin, you and I were virtually speechless. That is

the worst defeat the Dragons have had here at Rodney Parade. For a

home defeat, that is absolutely shocking. Yes, pick the bones out

of that one! They have been in good form, they played well against

Treviso and Wasps. But for as well as Gregor is saying, Glasgow played

well, the Dragons were shocking. Sometimes you play against sides

and you know they are better but the manner in which they lost, the

errors and missed tackles, they it was shocking. Sean Holley, that was

the manner in which they almost seemed to give up. Pretty painful,

watching. I have been on the receiving end of some pretty bad

beatings but let's not take too much away from Glasgow, exceptional

performance and they clearly mean performance and they clearly mean

business. Two tries in the second half we will look at. Defensive

structure is fine. The winners inside are fine but they missed the

tackle. They have a contingency. 12 leads we go through without

noticing him. The contingency, they must make the tackle and they just

don't. A confident side with its set pieces, they were dominant up

front or might. Beneath the penalty, kicking it to the corner and they

have the application to know they can build. They showed some

enterprise in the second half, cutting loose, offloading and play

with confidence. Always around three white shirts and support.

Matawalu played very well, adding impetus off the bench. They

provided the offloads and then the scores came in abundance. Glasgow

have announced they are here in this Pro 12 now, the top boys at

this must know that Glasgow mean business. No doubt, they are

certainly tight contenders. Dragons have gone back into the dressing

rooms and we will not hear from them just yet. But they will steal

How good was that performance? usual, first I want to thank the

and it looks like they will extend their lead at the top. Edinburgh

are 16-14 ahead against Blues and Connacht currently 16-7 against

Very briefly, it has been a shocking night for the Dragons. put

this into context, a sign of deeper problems or putting it into

context? The form up until tonight had not been bad but do come back
