Some time around the middle of the 16th century long before the onset

of regional rugby, long before rugby was even conceived of, a

mathematician from Tenby was busy inventing a symbol to explain the

he was around today, he'd doubtless be intrigued by this race, five

contenders and bitter rivals, the Scarlets and Ospreys are battling

each other for the fifth place, equal on points, equal on matches

and games won, all that separates them is points difference. Robert

Scarlets need plus points tonight. The equation is simple. They need

to win to stay in the race. Here he comes. He's clear. The opponents

tonight are league leaders Glasgow. All men are born equal according to

George Orwell, but some are more equal than others. Who will be the

The big news in this part of the world is George's departure for

Northampton. It is confirmed he will be playing in England next

year. News to counter that, the Scarlets are confident they're

going to secure the signature of Scott Williams. It was thought he

might have been following George North out the door but he's about

to put pen to paper, fingers crossed on that. As we mentioned in

the introduction there, an interesting dynamic, the two games

battling for the fourth spot. I imagine you're a Glasgow fan.

makes it interesting. Certainly, if Glasgow did the job tonight, it

would - not take a bit of pressure off us but give us an even better

run at it with two tough away Games, but I am sure the Scarlets would

have something to say about that. It's certainly added a dynamic

and with two games away as well, they put themselves in a position -

looking to make a mark? Williams is a stand-in for Wales

and the Scarlets coming off the bench, but I am sure Ken will want

to nail down the sport and he's a fantastic rugby player, so it's a

big game for him tonight against what is a strong Glasgow front row.

What about you? Any duels you're looking forward to? Phil John

against Moray Low. Samson Lee, a young lad - always nice to see a

young tight-end. He's proving himself week, in week out as well

as Shingler and Ken Owens -- Kinnock. You have coached this

Glasgow side many times over the year, but they really seem to have

upped the pace. Is this the best Glasgow we have ever seen? If so,

why? Yes, it is. The Scarlets must be at their best tonight to beat

Glasgow. They have had an awe attack in flair. They're in the top

five at the moment but as Wales have shown you have to have a solid

defence to win championships. This is an area they have really

improved in. They're far more bold now. Look at their off-the-line

from last week. They tackle Munn centre far past the game line and

create the territory they need. It puts the pressure on the attacking

team. They're not overcommitting at the tackle area - look, just one

blue shirt and the other blue Glasgow shirts - a former defensive

line to allow them to blitz again. This time it's on the inside.

Barclay is on form. Watch out for him tonight. The guy on everybody's

lips is Stuart Hogg, a full-back. He's got searing pace and a lot of

confidence at the moment. Isn't it lovely to see a full-back scoring

tries backing himself in the outside channels? He did it for his

country in the Six Nations. We have tracked him here. He's got no right,

but leaves people for dead. This is Toby Flood covering him. He shows

his skill and scores a great try. Against Italy sniffs out another

interception and goes over the line. Is he on Warren Gatland's mind? He

clubs explaining to them why it was in their view talks broke down

between the two parties They say the regions reneged on the terms of

reference for the board that was set up to help run professional

rugby in Wales. They say the regions wanted far more say than

they were willing to allow them on the future of Welsh rugby including

having a say in the appointment of the next Welsh coach. The regions

have responded this region saying that's not the case. They don't

want those powers. They don't necessarily want to have a say in

who the next Welsh coach will be and repeated their call for an

independent arbitrator to come in and sort this out once and for all.

I think that's what we all want. Welsh rugby fans are getting sick

of this back and forth, back and forth. Why can't the parties get

around the table and do this face face? That would be nice, would be

nice if they could cut it up, agree to disagree on certain things

because nobody wants to pick up the papers every week and read about

another row or squabble that's going on. As a player, we have to

try to hang in there, keep our heads down. The moment you stick

your head up and make any statements about that stray bullets

will have you. It is frustrating, but we're hoping they can get

around the table and do what's best for everyone. Very diplomatic.

We'll keep our fingers crossed. George North is one player who is

staying. Reiss Priestland is down with Phil Steele. Must have done

well last week on the water because they have reemployed him this week.

and feel good in the way I am playing. I would love to play for

the Scarlets because I think as a group of boys we have been close

the last couple of years and not quite got there. This year I think

we have potential and would get. There I would love to be part of

that. Has it been therapeutic for you? It's been good. I never wish

to rupture my Achilles again but it has been nice and good to get the

rest of my body feeling good as well. I am looking forward to

playing again. How sad is it to lose George North? Yes, especially

his home club, the Scarletss, but it's nothing to do with me. It's

between George and his home team, the Scarlets. It's a shame but not
