return to the top four and the Dragons need to do them a favour by

defeating Ulster. This is why it is important... A dogfight to fourth

Welcome to Scrum V Live from a balmy Parc y Scarlets. The summer

wardrobe! The weather is great, the conditions are perfect and the

internationals are back. Will they look for one? I hope so. A lovely

night. The picture looks fantastic. They need to go out and win the next

few games. Nice to see some of the International is back, especially

Liam Williams and Jonathan Davies, a strong back line with Rhys Patchell

back as well. Up front, the young front five, Samson Lee returns, will

they win enough ball to combat a big and physical Edinburgh pack?

Hopefully they'll banish the memories of their last outing where

they got a spanking from Leinster. A rare defeat, 12 of 14 they have one,

consistency is important. Yes, especially with the international

players having been away. 82% plus success rate so that consistency is

there and with the internationals coming back, it will strengthen them

further and hopefully they can keep the momentum because sometimes when

players win away and come back it is not easy to get the momentum. It

will be a challenge but they are doing well on good form. Talking of

players being away, Rhys Patchell is back after three months on the

sidelines, straight back, a big call. Yes, Scarlets are running out

of time, Ulster fighting for fourth. Rhys Patchell has the X factor. Dan

Jones has done well, but Rhys Patchell can get on the front foot.

A very good player and he has shown up well in training, whether he can

get rid of any busty nurse, Pivac is with this. The boys were saying you

need to search for a bonus point so what intent have you got? Yes, we

will be trying to get the bonus point if we can, grey conditions and

hopefully the team can do the job. Rhys Patchell straight in. He has

done a lot of work behind the scenes, he has been good in rehab,

grey shape. A bit of ring rust but hopefully a good 60 minutes out of

As we have seen, a number of internationals are back. On both

sides. And the man he was in charge of Scotland against Wales is in

charge for Edinburgh against Scarlets. John Lacey.

It was a good steel. Scarlets have been worried, no penetration in

those movements. The Edinburgh defence was solid. Benefit of the

doubt. A lot has been said about the other teams playing, what will

happen if they get results. It is immaterial. Scarlets have to win the

next few games with bonus points in those three games. Unless they do

that, I doubt they will finish and qualify in the top four. Get a win

and a bonus point. As it stands, Ulster are in fourth on 57, Scarlets

in fifth on 53. Ulster playing tonight, kick-off is 30 minutes

after this and we will keep you in touch.

What a return for Rhys Patchell, less than three minutes to make his

mark but he can go back and say a big thank you to Hadleigh Parkes.

Beautiful. The Edinburgh defence... Three men for the same player. That

is where the gap opens up. A sprint in. A beautiful piece of play. The

dummy run. He goes outside. Outside centre, the full-back, he has to

mark the winner but the gap, you have to cut out the ball carrier

first of all, closing down. A great turn of pace, that is what this guy

can do. Pins his ears back and is gone!

He may have wanted to ease himself back in after three months out! No

chance. Straight in on the action. A great finish from Rhys Patchell. The

running from over halfway. Still breathing heavily. Just watch, all

of these three have taken the dummy from the dummy runner, watch the gap

open up. He just pins his ears back, three players on the dummy runner.

A lovely finish. John Davies as well, it was not just parks. That

run took out the defenders. Edinburgh have got to communicate in

defence. One dummy runner comes, you nominate him, they were so narrow,

the gap... Rhys Patchell must have thought it was back on a training

run! The first try within four minutes,

five minutes, you have to exploit the lack of communication on the

Edinburgh defence. I watch them warm up, Edinburgh, and they were so

lethargic and looked totally disinterested and they have taken it

into the game. They really need to pick the game up.

A lovely kick butt Scarlets will be happy with that. -- Scarlets will be

happy with that option. He doesn't have to get up!

A wild pass. They did not want to concede a scrum five.

After winning the line-out, Scarlets put themselves back under pressure

as Mata... Wins the penalty. This will be... You see the line-out

again. A quick line-out, goes in, that is it. How that! That is his

audition as scrum-half gone. Edinburgh's first points of the

evening come courtesy of the right boot of Duncan Weir. It is so

difficult to kind of stay on the right side of the law. He thought he

was upon his feet but you have to listen to the referee. We could hear

John Lacey saying release the ball and he didn't. A delicate chip from

Rhys Patchell. Anton Bresler without the help.

There is not much of an atmosphere, slightly flat. Scarlets need to

create an atmosphere. They got the early try which should help.

Mata looking lively in the opening exchanges.

Billy to put some width win it. The Edinburgh defence is narrow. -- they

need to put some width into it. Disappointing the Scarlets because

they took it in. Jamie turned it over and Jimmy Ritchie,...

A good touch finder from Duncan Weir.

That compounds things for Scarlets having lost possession, now they

have to defend the line-out deep inside their own 22. A good kicker,

Duncan Weir. Ross Ford, 107 caps for Scotland. And a Lion as well.

Toolis just got it. As they were trying to recover, Simon Berghan

gave the penalty away. The ball goes in, extremely well. A

little shoulder. That is harsh because everyone goes to the ball.

The line-out has been all over the shop. Lovely hands by Breslin to

Berghan. Very diplomatic. Liam Williams with brilliant work at the

breakdown. A couple of overthrows, scrappy

line-outs. Better, a nice clean line-out.

Hadleigh Parkes winning good yards for his team.

It was a strong carry from the Scarlets captain.

Hadleigh Parkes, a guilty drop goal because he knew he would knock it

on. The -- the passing is not precise enough. It is on the

shoulder or behind the player. Check the whole movement, especially

lovely break from a lovely off-load and then they blew it. They need to

be more precise. This is a lovely off. Takes it in. Such a difference,

great support and the pass again. Unlucky for Shingler, did not catch

it on the run. A little bit more precise, the Scarlets.

That was a good effort from Blair Kinghorn. Chris Dean, narrow

defensive system at the moment by Edinburgh. He has a lot of ground to

cover on his own. They can target him and told him I get on the

outside shoulder, outside centre, that is where the Scarlets should

attack. Everybody checking as they take the

ball. Liam Williams was trying to create something on his own.

Neither side is excelling at the moment.

It is a good maul. They go to ground, watch how slow that is. So

slow and one pass, check. Two passes, check. It is not enough. The

defence is organised. And then you have to check and that, things

should come naturally. You have to put a ball in front of the man to

attack the defender. The ball has to be quicker.

It makes it difficult for themselves to attack the organised Edinburgh

defence. A good drive from the Scarlets

scrum. It was a lovely pick-up by Jonathan

Davies. It just sped away from him. If that

went straight, Steff Evans was in. There might have been a deflection.

Is there? A lovely kick. I think it gets a nudge otherwise a great

chance to get there. How long is advantage these days? Usually until

there is a kick or someone scores. Nothing comes from the kick, the

penalty. I would go for the line-out, go for the try.

I think the speed of the recycling and if you put the ball in front of

them, defenders take it on. Scarlets looking for tries, needing a bonus

point, put the pressure on Ulster for that vital fourth place. And the

play-off spot come the end of the season.

They want to replicate a good driving scrum.

They did not lose their shape at all. Within striking distance! The

try-line! And there is the try. It is Wyn Jones who has got it. The

previous driving line-out was very good. But that was so easy. The

Edinburgh management will be so disappointed how easily the Scarlets

made it. They need to replicate that now. Good field position, total

domination. The number four is offside, get out of the way. An easy

easy passage. One of the easiest tries you will see line-out. Very

well worked. Two tries in the opening quarter for

the Scarlets. Exactly what they will have wanted.

This time Rhys Patchell adds the extras. The Scarlets are up to 12-3.

That is all you need to do after a try. Exit plan or just boot it!

Not looking great for Simon Berghan. The medical team are coming on.

ago tomorrow was the last ever international appearance of this man

Williams. James Davies is straight through for

try number three! Another lovely weighted pass by the Scarlets

skipper. And James Davies the recipient. There we are. Great

The second of the season for James Davies.

Edinboro's defence has look for us. -- Edinboro's defence has looked

porous. Two from 34 Patchell. Again, the

outside of defence. Just run it on. Stop it there. Just watch. It is a

very easy run-in. The outside winger is going out. That is very simple.

It is the one area the Scarlets have to attack, the outside channels of

Edinburgh. At the moment they have no idea of what is going on.

Lovely pass. That is an easy run-in for a Phil Burleigh. Awareness, the

kick charged down, simple ball. Edinburgh get a free gift. He has

atoned for his earlier defensive error. There we are. Low trajectory,

lovely flowed, try. I don't know if that was forward.

But it has been given. A mistake by the Scarlets. Edinburgh have made

the most out of it. It keeps them in the game. They looked almost dead

and buried. Even with quarter of an hour of the first-half remaining.

Just one win in the last 94 Edinburgh. -- in the last nine for

Mac Edinburgh. Four wins all season. They have a new coach next year and

he would have been shouting and bawling over some of the defensive

lapses. That one was forward. It needn't

have been. No. Let's go back to fill. Mark Taylor,

the Scarlets team manager. I was about to say just about the perfect

start until that try. Disappointing. We have played a lot of rugby in the

middle of the field and we have given a gift. It shows we have to be

on the game 100%, otherwise they will hurt us. It is about

refocusing. Hadleigh Parkes was a bit of a conjurer there? Yes. The

entire try was nice. A good build-up. A nice run in as well.

Really happy with that. It's always a bad thing when

somebody scores against you, to be honest.

Hidalgo-Clyne put it out of play. Just outside the 22. I have been

quite impressed with Sam Hidalgo-Clyne. He has good pace

about him. Hidalgo-Clyne has fallen down the

pecking order. It is one position where they have strength in depth.

John Davies watches the bounce. Tom Brown 's stilted. -- Tom Brown

steals it. Rhys Patchell! And the Scarlets have done the job within

half an hour. That is the bonus point Mike Ross safe. A lot of the

work was done by Jonathan Davies. They have watched the videos,

analysed their defensive structures from line-outs. A chip over the top.

Just watch. Jonathan Davies goes in. That is the turnover. Easy run-in.

Good choice of pass. He did all the work there. No way they are going to

stop that try. Some return for Rhys Patchell. He

got the ball rolling. He got the bonus point. 16 points for Rhys

Patchell. More than half of the game left to add to it.

Just to make things worse for Edinburgh, not that it could be much

worse having conceded four tries in less than half an hour, his

expression says it all as he put the ball straight out. Hang it high. If

you have no height on it, you have no chance of your players getting to

the ball. You have no chance at all if it goes straight in. Duncan Hodge

is looking bemused. There is a hand in there. It is a

penalty. Why not just call him a prop? Nobody hoaxer any more. --

hooks. He is allowed to take it out from the back row but not the front

row. It is a little bit like a Hans --

Hench mistake. You should know you can't use your hands in the scrum.

The tackle was high on Tom Brown. Thank you very much. I'll deal with

the captain. The maul is gone to get penalised

for that. The referee has seen something that happened previous to

A penalty against you. We're going to go for the original penalty over

The first knock-on by Edinburgh. This is the penalty. Just watch.

Just watch the number four. Let's have a look. He is at the back of

the maul. Keep it going. That is pathetic. If we can get a

better at shot of it, it is a contact sport. Come on boys.

Scarlets realising now they have got the bonus point, they need tries,

they need points, because those are the criteria. Points difference,

tries scored, that could make a difference at the end of the season.

That game is about ten minutes old. Ulster have got there first of the

evening. There we are. This is the yellow.

You know... It is just pointless from Anton Bresler. It is pointless.

Shingler made the most of it -- Shingler didn't make the most of it.

He could have gone down. Penalty. Silly play.

The Scarlets look to end the first half. Slips out. Back in two

Edinburgh hands. -- into. Davies using his strength. Jonathan

Davies needs to perform at his original level, because there are a

Lions places at stake. If he plays well... Scarlets run out of space.

We hear that Jamie Ritchie is staying off. He has got his head on

the wrong side. The wrong side of the tackle. He just copped it. This

is the tackle. Just watch where his head is. Yeah. The wrong side, kids.

Make sure you put your head on the right side. Hip bones are very, very

hard. Harder than your head. Good take by Steff Evans. He is

hungry. It is always on. Especially at

outside centre and inside centre. There was no communication. There

are short of numbers. -- there is no communication. They are short of

numbers. There are huge gaps. This should be the final line-out of

the half. But after Paris, it is dangerous to say that! And about 3

million scrums! That will be that. And the Scarlets will be pretty

satisfied with their first 40. Four tries and a bonus point in the bag.

26-10. Well done in the first half. You got the bonus point. What is the

plan for the second half? More of the same. Probably stay down there a

little bit more. Some card tricks in the changing room? You had the hand

going first half. No! It makes our job is a lot easier. Cheers. The

ever modest Hadleigh Parkes. If we thought Rhys Patchell was going to

be rusty, he proved any doubters wrong. What an opening for the man

returning after three months on the sidelines. The Scarlets looked like

a well oiled machine. Wyn Jones on the receiving end of that. With just

half an hour on the clock, before that, Phil Burleigh got one back. A

soft try. But with half an hour on the clock, Patchell with his second.

16 points altogether for the young man.

Scarlets have got a bonus point in the bank before the second half. We

said they would go looking for it. I don't think any of us imagine they

would have before half-time? No. So good as they have. They have played

with enterprise, pace, there is good great and technical work upfront.

The backs are playing very fast. I guess it makes the half-time team

talk easier, does it? A great start. The forwards have laid the platform

and the backs of totally capitalised. They have dominated

Edinburgh. I am sure the coaches will want more of the same. They

will want to try to get as many points as possible. Pivac admitted

it was a gamble to throw Patchell back in. But on that evidence he is

ready? He is ready. He is looking fit and sharp.

He has done his work. What a start. Look at John Davies's run. It should

be defended. This defenders should slip off and have an high on

Patchell. They all jumped in. Watch Johnny McNicholl. I love this. At

the last minute he changes his angle. Cuts across Kinghorn. That

allows Patchell in for the try. It is a lovely try. He has got gas. We

have seen it when he tracks back in defence. A clean pair of heels to

get over so rarely. Part of a three quarters line that is pouring

already this evening. The pack are doing the grunt work as well. That

is one area where Edinburgh felt they might have fancied themselves.

Looking like a well oiled machine, the Scarlets line-out?

Yes. The line-out early on was dodgy. They sorted it out. The scrum

is very tight. The front five is good. Shingler is a great line-out

forward. They get the ball to be back very quickly by good living and

Goodspeed in the air to the ground. Then people are working. -- good

leaping and good speed. It is a great ball. They are working hard in

front of the ball, which is the most important thing for a line-out. They

are keeping their spines in line. Samson keeps hold of the ball. It is

a great controlled upfront forward platform for the Scarlets, which is

giving the backs the opportunity to run riot. They are getting those

opportunities all night. It is the speed of the ball that is forcing

Adam Brown to be back foot? It is a feature of traditional Scarlets

play. They are all on the same hymn sheet. Look how quick this ball is.

Good platform from Aled Davies. Aled Davies is having an armchair ride.

It allows Patchell to come onto the ball. A clear pass. Aled Davies can

get away quickly. It results in this. Look how close Patchell takes

the ball to the line. Parkes plays as a second receiver. It is a Parkes

show again. He rocks into position. A little slip bowl for James Davies

to get over. Parkes is instrumental but it is the speed of the ball that

is significant. Edinburgh not doing themselves any favours. Their

defence has looked woefully disorganised? It is very difficult.

The ball carrier, when he hits the floor, he has got the secondary

movement, which is making it very difficult for Edinburgh. Then the

ball is coming quickly. What I like about the support line of the

Scarlets players, is fantastic. They are looking for the holy Mac. --

they are looking for the hole. They have scored some fantastic

tries. It is all part of the Scarlets way of playing. They always

look to play with width and ambition. We saw some examples of

Hadleigh Parkes. You can only play with width if you're passing is

accurate. We mention him a lot when we come down here. They

ball-carrier, good defence. Using him as a second receiver denied. Big

strong centre. What I like about him is that he is a bit of a leader. On

and off the field he clearly has an influence. His distribution has been

excellent. He is involved in all parts of the game. Penalised for a

high tackle. The last pass for Patchell was sublime. He is a big

player. You sent Scarlets are beginning to shift through the gears

when it comes. We have five rounds of Pro12 action to come. None bigger

than the one coming in are few weeks.

Judgment Day is nearly here. Four regions, one M. One of the most

anticipated days in the calendar. We will be at the heart of it all. But

before the Battle of Wales, a battle of skills. Who came out on top? All

Tickets selling really well. 40,000 at the last count. A big rugby story

this week. It will not have escaped your notice that the Dragons have

signalled their intention to take over the Dragons -- VWF you. Quite a

few questions that remain unanswered.

The issue of the name has been an albatross around your neck. With

names a sensitive issue, will it simply be the Dragons? Albatross

around your neck, elephant in the room, call it what you like. No

matter what you are announcing, the first question is always allowed the

name. That demonstrates that it has never been dealt with to anyone's

satisfaction. We have a hybrid working for nobody. It is a

mouthful. I have always said of the time for addressing that

definitively is when we enter this new chapter. If we can get this over

the line, I'm sure we will deal with it then and we will discuss it.

Stuart Davies, the chief executive of the Dragons. Getting it over the

line involves overcoming one significant hurdle, persuading 75%

at least of the shareholders at Newport RFC to sell the ground,

allowing for the takeover. That is yet to come. It will be a big

obstacle. The language at the press conference in the week when it was

announced was very stark. The message seemed to be this was an

ultimatum. If you don't sell, there will be no more professional rugby

in Gwent? Yes, and you can see that is going to be the case. If the vote

doesn't go the right way for the union and for Dragons, you will have

the status quo. We all know what happened in the last ten years. It

is all negative news of late that has come out Rodney Parade. There

has to be a change if they are going to move up the table. Is there a

danger, particularly from the point of view of the other regions, that

what is happening may be seen as rewarding failure? I don't think so.

The Gwent region is a massive region. 70 odd clubs. I think they

are protecting the game in Wales. We need to develop players. We need to

develop our numbers as well. We can't afford to go down to three

regions. We need to go to five. I think the WIA are the custodians of

the game in words and they are doing what is best for watch rugby.

The Dragons players have games to play, they are in action this

evening. Craig Gilroy scored the only try of the games so far for

Ulster. A 7-0 lead. Dragons came back with a penalty. You can see the

highlights of that and we will discuss the Dragons in more depth on

Sunday. Interestingly, we will bring you the action from a match taking

place tomorrow. Shane Williams is in the match day squad. He is looking

forward to putting his boots back on. A big game tomorrow... The

Ospreys with the opportunity to go ahead if they beat Treviso. We had

the news this week, a couple of days ago Alun Wyn Jones is out for six

weeks after injury in the French game. Bad news for the Ospreys with

big European games and Pro12 games to come but potentially good news

for the Lions. He does not like taking breasts! It is like Tovey

Fallon et al, but they will miss Alun Wyn Jones. That is the game,

they have got strength in depth, the Ospreys. A big game, you can watch

that on S4 see tomorrow. Ospreys against Treviso. The teams are back

out. It is not yet job done. They need to be beware of Edinburgh. Yes,

they need to win the game. They have a tries but they need to make sure

they close the game out, start again, get the platform going and

get the quick ball moving from the ruck. Here come Edinburgh. Scarlets

are all ready out a waiting kick-off for the second half. We can return

to the commentary team. As both teams make it out onto the

field, no changes from the first half. Fihaki came on before the

interval in number 20. Edinburgh start with one man short, number 14.

WHISTLE BLOWS Apart from that gifted tried to Phil

Bailey, Edinburgh were not in the game. Very poor. They seem to be

hanging on -- Phil Burleigh. They like to build pressure, go to

the phases and score more tries, Edinburgh.

John Lacey apologising for not giving the Scarlets even more of an

advantage. First attacking opportunity, an

early mistake by Edinburgh. And again, you have to target centre

partnership of Edinburgh. On a performance so far, they do not seem

to be comfortable. All international front row for

Duncan Weir had no choice than clear the lines. Plenty of time for Johnny

McNicholl. Plenty of support. A couple of men over, Scarlets, got

the bonus point, the loose of the game gets, the better they look. --

looser. The Scarlets, as a team, only had to make 23 tackles in the

first half. That says everything! They have not been under pressure at

all. 52 by Edinburgh, 74% possession with Scarlets.

Johnny McNicholl has settled down in full-back the Scarlets.

Six in a row over him. Must be to do with the fact Liam Williams will not

be here next year. I can understand they need stability and looking for

next year but, for me, we still have this season. Liam Williams is the

best should be playing. A poor pass with Hadleigh Parkes. Great take,

Liam Williams. The second scrum of the evening for

Edinburgh. Sometimes I question what they do,

day-to-day! Professional rugby players.

Oh, dear me. Well, again, Steff Evans set up beautifully and from

that position, wide-open spaces, the result should be much much better.

Look at this. It is beyond belief. That is the mistake Scarlets turn

and go, Steff Evans is a great job, spots the prop, hands to the tackle

and this is bread-and-butter stuff. I have to say, I think the

scrum-half has overrun that. You can blame Jonathan Davies for poor

execution of tackle but you have to hold your run. You have to hold your

run. And it will be one of the finer

contributions as Gareth Davies warms up.

meantime, a couple of weeks. There are big in a sense Scarlets have to

win them. As a player, having not played for three months, I would not

want to be taken off after 50 minutes. Just saying! Fair enough.

It was very slow process -- progress from Edinburgh. They win the

penalty, the best they can expect. They have offered very little in

attack apart from Phil Burleigh. It is a poor performance by Edinburgh.

They looked lethargic in the warm up. Not much edge to them. There is

not much to play for but as a professional player, you are paid to

perform, they are very lax. He will be happy with a 50 minutes

he had. Tadhg Beirne knocked it on. Nowhere

near the control Scarlets showed when they had Wyn Jones inside the

first half. Changes for Edinburgh. Stuart

Again judged high by Parkes. He has to be careful of those. He has gone

for the wrap around the shoulders. He was pinged once the half. Duncan

Weir takes Edinburgh back into the Scarlets have. Let's hear the

thoughts of Phil Davies. The Scarlets looking to try to

maintain their momentum from the first half into the second half.

That hasn't quite happened. In fairness to Edinburgh, they play the

game in the right areas. They have slowed the game down and kept more

control of it. They have dominated the field position. Hopefully in the

last quarter, they can bring more momentum back to the game, like they

had in the first half. After having 73% of the possession

in the first-half, it is far more equal overall now. Edinburgh have

enjoyed more ball in hand in the second half. They have been better

defensively, haven't they? Their catch and drive hasn't been great

the last ten minutes. He has had its fair share of

injuries. He has done well since he has come on. Hang on. Trouble with

his shoes! Anything could happen. There we are. Lovely supporting run.

Gareth Davies just overran it. He is conscious of the touchline. He does

well to keep the ball in play. A couple of times he has linked well.

Sensibly hanging on. He has. Very good strength in depth in that

position. In a good position with the hawkers. -- hookers.

The final ten minutes. The score as it was at half-time. We need some

excitement to bring the crowds back. They are getting smashed,

unfortunately. The ball is slow. They are on the back foot. Not

getting over the gain line. Rob Evans, fresh from international

duty, on to replace Wyn Jones. It feels a long, long time ago that Wyn

Jones got the second of four Scarlets tries.

Jonathan Davies has spotted well in defence tonight. Again Nathan Fowles

quite happy to put the ball downfield.

James Davies is in a bit of trouble on the far side of the field.

Scarlets' winning run is going to continue. It will take them into the

top four for a while. They will go back above Ulster, at least for half

an hour tonight. Lewis Rawlins preferred to John

Barclay, the Scottish captain. Can the Scarlets finish on a high? A

few little touches suggesting there is more to come. A very scrappy

period of play from both teams. Edinburgh have increased their

effort in the second period as well. Never really coming close.

He has certainly done everything asked of him in terms of giving

Scarlets position. He has kicked very well for position.

well met by the Fihaki. The Scarlets picket up towards the

second half. Who is your mathematically macro After 50

minutes it was Rhys Patchell, then he was taken off. I think Hadleigh

Parkes has just done everything well. Instrumental in both tries.

Defensively solid. For me, Hadleigh Parkes, the Scarlets captain, is my

Guinness Pro12 man of the match tonight. Yeah, he had a hand in a

couple of those tries early doors for the Scarlets.

Scarlets reasserting their dominance in the latter stages after going off

the boil, really. The Dragons have got a try back. It is ten points

apiece. Is that stays like that, or the Dragons can just sneak

something, it would be a huge benefit to the Scarlets. When you

look at the running, Scarlets at home to Treviso, Dragons on Judgment

Day, I waited to Connacht. Scarlets home to the Blues and away to

Munster and the Ospreys, home to Leinster. A tough run-in. If the

Dragons can sneak that tonight, that would be a huge result. A huge

result for Scarlets. Even though Edinburgh have only lost

one of the last five games to Scarlets, the run is going to come

to an end. McNicol is easy to deal with. A mistake from Hadleigh Parkes

after winning man of the match. He wasn't quite expecting the pass from

Johnny McNicholl. He is on the field though, is indy? He should be

expecting a pass. True. See... 80 minutes up on the clock. The game is

dying a slow death in the second half. It is going to be another long

journey home for Edinburgh. One win in ten for them. As they languish

down in ninth position, Treviso back in the top four. They will be

looking to stay there towards the end of the season.

Christine, as Edinburgh go through the last motions. -- Chris Dean. No

with roofer Nathan Fowles. -- no way through for Nathan Fowles. Holding

back. The penalty goes the way of Scarlets. They don't need any more

from this fixture. The job has been done. Yes, kick it into touch. So

often we see both teams carrying on way past 80 minutes but they don't

need to on this occasion. Nothing to be gained. Dan Jones puts the ball

off the park. No point whatsoever in the second 40. The Scarlets have

done the job. Successful return for a Rhys Patchell. They secure the

bonus point. The Scarlets still hopeful of finishing the season in

the top four. 26-10. And this is as things stand. Ulster

and the Dragons currently drawing at Rodney Parade. Half an hour

remaining. The Dragons could do the Scarlets a massive favour if they

deny Ulster a point and Scarlets will therefore leap frog Ulster.

Jonathan Davies had a cracking game in the centre. As Jonathan, his

namesake mentioned in commentary, snuffing out a few Edinburgh

attacks. In the second half, it was literally pointless. Which is

remarkable because we said here at half-time and said, they got the

bonus point after half an hour, we expected an avalanche of tries. What

happened? There aren't many halves of games where we don't have much to

analyse. There wasn't anything in the second half. A lot of mistakes.

A lot of penalties. The job was always -- almost done. Edinburgh

Holst and puffed but weren't very good. It was a routine win. A win is

a win. Hadleigh Parkes joining us. You're making a habit of joining us

after matches. You don't want our job, do you? 1-dayer! We expected an

avalanche of points in the second half. There were literally none.

What happened? A bit frustrating. We played some really good football in

the first half. The second half was disappointing. A win is a win. We

put our best for -- foot forward as well. A huge period coming. The

Dragons are currently 10-10 at Ulster. If they can deny Ulster a

win, that would be great for you guys. Yes. Have you had a word with

them in the week? A couple of our guys over there. It would be really

good for their club to get a bloody good win. They are at home against

Ulster, a top four team. We talked about the first-half performance.

You played a part in quite a few of those tries. Clearly the attacking

game and the width and the ambition as come to fruition? At the start of

the season we were getting a little bit of criticism. The team is

starting to build. I think going forward, hopefully this attacking

game, we can get it going. Two guys each side, makes it easy for the

Week created some opportunities but didn't finish them off. To get four

tries by half-time, the job was done. We said we needed to go on and

score first. It didn't happen. After a few weeks off we were slow to

finish them off. We talked about Rhys Patchell before the game. He

came out of the traps. He was taken off at 50 minutes. Was that

preplanned? How do you go about that decision? He has been out for about

ten weeks. There was always good to be a time limit. He had done four

kilometres by half-time. That is a lot of running. Treviso at home. You

expect to get five from that. Where would that leave you coming towards

the end? We had to wait and see what happens with the other results.

Hopefully some other teams can do is, favours. We have got to maintain

our form. Treviso is our next opponent. Hopefully we can play well

and get a win. Keep going. Ultimately a happy man,

Wayne Pivac, after a bonus point victory over Edinburgh. We were

talking during the second half that old though the Scarlets got sucked

into a slow and grinding game, there were some critical moments when they

still had the edge? Absolutely. You can see Steff Evans getting

back. Patchell over the ball and they get a crucial turnover.

Edinburgh trying to play the percentages in the second half. When

the key moments were there, the Scarlets had the dominance, if you

like, to get the turnovers and to get the big scrum and the penalty.

And just sort of close a very scrappy half out. That is the sign

of a team with confidence, that even when, in a half like that, as

frustrating as it is, you still have the wherewithal and the confidence

to win those crucial moments? Yes. Wayne was not happy. -- Wayne will

be happy. Four tries, no injuries. Europe next week. They can have some

good training weeks and hit the Treviso week running. When the next

couple of games and it is potentially on for him. Ulster are

back into the lead. Bad news for the Dragons and indeed for the Scarlets.

We wondered if the Scarlets would run out of steam at the end of the

season, as happened last year, after spending so much time in the top

four. They seem to have more inner steel? I think so. When you look at

their percentage wins, that has been pretty impressive. But also the

strength in depth of the squad as well. Some of the younger players,

Boyde, Elias, Shingler, they are playing well. Hadleigh Parkes is a

stalled word in the middle of the field. They have got some good

depth. We can show you briefly the Ulster try. Jared Payne was the

scorer. Craig Gilroy got over the line first. Jared Payne making a

remarkable comeback from injury. Back in the Ireland side, back in

the Ulster side, scoring tries. Hopefully more to come from the

Dragons in that game. Before we go, some important games tomorrow, not

least the Ospreys, who could find themselves back on top of the table

if they get a bonus point against Treviso?

Yes, strength in depth is massive. The Ospreys, like Leinster, their

back-up boys are very strong. They get their wings during the crucial

times. Expect them to get a bonus point. -- wins. The RDS is a tough

place to go. Absolutely. The Ospreys have them in their sights. We are
