Good afternoon once again and welcome to another results show.

Longer, stronger and even more absorbing than usual. In the next 80

minutes, we can lose ourselves in the big football on questions like

is the Premiership title race back on two can Dundee United defy the

drop? And is the Championship title race of? The brain power supplied by

the Scotland goalkeeper, Gemma Fay, and Craig Paterson. No pressure.

Great to have you aboard and was a pleasure to hear from our reporters

around the grounds. First up, Chris McLaughlin at the tawdry. -- always

created have been created by the home side. Partick Thistle offering

nothing in attack thus far. They will look to remedy that in the

title aspirations but so far it has not gone to plan. Kevin Colley

moment in time but there is only six points between us and Kilmarnock. We

are going to have to do something to turn it around. St Johnstone, they

have been Freel defensively. What have you made of their performance?

They are mixing it with Aberdeen but if you are on the kind of run that

we're talking about, and you lose Brian Easton and Dave Mackay, it

makes it very difficult for Tommy Wright to compete and end up in the

top six as they have done in the last few seasons. Difficult times

for St Johnstone. When they got the win, I thought they might click on

but another defeat today and the feel-good factor is not around. The

games, very tight. One goal in the mole. The one at Dingwall coming for

Dundee United. Paul Paton again. I know. He stepped up with a shot. A

fantastic volley against Hearts in the last game and he has done it

again for United. They are taking inspiration from what Ross County

did this time last year, our nine-game unbeaten run. It seems

like those words are echoing through the team. I don't know where

Dumbarton are getting information from but they have scored again! --

getting inspiration from. Let's hear from but they have scored again! --

about it. This is absolutely remarkable. 3-0. It was a Calum

Waters corner, headed in at the near post by Darren Barr. Hibs fans can

believe it. The Dumbarton fans are going crazy with the light. -- Hibs

Dundee United. Is it tight? Reasonably so. United have probably

had a decent share of it. United made a change at the interval with

Jonathan Franks coming on to give them more width. United looked very

good early on, in particular when Paul Payton is scored from a well

worked corner. He found the target with a firm downward header nestling

nicely in the back of the net. Not many chances overall. County

struggling to impose themselves up front. But being a bit of the danger

from corners, particularly with Ian McShane putting in some good

deliveries. He has gone off now. Billy Mackay, going very close, just

as the second half started. Scott Fox, scampering back, did not quite

get there and the ball drifted behind. United still in front. It

could be a vital scoreline. Heading to Dens Park, Dundee against

Inverness Caledonian Thistle. It is still one 0 to Inverness and they

deservedly do. They have been rewarded for the quality of their

passing play so far. Very composed on the ball, and the opening ball

came when Jordan Roberts sent a ball right through the defence. -- the

opening goal. The home team were claiming for offside and it has been

difficult for Andrew Dallas, the referee. The Inverness full-back

seemed to kick out at Greg Stewart in the first half. Both players

booked, and that is two of five players booked so far. But Dundee,

they lost Darren O'Dea during half-time, the injury, and they shot

wide a couple of times in the second half. Inverness holding the lead.

Partick Thistle game. The first real bit of quality in this football

beautiful pass for Louis Moult to run onto. And he swept the ball past

Keith Lansley was fouled by Aidan Nesbitt. That was tucked home

comfortably, sending Tomas Cerny the wrong way. In the second half, he

doubled his tally, and he has doubled Motherwell's. Looking good

for three points. Just one goal for Brian McLaughlin to wax lyrical

about in the Kilmarnock game. It is still one 0. The goal after seven

minutes, Jamie Walker scoring with a little bit of controversy regarding

exactly what happened. That was close! Sam Nicholson with the header

off the inside of the post. The ball running alongside the line, before

the Kilmarnock defence. No doubt, it was a penalty kick, going back to

that goal, but the defenders can count themselves lucky. The referee

only give out a yellow card. It was a clear goal-scoring opportunity,

with Prince Buaben pulled down eight yards out. Walker took the spot kick

and it was pushed onto the post by yards out. Walker took the spot kick

Jamie MacDonald but the rebound fell back to Walker and clipped it over

for the only goal of the game. Kilmarnock should have taken the

lead in the opening minutes. Good play by Magennis, playing in Craig

Slater. But he pulled his effort wide. Jimmy McDowell has made some

decent saves in the first half, denying Nicholson. But it is an open

game, very end to end. Another sell-out crowd, 16,354. Charlie Mann

has another goal to describe it in the Falkirk wheel of the South game.

An equaliser? -- Queen of the South. It might be important for Falkirk as

well, because given Dumbarton are losing, Falkirk need to win to close

the gap on Hibernian. Charlie! But is a shame. He was in full flow.

Never mind. We will hear more from him later in show. -- later in the

show. Kenny Crawford, are we hearing you loud and clear? Yes, you are. It

is still 3-0. Quite a remarkable scene here. It was one 0 after 21

minutes through Kevin Colley, who collected a pass to fire home from

about 20 yards. -- it was one 0. It is said that he had a loan spell at

Barcelona when he was younger. I don't think that was true but he

scored a good goal. Then add 42 minutes, it was Christian Nade who

headed in Mark Doherty is Mike Ross and send the home fans wild. And

then there was another former Hearts player, Darren Barr, who got the

third goal, heading in a corner from Callum waters' cross. Unbelievable

to watch. Hard to know whether Dumbarton will throw everything back

into it, although at the moment they are struggling with ideas. Liam

Henderson has scored -- Liam Henderson has scored! A brilliant

shot into the top corner and with about 55 minutes gone, it is game on

because Hibernian and needs to get another two to get a point and

another three to get all three. -- Hibernian needs to get another two.

It is gone a bit chaotic! What do you make of that? With your

knowledge of Hibs through the years, do you think they will come back and

get a point, a remarkable 4-3 win? It would need to be the semifinal

against Falkirk. They came back and won in extra time. I think they will

settle for the extra point. The opening game of the season is not

going well. Falkirk, getting that equaliser, they started the day five

points behind. If Falkirk win, that will only be a two point gap. Very

interesting. Rangers not picking up all three at the moment, so there is

a lot happening at the top of the Championship but not much of it is

good news for Hibs. Motherwell, 2-0 up at home to Partick Thistle. I

think I called this one. I had a feeling the Partick Thistle would

get something out of this game but it shows you the unpredictable

nature of the Premiership. At the moment, anybody can beat anybody. Is

Motherwell hold onto this, they will leapfrog Hamilton and Partick to go

eighth. Dundee United, if they come up, and the score stays the same,

Dundee United will be within touching distance. I put my hands up

and said it would never happen, but stranger things have happened. Lewis

Mould with his 14th of the season, and I think McDonald coming back

into the team has liven things up. It is certainly lively for Inverness

Caley Thistle. They are slowly and steadily getting back into things at

the upper reaches. When they have all their players there, John Hughes

has got them back at the right time, picking up points, with a cup final

to look forward to next weekend, they have just hit form at the right

time and for whatever reason, they have dominated that fixture. I was

looking back and I could only find one Dundee victory in terms of the

lead. Caley Thistle have the Indian sign over Dundee. If you look back

at the two games, there is hope for Dundee yet. Hearts, they have maybe

hit a dip? They lost in the cup and in the league last week to Dundee

United. It was a strange game against Dundee United but Walker

stepped up again. He scored a fantastic goal last week against

Dundee United. But if you were to say the words that somebody looked

quite comfortable in the Premiership, you would probably have

to say that was Hearts. They are sitting in third and I am not sure

they're going to be challenging Aberdeen. But I don't think anybody

will be challenging them for third. But they are steadying the ship with

extensions to contracts. Tynecastle is a fortress. Only three teams have

beaten them recently. As it stands, if United hold on for that win and

beaten them recently. As it stands, Kilmarnock do not pick up anything

today, they are only eight ahead of United. With a game in hand. It is

incredible. Eight points between fourth place and 11th place. You are

looking at Europe and you are also thinking of delegating. But what a

timetable. If you could win two or three games in a row, that is going

to make it difficult for United to bridge the gap, unless they go on a

run and maybe win four or five in a row.

Five games afoot in the Premiership. Last night, Hamilton and Celtic, and

the last time the two met, Celtic won by 8-1. If you don't know how

this ended, I will not spoil it. But look away. Here were the events at

New Douglas Park. Scott Brown has lost the ball.

This is Morris. To Crawford... What a touch!

Crawford scored the winner at Celtic Park for Hamilton a year past

October. He should have done better. The Accies have had their backs to

the ball until now. Too high for Griffiths.

Oh, it's a penalty. What nerves.

What were they thinking about here? Lee Griffiths if anything was going

from the goal. And gift-wrapped Celtic a huge chance to go in front.

Growth itselves 32 so far... Make that 33! One of the great modern day

strikers, the current number nine. He makes no mistake from the spot.

And that could be a big game changer.

Park. A lovely finish from Brophy. That will mean more to him than the

last one at Celtic Park in the 8-1 defeat.

nice built of space. The thoughts of managers the

managers short-term. Celtic started well. Started on the

front foot. Today we managed to ride it out. We

were doing well with the defence. The shape was good. Ali Crawford

expected from the players it was there in abundance. We started well.

Hamilton versus Celtic. 8-1 the last time but a very different match last

night? Very different. Celtic played slightly better. Two

points were dropped but it makes the title race interesting again.

It does, Craig. I had a feeling that the Accies would not lose 8-1 but my

doubts that they would take anything from the game. But they played

fairly well? They did play well. They sorted it out at the back. They

were losing goals. But things are sorted out defensively. Drawing a

lot of games but it is still 0-0. Not conceding goals. They have

struggled with the teams in the top six. They have only beaten Hearts.

That is the difficulty. That result, that performance against Celtic give

the Accies a big lift. There may be a propensity to press

the panic button but after that, it is very conciliatory. It seems to

have worked for them? It seems to have worked. They have been

consistent in draws, five in ten. The fixtures coming up, Motherwell,

Inverness and Partick Thistle, they will have to turn them into three

points. And there has been another goal at

Fir Park. Alastair's cue to fill us in on the

There was the defeat to Morton. You consider Hibs had lost seven

goals in 17 league and Cup ties coming into this at Easter Road to

concede three and quality of the goals that they were losing you

understand the pressure. Morton were excellent on the night. They were

sharp on the brake. Causing real problems. Here a great run.

There is a quality left foot. A great finish. A fabulous result for

Morton. But after the euphoria, following that with a victory, it

was a knock back for Hibs in the mid-week.

I thought that result, I thought that is the championship title race

over? I think probably a few people did. Up until half-time, I thought

it was reand truly over. But whatever has been said, you put it

in a bottle and sell that, something has happened in the second half. I

have a sneaking suspicious, that the Hibs may turn it around.

And the lead has not been great for Rangers lately. 1-0 against Queen of

the south, and the week before, a draw against Alloa.

You lose the best striker, chipping in with goal after goal, and the

problem is that Rangers have the gap. The other teams have to run to

victory after victory, so now they are under pressure.

won at Motherwell. So good results at home, beating Hearts, beating

Kilmarnock, this will put them in the hunt and put pressure on whoever

perhaps another surprise, Dundee United are 2-0 up a way to Ross

County. In League 2, Annan Athletic are up

against sterling. Arbroath are down a goal to Clyde. Berwick Rangers are

one against Montrose. Time to hear from our reporters once again.

A chink of light for Partick Thistle with 15 minutes remaining. They have

just put themselves back into the match. Callum Booth, the left

full-back, catching, Ripley by surprise. A long-distance shot that

Ripley was only able to put into the net. Goals either side of half-time

from Louis Moult, the first from the penalty spot. And then Martin

Johnson that Motherwell three up. But nerves might start to come into

Walker's early goal was a difference between the sides. Kilmarnock have

an equaliser. So far Inverness are Dundee pressure as they search for

holding onto the lead that they held through Ross Draper's goal in the

first half. Into the Championship and that thrilling match, Dumbarton

3-0 up through Kevin Cawley, Christian Nade and Darren Barr but

El Alagui and Henderson have made it 3-2. Can you be the tension of the

last ten minutes? I imagine Hibs will be pushing hard to get an

equaliser. When you were 3-0 up, and somebody comes back, you start to

panic. You invite pressure. It is going to be tough to hold out. Hibs

need some magic. You will never believe this, another goal in

Dingwall. Ross County or Dundee United? I am guessing it is United.

Let's hear all about it. Three Makkah goals for Dundee United and

almost certainly three points. A bit of a Nelly, and it looks as though

Ryan Dow has got the header from a couple of yards. Expect the

unexpected this afternoon. Back to Dens Park with Richard Wilson. They

are trying, I will give them that. You come to me with another Dundee

attack and they have earned a corner kick. That has been the story,

looking for the equalising goal. Greg Stewart should have equalised,

shooting wide from close range. They have also seen Rory Loy should wide

from a similar area. They now have a corner kick here, that was cleared.

Inverness, they earned a goal through Ross Draper when he rounded

the goalkeeper to score but in this task, it has been all about

defensive work for the visitors holding onto the lead. Caley Thistle

away to Dundee, one up. Doesn't look as though the Dons are going to hold

on for three points? At the moment, they are dominating possession and

they pretty much have from the first whistle. Sluggish at times. But St

Johnstone have been pure upfront. An indication as to why they have won

just one in the last 11. -- St Johnstone have been poor upfront.

Adam Rooney will be out for six weeks, we understand. Smashing in

close range after the Taylor header was parried. More from the all

singing, all dancing Brian McLaughlin at Tynecastle. Any

change? Hearts are being twinkle toed this afternoon. A penalty kick

initially saved by Jamie MacDonald in the common goal but the winger

clipped home the rebound to put Hearts one up. But Hearts are very

much in the game. They introduced Kris Boyd is to partner Josh

Magennis upfront to find a way back into the game. The goalkeeper for

Kilmarnock has been busy this afternoon. Some terrific saves from

Nicholson. But the referee, should he have sent off the Comite

defender, Stewart Finlay, for that penalty? The Hearts fans thought so.

He was clearly in goal. It was only a yellow card. 11 against 11, 1-0 to

Hearts. With around 14 points to go. -- 14 minutes ago. Jenny Crawford,

Dumbarton against Hibs? 3-2 but all systems to go. All the action

started in the 21st minute when Kevin Cawley, the midfielder, drove

in a wonderful shot into the bottom left corner past the Hibs

goalkeeper. That was doubled by Christian Nade, the former Hearts

striker, heading in from across. They became three after the break

when another former Jumbo headed in. And it was at that point that

Christian Nade was subbed off. He just decided to do that gesture in

reference to the 2012 cup final, and that did not go down well. They were

trying to grab them almost, but then Liam Henderson struck back with a

brilliant ball into the top corner after an amazing run. That made it

3-1 and then El Alagui came on, and after a Liam Henderson corner, and a

big scramble, he was there to drive it into the net. Hibs have had a

couple of chances but it is still 3-2. That does not sound like the

best behaviour from Christian Nade. It is going to be inflammatory when

you go to an end and it is not your supporters. But they need the

players on the park to make sure they get an equaliser. That is the

only way they can hurt Dumbarton, making sure they take something from

the game. 3-2 down, but it is still possible. Dumbarton hanging on for

three points. Rangers hanging on for a point against St Mirren? It is a

rejuvenated St Mirren. They have been starting to win home games.

They have got themselves into that area where they could conceivably

look to get fourth place and the play-offs. If we're talking about

reasons to be cheerful, but if St Mirren can get a point, a big

result. Looking at the bottom two, Alawite are trailing Livingston. It

looks like perhaps the final nail in the coffin. Potentially. And if we

look at Alloa's form, we can see that they have won a grand total of

zero games. That could be them. And now we can cast our minds forward to

next weekend's quarterfinal of the top. If you have not bought your

mother something nice for Mother's Day, spoil her by letting her watch

our live game. That is what I will be doing on Sunday. Dundee earned

their place in the last eight by giving Dumbarton a comprehensive

going over at Dens Park. I am just thinking, it is a full-time

Premiership club at home to a Championship club. The outcome was

never in doubt, really. I believe it was more to something interesting to

Celtic earlier this season in a cup competition. It is a cup and

anything can happen. I'm guessing that Paul Hartley would love for one

of those goals to be in today's game. But again, they completely

dominated it from the flank. Dundee, when they drew away from home, you

always fancied them because of the firepower, Rory Loy, Greg Stewart,

they were always liable to score. It is always going to be difficult for

part-timers and it proved a bridge too far. After we have luxuriated in

the rest of the action from Dens Park in midweek, we're going to be

heading over to Tynecastle because there has been an incident in that

game. It has not been another goal but plenty of drama for Brian

McLaughlin our man in the capital to describe. What has happened? Lots of

game of the arm of Josh Magennis. No doubt about it, a straight penalty

kick. McDonald was sent to the right way and the goalkeeper pushed the

ball onto the post and then it was cleared away. A second penalty of

the day that Macdonald has saved. The team still trail 1-0. Nine

minutes last here at Tynecastle. And what a game it is at the Falkirk

Stadium. Charlie Mann is on his mobile again. Certainly a game of

next day, later in the afternoon, Ross County against Dundee United

and Celtic take on Morton. And then it is Hibs against Inverness. That

is the match you will be able to watch on the TV. Starting with an

intriguing one, Rangers against Dundee. At Ibrox. Another big test

for Mark Warburton at the start of the season. League Cup were too

strong for them and knock him out but in the Scottish Cup, Kilmarnock

came calling and Rangers won the replay. It is a test of how far

Rangers have come because Dundee finished top six last season. They

are in the top six again and they are really good side. They have

quality upfront. St Johnstone's front man can cause problems. Dundee

have quality upfront and I wonder if it is one of their front man that

has scored. Can you tell us? Richard? It is an equaliser for

Dundee. The corner came into Gary Hart, and Kane Hemmings managed to

get his head to the ball to get it passed Fon Williams. Did he just

call me Hugh? Them us a something in his pie. Rangers overcame

Premiership opposition in the last round against Kilmarnock. -- there

must be something in his pie. Rangers are stuttering a little bit

in the Championship, missing firepower up front in terms of

Waghorn. But Dundee, defensively they have been dodgy at times so it

will be interesting to see what happens. Who do you fancy? I'm going

to say Dundee. Craig? I would lean towards Rangers a tad. And other

intriguing one, Ross County against Dundee United. The pitch for that

one queered by what has happened today. If you ask me at lunchtime I

would've said Dundee United would be winning. Ross County would be two

strong today and again in that cup tie, but it is going to be

interesting. Hold that train of thought. Drama at Pittodrie. Chris

McLaughlin. With three minutes to go, it is a penalty to St Johnstone.

Liam Craig brought down, although I am not sure he was brought down, by

Jack. It looks as though Jack got some of the ball. The Aberdeen fans

are protesting with Stephen McClane, the referee. Too many McClanes

inside the venue today. St Johnstone have a chance to level it with just

three minutes on the clock. It is going to be Craigen will step

forward to take this. Can he level at? Here he comes. Left footed, into

the back of the net. And it is St Johnstone one, Aberdeen won with

just to go. Aberdeen fans still remonstrating. -- Aberdeen one with

A counterpart to the Aberdeen protest? It is interesting and puts

a wee twist on the title race once again.

We have three minutes to go, I think that Aberdeen will be going gung ho

to get the winner. A twist in the championship run-up.

Rangers with one up. Forrester scoring for them.

Hibs looks like they are going to lose to Dumbarton. Game over? I

would think so. I don't think Rangers will throw things away. That

will not happen. That goal could make the biggest difference of the

lot. I thought that St Mirren would hang on. But they keep going. They

invariably find something to get them over the finishing line.

A huge result for Mark Waugh Burton. Celtic against Moreton, a

straightforward win in that one? If you are a Celtic fan, you would like

to think so. It is the Cup, stranger things have happened.

Craig? If Moreton can do the same thing mid-week as they did against

Hibs, defending well, hitting on the brake, it could cause problems but

the smart money says Celtic. And on Saturday, Inverness against Caley

Thistle, Craig for Hibs, maybe not? Gemma? Cup holders Caley Thistle

will fight to defend their title. It could be a releer for Hibs to gain

momentum heading into what looks like the play-offs for them.

The treble is off but the double is still on? It is possible to get back

on track. Today, if it is another loss, three points gone, there is a

Scottish final coming up and a League Cup final coming up. They

have to get the momentum back. They have not given away too many

goals? They haven't. I am a staunch defender of goal keepers but if you

asked the Hibernian support and that man here, I think that there is a

question mark over Oxlan. Craig? Well, I don't see all of the

games because of the work. But it is the area where many don't seem

convinced. So we don't know. But if Oxley is the goalkeeper, he must

anybody great form. They still have a chance to do something special. If

it is not automatic promotion, there is still lots up for grabs. So, to

the Falkirk and Queen of the South game.

Falkirk were one down at the interval. The goal came in 43

minutes. Probably the only thing that happened in the first half. An

Ian Russell free kick deep into the box. Chris Higgins, the Queen of

South captain. With his first goal for the season. You can only imagine

what Houston was saying to the players. But in the second half it

changed. Equalising on 52 minutes, Baird with a header. His 17th of the

season. Then in front. Another cross, this time, it was Dowie who

headed hast his own goalkeeper. And on 85 minutes, Alston, terrific

work. Good shot, beating the goalkeeper. Alston's eighth of the

season. Maybe not pretty but important. Falkirk have cut the gap

to Hibs by two points. This point of the rate is really hotting up. And

to Motherwell against Partick Thistle.

This is a big result for Motherwell. Easing their concerns in terms of

that relegation play offs. Beating Partick Thistle by 3-1.

Moving above Thistle. Louis Moult giving the homeside the advantage.

If the visiting fans expected a second half they were disappointed

with Louis Moult doubling the advantage, a goal with class. Scott

McDonald picking him out on The Pass and a Louis Moult flashing past.

Then 2-0, then Johnson's turn to turn on the style. Firing in a

ferocious left-footed shot. This was 3-0. The points done and

dusted. Then Booth with 15 minutes remaining fired in a long distance

shot that took riply by surprise. Perhaps as he had nothing to do

until up until then. Shortly after, a great chance via toing bar. But

Motherwell comfortably held on. Full-time at Pittodrie.

Aberdeen were against St Johnstone. In the background evidence of the

controversial end to the game. Aberdeen were on course but a late

penalty, and St Johnstone share the spoils.

Reeling from the news that Adam Rooney could be out for six weeks

with a thigh tear. And the replacement Church grabbed the

opener, he smashed the ball into the net. That settled the nerves.

Turning stodgy after that. Aberdeen looking good for the win. Then Liam

Craig took the ball into the box. Ryan Jack challenged him. Looking to

get the ball but the referee pointed to the spot, up stepped Craig and

set the keeper the wrong way to the levelling of the game.

Cutting the gap to Celtic on six points but it could have been more.

Dundee United three, and Ross County nil. Paul Paton influential from a

well worked corner. He dispatched the visitors on their way.

Frustrating for the homeside. Substitute Dowd was essential. Dowe

putting the game beyond doubt with a close range header. Showing

determination to get there. He sent the Dundee United fans crazy. They

and stamina incredible. And in 71 minutes, El Alagui scored after an

injury-blighted season. He scambled it into the back of the net. Lots of

corners for Hibs, 16 in all but could not get them in the back of

the net. The other match at the top of the

championship, Rangers, one, St Mirren, nil. The goal scored by

Forrester. Now to the Premiership. The

nil. The goal calming from Walker. Walker

rammed it home as a rebound. A chance in the second half to double

As much as Kilmarnock could not find a way beyond a

resolute Hearts defence. Hearts back to winning ways. Kilmarnock adrift

afternoon, they will be getting edgy.

A good day for Hearts and a good week for Robbie Neilson. He has

signed a contract to be there until 2018.

Good news for Hearts. The fans turning up. A good squad and a

settled management team. Everything looking good. They are strong at

home. Another great result today. A poor one for Kilmarnock but the

record for Hearts against Hearts has been -- for hearts against

Kilmarnock has been harsh. So, a new boss? Well, there is

momentum below Hearts and momentum above them. I am worried for

Thistle. In ten days they have four games.

Your team are up to fourth again? I know! They are sitting pretty. After

three draws and 11 games, that is what happens.

It shows you how quickly things turn around.

That is what is keeping them on their toes. Nobody is resting on

laurels. Everything looking below, to go straight down is bad enough

but it will be difficult for the team from the top division.

Motherwell were grate taking on Rangers but closer for this

campaign. You two can take a breather. I will

Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership. Dundee United, that means they are

eight points behind, niqab foot of the table with a game in hand. In

the Championship, good reading for Rangers supporters. A late win over

behind Hibs. In League 1, a big win from Dunfermline today. Eight points

clear of Peterhead with a game in hand. Ayr United back in third

place. At the foot of the table, Brechin City, seven adrift. Elgin

City are top of the second leg. Top of the Barclays English Premier

League looks like this: New leaders at the top of the

Championship, Burnley go to the top of the table. Hull City just

managing a draw. Burnley, one point ahead of Hull City. Level on points

with Middlesbrough. Charlton Athletic and Bolton Wanderers,

locked on points. Time to dip our toes in the waters

of England football. Let's get some details of today's matches in the

Barclays Premier League, starting at Upton Park. West Ham United, at home

to Sunderland. Not the return to Upton Park Sam Allardyce was before

on a bitterly cold day in the East End. His team had their chances, but

it was Mikael Antonio who scored the only goal of the match after half an

hour to ensure it West Ham victory. Patrick van Aanholt fails to clear

to give Leicester or three points. Have we just seen the true mark of a

But the King Power Stadium is bouncing. Five points clear with

Leicester win the 1-0 and they are topped by five points. At the middle

of your report, you asked a rhetorical question. Have we

witnessed the stuff of champions? The Foxes are flying. And I make no

apologies for that. I was losing to the radio this morning and this time

last year, Leicester were bottom of the Premier League with 18 points.

Aston Villa are no bottom with 18. I am not going to say it because it

might not happen but I wish I had put a fiver on them at the beginning

of the season. It would have been about 5000 to one. They dropped

points last week, and people were questioning if they have the bottle

for it. Does that answer those doubters? I think that kind of

result on the way you got the result, keep going, keep battling, I

feel for Norwich, because they have lost a lot of wiggles. They looked

like they were going to get something, but there is an inner

belief amongst Leicester City players that if they keep going,

somebody will produce magic and bring on a substitute that they

need. I wonder if there was any magic and St Mary's this afternoon.

Southampton, at home to Chelsea. Watched by Tony husband. Branislav

Ivanovic with a late header to enter the sixth game unbeaten. Chelsea

trail to Shane Long's first half goal. Questions for table Courtois.

They levelled when Fabregas trundled in. An unblemished record. Chelsea

had the answers. They won 2-1. What is the best that Chelsea can hope

for in the league this season? Champions League, that is what they

have to do. They have to try to get that momentum and take it into the

Champions League. They have good enough players and they have a bit

of strength and depth. They have a manager who has come in and let

things, and that is a good result for Chelsea. It is a real confidence

booster. We spoke about the plight of Aston Villa at the bottom of the

table, away to Stoke City. And that was watched by Illy Barbara. Stoke,

deserved winners. They did not have to work particularly hard. Villa

were a disappointment. Marko Arnautovic opened the scoring from

the penalty spot. He added a second with a little help from some

terrible defending. Aston Villa tried to come back in it and Leandra

Bacuna gave them a lifeline. Allin, it was up again with one poor team

and one team playing properly. -- all in all, it was a poor game with

one poor team. You mentioned Aston Villa earlier, comparing them with

Leicester City. They pulled off a remarkable comeback last season to

survive and I can kind of see that happening. If you look at who

Leicester played last year, they were playing very good football.

Aston Villa, I think it is an absolute disgrace if you are a Villa

fan. I think Remi Garde to them against the Under-21s team last week

and they lost three nil. There are players there on big salaries and I

know that does not guarantee performances but I just think that

the policy there has been atrocious. They will be in the Championship

next year and he needs to start afresh. If you lose three nil to the

under 20 side, do not play them at the next game? You should kick lumps

out of them and make yourself feel the next game? You should kick lumps

better. He questioned the attitude and desire of his players, the

willingness to go out and fight. If the manager is questioning that of

18 at the bottom who should be scrapping for their lives, I think

there is only one way that Villa are going and it is down and there is no

guarantee they are coming back up. The cup final, Liverpool and Man

City in the cup final, AKA the League Cup. How do you see that

going? It will be interesting because Liverpool have been good in

fits and starts. They had been there, or thereabouts, but when it

has counted, they have not done it. It might be the only thing that Man

City win this year. Expect our strong team. Strange that they would

play an understrength team in the FA Cup but we expect them to play the

big hitters in this game. Jurgen Klopp wants to get off to a flyer

and get something in the trophy cabinet. It is one of those games to

look forward to. We know that Man City can play and Liverpool have a

good strength to them. Want to look forward to. We can reflect on look

back on what has happened today in Scottish football. I really don't

know where to start. It has been quite a day. I think I'm going to

start at the bottom and maybe work my way up, I will start with Dundee

United. 3-0 winners away to Ross County. We saw last week, with a

spirit and determination on show when they beat Hearts. But that win

was astonishing. A fabulous result. Ross County are hard to beat, good

up front. Everything that they should be looking for. They were on

our nice run, winning three and drawing one. They have given

themselves a chance with a game in hand. They are looking forward to

the next game because they have that kind of confidence. I don't think

the next game and can come quick enough for Mixu Paatelainen. Paul

Clayton was injured at the front of the season, and he is the kind of

player that can drive them on. He is. And Dundee United, Aberdeen in

the next three games, coming off the back of a late draw. I think they

have Motherwell and the Dundee derby, so Dundee United, although

they are on the foot of the table, they have a team with momentum now.

And I don't think I would want to be any of those three teams in the next

game, when you have a team fighting for survival in the Premiership.

They showed the right stuff today, as did your old club, Motherwell.

3-1. And it was one win out of eight going into that game. Losing a lot

of wiggles. Partick Thistle have the best defensive record away from home

and they do not concede many away from home. A huge result for Martin

Magee. He had a great run of results. They need to click on now

and start to look at the top six. But Motherwell, they are still too

close to the bottom. But they have not been panicking. The mantra from

Fir Park, the performances have been good but they are not getting the

points. Maybe they have turned a corner? Maybe but I would say that

they have conceded a couple of goals. The goal they conceded today,

and also the equaliser against St Johnstone, I think he was slightly

at fault. They have to stop losing silly goals because they give

Partick Thistle a bit of momentum. He were a couple of chances for

Pogba. I think if they can sure that up, Motherwell would be OK if they

can keep this run. This, down ninth. The backlog of fixtures, on the one

hand, it looks good but then a bird in hand is better than two in the

bush. -- Thistle, down to ninth. Yes, if you have suspensions, you

want respite. The pictures are heavily at this time of year, and it

can sometimes drain you. Take today's results, Partick have been

on a good run. Winning games, drawing games, and rarely do they

get beaten. That was disappointing but Alan Archibald, he has the pick

of the teams. Since the start of the season, they have been pretty

strong. Have Aberdeen let Celtic off the hook again? Maybe, but with this

season, giving someone is kicking on but then they get pulled back. I am

not surprised that there might be one more twist before the end of the

season. Craig, what do you think? I thought the title race would be on

it Aberdeen won today but with Rooney out now, the balance looks

heavier in favour of Celtic. Rooney scoring 12 in the last 15

games. He was the main man. With Lee Griffiths bang them in,

Celtic have themselves a lead. They will be hard to catch. Aberdeen will

have to hope that Celtic faulter but I don't see it happening.

Asking the questions, is the Premiership race over, is the title

race over? Craig, what are the prospects? I think in the

championship race, Rangers are in there, and have gone, the other

teams are not going to give away points. In the top division, Celtic

are in a good position. As far as Dundee United are concerned, today's

result gives them a chance to get on the coat tails of.

And we have survived another Saturday, haven't we? Time to wind
