it's Crystal Palace against Manchester United

in the Final here at Wembley. Let's enjoy the best

of the action in the company of three-time FA Cup winner,

Martin Keown, who's COMMENTATOR: There is something

about the FA Cup final day that takes you back to childhood and it's

been lovely to rewind 26 years to that previous palace- Manchester

United final. Yes, 26 years. Now is the time however to only look

forward to the 135th FA Cup final. A final that Crystal Palace

desperately want to win. And Manchester United have to win. Let's

look at the line-ups today. For Palace, Hennessy as usual in goal.

McArthur was an FA Cup winner with Wigan 's four years ago which could

mean a more advanced role for Yohan Cabaye. And Wickham is set to leave

the attack. Jenner and Mark protected by a defence that welcomes

Marcus Rojo on the left, Michael Carrick and Rooney have been Cup

runners-up, never won it, Fellaini is back from suspension having

scored in the last two grounds and Rashford is now an automatic

selection upfront comedy was six years old when United last won the

quickly. That certainly was and it hit him in the face. Queue has

score. It is just good movement, gets away from his man. How he does

not put that into the back of the net, it comes off Jedinak. Delaney

when you see him standing out wide? I try not to think about it -- do

you still get nightmares. The message from Ryan Giggs could well

have been, bringing the wingers in more. Marcus Rashford. Rashford, and

Too slow. He has to wait an age for Valencia to get around him on the

overlap. Rooney. A touch for Delaney, and a lovely touch from

Rashford. The bout was rattled by Fellaini. -- the crossbar was

rattled by Fellaini. Fantastic awareness. Good effort from

Fellaini. He thinks he's beaten the keeper and he has although it

doesn't go in. Martial. He usually does things quickly and he was

quickly into Souare to put him behind for Manchester United's 11th

corner of the match. It is taken briskly. Michael Carrick. Put off by

McArthur in front of him. Mata. Valencia. It is off the post and

Scott Dann gets it away. Just not able to put it in. A great header.

United have struck both the posts of Wayne Hennessey's goal. In the comes

across from Puncheon. It doesn't reach Scott Dann but he will stay

there because it's going to be a Palace corner. They have hardly been

down that end all half. And the ball into the box. They really test you,

Palace, Smalling is up to the test. Puncheon will take delivery. Mata

player, first class. There was some feeling in the goal, not sure about

the rhythm and the manager's moves but there is some noise in those

Palace fans now. It is their FA Cup to lose. It was a Arroyo Of The

Rovers moment. You felt his disappointment in not being selected

by Alan Pardew -- it was a Roy Of The Rovers moment. Rooney forced

away, pulled back to Marouane Fellaini, there is Mata, and it is

in! The Palace different as couldn't keep it out! -- the Crystal Palace

defenders could not keep it out. The cup final has come back to life.

This is proper FA Cup football. Rooney is absolutely brilliant on

this run. He wouldn't be denied. He runs with the ball for an age, going

into that defence, further and further, he brings the ball to the

far post, fantastic quality, Marouane Fellaini knocks it down and

Mata does the rest. A fantastic response from Manchester United.

Joel Ward has blocked everything but not that one. Off one leg and onto

the other. Louis Van Gaal is on his feet. His Manchester United men were

behind for less than three minutes. 1-1, the final is on.

Here is Zaha. He has managed to beat Smalling. Some people in the ground

thought that he had beaten de Gea as well but it is into the side of the

net. Smalling has not got a clue where Zaha is, loses them

completely. From where we were, we thought that had hit the back of the

net. Great power in the shot, just lacks the direction. That will do it

for the regulation 90 minutes, we will have 30 minutes of extra time

to try to find a winner of the FA Cup final. Dwight Gayle. Zaha. He's

managed to squeeze it through to Bolasie. It's back towards Wilfred

Zaha. Zaha goes down. Mark Clattenburg did not see anything

wrong with anything there. A very risky challenge from Daley Blind.

Great from Palace, the return pass from Bolasie is excellent. Zaha

tries to come back inside, as a coming together, him and Daley

Blind. It has been a slow first few minutes of extra time. He didn't

trust anything back towards, Jedinak. That's right, he's gone

ahead with that. Not back. Hit by Bolasie, fingertip save by de Gea.

And it was hit so very crisply. Great strike and three reflex is

there, top drawer. We've hardly seen him making a save lately, so shop

across the ground, Bolasie, -- so sharp, realising how close that was.

A chance for Valencia to hit it. Marouane Fellaini went for it and so

did Lingard. Puncheon. Bolasie. He's going to get another.

Manchester United are down to 10 players.

It is Chris Smalling who becomes the fourth man to be sent off in a FA

Cup final. Only four in all those years in history. Only 10 on the

field for United for the rest of this year's final. That pace of

Bolasie which frightened Smalling, tries to get too tight. In the end,

it's almost a rugby tackle that he makes. He knows he can't get away

with that. It's an early bath, I'm afraid.

past David de Gea. That's a better chance for Young.

Didn't stop Bolasie completely though. Bolasie continues to force a

corner with all of his might. Bolasie's like a bull there, isn't

he? Great run there from gale off the ball. Takes this really well, in

his stride, times his run. Flick it is off his left foot. Great

goalkeeping as well, you have to say. So good with his feet. Lingard

touch to Martial. There's the return. Lingard. Good bit of skill.

He's headed wide by Carrick. Chance on a plate.

Well, Lingard, isn't it, just cuts inside. Great ball in. Times his run

brilliantly. He's got to get better direction than that. Just comes at

him quickly. Michael Carrick's chance is gone. Manchester United

are coming again in search of another. Valencia. Beats Puncheon.

From behind, with 10 players, Manchester United have taken the

lead in extra-time in the Cup Final. Only 10 minuteses of it re - minutes

forward. So much space. He gets past Puncheon quite easily. He pull it is

themselves? It's a great shot. It's just wide from Jedinak. This isn't

over yet. That wasn't too far away as well, Jedinak. Jedinak, shifted

it away before Rooney arrived. Here's Ward, now. Ward, can the

sliding ball. De Gea is out to meet Wilfried Zaha quite superbly. Let's

not forget the part he has played, the part he always plays for

Manchester United. Zaha's the favourite. He's not holding back the

keeper, he's risking everything there. There's the hero of the two

12th time. It's on its way to Old Trafford. Louis van Gaal's team wins

the club its first significant silverware since Sir Alex

Fergusson's retirement. It's been won in such dramatic fashion. It was

a lightning strike from Lingard. That has won the Cup for Louis van

2. It took a while to get going. It was a great final in the end? It

was. A great advert for the Premier League. Credit to Crystal Palace,

they have had a tough end to the season, but I thought we worked very

hard today and our determination showed through. Delighted. Try and

from the FA Cup until today? Yeah. So, no, it's a special moment. It's

a competition I've loved watching as a fan growing up. Been unlucky in

two finals. I will enjoy tonight, that's for sure. Talk us through

that goal, what a strike? I seen it come across. I seen it come across,

you know, it landed nicely for me. You know, all I had to do was hit it

sweet. Luckily, I did that. In terms of the final itself, when did the

manager tell you you would be on the bench? What was your mind-set going

into this game? We did it two-days before. You know, to get our minds

right and prepare right. You know, the as a substitute you always have

to be ready. Thankfully I was. Let's get a goalkeeper's perspective on

that winner. David de Gea, what a way to win the Cup final from your

team-mate, Jesse Lingard? Great game, great goal. I think we

deserved to win this final. We have to enjoy. What does it mean to you

and to Manchester United to do this today? It's a long time since

Manchester win this trophy. We have won it. We fight for him. We have

it. It was a special occasion for you and for your players? It's

fantastic to win this title for the club, for the fans and for me. Now I

have won a Cup in four countries. Not many managers can say that. I'm

very happy. Were you concerned at any point that the final was getting

away from you, it was going to be one of those days? Of course. Of

course. Because we have played Tuesday evening also. We have

deserved it, I think. An enthralling season in the FA Cup has ended as it

I think we fought until the end. We never gave up. We have our FA Cup.

It's been a tough season, but we can finish with a very good news for the

fans. The player who came on to replace you scored a super goal for

the victory. Manchester United needed a trophy that eluded them for

such a long time, the FA Cup? It was a great goal. We know his quality

and we are happy for him. Today is a day to enjoy, especially the fans

they had difficult moments through the year. Today we can bring the

trophy home. Commiserations what was the final like from your

perspective? They were the better side on the day. They played well.

Give them their credit. We didn't do ourselves justice. They are a good

team. They probably deserve it. Fair play to them. No hard feelings on my

part. Sad we couldn't win it. It is what it is. You see what it means to

everyone, the manager, players, backroom staff. You can't buy that

will feeling of winning the trophy. A couple of decisions went big time

against us, Connors should have played on. It looked like he was

getting up first. Don't owe know why he did that. Big decisions didn't go

our way. We are not - great performance from us, great

performance from United, great Cup final. We are on the losing end. You

have a rich history in the FA Cup, do you still love? Of course. It has

a competition with romance and history to it. Today is a defeat

that hurts. It will hurt me more when I think about it. But Pawlett

ult mately I can only put my team out there, motivated, organised and

hope that they are going to get it done. They did that today. I just

feel, not for myself, for them. They were brilliant for me. Manchester

alongside me. Good evening. This was a pretty decent Cup final? It was.

Particularly the extra-time in the last 30 minutes. The first 70

minutes were cagey. Palace sat deep. They were waiting to that point to

start believing they could win. United controlled the possession,

they didn't create that many clear-cut chances. After that the

game opened up. There were tackles, yellow cards, the game was niggly

and opened up. I would agree. I thought the first half was pretty

dull. I didn't think there was too much in the sides. Palace were set

up in a way to stop United. They knew United would have a certain

amount of possession. What Phil sayingses, it was almost the

mistakes that made the game exciting. Mistakes on both sides.

Once that tiredness set in the game did change. Alan Pardew got his

tactics spot on. Especially the introduction of Jason Puncheon was

the perfect substitution? He spoke about the substitution in pre-match

build-up. Puncheon's run is brilliant. Anthony Martial plays him

onside. His run to stay on. Mata makes the challenge much he is

convinced he is offside. The power on the strike. De Gea can't move.

Brilliant goal. Well-worked goal. I'm not convinced. That is what

maybe swayed neutrals in Manchester United's favour after that Danns.

Isn't that Kevin Kilbane's nightclub - Then United get back in it? For

Alan Pardew you think hold on for five minutes. Wayne Rooney, who I

thought was the best player on the pitch. He grabbed hold of the game.

Brilliant run past three, four players. You think he is run being

out of space. He dugout a brilliant ball to the far-post. Fellaini gets

it down. Mata, a brilliant finisher of the ball, gets them back in the

game. At this point I could see them in the game. The deflection take it

is beyond Hennessey. He is in a good position, going down, he sees it.

That is the luck that Palace didn't have. We have seen great goals at

Wembley. The winner was something else? Special. Jesse Lingard he

probably should have started the game, his form has been that good.

When Valencia goes down the right hand side. There wasn't many people

in the box, Martial was in the box. When it came back to Lingard it was

instinctive. Sometimes when you score a goal you can blame the

defending and goalkeeper. That is sensational. To win an FA Cup final.

He cut across the ball with his right foot. Brilliant finish. That

will be one of the best goals scored in the Cup final for some time.

Brilliant celebration. The critisim is was the challenge from Puncheon

Onuoha Valencia in the leadup. It was a brilliant strike. When you hit

them early. Defenders can't react. Goalkeeper can't react. Beyond him

in a flash. David de Gea proving why he had has to be the best goalkeeper

in the world? He has had a brilliant season. He is the best keeper in the

world. This was a brilliant chance for Dwight Gayle. I thought he

should have hit it first time. David de Gea stood up and didn't go down

early. We have seen that many times this year. He doesn't get it beyond

the defender to get the strike away. Doesn't get hold of the strike. Good

save. Chris Smalling had to go? He had to go. He got too tight. He was

lucky in the first half. He could have got a red before. It was his

second challenge. Tiredness towards the end caused that challenge.

Better off when it to who is going to take over as Manchester United

manager. The perfect sendoff for Louis van Gaal, he won a trophy,

Jose Mourinho to take over? That is the rumour. There has been a

campaign to get Louis van Gaal out. Perfect ending. Won Barcelona in

four countries. He has been a fantastic manager. These young

players will remember the day for the rest of their lives of they won

a medal. When you finish, third or fourth you don't get a medal. Fans

say it has to change. We have to have Jose Mourinho. The FA Cup is

still very, very special to every player, every supporter, managers,

koefs and the like. The point is, when Louis van Gaal's come into the

football club it's about top four qualification. He did it last

season. This season they have come close to it. By in large it's been a

poor season for Manchester United the football hasn't been great to

watch. For today it wasn't gate to watch again. What he can sign off,

happy signing off with a trophy. The fans haven't been happy for a long

time it. Looked as though the writing was on the wall for Louis

van Gaal two or three months ago. Really enjoyed your company. Thank
