Fourth Round Highlights - Sunday The FA Cup

Hello and welcome to Stadium:MK for highlights of the Emirates FA

So far this weekend, the Premier League clubs have by and large shown

their strength. But there have been a couple of upsets along the way.

Magnificent goal from Wayne Rooney! Taylor has equalised! How about that

for improvisation?! Great finish! Nacer Chadli finding

the corner of the net! He is away. He is also on a

hat-trick. Can he finish? Yes, he can. Wilfried Zaha! Bournemouth have

turned the tie around. Chelsea were the victims of last

year's biggest 4th round giant killing as they lost

to Bradford City. This season, MK Dons

of the Championship were trying to perform the same feat

as they hosted the Blues Commentary comes from Steve Bower

six goals in six games under Guus Hiddink, leads the line. Lovely turn

from Hazard. Direct run. Into Costa. What a save from David Martin! To

prevent Chelsea going in front inside 2.5 minutes. Brilliant save.

He has thrown himself at the ball. How did he manage to do that?! Karl

Robinson was extremely relaxed when we spoke with him earlier on.

Extremely. That was a poor ball, under no

pressure really, from Baba. Take in short, MK Dons were caught out.

Ivanovic! Another good stop. Matic following in. Good clearance! Yet

another save from the goalkeeper. MK Dons all sat in and got done by two

against one from the corner. Lovely play from Chelsea. Good turn and

strike from Ivanovic. Karl Robinson, who got MK Dons into the

Championship for the first time in their brief history. Hazard has

Loftus-Cheek in support. He tries to pick out Costa. Hazard... They are

trying to walk this in, Chelsea. In the end it is wide from Oscar. Yes,

it is a waste in the end, but some of the football is exquisite.

Minimum amount of touches, movement off the ball. Very, very good from

Chelsea. He has certainly settle things down, Guus Hiddink. He is

just a grown-up person. Surely this time! Oscar! It had been coming. And

the Premier League team are eventually in front.

MARK LAWRENSON: It is really poor play from MK Dons. When you consider

the quality of football which Chelsea have already played, and

then, to score from there. I don't know what he was thinking trying to

play that inside. Just classic case of a player doing something he is

not particularly capable of. I do not mean that disrespectfully.

Blocked by Cahill. Swung in by Robert Hall. Comes back to

Forster-Caskey, on loan from Brighton. Carruthers... He has got

it back. Potter, deflected, and in! MK Dons are level! Darren Potter,

the formerly Liverpool player, with the help of a deflection, has

levelled it up. Just what they needed as well. Just a little bit of

fortune. But they kept persevering, trying to play it two feet. In the

end, they prospered. This has lifted the whole place. Yes, it is

fortunate, but it is still 1-1. Josh Murphy trying to play the

one-two with Hall. Cut out by Fabregas. Hazard with an opportunity

to restore the lead! Into the arms of the goalkeeper. Too easy. How did

Hazard get in that position? In the end he hit it almost straight at the

goalkeeper. I think he thought it was just so easy to score. It is

like someone has flicked the switch. We saw signs of that at Arsenal last

week. They are in again... Oscar is unmarked! Diego Costa took it away

from Oscar! That is bonkers. This game is absolutely bonkers. You will

never turn elect that go if you are a centre forward, ever. Even Oscar

sees the funny side. -- you're never going to let that go. Oscar is

onside - and has restored Chelsea's lead. His second, Chelsea's second,

and they are back in front. Wait for the run... There it goes.

Outstanding. Karl Robinson, a couple of minutes

away from his half-time team talk. Do you change it? Do you go away

from your principles? Or do you keep trying to have a go, playing this

way? Is there an end product? There is! It is a fantastic hit! And it is

a first-half hat-trick for Oscar. Chelsea have turned on the style.

Just before half-time, they now have a 2-goal advantage. Look how far he

comes with this ball. Nobody anywhere close to laying a glove on

him. I mean, it is a great finish, it is a nice one. But there is

nobody. It is far, far too easy to score that goal, as pretty -- as

good as it is. Was he caught by Potter? Yes, he

was. Penalty Tina Chelsea. The referee had a look. Nothing wrong

with that, making your mind up. Yes, he has caught the back of his leg.

Now, there has been a huge debate, including John Terry running over,

as to who will take this penalty. Oscar you may remember missed one

recently. He has already got a hat-trick. He has just gone and

patted Hazard on the back. 30 games without a goal. Use his opportunity

to end run. Which he does. Relief for Eden Hazard. He is back among

the goals. And Chelsea are most certainly safely through to the

fifth round. He just waits to see what the goalkeeper does. It does

not get any easier than that. The man who got 19 goals last season

finally has his first of this season. Peter Winkleman, whose

message before today was, enjoy the crazy day. Maybe he knew what was

coming. He wasn't one, was he?! That was a good try. Well struck.

Murphy... Goal kick. Chelsea were caught a bit there. They got away

with it. I don't think it was a foul. No.

Hazard on the run, on-side. Support is arriving. Traore! Not bad for an

introduction. The substitute has his first Chelsea goal. And he makes it

five, the Burkina Faso international Jimmy will remember that moment. It

is a good strike, actually. It bobbled, he did well to keep it nice

and low. But again, easy, no pressure. It is a big moment for

him. 5-1, Chelsea. What is it like to face that? I thought it was

scary. I have not had that before. But they were on it. When they are

on it, they are unplayable. They were quality all over the pitch. I

am disappointed for one or two of my players. One or two of them let

themselves down a bit. Maybe that is being harsh, but it is the reality

of the industry. These games, you have to be well prepared mentally.

We did well in the first half although we were not finishing it

off in the first 20 minutes. They got the equaliser but we reacted

very well. My first goal, it is a very important goal because we

started the game, and the second and the third, good goals. This would be

number you? We hope so. We have had a good run at it in the last few

years. The purpose of coming here and travelling away from your

families, midweek etc, you want to go all the way once you are in it.

John Terry says they want to go all the way, and they stand a good

chance, you would say? They are certainly capable. They have turned

a massive corner since Guus Hiddink arrived. The players looked like

they are enjoy enjoying their football. It is like they have been

told, just go and cause problems. Under Mourinho at the end I felt

they were being held back. He was causing the problems rather than the

players! Do you still have to qualify in the sense that MK Dons

this afternoon gave them an awful lot of time and space? The manager

of MK Dons made a decision to play them at football. Is that admirable?

Very, yes. Hopefully it does not put Karl Robinson under any more

pressure. I think it was difficult to Judge Chelsea today. Definitely

they have got the spring back in their step. Some great performances.

And they have got pace. But as Graham a says, they have got a

grown-up manager and they are just happy playing. You could have picked

anyone of the front line to look at. Oscar Gottman of the match so we

will have a look at him. The thing about him, he was one of those in

and out of the team. Very much at the start of the season. Was he

lightweight, was he not one he takes the goal extremely well. But this

was class. And it was the one touch finish and the accuracy. He had a

look before he struck it. He has hit it really cleanly. I think players

like that, if the movement and passing around them is good, they

get into these situations, and his confidence at this stage is so high,

he ran across the box, practically unopposed. Stadium:mk with the

second goal you see the difference between Premier League players and

Championship players. When you are a fan, you think somebody has to make

a challenge. You were both defenders. How hard is it when

somebody runs across? It is difficult. If he runs in front of

the backline, everyone is frightened to step out, so the defensive back

for trying to hold the position and hope there a midfield shield in

front of them and that was the big problem for MK Dons. Potter was

trying to do it all by himself and got pulled all over the place. He

was like the boy with the finger in the dyke, it was unbelievable. He

literally left him to protect him. John Terry said Chelsea would not be

renewing his contract and this was his final season and he wants to

continue playing but not for an English club. I surprised at the

stands of the it's difficult. A good player that has been at the club all

of his career, when he gets to the end of that life span, it is whether

the club or the player will compromise. The advantage players

have now, when they get to the end of Premier League career they have

opportunities to earn money and play on a regular basis in other

countries. It is difficult for the club and John Terry, but I would

love to see him there. Kurt Zouma and Gary Cahill, rumours that he

might be left out, you have to leave them happy because they are the

future. For most of his career at Chelsea, anybody could play with

John Terry, he was that good. He was fantastic. I think he will probably

jump across the Atlantic and go and see his mate Frank in New York.

Let's move on to the second game today involving the lowest ranked

side in the competition, Carlisle. Martin Fisher was watching

this one for us. Just eight weeks ago as Carlisle

United were winning in round two, Cumbria was battered by storm

Desmond. Brunton Park was seven feet under water and getting it fit for

purpose is a remarkable feat and beating Everton today would

represent a similarly impressive achievement. Without Danny Granger

and experienced midfielder Luke Joyce, who was suspended, Carlisle

give a debut to Connolly. Antony Sweeney's daddy is an Everton fan

and Derek Asamoah scored at Everton in the League Cup. Everton made

seven changes to the side that lost to Manchester City on Wednesday but

it is a strong starting XI. Tom Cleverley and Steven Pienaar have

both played in the final. James McCarthy, his post-start for Everton

since just after Christmas. -- his first start. Cleverley. Lennon. Kone

pulling away to the back post, and he scores. A dream start for the

Premier League side. Carlisle were caught cold in the opening

exchanges. Aaron Lennon was certainly onside and he got his head

up swiftly here. An intelligent run. And he could not miss. That will

relieve and ease any early anxiety for the Merseyside players. Kone,

who scored the opener in the last round against Dagenham Redbridge,

repeat the dose. This is an interesting discussion between the

officials and management already. Funes Mori with a mistake. Asamoah

and Sweeney in there. This time Asamoah brings the save out of Rob

Les. And that has the Carlisle fans on their feet. The horror moment for

the Argentinian. Asamoah going for gold when maybe the cross for

Sweeney might uproot more beneficial -- going for gold. Keith Curle said

he wanted his team to do it for the local community, who have really

suffered in recent weeks. They cushioned pass from Pienaar. -- a

cushioned pass. Kone. Oviedo. And again. Lennon. And

again. 2-0 Everton. Setup the first and scored the second, and already

this tie is going the way of the Premier League side. Lovely quick

passing here from Everton. Pienaar, Oviedo and Ross Barkley all

involved. Lennon had found space, checked inside and then the pace of

the shot is too strong for Mark Gillespie to field. Carlisle United

zero, Everton two. Ross Barkley. Oviedo. Kone. He kept it on target.

A comfortable lives -- comfortable save in the end for Mark Gillespie.

McCarthy. Asamoah. In behind Jagielka. Kennedy arriving as well.

For the third time today, Asamoah goes alone. Again, he fails to find

the target. Beautiful ball and Asamoah thrives on this kind of

service. Got away from Jagielka. Could not bring a save out of Joel

Robles. Funes Mori. Ross Barkley. Still he goes on. It could be a

wonderful goal. The last-ditch challenge was effective. Carlisle

not out of the woods yet. The goalkick is given. And Ross

Barkley scored a wonderful individual goal in the Capital One

cup on Wednesday at Manchester City. I thought for a moment we would get

another one. Dancing feet sending the players this way and that before

he was stopped by David Atkinson. Osman. A bit of space for Ross

Barkley. What a finish. What a finish from Ross Barkley. Not many

goalkeepers in the land would have a chance of keeping that one out. Mark

Gillespie never saw it. A finish of real genuine Premier League quality

from Ross Barkley. His ninth of the season, and already his best tally

in a season. Took a deflection on its way through which did not help

the goalkeeper. Maybe, on reflection, the goalkeeper might

have been able to stop it but for the touch. But that is a finish that

surely takes the game beyond the league to side. -- League 2. Of

those Ross Barkley again. Kone. -- off goes Ross Barkley again. It

flashes across the face of goal from the tightest of angles. How close

was this going in for the fourth? Against the post, and away to

safety. He has got away from Galloway.

Jagielka would be important intervention. Two second-half

substitutes almost combined to get Carlisle on the scoresheet although

the outcome has long been settled. Jagielka was determined that Everton

would keep a red clean sheet today. We started really well and had a

professional approach. Scoring early always helps, but the fourth round

of the FA Cup can always be tricky and it was a terrific all --

terrific footballing atmosphere. We knew how good they were and we

wanted to contain them to make it a cup tie. 2-0 down, you think it will

be a long afternoon. Credit to the players, we came out and change

shape and try to make a fist of it. After all of the pain the community

had to suffer with the floods I thought they gave us an incredible

example of how to face adversity in life, and not just in football, and

they put on a real show and everyone could be proud. We had a sour moment

during the game when you and Roberto were talking to the referee. What

was said? The referee said there had been a complete made about a racist

taunt. It is not acceptable. We don't want anything associated with

racism, or foul and abusive language. It's a place where people

watch football and to be entertained. I will be disappointed

if it is Carlisle United supporters. Well said Keith Curle, and I'm sure

the authorities will investigate that. As far as the game itself, a

bit like here, Carlisle just gave Everton too much time and space.

They did. And as we talk about the difference between the teams, and

even bigger gap between Everton and Carlisle, but again the pace, and

you see it from Aaron Lennon's goal, the one he makes the Kone. A simple

ball behind the full-back and he is running away from ten yards.

Great first touch the goal. It is the passing and movement that beats

the Carlisle player, they have already made up their mind what the

pass will look like and they are chasing shadows. Again, Keith Curle

will have had his plans and ideas and they are behind in 90 seconds,

and then two goals down after 20 minutes. But you can't legislate for

mistakes. You can do all the planning you can do. The left-back

is staring at the stands and saying what a nice day and Aaron Lennon is

gone. That is a huge positive, 17,000 after all the trouble in the

area and the trouble the club had with the flooding. 17,000 fans, TV

money as well. I don't want to sound patronising. Ultimately, when you

play against a Premier League team, as a League 2 side, even tonight,

watching the game, you have to go off as a manager and pick the

positives for your players. Ultimately, they have business to do

in their respective leagues and Thereau lot of positives. They will

have learned a huge amount, Carlisle and MK Dons, having played

top-quality opposition. The FA Cup draw was conducted here

after the game a MK, and the first tire caught everybody's eye. Chelsea

against Manchester City -- the first time. The interesting thing is that

Chelsea will have just played in the Champions League and Manchester City

won't have done. That may or may not be in their favour. Overall, looking

at the draw, you can make a case for the next round after this, you could

have eight Premier League teams in the next round of the competition.

How grateful will Shrews bree be for their injury time winner against

Sheffield Wednesday as they get the home tie with Manchester United --

Shrewsbury? All the cliches come out about the rewards coming and 97

minutes. I'm not averse to to a cliche. I built a career on it.
