Sequels are never given the originals. Or are they?

Salford's sun, sand of Salford dirty. But loving folk, still salt

of the earth. No factory craft, gasworks wall. Champagne, cigars and

caviar. We cannot buy a taste of Honey, but tradition runs rich

indeed. We still see the odd mongrel dog on the pitch, smell Bovril at

half-time. See rattles in hand, small kids with freckles. North

country boys from Eccles. The male role monkey driven insane, spirit of

Christmas past. The underdog rides again. Blyth Spartans have come from

behind to beat Hartlepool. Predictions are useless, but the

winner takes it all. Champagne cigars, cavalcade of stars, FA Cup

third round galore. Just looking over Salford, once

again later this evening. The Emirates FA Cup rolls back into

town. This time lead to Hartlepool are the visitors. Good evening, this

is what the FA Cup is all about, a team from the seventh tier taking on

a side three divisions above them. Could we be on for another upset?

Who knows? We will find out this evening. The fans have turned out in

force, they no one month ago Notts County were beaten at this ground by

this team. We know it is a big one, even the boss of the lens yet is

watching. The two teams have been here for quite some time. Salford

came from their hotel down the road. 120 miles for Hartlepool, from

Danny, you have played in the position of the underdog and the

Giants being killed, doing the killing. If you are in the

Hartlepool dressing room, what are you looking for as a senior player?

You come out here, to get it right. You have to show the team in the

lower league that you are better than them, why you are playing at

your level and they are not. You have to prove a point, and preview

of the better player on the day. Collectively not always easy. The

opposite side is you take it for granted and expect to win because

you are playing players from a lesser level. The fact that Salford

have done a great job beating Notts County will make Hartlepool that bit

more wary of them. I would hope so. I would expect a good start from

them, for sure. Ronnie Moore talking about the importance of the back

four. I don't know if you are privy to what has been going on in the

Salford dressing room, but is that something you will focus on? I think

so. We want to do exactly the same as the last game, three good

midfield players against their players. We have good players, not

all about tackling and being tough. Important we keep our discipline. We

have really good players, Hardcastle, Danny Webber. We have

good young players who can cause them problems. That is why, Trevor,

slightly different to normal game. There is some real experience in

that Salford team. Also physical discipline. They did not tire in the

last half-hour. A very fit team, well done for getting them fit.

Nothing to do with me! I slightly disagree with Danny, even though you

are the better team, Hartlepool, they will have to go into this game

matching Salford physically, proving they are committed to doing that. If

they do not, forget about football, it will not come to fruition. If

they can match up the battle, they will let their football better

ability takeover. The classic cliche, the first 20 minutes are

important? They are in any game. One thing Hartlepool have in their

advantage, they should be able to do what Trevor said, the average age of

23, Salford is 29. They should have the energy and the legs, they are

full-time, they should be able to match them and equality will come

We just have to enjoy it. We approach the first game as

underdogs, going to this game as underdogs. A lot of people are

rooting for us. For the right reasons. We have not changed

anything, approaching the game the same as last time. Showing them the

respect they deserve. It is up to the lads now. We have said what we

said, if they want to win the game, they know what needs to be done. The

It was perfectly placed. The striker made ten appearances for Barnsley

last season. He will surely have settled some of Hartlepool's nerves

now. The players have to recognise that Oates has the pace to beat

Dawson and Howells. It is with Oates once again. He has

support in the middle and looks to the heavens as he sees that one

sailing across the penalty area. It is a great run initially. He

recognises he has got the pace. He stepped inside and it is a brilliant

driving run. Excellent from Oates. A beautifully composed finish from the

young striker. Something Danny Murphy spoke about before the game,

impose yourself. You are a professional footballer. That is

what you have got to take pride in, show them who is boss in many

respects. That is the first goal for Hartlepool striker for over 400

minutes since Billy Paynter got one back in October. He is one of

several players injured back in October. He is one of

Achilles problem keeping him out of the team.

belief. Stay in the game as well. Important that you try and get

yourself back in the game and leave yourself exposed. Salford have been

disciplined. Just a couple of minutes after being dumped from the

seat of his pants on the halfway line, the perfect response for

that Salford are more committed, they have better quality. They have

plan. Does that say a lot about Salford, the standard of League 2?

leagues. The quality is there. They usually get more fatigue. As soon as

the fatigue comes in, the decision-making and the quality of

the passing is not there. Salford are fit team, that when coming to

play. You both use quality to describe Danny Webber's play. Clear

tactical plan how to best use them. You have to give credit to the

managers. When they played against Notts County, Notts County were

smaller, they put it into the areas, getting second balls. The back four

for Hartlepool are huge. They are not using that Hackett, -- tactic.

Danny Webber is getting into the corners, turning them. Running them

towards their own goal. They are getting the rewards. The chances

coming in, all coming from the initial game plan. Getting them

turns, getting them running into the channels. Ronnie Moore said the back

four would be important. It has been proved that way. They have stood up

to be counted. Not like they are not battling. The Salford, the key

thing, can they maintain that level of intensity? In terms of the

The bigger picture for Hartlepool is staying in the Football League. He

did a good job, Ronnie Moore when he came in. To a great achievement

because the position Hartlepool were in, they were dead and buried in

many people's eyes. Ronnie Moore, with all his experience. An

excellent manager he has been. He has kept them in the Football

been on the field. They look more decisive and positive moving
