Second Round Draw The FA Cup

Hello and welcome to West London for the draw for the second round of the

FA Cup. We are at the home of civil service football club. 20 ties will

be drawn out in just over ten minutes time. This is the perfect

venue for the draw tonight. To explain why I have two gentlemen

with me. Ian Hunter, former president Neil Ward, then-President.

Just explain why does so appropriate be here tonight. The most important

thing for us, this is the spiritual home of the associated football and

the FA Cup. We are the sole surviving founder members of the

Football Association and we were in the first ever draw in 1871. So

those 11 clubs that set it up, you are the only one to survive. We are.

And links with this country have been explained but you also have

links across Europe. We have, we toured extensively in the early 20th

century, to Bavaria, Spain, Prague. We became associate members of Slava

Prague. In one memorable weekend in September 1924 we played Real Madrid

on two occasions and keep them on both occasions. But they did not

necessarily have their first team out that day! I would still take

it! And there are also well connections with the club. Past and

present. In the past on this very ground, we have been here now for 90

years, it was opened by King George to huge crowds at the time. And just

two years ago we played at Buckingham Palace. Hosting a league

game was dubbed that was hosted by Prince Willian. And as to play again

as part of the anniversary celebrations. Thank you for hosting

us. So the draw is in around ten minutes. Let's just take a look back

at the first round starting with the action from yesterday. Good

afternoon and welcome to a special edition of final score. For the

first round of the Emirates FA Cup. There has been a red card. Yeovil

Town ten to ten men. A sending off and they are in trouble. Sam

Deering, his cross. Mills at the back post. It has given Whitehall a

sixth minute lead. Chesham United if they win the Bristol Rovers it will

be the biggest shock of the weekend. Toby Liddle had a free kick from the

edge of the penalty area. Just clicked the top of the crossbar. To

St James' Park. Newport County, league two. Whitehawk Ruby on their

way to round two. What a story this could be. It is all about Robinson.

Lovely finish. Let's go to the Memorial Stadium. A penalty for

Chesham. Saved by Lee Nichols in the Bristol Rovers goal. Bad news for

the non-league side as they trail by two goals to nil. They are heading

into round two at the moment. A big goal at the Gallagher Stadium. The

warden missed the ball. It was 1-nil. The goalkeeper has been sent

off. Let's go to St James' Park. A goal from Luke Graham. 2-1. This is

turning out to be sensational down on the Sussex coast. At the Memorial

Stadium this has happened. The non-league side in front. With 12

minutes left to play we could have a big shock. Inside the last minute of

the 90. Tom Mills with a chance to cross. It is in! But offside. It

will not count. Fantastic climax to this game. Curtis McDonald with the

late equaliser. Sam Deering to make it five. He has! A famous day for

Whitehawk. Through to the second round of the FA Cup. Chesham the FA

Cup heroes. They have overcome Bristol Rovers.

Let's get some reaction to the results yesterday. Starting with

Chesham first of all. Was that emotional, for you? It was my first

pro club so going back and getting the crowd from both sides behind me,

yes. Playing as well as coaching. Did anything about the performance

of the team surprise you? We had a game plan and we stuck to it. The

boys carry it out but we were tired after the game. They still managed

to bounce up and down! FA Cup pedigree in your family, we will

come to that in a minute. But when the penalty was missed what were you

thinking as a team? We were still in the game, we had to pick ourselves

back up and go again. And luckily we got the goal we needed in the second

half. What was the biggest difference? I think the speed at

which they moved the ball and fitness levels as well. There used

to training full-time and we are a semiprofessional club and do not

train full-time. And the FA Cup pedigree comes with your dad? He

saved a penalty, that is where it comes from. It has been in the

family for a while. This is the moment for Nick not dad! Well let's

talk about Whitehawk. Plenty of thrillers like that this season? We

had some good games but that was something else. Being in front and

thinking, that is it, we can relax. Then they came again, we scored and

they came again. What would you say to people watching who do not know a

great deal about Whitehawk? Well they were in the County league six

years ago. A few businessmen got together to put the club together.

And Darren Freeman took the club through divisions to the Conference.

They were struggling near the bottom of the Conference and I came in and

kept them up that season. Now you're into the second round. We lost in

the play-off finals last year. And Kevin, last year I spoke to you when

you managed Wrexham and played Stoke. So there at the goal for

you? It would be lovely, we have got to get past import but delighted and

looking forward to next year with Brackley Town. We will talk about

post-all is well. Focusing now on the ties on Saturday. 38 in total

with some impressive results. More than 2500 fans packed into Moss

Lane as Altrincham played host to Barnsley. Barnsley playing from left

to right in the second half. Crowther might go all the way! It is

in! Damian Reeves, Altrincham at it again in the FA Cup. Blocked

initially. Now a challenge. Abruptly scrum inside the area. Altrincham

somehow escape. That is it! 21 years old, Altrincham FA Cup giant killers

once again. Another League one National League class for Eastleigh

travel to crew. A ball over the top. The goalkeeper comes out. It is a

foul and it looks like there will be a red card. It is a red card!

Lafayette tries to get there. Confusion in the defence. The

penalty has been given! And Eastleigh score! A historic win

against League one crew. They have only gone and done it. Northwich

Victoria welcome Boreham Wood. The home crowd were confident. The

manager hopeful. Showing the confidence was Jordan Williams who

had a superb free kick to put Northwich Victoria ahead. But they

could not hold out. Junior Moret sprinted clear to equalise. Victoria

the lowest ranked side left in the competition. 50 basis separate

Stourbridge and Dover. -- places. It is a goal for Stourbridge! The

header is going to go in! It is in! Was just 20 minutes left Mitch

Walker was sent off. Crawley scores! Stourbridge head into the

second round of the FA Cup. The draw coming up in around five

minutes. Let's talk to some representatives from Eastleigh. The

manager and the goal-scorer. We're having a good season. It a tough

league and always nice to have a bonus in the FA Cup. Are you

thinking third round? Well we know it is going to be tough whoever we

get next. And you lost your shirt in the melee at the end. We managed to

get it back. You got that back and the club secretary has got it. Let's

talk about Forest Green Rovers. You got the winning goal, Elliott. You

are top of the National League and you could be the club that every

league opposition does not want to face. We have done really well so

far this season. We did well on Saturday and got that when which is

good. Do you think everything is set up for league football? I think so,

the work everyone has put in at the club, the last few years were well

positioned for a league side. We will speak to all at the end and

find out who you got in the second round draw in a couple of minutes.

First a reminder of how Friday night went. Other weekend kicked off in

Salford. -- how the weekend. 59 places between them. One game,

That was a long way. Welcome to King 's house sports

ground in west London, the home of civil service football club, for the

draw for the second round of the FA Cup. The Emirates FA Cup. This is a

club steeped in football history. It was one of the 11 founding members

of the FA back in 1863. Played in the first-ever FA Cup. And twice has

beaten Real Madrid and Barcelona and had its grounds opened by royalty

back in 1926. There are 20 times to be drawn this evening. Northwich

Victoria who took Boreham Wood to a replay, are the lowest ranked team

in the draw. Also keep an eye out for Chesham, Salford and

Stourbridge. With me to conduct the draw we have Garth Crooks and James

Kellett. James is the president of the civil service FC and he has been

involved with the club for more than 30 years. In 1981 Garth Crooks

scored the crucial equalising goal against Manchester city in a

replay. That goal is rarely seen on television! But I did it tonight.

Spurs did it again the following year, Garth Crooks once again

leading the line but when Hoddle securing the victory. You are in

charge of the ball. Deadeye year before we went on air

that you actually played at this great club -- did I hear? Against

them. And you got sent off? Did you pay a fine? I did, and they are

rather expensive in amateur football and there is a six-week ban as well.

You cannot appeal yellow cards either. Make sure, as I always say,

that every one is out. Are you sure? Yes. James will draw the home

teams. Give them a stir first, and away we go. Number 18. That is

Aldershot Town or Bradford City. They were held 0-0 over the weekend.

Number four. They will be at home to Chesham United. Barry's team is

second out of the hat! Number three, Barnet, they put Blackpool out over

the weekend, winning 2-0, 17th in League 2. Number 11. They will be at

home to Brackley Town or Newport County. Number one. Peterborough,

you have to go back about 50 years for their best FA Cup run.

Peterborough will be at home. Number 25. They will be at home to Luton

Town. They will be going to London Road. Number 21. That is Portsmouth.

There are win on Saturday was their first since beating Tottenham

Hotspur is in the 2010 semifinals. Number 34. They will be at home to

Accrington Stanley. Number 15. Number 15... Stourbridge, in round

two for the first time in the club's history, having knocked Dover out at

the weekend. Number eight. They will be at home to Eastleigh. Sturridge

of the Northern Premier against Eastleigh. -- Stourbridge.

Northampton Town will be at home to Northwich Victoria or Boreham Wood.

Number 27. Exeter City, getting past Didcot town on Sunday. Number two.

They will be at home to Port Vale or Maidenhead United, they need a

replay after the 94th minute equaliser there. Number five...

Cambridge United. Richard money has left the club over the last week but

they are at home. 26. Kindred United will be at home to Doncaster Rovers

of League 1. Number 12... Grimsby Town. Number 30. They will be at

home to Shrewsbury Town. Number 31. Yeovil Town, they put Maidstone out

with nine men, as we saw earlier. Number 16. They will be at home to

Teddy Sheringham's Stevenage. Number 39. Rochdale, winners over Swindon

at the weekend. Number 20. Going to the League 1 side are Bury, who

knocked Wigan out in round one. Then number 23... Welling United. They

haven't got to the third round since 1989, and they will take on number

37, Carlisle United. Welling United against Carlisle United. Number 29.

Leyton Orient, 6-1 winners in the first round. Number 35. They will be

at home to Scunthorpe United. That went to the longest penalty shoot

out in cup history in last year's ground. Number 17 now, Millwall.

They were at home in the first round. They are at home again.

Number 24. They will play Wycombe Wanderers. Against Gareth

Ainsworth's Wycombe, League 1 against League 2. Number 40. That is

Colchester United. In the goals at the weekend, winning 6-2. Seven.

They will be at home to Altrincham. Another League 1 side for them after

they beat Barnsley. 38. That is FC United of Manchester, or

Chesterfield, who are playing tonight. Number 19. They will be at

home to the highest ranked side in the competition at this stage,

Walsall, the League 1 leaders. Number 22. Sheffield United, at home

again. They were at home in the first round. They got to the

semifinals two years ago. 26. They will be at home to Mansfield Town or

Oldham Athletic. They need to go to a replay. Number 14... Salford City.

At home again. Who will be going there are? Number 13. They will be

taking on... Hartlepool United, who got beaten in the second round by

Blyth Spartans last season. Number 28. Dagenham Redbridge, or

Morecambe. They need to go to replay after a goalless draw. Number 33.

They will take on Whitehawk. Whitehawk will take on Dagenham

Redbridge, or Morecambe. One tie left. Number 32. Braintree --

Braintree Town or Oxford United. 36. They will play Forest Green Rovers.

Braintree Town or Oxford United, against Forest Green Rovers. So

the second round of the FA Cup will be played from the fourth to the 7th

of December. Let's recap. The 20 matches that make up the second

round draw. We have representatives from

Eastleigh here and they will go to star bridge, as Grimsby take

Shrewsbury, another one standing out -- Stourbridge. Carlisle United got

that when at Plymouth in the first round and they know have to go to

Welling United of the National League. Altrincham, having put out

Barnsley, they now have to take the trip away to take on Colchester

United. The League 1 leaders Walsall, if United get through

against Chesterfield, that will be a tough task for Walsall.

The leaders of the National league take on Braintree or Oxford. Some

cracking cup ties for you there. If you have missed any of the

way, so if Bradford can see of Aldershot, you have your wish? For

sure. I was a bit surprised, the second hole-mac out. We will look

forward to -- ball. -Is the man to blame. Chris, Eastleigh next. --

Chris is the man. That game is winnable. The FA Cup is difficult

whoever you play so we will give it our best shot and hopefully get to

the third round. What is the different challenge for you? At

Crewe, you would be the giant killers, but here, you will be there

to be shot at, want you? Yes, that is the difficulty we will have to

face. We have to make sure the players are mentally right and

prepared, which they will be, the top professionals -- won't you? You

have a replay to get a first you can think ahead to Barnet, is that what

you will tell me? Yes. Don't see that. A second League 2 side. it

will be tough. as you said, got that one to get through. barnet, i have

been there last year. If we can get through and stay in the hat we will

do our very best. What do you see when you are down in a cup tie like

that? The wind at their backs in the first, as in the second. We always

felt if we could get a goal and take them out of the comfort zone, which

we did, we had a chance and an opportunity but I never really saw

that goal coming at the end, to be honest. It was out of nothing and

again, the magic of the FA Cup, you are here, you live to fight another

day. When did you ask him what he was doing there are? Added. We were

just joking everybody forward -- I did. Chucking everybody forward. I

am sure he will be deleted you said that on national television. It

looked like you two could have been playing each other. Forest would

have been very difficult. I know the manager at Dagenham, they are, so a

decent pie, but we will go there and give anyone our game on the day.

They have had a difficult season, Dagenham Redbridge, haven't they?

Yes, and we have players who can play at that level and above so we

will be full of confidence. They have to get past Morecambe if they

are going to do it. And Braintree or Oxford for you? Braintree always a

tough place to go in our league and Oxford are busily doing well and

there is as well. We will go their full of confidence on Saturday.

Would you prefer the weak side and somebody in your division? Yes, kind

of, to be honest, but we just want to get through this round and see

the big Premier League sides in the next round. Do you think this will

give you momentum? Wigan breeds confidence or if we keep winning in

the cup and the league, we will be all right. Thank you all for coming
