Sixth Round Highlights The FA Cup

Time now to move on to the action from the Emirates FA Cup

quarterfinals, with action from all these four coming up.

We'll start with the holders - Arsenal at home to Watford,

Arsenal went on to win the cup after their last meeting with Watford in

this competition, 14 years ago. Watford fans, some of them, will

remember there are victory over Arsenal at Highbury in 1987. Arsenal

go with a strong side. They are looking to reach a record 29th

semifinal. Watford have not gone further than this since 2007.

Pantilimon is a very late replacement for Heurelho Gomes.

Behrami gets his first FA Cup appearance for the club.

Giroud, offside! Arsenal's Jory joy, short lived. Sanchez coming in off

the line. Giroud denied his 21st goal of the season. Defensively,

Watford look a little rocky. Elneny towards Giroud. Who has won it back.

Gabriel had to come in - and that is a strong challenge. Watford are

fuming. Really strong challenge. Both of them went for it. He played

the ball, but was it a two footed challenge? Oh, that is dangerous. I

think that is excessive force. I think that is a red card. But look

at the referee's positioning. In my mind that should have been a yellow

at least and probably a red. It is an Arsenal corner, the first

final score for Arsenal. Giroud is also there. Away by Troy Deeney.

Towards Elneny! The goalkeeper hesitated! And Elneny has missed

horribly. Had he squared it, he might have been thinking that they

would all be offside. But it was an awful finish.

Watford on the counter. Troy Deeney waiting for it in the middle. And it

is a terrible pass by Ighalo. His strike partner was in on goal! Look

at this. Frustrated with himself. His manager must be tearing his hair

out. He has lost his confidence, Ighalo, as the goals have dried up

for him. Wins the ball. Prodl goes to ground,

gets a touch on the ball. Arsenal's unbeaten run in this competition

goes back all the way to 2012-13. Mesut Ozil fizzes it in, looking for

Campbell...! Over it goes! They have created and missed another.

work here for the cup holders. There might be moments in this long

unbeaten run in the competition. Hull in the final in 2014 could have

gone horribly wrong, when they started so poorly. Calum Chambers,

and Watford are ahead at the Emirates! They have played a cagey

game. They waited and waited until the moment. And beanie beat two

Arsenal players in the air to head it on. And then Gabriel allowed

Ighalo to turn. Really poor defending by Arsenal.

9000 Watford rupees are singing and dreaming of Wembley.

Ake has it. Giroud is chasing him. Ighalo! Could have been two! Some of

these Arsenal players have to take a long look at themselves. They have

under half an hour to rescue their season. They are surely out of the

running for the league. Barcelona away, needing to score three? This

is it for them, this competition. And they are second-best at the

moment. Giroud, hits Pantilimon! He got lucky, the big old 'keeper.

Fortune favours the brave. Giroud, unlucky. Time ticks away. Arsenal's

hopes of becoming only the third team to win the FA Cup three years

in a row... Mertesacker, is he strong enough to

deal with Troy Deeney? 2-0! Rocket past a hesitant Ospina! And

Arsenal's long, long unbeaten FA Cup run is coming to an end. And this

was an absolute Qualter overdrive. Ospina, beaten at his near post by

the sheer power. But would Petr Cech have saved that? I think the answer

is - more probably. Ahead of here for the Gunners would change

everything. Chambers, Giroud! Brilliant defending. Just nicked

away by the Northern Ireland international Cathcart. It has been

a fantastic season and this would it for Watford, a trip to Wembley. --

and this would cap it for Watford. Too many numbers in there. Chambers.

Walcott onside. Deflected... And wide! It is a corner kick. And when

Arsenal see moments like that, do they start to think it is going to

be one of those days? Gibbs, Welbeck... Sanchez.

Welbeck scores! Have Arsenal got enough time to save their defence of

the FA Cup, and their season? Three minutes to go. Lovely give and go

and a really sweet finish from a tight angle. Danny Welbeck has

breathed new life into this tie of surely they can't do it... Sanchez!

Iwobi, off the post! Gibbs! Welbeck, it is wide! Impossibly wide! So

unlucky with the first shot. This has to go in! A glaring miss, and

the holders are on the brink of going out. Four minutes of stoppage

time. Forward by Coquelin. Wide again! And Arsenal fans will say,

why didn't he start? He has made a real difference. Coquelin releases

Gibbs. Prodl gets it away. The referee checks his watch. Gibbs with

the throw. Watford are at Wembley and Arsenal's long run in the FA Cup

comes to an end. It is the end of their long, long success in this

competition. And it might well herald the end of an era.

Strange, because it has come to an end on a day when we felt that our

performance deserved a win. But let's give credit to Watford for

their few chances, they took them all. But overall we put a decent

performance in and it is sad, because we gave everything. I am

really happy for my players and for the fans. It is an amazing prize for

the fans who have followed us all year. I thought we deserved it. We

stuck to the game plan quite well. The counter-attacked well. We had

opportunities in the first half which we did not take. Second-half,

two chances, two goals. Who do you want in the semifinal? Palace. Why

not? Any team. I think it is going to beer great day to go there.

Another win, why not? I agree with Troy Deeney 100%. He said about

Arsene Wenger saying that they had had a 70% possession today, but they

have not done enough to go and win the game. Watford today had a good

game plan. They tried to force Arsenal into wide, crossing

positions continuously. They defended between the goals really,

really well. Arsenal kept on crossing the ball into good areas,

but they did not have bodies in the right areas, did not get bodies

forward quick enough. But I thought it was quite any less from Arsenal.

This was really the best of the chances they had in the first half.

Did not really cause Watford to many problems, I did not feel. This was a

great chance from Ake, but he is in a position to do that. He is able to

prevent it going on goal. This was Nyom, brilliant defending, getting

himself in a good position. It is the awareness which is excellent, I

felt. We spoke about Aston Villa not defending as a team, the full-backs

being wide. And here we can see the full-backs narrow, defending as a

team, defending as a unit. That is what this performance has been based

on. Half-cocked there, fantastic challenge. When you play Arsenal,

you know they will try to come through the middle of you. --

Cathcart there. So you back yourself to defend the width? Yes, which is

what they have done. They have said, we are going to give you the ball

out wide and say to you, go on, cross it, you have got one man in

the box and we fancy ourselves to defend it. And they did. So, compare

and contrast. It is what Deeney said - they had a game plan, but they

also tried to hit them on the counterattack. We have look at the

linkup play between Deeney and Ighalo throughout this season. This

was Ighalo in a good position. It is a poor pass at the end of it. Ighalo

gets wrong side of the Arsenal defenders - poor pass. He knows it.

But this goal said it all. Arsenal do not get themselves in position.

Sanchez needs to get himself back in there. It is still 0-0 at this

stage. Deeney just outmuscles the two of them. Then Gabriel gets

around the defender to finish. This is not look, getting into a good

wide position, brilliant downward header from Deeney creating another

opening. And this is where the goal comes from. Ighalo helps it into an

area. Again, the hold-up play from Deeney freeze it up - and it is a

brilliant strike. I would not question the goalkeeper so much

there. I would question the defender turning his back on it. Arsenal were

not in the game until the substitution. Yes, it was too

little, too late. It is strange with Arsenal were they go from Tibi of

course,, was ashen football, and then when they are chasing the game,

they end up launching it and actually they get some joy from it.

What about the Gabriel tackle? I actually thought it was a red card.

I look at it a few times. Andre Marriner is in a perfect position.

It looks like it is a wholehearted challenge between two players. But

it is two footed, it is reckless. I think it is a red card. If you

contrast it yesterday with Mane's red card, Lee Mason was guessing

because he did not seek it. There is an argument it is a yellow

card. It is a committed challenge, it is an FA Cup quarterfinal, it is

important to set a marker. It is a full-blooded, committed challenge,

probably a yellow card, I like to see tackling in football!

Manchester United were knocked out by Arsenal at Old Trafford

Could West Ham do the same this year?

COMMENTATOR: After their defeat at Anfield, Manchester United's Euro

referendum is looking more out than in so the FA Cup might be a last

chance to salvage something from the season but nobody can match West Ham

on current form, five wins and a draw in their last six. Manchester

United have not won the FA Cup since 2004 but they have won their last

four games here. West Ham recall Winston Reid and Andy Carroll.

Darren Randolph is the preferred cup keeper and Slaven Bilic is sticking

with him. The 132nd meeting between Manchester United and West Ham

United, the very first was an FA Cup game in 1911 which West Ham won 1-0.

Good control and a good ball to Emenike! A shake of the head from

David de Gea. The beginning of a fist pump from Slaven Bilic as

Carroll played him in, it was a chance for Emenike and Bilic knows

it. West Ham FA Cup winners in 1980, Trevor Brooking and all that, but

they have only reached two semifinals since. Noble finding

and if Creswell can keep delivering, Carroll will keep getting on the end

of them. It was a good ball and he met it really well, didn't quite get

over it enough. One manager stays firmly in his seat while the other

almost never takes his seat. Noble, he wriggled between two beautifully,

away towards Payet, Creswell on the overlap and Payet users him. Here is

Emenike! Great chance, really good West Ham move. Emenike couldn't

finish it but lovely movement from Noble and Creswell did brilliantly.

Emenike with a free header which he has put straight into the gloves of

David de Gea. It deserved better. Suspended, Juan Mata, Ashley Young

just in front of him, Borthwick Jackson is there. Martial, in

towards Rojo, he pulled it back to Herrera! Take nothing away from

Aaron Cresswell because he made it tough for Herrera. It was good from

Manchester United, watch Creswell. He made it difficult for Herrera who

snatched at it and it was a wild finish. Lindegaard, now Varela,

Lindegaard on the return, was he touched by Payet? Free kick given

and a yellow card for Dimitri Payet. It was a flowing, quick, incisive

counter. Payet goes into the book. Is this the breakthrough they have

been waiting for? Martial did well to get over that, the shouts for

handball more from the crowd than the players. The longer it is 0-0,

the more you feel a single goal might put one of these teams into

the semifinal. Deep cross, taken away by Antonio, important touch.

Martial. Left by Rashford, Parreira. Reid blocked it but what with? A big

shout, Reid hurled himself at it, the ball hit his arm was my view.

No, if it comes off your side onto your arm, you can't give that. --

off your thigh. Noble. Payet, nicely around Fellaini, was he caught? The

referee is not interested, Martin Atkinson says no. Everybody in

claret and blue says yes, not least Dimitri Payet. Martin Atkinson said

no penalty. Rojo slides in and for me that it's a good decision. There

was a slight touch but Payet was on his way before contact was made and

I think Martin Atkinson has made an excellent decision. Fellaini got his

foot in, Blind is there. Payet goes down, free kick given. He got hold

of his arm, Daley Blind. This is almost 30 yards out. The West Ham

fans have a great view of this at that end. Dimitri Payet. It is

brilliant! That is fantastic from Dimitri Payet! And West Ham are

leading at Old Trafford with an extraordinary free kick from their

man of the season, Dimitri Payet! What a strike. Not just any

goalkeeper he has beaten, it is David de Gea. That is magnificent.

It is unsaveable. Dimitri Payet has scored some beauties this season but

that might be the daddy of them all. Dimitri Payet, West Ham celebrate

and they are 22 minutes away from the FA Cup semifinal. Louis Van Gaal

looking very glum. You know what would happen in the old days,

Manchester United would pummel West Ham into submission and probably win

it with two goals in the 98th minute. Herrera. Nicely clipped and

into the back of the net! They have found the goal through Martial! A

lifeline! Anthony Martial from the tightest of angles and it is 1-1.

More than just an equaliser, it might almost be salvation, we will

see. It was well worked, Parreira did ever so well, lovely clipped

ball and Martial got their -- Herrera. Sakho was beaten at the

back post by the hunger of Martial and it is 1-1. Seven minutes left.

As this came in, have a look at Randolph, impeded by Schweinsteiger

and ending up in his own net. The German has taken the goalkeeper out

of the game. Memphis. Lanzini overran that, Schweinsteiger

went into the Challenge Tour McCarrick can hit it and it is a

foot wide -- into the challenge, Carrick can hit it. It just curled

away a bit too much. A minimum of three added minutes. Antonio for

want to spoil the game by talking about the referee, it was hard for

him but there were two crucial decisions. A penalty on Dimitri

Payet, that is a penalty, Rojo slides in, nowhere near the ball,

not nasty but missed timing. And the equaliser, an obvious foul from

Schweinsteiger on Randolph. I can imagine that he says that. I think

his own defender pushes Schweinsteiger and I'm happy my

players could show their spirit again, especially after a very nasty

week. Was that the best free kick you have scored? TRANSLATION: Yes,

it was the best, especially in this stadium which I have a particular

affection for because it is one of the best in the Premier League. It

is a good day for me. It will be difficult in the replay because

everybody knows what a terrific season they are having. Yes, the

same today, they are a good team with terrific talent. It is a tough

place to go anyway, we know that, but it is an even game and we will

go there believing we can get through. I fancy us because we will

was on a yellow card, Payet, I disagree with Slaven Bilic. I think

he has dived and he is lucky not to get a second yellow. There is

virtually no contact. It is when Payet is beyond Rojo and he kicks

his leg back into him. It was the same with Delaney at Selhurst Park

last week, the defender is to stay on his feet and he gives Payet the

opportunity but it is not a penalty. This was ten minutes later, he

leaves his leg in. He knows he has a chance of getting it outside the

We have to give a bit of praise to the goal itself and what Martial did

to get into position. He holds it up, gets it out wide but he doesn't

stand still. He gets himself into the area, great ball from Ander

Herrera and he makes up the ground but it is a foul on Randolph. We

talked about it earlier with Harry Kane, good strikers finding space.

If that is outside the box, the referee has to give that. Antonio

tries to step across but two wrongs don't make a right, it was a foul on
