For well over a century, West Ham have been playing

here at the Boleyn Ground, but next season

the Hammers are moving home to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford,

so tonight's the last ever FA Cup game here.

Manchester United are the illustrious visitors

with the last place in the FA Cup semifinals to be booked tonight.

Both West Ham and Manchester United are still in the hunt

for European places in the league, but these players know that success

in the Emirates FA Cup could put a winning gloss on the season.

the Hammers were in touching distance of the semifinals.

Dubbed the 132nd meeting between Manchester United and West Ham

United. West Ham free kick, Dimitri Payet, that is brilliant, fantastic

from Dimitri Payet, and West Ham lead adult rabbit! Herrera, they

have found the goal through Martial! 1-1 at Old Trafford,

which means a last chance for some Cup football here at

a packed Boleyn Ground tonight, and hopefully a proper East End

send-off to this grand old stadium. and a former favourite of the manor,

Joe Cole. A very special occasion. It is a

massive occasion, the crowd look up for it, I am really looking forward

to the game, I think West Ham are going to do it. Dove game Joe Cole,

Alan? I am going to go for West Ham, because the last game at Upton Park,

the fans are up for it, the atmosphere is electric. Some very

good players have been bought into the team, I am going to go for West

Ham. You played with him at Lille, did you spot his talent? Eden Hazard

was there at the time, so it was almost as if he was like a magnet,

Eden took all the free kicks, so I knew he was quality, but to go and

do what he has done, it has took him a little bit longer. He has been

sensational, as have other West Ham players. There is Andy Carroll,

Patrick at the weekend. Berry good performance, goals at the weekend,

he will be keen tonight. If they get the ball wide like they did at the

weekend, get some quality balls in, he is at times and playable. He will

fancy his chances against the Manchester United centre halves.

This is huge for Manchester United and Louis van Gaal in particular. FA

Cup and top four finish would be enough for most clubs, but not for

Louis van Gaal. Sometimes it does not work, with legends behind you,

it is very difficult to get it back, and whether they are not buying into

his philosophy, they owe him a performance tonight. You think West

Ham are going to do it? West Ham, yes.

The kick-off is imminent, so time to hear

from our commentary team of Martin Keown and Steve Wilson.

This is the 156th and last FA Cup game at Upton Park, a semifinal for

the winners against Everton in ten days' time is the prize. We are

starting early, but I have got a sneaking suspicion we might be

finishing late tonight as these two try to get themselves into the last

four of the Cup. Roger East is the man in black, Manchester United in

white and black, West Ham United in claret and blue from right-to-left

in the first 45 minutes. Great noise at the Boleyn Ground, anticipation

all day in east London about this game. The fans and supporters are

like a 12th man at this club, they have been here for many a cup tie,

the players seem to go up an extra gear in the night games. The

floodlights are on already, holds tight for a very fast ride, because

this is going to be some game tonight. Their heaviest defeat,

Manchester United, 3-0 at Arsenal and 3-0 at Spurs. That was only an

Sunday. Fortunately, their bus driver knew how to get them to Upton

Park and time tonight. Michael Carrick certainly knows his way, he

started his career here for West Ham.

Carrick being closed down by Lanzini, a lot of talk, and rightly

so, about Payet this season, but I also think Lanzini has been a

magnificent find for West Ham. Here is Fellaini. Somebody rather rightly

said in the press that it is not often that a game is crying out for

Marouane Fellaini, but this might be one.

That is going to be the first corner kick of the game. Characters getting

back into defend. -- Carrick. Great ball by Antonio, getting the

overlap, this West Ham team really push on. Ogbonna, one of the goal

threats, scored a late goal in next time against Liverpool in the Cup

here earlier in the season, in a fourth-round replay. In comes the

corner kick, Antonio with the flick at the near post. Roger East is

waiting for guidance from his assistant on the far side, and when

he gets it, it is a goal kick. Interesting to see who will pick up

Andy Carroll, we saw what he did at the weekend, wondering if Fellaini

might come in, Smalling had the role for that one. He will be buzzing at

the weekend, looking to get the ball to him at every opportunity.

Here is Ander Herrera for Manchester United, a way towards those immense,

taken off at White Hart Lane with a knock, but he is OK. -- towards

Fosu-Mensah. Carroll has gone down as he tried to close down Smalling,

but he seems OK. You never know how far he is away from injury, Andy

Carroll. A dangerous ball towards Rashford, headed away by Tomkins.

They have got good options in defence, Tomkins, very important

header, Rashford makes good moves, for such a young man, really

impressed with his contribution since he has come into the

Manchester United team. Andy Carroll, eighth minute hat-trick at

Arsenal at the weekend, and he scored more goals for West Ham than

from April 2013 to December 2014, which is a reflection of how many

injury problems he has had. When he is fit and on song, Martin... Yes,

he needs a run of games, though. In towards Valencia, also very good in

the air, despite not having the stature of Carroll physically.

Valencia is onside, Enner Valencia! That is a fairly tame effort from a

very good position. I think it is worrying as well, twice on the fans

he has got in behind the mass -- Manchester United defence, nobody

reacting to it. Pushing too high, nobody going with him, nothing on

the shot, but he is getting into good areas.

Here is Herrera, Carrick, Rashford here. Michail Antonio, another super

signing for West Ham. I think it is great to see, we have seen a few,

Leicester in particular, players coming up from the Championship or

below and looking very much at home in this league. Very definitely,

Antonio very powerful there, he has come a long way to get to the

Premier League, that is for sure. Manchester United have the throw in.

This is the ninth time, between these two sides in the FA Cup, they

have each one four and there have been two draws.

Roger East, the referee, is happy to allow Manchester United to continue.

It is good pressure, isn't it? Putting the goalkeeper under

pressure. Noble looking to turn Smalling, and Smalling fouled him.

Well, I am fairly sure that somewhere am on the instructions

this weekend for Manchester United, do not concede free kicks near the

penalty area. He looks as though he is holding onto him as well. Do not

give him the opportunity to down. They have got one of the best

headers in the game in Andy Carroll, potentially meeting a free kick from

one of the best set piece layers, Payet on the ball, Carroll in the

middle. It is a lethal combination. Hard dealt with, the clearing header

not yet there from Manchester United. Carrick to Martial. Lovely

turn from Martial, lovely interchange with Rashford.

Is that another free kick? It is, Payet down this time, Fosu-Mensah

with the foul. You don't want to be giving away free kicks in these

sorts of areas. Yeah, he just dived in, Payet's feed are so quick.

Terrific player, the young Dutch defender, midfielder. The exuberance

of youth. Trying to keep those players out of

the box, that is what they are looking to do, Manchester United.

Payet will deliver this right footed.

In fact, he has tried to beat De Gea at his near post. Easy save for the

Spaniard. Just keeping him honest, isn't he? You think I am going for a

cross, I might just whip it in at the near post. You have to start

thinking about Dimitri Payet being up there in the very top echelon of

set piece taker is that we have seen in the Premier League, with Ronaldo,

Matt Le Tissier, people like that. It is amazing, what he is aiming to

do. You know what he is going to do, you just cannot stop him. Do not

give him too many opportunities. It is the way they play, they test you.

Marcos Rojo with is throwing for Manchester United. Much of the games

so far has been played in their half, but without any great alarms

to De Gea, although Valencia might have done better with a clear

opening. Quite happy to be safe in

possession, and they? That is a free kick. Noble, there is a vociferous

campaign from West Ham fans to get him into the England team, but I do

not think it is can to happen in time for the summer.

Wayne Rooney is amongst the substitutes tonight for Manchester

United, he played an hour on Monday in an under-21s game at Old

Trafford, a 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough. Phil Jones also

played in that game, working his way back from injury - he is not

involved tonight, the defender. Fosu-Mensah under pressure from

Payet. He could not quite take advantage of the slip.

Good header on from Kouyate and Lanzini is onto it. Lanzini, here, a

lovely, delicious little reverse ball in for Noble but did not quite

reach his team-mate. Great imagination. That is what he does. I

think he's a super Blair. Yes, right in the heart of the team, that

little bit of inventiveness that you have to expect.

Ogbonna to Cresswell. Payet. Staying very wide so far, Payet. Lanzini.

Again, Dimitri Payet. That is nice. Lanzini tried to go

through Fosu-Mensah and that was not going to happen. It is a West Ham

throw in. Good tackle but good play. You talk about the West Amway, the

fans really warmed to the one touch football, imagination, skill on the

ball, it is all there. Fosu-Mensah is going to have his hands full

tonight at right back. He looks a bit nervous as well, doesn't he?

Early on. It is a goal from Cresswell. They have got some left

side on them, with Cresswell and Payet and Lanzini joining down the

side. Another great flick from Payet, wasn't it? West Ham, enjoying

the possession so far. Enner Valencia. Tomkins infielder Lanzini.

But that is a poor touch. Martial taking on Antonio, who

dispossessed him easily. When you think at the start of the season

with Jenkinson, Antonio is playing there like a seasoned writeback.

Payet, forward to Cresswell. This is Lingard, back defending for

Manchester United. Valencia. Well anticipated by

Ogbonna, cutting it out ahead of Rashford. Mark Noble running into

Fellaini, cleanly won by the Belgian and a decent ball to Martial. Ander

Herrera in a great position but well played by Ogbonna. They leave you

chances, don't they, West Ham? We saw that at the weekend with

Arsenal. Their full-backs push up so high.

Lanzini, just crowded out by sheer weight of numbers. Fellaini, look at

the danger, Martial to his left. Rashford. Getting the shot away and

it was deflected for a corner. But I'm not surprised that Martial is

disappointed to fill any's left because you was ignored. Antonio was

way up the pitch, as is Cresswell, almost two against two but he does

not work it well enough. It is high risk football from West Ham.

So, this is Blind with Manchester United's first corner.

The Bobby Moore Stand, all the supporters on their feet behind the

goal. As the free kick comes in, cleared away by Tomkins. Valencia

chasing. All the way back to the Heyer. -- to de Gea. Hard work from

Valencia and again, they love that here. You can play but they want you

to work hard and give everything for the team. He has got a brilliant

spring on him as well, Valencia, if he arrives at the back post, he is a

threat in the air. It is interesting, the two managers are

such a contrast. Slaven Bilic, every little nuance of the game causes him

to gesture and almost wriggles about in the technical area whereas of

course, as we know, Louis Madaule sits there and writes notes. It is

like he sat in library, Van Gaal. -- Louis van Gaal sits there. What is

in the book anyway? Rafa Benitez goes along with the same theory,

doesn't he? He gives very little away. He has certainly given youth

its chance, Van Gaal, whatever else you say about him which is in the

tradition of Manchester United, and they do have some very good young

players at the club. Well, that is what he might be remembered for. He

needs to do something, win a trophy, and the FA Cup is here to win. This

is the one, the last one. Payet. Wriggling into the box. Cleared away

by Smalling. It is surprisingly Manchester United have not won the

FA Cup since 2004 -- surprising that Manchester United. It is their

longest run without a win since they went from 1963, to 1977 without

winning the cup so this trophy is overdue, for them anyway.

Remarkable, isn't it? Randolph, in goal for West Ham who

has played throughout the cup campaign, the Republic of Ireland

international. Fosu-Mensah providing... A good ball

into Fellaini! Randolph over the bar with a terrific stop. It might have

flicked off Ogbonna as well. That was so simple but it opened up for

the Laney, here. It was an Fellaini gets on the back of Noble, takes up

a good position, no one picking him up and it takes a deflection so an

excellent save from the goalkeeper, look at that. It flicked off

Ogbonna, which might well have left Randolph beaten but it is a really

good stop. At the expense of a corner, taken by Blind.

Road Dogg, getting something on it but Antonio is there. -- Marcos

Rojo. And he's and running. Marcos Rojo is not going to catch him but

he made it easy for Michael Carrick with a heavy touch. He runs with a

freedom, doesn't he, Antonio? He also leaves a great big hole behind

him at times. Years not a full-back, not really a writeback. He is

filling in. Joey O'Brien has been cursed by injuries for a long time

and Carl Jenkinson, you mentioned earlier, has gone back to Arsenal

after a bad injury. That was a bit short for Randolph. Only went to

Fellaini. Manchester United are just beginning

to enjoy a greater share of possession in the last few minutes.

They are, with Carrick going deep and Fellaini higher up the pitch.

Tricky for the West Ham midfield to deal with it. Martial comes deep to

collect. Lingard. Fosu-Mensah. Lingard. Not quite sit down for him.

Cresswell in the end dispossessed in him and getting the free kick. --

dispossessing him. Another West Ham man who has had a fine season,

Cresswell. He loves to attack, doesn't he? A better period, though,

for Manchester United in their build-up.

There is one of the greats of West Ham United, Billy Bonds, the former

player and manager, FA Cup winning captain on two occasions. Great to

see him here, watching West Ham this evening. Sir Trevor Brooking is here

as well, of course. A great servant to the club, wasn't he, here? It is

also worth mentioning that Bobby Moore would have been 75 yesterday.

When I started my career, I spent two seasons working with Bobby Moore

right or the end of his life on radio. A player so connected with

this football club, and they are inspiration for the bubble to come

-- players to come, all of them. Rashford, oh, lovely, away from

Antonio, really good. Tomkins to the rescue. That is why he is exciting

people. It is his intelligence off the ball, as well, before he

receives this, great with his feet, the way he sidesteps onto his left

foot. Rate defending from Tomkins to stop them. Five goals in his first

ten Manchester United games is some start to a career. It is intelligent

movement, though, to receive the ball first. That is what impresses

me about him. Blind with the short corner. Ander Herrera. Carroll doing

a defensive job. Cresswell, up to a rather isolated

Valencia, who was jumping into his man.

West Ham, the last time they made this stage of the couple 2011 and

they lost a stone. Since 1980, when they beat Arsenal in the final, they

have played ten FA Cup quarterfinals and lost eight of them. Lingard.

It is a goal kick. It is a good ball initially from Herrera in the

midfield, just picking out little pockets in the midfield. Noble does

not want to go after Herrera. Kouyate, as well, is sitting deep.

They need to sort things out better in the midfield. I expect Slaven

Bilic to solve the problem. Randolph may well be the Republic of Ireland

goalkeeper this summer. Rob Elliot's unfortunate injury against the back

year in a friendly the other week has seen to that. The Laney.

Herrera. -- for a Laney. Mayor just behind Anthony Martial. Just a

question with Marcos Rojo, isn't it? Is quality on the ball, is the the

same ilk as players that have gone before him? Well, they have got

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson at the club, the young English prospect and

Luke Shaw, who has been out all season with a broken leg and

Fosu-Mensah can play left-back. So he will have some competition,

Marcos Rojo, when everyone is available. Cresswell. Kouyate. A

shout from the West Ham fans. Noble. The game just going through a

slightly cagey spell at the moment. They seem reluctant to put their

foot through the ball to Andy Carroll, don't they? They want to

pass on the back, West Ham. Tomkins with a great run, still going. No

one is stopping him. Carroll working hard. Downward header, Andy Carroll.

There was no one coming to meet it. Lanzini or Valencia might have done

but neither did. Tomkins has just recovered his position at the heart

of the defence after that run up the right wing. That is the difference,

there, Tomkins, under Slaven Bilic, he wants to run with the ball. He

does not just want to shifted forward to Carroll, which he might

have done under Sam Allardyce. -- shift it forward.

Antonio Dzindzaletaite the throw, down in front of what used to be

called the chicken run terracing. -- Antonio to take the throw. If you

took a throw in down the years, you could feel the breath on the back of

your neck from the fans, it was that close down there. It's not as close

as it used to be when they built the main stand that we and the cameras

are in. The pitch moved over towards this side a little bit. But when you

play here, you are always very much aware of the fans, that is for sure.

In the old days, they probably could have lent forward and pinch the back

of your neck as you were preparing to take the throw! Character Blind,

for Manchester United. -- Carrick to Blind. Martial coming very deep,

wants to run with the ball, Martial has a great change of pace and

glides when he gets going. Rashford did well under pressure. Marcos Rojo

with the ball into the box but Noble firmly away and Kouyate to Lanzini.

There is a pass onto Payet from Lanzini and this is it. Oh, and he

is knocked out of it by Carrick. This will be a card for Michael

Carrick. He suggested innocence but I think he knew what he was doing.

He's trying to say, "Where do you want me to go? I can't get out of

the way". Payet is too quick for him and Carrick has blocked him off. He

has taken one for the team. 159 games for West Ham, Michael Carrick.

He is asking the West Ham forward to push on a little bit. Just watching

Carroll's position from the free kick, he wants him in a wide

position. That is where he will be more effective, where he is now.

Smalling is with him. In it goes from Payet, the header rebound is,

Lanzini got right underneath it. Plenty of pace on the ball coming

in, he gets underneath it, you expect better from Lanzini. It is

all about technique, keeping your head down, over the ball. I thought

he might have finished it. 17 years ago tomorrow, Martin, remember the

goal at Villa Park? Unfortunately, I remember it like yesterday! Where

have all the years gone? I tackled him in my sleep the other night,

woke up and realised I hadn't! A few disgruntled West Ham fans with

that decision, Manchester United throw in. Look at the space Carrick

has got to pick a pass. That is the area, Steve, in behind

Antonio, just not the execution. Two Manchester United players pouring

into that hole. Tomkins looks as though he is limping. Yes. He came

off at half-time against Arsenal at the weekend, James Tomkins, and has

only just come back from a calf injury. James Collins is amongst the

substitutes tonight for West Ham united, who himself has had a

hamstring problem. Fosu-Mensah. Good persistence by Payet, a huge

favourite here. Years, but Fosu-Mensah did well there as well,

sticking to his task, only a young man. Neither goalkeeper has been too

troubled so far. If West Ham do go through, Slaven

Bilic will face another of his former clubs, of course, in the

semifinal, a former Everton defender.

Cresswell beating Lingard. Fosu-Mensah turning and turning,

looking at the referee, Roger East, but Roger East says, yes, free kick.

Fosu-Mensah is lucky there, he should just play the way he is

facing. A little bit of Vela that he, not much in that. -- a little

bit of a liberty. Came to Manchester from the Ajax academy. Here is

Carrick, good ball, but Delaney could not collect it. He has had the

chance of the game so far, Fellaini. He has, he keeps making runs, and

Carrick will pick him out if he has that kind of space. This is the

chance, a wonderful save, the flick off Ogbonna. The keeper is already

going, it has that extra on it. Just does enough to tip it over.

Carroll is going to find Valencia, who is in behind Blind, and that is

twice now that he has at a side of the goal and does not troubled the

Spanish keeper. He is a wide player, but he wants to get into central

positions. He is really very rapid. He would have struggled to beat him

from there. Clattered away by Antonio, returned by Rojo, Antonio

again. Here is Enner Valencia, Antonio.

Great scrap with Marcos Rojo. Lingard has got to be careful here.

Fosu-Mensah away, West Ham throw. Quickly taken.

That is a good ball, Lanzini was offside, that is a shame. That is a

great little run, isn't it? The flag went up immediately. Good line, they

get up well, Kouyate, great ball. Really impressed with him, very

probing, with the ball and without, intelligent runner with the ball.

Came to the Premier League from River Plate in Brazil, then the UAE

before he came to West Ham. Just one long ball, Antonio gets caught out,

and for me at times he is a bit suspect defensively. It is suddenly

pouring. Incomes that corner kick, but behind for another corner,

Kouyate. Totally committed, isn't he, Kouyate?

Fellaini, Martial, Smalling. So too is Ander Herrera. Lingard is lurking

from full-back. That is a powerful header from Carroll. Just giving

them that area to attack, it is working really well. Martial has

done well, Herrera wasn't really picked up. The block from Noble, now

the break. Kouyate held back by Carrick, who has already had a

yellow card. And he is being reminded of that fact! He certainly

is. Carrick will need to be careful. I do not think he can do much to get

out of the way of that one either. Roger East might just have a word in

his ear, yes, he did, as he ran past him.

Excellence chants for Lingard, good save! -- excellence chants. Then

given back to Fellaini. I think West Ham are going to get away with it,

Noble and Payet. That is a good ball. Good pace from Smalling.

Lingard, Herrera, oh flew away. It was two versus one at the side.

Grade chants for Lingard. Rashford does so well, the way he runs. Great

chance. They are leaving holes behind when they charge forward,

West Ham. Two big chances, they are a little bit lucky it is 0-0. They

are picking out their runs, picking out their passes, too much space.

Mistake from Fosu-Mensah, Cresswell, Carroll. Here is Kouyate. West Ham's

throw. It is hammering down, if you will

forgive the pun! A little bit of colour in the sky.

Valencia scrapping for it, that is a goal kick. It is good is defending.

It is Valencia, isn't it? Just showing that every West Ham player

wants to get back, wants to defend. I think Van Carl Wood be quite

pleased with what he has seen from his Manchester United team so far.

-- I think Van Gaal would be quite pleased. Slaven Bilic, who is a some

time guitarist, Kurt Cobain hat on. It is going to be a free kick to

West Ham. A triumphant night at Wembley. And Bilic when it was

pouring down and he was Croatia manager. -- at Wembley for Slaven

Bilic. Bringing an umbrella into a football ground is practically a

criminal offence now! Free kick to West Ham, seven minutes of this

first have to go. -- first half. Payet, of course, on this, very

central. Not able to conjure anything. Nothing in range for a

shot yet from Dimitri Payet, he did try to fool De Gea, but that was

ambitious. It is a waste, good opportunities in front of the

Manchester United goal. Heavy touch from Rojo, Michail

Antonio am a Manchester United throw. We don't often talk about De

Gea's ability to pick someone out. And other Manchester United throw.

Seems to be moving OK, Tomkins. Unusual, a poor touch, but he got

away with it. A run and now from Manchester United, intelligently

pulled back to Herrera. That was not far away! Another chance for

Manchester United. Yes, but really a half chance. Herrera was going to

hit this, but there is a deflection, he has to lay at off. Great

technique from Carrick, showing confidence from a long way out, but

he is not going to score from there. He hasn't scored yet this season,

Carrick. A lot resting on his shoulders tonight, he is the senior

man in that team. Yeah, more experience in this United side than

there has been in some games this season. There was one spell earlier

in the year when Van Gaal gave five or six Manchester United players

their debuts within the space of about a month, partly through

necessity, of course, with injury and what have you. It is bravery as

well. It is. Driven in nicely, if Rashford had

volleyed that, if he had caught it, it would have stood a chance of

being a glorious effort. It certainly would. Fosu-Mensah

whipping it in and Rashford pulling away, it just comes at him a bit too

quickly off the turf. Just skims off the ground.

Manchester United and West Ham have played twice this season already,

both games at Old Trafford and both drawn. Another free kick to West

Ham. I think it is a case of who is going to get their arm the highest?

This was a little barge and then the arm comes out from both of them. Is

that a fist? Well, Fellaini really struggles with control of his arms

and that crossed the line. He looked like Superman, there. Certainly the

correct decision and the free kick is played to Payet. Tomkins did well

to keep it in play. Herrera for Manchester United. Rojo chasing but

Ogbonna had a head start. He was on the bench in the Champions

League final last season for Juventus, Ogbonna. A bit too

tricksy. The same goes for Rashford, who loses out to Cresswell. It is a

West Ham throw. I think Slaven Bilic might be

slightly disappointed with the first half. I think he is unhappy with

Payet, there. Just a casual flick. Overplaying.

Carroll's flick to Payet. Cresswell. Valencia, looking for it. But too

high. Could not work out a way of bringing that down as it dropped

over his shoulder. I think we affected a bit more

threat from West Ham. We did. Manchester United have taken the

sting out of the game in the atmosphere brilliantly. The funny

thing is, Martin, every time you think that Van Gaal's goose is well

and truly cooked, Manchester United seem to come up with the result. We

saw them win at Manchester City the other week. They beat Arsenal when

he was under pressure. They won at Anfield earlier in the season when

he was, well, when isn't he under pressure? But it seems to be a

theme, he finds a result, which is often enough. I like the balance of

the teen star Sarah, Martial coming off from the side, him and Rashford

interchanging very well, Delaney finding space. -- the balance of the

team tonight. Even he can be more confident and look for some of these

Ray King diagonal passes. -- raked diagonal passes.

Fosu-Mensah. Nice turn from Herrera. Blocked by Cresswell and Ogbonna is

there. A foul by Fosu-Mensah on Lanzini.

Roger East is striding across. He has decided against getting a card

out of his pocket although I suspect it might have been a close decision.

Just the wrong decision from the young man. He's never going to win

that ball. He will learn that. Now he's calling him over, the referee.

He has decided that he wants to do more than just award a free kick but

not quite enough to get a card out. We are moving in to, well, we are in

a minimum of one added minute of stoppage time.

Oh, he seems to have got through the challenge and was then fouled by

Rojo. Roger East on the case again and there is just about time for

West Ham to create something from this free kick. Roger East is going

to get the card out this time. Marcos Rojo joins Michael Carrick in

the notebook. Well, we spoke about gay management. It is a silly free

kick to give away at this time. -- game management. No need. One minute

was indicated and we have played one and a half. Say we are literally

talking about seconds. -- so we are. Payet to take. Headed away by

Martial. Rashford should have dealt with that. Noble. Cut out by

Herrera. Sliding income Andy Carroll and now there is going to be another

yellow card. -- in, Andy Carroll. The first half is being extended by

a series of fouls and yellow cards. Use a sliding in but I think that is

very physical. We saw him do that at the weekend. He is making a habit of

it. He's scored in the 2012 FA Cup final for Liverpool, Andy Carroll,

as they were beaten by Chelsea. We are still no nearer knowing who is

going to make the 2016 semifinal. Marouane Fellaini saw a shot

superbly saved by Darren Randolph. Lingard, ditto. Randolph has done

well in the West Ham goal. At the other end, all fairly routine for

David de Gea. Perhaps Enner Valencia has had the clearest chances for

West Ham. But at the break, in the rain, West Ham 0-0 Manchester

United. As the players walk off, it is

goalless at half-time but should we be surprised? Probably not, it is

the 22nd time this season that Manchester United have been 0-0 at

half-time wood is a staggering statistic but having said that,

they've been pretty useful at times this evening. I think they were the

better team in the first. Not only have they nullify the threat of

Payet, Lanzini and Carroll, they've been a bigger threat going forward

themselves with Delaney having a chance, Lingard having a chance. It

has not been a great game, I have disabled. -- Fellaini having a

chance. That Italy from West Ham, we expected more from them, we sped to

be up but they have not really played in the first. -- we expected

them to be up. I think United have been decent and Van Gaal will be

happy. West Ham not quite added, it has not quite up and for them. They

started well, Cresswell getting down the left and getting in a few

crosses for Andy Carroll. But they need to get closer to Michael

Carrick in the Segunda. I don't know if it is Lanzini's job, or Noble

seems to be vacated in the midfield of it to come out for Martial and

Rashford to get into the gaps. After the first ten minutes, I thought

West Ham started well but United back into it. Manchester United

looked dangerous particularly on the counterattack. They do and what is

happening, because of their form, going forward in recent games, yes,

they can score goals, the full-backs are going forward but they are

leaving big gaps in front of the two centre halves, with Kouyate and

noble looking to get in on the action as well. Certainly, in this

instance and another one we are going to show you, Fellaini is

causing them all sorts of problems. You can see the two midfielders

looking to get forward but look at the space they are leaving behind.

Fellaini gets the ball and turns and he is straight into the back four of

West Ham. He has been a threat, getting the ball and collecting it,

they come inside again and this is a very good opportunity and a good

save from Randolph. He is causing them problems in that position. They

have just got to be cattle and watch out for that. It is a -- to be

cattle. It is a very good save from the deflection in the end. The best

chance of the game, Kouyate and Noble in midfield, Tomkins has do go

short into Rashford. It is very intelligent, he goes short but look

at Lingard, because he goes short, he leaves the space in behind and

they get into it. This is the best chance of the game, a good save,

yes, but he should score. They are taking chances, West Ham, because

they are committing so many men forward and being disappointed going

forward but they are leaving big spaces at the back as well. United

Scooby -- should be scoring these chances. They might live to regret

it. You said Slaven Bilic to have to do something about the space. The

clip at the end, Carrick had a lot of time and I've played against him,

you have to stop him playing and Noble saw that because he's an

intelligent player. But maybe the front three or four need to organise

that better, get round him and stopping probing. West Ham with

scraps, really, Valencia, a couple of occasions he might have done

something. Yes, Valencia is always a threat because he is looking to

going behind. He's energetic. Maybe he should have done better but he's

always running in behind and testing the full-backs. He is a problem to

play against. Not that many options in the middle, to be fair to him.

Coming from the right, there, he hit a shot and maybe he could have

passed but he sat at it. It would be some effort to score from their on

his weaker foot. Especially against David de Gea. We spoke a lot before

the game about Payet and Lanzini and they started quite well but they

faded through the half. They were lively, but they were lively in

probably the wrong areas, little bits of skill that we have seen and

we know they can do this, a bit of showboating and flicks, this, that

and the other, possession. But where it really matters, they have been

disappointing in the first half. We have not seen enough of them in a

penalty box and causing Manchester United problems. Little flicks and

passes, yes. But not enough where it matters. Yeah, with Payet, here. I

mean, that is different class. We have picked out Lingard, who we said

had an important role, matching Cresswell's runs but sometimes when

you have a player like Payet, normal players can't find the full-back but

he managed to find him a couple of times and caught out Lingard. But I

mean, he is a threat in behind as well, Payet, a player that can come

short and hurt you and also going behind. The guys that we mentioned

before the game, Payet, Carroll, getting balls into the box but they

have not got the balls into the box and you have to give Manchester

United credit for that, stopping them going forward and nullifying

them. Quickly on Payet, he was nominated in the top six players for

the PFA Player of the Year. Would he get your vote?" Remark he's had a

fantastic season, some pieces of brilliance, particularly with free

kicks. Close but there might be one or two lead of him, Harry Kane,

Jamie Vardy, N'Golo Kante as well. Riyad Mahrez. Like Alan, he's close

because he's been outstanding for his first Premier League season, at

his age, 29. It's difficult, maybe younger players can hit the ground

running when they come over but he's managed to do it and been

exceptional. Terrific season. Manchester United at half-time, Van

Gaal will be reasonably happy? Yes, firstly with the way West Ham and

then with the way they have got into scoring positions but he will be

disappointed they have not scored and they might regret that in the

second half because I'm sure West Ham will be better in the second

half than they have been in the first. It has not ended up 22 times

this season so look forward -- stay with us, please!

Thanks, we are down with the one and only Sir Trevor brooking, and German

David Gold of West Ham, you have played here, famously, can you

remember when you first came? -- chairman. 57-58, the promotion

season, in those days they used to let the youngsters go to the front

and stand in the stalls so they can see and meet up with their dad or

brother later. Great times, that is when I first got interested. David,

you were a fan as well, great memories of Wembley, 45 minutes away

from getting there. I remember going to Wembley in 1964, when we beat

Preston 3-2 or 3-1, and then of course what was the next final I

went to? I went to the 1975 final and 1980. Alan Taylor scored two

goals against Fulham in 1975, that was very exciting. But the most

exciting was in 1980, when I went to Wembley for the third time, a

wonderful goal by Sir Trevor... Third time lucky! Wonderful header

won the game. And we beat Arsenal, and we were in the First Division,

and Arsenal were in the top division. It does not been vintage

West Ham, the first 45 minutes, but a great atmosphere, real expectancy.

When you move, are you concerned you will not be able to recreate this? I

am not worried one bit. The atmosphere is created by fans, and

we are going to have 50,000 fans at matches like this. They will create

the atmosphere, I have no doubt in my mind about that at all. Sir

Trevor, in the first of, West Ham started well, but Manchester United

have bossed it. Michael Carrick has picked it up in the hole, so they

will be frustrated they are not haired, and you will think that West

Ham could bring Payet and Lanzini more into the game, but Manchester

United have been the better team. Whatever the result, emotional

night? The end of FA Cup football at one of the great stadiums? Not

whatever the result, if we were to lose, and I do not think we will, we

have seen the best of Manchester United in the first half, but we

will see the best of West Ham in the second half. It will be a great,

fitting for us to get to the final and hopefully win it, so tonight it

is 45 measures, these evening games, the header against Liverpool next

time was the moment of the season, I am hoping to get another moment like

that, but I am not sure I can survive extra time this evening! I

would love as to get to the final. You mentioned extra time, and the

draw has been made, if it goes to penalties, a coin was tossed,

Manchester United won the toss, so if it goes to penalties, they will

be taken in front of the Manchester United fans in the end named after

this man! I had better go up there and hide when they are taking

How is my hair looking? That is more important! Incredible game, that was

5-4, a great moment. For any player... How old were you? 17, 18.

It was unbelievable, what a game to do it in, 5-4, it lives long in the

family memory. Alan, give us some analysis. A tap in, right place,

writes I'm(!) Could have gone down for a penalty! They all count! Di

Canio got a bit excited in that game. The ask to come off three four

times, because the referee should have given him four penalties. -- he

ask to come off three or four times. In the end he was fighting with

Frank over the penalty. Young Lampard there! He has done well to

get it off Frank! I think Frank knew he was not stopping, it was going to

go on all night. Does he score? Yeah. It is always all right if you

score in those circumstances! Harry Redknapp in the stand, what is going

they call it. It is technically the Boleyn Ground at Upton Park, they

Brooking, no changes at half-time, Manchester United get the second

period and away, having bossed much of the first, but still goalless in

east London. The rain has mercifully stopped, but no substitutions made

by either manager thus far. Here is Ander Herrera for Manchester United,

finding Fosu-Mensah. It is going to be eight Manchester United throw in.

Having heard from David Gold at half-time, he owns the oldest

existing FA Cup trophy. The first one was lost, he owns the second, I

think it is on permanent loan to the National Football Museum. It shows

his love of the game and the FA Cup, doesn't it? We took the Football

Focus cameras do as I was a couple of years ago, and there it was on

The ball kept in, the clearance has gone straight through to close a

character very, very deep isn't he? West Ham pushing a bit further, that

would have been discussed at half-time, Slaven Bilic wants them

to go forward. West Ham's first ever game under the name West Ham United

after they change from Thames Ironworks was against a team called

Olympic FC, appropriately enough, given they are going to the Olympic

Stadium. Manchester United have started the

second half well. Starting brightly, asking questions, certainly down the

Manchester United right hand side, Fosu-Mensah pushing on. He has one

more year on his contract, Louis van Gaal.

He has also won domestic Cup competitions with European teams,

the Manchester United manager. We never expected him still to be in

that seat this long. Won by Fellaini, Lingard, Carrick,

real threat to West Ham's goal, Lingard's shot, it hits the

stanchion, a puff of the cheeks from Lingard, he knows that was well hit.

Diagonal from Blind, knocked down by Fellaini, he comes onto this really

positive, it is worth an effort, just off target. I think this is an

area, Lingard, if he can clear that up in front of goal, he could be a

top player. He just seems to miss a lot of opportunities. Developing

very well for Manchester United, though, given the chance by Van

Gaal. Yet only played one match before Manchester United this

season, he has played 30 this season before tonight. -- he had only

played. That is a good tackle! Really clean challenge from Tomkins,

Pat on the head from Noble for it. It needed to be as well, rational

and twisting and turning, we talked about his intelligence.

A foul and Kouyate, according to West Ham, but not according to Roger

East. Well cut out by Payet. West Ham are

struggling to get out of their own half at the moment. Accomplished

tactical display so far from Manchester United. The only thing it

has lacked, really, is a goal. Kouyate covering, you have said that

a few times tonight. Carroll, neatly done, we have not seen any magic

from Payet yet tonight. That is the toughest save De Gea has

had to make tonight. It shows Kouyate's confidence, prepared to

hit it from that sort of distance, simple save.

Here is Payet, as Manchester United concede possession. He has got some

pace, hasn't he? Really recovered well. Years an exciting player. --

he is. Smalling has to be strong and was

there. Carroll just hasn't come alive yet. Well, it is only the

fourth game he has started this calendar year, Andy Carroll, but

such a lot into that Arsenal game, he will not have done that in a

while. He looked like he was trying to prove a point, Smalling has been

handling him very well so far. As illustrated there. He is developing

as well, isn't he, and a Van Gaal? Would you consider taking Andy

Carroll as a wild card this summer? Outside bet, at best. He gives you a

different threat from the current strikers that we have.

Antonio rather overplayed that, lovely feet, brilliant goal! Oh,

that is a wonderful goal from the quite superb, urging Manchester

United talent! Marcus Rashford, brilliantly done, West Ham 0,

Manchester United and 1. That is just ruthless finishing.

This fella is going to be something special. The composure that he has,

as soon see stand-up Tomkins, he wants to work it into that area. He

knows what he wants to do with it. Look at him in that little area,

that little pocket again, where he can't be picked up. Antonia's error?

Yes, you get the ball and he is in total control. Look at the

technique, fantastic play from him. Such a young man. Look at him,

there, just stands him up, little shimmy and that is right in the

corner, pick that one out. Let me ask you another question, Martin, if

you were ring Roger -- Roy Hodgson's shoes, would you take Marcus

Rashford? It is tempting. This boy is going to be something special, I

wonder if it is of the order of Ryan Giggs, that kind of impact? That is

a special goal. That is a wonderful goal. They have unearthed a little

beauty in Rashford. That is a smashing goal, and West Ham United

are behind at Upton Park. Now what have they got, West Ham?

What can Slaven Bilic wrestle out of them? Mark Noble, turning away from

her error. Noble, a fine run, still going. Trying to get away from

Fellaini. David de Gea, there. That has injected some fresh belief into

the band as much as anything. Yes, a reaction. -- into the fans. The game

is going to be much better for that goal. In it goes from Antonio but

wasted. Carroll is saying he wants the ball whipped in. Well, he will

know, Antonio, that he gave the ball away cheaply.

Valencia. Taken off it by Herrera. Martial gliding over the turf, finds

Lingard who is running at Cresswell, has the full-back backpedalling. It

is a really dangerous ball. Rojo. Rashford's little touch but it was

blocked. Dwelling on it, West Ham but eventually clearing to Antonio

and now it is end to end stuff. Antonio for West Ham, four against

four, Antonio running into Blind. Roger East right on the spot, Payet

wriggling through. The defender needs to be cattle but the referee

says no foul. The game has burst into life off the back of that

Rashford goal. -- as to be careful. Herrera. Good challenge by Noble.

The atmosphere is electric. This West Ham team give their fans what

they want and they are responding. It is a good Manchester United

performance so far. Well, if they go, West Ham, they will not go with

a whimper, not at home, not in front of these fans, not on the last cup

and I at Upton Park. Antonio virtually ran over the top of happy

Mac blind, there. Lingard. That was a good ball, but Fosu-Mensah could

not quite keep it in play and it is a goal kick. Welcomer Roger East's

response was emphatic and immediate, no penalty. Antonio virtually runs

over the top of Blind and it is Payet. No, I think the referee has

got that right. Antonio's endeavour to get there has caused the problem

initially. Payet latches on. Carrick was a little bit lucky, diving in.

There is contact. But I think he's never going to get to the ball, is

he? Welcomer Roger East was right on the spot and was in no doubt at all.

-- well, Roger East. What about the noise now at Upton Park? Danger as

Manchester United come again but cut out by a one. West Ham will leave

that space, though, leave those holes behind. Nice one, Valencia

fooling Blind. Well, he had the chance to deliver into the box and

Andy Carroll is hugely frustrated. Not the only one. That ball has got

to come in, hasn't it? He had done the hard bit and then tried to do it

again. Cresswell. Kouyate. Noble. Not much Randolph could do about the

goal. It was just fabulous technique. Herrera.

Well, it was a bit of a slow burner for 50 minutes, this game, but not

now. A poor touch. Fellaini on to it

quickly. Kouyate the guilty man. Can West Ham an nerve and unsubtle

Manchester United -- unset or Manchester United, who have the

game, if not quite in their grip at the moment, but certainly, they are

where they want to be? It is a feature, how high the Manchester

United full-backs are prepared to push on. Rojo on the near side is

playing like a left-winger. Herrera. Rashford. Danger coming here.

Lingard is going to reach this before Randolph... Oh, I thought so.

The keeper did exceptionally well. He looked second favourite, there.

Great decision from the keeper. Lanzini is foul. You feel like the

jacket is off with this West Ham team now. Good goalkeeping by

Randall. The key to being a good goalkeeper is making good decisions,

coming to get a ball that you can get to. He has backed him self and

he got there. James Tomkins, here. Victor Moses is stripped and ready

for action for West Ham United. They need more pace, don't they, West

Ham? Yes, he is still on loan from Chelsea. Noble caught by Herrera.

I wonder if it is Valencia who is coming off after that failed attempt

to put the ball in the box? Tomkins. Lingard. Oh, Ogbonna. He is going to

deal with it. Rashford, cutting off the route to

goal as well as he could. Blind. Smalling. Given away to Noble

for West Ham. Cresswell. Lanzini has been a bit quiet, the Argentine.

Payet. Kouyate's strike. It is another one from distance.

Kouyate, this one, always rising. Enner Valencia is the man making way

and Victor Moses is coming on. I fully expect him to run at this

Manchester United offence but he needs to put balls into the box for

Andy Carroll.". -- Manchester United defence. Victor Moses can be a bit

at times. He certainly can. Still, it must be a strange

existence when you are, season after season, not at your home club, if

you know what I mean. He has had loan spells at Liverpool and West

Ham, of course, from Chelsea. You never feel like you belong anywhere.

And Stokes, I should not forget, a very good loan spell. Lingard,

that's dangerous and Randolph to the rescue again. Smart goalkeeping once

more by Randolph. But the threat of a second Manchester United goal is

there. Moses, that is a good turn. Rojo was the man who was turned and

Moses tries to get into Smalling but it cannons away to Cresswell.

Towards Carroll. The. He was ready to attack it but the ball sailed to

the position he just left. From the commentary position, you could see

Carroll with his arms in the air but just the wrong delivery. The timing

of the run, the ball has to be right. Just to the quality into the

box is letting West Ham down. -- the quality of the ball into the box. It

is a cup run which started with a squeaky victory over Sheffield

United... Ambitious from Antonia, straight at de Gea. There was a

last-minute Rooney penalty against Sheffield United, and not a

convincing win against Derby County at the iPro Stadium and another

against Shrewsbury. This is the first time in this quarterfinal that

Manchester United have met Premier League opposition in this year's FA

Cup. Martial. Trying to turn. Antonio is there. The ball fell

kindly for Antonio. Moses. Fellaini, trying to haul him back.

Lanzini. Tricky Lanzini. He stayed on his feet, Martin. It looked like

Fosu-Mensah had slid in with a challenge and Slaven Bilic certainly

thought so. I think Slaven Bilic thought he was pulling the opponent.

He was honest, great pace to get in. A good battle. There, he has just

pulled him a little bit. It is an honest parcel. Yes. It is a West Ham

corner. -- honest parcel. I hesitate to advocate players going down but I

know people would say that he probably should have done. In comes

the corner kick. Headed away by Fellaini. Noble had more time than

that. Antonio, here, gave the ball away,

Martin, but the rest is just quality. There's been some great

goals scored over the years in this stadium but that is up there with

all of them. From such a young player, his movement, and the

quality of the finish, two goalkeepers would not have stopped

that. He does not turn 19 until the autumn. He seems a very

well-balanced individual is welcome his feet firmly on the ground. -- as

well, his feet. Actually, speaking about 18-year-olds hitting the big

time, it was a Michael Owen style finish, the way he bent it in. It is

great news for the club and the Academy. I'm sure they are all proud

of what he is achieving. He's got a big future ahead. 1-0, Manchester

United lead. Herrera. Blind. Towards Fellaini. Dangerous. Lingard. Very

dangerous. Herrera went down, Martial hits it and Fellaini

deflects it into the back of the West Ham net! And the home side have

a mighty task, now, because Marouane Fellaini has doubled Manchester

United's lead. Scruffy defending, and a scruffy finish. But they don't

care one iota. It is 2-0 and Manchester United have a foot in the

semifinal now. And there can be no complaints from West Ham. He's

involved, look at this, Daley Blind hangs it up and lovely chest

control, knocks it in. The ball is whipped in and he does not switch

off. He is back in bold. I think it comes off his knee. If it does, it

is a great little deft finish. He is always looking for it to come back.

I mean, it is lucky that it comes to him but he does really well with it.

Changes are afoot. Manchester United are taking off Marcos Rojo and

bringing on Antonio Valencia as they celebrate the second goal. A little

bit of passion from the manager as well to go with his players. Great

little improvisation on the finish from Fellaini. We all thought it was

going to be Andy Carroll goal, but instead, it is Fellaini setting

things up. Well, we thought he would be in the team, Delaney, as the man

to stop Carroll but in fact, he is the man two double Manchester

United's lead. -- the man to double. Now Antonio Valencia is playing at

right back for United in place of Marcos Rojo, so Fosu-Mensah has gone

to left-back. Three quarters of the game have been

played. It is like the old days for the

Manchester United fans, isn't it? They thought these days had gone.

Great stuff, photo mentor, Martial. If Antonio had not got that touch,

West Ham were in deep trouble. Martial, looking so sharp again. All

of the Manchester United players at the top of their game. It must be

their best performance of the season, surely? We saw them win at

Manchester City the other week and they thoroughly deserved to do so.

They have also put in some really shocking performances this season.

But every time, as I said in the first half, you think that the flame

is being extinguished on Louis van Gaal's time at Old Trafford,

something happens to burst it back into life again.

He deserves it, he has been and are a lot of pressure. He is not a

manager who doesn't have thick skin. They have played in the true

traditions of their football club, they have attacked tonight. 20

minutes to go, West Ham are in serious trouble here. Rashford has

just been excellent in this second half. Randolph to the rescue, not

for the first time. Well, he now, when you consider the two saves he

made in the first half, two more in the second, this cup tie would have

been over but for Randolph. Lingard making the run from deep, Rashford

coming off, simple but effective. No foul by Fosu-Mensah and -- on

Lanzini. He finds Ander Herrera, Lingard, Martial. Did not get a

touch on it, that seemed to fool Martial. West Ham need a goal, but

it is Manchester United who look like scoring one. Fosu-Mensah there

was like a man possessed. Emenike is going to be on shortly for West Ham.

They badly need a goal as soon as possible.

Well, this wasn't in the script, was it? Everybody was backing Manchester

United to get beaten here tonight. Well, the whole thing with the

history, the last Cup tie, incidentally the last game ever in

this ground will be against Manchester United, first-team game,

that is. Carroll with a little flick on, De Gea is there.

Here is Valencia. Smalling forward, looking for Rashford.

Good header by Carroll, well cleared by Blind.

Need Lanzini zero Payet have really got in the game tonight. Not done

enough. Lanzini skipping inside, shot deflected by Blind. This is a

big moment of the game for West Ham, they have to do something very

quickly. Emenike about to come on. Let's see what impact he can make.

Noble goes down, and Herrera was a little bit high, gets the yellow

card for that, the Manchester United man. The ball was just in danger of

getting away from him there. Lanzini going off. On comes the

Nigerian international, Emmanuelle Emenike, on loan here from

Fenerbahce. This is what Manchester United needs

to do, just take the sting out of it, pass the ball, don't be sloppy!

Eliminate errors. Well, Carrick just poked it away, was Antonio caught by

Herrera? It is a free kick to West Ham, and Herrera has just been

booked, and Roger East is walking over to Ander Herrera. Having just

had a yellow card... Well, he has got hurt in an earlier challenge

with Antonio, and basically he cannot continue. So basically he

cannot continue, he makes a foul, and it is risky stuff. I think he

will be going off, though. He will be going off one way or the other!

The referee is signalling, it is a substitution. Schneiderlin is going

to come on. He is a lucky man! He is in a lot of pain, Herrera. Mark

Noble... Mark Noble has just picked up Ander Herrera and carried him off

the pitch! He got a mighty round of applause from the West Ham fans! He

has picked up and said, where is the naughty step? He is on it! He is the

fan on the pitch, isn't he? Yeah, local boy. Got to make this count.

Payet with this free kick for West Ham, in it goes, Carroll did not get

a touch on it, it was well defended. Lingard is turning away from Mark

Noble. Schneiderlin is down the middle. It is aimed towards Martial,

but his first touch wasn't good enough. Antonio took it away from

him. Payet, Noble, Cresswell. Too high

for Kouyate, there was a collision, Moses back in. The header was wide,

now they are asking for the penalty. That was great defending for me,

just a little nudge, prising him away from the ball. The ball is

going to keep coming into the box, it is going to really test the

character and personality of this Manchester United defence. I have to

say, this collection of young players, Lingard, Martial, Rashford,

it is very promising from a Manchester United point of view,

lots of pace. They look irresistible going forward. He is going to have a

job to get back in the side. It is going to be tough for him. Mr Rooney

warming up, getting quite a strong vocal reaction! In goes the cross,

which is chased by Victor Moses. Fosu-Mensah, if you are a defender,

watched you make of that? Good old-fashioned English Defence

League! He really wants it, no-one is getting passed in. -- English

defender. It is not quite the stage at which they have to score, but it

is getting there for West Ham if they are going to get anything out

of this game. Taken into extra time. Payet's corner, De Gea to the

rescue, denying Antonio! Great save, that is why he is a top goalkeeper,

he has had precious little to do. Totally instinctive, unbelievable!

It is a combination of foot and hand, unbelievable! Payet to have

another go, Carroll at the back post, 2-1!

Well, they might not need to take the roof off the ground when they

move in to demolish it, because the fans might do it for them if they

get an equaliser here! Tomkins makes it 2-1. Finally, the quality, Andy

Carroll picking out Tomkins, no-one can get hear him, look at him get at

there! Brilliant header from Tomkins. Isn't it just! Fellaini is

there to stop him and just does not thing. -- just does not thing. Game

on, 2-1. Incredible how the Manchester United fans have just

switched off, this ground has come alive again. Just listen to the West

Ham fans now. Oh! West Ham are not going to go lightly. Not a chance of

that, not now. Schneiderlin, Ogbonna underneath that, Tomkins, Noble.

Dimitri Payet, interesting ball. Smalling and pressure, West Ham are

that is a backpass, and the officials are saying, no, it is not.

The officials are right, no way that is a backpass. The rules say that

Payet, one sees in that central area, far more threatening in the

middle. Schneiderlin in for Manchester

United, Rashford, Kouyate. Fosu-Mensah is staying down. Well,

for a few minutes, it looked like Manchester United were not quite on

easy street, but certainly striding towards a Wembley semifinal. Not

quite so clear cut now, is it? Oh, that was ambitious. I guess

maybe he thought the worst that would happen is it would be

deflected behind for a corner, but he didn't get even that. It just

shows you the confidence, he thinks anything is possible. Andy Carroll

flying through the air, Fellaini is almost about to kick his head off!

He swings his Ford added. -- he swings his foot at it. Tremendous,

tremendous header from first Carroll then equally from James Tomkins, to

put your head in there. It is a free kick to Manchester

United. Slaven Bilic is arguing it was a push in the back. He kicks and

passes every ball, doesn't he? Doesn't he just! Fosu-Mensah with

the throw. Well, they have about seven and a half minutes to go, and

maybe, maybe more. Just in case there isn't extra time,

Martin, and at the moment there will not be, begin thinking about your

Lingard, Tomkins with the block. It is out of play, it is going to be a

Manchester United throw. There is the joint chairman, David Gold and

David Sullivan, who have marshalled West Ham United through this

transitional period. They started this season really just needing to

stay in the Premier League, with the move to the new stadium. They have

done so much more than that, but can they stay in the FA Cup?

Carrick, Victor Moses but Carrick's he'll was a fortunate interception

Rashford, here. He might just be doing enough to get himself a Man of

the Match award. I've been immensely impressed with him. Maturity beyond

his years. Well, in many, many games this season, Manchester United's

best players have been a youngest players. Moses.

Payet. Moses. Holding off Valencia. The referee says play on. Victor

Moses,. Carrick is there. Always a danger that Manchester

United will score a third on the counter and if they do, that surely

will be the end for West Ham? He has done well, there, Lingard. Quick

feet. Protecting the ball. Buying the free kick and giving his team

break, relieving the pressure. -- a break. Less than five minutes to

play. Martial. Cresswell won the throw. Kouyate.

Looking for Moses. Cut out by Fosu-Mensah, great anticipation.

There he is again. Not often that Louis van Gaal

displays much emotion of any variety down there in the dugout. I think

he's feeling inside. I do, too. This FA Cup competition is huge for him.

Fosu-Mensah with the throw. Martial with the header. Manchester United

have another throw. It is all eating up valuable time, isn't it? Yes, the

clock is ticking in their favour. Schneiderlin. I'm not sure who that

was intended for but it will find Valencia.

Fellaini. Losing out. Cresswell forward.

Nobody holding back. Who said the FA Cup was something the players didn't

want to win? Both teams giving everything. Payet toward Carroll.

Kouyate keeps it alive for West Ham. Moses to Antonio and Noble.

Cresswell. White shirt all back except Martial. In it goes for

Carroll! Whisker away. Whiskers away. Well, it is like an aircraft

taking off, isn't it? It is unbelievable. He gets up, a powerful

header but he just can't get the direction he needs. Cresswell knows

he will get on the end of it. Great header but he can't get above it.

Oh, Andy Carroll, so close. You get a feeling that there might be more

of that to come, though. Oh, that is a nasty slip. Tomkins.

Moses. Moses has ridden the touch from Blind and Emenike is in the

middle, Payet wants it at the back post and a brilliant touch from

Payet. Aiming for Carroll but cut out by Lingard and then

Schneiderlin. Ogbonna. 90 seconds of normal time. Dimitri Payet for West

Ham United. He lost sight of it, Kouyate!

Brilliant, brilliant save by de Gea. Carroll! Is there again. Kouyate,

deflected but the flag is up! It does not count. Ecstasy, followed

hard by agony. Kouyate, there, great effort on goal. I mean, Andy

Carroll, look at the slave from the keeper, and he is just a fraction of

side when it comes back. The stadium is bouncing. Everybody thought that

was in. I think the referee just about got that right but incredible

effort from West Ham, throwing everything at Manchester United.

Magnificent double save by de Gea. Wayne Rooney is coming on. Rashford

is coming off. Rooney, hoping that he will only be

on the pitch fora couple of minutes. -- for a couple of minutes. But it

may not be that way. Even now. The fourth official is going to put his

board up any minute. West Ham, after the way they have reacted, it's

incredible call most of the fans are willing the ball into the back of

the net. A minimum of four added minutes. The very first FA Cup tie

West Ham played on this ground, 112 years ago, finished in a 2-1 defeat.

Towards the back post. Carroll beavering himself towards it,

appeals for a push. Payet goes down and that is a free kick. This is

where Dimitri Payet would want a free kick. If you said to Dimitri

Payet, "Picked a spot", there's every chance he'd picked this one.

He is looking for the foul. He knows, this used to be Fergie time

but is it Payet is time now? Time added on. -- Payet's time now? He

has the quality, there's no doubt. Is... Hold himself together.

Fantastic goalkeeper, is the Mark Noble has gone over and shaken

Dimitri Payet's can. He did it to Manchester United in the last match

with a free kick from virtually this spot. This is to keep West Ham

United in the FA Cup. Payet, deflected. Corner. Just not

enough on the shot. Spellbinding, isn't it? Well, this will lie into

that congested penalty area. No, it won't. It is going to go to Noble,

volleyed. Immensely difficult technique for Mark Noble and it is a

goal kick. Too ambitious. That would have been a fairy tale, wouldn't it?

If that had gone in. Manchester United, 11 time FA Cup winners. Only

Arsenal have won the trophy more. They are seconds away, now, from the

semifinal. Tomkins. It is a West Ham free kick.

It has got to go long and it has got to go quickly.

A minimum of four added minutes were shown and we have almost played

three of them. Randolph forward. Carroll with the header. Where is it

going? It came off Antonio and it has gone behind for a goal kick.

Antonio has to be a ball boy. Who is your Man of the Match? I'm going to

go for the youngster. It is almost like the changing of the guard,

Wayne Rooney was the star of this team but I'm going for the

youngster, Rashford. He really impressed me. His goal was

outstanding. It was. He is some survivor.

David de Gea. What a debt they owe him, Manchester United, if they do

indeed go through. Fellaini. Ogbonna, forward. Emenike. Payet.

Moses. Is there time for West Ham? Moses confronted by Blind, helping

it to Emenike. He kept the ball in play but he could not find a

colleague and de Gea was there. There is such bike in this West Ham

team. He can be proud of his players to night. -- such fight. The next

whistle might be the last. We have played the four minutes indicated.

Manchester United have the ball, with Morgan Schneiderlin. If they

can keep it for a few more seconds, they have won. Lingard. Antonio

Valencia charging forward. This is not the time to give the

ball away. Lingard, trying to find Valencia. He wins the throw from

Cresswell. But the referee's whistle blows! And Manchester United are

into the FA Cup semifinal in ten days' time. Louis van Gaal has found

another big result when he needed one. And Manchester United have seen

off West Ham. What a dramatic end to the game. A brilliant goal from

Rashford, a great finish from Fellaini, a brave reply from Tomkins

but then stunning saves from David de Gea at the end to keep Manchester

United's lead intact. A wonderful, memorable night at the Boleyn

Ground, which says farewell to cup football for the last time. But not

a victory for the home fans. It is Manchester United, Sir Bobby

Charlton, Louis Van Gaal et al, who heads to Wembley, where they will

face Everton in the FA Cup semifinal. West Ham United 1-2

Manchester United. STUDIO: Yes, they will face Everton

in the semifinals. The Boleyn Ground says farewell to FA Cup football

with a cracking FA Cup tie. Not the result, of course, that the West Ham

faithful would have wished for, but what a finale they provided.

Manchester United have met Everton twice in semifinals and have lost on

both occasions. Everton running out penalty winner is the last time they

met in 2009. De Gea, once again, fabulous for Manchester United. It

has been a tough season for Manchester United but could there be

silverware at the end of it? Alan, what a game in the end. What a

fantastic second 45 minutes, Gary. It was a big anti-climax for West

Ham for about 78 minutes. There was no energy and they did not play with

the passion we expected. Then they got the goal from Tomkins and then

the whole place came alive. There was much more energy in their game.

But for David de Gea, I mean, the number of saves he made in this

game, particularly with his left foot! One from a corner and one from

Kouyate late on. Fantastic saves. As I said, if West Ham had played like

that for the vast majority of the game, it might have been different.

Let's look at the Manchester United goals first. What a finish from

Rashford. Different class, this is Antonio giving it away, you can see

Slaven Bilic telling him to play in the channel and the front three from

I just united impressed me to, particularly Rashford, took it

early. He gave West Ham a few warnings in the first half, a couple

of little movement but that was excellent, keeper no chance and he

is a world star now. What an answer to the manager, when he was taken

off at the weekend, to respond with a finish like this. But this kind of

summed up West Ham. They were sloppy defensively, poor, good play from

United and it would have fell to two or three players, as you could see,

who are free in the box but it goes to Fellaini who I thought played

well tonight, particularly in the first half, got his goal. United

were in cruise control. They were not being asked any questions at all

until that point. We thought it was it at that stage but back came West

Ham. They had a real go, didn't they? Tomkins. They had a real go

and you expect that. The crowd were getting behind them. There was a

little spell just after the first half when you thought they would die

away, West Ham but they came back well and made a game of it. A couple

of chances at the end and we could be having extra time. They were

lacking the energy, but they got the goal and suddenly the whole place

came alive and there's a bit of spark in the performance. Good

header from Andy Carroll. Tomkins is brave. He would get a kick in the

face. They are back into it, full of confidence, balls into Andy Carroll,

suddenly getting wide and whipping balls in. Suddenly, they are

starting to ask questions of Manchester United which they did not

do before. West Ham went so close at the end, David de Gea brilliant, the

goal marginally offside. It was not to be. It wasn't. If you look at the

players on the pitch at the end of the game, West Ham were huge,

physically, getting it wide and trying to deliver to Andy Carroll,

and he got that chance which just went over which he was waiting for

all night. I thought he played well tonight, he was a threat but a bit

too late for West Ham. I thought Manchester United were much better.

They nullified the threat, particularly for 77, 78 minutes and

then they were bombarded with long balls. David de Gea pulled off some

fantastic saves but in the main they defended very well. Manchester

United to go through. Great to see you but sorry you did not get the

result, Joe. We are out of time. That's it for FA Cup matches at this
