Welcome to The Premier League Show. This evening I'll be joined by Chris

Sutton here at the National Football Museum in Manchester to dissect all

the big stories. From tough beginnings in Birmingham, Troy

Deeney's risen from non-league to the Premier League along the way,

including a spell in prison in 2012. Last year he was toe-to-toe with the

big boys, bagging assists and goals. IBF world heavyweight champion and

2012 boxing world medallist Joshua is a champion. They were put in a

room together. The undefeated Anthony Joshua.

Equalising goal, and who else for the talismanic, Troy Deeney.

What's happening, Boro? Nice to see you, as always. You too. Seeing a

few bits on the map there. We know each other from Watford but that's

not where it started. For me, Birmingham, born and raised. For me,

born and raised in Watford, raised in Watford, what was it like growing

up? I've seen you now, but what was it like growing up there? It's the

kind of place where nobody respects the other person, you've got to get

it yourself. I think that's what makes myself in football better than

others is because up here I know they are not going to give it to me,

I've got to take it. That's why a footballer, you see so many

footballers love boxers because you don't have anybody else to blame, if

you don't do the run or the gym, if you miss something, it will catch up

with you. Yes. I've never followed sports or a

team, I'm more individual. Like Troy Deeney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Pele, I

love them. I like the names, keep going, keep going. It's the respect

for individual players. What's got us to where we are at now is the

winners. Yes. I don't care what anyone says, you can be a nice guy

but you have got to have that bit where you can go, forget you lot,

this is my time, I've got to do what I've got to do and that's why we are

where we are. The major throw backs of Mr Deeney.

How old was you there? 15, 16. I was the youngest by far. They were all

five, six years older than me, so they were like, Troy's good, let him

play, I played with men from the age of 15. You sound like the football

Mike Tyson. We used to come out this little gate here and my mum lived

across the road there. Not many places you could go with your family

to sit down and chill out. Socialise. And be me. And no-one

comes in and goes, Troy, how much money you earn or what car you

drive, it was more like, how's your mum. You know everyone. Yes. We see

you here with the guns out, as always! There's a couple of things

that stand out for me. Obviously, the cut on the hands. The battle

wounds. Still there. I used to get in, I wouldn't call it trouble but I

wasn't filled out but always tall. So for instance I could be finding

myself in issues with people that are older than me when I was a kid

so I had to defend myself from people seeing a little kid on the

street, when I was on my BMX. When I met you in the barber's shot, we

were both at a level where we were doing all right but we hadn't done

anything. There was a respect that, you were like, I want to win the

Olympics. It was like a five-minute conversation, but as soon as I

walked out, the wife was with me, and I was like, he's going to do it

because he's got the same thinking as me. It's not always about the

sports, it's a mindset, how am I going to win. Yes.

I know what this represents. My good days. This must be either a Flemish

bond or English bond. I didn't know this represented your good days.

Because this is my good days as well. I don't believe that you were

brick laying. I got my certificate. You got that Yes, went college from

16-18, I was earning like what, ?50 a week, all the mates were there and

you were going out with ?50 a week, wearing the same T-shirt. I was

getting ?80 a day, London money, so I was getting in trouble, court

cases. One of the things when I went to college, when I was on bail, it

shows that I'm a student, doing good things to myself, doing things back

for the community, brick laying, I wasn't guilty so I got off with the

court case, I was still smoking. I was still partying. I found boxing,

my cousin took me. I carried on with the boxing but the brick laying days

were funny days for me, man. I want to hear more about your, what, ?150

a week? Yes. You should have negotiated your contract. I was at

the point, I just came out of college and my mum's very much,

you're not working, you're out the house, you've got to pay your way.

Yes. My mate was like, yes, my uncle's got a job for us, but the

problem is, it's only 150 and I'm like 150, I'm earning 50 cash in

hand, so I took it and then yes. Troy does pay his taxes now! I was

coming on to this actually. Approaching the ring ahead of the

biggest bout of his life. Great Britain's Anthony Joshua. Is that

the final? I remember this, it's when I thought, he's taking this to

a street fight. Anthony Joshua. Second round I come back, they try

to tell me I'm down on points, I said no way. I was locked up when I

was watching this in 2012. Seriously? Yes. I remember going,

that's my boy and even was like no, no, no, it's not. I remember going,

knock him out. Anthony Joshua is the Olympic super heavyweight champion.

When it comes up that you won, the way I was banging my door was

different. It's weird, I had been boxing three-and-a-half years, had

three or four fights individually, it was tournaments, so I looked at

this like another tournament. We'd been copping golds from back in the

day, man. Here he is. Look at this. Go for

that, lad. Oh, don't do that, lad. Don't do that. No. This is when I

thought I was so bad. I remember this. You know what, this is my

go-to moment. I remember you belted across the pitch. You have got to

remember, I started this season in jail, Boro. I missed two months. --

jail bro. Here he is, bang. This is the part I hate. Watch. I was like,

that's my brother, I jumped to my brother. I didn't realise how big

that gap was, you know. Could have been a big ditch. When I think about

it now, I think, imagine if I'd have dropped. That would have gone viral.

The gold glistening there, bruv. I've seen the captain badge on that

left arm. Yes, it's a proud moment. I have to say, after everything we

have been through, now to be given the responsibility to actually

essentially be the face of Watford, captain the whole team. Yes. And the

responsibility obviously for making past mistakes now they are

entrusting me that I'm that guy that can look after everybody is massive.

What about Watford this season, what's your hopes? Well, the main

aim for a club like ours is obviously to stay in the Premier

League, but why can't we do a less II. Yes. You've got to aim for the

sky, probably the best technical squad I've ever been with. Now

everything's in place to be better than we were before. Yes. Deeney

goes for goal and equalises. Brilliant by the Watford captain.

Enough of my yellowy things over there. I can see some proper gold

there. This belt, I was there that night actually. Blistering

fashion... I was like yes, I know what you are feeling because for me

that was like scoring at Wembley when my mum was there. These are the

memories. Yes. What did I say to you? Pictures were up side down. I

was like, paid all this money... These are the actual gloves I fought

Charles Martin as well, so these are going for about ?500 a pop.

Eve seen your journey from 15, brick laying from the old school to the

new school, England call ups, what's happening next in the world of

training? Same, strive for perfection. I train four hours a

day. It's not a bad life. But for them four hours, I'm an animal, I'm

enjoying myself and I don't think people understand it because on the

pitch I'm aggressive, angry, running through people. I can play for

England. If that don't come back, I can still play for Jamaica. Still so

much more to do. Yes. What's behind here? Got to be something for you,

definitely. Bigger than me. Let's reveal. The old punching machine.

What's first? This is for you. 797. Need to think of someone that

you don't like here. School... He got nervous! The thing is, once you

start... You can't stop. We gotta keep going now. I think he's broke

it. I actually think he's broke it, look what's happened. You kick off.

You kick off. Championship game, this. Hand-eye coordination, man.

There it is, oh! He's only got it! Interesting hearing them discuss

their routs to success, both experienced troubled times along the

way. Troy Deeney is captain, scoring goals, an incredible competitor, but

how far can he go for you? He's a real handful. I like his attitude.

He's much more than that, he's a real intelligent footballer and his

partnership with Agalo is key, doing well in the Premier League. Without

Troy Deeney, Watford are half the team. Watford have strengthened over

the summer, also changed their manager again. How far do you think

they are away from becoming a Premier League fixture, not a team

that's always going to be flirting with relegation? I don't know

whether they've strengthened. They have had a big turnover of players

in the last year, they have changed managers too frequently for my

liking. They need a bit of continuity, but if they keep Deeney

and Agalo they'll do OK. One highlight of a goal-filled Premier

League weekend, here is what else caught our eye over the last seven

days. This is a derby watched the whole

world over. Kevin de Bruyne, off the post. It is 2-0, city! He's lost it.

First half we were better, second-half we pushed a lot. We made

mistakes, we paid for the mistakes. Ighalo, another one! What a

turnaround. If we carry on like this we are not going to win a single

game. Here is Firminho. Superb end to a perfect day for Liverpool. Ooh,

Cahill's been caught. Leroy Fer! 2-1 Swansea. Anywhere in the stadium you

can see that is a foul. Ivanovic. Cost! 2-2!

Ighalo, free header, Everton lead. And Lukaku with the header! The flag

stays down, Lukaku on a hat-trick! Three points back to Merseyside.

We are now four games in, let's look at the table. Manchester City the

only team with a 100% record. Everton lifted to third. The bottom

three places filled by Southampton, Sunderland and Stoke, all still to

win this season. Let's talk about Everton, having struggled to 11th

last season under Roberto Martinez, Ronald Koeman has come in and got

off to a flying start, unbeaten in the week, what have you made of what

he's done? I think Everton have got a proper manager in place now. I

knew the supporters were sick of Martin is coming out of games,

talking a pile of rubbish. They were serial underachievers, they should

have done much better. It was fantasy football under Martinez, and

now they have a realist in. And they made good signings like Yannick

Bolasie, so the money is going places, and it seems to be working.

I think Ronald Koeman should be trusted. He has a record at

Southampton of bringing in good players. He has a record in the

transfer market. Yannick Bolasie is a player I like, a real powerhouse,

a threat on his day. His final ball could improve a bit. Great start,

but I think they will do well under Koeman. Let's talk about Lukaku, who

broke his drought in spectacular style with a hat-trick. What is it

like when you have gone a period of time without scoring and you finally

hit the back of the net. Lucky you've got me on, not Alan Shearer.

Almost like it was strategic! I think he had lost a little bit of

confidence. What I like about Lukaku, he is still young, he is an

all-rounder. He's got everything in his locker. He can run in behind,

link up. I think he is key for Everton. If they get him fit with

his confidence up, he will score goals. Going back to the mindset, do

you start to fear? I remember Lee Chapman talking years ago about when

he was feeling good, you felt the goal was the size of the pitch but

when he wasn't scoring it became this tiny thing and he could not

even imagine scoring. I think that hesitation is a problem, when you

start doubting yourself you hesitate. Good strikers anticipate

things and mental strength is important. Players like Alan Shearer

work at above everybody else. They were not frightened of missing. I

think Lukaku is young enough and I think he will develop. I think he's

a real handful already but I think he will mature and that will be part

of his game, that mental side of the games. And what do you think is

successful Ronald Koeman and Everton's season? I think top six

would mean success. It really wouldn't surprise me. Slowly,

slowly, but they are really good side. You've got a manager who will

set up his team to see things and that didn't happen under Roberto

Martinez. Chelsea entertaining Liverpool in the Friday night

football, we asked Trevor Sinclair to look at the strengths and

weaknesses. Liverpool have been sensational going forward this

season. With only Manchester City scoring more Premier League goals.

This will be of huge concern to Antonio Conte, especially with his

captain John Terry out injured. What has impressed me most about

Liverpool is their ability to open up teams, going from back to front

with superb speed, and clinical finishing in front of goal. In this

instance, Henderson is the end in midfield. You can imagine in three

or four passes this will be in the back of Arsenal's net. Short, sharp

passing. Great run off the ball by Georginio Wijnaldum. Great run into

the box by Adam Lallana, he takes it well. This is what Chelsea will have

to deal with. Against the defending champions last weekend, within two

passes, in the back of the net. Good ball out to tempt Milner, and that

was a clinical finish. We are looking at their second goal against

Leicester. They looked well set up to deal with this, within three or

four passes Liverpool have a goal-scoring opportunity. Third man

run by Sturridge, years in on goal, on his right hand side, and for me,

I know Sturridge, ten times out of ten he would go for this, he is a

selfish forward and he will not mind me saying that. But there has been a

change in mentality at Liverpool. He is looking for Mane, great execution

of the backheel and a tap in for his mate. For Liverpool this season it

is about we score, not I score. Chelsea have Diego Costa in form and

back to his best. 89th minute against West Ham, London derby,

looking to get the second ball. He's got the desire to get in front of

James Collins, he gets there first, little bit of muscle, that's the

desire. Can he settle the ball down and get the finish off? This is not

luck, that is aimed there, fantastic finish, getting Chelsea three

points. Here is the build-up to the equaliser Costa scored over the

weekend against Swansea. Ivanovic makes himself half a yard but for me

all the action is at the far post. It is hustle and bustle and for me

only one man will win this battle, and as the ball goes in he gets

himself in a position for the overhead kick, he knows what he

wants to do, and what a finish that is, great execution. Both teams have

got a lot to offer going forward. The big question is, can Chelsea

deal with the creativity and movement of Liverpool? And can

Liverpool deal with Diego Costa? STUDIO: I would like to address that

question but first what do you make of Chelsea under Antonio Conte? I

think Chelsea have had a really good start. They've beaten sides we all

feel they should have beaten, but this season they've got Hazrd back

to his best, and Costa back to his best. I think he goes down too

easily at times but he has looked sharp and fit, and strong. He's got

goals in his game. I think he will cause problems. With these two and

referring to what Trevor was saying, will it come down to defensive

frailties, if they do not make it to the top of the heap? I think it's

going to be one hell of a game. I've got a big crush on Jurgen Klopp. You

are not alone. Manchester City and Liverpool have been the outstanding

teams in terms of football this season. Liverpool better than

Arsenal. Tottenham were unlucky. They thumped Leicester. Liverpool's

problem is defensively, inconsistency. Of all the teams to

lose two, Birtley. You just worry about their style of play. It's

great to watch. But can they continue the high-intensity

high-pressure game throughout the season? On their day, brilliant on

the eye. For Chelsea, good start, I think they'll do much better than

last season. With Terry out, it is all about whether Luiz will come in

and do a good job and the jury is out. Do you worry about that area

for Chelsea? I do. I think they are looking somewhere back to their best

going forward but defensively the big question is how Luiz will

perform. We'll Conte put him in a backstreet or payback two? Winner?

Liverpool. Interesting. In a week that saw Neymar launch his music

career, we have been casting our ears over football and it's tricky

relationship with rap music. Now you'd think with a glamorous

lifestyle of a footballer, football and rap songs would go hand-in-hand.

Well, that is not the case. The champions! I'm going to take it upon

myself to find that one gent. This year the world of music is all about

grind. If you don't know what grind is, you need to watch the news more.

Let's talk about grime. That was why there was only one man to let

everybody know Pogba was a red devil, Stormzy. Just because you are

a world-class player, it doesn't mean you can wrap. Could Gazza play

football? Yes, he was one of the best. But could he rap? No! There

must be something in the water on Tyneside because even Chris Waddle,

pre-Mullet got involved. Yeah, Chris. I got the feeling, too. I got

a feeling that you should never pick the mike up again. Surely a man like

Ian Wright is going to hook us up. Please.

to you Premier League footballers is, you need to up your game. Until

then, please, don't call it reggae boy. Not sure we are going to find

the next Skepta in the Premier League. Do you know who he is? No.

He is a grime artist. I had singing lessons when I was at. Like if only

we had more time, I would have asked you to sing. Let's look at the
