Hello and welcome for the first time from Wimbledon. We are very happy to

:00:11.:00:18.

be with you and we hope you enjoy our coverage here on Centre Court.

:00:19.:00:25.

Britain's number one Jo Konta is in battle with Eugenie Bouchard, a

:00:26.:00:29.

former finalist here. When we had to leave on BBC Two, she was two points

:00:30.:00:35.

away from taking the second set. Here she is with set point. That was

:00:36.:00:41.

good enough to seal the set. It is now one set all so it is match on an

:00:42.:00:48.

Centre Court between Jo Konta and Eugenie Bouchard. Sorry we had to

:00:49.:00:52.

move over from BBC Two at that crucial stage of the set, but at

:00:53.:00:56.

least we showed you how it was concluded. We can go there now with

:00:57.:01:02.

no interruptions and join our commentators. Tracy Austin is

:01:03.:01:03.

alongside Sam Smith. SAM SMITH: well, if you have just

:01:04.:01:50.

come in from work, this is better than a box set, much better. Live

:01:51.:01:56.

sport at its very best. And if you are just joining this match, it was

:01:57.:02:02.

Konta actually be made the start, breaking Bouchard in her opening

:02:03.:02:05.

service game, but the Canadian number one came roaring back to take

:02:06.:02:10.

that opening set in just over half an hour. But Bouchard showed great

:02:11.:02:16.

steel, much to the delight of her Spanish coach on the right. She

:02:17.:02:28.

fended off so mini-break points -- so many break points. Here we are at

:02:29.:02:32.

a set all. Tracy, I'm not sure I have seen a better women's match at

:02:33.:02:39.

Wimbledon so far? TRACY AUSTIN: This is a Barry high-quality match. A

:02:40.:02:45.

much anticipated match. The former champion and Jones looking on. I

:02:46.:02:55.

also think the back story of this match is so interesting -- Ann

:02:56.:03:01.

Jones. Eugenie Bouchard got to number five in the world but then

:03:02.:03:05.

had a huge dip because of the expectation. She was only 20. So

:03:06.:03:10.

many eyes on her, and she struggled to deal with the pressure. She was

:03:11.:03:15.

very open about that. She said she was eating less because she was so

:03:16.:03:19.

nervous before matches. She is looking much stronger this year,

:03:20.:03:25.

back with her coach as well. For Johanna Konta, outside the top 100

:03:26.:03:30.

this time last year. She played Maria Sharapova in a pretty decisive

:03:31.:03:34.

victory for Sharapova on Centre Court. Now Konta comes out on the

:03:35.:03:41.

second time on this magical, historic court with all expectations

:03:42.:03:47.

that she is supposed to win. She has handled that situation beautifully.

:03:48.:03:54.

A year is a long time in tennis and in sport. At 25, Konta is really

:03:55.:04:00.

making that breakthrough at a later stage than you see most of the time

:04:01.:04:06.

on the women's tour. It is that mental process, the mental coach she

:04:07.:04:13.

has been able to work with, she says it is a process she has to go

:04:14.:04:16.

through and think point by point, very clear and calm. She has

:04:17.:04:19.

tremendous poise and very well spoken. We have had two excellent

:04:20.:04:27.

sets of tennis on a day when the rain, I am pleased to say, has

:04:28.:04:32.

stayed away. It looks really good for the rest of the week. It makes

:04:33.:04:37.

us all very happy because it means we get the day off on Sunday.

:04:38.:04:43.

So, it was Bouchard who had the first set, Konta dominated the

:04:44.:04:52.

second. Here is Bouchard at the start of this deciding set.

:04:53.:05:15.

These two had never played before will stop.

:05:16.:06:17.

12 months ago they were living in completely different worlds.

:06:18.:08:08.

The first 44 Genie. Just decelerated there. -- the first double faults.

:08:09.:08:28.

Nicely constructed point. Good footwork from Bouchard.

:08:29.:09:45.

A slight missed opportunity there. A second serve.

:09:46.:10:14.

Beautiful the way Bouchard attacked that forehand. Didn't make the same

:10:15.:10:51.

mistake there. Moved inside the baseline.

:10:52.:11:32.

Not able to get that early break. Bouchard toughing out that service

:11:33.:11:40.

game. SUE BARKER: Very quickly change over

:11:41.:11:45.

an centre, but we will briefly show you what has been happening on Court

:11:46.:11:56.

Number Two. This is an -- Ana Konjuh. She stepped on a ball and

:11:57.:12:03.

fell over. She has the trainer on. She had three match points against

:12:04.:12:07.

Agnieszka Radwanska. We will keep you up-to-date with her progress and

:12:08.:12:12.

whether she can continue. It is not looking good. Back we go to centre.

:12:13.:13:22.

This time in the evening there will be a little moisture.

:13:23.:14:10.

She had one double fault until this game and now two already.

:14:11.:14:39.

That is a magnificent forehand. Stayed down through it. What an

:14:40.:14:48.

angle. The forehand is improved and particularly the sharp angles.

:14:49.:15:39.

Bouchard was withstanding some punishing blows there. Great defence

:15:40.:15:56.

to hang in the point. I think that ball was going to go

:15:57.:16:05.

long. Konta missed out. Two missed returns. Konta has got to

:16:06.:17:28.

get this one in play. This is the resilience from her that

:17:29.:19:21.

we did not see last year. She looked miserable on the tennis court, as if

:19:22.:19:24.

she wanted to be anywhere but hitting a tennis ball.

:19:25.:19:36.

UMPIRE: Correction, the ball is good.

:19:37.:19:54.

Miss Bouchard is challenging the call on the left service line. The

:19:55.:20:01.

ball was called out. That is confidence for you.

:20:02.:20:14.

Now she is flying here now, the Canadian number one. She sprints

:20:15.:20:20.

into a 3-0 lead. There is her younger brother

:20:21.:21:24.

William. Mum, Julie. Eugenie also has another sister Charlotte and a

:21:25.:21:29.

twin sister Beatrice. They look very similar but have -- apparently they

:21:30.:21:37.

have completely different personalities. Her mum has a slight

:21:38.:21:43.

obsession with the Royal family when it comes to naming her children.

:21:44.:21:49.

Genie calls her mum a closet royalist. I did not know such a

:21:50.:21:54.

thing existed! I think she is out of the closet now!

:21:55.:22:30.

Nick Saviano looks like he will job over that wall. He is so excited

:22:31.:22:37.

with the level Bouchard is playing at today.

:22:38.:23:09.

I haven't seen Genie play this confidently in a while. Second

:23:10.:23:21.

serve, 98 mph, and she saw it early and attacking.

:23:22.:24:46.

To the left of Nick Saviano is the Fed Cup captain for Canada. Both men

:24:47.:25:08.

looking very happy with Genie right now.

:25:09.:25:45.

Konta starting, excuse me, Bouchard starting to read that second serve

:25:46.:25:52.

of Konta. That is a rather deflated Centre

:25:53.:26:42.

Court crowd now, apart from that little area, as Bouchard leads a

:26:43.:26:49.

double break. Henley hits the ground there. What has been happening over

:26:50.:26:55.

the last ten or 15 minutes for you, Tracy? Bouchard has raised the level

:26:56.:27:03.

of her game. Maybe the lack of experience on the big stage for

:27:04.:27:10.

Konta is showing up just marginally. It does not take much in a

:27:11.:27:13.

high-quality match like this to turn it.

:27:14.:27:34.

I don't think I have seen as many Centre Court matches with so many

:27:35.:27:44.

overrules from the chair and the umpire has got this one right. Gold

:27:45.:27:48.

stars for the woman from Norway. Jo was saying that the lines person

:27:49.:28:39.

called it long and that was the first indication of any call coming.

:28:40.:29:13.

She has got to put it behind her. There is a fair chance that Konta

:29:14.:29:22.

had a point there in terms of the out call interfering with her shot.

:29:23.:30:07.

This is the level of tennis for Bouchard back to 2014. She is

:30:08.:30:11.

hitting with so much power. It is outstanding from Bouchard! She

:30:12.:30:36.

was reading the ball so well. Well, she is only 22 years of age,

:30:37.:30:57.

she is still I can accept, but this might be a better version than the

:30:58.:30:59.

one we saw two years ago. She is still a teenager. Very few

:31:00.:31:36.

blemishes on her report card this evening.

:31:37.:31:58.

And Bouchard really has stunned the Centre court. A brilliant display in

:31:59.:32:09.

this final set. It almost feels like she has come full circle from the

:32:10.:32:15.

heights of a couple of years ago. This is a young woman who had a

:32:16.:32:20.

dream. She saw Maria Sharapova with the title here when she was just

:32:21.:32:25.

nine years of age. I have got the feeling she is a very determined

:32:26.:32:30.

young woman like her rival and she decided, I want to be on the big

:32:31.:32:34.

stage, I want to be on the Centre Court. At 20 years of age she made

:32:35.:32:40.

her first grand slam final right here at Wimbledon. That takes some

:32:41.:32:44.

dedication, discipline and real talent. She talked about that and

:32:45.:32:51.

how she felt all the pressure and expectations if you win the match.

:32:52.:32:56.

If you lose a match it was a disaster and it was difficult for

:32:57.:33:02.

her. Now she says she feels like it is 2013 again when she is playing

:33:03.:33:06.

these matches and is not expected to win. I wonder if she gets into the

:33:07.:33:13.

top ten, and most people that she will, she will handle it far better.

:33:14.:33:18.

And hopefully with this man always by her side. A great coach. She

:33:19.:33:25.

started working with him when she was 12, a long relationship. Johanna

:33:26.:33:30.

Konta serving to stay in the match now.

:33:31.:34:44.

You have got to give Bouchard credit, losing that second set 6-1

:34:45.:34:53.

and coming out in this third set and elevating her game even more.

:34:54.:35:11.

Also having to deal with a pro-Johanna Konta crowd. They have

:35:12.:35:22.

been very respectful. I am sure Genie understands it is not against

:35:23.:35:25.

her, just wanting Johanna Konta to play well.

:35:26.:35:42.

That is the way and height of the net, a volley. -- that is the way to

:35:43.:35:56.

finish the point off at the net. Johanna Konta says, OK, Genie, you

:35:57.:36:07.

serve it out. Sometimes those mis-hit are the very

:36:08.:36:35.

best shots. They make it awkward. Not let the disappointments seep

:36:36.:37:40.

into her game, stay focused. Well, unfortunately for Konta, just

:37:41.:38:39.

too much for her this evening. UMPIRE: Miss Konta is challenging

:38:40.:39:12.

the ball on the baseline. The ball was called out. It is long. It is

:39:13.:39:23.

the brilliant Eugenie Bouchard who goes through to the third round,

:39:24.:39:28.

putting out the British number one. There is no doubt that Genie is

:39:29.:39:36.

back. She played extremely well, served a big high percentage of

:39:37.:39:41.

first serves in, three out of four. She dictated play from the baseline.

:39:42.:39:47.

She looked very confident and poised. Hit the ball early, solid

:39:48.:39:57.

and clean. Konta will be very disappointed. But it is also new to

:39:58.:40:04.

her, just her second time on this centre court. God into the top 20 in

:40:05.:40:13.

June of this year. It was a good fight back in the second set for

:40:14.:40:23.

Konta. But she did not have enough. That is so good for Genie who has

:40:24.:40:27.

been through such a torrid time at such a young age after hitting the

:40:28.:40:32.

heights here two years ago. Konta will be back. I am sure. There is

:40:33.:40:40.

lots to come for her, the Olympics in August and plenty of other court

:40:41.:40:46.

events. But for Genie the next draw is not easy, Dominika Cibulkova. A

:40:47.:40:54.

champion in Eastbourne last week. Played a wonderful match against

:40:55.:41:00.

Daria Gavrilova on Court number 18 a few moments ago. It is good to see

:41:01.:41:14.

her smile, isn't it? Yes, it is. Sometimes you have to have the lows

:41:15.:41:19.

for these types of highs to be even sweeter the second time around.

:41:20.:41:32.

Engaging character. She has a big fan base. She used to have the Genie

:41:33.:41:37.

army behind her. I wonder where they have gone actually. They will be

:41:38.:41:44.

back. I am sure they will. Here she is.

:41:45.:41:51.

Very well done, and match of fluctuating fortunes. First set and,

:41:52.:41:56.

second set not so good, how tough was it to regain your composure head

:41:57.:42:01.

of the third set? It was very important. She hits a big bore and

:42:02.:42:07.

plays good tennis and she was dominating so I told myself I had to

:42:08.:42:12.

be bold and I did that. You were on the Centre Court by chance today,

:42:13.:42:18.

how much do you enjoy this arena? I love it, there is nothing like

:42:19.:42:22.

walking out on Centre Court at Wimbledon and I played good tennis,

:42:23.:42:28.

so I am happy today. You have such trials and tribulations since the

:42:29.:42:33.

final in 2014, how much stronger RU now as a player and a person? I have

:42:34.:42:39.

definitely learnt a lot. There are ups and downs in ten is just like in

:42:40.:42:44.

life and I feel better on the court and stronger mentally and

:42:45.:42:49.

physically. A question about Dominika Cibulkova, you have had a

:42:50.:42:54.

good record against terror. Yes, but every match is a battle and I will

:42:55.:42:59.

give everything I can. It is Wimbledon, it is the only thing you

:43:00.:43:06.

can do. SUE BARKER: It has been a roller-coaster over the last couple

:43:07.:43:10.

of years since she made the final surprisingly two years ago. She

:43:11.:43:14.

dipped down the rankings, but she is showing now she is back in form and

:43:15.:43:20.

heading back to the top of the game again. Johanna Konta had her chances

:43:21.:43:27.

with three breaks and had chances in the third. Some wonderful tennis

:43:28.:43:32.

from both players, really hard-hitting battle on Centre Court,

:43:33.:43:36.

but it is Eugenie Bouchard who goes through to the next round. Let's

:43:37.:43:41.

show you what was happening on Court number two. This was this horrible

:43:42.:43:46.

injury that young -year-old Ana Konjuh of Croatia got. You can see

:43:47.:43:50.

her ankle really does severely turn over. She is in obvious pain. She

:43:51.:43:57.

cannot even put any weight on it. Not down and out although she had

:43:58.:44:03.

tears at the change of ends. The trainer is on and she strapped up

:44:04.:44:06.

the ankle, but you could see she could not walk. She lost on her

:44:07.:44:15.

serve and she is hobbling around the court and doing her best to stay in

:44:16.:44:20.

the points, but it was only a matter of time before the number three seed

:44:21.:44:25.

won the match. It was such a shame because it was a wonderful match.

:44:26.:44:30.

The youngster from Croatia had some match points. She will be

:44:31.:44:35.

disappointed about missed opportunities. A brave effort out

:44:36.:44:39.

there and we will hear a lot more of this young lady over the years. Once

:44:40.:44:44.

the tears have dried up she will realise what a wonderful match she

:44:45.:44:49.

played against Agnieszka Radwanska. The number three seed survives, but

:44:50.:44:53.

only just. And will another seed survives? This is the eighth seed,

:44:54.:45:01.

Dominic Thiem, and he is two sets down. In that it is five games.

:45:02.:45:10.

Let's join our commentators John Lloyd and John infidel.

:45:11.:45:35.

That was a big, bold, positive forehand from the Czech player.

:45:36.:46:12.

Well, he went for it and the net cord beat him. One thing we can say

:46:13.:46:22.

about this match is they have both gone for big points, there has been

:46:23.:46:27.

no fear. They have made some spectacular points down the line.

:46:28.:46:29.

But that was a big point to miss. And a fist pump from the Czech

:46:30.:46:53.

player because he is one game away from victory.

:46:54.:47:07.

No second chance for Thiem. Jiri Vesely has just been so composed in

:47:08.:47:16.

this game. He thought there would be some dips mentally. But he really

:47:17.:47:21.

has not dropped his level. His serve has been phenomenal, absolutely

:47:22.:47:27.

fantastic. Thiem has not found a way to get into the service games. He

:47:28.:47:32.

has stood up very close to the baseline and he has not recruited.

:47:33.:47:37.

They have been similar points, but he barely gets his racket on the

:47:38.:47:41.

ball and he cannot do enough to get into these rallies. It has been a

:47:42.:47:46.

top-class performance from Jiri Vesely so far. The match has been

:47:47.:47:52.

very similar from the start until now, if we are approaching the

:47:53.:47:57.

finish. Right at the outset we sensed it was a match that had a lot

:47:58.:48:03.

of tie-breaks in it and we have had two already an Jiri Vesely has won

:48:04.:48:10.

them both. If Thiem holds his serve here, we are heading for a third

:48:11.:48:11.

one. What an easy game. Thank heavens for

:48:12.:49:15.

the tie-breaks or we would the industry at that! OK, Mr Lloyd, who

:49:16.:49:29.

wins this tie-break? I am going for Thiem, that he lost the first one.

:49:30.:49:36.

The hardy few who have stayed behind for this are now getting really

:49:37.:49:40.

involved with Jiri Vesely to begin this third tie-break.

:49:41.:49:59.

To me in the scheme of things it is a good second serve, that Thiem had

:50:00.:50:09.

that on his racket to get the ball into play and when you get a chance

:50:10.:50:15.

on the second serve you have got to do something with the return.

:50:16.:50:40.

Oh, that approach shot drifting long. The first mini break. Time for

:50:41.:50:52.

a cool head from the Czech player. That is brilliant! And the first

:50:53.:51:16.

shot was brilliant from Jiri Vesely. That is the point of the match. It

:51:17.:51:22.

is at such a key moment in the match as well. That might have been a

:51:23.:51:32.

match crosscourt shot. What a lunge that was there, that ball was

:51:33.:51:34.

dipping viciously. Well, the big man with the big serve

:51:35.:52:13.

knows it is his to lose. If you keep pounding in first service at 130 and

:52:14.:52:19.

second serve at 103, it will be hard for Thiem to get this next break

:52:20.:52:21.

back. That is one of the disappointing

:52:22.:52:56.

thing was about Thiem's performance. He has persisted on the first and

:52:57.:53:00.

second serves to try and take it on the rise early but by and large it

:53:01.:53:07.

has not worked. He should stand back and give himself a fraction of a

:53:08.:53:13.

second more to hit these groundstrokes.

:53:14.:53:26.

That might be a big moment. He had a chance on that one and he pulled his

:53:27.:53:34.

head up when he went to hit that background. -- backhand.

:53:35.:53:50.

I do feel that Thiem has to win this point.

:53:51.:54:20.

Oh, goodness me. Wild, wild. And Thiem now is in real trouble. Jiri

:54:21.:54:36.

Vesely from the Czech republic, number 64 in the world, and he has

:54:37.:54:42.

won the first two tie-breaks and here he is in the third with a 5-2

:54:43.:54:48.

lead and a match on the end of his racket.

:54:49.:55:05.

But Thiem is not the world number eight for nothing. Not the number

:55:06.:55:11.

eight seed at Wimbledon for nothing. He is not done yet.

:55:12.:55:34.

That was a big serve. Thiem more in hope than expectation you suspect.

:55:35.:55:55.

He is challenging. But it was out! I think he had resigned himself to

:55:56.:56:02.

being three match points down. But now he has got a chance to look at a

:56:03.:56:05.

second serve. Again taking the ball early. 122

:56:06.:56:23.

miles an hour on the second serve. Ridiculous. No fear. Well, after two

:56:24.:56:30.

and three quarters hours it is the moment of truth for Thiem, the

:56:31.:56:36.

highest ranked player potentially on the point of leaving Wimbledon 2016.

:56:37.:56:53.

What an extraordinary final point and Jiri Vesely with a huge roar

:56:54.:56:59.

knocks the number eight seed, Dominic Thiem, out of Wimbledon in

:57:00.:57:08.

three tie-break sets. 7-6, 7-6, 7-6. He is six foot six and 14 aces and

:57:09.:57:16.

heaven knows how many unreturnable serves and the big man is through

:57:17.:57:19.

into the third round. SUE BARKER: Two outstandingly

:57:20.:57:27.

talented 22-year-olds. We will hear more about them over the next few

:57:28.:57:32.

years. Another upset here. We have lost 18 seeds on this fourth day of

:57:33.:57:38.
