SUE BARKER: Welcome back to Wimbledon. As you can see, some blue

:00:11.:00:20.

sky over the city. Sad that like there is some sunshine at Wimbledon.

:00:21.:00:24.

The good news is that players are getting underway on the outside

:00:25.:00:27.

courts. Centre Court has a full schedule, under the roof if

:00:28.:00:32.

necessary. It is a lot brighter than it was a fewer hours ago. Players

:00:33.:00:37.

under way here on day five of the Championships. As I said, Centre

:00:38.:00:43.

Court is underway. A big surprise here, the number four seed, Stan

:00:44.:00:48.

Wawrinka, is 2-1 down in sets. Juan Martin del Potro, who came back

:00:49.:00:56.

after surgery, has taken the next two sets. That is live on BBC One.

:00:57.:01:05.

Other matches taking place today, on Court Number Two, they have been on

:01:06.:01:10.

and off a few times. It is Nick Kyrgios up against Dustin Brown, who

:01:11.:01:19.

is serving here at 2-2, 30-30. If you wanted, you can watch this on

:01:20.:01:25.

the red button. Plenty of other matches taking place. There are up

:01:26.:01:32.

to 15 courts available online. This is one of them, Tomas Berdych, the

:01:33.:01:35.

former runner-up, up against Benjamin Becker. The early stages of

:01:36.:01:42.

that five set match. A lot happening, and we will keep you

:01:43.:01:46.

up-to-date with progress throughout the day, but we are heading to Court

:01:47.:01:51.

Number One to see Venus Williams serving at 5-5. When she went off,

:01:52.:01:58.

it was 5-1, home lead, but she has been broken twice by Daria Kasatkina

:01:59.:02:02.

of Russia. Trouble for the 5- time champion. Let's join our

:02:03.:02:07.

commentators, Lindsay and Chris. Back on track, Venus Williams. That

:02:08.:02:28.

was a very important hold. Part one of this match, Venus Williams,

:02:29.:02:34.

Lindsay, Venus bite-mac hitting the ball great, part three has been --

:02:35.:02:42.

Venus hitting the ball -- Venus hitting the ball great. The errors

:02:43.:02:50.

started flying at the start of part three. The work toss issues, double

:02:51.:02:58.

faults, and she got off track. That last game was really important is to

:02:59.:03:02.

re-establish our game. This young woman, Kasatkina, has a lot more

:03:03.:03:07.

confidence in her game and in her belief on this surface. When you

:03:08.:03:12.

watch Kasatkina, she has so much time on the ball, reads the game

:03:13.:03:17.

well, steers the shots. In the beginning, she seemed overwhelmed

:03:18.:03:21.

with the pace of beans, but as the games have gone on, she is timing

:03:22.:03:25.

her ball better, she has moved back her court position to give herself

:03:26.:03:29.

more time, and now she is being consistent, making a lot of balls

:03:30.:03:34.

and really challenging Bean is. Let's see if she can keep coming up

:03:35.:03:38.

with winners. If not, every ball is coming back.

:03:39.:03:48.

Those were the errors that Kasatkina had cut out of the game. -- out of

:03:49.:04:19.

her game. Those were the long rallies that

:04:20.:05:10.

Kasatkina could not get going at the start of this match. It has -- she

:05:11.:05:16.

has given herself more time, lengthened her shot to bits that

:05:17.:05:23.

Venus cannot stand the baseline. -- lengthen her shots a bit so that

:05:24.:05:30.

Venus cannot stand the base -- stand in the baseline area. Will there be

:05:31.:05:39.

a challenge? There will. She has always looked at Marianna Galvez

:05:40.:05:40.

first for a bit of guidance. For someone making her debut, she

:05:41.:06:27.

looks so composed. Just 19, the only teenager left in the women's trawl.

:06:28.:06:38.

-- the women's draw. Fourth Grand Slam in a row, fourth time into the

:06:39.:06:41.

second round. CROWD GROANS

:06:42.:07:15.

Venus Williams will be relieved to take that first set 7-5 in 40

:07:16.:07:27.

minutes. When I mentioned composure, she falls apart. That was not a way

:07:28.:07:31.

to give away the set after fighting so hard to get back into it. A

:07:32.:07:35.

double fault and an easy forehand thereof the first shot. -- and easy

:07:36.:07:46.

forehand there off the first shot. Kasatkina was unable to make Venus

:07:47.:07:47.

Williams play there. She has intense eyes, hasn't she?

:07:48.:08:05.

And intense focus. One of our best qualities as our competitiveness. Ms

:08:06.:08:10.

Atkin cannot give Venus that many second serves. -- Kasatkina. As soon

:08:11.:08:21.

as she makes contact with the second serve, she needs to get back quicker

:08:22.:08:25.

and play defence. Also, the approach to the net - you normally see Venus

:08:26.:08:31.

win more points than lose when she goes forward, but Kasatkina puts

:08:32.:08:35.

forward volleys in difficult positions for Venus. It is not going

:08:36.:08:45.

to rain any more. Stop looking. You're very optimistic, Chris! It

:08:46.:08:56.

does look better, the sky. It does. They met in Auckland on a hard-core.

:08:57.:09:02.

I wonder how different it feels for Kasatkina playing Venus Williams on

:09:03.:09:04.

a grass court. This is the beginning of the second set.

:09:05.:09:35.

You played Venus on hard and grass - what are the differences in her game

:09:36.:09:42.

was Mike yellow that she is more aggressive on grass, more willing to

:09:43.:09:45.

take balls early, following them to the net. She has always stood well

:09:46.:09:51.

inside the baseline to return serves, inspection the second

:09:52.:09:57.

serves. -- especially second serves. And she was doing that at the

:09:58.:10:00.

beginning of this match. But these last few games, this is not the way

:10:01.:10:07.

that Venus can play and still be a contender at Wimbledon. You can see

:10:08.:10:17.

is year -- she is not being so aggressive with her mindset. That is

:10:18.:10:22.

a good serve. The toss was more in front, really went after that one.

:10:23.:11:21.

Three double faults in her service game yesterday, a couple today.

:11:22.:11:29.

Drifting again a little. Another break point.

:11:30.:11:43.

That the play there. Good serve, sets her balance, hits and does not

:11:44.:12:06.

wait to see what happens. She knows she's going to hit a good shot. --

:12:07.:12:10.

that the play there. I'll excellent forehand. Look at

:12:11.:12:26.

that, immediately starts following the path of a shot. -- excellent

:12:27.:12:38.

forehand. Look at that, immediately starts following the path of her

:12:39.:12:39.

shot. She let Venus off the hook, in every

:12:40.:13:21.

sense. She had done so well to get back in. That was a lot to do with

:13:22.:13:24.

Venus getting off to a really slow start. Her brother introduced her to

:13:25.:13:31.

the sport when she was just six. He is now her trainer. He looks

:13:32.:13:37.

excited. I think the chewing gum has lost its flavour!

:13:38.:13:59.

She has just gone away. She has had to focus, refocus so much in this

:14:00.:14:10.

match today. It is imperative right now. This could run away from her.

:14:11.:14:37.

That is too good first serves and even their cars cleaner -- even

:14:38.:14:49.

though Kasatkina is making first serves, it is about controlling

:14:50.:14:53.

those first service games. That kind of miss therefrom

:14:54.:15:42.

Kasatkina doesn't happen on other surfaces. The grass plays havoc with

:15:43.:15:52.

deep groundstrokes. Much harder to find your timing, and that is one of

:15:53.:15:56.

the reasons why Venus has been so successful on this surface. The

:15:57.:16:03.

record here is one 78 games, lost 12. -- 78 matches, lost 12.

:16:04.:16:24.

She is heading towards win number 79. A set and a break up.

:16:25.:16:42.

Virtually full again, number one Court. 11 and a half thousand seats,

:16:43.:16:48.

bathed in sunshine. That's a better return there, one of

:16:49.:17:50.

the best Kasatkina as hit. She talk about early -- she took that early

:17:51.:17:57.

and look at her inside the baseline, moving at an angle to take it early.

:17:58.:18:17.

She's certainly got the focus back on those two points, Kasatkina.

:18:18.:18:23.

She's a great competitor from what we've seen so far in her early

:18:24.:18:25.

career. Oh, that is an aggressive return

:18:26.:19:37.

again. And there is such a difference between being as pars-mac

:19:38.:19:41.

first and second serve and Kasatkina as pars-mac first and second serve

:19:42.:19:43.

and Kasatkina has adjusted to that these last few return games. --

:19:44.:19:52.

there is such a difference between Venus's first and second serve. She

:19:53.:19:59.

breaks straight back and is back on track.

:20:00.:20:23.

What do you think is left in terms of ambition for Venus? She just

:20:24.:20:34.

loves the life, she loves the sport, and maybe doesn't talk about it as

:20:35.:20:38.

much as Roger, and Roger is obviously still challenging for

:20:39.:20:43.

grand slam titles, but I truly think Venus is doing exactly what she

:20:44.:20:46.

wants to do. There's an outside chance she could make a run at a

:20:47.:20:53.

major a game. It would certainly be here because of her ability to break

:20:54.:21:00.

down those short points. It certainly seems her body has begun

:21:01.:21:05.

to break down at the other majors, where you have to be able to do 13

:21:06.:21:11.

or 14 games -- days. I'm not sure even she knows. It is the same as

:21:12.:21:16.

Roger Federer, because his best chance of winning another major

:21:17.:21:25.

would be here as well? Yes, for example at the French, it is longer

:21:26.:21:26.

points, long the matches. Interesting web-based these two

:21:27.:22:29.

players -- interesting that both these players are not playing at the

:22:30.:22:35.

same level. The level that Venus was at was so high, and now the match

:22:36.:22:41.

seems a little low. It is almost like they need to play three out of

:22:42.:22:45.

five with the interruptions they have had today, just to focus.

:22:46.:22:53.

That is just the great grass court play of Venus and that is something

:22:54.:22:59.

you don't see her do much on the hard courts, hit a return and move

:23:00.:23:03.

forward, but again, she takes her backhand return so quickly and no

:23:04.:23:08.

hesitation in trying to take that next ball as soon as possible.

:23:09.:23:18.

Second serve to look at on the first of the break points.

:23:19.:23:31.

One of her best second serves. And she needed it. Her second serve

:23:32.:23:40.

winning percentage have gone way down from where it was at stages in

:23:41.:23:42.

the first set. That is a rough error on break

:23:43.:24:18.

point. You've got to make that ball into court, make your opponent than

:24:19.:24:19.

those breaks of serve. She has gone in and out of this

:24:20.:25:19.

match with plain fence, -- plain sense, Kasatkina, and then putting

:25:20.:25:23.

herself into a winning position again with a good return.

:25:24.:25:39.

That really reared up. It was above shoulder height for Kasatkina to

:25:40.:26:19.

deal with. That is great hitting their game

:26:20.:27:00.

from the nest. -- from Venus. All of a sudden, the service motion looks

:27:01.:27:04.

to be a bit more in rhythm, with balls in the positions she wants

:27:05.:27:09.

them to be in. It was her fastest serve of the tournament.

:27:10.:27:19.

That is, to me, the biggest difference to me in Venus from eight

:27:20.:27:27.

years ago or ten years ago or however far you want to go back.

:27:28.:27:33.

When a player has the ability to pull side to side, she doesn't quite

:27:34.:27:39.

get around the court to cover things as quickly as she used to.

:27:40.:27:57.

Well, we've already had three breaks of serve in a row. The chance of

:27:58.:28:02.

four. Brilliant! That is the first drop

:28:03.:28:24.

shot. She's just sort of battling, isn't

:28:25.:28:50.

she, to deal with this slight disconnection? She's got a bit of a

:28:51.:28:54.

wiring problem but when she's good, she's really good. It's about

:28:55.:28:58.

maintaining it. That's going to be something she needs to work on in

:28:59.:29:04.

the next few years, the next few months. That could have been a huge

:29:05.:29:09.

game in this match. Venus had a game point and ended up being broken.

:29:10.:29:13.

Let's see what that Keane can do with that sort of momentum. -- what

:29:14.:29:19.

Kasatkina can do with that sort of momentum. She looks like a young

:29:20.:29:27.

woman who's got an enormous amount of self belief. Yes, some players

:29:28.:29:33.

would have got really negative, coming back and not winning, but

:29:34.:29:36.

good signs here from Kasatkina. For breaks of serve in a row.

:29:37.:29:49.

Kasatkina back on serve. That's now six points in a row for

:29:50.:31:05.

Kasatkina. This match has had a lot of changes in momentum.

:31:06.:31:36.

Levels up. No wonder the clenched fist, because she's been on and off

:31:37.:31:49.

a little, Kasatkina, but she's very much still in this second set. She

:31:50.:31:55.

fought so hard in that first set, 5-1 down, gets back to 5-5, then

:31:56.:32:00.

when you thought she'd completely turned the match around, that's when

:32:01.:32:07.

her level dipped again. Venus was 3-1 up and that's when that Keener

:32:08.:32:15.

-- when Kasatkina turned it up again. She's just got to maintain

:32:16.:32:17.

that a bit longer. So many drive volleys yesterday. I

:32:18.:32:31.

think Venus missed one. She's not missed one today. She's been so good

:32:32.:32:37.

at that shot, that shot through the years.

:32:38.:32:48.

That might be worth a challenge? Again, she doesn't trust her

:32:49.:32:59.

instinct of the racket? No, but that looked like it had good length. That

:33:00.:33:04.

was right in front of us and it looked like it had the line. This

:33:05.:33:14.

umpire, who is a great umpire, but there have been a view... It was

:33:15.:33:20.

right in front of her as well. -- eight U.

:33:21.:33:52.

Fantastic feel again. She had to handle a couple of deep shots. Smart

:33:53.:34:14.

play there. Venus well below -- well behind the baseline. Just as well

:34:15.:34:18.

for Kasatkina. Another one at 117 mph, equalling

:34:19.:34:43.

the quickest of the tournament for Venus Williams. She used to hold the

:34:44.:34:49.

record for the fastest ever, 130 mph, before someone else went one

:34:50.:34:53.

mile per hour quicker. That's her six double. She served

:34:54.:35:26.

eight yesterday. She came through with a good second

:35:27.:36:16.

serve their under pressure, Venus. Got caught reaching for that

:36:17.:37:05.

forehand. Needed one more step to get out wide.

:37:06.:37:32.

Well, that's interesting. She e-mailed that. Yes, we haven't got

:37:33.:37:40.

one step forward on any of these drop shots from Venus. Have to keep

:37:41.:37:44.

an eye on that leg and that movement. Moving Fullwood, it

:37:45.:37:49.

doesn't look like willing to do that. -- moving forward.

:37:50.:38:00.

Kasatkina has broken again. Staring at 1-4 at one stage, now she's

:38:01.:38:09.

looking at 4-3 and a break. We talked about her feistiness, we

:38:10.:38:23.

talked about her competitiveness, we are seeing it now and the drop shot

:38:24.:38:28.

is really paying off. She's got to keep that in mind as this goes on.

:38:29.:38:34.

We've seen a couple of BT 's but even that last one, a pretty average

:38:35.:38:38.

drop shot, and it wins her the point.

:38:39.:38:50.

It will be interesting to see now how much she does actually use it,

:38:51.:38:58.

bearing in mind your point that Venus didn't even take a stride to

:38:59.:39:03.

try to chase it down. For any of them. There's been three, maybe,

:39:04.:39:11.

for? This is the first lead that Kasatkina has had in a set. She was

:39:12.:39:15.

always playing catch-up in first set. She has beaten Venus at the

:39:16.:39:22.

start of the year in her very first meeting against her. From a set

:39:23.:39:34.

behind as well, 6-7, 7-3, 7-3. Very different at Wimbledon, knowing the

:39:35.:39:36.

history of what Venus has achieved here. That must be in her mind.

:39:37.:39:59.

The nurse has been to the net three times as much as her opponent in

:40:00.:40:24.

this match. That was a loose ball there, a bad return.

:40:25.:41:20.

Just when you think Kasatkina is on her way, the same thing as in the

:41:21.:41:28.

first set, winds for games in a row and then really gives away the next

:41:29.:41:37.

two games to Venus. Her service game, really too many errors now.

:41:38.:41:39.

Two break points. Terrific defence. A fantastic job of

:41:40.:42:20.

turning defence into fence and staying in that point.

:42:21.:43:01.

Oh, wow. She's gone again. She had a low at the back end of the second

:43:02.:43:12.

set yesterday before she got it back together again just in time.

:43:13.:43:30.

Four points in a row. What a set that is.

:43:31.:43:54.

All of a sudden, she is serving to stay in the set. Kasatkina is back

:43:55.:44:02.

to using every ball that she can, using her speed.

:44:03.:45:07.

When things go for Venus, they go way off. -- when things go off for

:45:08.:45:20.

Venus. She is trying to encourage Venus. She has just lost her rhythm

:45:21.:45:26.

again on the ground strokes. That is when she has to pull the target in,

:45:27.:45:31.

find a target in the middle of the court.

:45:32.:45:50.

That is a good serve. Perfect placement, real commitment to go and

:45:51.:45:58.

explode up and into that toss. If you look at her results this

:45:59.:46:25.

year, Lindsay, we talked about that, she is 57 in the world, been years

:46:26.:46:33.

-- Venus Williams. These lows in matches, one of the biggest problems

:46:34.:46:39.

with her syndrome is fatigue, whether it be mental or physical. It

:46:40.:46:45.

is a real battle. Is it her age? I have no idea on that one! Kasatkina

:46:46.:46:53.

is going over some notes there. There is no question that these ups

:46:54.:46:57.

and downs in matches happen much more frequently now than they did in

:46:58.:47:02.

the beginning to middle part of Venus's career. She has always

:47:03.:47:08.

had... She has always gone off rhythm, especially on the serve,

:47:09.:47:16.

much more than Serena. She seems to lose her timing more easily than

:47:17.:47:17.

Serena. I wonder if any of those notes are

:47:18.:47:38.

talking about how to finish off a set against Venus Williams. Serving

:47:39.:47:42.

at 5-4. That is a good start. This will

:47:43.:48:04.

really test the nerve of Kasatkina, one of the biggest matches of her

:48:05.:48:09.

career to this point, serving for a set. So important to make those

:48:10.:48:11.

first serves in. Oh! That was beautiful. This is the

:48:12.:48:32.

type of tennis that has earned Venus five Wimbledon trophies, those

:48:33.:48:41.

stretch great wingspan. -- those stretch volleys, great wingspan. Too

:48:42.:48:53.

good. I have underestimated how great Kasatkina is. Not too many

:48:54.:49:02.

great players would have gotten this forehand back here. Great stretch.

:49:03.:49:14.

Point of the match so far? Definitely. Getting some of those

:49:15.:50:26.

colleaguess back, that is where Venus needs to be. -- getting some

:50:27.:50:30.

of those volleys back. That backhand missed by a long way

:50:31.:50:53.

there. Venus got the drop shot. She has done it! And she is pretty

:50:54.:51:55.

pumped about it, too. 19-year-old Daria Kasatkina, taking the five

:51:56.:52:01.

times former champion the distance. It is 1-1 insects. -- in sets. And

:52:02.:52:14.

very quickly, Kasatkina off for a change of scenery. Terrific effort.

:52:15.:52:21.

I am surprised she left the court after just getting all that momentum

:52:22.:52:25.

to win that set. It is not a particularly hot day. We have

:52:26.:52:30.

already had to stop a handful of times. Fantastic job down the

:52:31.:52:35.

stretch of holding her nerve and still playing her game. It is a

:52:36.:52:41.

similar story to yesterday for Venus Williams against the qualifier,

:52:42.:52:47.

against Sakkari. She will have to gather herself. She dropped the

:52:48.:52:56.

middle set yesterday. She lost her timing, the shots went off. She

:52:57.:53:00.

wasn't able to structure a proper points and hit as many shots off of

:53:01.:53:04.

her front foot as she did in the first set. Kozak and got much more

:53:05.:53:12.

consistent, started making balls, building points, extending rallies.

:53:13.:53:20.

What a great reaction. She is so used to winning, isn't she? From the

:53:21.:53:25.

juniors straight into the seniors. Great fight in both sets. 5-1 in the

:53:26.:53:31.

first, 3-1 in the second. Great competitive spirit. It is

:53:32.:53:37.

habit-forming, isn't it, winning? Yes. It is so important to learn how

:53:38.:53:44.

to win, had to compete, how to win when you are the underdog, and

:53:45.:53:49.

everything in between. What are your thoughts going into the final set?

:53:50.:53:54.

Is it still on Venus's racket or has Kasatkina got more to say? She does

:53:55.:53:58.

have a lot to say. She has been able to handle some of the power, build

:53:59.:54:06.

the points. There is a bit of a problem in the Williams camp because

:54:07.:54:09.

Serena is about to take to the court on Centre Court. Both Williams

:54:10.:54:14.

sisters will be in action in a few minutes. Nice problem to have to

:54:15.:54:20.

deal with! They have had it for a long time. They are accustomed to it

:54:21.:54:29.

as well. It was a cover time when they went through the period of

:54:30.:54:32.

playing each other so regularly, major after major. And the sibling

:54:33.:54:37.

rivalry and whose turn it is and all that. In boxing, the similar sport,

:54:38.:54:42.

you would not be allowed to fight your sibling. That can't be anything

:54:43.:54:47.

worse than trying to beat the sister that you love on a tennis court in

:54:48.:54:52.

from of millions. We saw it last year at the Australian Open when she

:54:53.:54:58.

had to play Venus on the way. It is an impossible scenario to get

:54:59.:55:02.

cramped up for a quarterfinal match when you are playing your sister and

:55:03.:55:08.

she is going for history. -- to get psyched up. There used to be

:55:09.:55:16.

speculation, but they kept their head up. They played to win. They

:55:17.:55:23.

have shown that throughout their careers. Magnificent Court Number

:55:24.:55:32.

One in all its glory. Henman Hill, overlooking the big screen. They are

:55:33.:55:38.

enjoying their day out. Will it be another Murray triumphed this year?

:55:39.:55:44.

Ivan Lendl is back in the frame. There will be a roof by 2019, so two

:55:45.:55:50.

indoor courts. It creates a lot of atmosphere, one for the fans. It can

:55:51.:55:55.

create unfairness in terms of how the draw pans out and how the top

:55:56.:56:02.

players can get ahead in the draw in wet weeks. Venus Williams to serve

:56:03.:56:05.

Venus Williams to serve first, final set.

:56:06.:57:00.

That will be important for Venus early in this third set, to

:57:01.:57:06.

re-establish her aggressive game, try to go back to shortening the

:57:07.:57:09.

point is how they were in the beginning stages of the first set.

:57:10.:57:13.

Good first serves, aggressive returns, good depth. The longer the

:57:14.:57:19.

point goes, the more that plays in favour of Kasatkina and her running

:57:20.:57:29.

ability, consistency. Backwards on that second serve. Lost all her

:57:30.:57:37.

momentum. Up to eight double faults, the same as yesterday. Just one in

:57:38.:57:40.

her opening round match. That forehand, that sends a message

:57:41.:58:00.

was flattened that one out, got more pace on it, really went for it and

:58:01.:58:02.

committed. The list, look at where she is on

:58:03.:59:10.

the court - well behind the baseline, very hard to hit a flat,

:59:11.:59:13.

low winner from that position. That was a big hold there for Venus.

:59:14.:00:36.

To get some meant back. -- some momentum. Big game for Kasatkina,

:00:37.:00:40.

establish herself in this final set. She is starting to believe in that

:00:41.:00:52.

forehand more, Kasatkina. It is an interesting mix, because at certain

:00:53.:01:00.

points she unleashes more. There are points where she is willing not to

:01:01.:01:05.

mess, other times where she takes more of a chance. She got her belief

:01:06.:01:09.

back in the forehand. Just a little too flat at times,

:01:10.:02:49.

Venus's shots. Again, Kasatkina has made her play more and more as this

:02:50.:02:53.

match has gone on. The majority of the first sat, she played at Venus's

:02:54.:02:57.

Temple - short, quick, aggressive points. -- Venus's tempo.

:02:58.:03:09.

One hour and 52 minutes in the first round, two hours and 24 minutes

:03:10.:03:27.

yesterday. Kozak in was much quicker.

:03:28.:03:32.

If Venus comes through in this match she will have two days off from

:03:33.:03:57.

singles play. Amazingly, whoever wins this match will be through to

:03:58.:04:02.

the fourth round, when Petra Kvitova is still waiting to play her match

:04:03.:04:09.

on Court Number Two. I'm not entirely sure why she wasn't

:04:10.:04:10.

scheduled to be first on as well. Pillar to post in that point,

:04:11.:05:52.

Williams. SUE BARKER: We will be back on Court Number One in a

:05:53.:05:55.

moment, but let's see what has been happening elsewhere. On Centre

:05:56.:06:00.

Court, Juan Martin del Potro has pulled off a surprise, putting out

:06:01.:06:04.

the number four seed, the two-time Grand Slam winner, Stan Wawrinka.

:06:05.:06:09.

And what a story it has been for the Argentine. He has gone through three

:06:10.:06:15.

surgeries, has not played a Grand Slam into the half years and

:06:16.:06:18.

wondered if he would be back again. TV is on the big stage. The Centre

:06:19.:06:24.

Court crowd are aware of his story. He is so popular and has played so

:06:25.:06:33.

many matches. In 2013, that 5- set thriller against Novak Djokovic.

:06:34.:06:37.

Juan Martin del Potro, very much back in the big time. Next on Centre

:06:38.:06:48.

Court, Serena Williams, just getting her match underway. Serena on Centre

:06:49.:06:55.

Court, Venus on Court Number One. That matches live on BBC One. On

:06:56.:06:58.

Court Number Two, Dustin Brown, he is pulling off a bit of an upset

:06:59.:07:06.

against this man, Nick Kyrgios. Not that man! There is Dustin Brown. It

:07:07.:07:12.

is one set all and he is 5-2 up in the third set. He needed a wildcard

:07:13.:07:18.

to get into the Championships but he beat wrap and thou and there could

:07:19.:07:23.

be another upset today against a seeded player. Back to Court Number

:07:24.:07:24.

One. Nice backhand volley there from

:07:25.:07:54.

Venus. Interesting to see in this third set how many times Venus makes

:07:55.:08:06.

it into the net. You have to still have those reserves of energy to

:08:07.:08:09.

still play aggressive tennis as the match goes on. Things are being

:08:10.:08:16.

blown around. Oops! So far in this match, 14 from

:08:17.:08:34.

22 at the net. 61 from 92 in the tournament, Venus Williams. They are

:08:35.:08:38.

great odds. I can't make my mind up about

:08:39.:09:33.

whether Kasatkina is a counterpuncher or... She's has had

:09:34.:09:43.

26 winners in this match. That is not all counterpuncher there. It is

:09:44.:09:51.

a great mix that must play havoc with an opponent's mind, too. Just

:09:52.:09:56.

when you think you're getting on top she can switch to run. The important

:09:57.:10:01.

thing for Kasatkina, she needs clarity on how she wants to play

:10:02.:10:04.

matches and change it when appropriate. She is going to stay

:10:05.:10:10.

here before heading to Centre Court for Serena. She is committed today!

:10:11.:10:31.

They were brought up from such an early age by Richard, their father,

:10:32.:10:38.

to be champions. You will be champions, you will been about one

:10:39.:10:43.

in the world. He was right. -- you will be number one. Your

:10:44.:10:50.

nine-year-old son is playing. Do you tell him everyday, you are going to

:10:51.:10:54.

be number one? Don't get hurt! Are you sure you still like it? I am

:10:55.:10:59.

probably the absolute wrong voice in his ear.

:11:00.:11:13.

There is that great play up at nets from Venus. The Williams sisters

:11:14.:11:21.

have a great mix from their father and mother. It seems they did an

:11:22.:11:25.

excellent job of maybe balancing each other out. Nowhere near as much

:11:26.:11:30.

presence at tournaments, Richard, now.

:11:31.:11:48.

A love game, a good message to Kasatkina.

:11:49.:12:03.

Nudging the scoreboard, Venus Williams. Back to Kozak. The test of

:12:04.:12:08.

character continues. Nothing. How good these thinkers at Kinnock

:12:09.:12:28.

could be? It used to be between 16 and 19, and now it seems it seems to

:12:29.:12:30.

be more between the ages More so with this generation than

:12:31.:13:00.

any other. Did you have coping mechanisms in your mind? Joanna

:13:01.:13:04.

Konta has different bands to help her. I had a view phrases in my head

:13:05.:13:11.

but perhaps I should have had them somewhere else. I didn't have the on

:13:12.:13:14.

court coaching that these players have that regular tournaments.

:13:15.:13:27.

Of course, the grand slams do not allow on court coaching.

:13:28.:14:00.

That is a huge change, for players who depend on that, the on court

:14:01.:14:08.

coaching, having to work it out for yourself.

:14:09.:14:39.

Fabulous! One of the big reasons why Dean is still plays the game are

:14:40.:14:53.

four shots like those. -- why Venus still plays the game are four shots

:14:54.:14:59.

like that. She still hits the ball as well as anyone out there. What a

:15:00.:15:06.

server that was. A kicker on the line out wide. Again, just amazing

:15:07.:15:10.

variety. Ahead on the ace count. That was a big one and Venus didn't

:15:11.:15:39.

really commit to that backhand. The body weight going to her right and

:15:40.:15:40.

backwards. Superb. Just a little nudge. We've

:15:41.:17:01.

seen it time and time again in this match, just the soft hands. It is

:17:02.:17:08.

just the field to get that ball into exactly the place that she wants it

:17:09.:17:09.

on court. The pressure is building on

:17:10.:17:38.

Williams. Until yesterday, she hadn't won a 3-set match this year.

:17:39.:17:47.

She is now one from five. Kasatkina has won nine of 16. She needed that

:17:48.:18:02.

one there. A big serve. That serve have gotten her out of trouble for

:18:03.:18:09.

so many years on grass. There is Venus's long-term coach. 13 years,

:18:10.:18:13.

they have been working together. He has seen a lot. A really nice

:18:14.:18:27.

personality for Venus, really laid-back. The two camps are very

:18:28.:18:34.

different, Serena and Venus. You see Serena's coach courting attention

:18:35.:18:42.

whilst Venus's coach is quite the opposite.

:18:43.:18:51.

Again, that looked tight. She didn't get through that forehand. Break

:18:52.:18:56.

point. She did that so well yesterday too.

:18:57.:19:21.

Served herself out of trouble. This is such an important game. She needs

:19:22.:19:26.

a few more good, effective service here. -- service -- service here.

:19:27.:20:04.

The 19-year-old is on the verge of something special here. Cheap breaks

:20:05.:20:16.

to lead in the third set, 4-3. We have seen so many big upsets at

:20:17.:20:22.

this tournament so far and we could be up for a another on Court number

:20:23.:20:29.

one. A result from outside, where Suarez Navarro is safely through

:20:30.:20:37.

against the player from New Zealand. She will no doubt be watching what

:20:38.:20:42.

is happening on Court number one as she faces the winner of Williams

:20:43.:20:57.

versus has an arena. -- Kasatkina. Serena Williams has not started that

:20:58.:21:03.

well against Christina McHale. That matches live on BBC One. We have

:21:04.:21:07.

been following Kerry said against brown. -- Kyrgios against Dustin

:21:08.:21:20.

brown. There is still a long way to go on that one. Back we go to court

:21:21.:21:27.

number one and Venus Williams in trouble.

:21:28.:21:33.

Big trouble for Venus Williams. Subpoena is serving with a break --

:21:34.:21:44.

Kasatkina is serving with a break in the final set.

:21:45.:22:17.

This will be important for Kasatkina, down the stretch it, to

:22:18.:22:25.

try to hold her nerve. Good service, know what she wants to do with the

:22:26.:22:30.

points. That might be to be very consistent, it might be to step in

:22:31.:22:33.

more. She doesn't want any indecision here.

:22:34.:22:41.

A quick look at the camp. No challenge.

:22:42.:23:45.

Challenging. No she's not? Yes, she is.

:23:46.:24:33.

She had to pull those margins, with shop location inside the court right

:24:34.:24:45.

now. The unforced errors will be hurting Kasatkina in this important

:24:46.:24:46.

game. The history achieved here may be

:24:47.:25:32.

helping her out. Kasatkina is struggled in that game.

:25:33.:25:58.

The break has gone. We saw it last night. You may have some wins in

:25:59.:26:05.

your pocket, you might be on the way up, but when you announce yourself

:26:06.:26:09.

on the grand slam stage and have your first big win against one of

:26:10.:26:15.

the best, it is a real big deal. You know it, people watching know it and

:26:16.:26:20.

unfortunately for Kasatkina, she just realised it before she was over

:26:21.:26:22.

the finish line. Just over two hours now. She is just

:26:23.:26:42.

missing now. What a time for a couple of

:26:43.:27:01.

sprinkles to just start falling again.

:27:02.:27:54.

That drop shot not quite as good as we've seen from Kasatkina. In this

:27:55.:28:03.

match, she was able to get up with enough time. Kasatkina is not

:28:04.:28:10.

playing with the clarity we discussed it was so important for

:28:11.:28:12.

her to have down the stretch. That's a good place. She needed to

:28:13.:28:56.

swing out, get some of the nurse out of her system. That's her 31st

:28:57.:28:59.

game-winner. -- clean winner. A game away, Williams, from the

:29:00.:29:45.

fourth round. Lindsay, you've had your coaching on

:29:46.:30:06.

last year with Madison Keys. If you were coaching Kasatkina and you

:30:07.:30:08.

could have a quick word with her right now, what would you be saying?

:30:09.:30:14.

It's really just about trying to get her to play, not realising the

:30:15.:30:18.

score, the situation, anything of that nature. And that's the hardest

:30:19.:30:23.

thing to do as a tennis player out there by yourself, with no one to

:30:24.:30:27.

share the concerns and the nerves with. It can get sucked out and she

:30:28.:30:34.

froze. She still has time to get it back and I'd try to encourage her to

:30:35.:30:38.

get back into the match, start moving around, I would think to be

:30:39.:30:41.

more aggressive right now. Playing a little too passive when she had a

:30:42.:30:43.

lead. Again, just a very little drizzle

:30:44.:30:55.

falling. This is already match part three. How much of it left?

:30:56.:31:01.

Kasatkina serving to stay in the match at 4-5 in the final set.

:31:02.:32:26.

Well done. That's good hitting from Kasatkina. Venus had a second serve

:32:27.:32:39.

in her strikes, some with the forehand, played it a little safer.

:32:40.:32:45.

We are not used to seeing Matt from her. Kasatkina was then able to take

:32:46.:32:47.

hold of the point. She's done that well all match. A

:32:48.:33:17.

wrong footer into the Williams backhand.

:33:18.:33:39.

Fifth double fault sets up match point Bob Venus williams.

:33:40.:34:03.

Nice recovery from Kasatkina there with a great first serve. She is

:34:04.:34:16.

just hesitating a little bit with her return, Venus williams, not

:34:17.:34:17.

getting clean hits. Didn't move, didn't bend her legs at

:34:18.:34:50.

all there, Venus. The excitement is building here.

:34:51.:35:25.

Match point saved. It is 5-5. What a hole there from Kasatkina. Getting

:35:26.:35:30.

down early and then serving the double fault to give Venus the match

:35:31.:35:37.

point but Venus did not go after the winner there and Kasatkina was up to

:35:38.:35:39.

the challenge. As you got older in your career, did

:35:40.:36:06.

you get more nervous finishing matches? Absolutely, it is harder.

:36:07.:36:13.

It means more, the realisation of what is going on. A smiling Venus

:36:14.:36:21.

Williams. A bit of luck always helps but she

:36:22.:37:33.

certainly went over that game better. A love hold. Venus, 6-5.

:37:34.:37:45.

It's interesting, the point you made. Kasatkina serving in her last

:37:46.:37:52.

game, she was always -- almost trying to get the ball in without

:37:53.:37:56.

trying to win the game. Very different then. Very different. The

:37:57.:38:04.

pace of return increased, trying to take points earlier. She's got to go

:38:05.:38:08.

after this win, Venus, while both players do, but for Venus, it is

:38:09.:38:15.

about going after the ball instead of just getting them in. Do you

:38:16.:38:19.

think because she isn't getting so many free returns -- so many free

:38:20.:38:26.

points on her serve now, that she is not save easy in the return? It

:38:27.:38:32.

certainly wasn't often that she was woken so often in a match ten or 15

:38:33.:38:38.

years ago. Still, she puts so much pressure on players when she is

:38:39.:38:41.

looking to make things happen with the return. It leads to better

:38:42.:38:44.

results for Venus. For the second time, Kasatkina is

:38:45.:39:00.

serving to stay in the match. Is that it? -- is back in? We shall

:39:01.:39:21.

see. Awfully close. You were right, Chris. I thought

:39:22.:39:43.

that might have caught. Thank you, Hawk-Eye.

:39:44.:39:54.

Should Hawk-Eye be on every match court here? No doubt.

:39:55.:40:27.

She tried to go after it, didn't she, Williams? She did and that was

:40:28.:40:36.

just one of those points that you have two say was too good from

:40:37.:40:40.

Kasatkina. She got great depth and fought it well.

:40:41.:40:53.

The no problem this time. Kasatkina olds to love to stay in this final

:40:54.:41:11.

set. No tie-breaks, of course, final set. As a result, they both go back

:41:12.:41:24.

to the full three unsuccessful challenges now. For the next 12

:41:25.:41:30.

games, if it goes to 12, of course! Venus had to be careful here when

:41:31.:42:27.

she changes direction. If she's going to go up the line, she's got

:42:28.:42:31.

to give herself a lot of margin inside that sideline.

:42:32.:43:11.

UMPIRE: Ms Darya Kasatkina challenged the call. The ball was

:43:12.:43:27.

called in. 15-30. Ms Kasatkina, two challenges remaining.

:43:28.:43:57.

Venus getting much more depressive with her second serve. 90 miles per

:43:58.:44:15.

hour. Erve. 90 miles per hour. -- much more aggressive. Fastest second

:44:16.:44:18.

serve of the match. APPLAUSE. Hit that one with

:44:19.:44:48.

authority. Oh, she missed it. Is that wishful

:44:49.:45:23.

thinking, walking to the chair. Another one for Hawk-Eye to add to

:45:24.:45:29.

the drama. Just missed again on that sideline.

:45:30.:45:33.

UMPIRE: Ms Williams has two challenges remaining.

:45:34.:45:51.

Great serve, 93 miles an hour, more spin. Really got that one tailing

:45:52.:46:00.

away. It is not always about the speed.

:46:01.:46:09.

Same again. Great hold from 0-30. Williams nudges ahead again.

:46:10.:46:24.

Two hours and 22 minutes. Two minutes shy of the match played

:46:25.:46:35.

yesterday. Venus drawing on all of her experience there. Venus has

:46:36.:46:42.

played a lot of tennis this week. Kasatkina has only played one match.

:46:43.:46:49.

But Venus... She's been on the court for singles. We mentioned the

:46:50.:46:59.

doubles match yesterday. Yesterday.. That would make me nervous to see it

:47:00.:47:03.

like that. Short swing... Follow through. Just the reminders. Under

:47:04.:47:09.

the pressure of try to think straight. That's what makes it so

:47:10.:47:14.

fascinating for everybody here and everybody at home, who is going to

:47:15.:47:19.

handle this situation right here? A 19-year-old, Kasatkina. In her first

:47:20.:47:27.

Wimbledon. Up against Venus Williams in her 19th. For the third time

:47:28.:47:32.

serving to stay in this final set at 6-7. It's getting darker. Still a

:47:33.:47:36.

few spots of rain again. I like that play better from Venus.

:47:37.:48:22.

Hit with authority there these last few return games. It's really been

:48:23.:48:27.

getting balls in, seeing what Kasatkina would come up with. Venus

:48:28.:48:29.

has got to go after this win. Out! That's great defending by

:48:30.:49:20.

Kasatkina there. It has just got noticeably darker in the stadium.

:49:21.:49:22.

The clouds are really coming in. Would you believe it?

:49:23.:50:21.

UMPIRE: Ladies and gentlemen, play suspended. It's pouring and there's

:50:22.:50:26.

blue sky just behind the clouds! Second Match Point is not going to

:50:27.:50:31.

happen. A panic came over the crowd there as the rain came across the

:50:32.:50:36.

court. They started to scream and scramble. They have done a great job

:50:37.:50:43.

of getting the covers across as quick as that, because it is

:50:44.:50:48.

pouring. Wow! Can you believe it? Match Point! They go off for a third

:50:49.:51:03.

time. Her face says it all. But spare a thought for Kasatkina,

:51:04.:51:07.

because when they start again she's got to save a Match Point. Amazing.

:51:08.:51:17.

Sister Serena under the roof shortly, because they had to go

:51:18.:51:22.

outdoors, because the rain stopped, the roof was open. It's all

:51:23.:51:26.

happening on day five. Look at that look. Can you believe it, says

:51:27.:51:34.

Venus. Worked so hard to get another Match Point, and there was zero

:51:35.:51:37.

chance these players could play through this rain. Not a great sign

:51:38.:51:42.

for either player that they are going to inflate the covers as well.

:51:43.:51:47.

That means a fairly significant break. Absolutely. It's strange.

:51:48.:51:53.

There's a rainbow somewhere, because there is blue sky too. Obviously not

:51:54.:51:59.

coming this way though. For them to be straight away, to get the bubble

:52:00.:52:08.

up. The wonders of our British summer, Lindsey. So, 7-6 Williams,

:52:09.:52:17.

Match Point, but after two hours and 26 minutes there is another pause.

:52:18.:52:24.

STUDIO: So frustrating for everyone but particularly the players. I

:52:25.:52:27.

can't imagine what poor Daria Kasatkina is going to think when she

:52:28.:52:31.

has too come out and serve to save Match Point. Still, this ehave to

:52:32.:52:35.

wait on Court Number One. Not a match completed there. We'll be

:52:36.:52:39.

right back there as soon as play gets under way once again. They are

:52:40.:52:45.

closing the roof on Centre Court. Serena Williams, she has headed off

:52:46.:52:53.

to the locker room with Christina McHale tied at 4-4. We'll have

:52:54.:52:58.

tennis on BBC One shortly. We bring you tennis today from court 12. It

:52:59.:53:07.

features Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, twice a semifinalist, up against Juan Monaco

:53:08.:53:12.

of Argentina. We join it at the start of the second set.

:53:13.:53:22.

I just don't get it. I understand why he's hittingev ball down the

:53:23.:53:33.

middle. Oh, that is a wonderful putaway at

:53:34.:54:03.

the net. Monaco is shaking his fist in acknowledgement. What a backhand

:54:04.:54:05.

volley. Finds himself behind on his own

:54:06.:54:30.

serve once again. The ball perhaps checking on the

:54:31.:54:59.

baseline. That's perhaps why Monaco is looking quizzically in that

:55:00.:55:03.

direction. Two break points in his opening service game of this second

:55:04.:55:05.

set. UMPIRE: Game Tsonga. The third

:55:06.:55:31.

service game in succession Monaco has been broken.

:55:32.:55:39.

An inauspicious start to set number two for Juan Monaco. Monaco must be

:55:40.:55:48.

thinking he just rolled out of bed on the wrong side, because he has

:55:49.:55:54.

not yet posted today. Really he's done nothing to bother Tsonga, who

:55:55.:55:59.

in his own right has been very efficient.

:56:00.:57:15.

He's overcooked it! APPLAUSE. Did all the hard work with

:57:16.:57:24.

the drop shot but didn't finish in the backhand. It certainly looked as

:57:25.:57:29.

though Tsonga had a lot of room to lob the ball over Monaco. His nose

:57:30.:57:38.

was over the net. A rare foothold into the service game of Jo-Wilfried

:57:39.:57:40.

Tsonga for Juan Monaco. Simply too many unforced errors off

:57:41.:57:58.

relatively simple balls. Oh, that made him look unconfident.

:57:59.:58:44.

It was a wonderful passing shot. Tsonga elected to approach the net.

:58:45.:58:50.

It was a difficult first volley. It was low. Perhaps it would have been

:58:51.:58:58.

better to go behind Monaco. Hindsight always 20-20.

:58:59.:59:07.

UMPIRE: Advantage Monaco. The ball didn't bounce as high as Tsonga was

:59:08.:59:16.

expecting, but he also was a bit casual with his footwork. Now it's

:59:17.:59:27.

Tsonga's turn to look questioningly at the line. Break point.

:59:28.:59:31.

APPLAUSE. He's off the first one. UMPIRE: Advantage Monaco. Just a few

:59:32.:00:02.

errors creeping into that usually utterly reliable forehand. Second

:00:03.:00:03.

break point on this service game. APPLAUSE. 131 miles an hour down the

:00:04.:00:29.

centreline. UMPIRE: Game Tsonga.

:00:30.:00:43.

APPLAUSE. So, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga sees off two

:00:44.:00:58.

break point opportunities created by Juan Monaco. Consolidates the break.

:00:59.:01:02.

We remain on serve, with Monaco to serve. Down a break, 0-2, second

:01:03.:01:06.

set. APPLAUSE. Nice angle created on the

:01:07.:01:19.

forehand. From that corner of the court

:01:20.:02:06.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga saw the wind carry a shot into Doubles Alley.

:02:07.:02:10.

There was plenty of swerve on that one from Monaco, but perhaps the

:02:11.:02:12.

wind aided it as well. 0-30 down. He seemingly can't buy a forehand at

:02:13.:02:38.

the moment. APPLAUSE. Tsonga putting on a run

:02:39.:03:52.

and Monaco coming out on top. The longest rally of the match.

:03:53.:03:59.

If Monaco is to make any kind of run in this second set, desperately

:04:00.:04:06.

needs to hold serve here. Down two breaks. Say goodbye.

:04:07.:04:29.

That gives all players a modicum of hope, coming off the frame of

:04:30.:04:35.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on that occasion. Three break points have been seen

:04:36.:04:41.

off. Monaco to battle his way back to deuce. Tsonga expected that ball

:04:42.:04:46.

to skid through just a bit more. It checked and this time did badly.

:04:47.:04:52.

UMPIRE: Advantage Tsonga. UMPIRE: Advantage Monaco.

:04:53.:05:44.

APPLAUSE. What a time to produce that for Monaco.

:05:45.:05:57.

UMPIRE: Mr Monaco challenging the car. The ball was called in. This is

:05:58.:06:04.

a tight one. Certainly most of the ball was wide. I'm not sure if all

:06:05.:06:10.

of it was though. Let's see Hawk-Eye.

:06:11.:06:22.

UMPIRE: Mr Monaco has two challenges remaining.

:06:23.:06:43.

UMPIRE: Advantage Tsonga. So this is break point number five. For

:06:44.:06:55.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Won't want to be profligate on this occasion.

:06:56.:07:06.

UMPIRE: Game Tsonga. APPLAUSE. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga battled

:07:07.:07:13.

back but ultimately concedes again. For the fourth service game in

:07:14.:07:27.

succession Juan Monaco unable to find Sepp Blatter. -- unable to find

:07:28.:07:38.

serve. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga gives the impression he is a happy-go-lucky

:07:39.:07:43.

guy, but he is a fierce competitor. It's why he is able to, or he has

:07:44.:07:48.

been able to get into the world's top ten and stay there for many

:07:49.:07:55.

years. With an extremely subpar backhand. It's a shot that doesn't

:07:56.:08:04.

scare anyone. He makes it on occasion, but the percentages are

:08:05.:08:11.

very low. He has figured out a way to mask that, to play around it.

:08:12.:08:18.

UMPIRE: Time. To bring his strengths to bear. And it works well for him.

:08:19.:08:26.

That competitive spirit perhaps never more evident than when he came

:08:27.:08:31.

back from two sets down to defeat Roger Federer at the quarterfinal

:08:32.:08:38.

stage of Wimbledon 2011. Won all five of the five-set matches he's

:08:39.:08:43.

contested at Wimbledon. That perhaps the most memorable of all. Two

:08:44.:08:46.

breaks to the good here. UMPIRE: Correction, 0-30. Mr Tsonga

:08:47.:09:32.

challenging the call. A cacophony of call there is. That was a

:09:33.:09:38.

questionable call by Mr Murphy. My mistake, it whaps and was an

:09:39.:09:40.

excellent overrule. UMPIRE: Mr Tsonga has two challenges

:09:41.:10:06.

remaining. So Tsonga checking the ball for residue once again. He

:10:07.:10:10.

finds himself facing three break points.

:10:11.:10:25.

APPLAUSE. UMPIRE: Game Monaco.

:10:26.:11:05.

So, Tsonga failing to consolidate the second service break that he

:11:06.:11:12.

earned in this second set. Monaco breaks back immediately. He is still

:11:13.:11:14.

down a break though. And the Frenchman appears to have

:11:15.:11:50.

gone AWOL for the last five minutes or so.

:11:51.:12:25.

UMPIRE: Game Monaco. APPLAUSE. What a turn around here on

:12:26.:12:35.

court 12. In the previous passage of play... Juan Monaco was in the

:12:36.:12:41.

ascendancy. Racing through his service game after breaking the

:12:42.:12:45.

fourth game of this second set on the Tsonga serve. So perhaps a bad

:12:46.:12:49.

patch being experienced by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga? Or a lapse in

:12:50.:12:55.

concentration. Maybe allied by the tact that Monaco's raised his game

:12:56.:13:00.

as well and finding his forehand in the middle of the racket. That most

:13:01.:13:04.

certainly wasn't the case in the opening set, and then some of this

:13:05.:13:06.

second round match. As he has played in the last couple

:13:07.:13:22.

of sets, it has been the kind of tennis we have come to expect from

:13:23.:13:30.

Monaco. Nothing particularly special, but efficient. He had been

:13:31.:13:36.

anything but for most of this match. Perhaps aided by a very loose

:13:37.:13:43.

service came from Tsonga. Tsonga will be looking to stop the rot hit.

:13:44.:13:48.

He is serving. Still up by a break here.

:13:49.:14:01.

On the other side at least, at least Tsonga had the excuse of serving

:14:02.:14:07.

into the sun. Plenty of positive body language

:14:08.:14:27.

being exceeded by this man. Very animated. He is ahead on the Tsonga

:14:28.:14:31.

serve. That is a very good put away and

:14:32.:14:46.

Tsonga congratulates himself from that folly. Once again, Monaco

:14:47.:14:56.

failing to control the forehand. He needs to keep it much lower than

:14:57.:14:57.

that. He didn't like where the ball toss

:14:58.:16:49.

appeared. There is a swirling wind. You can see from the trees in the

:16:50.:16:52.

background just how much it is gusting.

:16:53.:16:58.

That one left the confines of court 12 and went into the thoroughfares

:16:59.:17:03.

in between. So, Tsonga get himself out of a love

:17:04.:17:18.

30 deficit to ultimately hold serve, so Monaco serving, 2-4, second set.

:17:19.:17:38.

That gives you an impression of how the wind is swirling around this

:17:39.:17:44.

part of south-west London at the moment.

:17:45.:18:14.

The wind has played havoc with the ball toss on occasion.

:18:15.:19:22.

Nice to see the umbrella is being used as parasols given the day we

:19:23.:19:31.

have had until this point. Yes, it is. I'd say this next service game

:19:32.:19:43.

is of the utmost importance for Tsonga if he is to finish this match

:19:44.:19:47.

off quickly, as I'm sure he would like to do. Remember, it was from

:19:48.:19:52.

this end that he dropped serve the last time. You have two assumed if

:19:53.:20:01.

he were hold -- if he were to hold, he'd go 5-3 and at the very least,

:20:02.:20:10.

he'd hold serve from the good end. I do believe the wind is into his face

:20:11.:20:15.

at this end he's about to serve. The sun is in his face. You have two say

:20:16.:20:23.

that has not been the case very often this week. -- you must say

:20:24.:20:28.

that has not been the case very often this week.

:20:29.:21:03.

Tsonga launching a challenge and that serve and my goodness, his eye

:21:04.:21:11.

is in today! Monaco still questioning. The

:21:12.:21:28.

authority of Hawk-Eye. Well, it is the final arbiter and so you can't

:21:29.:21:33.

argue with it, even if it is not 100% correct, it is pretty close.

:21:34.:21:40.

Monaco saw a mark on the court that he thought was wide.

:21:41.:22:22.

So rattling through that service game to hold to love and now Monaco

:22:23.:22:27.

faces serving to stay in this set. Interesting if you heard cheers just

:22:28.:22:43.

a moment ago, they are from Court Two, which is adjacent to this

:22:44.:22:44.

court. Nick Kyrgios, the Australian bad boy

:22:45.:22:59.

that most people love to hate, or just love to watch being bad,

:23:00.:23:05.

playing Dustin brown, who is about as charismatic a character as you

:23:06.:23:10.

will find. He is really loved around the circuit.

:23:11.:23:43.

This was dream time. You see the approach shot, the middling approach

:23:44.:23:50.

shot, certainly not very deep or powerful. Not going to be successful

:23:51.:23:55.

with that very often against Tsonga. How Monaco would like to fashion a

:23:56.:24:46.

break here to pile the pressure on Tsonga.

:24:47.:25:03.

He gave Tsonga the runaround beyond the baseline. I don't know if we

:25:04.:25:12.

could see it but Tsonga slipped at the back of the court. He might have

:25:13.:25:16.

hurt his heels a little bit which can be awkward but he seems to be

:25:17.:25:18.

all right. New balls, please. So, Monaco holds

:25:19.:25:49.

serve and if Tsonga wants to take this set, he will have do serve it

:25:50.:25:51.

out. 5-4, second set. This was the slip. He came back he

:25:52.:26:12.

bit gingerly from that. That was an afterthought, am I going to bend on

:26:13.:26:22.

this one? But initial alarm seems to have given away to optimism. You can

:26:23.:26:27.

see him though the loosening up his wheelchair.

:26:28.:26:54.

Tsonga has had all manner of injuries through his career but he

:26:55.:27:03.

seems to be moving OK here. Here he is, serving for the second set,

:27:04.:27:08.

leading by 5-4 and by one set to love. New balls. That is not a happy

:27:09.:27:15.

site for Monaco. Ace number 34 Tsonga. -- case number

:27:16.:27:59.

three four Tsonga. Closing out the second set in

:28:00.:28:32.

rapid-fire fashion. Tsonga Jo Wilfred taking the second set in 37

:28:33.:28:41.

seconds of play. -- Jo Wilfred Tsonga taking the second set in 37

:28:42.:28:49.

minutes of play. It was over in the blink of an eye. That is exhibit a

:28:50.:28:56.

in the book of how to close out sets. It is such a... Art might not

:28:57.:29:12.

be the right word but it is such a skill to convert closing

:29:13.:29:17.

opportunities. As you suggested it would, Peter, the first serves in

:29:18.:29:23.

and first serves one down from the improbable numbers of 88% that

:29:24.:29:32.

Tsonga enjoyed in the first set. That's why stats can be so

:29:33.:29:35.

misleading, really, because when you look at this set of stats you would

:29:36.:29:42.

say, who won the set? OK, Tsonga hit a view more winners than Monaco but

:29:43.:29:47.

that's about the only difference. That's as far as the stats go. The

:29:48.:29:53.

Argentinian will be pleased, at least, that he entered the match,

:29:54.:29:57.

because the first set and a half, he was abysmal. He really didn't do

:29:58.:30:04.

much of anything. Now he's playing the thought of tennis over the last

:30:05.:30:10.

20 minutes or so that we expect from him. Crucial for him though to get a

:30:11.:30:22.

foothold early on in this third set. Hold, break, hold would do nicely.

:30:23.:30:28.

The third set, Monaco to serve, trailing by two sets to love.

:30:29.:30:59.

Tsonga just miss cueing slightly with the drop shot attack. He is

:31:00.:31:13.

just flexing that he'll a little bit. I'm hoping that's not a vestige

:31:14.:31:18.

of the incident that happened up at the opposite end of the court when

:31:19.:31:22.

he skidded playing a two handed backhand.

:31:23.:31:29.

If it is, and I'm sure Monaco will test the mobility of Jo Wilfred

:31:30.:31:39.

Tsonga by giving him the runaround. Again, he's not working totally

:31:40.:31:53.

freely back to his chair at this change of ends. Yeah, and I'm sure

:31:54.:32:02.

it will be a concern for Tsonga. He's probably saw and tennis players

:32:03.:32:11.

get those sorts of mishaps more often than you might think. -- he's

:32:12.:32:17.

probably in pain. Sometimes they go away and you wake up the next

:32:18.:32:21.

morning and you're fine and other times they become something

:32:22.:32:23.

altogether more serious and you might have do take one or two weeks

:32:24.:32:31.

of. Or you play on thinking it's not so bad and then it gets worse.

:32:32.:32:37.

In that point, it was Monaco who was given the runaround. Tsonga able to

:32:38.:33:07.

stand and deliver, overriding that forehand.

:33:08.:33:26.

A wonderful service hold from Jo Wilfred Tsonga.

:33:27.:33:47.

Just past the hour mark. Jo Wilfred Tsonga has put himself in a

:33:48.:33:59.

commanding position. So we remain on serve, one game all, Monaco to serve

:34:00.:34:01.

in the third game. Yikes! Monaco berating himself

:34:02.:34:36.

audibly. That forehand spraying white. At least four feet wide.

:34:37.:35:32.

He is struggling to find the centre of the racket during the course of

:35:33.:35:38.

this particular service game. He finds himself facing two break

:35:39.:35:39.

points. Oh, delightful. Maybe Tsonga didn't

:35:40.:36:05.

do enough with the initial shot but good recovery skill from Monaco.

:36:06.:36:16.

Yeah, Monaco got up to that one in a hurry. Still facing break point.

:36:17.:36:39.

Well, that, the break of serve and it proved crucial because it Jo

:36:40.:36:46.

Wilfred Tsonga held onto his service games and here's Monaco serving at

:36:47.:36:51.

match point and so Jo Wilfred Tsonga goes through in straight sets 61,

:36:52.:36:57.

64, 63. He is free to face even John is that all Matthew Marsden. The

:36:58.:37:06.

number 12 seed is safely through and always a popular player here at

:37:07.:37:10.

Wimbledon. They enjoyed his entertaining style out on Court 12.

:37:11.:37:15.

That was earlier today. You can see the covers are still on. It is still

:37:16.:37:21.

raining. We are hoping to get a dry spell. They have said it is on the

:37:22.:37:26.

way. Under the roof, we can head over there now for life play and the

:37:27.:37:30.

Serena Williams, the defending champion, in action against

:37:31.:37:37.

Christina McHale. It is for- two in the opening set tie-break, so let's

:37:38.:37:40.

join them now. Serena gave up the first mini-break

:37:41.:37:57.

with her own double faults. Given half a chance and she knows

:37:58.:38:56.

it. On her favourite forehand. That's a brilliant pass at full

:38:57.:39:20.

stretch. Of the backhand slice from McHale. They shot she's not that

:39:21.:39:23.

comfortable with but she controlled it well. Back on serve again.

:39:24.:40:07.

Now, it has been called out by the umpire. It is going to be

:40:08.:40:17.

challenged. Was he right to overrule?

:40:18.:40:22.

Yes. 5-5. Great scrambling from McHale.

:40:23.:40:55.

Well, well, well. He's got ants in his pants! We must remember McHale

:40:56.:41:11.

was set points down in the 10th game. Now she has a set point of her

:41:12.:41:13.

own. Both players, both women have had

:41:14.:41:58.

set points now. Listen to be a plausible McHale. -- to the applause

:41:59.:42:03.

for McHale. Oh, my word. Just her third of the

:42:04.:42:40.

match. That's what happened to Serena these days. She does get

:42:41.:42:41.

nervous at the crunch. Set point. A very passive point though from

:42:42.:43:12.

McHale. First serve just 83 miles an hour. More like a second serve. A

:43:13.:43:17.

credit to Serena. She did not hold back at all.

:43:18.:43:32.

A change-up serve there, the slower serve became effective.

:43:33.:43:45.

Third set point for McHale. On the Williams serve.

:43:46.:43:58.

BOOING. The booing is that Williams has thrown a little temper tantrum,

:43:59.:45:07.

her racket has gone flying. Flying. And she gets a warning. She bashed

:45:08.:45:13.

it into the surface four or five times in anger.

:45:14.:45:24.

A crazy set there. McHale went 4-2 lead and Serena got it back to 4-4,

:45:25.:45:34.

15-0. The rain came down and they went off court for over 20 minutes.

:45:35.:45:39.

They came back on court and Serena was looking so much sharper, and

:45:40.:45:45.

Serena had that one set point. This was it. About 25 seconds people were

:45:46.:45:53.

thinking... That was called out. She challenged. And by the narrowest of

:45:54.:46:05.

margins Hawk-Eye said in. They replayed the point. Christina McHale

:46:06.:46:10.

saved the set point second time around and lo and behold now leads

:46:11.:46:14.

by a set to love. UMPIRE: Ladies and gentlemen, please

:46:15.:46:15.

take your seats quickly. Thank you. How will Serena rebound here, and

:46:16.:46:23.

can McHale sustain it? I think before Hawk-Eye that would

:46:24.:47:26.

have been the Williams set. Yep, a wonderful invention.

:47:27.:47:36.

Just glad it wasn't around when I was there, it would have shown up my

:47:37.:47:44.

deficiencies. All that's happened is the chair umpires are overruling

:47:45.:47:45.

less often. UMPIRE: Game Ms McHale.

:47:46.:48:25.

APPLAUSE. First game, second set. So a very point of view opening game.

:48:26.:48:30.

Serena, as she always does, walks straight down. You saw her

:48:31.:48:35.

thundering the racket into the ground and having failed to break

:48:36.:48:42.

it, it was thrown away. It nearly took out our cameraman! Well caught!

:48:43.:48:46.

He should have kept it, could have put it on eBay. Put your kids

:48:47.:48:49.

through college. Yes. Serena's mood has got to change

:48:50.:48:59.

here. That backhand slice making it so

:49:00.:49:33.

difficult for Williams. Serena at Indian Wells and Miami this year had

:49:34.:49:37.

some matches where she wasn't happy on court. Wasn't playing with joy.

:49:38.:49:46.

Particularly when she lost to Kuznetsova in Miami.

:49:47.:49:53.

She is in a hurry. Hardly pausing at all between points at the moment.

:49:54.:50:09.

When you start brushing you quite often start to double fault as well.

:50:10.:50:15.

Four now. Oh! Oh! Such a gift there from

:50:16.:50:29.

McHale. A half-try on that backhand from Williams.

:50:30.:50:35.

McHale really needs to capitalise when Williams is looking so upset.

:50:36.:51:06.

Out! APPLAUSE. Serena expecting that ball

:51:07.:51:40.

to go long and didn't mover her feet. She'll have to dig deep here,

:51:41.:51:46.

get herself back engaged. Not wide enough, that serve, as you

:51:47.:52:12.

Americans could say. Straight from the wheel house into the hitting

:52:13.:52:14.

zone. This kind of moodiness in matches is

:52:15.:52:51.

starting to show up. Last year or two.

:52:52.:53:06.

Mead the net 20 times already. -- made.

:53:07.:53:47.

That's brilliant. UMPIRE: New balls, please.

:53:48.:54:31.

Wonderful use of angle by Williams on that last shot. She wouldn't be

:54:32.:54:43.

the first great champion to use a little bit of anger to rouse herself

:54:44.:54:47.

and fight her way back into the match. To me it's all about the

:54:48.:54:58.

emotion here for Serena. Can she find that extra gear in in fact I

:54:59.:55:02.

think so many in tennis recognise that, because she was asked about it

:55:03.:55:06.

in press, does he feel fresh and'ser? Feel fresh and'ser? Does he

:55:07.:55:13.

-- fresh and eager. She said I would be lying if I said I don't feel

:55:14.:55:19.

fresh, but I don't feel fatigue. I don't feel fresh, but I feel hungry,

:55:20.:55:24.

super motivated, ready to do the best. First ranked in the world's

:55:25.:55:32.

top 100 in 1997. An extraordinary career she's had.

:55:33.:55:33.

UMPIRE: Ladies and gentlemen, please take your seats, thank you. As I

:55:34.:55:37.

have said before, it hasn't been linear. There've been breaks. A

:55:38.:55:42.

captain in the crowd. A captain in the Royal Box. Alastair Cook, of

:55:43.:55:46.

course, not on one-day international duty. England's test cricket

:55:47.:55:49.

captain. You know all about the rules of

:55:50.:56:00.

cricket don't you Tracey. A bit like me and baseball. Seven aces.

:56:01.:56:38.

Serena's camp has been pretty open about how much that loss in the

:56:39.:56:45.

semifinals of the US Open took out of her. She didn't play another

:56:46.:56:50.

tournament the rest of the year. Two matches shy of a calendar year.

:56:51.:57:02.

UMPIRE: Game Ms Williams. Serena shaking her head.

:57:03.:57:34.

Five sisters in the Williams family. One was sadly killed.

:57:35.:58:28.

Some second serve handled easily by Williamsment she must be recognising

:58:29.:58:36.

the attitude on the other side of the net, that McHale needs to

:58:37.:58:39.

continue to play aggressively and hold her ground close to the

:58:40.:58:41.

baseline. The smile says it all. That's

:58:42.:59:01.

probably the worst shot she has played in the whole match. You can't

:59:02.:59:06.

let your standards drop against the world number one.

:59:07.:59:25.

One thing about McHale is you will never see a change of attitude. You

:59:26.:00:00.

never know what the score is. Competes very well.

:00:01.:00:25.

STUDIO: Like the great champion she is, Serena Williams has raised the

:00:26.:00:34.

level of her play. She is 4-1 up with four breaks of serve on Centre

:00:35.:00:40.

Court. This is her sister, Venus. This is when rain stopped play. She

:00:41.:00:46.

couldn't believe it, because she had Match Point on the Kasatkina serve.

:00:47.:00:51.

Why does the rain come down now at Match Point?! She has had to wait

:00:52.:00:58.

some time in the locker room, but it looks like she will complete the

:00:59.:01:02.

match this time. It's the fourth time they've been out on court.

:01:03.:01:07.

There's Serena still with that leg heavily strapped. She has a Match

:01:08.:01:12.

Point against the 19-year-old from Russia. The 19-year-old had all the

:01:13.:01:17.

pressure on her. She will be serving at Match Point down. If you want to

:01:18.:01:20.

watch that, that's on the Red Button. We will show you what

:01:21.:01:24.

happens over on BBC Two as well. We'll keep you up to date with that

:01:25.:01:30.

one on BBC Two. But back to Centre Court. And the reason why the mother

:01:31.:01:36.

of the sisters is not watching Serena is, of course, she is

:01:37.:01:41.

watching Venus. Hoping that Venus will finish off that match. Serena

:01:42.:01:46.

right back in this one with the double break and 4-1 lead.

:01:47.:01:58.

This is one of those sets where Serena is hitting the ball so hard

:01:59.:02:11.

her opponent feels like they are along for the ride.

:02:12.:02:28.

Ride. UMPIRE: net, first service.

:02:29.:02:43.

Those are the types of errors we saw at the beginning of the first set

:02:44.:02:56.

from Serena. This is up to five straight games.

:02:57.:04:17.

Psychologically important for Christina McHale to hold and at

:04:18.:04:27.

least feel she's back in this mam. And at least feel she's back in this

:04:28.:04:29.

mam. -- this match.

:04:30.:05:16.

Pressing to do more on the second serve. Two double faults creeping in

:05:17.:05:23.

now. Three in total. This whole set, Serena not building

:05:24.:05:50.

points but it's worked. She's taking such big cuts.

:05:51.:06:14.

Nicely done, to stay poised and composed, a set getting away from

:06:15.:06:55.

her very quickly. But she's playing point by point, hanging in there.

:06:56.:07:16.

And Serena already be coming out to serve for the second second set in a

:07:17.:07:36.

moment. This is Venus, when play resumed. She has Match Point against

:07:37.:07:42.

Daria Kasatkina of Russia, the 29th seed.

:07:43.:07:51.

No, so not to be. She doesn't get the Match Point, and indeed

:07:52.:07:58.

Kasatkina went on to hold that service game. At the moment, Venus

:07:59.:08:04.

Williams is 8-7-Up. This is the current score at the change of ends,

:08:05.:08:10.

so back on serve, 8-7 Venus Williams leads. That match is live on the Red

:08:11.:08:13.

Button. What a thrill for that young lady.

:08:14.:08:34.

Watching one of the all-time champions really having to work

:08:35.:08:38.

hard. A strange frame of mind at the moment.

:08:39.:09:02.

Stunning. APPLAUSE.

:09:03.:09:11.

That's when McHale's at her best, she is really driving those ground

:09:12.:09:18.

strokes. Very flat. APPLAUSE. Over the line. Just

:09:19.:10:46.

barely. A little off balance. Strong enough to pull it back in. Set

:10:47.:10:49.

point. Fault!

:10:50.:11:23.

UMPIRE: Ms Williams challenging. The ball was called out.

:11:24.:11:24.

APPLAUSE. Now it's Christina McHale

:11:25.:11:47.

challenging. UMPIRE: The ball was called in.

:11:48.:11:55.

Serena is looking so irritated. She knew it had missed.

:11:56.:12:13.

UMPIRE: Advantage Ms Williams. Ms Williams has two challenges

:12:14.:12:25.

remaining. UMPIRE: Game, second set, Ms

:12:26.:12:37.

Williams. Second set then to the champion.

:12:38.:12:49.

And yet as she walked to the chair there was no joy in having won that

:12:50.:12:57.

second set. You just wonder if she's played so long on the tour, or it

:12:58.:13:03.

wears on her the fact that every match she plays, she is expected to

:13:04.:13:08.

win. It is only really news if she loses. A few second set statistics.

:13:09.:13:23.

Serena able to break twice, and McHale never given a sniff at a

:13:24.:13:26.

break point opportunity. Two completely different sets. The first

:13:27.:13:32.

long points, exchanges from the baseline. Back and forth. Serena

:13:33.:13:38.

very controlled in her emotions. Thought at that single Ike and still

:13:39.:14:01.

were not able get that at point -- it seemed as if her demeanour had

:14:02.:14:11.

changed. But not be able to think clearly, tactically, in order to

:14:12.:14:16.

come through like that. I cannot remember and other champion playing

:14:17.:14:22.

like that, even John McEnroe would have an

:14:23.:14:56.

of standing on the fine, fine ball early.

:14:57.:15:11.

there is not a lot of rhythm to this match. Serena continues to punish

:15:12.:16:58.

the second serve. McHale winning only 31%.

:16:59.:17:15.

They have got to come in and it recognised that are gay as

:17:16.:18:48.

great return but she needs to be better with her footwork.

:18:49.:19:57.

Serena did not do enough with that high volley. That should have been a

:19:58.:21:19.

winner. Gave McHale a lifeline there in that

:21:20.:21:27.

point. Just too big a swing off a 111 mile

:21:28.:22:18.

an hour serve. Compromise is not a word that Serena Williams recognises

:22:19.:22:20.

at the moment. Oh, timing completely off, but the

:22:21.:22:55.

feet are like cement there. Off balance. I think that's nerves.

:22:56.:23:34.

Mitchell and here. -- crucial game here. Serena will just get moodier

:23:35.:23:53.

if she loses this game. -- will just get moodier here if she loses this

:23:54.:23:55.

game. Couple of huge gifts there from

:23:56.:24:24.

Christina McHale. Advantage, Serena Williams.

:24:25.:25:17.

Desperately needs a first serve here.

:25:18.:25:39.

Two doubles. And she has thrown Serena Williams a lifeline.

:25:40.:25:54.

It is understandable, I've poked, or Christina McHale, that's what of

:25:55.:26:03.

creating one of the biggest upsets... Bat-macro I suppose. -- I

:26:04.:26:17.

suppose. No one bought that Georgina McHale would be able to get this

:26:18.:26:25.

win. That was an important break of serve. Here it is her older sister

:26:26.:26:33.

with another match I get 32-macro and that is it, Stu Winslet 10-8 and

:26:34.:26:39.

with its symbols and the doubles yesterday, she has been off court --

:26:40.:26:53.

singles and doubles -- Daria Kasatkina. Curig is it 5-3 up.

:26:54.:27:40.

There is no way of Court Number One that ought -- it is a barely long

:27:41.:27:50.

way. -- to Centre Court. Staff at the big game, I got through

:27:51.:28:11.

the Venus, I'll she must be thinking.

:28:12.:28:29.

If Serena wins this, a double fault and a wild forehand in the next

:28:30.:29:24.

point as well... She does not have as much experience on the big

:29:25.:29:26.

stages. It is a lot to ask of her. Suddenly Michaela has lost ten

:29:27.:30:24.

points in a row and the balance is changing rapidly.

:30:25.:30:41.

It's awesome. Possibly relaxed is the wrong word. Just less angry, and

:30:42.:31:05.

able to think clearer. McHale held from 0-40 in the first

:31:06.:31:45.

set. APPLAUSE. Really impressive from

:31:46.:32:16.

McHale. She's 24. Serena is 34. Just think,

:32:17.:32:32.

when she was a young kid, she must have watched Serena win so many

:32:33.:32:36.

Grand Slams. She's blocking that out well.

:32:37.:33:01.

A APPLAUSE. She's 69 miles an hour

:33:02.:33:58.

serves, she backed off a lot. After that winner Serena looking up at the

:33:59.:34:02.

sky, looking extra emotional now. UMPIRE: Advantage Ms McHale. Great

:34:03.:34:37.

resilience. She was down 0-40 in this game.

:34:38.:34:46.

UMPIRE: UMPIRE: net. First service.

:34:47.:35:11.

APPLAUSE. That was close! McHale is challenging.

:35:12.:35:21.

UMPIRE: It was called out. Serena must have thought it was

:35:22.:35:32.

close, because she started walking to the chair. That ball felt like it

:35:33.:35:40.

was in the air for an eternity. UMPIRE: Ms McHale has two challenges

:35:41.:35:43.

remaining. APPLAUSE. McHale targeting the

:35:44.:36:16.

forehand swing and lifting up. UMPIRE: Advantage Ms McHale. Serena

:36:17.:36:22.

had three break points. This is McHale's third game point.

:36:23.:37:11.

APPLAUSE. UMPIRE: Advantage Ms McHale.

:37:12.:37:40.

Well played McHale. Back in front. What a marathon game. Game. McHale

:37:41.:37:55.

coming through it, both players having a lot to think about during

:37:56.:37:59.

this change of ends. We'll be back in a moment.

:38:00.:38:15.

They put on a good show on Court Number Two. A wonderful exhibition

:38:16.:38:20.

of tennis out there. Kuznetsova takes the first set. The

:38:21.:38:38.

Russian has taken it six games to one. One. If you want to watch this

:38:39.:38:43.

match, it's live on the Red Button. And plenty of courts to watch

:38:44.:38:48.

online. Including the defending champion, Novak Djokovic. He is

:38:49.:38:51.

starting his campaign against Sam Querrey. You can watch that on the

:38:52.:38:57.

website. Connected TV or on the BBC Sport app. The weather is good at

:38:58.:39:06.

the moment. Back to Centre Court. The drama of the ladies

:39:07.:39:12.

championships this year. We lost the second seed Garbine Muguruza

:39:13.:39:16.

yesterday, and now the top seed is in trouble.

:39:17.:39:25.

The footwork needs to become a lot more precise.

:39:26.:39:34.

UMPIRE: Ms McHale challenging the call. The ball was called in.

:39:35.:39:41.

Rushing again. APPLAUSE. 119 miles an hour that

:39:42.:40:18.

ace. APPLAUSE. She's such an unusual

:40:19.:40:55.

mistake from Serena, particularly on that backhand side.

:40:56.:41:07.

And, of course, there is always that number 22 in the tennis world

:41:08.:41:16.

looming, when Serena plays in a major this year. And that's the

:41:17.:41:22.

number of Grand Slam titles won by Steffi Graf. Serena stuck on 21 for

:41:23.:41:26.

a year. UMPIRE: Game Ms Williams.

:41:27.:41:36.

The tennis media I think along with Serena probably impatient, feeling

:41:37.:41:44.

stuck at 21. We expect so much from Serena. You can see the pressure.

:41:45.:42:10.

Unhappy with the bounce. Serena certainly hasn't overplayed this

:42:11.:42:16.

year. Gist her 6th event of 2016. Scrambling so well, McHale. Terrific

:42:17.:43:05.

speed around the court. Making Serena play one more shot.

:43:06.:43:12.

Usain Bolt wouldn't have got to that one in time.

:43:13.:43:36.

APPLAUSE. Last year Serena was two points away from losing to Heather

:43:37.:43:45.

Watson. APPLAUSE. The forehand much cleaner.

:43:46.:45:07.

The last time McHale served from this end she was 40-15 up, and she

:45:08.:45:11.

lost the game. CHEERING. She's made it! Incredible!

:45:12.:45:41.

So much credit to McHale. She was on her heels right after the Williams

:45:42.:45:49.

return. Scrambles. Great racket work to find the opening.

:45:50.:47:08.

UMPIRE: Advantage Ms Williams. A physical game. She's defended the

:47:09.:47:29.

power from Williams extremely well. APPLAUSE. A bigger second serve. Up

:47:30.:47:37.

to 92 miles an hour. Felt the need. The tension around this court now is

:47:38.:48:18.

quite extraordinary. Players, support boxes and the crowd in

:48:19.:48:20.

general. An ace! What a time to find that,

:48:21.:49:23.

your third ace of the night. APPLAUSE.

:49:24.:49:34.

Inevitably we've talked a lot about Serena Williams, Tracey, but we have

:49:35.:49:40.

to say Christina McHale I thought when she was blown away in that

:49:41.:49:47.

second set it was all over. She has performed magnificently, despite

:49:48.:49:51.

missing those points to lead 3-0 in the final section. She has dug deep

:49:52.:49:57.

again. Incredible resolve, mental toughness. Someone at 65 in the

:49:58.:50:03.

world, only 17 and 15 for the year. This is not something that we saw

:50:04.:50:08.

coming. She has pushed Serena in the two matches they've played, and both

:50:09.:50:16.

of them have been this year. I certainly didn't expect on this big

:50:17.:50:21.

stage where Serena feels so comfortable, feels like it's her

:50:22.:50:29.

home, McHale has never been past the third round at Wimbledon.

:50:30.:50:31.

UMPIRE: Ladies and gentlemen, please take your seats. Has had tremendous

:50:32.:50:34.

success on this surface. Out! Almost begging it to go out.

:50:35.:51:10.

And it was well out. Definitely pleading.

:51:11.:51:39.

One forehand from Serena was very close at the baseline, but I liked

:51:40.:52:48.

that point from Serena. Built it a little better. Better point

:52:49.:52:50.

construction. Oh! You won't find that... Looks

:52:51.:53:18.

like she is saying, I've never seen her hit that shot before!

:53:19.:53:20.

Improvising extremely well. APPLAUSE. A far from convincing drop

:53:21.:54:52.

shot. Hasn't hit many. This certainly is very high. Plenty of

:54:53.:54:57.

time for McHale, but she's got down the line every time. Williams is

:54:58.:54:59.

reading it well. CHEERING. You will never ever see a

:55:00.:55:50.

better point than that. Unbelievable!

:55:51.:55:56.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE. CHEERING. The crowd are showing

:55:57.:56:09.

their appreciation. CHEERING. The serve was so slow, 86

:56:10.:56:37.

miles an hour, but Serena didn't move her feet, hit the ball too

:56:38.:56:39.

early. Both a breathing so heavily. APPLAUSE.

:56:40.:57:09.

UMPIRE: Ms McHale challenging the call. And just to add to the drama

:57:10.:57:15.

there's a challenge here. UMPIRE: The ball was called in.

:57:16.:57:25.

UMPIRE: Deuce. That was a clutch play.

:57:26.:57:31.

UMPIRE: Ms McHale has one challenge remaining. McHale jumping around.

:57:32.:57:38.

Serena is taking her time, needs more time to catch her breath.

:57:39.:57:59.

Cool, calm and collected from McHale. A quick first step. Just

:58:00.:00:49.

looking at the smiles of the crowd. What an advertisement this is for

:00:50.:00:54.

women's tennis. Whoever wins it is irrelevant. It's been fabulous.

:00:55.:01:19.

UMPIRE: Advantage Ms Williams. Serve, 83 miles an hour. Return, are

:01:20.:01:37.

83 miles an hour. Four missed first serves in a row. A crucial, crucial

:01:38.:01:40.

stage. UMPIRE: Game Ms Williams. Williams

:01:41.:02:12.

breaks and will serve for the match. This is absolutely mesmerising

:02:13.:02:17.

tennis. A wonderful quality of shot making, and Serena in charge. She'll

:02:18.:02:20.

be coming out to serve for the match. We'll be right back with

:02:21.:02:28.

that. Britain's Tara Moore lost the opening set to Svetlana. 5-1 up.

:02:29.:02:36.

That one is live on the Red Button. Back we go to see Serena serve for

:02:37.:02:42.

the match. Logic would suggest that Serena will now close it out. She

:02:43.:02:48.

has been pushed to the limit. Patrick, this is no time to be

:02:49.:02:58.

looking at your phone. How well she has fought. Just at the clutch

:02:59.:03:03.

moment, the first serve deserted her. That first serve an inopportune

:03:04.:03:13.

time for a couple of double faults. You might expect that from one with

:03:14.:03:17.

so loyal experience playing on the major courts.

:03:18.:03:24.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE. Against a six-times champion.

:03:25.:03:51.

APPLAUSE. Magnificent serving from Williams. Three match points.

:03:52.:04:51.

Three successive aces brings the champion, who has been tested to the

:04:52.:05:16.

limit, into the third round. Wow! There was a lot of emotion in that

:05:17.:05:25.

match. So many changes of momentum. Looked like Serena had won that

:05:26.:05:31.

first set. McHale dug in. Got a tie-break. A quick second set from

:05:32.:05:35.

Serena. CHEERING. You thought that would be

:05:36.:05:40.

the end of it, but McHale fought so hard. A terrific performance of her

:05:41.:05:47.

life. A standing ovation from 15,000 around the Centre Court. They have

:05:48.:05:56.

seen two-and-a-half hours of high drama and some magnificent tennis.

:05:57.:06:05.

We can all take a big, big breath. In particular the defending

:06:06.:06:14.

champion. I think she's trying to find out if Venus won. She did. Can

:06:15.:06:32.

I have another pen, please? An extraordinary day for the two

:06:33.:06:37.

Williams sisters. Featured in wonderful three-set matches. Both of

:06:38.:06:44.

them have advanced. Whatever the question... Question...

:06:45.:07:04.

Oh, she left her racquet. Is this the racquet she threw away, I

:07:05.:07:09.

wonder? She wanted it back. I think she's going to sign it. That's a

:07:10.:07:13.

lovely gesture. APPLAUSE.

:07:14.:07:26.

Almost speechless at the end of that one. Just those last two games,

:07:27.:07:38.

Serena Williams performed like the great, great champion that she is.

:07:39.:07:42.

And there we are, two-and-a-half hours, Serena Williams wins #w6-7,

:07:43.:07:55.

6-2, 6-5. Serena congratulations. For us watching, that looked very

:07:56.:07:58.

entertaining. How would you describe the match? Yeah, it was a really

:07:59.:08:03.

good match. She splayed great. She always plays great against me, so it

:08:04.:08:08.

was what it was. Just give us a little glimpse into the mental side

:08:09.:08:13.

of things. When you are facing a challenge like that, as you've done

:08:14.:08:18.

so many times before, how do you go about it? I know mentally nobody can

:08:19.:08:24.

break me. It takes a lot to break me. I knew I would have to put my

:08:25.:08:31.

mind in it. That's what I did. Your poor mum having to dash from Court 1

:08:32.:08:37.

to see Venus and then to Centre Court for you. It wasn't easy but it

:08:38.:08:40.

was good. Congratulations. Well done. Thank you. Serena Williams

:08:41.:08:47.

coming through an absolutes classic here on Centre Court. She was pushed

:08:48.:08:53.

to the limit but like all great champions somehow she digs deep and

:08:54.:08:57.

finds a way to win. A magical atmosphere here on Centre Court. The

:08:58.:09:00.

crowd thoroughly enjoying not only the battle but the quality of the

:09:01.:09:05.

tennis. That was a great advertisement for women's tennis

:09:06.:09:10.

woman. A day for the Williams family. Venus winning on No 1 Court

:09:11.:09:17.

and Serena coming through 6-4 in the third. What great champions they

:09:18.:09:22.

both are. We need to get our breath back. I'm with Jim and Tracey. Jim,

:09:23.:09:27.

your reaction to what we've just seen. Spectacular tins. It's been a

:09:28.:09:33.

great day. Del Potro, and this match too. A high, high level. I love to

:09:34.:09:38.

see Serena when she's in warrior mode. She was still in it at the

:09:39.:09:43.

interview. Yes, she had her game face on in the interview. She does

:09:44.:09:48.

find that way to win. Somehow, deaddition so deem. She mentioned

:09:49.:09:53.

her serve. To have the best serve in the history of women's tennisment to

:09:54.:09:58.

know she can always call on that. Last game threeateses. It was such

:09:59.:10:01.

an interesting match, as there were so many different changes of

:10:02.:10:05.

momentum. McHale won that first set but at one point Serena had that set

:10:06.:10:11.

point and it was an overrule by a millimetre. Serena thought she had

:10:12.:10:15.

that first set one. And when she didn't win it... I don't know I've

:10:16.:10:21.

ever seen Serena play an angrier set. She was going big. We've seen

:10:22.:10:28.

angry players before. John McEnroe, he would outburst but then get it

:10:29.:10:33.

back together and be more focused. For McHale to be up 2-0 and 40-15,

:10:34.:10:38.

and double faults, missed that forehand return. That was probably

:10:39.:10:43.

the one point I would put the asterisk on, as Serena was looking

:10:44.:10:48.

shaky. But clutch point for Serena. It reminds me of that match last

:10:49.:10:54.

year when she beat Heather Watson. Ser ser was two points away but won

:10:55.:11:01.

7-5 in the third. Last year it seemed like the crowd were so loud

:11:02.:11:06.

for Heather. This year I felt there was so much tension. But the cheers

:11:07.:11:10.

for the rallies they were producing, it was quality of the tennis wasn't

:11:11.:11:18.

it? Christina can move so well. Serena moves, the power is there.

:11:19.:11:23.

The grounds, the big difference between them from a technical

:11:24.:11:27.

standpoint is the serve. Serena was able to get more out of her serve,

:11:28.:11:34.

but the rallies, it was level pegging and that was good. Christina

:11:35.:11:40.

is a fighter. It was terrific tennis. I can't imagine what it is

:11:41.:11:48.

like tonight in the Williams house, when their mother has to make the

:11:49.:11:53.

dinner. Can you imagine watching tennis like that? Boy! And when she

:11:54.:11:58.

arrived at Serena's match, it was like... It is a long way to Court 1.

:11:59.:12:04.

So much stress. With Serena 34 and Venus 36, their desire is as strong

:12:05.:12:10.

as it ever has been. And it wouldn't have been easy for her to say

:12:11.:12:15.

goodbye, it's been a nice ride a long time ago. But she is

:12:16.:12:18.

passionate, loves it. Steams be feeling well. And for Serena, so

:12:19.:12:23.

much on the line for her historically and she knows that and

:12:24.:12:26.

wants to lay claim to 22 and beyond I'm slaughter in aughter in -- 22

:12:27.:12:38.

and beyond. It would have been interesting if we lost them this

:12:39.:12:43.

early. Serena is through but only just. Reen suss through but only

:12:44.:12:47.

just. We are on Centre Court. Up next it is Britain's number four. He

:12:48.:12:49.

is centre stage against this man. Gather round y'all and listen to me

:12:50.:13:00.

while I do my thing. COMMENTATOR: I don't believe that...

:13:01.:13:19.

Unbelievable. How many times do we say it? Vintage Federer. That was

:13:20.:13:25.

extraordinary. COMMENTATOR: Championship number 7

:13:26.:13:34.

for Roger Federer. What a player really. Yes, Roger Federer faced

:13:35.:13:43.

Marcus Willis a couple of days ago. Now another Brit, number four. He

:13:44.:13:49.

had never won a match before at Wimbledon and beat dolling dolling

:13:50.:13:53.

yesterday. Ling dolling yesterday. -- Dolgopolov yesterday. He never

:13:54.:13:59.

felt that Willis had much of a shock or to push Roger, but Evans has been

:14:00.:14:03.

playing well and he is starting to come into his own. Andy has been

:14:04.:14:07.

such a great role model for him. The professionalism that Andy has

:14:08.:14:11.

brought to the game. It's starting to reverberate. Some of the other

:14:12.:14:15.

Brits are starting to feel it as well.

:14:16.:14:19.

It is a bit like the Marcus Willis factor here. A view years ago Dan

:14:20.:14:28.

Evans was ranked 653. He has recommitted himself, played a lot of

:14:29.:14:37.

Challengers. This is a guy who played Nishikori and tonic in the US

:14:38.:14:41.

Open a view years ago, made the third round. He has recommitted

:14:42.:14:47.

himself and he deserves it, he has put in a lot of hard work of the

:14:48.:14:52.

court. This is obviously a very different test, playing against

:14:53.:14:55.

Roger Federer here on Centre Court, his first time on this court. What a

:14:56.:15:00.

great opportunity to let it all hang out and see what you can do against

:15:01.:15:05.

one of the all-time greats. We all think he's going to lose, though why

:15:06.:15:14.

not just see if he can win. Absolutely, you have to walk out

:15:15.:15:17.

there believing you have a chance, don't you? Absolutely, it's

:15:18.:15:25.

interesting, he had that knee surgery and then he had the bad back

:15:26.:15:31.

as well, Roger. He has played very few tournaments. A couple of grass

:15:32.:15:35.

court tournaments, where he lost Alexander Zverev and he lost to

:15:36.:15:39.

Dominic Thiem. He hasn't had that success and maybe Dan Evans can

:15:40.:15:45.

about that, that Roger Federer hasn't had as many warm-ups as he

:15:46.:15:51.

would normally. He hasn't dubbed as though he's moving as well as he

:15:52.:15:55.

used to. He's been very tentative and cautious in his movement. Of

:15:56.:15:59.

course the grass is a bit more lush in the first week, though that may

:16:00.:16:04.

be part of it. But now we want to see some acceleration from him. He

:16:05.:16:08.

has been really cautious in the quarters of the court. I would love

:16:09.:16:14.

to see the serve picked up a bit. He hasn't been serving as well in this

:16:15.:16:18.

tournament as we saw from him last year, probably because he hasn't got

:16:19.:16:22.

as many wraps this year in match play and on the practice court. You

:16:23.:16:26.

said himself he's not sure where his body is, coming into this

:16:27.:16:30.

tournament. Said he would learn a lot from the first two matches. He

:16:31.:16:34.

hasn't necessarily played his best, but he's yet to drop a set. When we

:16:35.:16:39.

came on air this morning it was 11:30am and we had shots of Dan

:16:40.:16:44.

Evans arriving for his practice session around 10:30am. Now we are

:16:45.:16:50.

finally here! His nerves will be jangling in the locker room, he

:16:51.:16:53.

hasn't played is a big matches on the big stage and his -- he will be

:16:54.:16:58.

tense. There is managing your practice, managing your eating,

:16:59.:17:02.

managing what do you do with all that time? He hasn't had as many

:17:03.:17:07.

opportunities on the big stage. He's raring to go, he's run down the

:17:08.:17:11.

stairs, smiling, going to have a look and savour the atmosphere.

:17:12.:17:17.

Roger let Marcus Walker outburst yesterday and he is doing the same

:17:18.:17:21.

for Dan today. -- let Marcus walk out first.

:17:22.:17:24.

Well, it may be a Centre Court at Wimbledon but I tell you what,

:17:25.:17:47.

there's 20 of Roger Federer fans. There always are! He's been voted

:17:48.:17:51.

the most popular player on the tour around the world for over ten years.

:17:52.:17:55.

He's always going to have his support. It's been rare for him to

:17:56.:18:00.

come onto the court and have the crowd against him, like they were

:18:01.:18:04.

with Marcus Willis and I think they will be today again with Dan Evans.

:18:05.:18:08.

Let's hear from Dan, he's been talking to John Inverdale.

:18:09.:18:15.

COMMENTATOR: What a way to win it! Is a truly convincing display.

:18:16.:18:30.

Another British player goes through to round three, where the Centre

:18:31.:18:34.

Court awaits him and on the other side, Roger Federer. This is a

:18:35.:18:38.

fantastic opportunity for you, isn't it? Yes, it's a tough opportunity,

:18:39.:18:45.

but stranger things have happened. The defending champion is out! There

:18:46.:18:52.

is a chance I can go out there and win, but I understand on the other

:18:53.:18:57.

hand he could come out flying and give me a good seeing to! It's going

:18:58.:19:02.

to be tough and I'm really looking forward to it and I can't wait to

:19:03.:19:06.

go. People talk about this all the time in the context of opportunity

:19:07.:19:11.

is taken and missed and squandered. Do you feel finally that you are on

:19:12.:19:15.

an upward curve and this is the next stage of that? Yes, you know, I

:19:16.:19:20.

would like to think now when I get the opportunity I would give it my

:19:21.:19:24.

best chance of fulfilling it, whereas before I didn't give those

:19:25.:19:27.

opportunities the chance and didn't give myself the best chance. Now I

:19:28.:19:32.

think I am doing that and hopefully give it everything I've got and I

:19:33.:19:37.

will be out there fighting. Can you pinpoint any particular area of your

:19:38.:19:41.

game that is much more solid, much more reliable, much more dynamic,

:19:42.:19:45.

that is making the difference? I think I'm serving a lot better now.

:19:46.:19:49.

My second serve is definitely a lot better. I've been working hard on my

:19:50.:19:56.

movement and my fitness. I'm looking forward to hopefully putting that on

:19:57.:20:00.

the court. What does a match like this mean for the people around you?

:20:01.:20:05.

Your coaching team, your family. It must be a massive boost for them.

:20:06.:20:13.

We're, it's not like we're all going to come to Wimbledon and have a day

:20:14.:20:17.

out because of me, it's serious. I've been given an opportunity and I

:20:18.:20:21.

have to prepare properly like I would for any other match. Get

:20:22.:20:25.

myself mentally ready for it. It will be a big stage. Can you treat

:20:26.:20:29.

it like any other match? It is another match. Obviously it is

:20:30.:20:35.

against probably the greatest player who has ever played tennis, but I

:20:36.:20:39.

have to put that to the back of my head until the end of the match.

:20:40.:20:42.

It's difficult but I will have to do that.

:20:43.:20:46.

He speaks well, doesn't he, Jim? He speaks well and he has quiet

:20:47.:20:53.

confidence. I liked the way he plays a lot. A classic tennis game. Very

:20:54.:20:58.

handy, he was well taught at a young age and he certainly has an

:20:59.:21:02.

appreciation for this moment and where he has got to. If he can just

:21:03.:21:07.

play the ball and not the man on the other side of the net, he will have

:21:08.:21:11.

the chance to play his best tennis. It's still likely not to be good

:21:12.:21:16.

enough, but he will give it a go. We saw it against Marcus Willis, --

:21:17.:21:22.

with Marcus Willis, the first set 6-0, and it's easy to get yourself a

:21:23.:21:27.

long way behind. Obviously it's important for Evans to get settled.

:21:28.:21:33.

It could be a wash-out as well in that kind of man. There's always

:21:34.:21:38.

that worry in the back of your head when you're playing someone who has

:21:39.:21:43.

won here so many times. The start is important, also to settle the

:21:44.:21:47.

nerves. He has a good grass court game, he moves well, he's going to

:21:48.:21:51.

come forward and try and attack. That is the right thing to do, isn't

:21:52.:21:56.

it? It is, he's not going to be able to hang with Roger at the baseline.

:21:57.:22:00.

They hit the ball is similar in terms of speed of shot but Roger

:22:01.:22:05.

spins the ball a lot more. Dan has the try and take his chances and it

:22:06.:22:10.

the ball up the line, try and change direction and really take the attack

:22:11.:22:13.

to Roger and see what happens. He's not going to overpower Roger

:22:14.:22:19.

Federer. Oh! Stand forward a little bit. Luckily it wasn't Raonic at the

:22:20.:22:26.

other end! There is his coach and the Davis Cup captain Leon Smith.

:22:27.:22:29.

They have both helped down tremendously. It is all about

:22:30.:22:34.

belief, it's about knowing that you can go out there and win these

:22:35.:22:38.

matches. For him it's also about staying within a point by point

:22:39.:22:44.

mentality. He needs to keep executing his shots to the best of

:22:45.:22:49.

his ability and if Roger gets hot, don't worry about that. He doesn't

:22:50.:22:52.

really have the weaponry to try to take it out of Roger's hands, he

:22:53.:22:56.

needs to manipulate him and move them around the court and do his

:22:57.:23:01.

very best. If he won the toss, I didn't hear but I would have wanted

:23:02.:23:05.

him to return serve first, get yourself a free swing on Roger's

:23:06.:23:10.

server. You don't want to be broken first game if you are Dan Evans. We

:23:11.:23:15.

were talking about Serena, here is Roger at the age of 34 and still so

:23:16.:23:19.

committed, still puts in so much work, doesn't need to do it by just

:23:20.:23:25.

loves the sport. Absolutely. This guy, at 34, is never happier than

:23:26.:23:30.

when he is on tour. Of course he brings his wife and his four

:23:31.:23:33.

children. I think that's one of the reasons he's been able to play so

:23:34.:23:39.

long and do so well. Roger enjoys everywhere he goes. They are just

:23:40.:23:44.

getting ready to go, so so are we. Jim is making his way to the

:23:45.:23:48.

commentary box to join Andrew Cotter.

:23:49.:23:51.

COMMENTATOR: Yes, what a night in prospect. The chair umpire, Pascal

:23:52.:24:03.

Maria, from France, in the chair. Thank you for joining us with all

:24:04.:24:05.

the sporting viewing options. Here we are and here is Dan Evans,

:24:06.:24:20.

ready to face perhaps the greatest of all time.

:24:21.:24:50.

CHEERING What

:24:51.:24:54.

A bit excited at the end of a long day.

:24:55.:26:13.

Talk about it being searched a long, nervous wait all day for this. --

:26:14.:26:30.

such a long nervous wait. The adrenaline must be coursing

:26:31.:26:55.

through his body at the moment. Well, we saw how important early

:26:56.:26:58.

stages of the first set were for Marcus Willis on his debut on Centre

:26:59.:27:05.

Court facing the same man. Can't tell you how much it would mean for

:27:06.:27:08.

Evans to hold serve here. That is my experience of playing a

:27:09.:27:43.

big match on Centre Court for the first time.

:27:44.:28:00.

It's a good second serve. The first challenge to his serve, break point

:28:01.:28:37.

for the seven times champion. Once again, break point disappears.

:28:38.:30:14.

Federer anxious on both of these break points, snatching at two

:30:15.:30:15.

forehands. Evans will have to escape for a

:30:16.:30:32.

third time. Evans needs to find a couple of good

:30:33.:30:52.

first serves. Well, now, the first double fault

:30:53.:31:36.

brings opportunity number four for Federer.

:31:37.:31:47.

Dan Evans desperately searching for that hold to settle but can't find

:31:48.:32:04.

it. Understandably anxious out there, Evans making a couple of poor

:32:05.:32:09.

choices from a shot selection standpoint. Really could have just

:32:10.:32:13.

sliced a couple of those approached shots on the backhand wing instead

:32:14.:32:15.

of trying to hit over them. Probably just about what we would

:32:16.:32:22.

have expected, given the situation. They follow Roger Federer everywhere

:32:23.:32:33.

he goes. APPLAUSE

:32:34.:33:13.

Is a convincing start on serve from Federer.

:33:14.:33:28.

That is beautiful. First second serve chance and Evans handles it,

:33:29.:33:36.

takes it early and finds the line. Another beautiful return. Evans has

:33:37.:33:57.

been playing his first couple of matches down the line on both wings,

:33:58.:34:02.

forehand and backhand, not playing conservatively. He's been going for

:34:03.:34:09.

it. Federer hits the accelerator and backs up his break. You can

:34:10.:34:19.

understand if after all that waiting, kicking his heels, Dan

:34:20.:34:24.

Evans were blinking in the headlights a bit, but he's not that

:34:25.:34:26.

kind of player or person. You hope it doesn't take that kind

:34:27.:35:30.

of quality just to win a point against Federer, but he produced it

:35:31.:35:34.

beautifully, down the line with both shots.

:35:35.:35:53.

You can be a confident, comfortable person in your own skin, but when

:35:54.:35:58.

you walk into this environment against this person on the other

:35:59.:36:02.

side of the net, you're going to feel something. And it's not going

:36:03.:36:07.

to feel good initially. Most likely an out of body experience for Evans

:36:08.:36:09.

at the moment. How many times has he dreams of

:36:10.:36:18.

playing on Centre Court at Wimbledon? How many times has he

:36:19.:36:23.

watched this layer across the net on this very surface. So it has to be

:36:24.:36:25.

intimidating. -- this layer. Too many double faults already

:36:26.:36:45.

creeping in. That is game. Evans is broken again.

:36:46.:37:11.

A nervy start from Dan Evans on this big stage.

:37:12.:37:15.

STUDIO So, it's all going Federer's way on

:37:16.:37:22.

Centre Court in the early stages of this match. We will be back on

:37:23.:37:26.

Centre Court in a moment, but let's show you what is happening on Court

:37:27.:37:33.

One. Sam Querrey of the United States, set point against Novak

:37:34.:37:39.

Djokovic on the first set tie-break, which he has taken! The defending

:37:40.:37:44.

champion is in trouble on Court Number One. That was a short time

:37:45.:37:48.

ago. You will be able to see this match online. Right now it is going

:37:49.:37:55.

the American's way again. He is 3-1 up and now a point away from going

:37:56.:38:02.

4-1 up against the top seed. There is some rain around and I get the

:38:03.:38:05.

feeling Djokovic would like to see some right now and then regroup.

:38:06.:38:13.

Tara Moore was a break down in this third set but she has fought back.

:38:14.:38:21.

We will keep you up to date with what is happening outside, off we

:38:22.:38:22.

go. Mark Hilton, Dan Evans's coach, on

:38:23.:38:41.

the left, and the Davis Cup captain, Leon Smith.

:38:42.:38:52.

To you feel like you have seen this movie somewhere before?

:38:53.:39:00.

Federer dashing the hopes of Marcus Willis so quickly in that first set

:39:01.:39:20.

the other day. Yes, that was a rapid-fire hold from

:39:21.:39:36.

Federer. Lots of comparisons understandably with the match with

:39:37.:39:42.

Marcus Willis. Dan Evans a different type of player to Marcus Willis. But

:39:43.:39:45.

equally up against it. When you're playing someone of the

:39:46.:39:57.

calibre of Federer as well, you perhaps chased the lines a bit more

:39:58.:40:01.

and think you've got to do a bit extra to win these points.

:40:02.:40:08.

I think the most unexpected thing that could have happened in this

:40:09.:40:14.

match was if Dan Evans was playing normally. You expect him to either

:40:15.:40:19.

play out of his shoes and just have so much adrenaline he is playing

:40:20.:40:20.

incredible. Or he might just start to falter and

:40:21.:40:36.

be a little bit nervous, which is what has happened thus far. But a

:40:37.:40:40.

chance now, 30-15. To settle in. Oh! The SABR is back, the sneak

:40:41.:41:27.

attack by Roger. We saw this last summer. He started doing it in

:41:28.:41:32.

Cincinnati and carried on through with it at the US Open successfully,

:41:33.:41:36.

actually, and then he shelved it this season.

:41:37.:41:43.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE The cheers echo around Centre Court.

:41:44.:41:58.

And again, talking about the comparisons which have been made,

:41:59.:42:03.

and understandably so, with Marcus Willis, because Dan Evans was way

:42:04.:42:09.

down in the 700s but he'll is a much better player than that and is

:42:10.:42:13.

showing that now. That was a knee injury that precipitated that and

:42:14.:42:17.

gave him his slide, but he has grafted his way back. Once you get

:42:18.:42:21.

down in the rankings, it's hard to get back up there. Playing Futures,

:42:22.:42:29.

and he reached the semifinals of a Challenger Event and then he won

:42:30.:42:34.

eight Challenger Event last summer and that has really catapulted him

:42:35.:42:39.

to where he is now, in this great arena.

:42:40.:42:41.

STUDIO We are going to leave this now and

:42:42.:42:46.

take you straight over to Court Number One, where Novak Djokovic is

:42:47.:42:50.

now down to breaks of serve in the second set to Sam Querrey of the

:42:51.:42:54.

United States. He's lost the first set and now 5-1 down. There is some

:42:55.:42:59.

heavy cloud around, some rain around. Let's join our commentators

:43:00.:43:07.

on Court One, Tim Henman and Andrew Castle.

:43:08.:43:10.

COMMENTATOR: Well, Sue, this has been a real shock. The serving

:43:11.:43:15.

performance from Sam Querrey, number 41 in the world, has been phenom in.

:43:16.:43:20.

One-way traffic in the second set. -- has been phenomenal.

:43:21.:43:35.

The concentration from Novak Djokovic. This man has won 30 Grand

:43:36.:43:42.

Slams singles titles in a row, lost in the French Open final last year

:43:43.:43:44.

to Stan Wawrinka. Up a set, 5-1, 15-15, does not want

:43:45.:44:10.

to be looking up and seeing spots of rain. UMPIRE: Mr Djokovic

:44:11.:44:17.

challenging the call, write far sideline, ball was called in.

:44:18.:44:24.

Djokovic for the last half an hour looking like he wants to be anywhere

:44:25.:44:27.

but on a tennis court. It has caught the outside edge. He is two points

:44:28.:44:37.

away from a two set lead. The fourth ranked player in the United States.

:44:38.:44:42.

Is the rain coming? CHEERING

:44:43.:44:47.

Ace number eight in this match. 51 for the tournament. Came back from

:44:48.:44:53.

two sets down against Lukas Rosol in round one, he feels invincible.

:44:54.:45:08.

Another just huge serve from Sam Querrey, 131, in the corner.

:45:09.:45:16.

Certainly let it fly in these first two sets.

:45:17.:45:26.

CHEERING Extraordinary serving performance

:45:27.:45:33.

but so much more than that besides. Composer... Focus on the task at

:45:34.:45:40.

hand, he is to set up on the two-time defending champion. The

:45:41.:45:46.

invincible Novak Djokovic. I tell you what, if Andy Murray and the

:45:47.:45:50.

rest of the top guys in the draw are looking at this, they are liking

:45:51.:45:56.

what they see. UMPIRE: ladies and gentlemen, play is suspended!

:45:57.:46:02.

Djokovic has had a terrible time. Two minutes past eight, Querrey has

:46:03.:46:08.

wrapped up two sets and who is to say he won't come out tomorrow, if

:46:09.:46:12.

tomorrow indeed it is... He wants just put this one to bed but he'll

:46:13.:46:17.

probably be aware that Djokovic struggled on this very Court against

:46:18.:46:21.

Kevin Anderson last year, worth round, two sets down and out and

:46:22.:46:28.

came back and won it in five sets. -- fourth round. The entire team has

:46:29.:46:34.

a job to do. Djokovic immediately off court. Sam Querrey getting an

:46:35.:46:43.

amazing ovation. He sure is. Wonderful performance. Who would

:46:44.:46:49.

have thought it, late in the day. Djokovic is two sets down! No wonder

:46:50.:46:59.

the family are nervous. SUE BARKER: truly outstanding

:47:00.:47:02.

performance from Sam Querrey, so many seeds going out in this

:47:03.:47:05.

tournament and Novak Djokovic has a lot of work to do, he either has to

:47:06.:47:10.

come back later today or tomorrow to win three sets in a row. What a

:47:11.:47:15.

story brewing on Court Number One. Just before we head back to Centre

:47:16.:47:21.

Court, as everyone scurries to go home... It is looking quite bright

:47:22.:47:25.

over their but that is what is left, the raindrops on the camera lens,

:47:26.:47:29.

rain all around Wimbledon and it's looking grim at the moment. Still

:47:30.:47:34.

playing catch up, a really disappointing week, all week,

:47:35.:47:38.

weather-wise. Heading back to Centre Court in a moment but some

:47:39.:47:43.

results... Tara Moore, the last British woman in the Championships

:47:44.:47:47.

has gone out, a gutsy effort from her against a two-time grand slam

:47:48.:47:51.

winner but she went out 6-3 in the third and final set. What a

:47:52.:47:56.

Wimbledon to remember. She hadn't won a match before this year, got

:47:57.:48:01.

through her opening round and pushed one of the greats. Kuznetsova goes

:48:02.:48:15.

through. John Isner is also through. No surprise, took him three

:48:16.:48:20.

tie-break sets, the first T1 10-8, the second 7-3. Up against Matthew

:48:21.:48:28.

Martin from Australia. Big John goes through and he will face Jo-Wilfried

:48:29.:48:35.

Tsonga in the next round. And what a comeback from Feliciano Lopez. 2-0

:48:36.:48:42.

sets down against Fabio Fognini from Italy, wonderful shotmaking,

:48:43.:48:43.

beautiful rallies right the way through. That error proved costly

:48:44.:48:50.

and Feliciano Lopez goes through, 6-3 in the fifth and final set.

:48:51.:48:58.

Having a bit of trouble with a view its spectators but he had the last

:48:59.:49:02.

word. They are still talking about it. There can only be one winner.

:49:03.:49:08.

Lopez plays Nick Kyrgios in the next round. Under the Centre Court roof,

:49:09.:49:17.

we have Dan Evans. Let's rejoin Jim Courier and Andrew Cotter.

:49:18.:49:24.

COMMENTATOR: The reaction is not quite quick

:49:25.:49:25.

enough. Federer, a good effort in this game.

:49:26.:50:12.

Saving two break points. He has broken Federer and now holds serve.

:50:13.:50:21.

Make Federer think a little bit. Just if you loose ones from Federer.

:50:22.:50:24.

Moving along nicely. For- one down, Evans, probably

:50:25.:50:38.

wondering how long am I going to be out here on Centre Court? Now he has

:50:39.:50:43.

a little bit of interest in this first set, Federer missing a couple

:50:44.:50:47.

of forehands to help it break that serve. Talking about where he was in

:50:48.:50:53.

the rankings and where he is now, there has been so much talk about

:50:54.:50:58.

how he wasn't dedicated, really committed to training and he is now,

:50:59.:51:04.

he realises that and he knew how much support others had given him,

:51:05.:51:08.

his parents, two cultures, the funding he received and didn't

:51:09.:51:13.

receive and then received again... He realises that he was standing on

:51:14.:51:19.

the shoulders of a lot of other people so he works a lot harder now.

:51:20.:51:27.

And he is being rewarded. Because most wise sages say this is the most

:51:28.:51:35.

naturally gifted British men's tennis player, apart from Andy

:51:36.:51:36.

Murray. Still a break down. A stroke of fortune, sometimes even

:51:37.:52:33.

the greatest get them! When you look at the technique of Dan Evans... I

:52:34.:52:38.

cannot help but be impressed by whoever gave him that technique, it

:52:39.:52:44.

is classic, well constructed. He has a lot of options. What he doesn't

:52:45.:52:49.

have a size, which is certainly more and more challenging these days, to

:52:50.:52:51.

be around five feet nine as he is. But he is going to be 80 in the

:52:52.:53:02.

world if he loses this match, that would be a career-high for him. He

:53:03.:53:07.

should live somewhere easily between 50 and 100 in the world, no problem,

:53:08.:53:15.

if he stays healthy and committed. Federer throwing down a couple of

:53:16.:53:23.

races. Actually, the man coaching Dan Evans now, Mark Hylton, not the

:53:24.:53:27.

biggest player, quite talented, just outside the top 200. Beat Albert

:53:28.:53:34.

Costa in the first round here, straight sets, 2004, works well with

:53:35.:53:36.

Evans. As been quite a bit of talk, despite

:53:37.:53:56.

his not being the biggest man, his serve... All his shots seem to have

:53:57.:53:59.

a bit more power about them now. That is gorgeous! Palmer has been

:54:00.:54:21.

commoditised a bit now, most players use rackets, you can generate a lot

:54:22.:54:24.

of pace on the ball and control it with strings that spin the ball more

:54:25.:54:27.

than the gut used to. Speaking of spin... Look at a player

:54:28.:54:42.

that has an immense amount of power in women's tennis, look at Dominika

:54:43.:54:49.

Cibulkova, five feet two, crushes the ball.

:54:50.:54:59.

Nicely done. APPLAUSE

:55:00.:55:14.

The thing, Andrew, you reach... Because everyone hits the ball so

:55:15.:55:17.

hard, length matters, as far as playing defence.

:55:18.:55:34.

Beautifully done by Evans! APPLAUSE

:55:35.:55:37.

Surpassing the best. Again... Double fault comes to

:55:38.:56:13.

visit. Using a shovel to dig that ball out.

:56:14.:56:44.

Setting up a set point for Federer. UMPIRE: Mr Federer challenging the

:56:45.:57:28.

call on the right baseline. The ball was called in. Deuce. Usually very

:57:29.:57:43.

good challenging the calls... What? He is the worst! There is very

:57:44.:57:53.

little he isn't good at but challenging is the worst!

:57:54.:58:04.

He is getting on. His eyes are failing him!

:58:05.:58:26.

Very, very good hold that is from Dan Evans. And he really did look

:58:27.:58:41.

rocky early on, Dan Evans. Just asking the question from Federer, to

:58:42.:58:42.

serve forehead. Testing your cricket knowledge

:58:43.:58:54.

yesterday. Who is that fella there? That is from one captain to another,

:58:55.:59:03.

that is the captain! Alastair Cook? Someone is buzzing you information

:59:04.:59:09.

here! Come on! I am not as dumb as I look, I know it is surprisingly!

:59:10.:59:18.

Getting ready for Pakistan, the first test batch in a couple of

:59:19.:59:21.

weeks time. Jim is looking forward to that. I am. Roger is looking

:59:22.:59:27.

forward to that. Everyone talks about his level having dropped. I am

:59:28.:59:33.

sure it has, he is not at his very best any more but he is still a

:59:34.:59:39.

beautiful player. I thought his semifinal against Andy Murray last

:59:40.:59:42.

year was among the best, the body has been preventing him, this

:59:43.:59:48.

season, from gaining a new momentum, he has missed a lot of time.

:59:49.:00:14.

He had a bad knee injury early in the season, Federer.

:00:15.:00:37.

Couple of months out following the Australian Open.

:00:38.:01:20.

There it is. The seven times champion. Makes the first decisive

:01:21.:01:36.

step in this third-round match. But again... Enough encouraging

:01:37.:01:47.

signs for Dan Evans. In the latter stages of that set. It was a nervy

:01:48.:01:55.

start and understandably. As far as losing a set goes, that is a very

:01:56.:02:01.

positive loss for Dan Evans, a lot of encouragement from him to take

:02:02.:02:05.

from that set. He showed he could break the Federer serve, something

:02:06.:02:08.

that no one else has been able to do. Look at the statistics. Evans...

:02:09.:02:15.

Doing some good damage on the second serve of Roger Federer. Federer not

:02:16.:02:21.

seeing too many of them. 80% first serves in play. Evans will need to

:02:22.:02:25.

lift but I think it should, the nerves should be out of him, he

:02:26.:02:28.

should feel a freedom on his serve. The Centre Court crowd continues to

:02:29.:02:40.

swell to capacity. Federer senior, bottom left. And Roger Federer's

:02:41.:02:58.

mother appearing there... Good that she has unlimited data, she works

:02:59.:03:03.

that phone during these matches, probably checking that the kids are

:03:04.:03:12.

OK. Stefan Edberg no longer the Federer coach, that he learned, was

:03:13.:03:18.

only supposed to be for a year. Ivan Ljubicic... A top five player. In

:03:19.:03:22.

his camp. Ivan Ljubicic did a super job when

:03:23.:03:37.

he was working with the big serving Canadian...

:03:38.:03:42.

Milos Raonic. And he left Raonic at the end of the season to go with

:03:43.:03:50.

Federer and that must be frustrating for Ljubicic there, in the great

:03:51.:03:55.

top, they haven't been on tour very much because of injuries. A lovely

:03:56.:04:03.

start to this second set for Dan Evans.

:04:04.:04:15.

And Federer takes the very first attempt and the whole get steeper

:04:16.:04:41.

for Dan Evans. All the plans and designs, you will

:04:42.:04:53.

imagine how it is going to go when you wait so long to get on court,

:04:54.:04:57.

your first appearance on Centre Court, playing Roger Federer. None

:04:58.:05:01.

of those plans go like this. He has competed well. A set down and now a

:05:02.:05:08.

break down. Unfortunately, Federer's game is feeling pretty comfortable

:05:09.:05:11.

in the early goings in the second set, he did not miss a serve in that

:05:12.:05:15.

game and did not get a point. At this stage in mumbled, 2015,

:05:16.:05:50.

Roger Federer had played 44 matches, he had one four titles. -- in

:05:51.:05:58.

mumbled. At this time, he has played 24 matches and no titles.

:05:59.:06:10.

His level looked good in Australia before he had the accident in the

:06:11.:06:17.

bathroom, he slipped and fell and that led to knee surgery. He was

:06:18.:06:21.

running a bath for his young daughters...

:06:22.:06:42.

First point going the way of evidence in this second set. --

:06:43.:06:48.

going the way of Evans. The last Grand Slam was the batch

:06:49.:07:11.

microbus title back in 2012, looking to be the first man to win eight

:07:12.:07:15.

Wimbledon titles, he would also be the oldest man in the Open era to

:07:16.:07:17.

win Wimbledon. Should Federer get through this

:07:18.:07:39.

match, as it looks likely to be the case, he will walk off this court

:07:40.:07:43.

and probably be very surprised to see what has been happening on Court

:07:44.:07:45.

Number One was Novak Djokovic. Dan Evans just finding himself in a

:07:46.:08:02.

bit of a trough at the moment. Federer is in the Djokovic half... A

:08:03.:08:06.

lot of danger still lurking in the straw, should Djokovic finally lose

:08:07.:08:13.

to Querrey. He is down by two sets. But that would be a big opening for

:08:14.:08:15.

this man... And for everyone else in the draw.

:08:16.:08:36.

Lost in a befuddled world at the moment. Trying to find something.

:08:37.:08:49.

Even the best can look rather foolish at times.

:08:50.:09:09.

Federer with a double break in the second set. It is incredible. Evans

:09:10.:09:21.

has missed but one first serve in this set, Federer is locked in on

:09:22.:09:29.

those returns. And if that Djokovic match continues to go that way... It

:09:30.:09:33.

will leave things wide open but Evans is not giving up yet. When you

:09:34.:09:39.

are out there, you have to try and fix things yourself. He certainly

:09:40.:09:42.

has the game but at the moment, it's difficult to see a way back into it

:09:43.:09:49.

for him. Yes... He is not the first player to walk onto the court

:09:50.:09:52.

against Roger Federer and realise there is not one thing that you do

:09:53.:09:56.

that is better than Roger Federer on the tennis court. First serves in,

:09:57.:09:59.

better statistic, yet to hold serve. Whatever happens here... Even if he

:10:00.:10:16.

loses, he is up to 72 in the world, great progress. Small consolation to

:10:17.:10:25.

him at the moment, he wants much more.

:10:26.:11:04.

Was that going wide anyway? Now a chance again for Evans. Jackie

:11:05.:12:30.

Stewart amongst those watching on. Break point.

:12:31.:12:57.

Again, I stress the enormity of breaking Federer, hasn't happened in

:12:58.:13:01.

his first two matches this year. Chasing those lines, the first was

:13:02.:13:30.

good, the second, just wide. What a shame. Federer. After the forehand

:13:31.:13:37.

and the rally... Evans trying to squeeze a little too close to the

:13:38.:13:40.

line, he didn't need to. The court was wide open.

:13:41.:14:01.

Federer maintains his iron grip. Again, if you are looking for

:14:02.:14:09.

optimism from a British point of view... Evans is creating some

:14:10.:14:11.

chances. Federer is playing with the freedom

:14:12.:14:45.

of the scoreboard right now, just taking some chances. Literally half

:14:46.:14:49.

volleying that return of serve. Double fault. Double fault number 64

:14:50.:16:26.

Dan Evans. Watch the quick footwork here, the

:16:27.:16:54.

little tiny steps. That allowed him the chance to get his weight moving

:16:55.:16:58.

in the right direction. Beautifully done.

:16:59.:17:22.

The applause rings around Centre Court. The Game four Dan Evans but

:17:23.:18:08.

my goodness it's hard work. STUDIO

:18:09.:18:18.

And Dan gets on the scoreboard in that second set. 4-1 Federer leads.

:18:19.:18:25.

We will be back there in a moment. Nice evening out there. What a shame

:18:26.:18:29.

we didn't have that earlier. The rainbow in the distance, down

:18:30.:18:33.

towards Court Number One. A shame so many of the players have now gone

:18:34.:18:39.

home. If you are shooting in for Today At Wimbledon, we will stay

:18:40.:18:43.

life with the tennis on Centre Court. I can update you with the

:18:44.:18:47.

stories of the day. It started on Centre Court with the number four

:18:48.:18:51.

seed Dan Wawrinka going out to Juan Martin del Potro. Welcome back to

:18:52.:19:00.

Centre Court. He has missed the night -- last nine Grand Slams, he

:19:01.:19:04.

has had three wrist surgeries, and you always wonder whether he would

:19:05.:19:07.

be able to play on the big stage again. He has played a wonderful

:19:08.:19:12.

match, one of the most emotional matches, to beat Stan Wawrinka.

:19:13.:19:17.

Absolutely quality match on Centre Court to start the day. Venus

:19:18.:19:21.

Williams was taken to 10-8 in the third and final set by the

:19:22.:19:26.

19-year-old from Russia Daria Kasatkina. She had a match point

:19:27.:19:31.

earlier in the set and had to really battle hard, but like all great

:19:32.:19:36.

champions, and she has won this title is many times, she found a way

:19:37.:19:42.

to win. And her younger sister had an equally hard battle out on Centre

:19:43.:19:46.

Court against Christina McHale. That's what it meant to Serena. She

:19:47.:19:52.

was so close to going out, just as she was against Heather Watson last

:19:53.:19:57.

year, but she dug deep and the last two games she just raised the level

:19:58.:20:01.

of play like she does on these big occasions. She stays on course for

:20:02.:20:06.

winning her 22nd Grand Slam singles title. Serena and Venus taken to the

:20:07.:20:15.

brink, but both coming through. And possibly the biggest story of the

:20:16.:20:18.

day is unfolding on Court Number One, where Sam Querrey served out

:20:19.:20:24.

that ace to take the second set and a 2-0 lead against the defending

:20:25.:20:29.

champion and world number one, Novak Djokovic, who holds all four ran

:20:30.:20:34.

slam titles. That is when the rain came down. They are off court and

:20:35.:20:38.

they will be back tomorrow, what I don't think Novak will sleep too

:20:39.:20:43.

well tonight. He needs to come back and win all three sets tomorrow.

:20:44.:20:48.

Federer is on a charge because he has already just won his service

:20:49.:20:53.

game, so we are heading back. 5-1 and Dan will be serving in a moment.

:20:54.:20:57.

Let's rejoin Centre Court. COMMENTATOR: A very, very quick

:20:58.:21:02.

service game from Roger Federer. At the last change of ends, Dan Evans

:21:03.:21:07.

wore a rather haunted look. This was the closing out of the last service

:21:08.:21:09.

game. He has done it before to many, many

:21:10.:21:28.

very good tennis players. Dan Evans now will have to serve to try to

:21:29.:21:33.

stay in this second set. Right to the corner, from Federer.

:21:34.:22:18.

He has been attacking with his footwork, going up to the service

:22:19.:22:22.

line. That time running around to hit the forehand.

:22:23.:22:33.

APPLAUSE So much goodwill in here for Evans,

:22:34.:23:01.

urging him to try to take something from this match.

:23:02.:23:15.

Oh! APPLAUSE

:23:16.:23:49.

Good hold by Evans. He's getting rapturous applause.

:23:50.:23:56.

A couple of other numbers for you. Federer has only twice lost before

:23:57.:24:03.

the last 16 in his last 47 Grand Slam appearances. Federer also

:24:04.:24:11.

looking to close the gap on Martina Navratilova for the most Grand Slam

:24:12.:24:15.

singles wins by a man or woman. If he wins here come he draws level

:24:16.:24:21.

with Navratilova, 306. That's incredible.

:24:22.:24:28.

Want to stay in numbers for a second? Yes, please. Dan Evans is

:24:29.:24:35.

actually hitting the ball harder than Roger Federer on the forehand

:24:36.:24:39.

and backhand, on average. But Federer is just unscathed, he moves

:24:40.:24:50.

the around the court so well. And he spins the ball more than Evans, so

:24:51.:24:55.

he can get the ball up and down, off the court much easier than Dan can.

:24:56.:25:01.

But it's not a power gap here. Well, Evans has had one break of the

:25:02.:25:05.

Federer serve. He's come close on another occasion and he has to do so

:25:06.:25:07.

again. APPLAUSE

:25:08.:25:36.

Ace number seven. Too square and now Federer has two

:25:37.:26:27.

points for a two sets to love lead. Well, one of them saved well off the

:26:28.:26:57.

big kicking serve. 34, closing in on 35, Roger Federer.

:26:58.:27:29.

But his powers do seem reasonably undiminished. Two years ago he set

:27:30.:27:38.

this Olympic year as a target. He was suffering from back injury but

:27:39.:27:42.

wasn't talking too much about it. People were already thinking time

:27:43.:27:47.

was catching up with Federer. That is one of the things he hasn't won,

:27:48.:27:52.

the Olympic singles gold. He has won the doubles, with Wawrinka in 2008.

:27:53.:28:03.

If you want to see part of his personality, look at his celebration

:28:04.:28:07.

in the doubles. It is classic Federer, he put his fingers up like,

:28:08.:28:12.

Wawrinka is on fire! Such a nice look into the nature of that error

:28:13.:28:17.

that you don't get to see a lot of. He really is quite playful. Roger

:28:18.:28:22.

banners and flags and scarves seem slightly more permanent than the Dan

:28:23.:28:31.

Evans once! You reckon? That is good work, he's made it vaguely 3-D. That

:28:32.:28:39.

is good pixelation. Appreciate that. Those fans will have travelled the

:28:40.:28:50.

world. Roger is fighting on two fronts too. He's fighting not only

:28:51.:28:54.

the opposition and what Djokovic has been doing, but also time. Doing so

:28:55.:29:00.

well to play the level he has, at this age, the amount of matches he's

:29:01.:29:05.

played and the miles he's travelled, it's amazing and testament to his

:29:06.:29:09.

great natural skill and also the relaxed manner in which he plays

:29:10.:29:14.

tennis, which takes so little out of his body compared to say the other

:29:15.:29:18.

extreme, Rafael Nadal, who seems much older even though he is about

:29:19.:29:21.

five years younger than Roger Federer. Evans is back from his

:29:22.:29:27.

rate. A fuse screams for a seminaked Roger Federer, always exciting! A

:29:28.:29:33.

few injuries have started to creep in and he has had a nickel with his

:29:34.:29:43.

back. His body can't last forever, but it's amazing how well it has

:29:44.:29:49.

held up. The knee operation was the first time he has had any operation

:29:50.:29:56.

on his body in his career. Tennis is brutal on the body. It is, but the

:29:57.:30:00.

way he plays diminishes the brutality. He is so smooth on the

:30:01.:30:07.

court. He rarely seems to strain and you watch him in slow motion. He

:30:08.:30:18.

just seems so relaxed, like a sprinter in the Olympics going down

:30:19.:30:25.

the hundred metre track just angling and relaxed, that is Roger Federer

:30:26.:30:28.

at all times on a tennis court. Let's see what Dan Evans can offer

:30:29.:30:33.

in this third set, serving to get us under way.

:30:34.:30:39.

It would mean so much to him to just get his nose in front in a set.

:30:40.:31:46.

That is the type of shot that a little more size would aid Dan

:31:47.:31:55.

Evans. He just can't quite get out and cover that winning the way that

:31:56.:32:00.

Federer can. He is five foot nine and Federer six foot one.

:32:01.:32:07.

Well, he had to work so hard to win that point. He is in front in this

:32:08.:33:35.

third set. Just a hold of serve but it looks a

:33:36.:33:52.

lot better from Dan Evans's point of view to have that game up there. It

:33:53.:34:05.

took some high-calibre tennis to get it done. That is spectacular, that

:34:06.:34:12.

forehand down the line. Good news, he did it. Bad news, he needed to,

:34:13.:34:14.

to win the game. Thinking about it, but just a look

:34:15.:34:59.

to Pascal Maria for confirmation is enough to dissuade him.

:35:00.:35:36.

A rare mistake from Federer. These tiny opportunities have to be built

:35:37.:35:46.

upon. Taking Federer 230 his serve. Opportunity lost, there, for Evans.

:35:47.:36:19.

A second serve at 15-30. And it was a quality one at 97 mph, but he just

:36:20.:36:26.

put it right in the centre of the court and it begged to be hit.

:36:27.:36:36.

Federer said sure, I will do that. 15-30 on his serve at this stage of

:36:37.:36:40.

the match, arguable he should be going for a winner at that point.

:36:41.:36:45.

Probably the easiest shot he will get.

:36:46.:36:52.

You just get the impression whoever Dan Evans plays, whether it is an a

:36:53.:37:04.

Futures match or Centre Court against Roger Federer, he believes

:37:05.:37:10.

he should win, but the reality... Have you got a pipeline to this guy?

:37:11.:37:12.

You know a lot about him! Oh! This ball stays tight to the

:37:13.:37:30.

net. What is your deal with Dan Evans? Let's break this down. What

:37:31.:37:37.

is my deal, in general? I have studied him for sometime...

:37:38.:37:43.

That sounded a bit creepier than it was meant to! Your words, my

:37:44.:37:47.

thoughts. You think he walked court believing

:37:48.:38:04.

he was going to win this match? Yes. The clench of the fist from Evans.

:38:05.:39:14.

My goodness, the effort it takes to win every single point. And he is

:39:15.:39:16.

ever the perfectionist. Oh! Brilliant forehand from Federer.

:39:17.:39:52.

To bring up break point again. Generated off a bit of a standstill.

:39:53.:40:02.

Self-preservation from Dan Evans! He will take it in any manner possible.

:40:03.:40:13.

The forehand from the last point from Federer was 99 mph. This one

:40:14.:40:18.

didn't have that much on it but it must have felt like it at close

:40:19.:40:21.

quarters for Dan Evans. Let's watch how close this is to his head. Oh

:40:22.:40:24.

man. Once more Federer opens the door.

:40:25.:40:38.

Break point. And he has it. Federer two sets to

:40:39.:40:57.

the good and a break up. Cruising along.

:40:58.:41:06.

That is how it looks on the scoreboard. Let's have a look at

:41:07.:41:17.

backhands, for comparison. Certainly when Dan Evans's works, it is

:41:18.:41:22.

beautiful. Federer, everything he does on a tennis court is beautiful.

:41:23.:41:29.

By the way, these are virtually identical, technically speaking.

:41:30.:41:32.

Roger Federer's wrist dropping a bit more but that is more a cause of

:41:33.:41:37.

where the height is. Beautiful technique from these players. Evans,

:41:38.:41:41.

full extension, with his left arm drifting backwards. But kudos to the

:41:42.:41:49.

instructors who develop them. Where were they when my back and was being

:41:50.:41:54.

developed? You were also a beautiful player, Jim. That also comes off as

:41:55.:42:01.

creepy! It's a beautiful evening. We forget what it's like in the world

:42:02.:42:07.

outside our view on Centre Court, the Wembley arch in north-west

:42:08.:42:10.

London. And Federer with the break. He is a relentless machine. I see

:42:11.:42:49.

the Federer bear there, shouldn't it be a goat? We will get into a

:42:50.:42:52.

greatest of all time discussion... He finds his rhythm. A couple of

:42:53.:43:20.

aces in there. An touch of. -- untouchables. Rattling through

:43:21.:43:36.

the games as well. And now and 18 minutes and Federer closing in on

:43:37.:43:40.

the finish line. That service game under a minute for Federer. -- and

:43:41.:43:42.

hour and 18 minutes. Trying to breathe life into Evans.

:43:43.:44:38.

It's a messy game. Two double faults thrown in there.

:44:39.:45:15.

Too strong from Federer. Dan Evans is fading. A mightily impressive

:45:16.:45:31.

performance from Federer. You hope from Evans, who is starting his

:45:32.:45:34.

career again, having dedicated himself and getting fitter and

:45:35.:45:39.

stronger, because he has the talent. You can almost look at this, even

:45:40.:45:43.

though he is 26, as a match for a 20-year-old. He will be learning so

:45:44.:45:49.

much. It won't seem like that now at all, but he will hopefully go on and

:45:50.:45:54.

continue his climb up the rankings. With that new ranking in the low 70s

:45:55.:45:58.

at the end of this tournament with the loss here, he'll have many more

:45:59.:46:03.

chances to grow that ranking, with tournaments that have more points in

:46:04.:46:09.

them. He's been playing all the challengers where you grind away to

:46:10.:46:16.

gain entry to the 100. He can really make some hay. Get that ranking up

:46:17.:46:20.

to around 50 in the world where you get into everything and become a

:46:21.:46:25.

tour player as opposed to one who just gets to visit from time to

:46:26.:46:29.

time. Surrounded by friends and family and thousands here and

:46:30.:46:33.

millions watching. But it is a lonely place for Dan Evans at the

:46:34.:46:35.

moment. Federer 4-1. The crowd disagreed, but Evans knew

:46:36.:47:22.

it was wide. APPLAUSE. Another hold to love for

:47:23.:47:56.

Federer. Loitering towards the finish.

:47:57.:48:12.

There is another game up there. UMPIRE: New balls, please.

:48:13.:49:23.

You said yourself you had been in that position where you suddenly

:49:24.:49:32.

found yourself, young, but in terms of this experience on the big stage,

:49:33.:49:37.

you find yourself just a little bit caught in the headlights. You can

:49:38.:49:42.

find yourself looking across the net and think, wow, that's Roger Federer

:49:43.:49:45.

over there, and forgetting that you have to play the ball. No matter who

:49:46.:49:51.

Roger Federer is, the ball still comes your side of the net and asks

:49:52.:49:55.

to be hit. You have to deal with that, but it is tough. It is not

:49:56.:50:00.

just Roger Federer but this magnificent court that you never get

:50:01.:50:04.

to practise in. The aura of this building is also another opponent.

:50:05.:50:10.

And never seems to look too ruffled or troubled Federer, for the match.

:50:11.:51:07.

APPLAUSE. That's a beautiful part for Federer.

:51:08.:51:38.

CHEERING. The cheers and cries bring us to Match Point. Victory for Roger

:51:39.:51:48.

Federer in emphatic fashion. He's done it before, he'll do it again to

:51:49.:51:54.

so many players. A smile from Dan Evans.

:51:55.:52:00.

CHEERING. It was a home match for Dan Evans, but this remains

:52:01.:52:05.

Federer's house. Federer looking solid. Getting better throughout the

:52:06.:52:12.

course of this match. He'll be the lone player to get tomorrow off and

:52:13.:52:20.

get two days rest into the second week, Federer, but for Dan Evans,

:52:21.:52:26.

he's played the great man on the great Court and that's a very strong

:52:27.:52:32.

achievement in itself. No shame in that.

:52:33.:52:40.

CHEERING. Against Roger Federer, the clash between the two. He can take

:52:41.:52:45.

great pride in what he's done at Wimbledon. Hopefully he'll go on to

:52:46.:52:49.

better things, but Federer rumbles on and looks so, so strong.

:52:50.:53:04.

He won't know what's happening before this stops and Djokovic

:53:05.:53:29.

really up against it against Sam Querrey. He hasn't won a Grand Slam

:53:30.:53:34.

title since Wimbledon 2012. Do you think he fancies his chances?

:53:35.:53:38.

They'll like him a lot more if Sam Querrey can come through and knock

:53:39.:53:42.

out the defending champion. It's still a long road ahead. He was

:53:43.:53:47.

broken at one point but another straight sets victory for Roger

:53:48.:53:52.

Federer. Against Dan Evans. Let's get the thoughts of the number three

:53:53.:53:57.

seed now. Roger, congratulations. How comfortable was that win today

:53:58.:54:02.

over Dan Evans? Well, I got a good start in all three sets, which helps

:54:03.:54:06.

a lot. Then you can always play a bit for freely. He was under

:54:07.:54:10.

pressure. He didn't get many free points off his own serve, and on

:54:11.:54:16.

grass it's what he has to look for. I was able to get back a lot of

:54:17.:54:22.

balls and in an aggressive position after that. He was always going to

:54:23.:54:27.

struggle on his own serve when that happened. I was pleased with how I

:54:28.:54:33.

played. You are single-handedly dismissing the players and there is

:54:34.:54:36.

only one left now, Andy Murray. And he is far away in a draw, so I won't

:54:37.:54:42.

be playing him for a while. It's been fun playing against Marcus and

:54:43.:54:45.

Dan. They are talented and good players. I wish them well for the

:54:46.:54:51.

future. I didn't do the draw, but it is always a pleasure playing against

:54:52.:54:56.

local guys in their tournament and at Wimbledon it is always a

:54:57.:55:01.

pleasure. Well done. Thank you. It is always a pleasure to see Roger

:55:02.:55:05.

Federer on Centre Court. The court he so loves, and coming through very

:55:06.:55:13.

impressively indeed. 6-4, 6-2, 6-2. He's put away Marcus Willis, and now

:55:14.:55:20.

everybody Evans. He will play either Grigor Dimitrov or Johnson. So many

:55:21.:55:25.

fans follow him, support him. Such a popular player everywhere he plays.

:55:26.:55:28.

The Centre Court rises to the great champion once again as he is through

:55:29.:55:33.

to the fourth round. Tim is with me. Dan did OK. He had some rallies with

:55:34.:55:38.

him, but just a step up in class wasn't it? It certainly was. We've

:55:39.:55:45.

seen these matches and it's been British players, James Ward against

:55:46.:55:50.

Djokovic, and Marcus Willis and Dan today, it is so important to

:55:51.:55:54.

establish yourself early on. If you can hold in the first set it gives

:55:55.:55:58.

an opportunity to settle down. That never really happened for any of

:55:59.:56:02.

them. They were always behind. It is hard enough in any match playing

:56:03.:56:09.

watch-up, let alone against Novak Djokovic or Roger Federer. Once he

:56:10.:56:12.

got going, he played good tennis. It's been a really good tournament

:56:13.:56:15.

for him. It is important he continues to build on this. We are

:56:16.:56:21.

hearing in the last few minutes it's been confirmed officially there will

:56:22.:56:24.

be Sunday play, the first time they've played on the middle Sunday

:56:25.:56:27.

since 2004. Why was that decision made? It was pretty straightforward

:56:28.:56:32.

actually. We are here on Friday night and we've still got second

:56:33.:56:42.

round matches. We've got the Sverev match in the men's and Kvitova in

:56:43.:56:47.

the ladies. If we weren't to play on Sunday you would have the scenario

:56:48.:56:51.

where on the women's side they would be playing third round matches on

:56:52.:56:57.

Monday. They would have to play fourth round on Wednesday.

:56:58.:57:02.

Quarterfinals on Thursday... It ended up from the tournament's point

:57:03.:57:06.

of view, our hand was slightly forced. It is a good decision. It

:57:07.:57:10.

has only happen three times in the history of the tournament. There are

:57:11.:57:14.

a few logistical issues behind the scenes, but for the fans it's a

:57:15.:57:18.

great day. Have to cancel Ly my Sunday lunch. They will start

:57:19.:57:21.

queuing, because it was such a special day. You played on one? It's

:57:22.:57:26.

an important point. This needs to be organised by the IT department, but

:57:27.:57:30.

it is always going to be online, so they don't want people coming,

:57:31.:57:33.

queuing. That's why they have had to buy themselves a little bit of time.

:57:34.:57:36.

For the tickets I think they are looking at about 20,000 or so. The

:57:37.:57:41.

announcement will be made at 1 o'clock as to how that whole process

:57:42.:57:47.

will take place. There is... They don't want people running down here

:57:48.:57:52.

to queue, it won't help you, so don't do it. Logistically how

:57:53.:57:56.

difficult is it to get the club up and running? You and I were looking

:57:57.:58:00.

forward to a day off 2014; but whether it's the security or the

:58:01.:58:04.

court coverers or the executives that are working behind the scenes,

:58:05.:58:08.

there are so many people. It is very, very difficult, but it is a

:58:09.:58:12.

fantastic opportunity. We know how difficult it is to get a ticket to

:58:13.:58:15.

come and watch this tournament. This is an opportunity for the fans to

:58:16.:58:20.

hopefully get their chance when they apply online. We do hope there is

:58:21.:58:25.

going to be better weather. It is always a magical day. Stay here

:58:26.:58:28.

because we've got a few minutes left. We are going to a story

:58:29.:58:34.

brewing on Court 1. It peoples the defending champion, holder of all

:58:35.:58:38.

Grand Slam titles, Novak Djokovic. He was up against Sam Querrey of the

:58:39.:58:42.

United States, known for his big serve. We join it at the start of

:58:43.:58:45.

the first set tie-break. Out! Both players have played two

:58:46.:59:27.

tie-breaks this their two matches each so far. Sam Querrey lost to

:59:28.:59:33.

Rosol. It was certainly one of the better

:59:34.:59:49.

natural arms out there on tour isn't it. It helps when you are 6 foot 6

:59:50.:59:54.

as well. It will be slightly depressing if

:59:55.:00:17.

you play the best returner in the world, only lose four points in the

:00:18.:00:20.

whole set and lose it 7-6. Oh, yes, what class on the backhand

:00:21.:00:31.

side! That's a mini break. This had to be so accurate. He was

:00:32.:00:48.

pulled way out wide, Querrey. That backhand showing such great control.

:00:49.:00:52.

The world number one, the defending champion here, in a bit of trouble.

:00:53.:01:01.

Querrey now 3-2. Just two tie-breaks lost all year,

:01:02.:01:38.

Novak Djokovic. He's won 14 of them. Sam Querrey also with a winning

:01:39.:01:41.

record of 14 and 11. Oh yes. Excellent return, but what a

:01:42.:02:14.

shot in the corner again. Absolutely no fear of the situation so far, Sam

:02:15.:02:20.

Querrey. He's held his two points. One of these next two against the

:02:21.:02:25.

Djokovic serve and he really is in the driving seat.

:02:26.:02:33.

Oh, he's missed it! That's a massive miss. Novak doing a Boris there.

:02:34.:02:45.

Querrey should have made it. Herbal should have made it. I thought at

:02:46.:02:50.

one stage whether he would go straight down the middle at

:02:51.:02:54.

Djokovic, but Djokovic moved to his right and Querrey overplayed the

:02:55.:02:56.

passing shot. Now then. Doesn't want to do

:02:57.:03:21.

anything other than just keep serving really well here. Prefer not

:03:22.:03:30.

to have a rally off you, Sam. Two pretty wild forehand misses.

:03:31.:03:37.

Credit where credit's due. Not scared to pull the trigger even

:03:38.:04:09.

after those forehand errors. I don't believe it. How many times

:04:10.:04:26.

have we seen this man do that? The return was extraordinary. This was

:04:27.:04:32.

131 mile an hour serve. Belted it. Got to this position, even here

:04:33.:04:37.

you're thinking, can he do this? And yes he can. What a return of serve

:04:38.:04:41.

that was. Extraordinary isn't it? 5-2 up. Had

:04:42.:05:07.

a chance for a forehand pass that he would make at least 99 times out of

:05:08.:05:18.

100. That was at 5-3 wasn't it? 5-3. A phenomenal return. That set point

:05:19.:05:24.

off a brilliant first serve. 6-6,-. Smart play. Just get in. Can you

:05:25.:06:11.

pass me? Hit another one. Another set point, on his serve.

:06:12.:06:32.

CHEERING. That is a fantastic set of sevenis. A real shock brewing here

:06:33.:06:41.

on Court 1 at the end of the day. STUDIO: Indeed. The world number one

:06:42.:06:44.

in drearily. That continued in the second set as we join it, he's

:06:45.:06:50.

already down a break of serve. It is 4-1 to Querrey. Djokovic to serve.

:06:51.:07:03.

Djokovic is not going say not interested, but not engaged. He is

:07:04.:07:11.

struggling to get up. He's in shock at how well Querrey has played. He's

:07:12.:07:16.

waiting for the level to come down and it's not happening. He is

:07:17.:07:21.

definitely not there at all. I wouldn't be surprised if Querrey

:07:22.:07:29.

nicks two sets here. Looks that way. Goodness knows what he will say

:07:30.:07:31.

overnight. Querrey could finish it. This is really peculiar. Just not

:07:32.:07:47.

there at all this, great player. He is almost not being allowed to be

:07:48.:07:48.

there. A couple of big serves. It must be one of the demands being

:07:49.:08:06.

at the very top of the game and to be at the centre of attention like

:08:07.:08:09.

Djokovic is the whole time, you are going to get flat times and he is

:08:10.:08:12.

flat right now. Nothing working for Djokovic. Just

:08:13.:09:00.

one game later that big serve again delivers an ace, and that puts

:09:01.:09:03.

Querrey two sets to love up against the world number one. The man who

:09:04.:09:09.

looked unbeatable in the Grand Slams over the past 12 months. A huge

:09:10.:09:13.

shock brewing on Court 1. One thing Querrey didn't want was the rain to

:09:14.:09:16.

come down that the point, but it did. That's when play was suspended

:09:17.:09:20.

and Djokovic has at least tonight to regroup and think how he's going to

:09:21.:09:26.

find a way to win. Querrey is two sets to love up. Tim is with me.

:09:27.:09:32.

Tim, what a shock and what a surprise, to see the way Djokovic

:09:33.:09:38.

was playing. Very much so. The first set Querrey dominated even though

:09:39.:09:42.

the score line was-. Only lost four points on his serve in the whole

:09:43.:09:46.

set. In the early part of the second set it was almost like Djokovic was

:09:47.:09:50.

shellshocked. Didn't know what he could do to have any impact. Querrey

:09:51.:09:55.

really maintained his level. You saw that service game at 4-1. Djokovic

:09:56.:10:00.

looked like he was almost disinterested. He isn't, because

:10:01.:10:05.

he's the world number one and on an amazing streak in the Grand Slams.

:10:06.:10:10.

But down two sets to love he would have been happy to have the break

:10:11.:10:15.

and talk to his team overnight. He was happy to draw on last year's

:10:16.:10:21.

experience, against Anderson, a big-serving South African, and he

:10:22.:10:25.

was able to turn that around and win three sets in a row. You have to

:10:26.:10:31.

say, where did that come from from Querrey. Andrew Castle and I weren't

:10:32.:10:38.

expecting that. Before we round up some of the other big stories of the

:10:39.:10:42.

day, we are start with Venus Williams, the five time champion was

:10:43.:10:48.

on Court 1. She was taken the distance by a 19-year-old from

:10:49.:10:55.

Russia, Daria Kasatkina. She came through. But it was her second

:10:56.:11:00.

three-set battle here at Wimbledon. She's doing it the hard way. And so

:11:01.:11:06.

was her sister on Centre Court, Serena Williams. This was an

:11:07.:11:10.

unbelievable match. Superb play. That's what it means to the

:11:11.:11:14.

defending champion. Six times she's been a winner here and she stays on

:11:15.:11:18.

course for another. She was pushed to the brink by Christina McHale.

:11:19.:11:25.

6-4 in the third set that. Delighted the Centre Court crowd. Wonderful

:11:26.:11:33.

tennis from both players. And Tara Moore's challenge for Great Britain

:11:34.:11:44.

has ended against Kuznetsov a. She lost 6-3 in the final set. Tara was

:11:45.:11:49.

the last of the British women left in the draw. And a story on the

:11:50.:11:57.

Centre Court first up, because Juan Martin Del Potro, who has been out

:11:58.:12:01.

of tennis for two years, has made a return to a Grand Slam here at

:12:02.:12:05.

wibble Devon and put out the world number four, Stan Wawrinka, in four

:12:06.:12:14.

sets. He's gone through, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6, 6-3. Juan Martin Del Potro has

:12:15.:12:20.

had wrist judgery. Wondered if he would be able to play tennis again.

:12:21.:12:25.

He was very emotion A it is wonderful to see Juan Martin Del

:12:26.:12:29.

Potro back here at Wimbledon. Tim, you were watching that. With the an

:12:30.:12:33.

amazing story. It is. He's had such a tough time with surgery on both

:12:34.:12:37.

wrists. He won the US Open a few years ago. He's had really bad

:12:38.:12:42.

injury problems. But when he is healthy, as he is now, he is such a

:12:43.:12:49.

good ball striker. How hard he serves and hit his forearm to the

:12:50.:12:52.

back of the court. One to watch out for. You would never think that Stan

:12:53.:12:58.

Wawrinka would be outhit so much. A wonderful display. The news here at

:12:59.:13:01.

Wimbledon is that Djokovic is two sets to love down. He'll be on court

:13:02.:13:05.

tomorrow. We will have play on Sunday. That's the news here at the

:13:06.:13:10.

championships. It is the first time since 2004 that play will be on the

:13:11.:13:13.

middle Sunday. But we'll be back tomorrow. Our coverage starts at 11

:13:14.:13:18.

o'clock on BBC Two. We'll have some special guests in the Royal Box from

:13:19.:13:22.

sport, so from Tim and myself, bye-bye.

:13:23.:13:27.
