Hello and welcome to day six of Wimbledon. Not sure how many Welsh

:00:41.:00:47.

viewers we will have tuning in after all the celebrations last night.

:00:48.:00:52.

Well done to you. Here at Wimbledon, it is super Saturday. With so many

:00:53.:00:57.

top players involved, with clay being stopped ten times in five

:00:58.:01:02.

days, there is a backlog, so there will be played tomorrow with a

:01:03.:01:06.

People's Sunday for the first time since 2004. At least 18 guaranteed

:01:07.:01:10.

singles matches plus those not completed today. Details will be

:01:11.:01:15.

completed by the club later this afternoon but tickets must be bought

:01:16.:01:19.

online. If you can get here, it should be quite a day. The

:01:20.:01:24.

atmosphere will be electric. Play is going to get underway on all courts,

:01:25.:01:30.

including centre and number one, at 11:30am, so get here early. That is

:01:31.:01:35.

an extra day tomorrow, but now lets take a look at today and who is

:01:36.:01:40.

involved. There are some of the players arriving. That is Simona

:01:41.:01:46.

Halep, seeded five. She reached the semifinals in 2014. She is on Centre

:01:47.:01:53.

Court. Petra Kvitova is here, two times champion at Wimbledon. She

:01:54.:01:58.

hasn't completed her second-round match yet against Katarina Makarova

:01:59.:02:01.

but she is looking very relaxed. This is the man everybody is talking

:02:02.:02:06.

about, the big serving American Sam Querrey, because he is on the brink

:02:07.:02:10.

of pulling off one of the biggest shocks in tennis by putting out

:02:11.:02:17.

Novak Djokovic. He leads 2-0. This was Novak Djokovic, playing on court

:02:18.:02:20.

14 this morning. He didn't look well. There was talk with his coach,

:02:21.:02:28.

Boris Becker, playing shots and practising. He has got a lot of work

:02:29.:02:33.

to do when play gets underway on Court Number One at 12pm. Lets take

:02:34.:02:42.

a look at the order of play. Simona Halep against Kiki Bertens is up

:02:43.:02:45.

first. John Millman against Andy Murray. Murray is the world number

:02:46.:02:54.

two. And then Milos Raonic, big serving, semifinalist in 2014,

:02:55.:02:57.

taking on the American Jack Sock, who won the doubles in 2014. All

:02:58.:03:04.

eyes will be on Court Number One. We will be there to see this match

:03:05.:03:09.

resumed. Novak Djokovic against Sam Querrey. 7-6, 6-1, racing through

:03:10.:03:16.

that second. Djokovic couldn't do anything. He has been undefeated in

:03:17.:03:22.

grand slam events all year. He holds all four this year, so that could be

:03:23.:03:26.

a big shock. Madison Keys Exxon Alize Cornet. And then Nick Kyrgios

:03:27.:03:33.

against Feliciano Lopez, both of them coming through in five sets

:03:34.:03:37.

yesterday, so they will be a bit weary today. Other matches to look

:03:38.:03:42.

forward to, Carina Witthoft of Germany up against fellow German

:03:43.:03:45.

Angelique Kerber. We will be going to that one. I think that hopefully

:03:46.:03:53.

Witthoft will learn from when they met last year, losing in 45 minutes,

:03:54.:04:00.

6-0, 6-0. Petra Kvitova has lost the opening set to Katarina Makarova, so

:04:01.:04:04.

some work to do for the two-time champion. Kei Nishikori is taking on

:04:05.:04:14.

Andrei Kuznetsov. And Steve Johnson, started yesterday, up against former

:04:15.:04:19.

semifinalist Grigor Dimitrov. That is on court 18. I mentioned we have

:04:20.:04:23.

had ten rain delays throughout the day, and Carol Kirkwood was bringing

:04:24.:04:28.

us such bad news last week. She has become a bit of a part timer and she

:04:29.:04:33.

has got the weekend off, so we have got Darren bet. We hope you have

:04:34.:04:39.

better news for us. We hang on your every word. I am usually the voice

:04:40.:04:44.

of doom. We have got all of the fans coming onto Murray Mount. It's

:04:45.:04:48.

really been filling up. Maybe people are expecting a shock on the big

:04:49.:04:55.

screen. I can see sunglasses, not many umbrellas, but we may need an

:04:56.:04:59.

umbrella. The forecast is for sunny spells but a chance this afternoon

:05:00.:05:03.

of a fuchsia showers. They could be heavy but they won't last long. The

:05:04.:05:08.

wind is quite strong so, if you are not in the sun, it will feel quite

:05:09.:05:12.

cold. That could make it difficult for the players. After 6pm, the

:05:13.:05:17.

chances showers much reduced. Temperatures peaking at about 19 or

:05:18.:05:22.

20. We need a forecast for tomorrow. Tomorrow should be dry. We are a bit

:05:23.:05:26.

twitchy about the middle part of the day, where there will be more clout

:05:27.:05:30.

around. More likely to have rain near the English Channel. Hopefully

:05:31.:05:34.

dry tomorrow. It should be warmer as well. Quick heads up for next week,

:05:35.:05:40.

still a chance of a fuchsia hours, nothing particularly nasty so, with

:05:41.:05:45.

a bit of luck, we should get lots of play. -- a chance of a feud showers.

:05:46.:05:51.

At the moment, all I can see are some great bottomed clouds. That

:05:52.:05:58.

isn't a particularly good sign. I tell you what, Darren, you can stay

:05:59.:06:02.

because you have brought us a lot more better news. Carol boom? That

:06:03.:06:08.

is what we will save on Monday. -- carol boom? John McEnroe is here. I

:06:09.:06:18.

thought you lived here. I apologise. I have been so excited about being

:06:19.:06:21.

in the royal box for the first time in 39 years. Wow! My wife ordered me

:06:22.:06:30.

to close my jacket, but I can't, because I have eaten too much. I'm

:06:31.:06:37.

going to keep it open. Apologise. We have done a couple of openings here.

:06:38.:06:44.

Yes, we have. It's nice. I'm excited that there is play Saturday and

:06:45.:06:50.

Sunday. It's magical, because people can get tickets online. They will

:06:51.:06:55.

start at 11:30am on all courts. It's a chance for the Williams sisters to

:06:56.:07:00.

rest a bit. They've had a tough couple of days. I'm excited.

:07:01.:07:04.

American TV does a show on Sunday anyway, so there is usually no body

:07:05.:07:08.

hair, you guys are having a few drinks and we are working and

:07:09.:07:15.

toiling. -- nobody here. We will talk about Novak Djokovic in a

:07:16.:07:22.

moment. It has been quite a week here and elsewhere. John in the dale

:07:23.:07:23.

has this for us. -- John Inver Dale. Wimbledon has a crucial role to play

:07:24.:07:37.

this year in eggs -- restoring our faith in normality. It is a mixed up

:07:38.:07:41.

world at the moment but, in south-west 19, no sign of the

:07:42.:07:45.

Icelandic number one. He doesn't even have a world ranking. In his

:07:46.:07:51.

dreams, he is Marcus Willis. There is the rub, Willis didn't win, and

:07:52.:07:57.

neither did Dan Evans, both exiting the Men's Singles at the hands of a

:07:58.:08:01.

seven times winner determined to remain in the event as long as

:08:02.:08:06.

possible, a giant who invites nostalgia while still harbouring

:08:07.:08:08.

ambitions of being champion again. While we laud the new styles, we

:08:09.:08:13.

actually crave the old stars even more. We watch Becker, Lendl, even

:08:14.:08:20.

McEnroe on the sidelines and yet we yearn for them to still be on the

:08:21.:08:25.

court, to return us to a time when the world probably wasn't any safer

:08:26.:08:30.

or less crazy but we somehow imagine that it was, a time when Britain

:08:31.:08:35.

always had a seed in the Women's Singles. Except, hang on, we've got

:08:36.:08:40.

one of those, too. We are almost blase about having a man in the

:08:41.:08:45.

latter stages of the Men's Singles, but Johanna Konta was in the

:08:46.:08:51.

semifinals in Australia, and she has gone to the top 20 in inside a year.

:08:52.:08:54.

That isn't just good, it's Icelandic. When you go to Wimbledon,

:08:55.:09:00.

you know what you are going to get, aces from Johnny 's nerve, backhands

:09:01.:09:07.

from Gasquet, dropped shots from Andy, nervous Novak, seven shades of

:09:08.:09:11.

Serena, tantrums and tears. Everything as it should be, from a

:09:12.:09:21.

to zzz. Over the years, there has always been the occasional upset,

:09:22.:09:25.

but fundamentally it's purpose is to tease and titillate us before the

:09:26.:09:29.

tournament starts to reel on Monday because, in the world of Wimbledon,

:09:30.:09:33.

you are unseeded for a reason, you are an outsider for a reason, you

:09:34.:09:37.

are a bit part cameo player because, in this greatest of shows, the

:09:38.:09:42.

starring roles for the stars. That's the way it is, some things will

:09:43.:09:43.

never change. Sadly, in some cases. At least we have some better news

:09:44.:09:54.

for today, but I am not sure it is good news for Novak Djokovic,

:09:55.:09:59.

because he was practising on court 14, the championship court, this

:10:00.:10:02.

morning, with Boris Becker. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

:10:03.:10:05.

He looked like he didn't really want to be there at all, just going

:10:06.:10:11.

through the motions. He was hitting against a junior, getting some big

:10:12.:10:14.

serves against him, but the returns were going into the bottom of the

:10:15.:10:18.

net, he was dropping his head, doing a lot of talking. You've got to save

:10:19.:10:25.

it for the match. Listen, first of all, the best thing that could have

:10:26.:10:28.

happened to Novak was that it rained last night and they cancelled. This

:10:29.:10:33.

gives him a chance to regroup. Listen, there is a lot of players in

:10:34.:10:37.

that top half of the draw that didn't sleep as well because they

:10:38.:10:41.

are thinking, wait a second, if this guy isn't in the tournament, guess

:10:42.:10:45.

who has got a better chance, everybody in the field, including

:10:46.:10:49.

Federer. Something tells me he will have his act together. Sam Querrey

:10:50.:10:53.

probably had quite a sleepless night, laid-back as he is. It's hard

:10:54.:10:59.

not to pick the guy, but I think it puts it in perspective. We've talked

:11:00.:11:04.

about his superhuman effort, holding all four titles, nobody doing that

:11:05.:11:12.

for 47 years. He is human. He is a human being. He snapped. I'm trying

:11:13.:11:16.

to remember the last time I saw him sort of lose it completely and pool,

:11:17.:11:23.

dare I say it, a Nick Kyrgios for a couple of games and throw away a

:11:24.:11:28.

set. The only good news is that it is best five. You do have a bit of

:11:29.:11:32.

wiggle room that you can do something like that, but he's put

:11:33.:11:37.

his back against the wall. If Sam serves as well as he did, it was 130

:11:38.:11:43.

serves one of the other, not missing. Last year, a guided the

:11:44.:11:50.

same thing to him, it first of sets. -- a guy did the same thing. Since

:11:51.:11:56.

then, he won Wimbledon, Australia, French. You are giving Djokovic fans

:11:57.:12:04.

a lot of hope. Yesterday, Sam was playing so well, but Djokovic, we

:12:05.:12:08.

couldn't really understand what was going on. The almost looked amused

:12:09.:12:12.

at some point. When somebody is playing that well, it is hard to

:12:13.:12:17.

know what to do. -- he almost looked bemused. He wants to get in these

:12:18.:12:25.

extended rallies. Sam has always had a big game and a big forehand. I

:12:26.:12:30.

have seen him since he was a kid. The part that we question in America

:12:31.:12:37.

is his intensity. In this tournament, he did something that he

:12:38.:12:41.

has never done, coming from 2-0 down. That really helps Sam Querrey

:12:42.:12:49.

mentally, that he has battled. He was known as a guy who gave in and

:12:50.:12:52.

didn't stick with it. If you remember, in the tie-break in this

:12:53.:12:56.

one, there were a couple of ties, one in particular, where Novak

:12:57.:13:05.

dived. It was an incredible shot. Sam had a couple of quite nervy

:13:06.:13:11.

forehands in the tie-break. Exactly. The second set, the way he was

:13:12.:13:15.

playing, the way he seemed to lack effort, we were, wait a minute,

:13:16.:13:20.

what's going on? Are they going to call the trainer? It was extremely

:13:21.:13:26.

shocking. There was no indication. He hasn't won more than three games

:13:27.:13:32.

in a set in the last seven, Sam Querrey. And he hasn't done well

:13:33.:13:38.

against the top guys. He lost early in both majors this year, he didn't

:13:39.:13:43.

do well at Queen's. He lost 7-6 in the third. It was a bit more of the

:13:44.:13:47.

same. But I think these Americans are feeding off each other right

:13:48.:13:51.

now. Johnson had a great grass court -- grass court run. John is no came

:13:52.:13:58.

early to Queen's, which I didn't think he has ever done. -- John is

:13:59.:13:59.

nerve. And Jack Sock up against Milos

:14:00.:14:10.

Raonic today. And there is a big upside for both guys, especially if

:14:11.:14:15.

Kerry were to win here. Their eyes bulging out of their heads if that

:14:16.:14:20.

happens. That puts pressure on guys. But Jack Sock has a wicked forehand.

:14:21.:14:25.

He has got good hands. Milos is ready. They could be interruptions

:14:26.:14:33.

from showers from Djokovic and quarry on Court One. Where would you

:14:34.:14:41.

put your money? I think it will be difficult for Sam to get it done. I

:14:42.:14:46.

would pick Novak. That's an easy pick. Sam looked to be hitting the

:14:47.:14:52.

ball sweetly. He has got a lethal forehand. He looked to be moving

:14:53.:14:57.

better, impeding harder. He was on such a role last night. The rain

:14:58.:15:02.

came at the best time for Djokovic. It was the worst time for Sam. He

:15:03.:15:06.

was in the zone, he couldn't do anything wrong. As long as he keeps

:15:07.:15:12.

competing hard, he will have a shot. He isn't going to just fall over

:15:13.:15:18.

now. He's got a big serve. It's easy to be a coach now, just be ready

:15:19.:15:22.

from the first point, play the way you have been playing and don't let

:15:23.:15:25.

it affect you. Exceptionally difficult to pull off. There is an

:15:26.:15:30.

unbelievable upside for Sam if he wins this. Even Sam has got to be

:15:31.:15:37.

super excited right now. If you were coaching him, would you be saying,

:15:38.:15:41.

you've got to get as many first serves as you can, keeping on the

:15:42.:15:48.

back foot, keep Djokovic moving? -- keep him. The game plan he has come

:15:49.:15:54.

up with is the game plan with other big guys, to attack and make Novak

:15:55.:15:59.

feel uncomfortable, which is very hard to do. If you are able to sort

:16:00.:16:04.

of dictate the points and shorten them if you want and go bigger and

:16:05.:16:09.

not let him get a rhythm, that is your best shot. It isn't like these

:16:10.:16:14.

guys are going to beat him in long, extended rallies. He wants to

:16:15.:16:19.

fatigue you. You want you to come in ten shots into the rally. I saw Sam

:16:20.:16:25.

do something, I think it was in the tie-break, he came in off Novak's

:16:26.:16:30.

serve. That is, to me, was really smart. It put pressure on them. He

:16:31.:16:35.

is trying to win a calendar Grand Slam, a golden slam, adding the

:16:36.:16:40.

Olympics to the other four. He is doing something historical. This guy

:16:41.:16:45.

has got to make Novak feel some pressure. He's got to go for it,

:16:46.:16:50.

he's not got to win the long rallies, is got to take chances as

:16:51.:16:55.

he did yesterday. He's got to feel that luck is on his side. He has won

:16:56.:17:01.

some tough matches. Cilic went the days and days. Sam Querrey, people

:17:02.:17:07.

may forget this, but he has been in the world top 20. People thought he

:17:08.:17:13.

was going to reach the world top ten. What has held him back, for me,

:17:14.:17:18.

knowing and liking him as a guy, hitting with him in the past,

:17:19.:17:25.

laid-back, not intense enough, not wanting it enough, and these guys

:17:26.:17:28.

pull out all the stops. Forget about that practice session, Boris just

:17:29.:17:32.

wants to get his head into this and get him focused. We saw what

:17:33.:17:38.

happened to Serena last year, playing Heather Watson, she almost

:17:39.:17:42.

lost that, and she won the tournament. And yesterday. Exactly.

:17:43.:17:50.

She went for the Grand Slam. That is a similar situation. What they are

:17:51.:17:54.

doing is monumental and historic and they want to keep it going, but they

:17:55.:18:00.

are human. Absolutely. All the players in the top half will be

:18:01.:18:03.

having a look, and I am thinking that Andy Murray might be having a

:18:04.:18:07.

close eye on Court Number One. That was the target for him. He is on

:18:08.:18:11.

Centre Court today. What do you make of his progress? I think he has

:18:12.:18:17.

played better than anybody in the tournament. He struggled a bit early

:18:18.:18:21.

in Queen's. I think part of that was the hangover from losing to Novak in

:18:22.:18:26.

the French. I think he was undecided if he was even going to play at

:18:27.:18:30.

Queen's. I think he decided to and ended up watching it well and

:18:31.:18:34.

unfortunately he had Milos Raonic, and he came through and one that in

:18:35.:18:38.

three. That would have been a big loss for him. He has had inspiration

:18:39.:18:44.

from Ivan Lendl being around. Well said! Diplomatic. You can't help but

:18:45.:18:51.

think it will be a big thing for him. Just adding that bit of belief.

:18:52.:18:56.

That is what it boils down to. The way he is playing right now, it's

:18:57.:19:03.

hard to imagine, the way he is playing, that he won't get all the

:19:04.:19:07.

way to the end of the tournament. Of course, there is tennis to be

:19:08.:19:13.

played, and there are guys like Kyrgios, if he gets hot, that drive

:19:14.:19:18.

anybody crazy. He has got so many shots, Murray, so much choice. The

:19:19.:19:26.

final piece of the puzzle is his willingness to move forward and take

:19:27.:19:31.

it to players when he needs to. It may matter against Kyrgios. It will

:19:32.:19:37.

matter against Djokovic, whoever it is. It is Millman today. What sort

:19:38.:19:43.

of game plan do you think he will have today? John Millman is somebody

:19:44.:19:49.

who is happy to be there. He is going to be, first and foremost,

:19:50.:19:54.

trying to figure out some way to make Andy Murray feel uncomfortable,

:19:55.:19:58.

Allassani where even. That is easier said than done. What Andy Murray is

:19:59.:20:03.

going to do is to play exactly the way he does play. He has made a

:20:04.:20:09.

concerted effort effort to come in off his returns, and even before

:20:10.:20:16.

Ivan people were preaching that, but his tendency was to think, I am so

:20:17.:20:25.

quick that I can counterpunch. Ivan was the first guy that got him

:20:26.:20:28.

realising, you will be more dangerous if you have both. To me,

:20:29.:20:33.

he does that. He has worked on his second serve, that is better. When

:20:34.:20:38.

it gets tight, all players, that is what can break down. Finally,

:20:39.:20:42.

volleying. If he is going to win this and they few more majors, he

:20:43.:20:48.

will have to incorporate that. But he is amazing. And moving so well.

:20:49.:20:52.

Have you met Ivan Lendl in the locker room? Have you said hello or

:20:53.:20:58.

had a shoulder barge? Way too many times already. We can have a good

:20:59.:21:04.

laugh at this point. I saw him the first day he got to Queen's. I saw

:21:05.:21:09.

him, here he comes, just when I finally was doing a couple of weeks

:21:10.:21:13.

of coaching, he is back! In a way, it is good. One of the best things

:21:14.:21:19.

for us old, it starts with the letter F, guys, it makes us feel

:21:20.:21:34.

more a part of it. When Stephan was around, you had Ivan, I can see

:21:35.:21:39.

where they get the juices flowing a little bit, if you can make 1%

:21:40.:21:43.

difference... These guys, they are so professional and awesome, seeing

:21:44.:21:47.

what they have accomplished in the last ten years, and you see Raonic,

:21:48.:21:52.

all of these guys trying to bridge the gap, to get closer, doing

:21:53.:21:58.

everything possible... Hopefully it is a win- win for the people

:21:59.:22:01.

involved, but more importantly for the tennis. You have got a date in

:22:02.:22:09.

the royal box today. Milos is on court. There is no fist pump ring

:22:10.:22:16.

allowed. I'm going to be commentated. You are not there for

:22:17.:22:23.

the day? No, I get to watch a fantastic women's match. Simona

:22:24.:22:28.

Halep is playing. Kiki Bertens, semifinalist. So that should be very

:22:29.:22:35.

competitive. Who would have thought, when I first came here in 1977, when

:22:36.:22:42.

you and I were both losing semifinalists, and I won't you...

:22:43.:22:50.

No! And you won't ask me about losing to collars. And I had

:22:51.:22:53.

difficulty getting membership of the All-England Club. Hopefully I won't

:22:54.:23:01.

be in the back row. David Beckham is in there today. There are a whole

:23:02.:23:05.

bunch of sport stars in there. We will see where this pans out. I'm a

:23:06.:23:10.

bit concerned about the seating plan. We will have a look as we go.

:23:11.:23:15.

John, thank you. You can walk through that door and straight

:23:16.:23:19.

through to the royal box. Have you got your past? I've got my tickets.

:23:20.:23:27.

Once every 39 years! I'm still waiting. We have got some tennis for

:23:28.:23:33.

you right now, because we are going to be heading out to see Angelique

:23:34.:23:39.

Kerber in just a moment, but first, play is under way. There is no rain

:23:40.:23:44.

at the moment. On court 18, this match was held over yesterday

:23:45.:23:47.

because of the rain, and it is still uncertain.

:23:48.:24:04.

This match is available on the website. There are up to 15 court is

:24:05.:24:13.

available online, on the app and unconnected TV. -- on connected TV.

:24:14.:24:21.

Moving over to court number 12, as I can hear John McEnroe getting a huge

:24:22.:24:27.

cheer, this is Marin Cilic 2-0 up against Lukas Lacko of Slovakia.

:24:28.:24:32.

That match is available online. We are heading off to court number 24

:24:33.:24:38.

Angelique Kerber. It was 6-0, 6-0 last year, but Carina Witthoft is on

:24:39.:24:45.

the board, so lets join our commentators.

:24:46.:24:50.

I think she will feel a whole lot better with life. Winning a game for

:24:51.:24:58.

the first time against her compatriot, Angelique Kerber, who is

:24:59.:25:00.

serving at the moment. Kerber with the break already in

:25:01.:25:26.

this first set, in a big day for German sports, with their Euro 16

:25:27.:25:32.

quarterfinal later. Plenty of action in men's and women's semifinals

:25:33.:25:33.

today. The Germans don't know where to

:25:34.:25:38.

turn. This is a good place to start. A good start from Angelique Kerber.

:25:39.:26:07.

She has played two left-handers so far in this tournament, so after

:26:08.:26:17.

playing base, getting the dimensions right, it isn't easy to have to play

:26:18.:26:19.

a right-hander. O'Connor yes, that is the sort of

:26:20.:26:33.

forehand which helped Kerber to her first Grand Slam title at the start

:26:34.:26:37.

of the year. Champion at the Australian Open. Life will feel a

:26:38.:26:44.

lot different now is a major winner. 28 years of age, so she knows her

:26:45.:26:52.

way around the tour. Kerber, the number four seed at this year's

:26:53.:26:53.

Wimbledon. That is the depth from Witthoft that

:26:54.:27:21.

is important. She's got to use that for and effectively.

:27:22.:27:40.

She has struggled a bit with her service today. 107, that is pretty

:27:41.:27:46.

handy. Just lacking a bit of rhythm. She can't draw a lot from her

:27:47.:28:24.

experience on grass before Wimbledon, Witthoft. Didn't win a

:28:25.:28:31.

match in Majorca, didn't win a match in Eastbourne. Certainly growing in

:28:32.:28:34.

confidence after the first two wins here.

:28:35.:28:58.

One of the best neutralises, I think, on the WTA Tour, Kerber. We

:28:59.:29:07.

will watch how she gets down nice and low to be deep balls.

:29:08.:29:22.

They didn't hold, she is 109 in the world. She has been significantly

:29:23.:29:35.

higher. -- that was a decent hold. And she is, Louise, one of the top

:29:36.:29:40.

players in the world, no doubt. She came close to the final here a few

:29:41.:29:47.

years ago when she made the Semel is -- the semis, losing to Radwanska.

:29:48.:29:53.

Being in the Dublin -- bottom half of the draw, it is to make an impact

:29:54.:29:58.

in the second half of the week. I'm sure they would have been excited.

:29:59.:30:05.

She was one of the players I was watching. And also Bancic, I was

:30:06.:30:14.

surprised she went out after such a great first round. But we tend to

:30:15.:30:19.

think of Angelique Kerber as a late Bloomer. She was 23 when she got to

:30:20.:30:24.

the semifinals of the US Open. That was six years ago five, coming up to

:30:25.:30:31.

six. But she has played some terrific tennis since then.

:30:32.:30:59.

Good death there, and it is obvious the average age of the top 100

:31:00.:31:07.

players there is 25, 26, said that is getting up there, getting longer,

:31:08.:31:09.

having longer careers. That is where she sometimes

:31:10.:31:25.

struggles a bit, Kerber, generating pace, that was a really slow ball

:31:26.:31:29.

coming from Witthoeft there, needs to use her feet.

:31:30.:31:38.

Oh, good shot. Had to be careful there, 0-30 point. She moves so

:31:39.:31:51.

well, Kerber, and so consistent from the back of the court. With the

:31:52.:31:56.

power as well, very much on display there. Oh, that is not one of her

:31:57.:32:07.

best, though. She will find us for not playing a replay of that. Wasn't

:32:08.:32:12.

much to say about it, was there? This will be great for Witthoeft to

:32:13.:32:43.

take one of these points here, get back to even standings would be

:32:44.:32:46.

very, very positive for her. That is free- three first set, and

:32:47.:33:10.

you can see her confidence rising with each game. You have two window

:33:11.:33:15.

of Angelique Kerber if there is that bit of pressure playing another

:33:16.:33:18.

German, someone well below his standings as well. -- his

:33:19.:34:04.

good consistency there again from Witthoeft, she has two time that one

:34:05.:34:15.

down the line. Go for bigger targets.

:34:16.:34:38.

I think if there is a bit more breeze that starts to blow up, that

:34:39.:34:45.

is where Witthoeft is going to struggle today.

:34:46.:35:30.

She has got that one wrong. She was looking to move with her around the

:35:31.:35:43.

court and take into and Houllier positions, but in these sorts of

:35:44.:35:49.

conditions with the slice, got to make it work better than that.

:35:50.:36:17.

Just looks a bit uncomfortable today, Kerber. She looked very good

:36:18.:36:24.

and had a different game face and body language when she was playing

:36:25.:36:26.

in the last round. She is a lot more effective when

:36:27.:36:51.

she's playing against players who are bigger hitters, she likes it

:36:52.:36:54.

when the ball comes through a little faster.

:36:55.:37:13.

She has done well on those two break points. And this is what you has to

:37:14.:37:24.

do more and more in this match, just go after that forehand, be nice and

:37:25.:37:28.

aggressive, plunged through the corners there.

:37:29.:37:35.

That is good play. She can keep a high percentage of first serves as

:37:36.:37:43.

well, Witthoeft, that will really help her. Just one of two at the

:37:44.:37:50.

moment, just 50%. Good recovery. Four points in a row

:37:51.:38:06.

from 15-40 in the game. And Carina Witthoeft, 109 in the world, and she

:38:07.:38:13.

is ahead for the first time. So, nice day at the moment, the sun is

:38:14.:38:18.

out in south-west London, and the kids are on their weekend of course,

:38:19.:38:24.

they have their activities planned. That is the lake adjacent to the

:38:25.:38:30.

golf course by Wimbledon park. And if you snakes around the far side of

:38:31.:38:35.

that lake and park. And then as we come back to the ground, you will

:38:36.:38:41.

see the All-England Club, and he is caught to. This sunken court, as you

:38:42.:38:48.

enter from those gangways you can see near the top of the stand, that

:38:49.:38:53.

is ground level. You get a bit of a shock when you suddenly see the

:38:54.:38:57.

court way beneath you. That was the idea when they built this relatively

:38:58.:39:01.

new Court. They didn't want to have a lot of concrete on display from

:39:02.:39:07.

the nearby roads, is that was one of the compromisers. It is ably good

:39:08.:39:11.

atmosphere when it is full. Far from that at the moment. Hopefully the

:39:12.:39:17.

signs are good for this match, in terms of competitiveness of it. The

:39:18.:39:24.

stands will be full before too long. Kerber to serve, 3-4.

:39:25.:39:43.

Isn't using her feed that well, Kerber. Get a little more active,

:39:44.:39:48.

more flat. Oh, that was a chance, there was

:39:49.:40:36.

"Down the line there. - zero 30 as well. Kerber, the fourth seed, is

:40:37.:40:43.

under a decent amount of pressure, these are big moments. Just didn't

:40:44.:40:57.

get down to that ball, Witthoeft, that is a big opportunity. That

:40:58.:41:01.

shouldn't have caused the much stress on that forehand.

:41:02.:41:32.

Oh, yes. Really good play, and Kerber is not herself out here

:41:33.:41:41.

today. She is very conservative. Very conservative, I would like to

:41:42.:41:44.

see his step up on the baseline more, where she can see damage. You

:41:45.:41:50.

can see her retreating, she becomes ineffective from the baseline. Too

:41:51.:41:51.

far back. This is a shock, Kerber is 3-1 up in

:41:52.:42:14.

the set, remember that 6-0, 6-0 victory against this opponent last

:42:15.:42:19.

year. I am sure she's thinking about that. She is wondering what is going

:42:20.:42:22.

on. She should be more aggressive. Wow. Witthoeft did amazingly well to

:42:23.:43:04.

get across to this. That is a great response to get it that deep, but

:43:05.:43:10.

then Kerber, great wrist action to whippet cross-court.

:43:11.:43:31.

It is going to be perhaps just a deciding factor in this match, the

:43:32.:43:38.

serve of Witthoeft. That is better play from Kerber.

:43:39.:45:11.

Again you just wonder what she's thinking out there, just going

:45:12.:45:16.

through the process of who she is playing, what is happening.

:45:17.:45:39.

Well, unfortunate timing for the double fault, and she saved for the

:45:40.:45:45.

set, Witthoeft, gave it away somewhat.

:45:46.:45:53.

STUDIO: So, fighting back, Angelique Kerber and still on serve. Still

:45:54.:45:59.

some way to go, but let's see what is happening. One result, this match

:46:00.:46:05.

from the game yesterday, and Sloane Stephens has gone through, but not

:46:06.:46:12.

without a struggle. 8-6 in the third set, and a testing rally to end on.

:46:13.:46:20.

That error is the end of the match, so Sloane Stephens, the aching seed,

:46:21.:46:25.

through to face Svetlana Kuznetsova in the fourth round. And Marin Cilic

:46:26.:46:32.

has won that Bird said, he's gone through against Lukas Lacko of

:46:33.:46:42.

Slovakia, 6-3, 6-3, 6-4. His coach is delighted with that victory. He

:46:43.:46:49.

will be back on Monday as well. And let's go over to court a wet Grigor

:46:50.:46:55.

Dimitrov dropped the first set, it was 8-6 in the tie-break, but it is

:46:56.:47:01.

on serve on the second. That is on the red button, but let's go back to

:47:02.:47:05.

court to, Kerber serving to stay in this set.

:47:06.:47:29.

Oh, terrific shot. Again just not looking comfortable, Kerber, and I

:47:30.:47:43.

feel it is because of the backhand, it is not coming through that fast

:47:44.:47:45.

from Witthoeft. And she is having to generate pace,

:47:46.:48:02.

which is not what she usually likes to do, she likes to redirect, be a

:48:03.:48:11.

hard counterpuncher, Kerber. The young lads are enjoying the match.

:48:12.:48:35.

Just really looks out of sorts today, Kerber. It is rather unusual

:48:36.:48:40.

to see. Oh, she has got lucky! Looks a

:48:41.:49:06.

little bit like she has got an allergy to the net, because the shot

:49:07.:49:11.

previous, she had such an opportunity to move forward and look

:49:12.:49:13.

for the volley. That could have been so different if

:49:14.:49:52.

that backhand had come back on her side of the court at 15-30. As it

:49:53.:50:05.

is, we are level again. What a difference one year makes.

:50:06.:51:05.

Oh, it is a great way to win the best rally of the match! Longest

:51:06.:51:15.

rally at 28 strokes. Both players playing their part, but this am

:51:16.:51:22.

Kerber was spectacular. Terrific use of the handset, she gets out quickly

:51:23.:51:26.

and had such great control of end range.

:51:27.:51:50.

That is what you want to do at a rally which was 28 strokes, you want

:51:51.:51:58.

to try and get that first strike in play short point, Witthoeft has been

:51:59.:52:02.

able to do that. What a missed opportunity there,

:52:03.:52:26.

just didn't take one more step, just try to not let the ball drop. Just

:52:27.:52:35.

there, just left that drop just a fraction too much.

:52:36.:53:34.

Well, more fluctuations than the weather this sets. Kerber was ahead,

:53:35.:53:47.

Witthoeft lead, circular set, couldn't do it, and now it is Kerber

:53:48.:53:53.

in front, and she will have a chance to serve for 6-5.

:53:54.:54:00.

German tennis is in a pretty healthy situation at the moment, we've got

:54:01.:54:08.

two great players here in this match, but Peschke and others are

:54:09.:54:19.

producing some great games, there is variation is with their game styles.

:54:20.:54:25.

You do have good coaches, they have good work ethic and they are

:54:26.:54:30.

certainly having a very good Federation cup team. And Annika Beck

:54:31.:54:43.

as well. Yes, of course. In the men's, the big talent looking to

:54:44.:54:49.

beat Youzhny, the 19-year-old, six foot six. It has been rather cloudy

:54:50.:54:55.

in the first hour of play. Those grey clouds seem to be attracted to

:54:56.:54:59.

Wimbledon this year, unfortunately. We have seen some umbrella is going

:55:00.:55:03.

up in the northern side of the ground.

:55:04.:55:16.

Oh, come on. That is it, take them down, be optimistic!

:55:17.:55:36.

Oh, good tennis. She has to try something of course in this game. I

:55:37.:55:46.

like this change of mentality from Witthoeft, we've seen the last two

:55:47.:55:52.

games, she's wanted to move forwards and finish at the net, that was

:55:53.:55:55.

better on top of the net. Well, that is both of them failing

:55:56.:56:31.

to serve for the set. Such inconsistency means we sorted

:56:32.:56:44.

out with a tie-break. It is interesting, you look at the

:56:45.:57:16.

numbers for Witthoeft, she served five double faults throughout the

:57:17.:57:20.

year, she has served 90 double fault and 27 aces, that is a big

:57:21.:57:24.

disparity. Well, she has been rewarded for

:57:25.:57:46.

being the aggressor here, Witthoeft. Three points against the serve so

:57:47.:58:23.

far in this tie-break. It is just the first double fault for the match

:58:24.:58:30.

for Kerber, just two for the tournament. Their coach looking

:58:31.:58:32.

rather uncomfortable there. It is a shame, she got the return

:58:33.:58:51.

she wanted, short reply. An easy error.

:58:52.:59:10.

Well, six games out of the 12 in the set went against the serve. And if

:59:11.:59:17.

Kerber loses this point, all six points in the tie-break. They will

:59:18.:59:19.

have gone against the serve. Great shots, Kerber, who must have

:59:20.:00:04.

thought she had won it with that first low forehand. Wasn't expecting

:00:05.:00:13.

to have to play a second. Just so important for Kerber to stay up on

:00:14.:00:16.

that baseline. Look at those legs. Very like Agnieszka Radwanska, she

:00:17.:00:23.

was the one in trademark that shot first, but she's to lived here,

:00:24.:00:29.

Kerber. Emotionally, she's got to get a bit more into this and just

:00:30.:00:33.

raise her intensity. She's been a bit flat flew out. -- a bit flat

:00:34.:00:39.

throughout. She holds on to both of those

:00:40.:01:20.

service points. The way it's going, you feel that absolutely key, those

:01:21.:01:23.

two service holds in the tie-break. Just gets the numbers in the court

:01:24.:01:48.

at the right time, doesn't she, Kerber.

:01:49.:02:08.

That's just a sign of her potential from the back of the court.

:02:09.:02:16.

Beautiful timing on that forehand. Three more set points to come,

:02:17.:02:20.

though. She's going to need a few more of those.

:02:21.:03:26.

She's really making her work for it. That's three set points served by

:03:27.:03:40.

Carina Witthoft. -- saved. And we are now back on serve in this

:03:41.:03:42.

tie-break. Incredible. Well, I'm afraid we have to leave

:03:43.:04:11.

this match, because we are heading over to Court Number One, Gus Novak

:04:12.:04:15.

Djokovic is walking out there. This continues on the red button. We will

:04:16.:04:21.

continue to keep you up-to-date. We will be moving over to BBC One very

:04:22.:04:25.

shortly. We are heading over to Court Number One. There is

:04:26.:04:29.

potentially a huge shock because, last night, before the rain,

:04:30.:04:34.

defending champion Novak Djokovic was in big trouble against big

:04:35.:04:40.

serving American Sam Querrey. 28-year-old Sam Querrey is looking

:04:41.:04:44.

to cause the upset of the tournament, the upset of the year.

:04:45.:04:49.

He has come to play. His concentration is not good right now.

:04:50.:04:56.

Smart play. Sustained pressure from the American. What a pass on the

:04:57.:05:03.

backhand side! That is fantastic set of tennis! A real shock on Court

:05:04.:05:11.

Number One at the end of the day. An extraordinary serving performance

:05:12.:05:16.

but so much more than that besides. That is it. Wow, Djokovic has had a

:05:17.:05:23.

terrible time out there. Djokovic two sets down.

:05:24.:05:29.

He looked so lacklustre yesterday. What can we expect from the world

:05:30.:05:37.

number one? He's got to win three sets to beat this man.

:05:38.:05:48.

Well, a huge ovation for both players. Everyone in their seats

:05:49.:05:53.

very early for this. They don't want to miss any of it, Gus Novak

:05:54.:05:58.

Djokovic is such a great fighter. John McEnroe said, don't worry about

:05:59.:06:04.

what happened in his practice session, he looked like he didn't

:06:05.:06:07.

want to be there, a lot of talking with Boris Becker. He still reckons

:06:08.:06:13.

he can win these three sets. Lets find out what Tim and Andrew think

:06:14.:06:18.

about this match. They are in our commentary position. So, Tim, what

:06:19.:06:23.

about that practice session. Did you see any of it, where it didn't look

:06:24.:06:28.

like you wanted to be there? No. Oh, sorry, we can't hear you. Oh.

:06:29.:06:42.

Anyway, we can't get a word... I'm sure it's absolutely riveting. Could

:06:43.:06:48.

you do some sign language, do you think? Did you think much of

:06:49.:06:50.

Djokovic's practice? No? 5- love to Querrey. What we were

:06:51.:07:10.

just saying was, we think that McEnroe doesn't knowing what he is

:07:11.:07:14.

talking about. Stop getting him in trouble. I think most people here

:07:15.:07:21.

will think that Djokovic is going to come back here, and I'm not sure.

:07:22.:07:26.

Perhaps, if he wins the first set, it might be 50-50, but Sam Querrey

:07:27.:07:32.

played out of his mind. If they had carried on until 20 past eight, he

:07:33.:07:36.

could have been out of the tournament. Sam was playing that

:07:37.:07:39.

well. Can he bridges that form again? It would be the upset of the

:07:40.:07:45.

tournament. Djokovic is a great fighter and you never count him out

:07:46.:07:48.

but he's got to start doing something and he's got to hope that

:07:49.:07:54.

Querrey starts missing. Querrey was so aggressive, only losing four

:07:55.:08:00.

points on serve in the first set. He was taking huge risks from the

:08:01.:08:03.

baseline and making very few unforced errors. Djokovic will be

:08:04.:08:09.

hoping that Querrey's level drops and he's got to get off to a good
