COMMENTATOR: Job done. A tour deforce from Andy Murray.

:00:55.:01:02.

UMPIRE: Game, set and match Murray. COMMENTATOR: Roger versus Marcus.

:01:03.:01:12.

David versus Goliath. Djokovic, two sets down. Oh, I say, what a shot.

:01:13.:01:38.

Even by his standards, that was something special.

:01:39.:01:57.

I'll be doing one of those tonight if we have a day of no rain. The

:01:58.:02:02.

weather's been so bad that for only the fourth time in history, and the

:02:03.:02:07.

first time since 2004, we'll be playing tomorrow on Sunday. Details

:02:08.:02:10.

will be announced by the club from 1pm today. Of course, we will keep

:02:11.:02:14.

you updated on that. Play will get under way tomorrow on all courts,

:02:15.:02:17.

including centre and Number 1 Court at 11. 30am. We will have a people's

:02:18.:02:22.

Sunday tomorrow. This is the sixth day and the fans lucky enough to

:02:23.:02:26.

have a ticket are in for a treat. A star-studded line-up today. I'll

:02:27.:02:30.

give you the order of play later. We're heading straight to Court No 1

:02:31.:02:33.

for what is potentially the biggest story in tennis this year, the world

:02:34.:02:38.

number one, holder of all four Grand Slam titles, the man who's been

:02:39.:02:44.

unbeatable in the majors, Novak Djokovic, is two sets down. We join

:02:45.:02:50.

it with Querry serving at 30-30. Our commentators are Tim Henman and

:02:51.:02:52.

Andrew Castle. He had 0-15, Djokovic, then 15-30,

:02:53.:03:16.

now 30-40. Only the second break point of this match.

:03:17.:03:22.

A hold from 30-30, on the resumption, just an hour and 19

:03:23.:03:26.

played. Djokovic trying to amount one of these comebacks.

:03:27.:03:29.

Snuffed out. Speed gun said 119, it looked

:03:30.:03:36.

quicker than that. Third break point of the game. He's

:03:37.:04:56.

already playing better. For the vast majority of the hour and ten minutes

:04:57.:05:00.

or so yesterday evening. He gave Djokovic a second bite of

:05:01.:05:27.

the cherry. It's a break of serve. The comeback is on, at least the

:05:28.:05:33.

first, few, tentative steps. In the a good volley from Sam Querrey.

:05:34.:05:39.

There -- Sam Querrey there. Djokovic settles in.

:05:40.:06:14.

Djokovic really brought Querry into the net there. He played a good,

:06:15.:06:17.

deep approach shot. The early stages yesterday, Querry

:06:18.:06:57.

was so loose. He was coming out and really crashing the ball. His foot

:06:58.:07:00.

work was good. He's definitely a little bit heavy in the leg this

:07:01.:07:01.

morning. He's playing with something to lose

:07:02.:07:12.

now. He's played players ranked world

:07:13.:07:14.

number one on eight previous occasions. He's lost them all.

:07:15.:07:19.

28 years of age now. John Isner is the top American, at

:07:20.:07:49.

number 17 in the world. Jack Sock is 26. Steve Johnson is playing well.

:07:50.:07:52.

He's 29. You see Querry really trying to be

:07:53.:08:27.

aggressive in the rally. That's the right tactic. He did that so well

:08:28.:08:30.

yesterday. With the foot work not quite as good, not getting in the

:08:31.:08:33.

right position, pulling the trigger and making unforced errors. Djokovic

:08:34.:08:42.

had never lost a set to an American player at Wimbledon before last

:08:43.:08:46.

night, winning all five of his matches against American opponents

:08:47.:08:50.

in straight sets. He actually hadn't lost a set before the round of 16 at

:08:51.:08:54.

a Grand Slam for two years until last night. Imagine that, going

:08:55.:08:58.

through every Grand Slam not losing a set in his first three matches in

:08:59.:09:05.

any of them? It's a remarkable series of tournaments he's put

:09:06.:09:08.

together at the very top level. It's why he's world number one and the

:09:09.:09:13.

winner and the current holding of -- holder of all four grand slams.

:09:14.:09:16.

That's the setting really. That's why this would be a major upset.

:09:17.:09:19.

It's a long way away. It was a lot closer before the

:09:20.:09:30.

resumption. Djokovic now well into this match.

:09:31.:09:56.

Craig Bointon working with Sam Querrey.

:09:57.:10:54.

Court coverers looking as animated as Boris Becker at the moment, I'm

:10:55.:10:58.

sad to report. The court coverers are led by a

:10:59.:11:15.

fellow called Tom - maverick. I don't know which one he is, but he's

:11:16.:11:23.

working hard. Leeds University performing the core of this number

:11:24.:11:25.

one group. First break for Djokovic against the

:11:26.:12:44.

Querry serve. That was minutes ago, is this the

:12:45.:12:45.

second? That's a wonderful defence. Djokovic

:12:46.:13:12.

moving so beautifully to his forehand side. Querry wide with his

:13:13.:13:20.

forehand here - is it a break? Yes, it is. It's 4-0.

:13:21.:13:25.

That happened quickly. Just a little over 15 minutes and

:13:26.:13:38.

Djokovic, who held his first service game here, after 30-30 situation,

:13:39.:13:42.

suddenly into the lead. The rain is coming down. I think

:13:43.:13:46.

we've seen the last point or have we not?

:13:47.:13:50.

It's away. I'm sure that will be the last point.

:13:51.:13:57.

The court coverers need to get on. Here comes Tom and the team. The

:13:58.:14:04.

umpire says enough is enough. What a shame. I hope the tent doesn't have

:14:05.:14:10.

to go up over this court. Just 16 or 17 minutes of play.

:14:11.:14:18.

That's the court surface covered, waiting for the players to move.

:14:19.:14:29.

Then they shift the tarp a bit more, I suspect they'll wait this time,

:14:30.:14:33.

just in the area underneath Number 1 Court rather than go all the way

:14:34.:14:37.

back through that long, narrow tunnel all the way back to Centre

:14:38.:14:41.

Court changing room. Depends what the forecast is. They'll be advised

:14:42.:14:45.

of that. There will be a supervisor there. I'm sure they'll have

:14:46.:14:49.

information coming through from the referee's office with the weather

:14:50.:14:53.

radar, what the outlook is for the next 10, 20, 30 minutes.

:14:54.:15:05.

James Keothavong not that quick to move himself, perhaps this is just a

:15:06.:15:11.

short shower. Although, it does appear that they are going to put

:15:12.:15:14.

the tent up right over the top of this. I'm sure it's not called a

:15:15.:15:19.

tent. Are they going to inflate this as well? I think they are. They're

:15:20.:15:22.

going through the whole process. That's it from court one, what a

:15:23.:15:27.

fantastic start for Novak Djokovic. Who was counting him out?

:15:28.:15:34.

STUDIO: Nobody, nobody would be that foolish. Djokovic in control of that

:15:35.:15:38.

third set. He needs to be. He needs to win all three remaining sets. Sue

:15:39.:15:44.

has stepped out to Centre Court where she is preparing for the

:15:45.:15:48.

parade of champions. I'm temporarily in the hot seat here. As the

:15:49.:15:53.

umbrellas go up and the crowds take shelter, as best they k, we hope

:15:54.:15:57.

this is just a passing shower, because it is essential that matches

:15:58.:16:01.

get completed today. We've already got confirmation that there will be

:16:02.:16:05.

play here at Wimbledon tomorrow. As you can see the outside courts being

:16:06.:16:08.

covered as well. Centre Court, where action is due to start at 1pm, will,

:16:09.:16:15.

I suspect, already be closing the roof. Lots to catch up on and if you

:16:16.:16:19.

were watching on BBC Two, you'll have seen Angelique Kerber in action

:16:20.:16:26.

there. She is playing Carina Witthoeft of Germany. We pick up the

:16:27.:16:29.

action in the first set tie-break. COMMENTATOR: This has been a quite

:16:30.:16:50.

startling recovery in the tie-break from Carina Witthoeft. Remember, she

:16:51.:17:00.

was 6-2 down here. Just paying the price really, Kerber. She's the

:17:01.:17:04.

back-seat driver. This one's in the front seat, really taking charge.

:17:05.:17:19.

As a coach, you usually tell your player under extreme pressure, don't

:17:20.:17:28.

go for a drop shot. But just perfectly executed.

:17:29.:18:40.

Kerber 100% committed to attacking and staying on the backhand side of

:18:41.:18:43.

Witthoeft. Witthoeft can do damage to the

:18:44.:18:50.

forehand. On we go.

:18:51.:19:37.

So unusual to get to 9-9 in a tie-break, that the umpire has to

:19:38.:19:40.

remind them that this is a change of end. Every six points, of course.

:19:41.:19:48.

Wow. That was a missed opportunity there, again, you can see Kerber

:19:49.:19:52.

just wanting to really focus on that backhand side. It's certainly the

:19:53.:19:54.

weaker side of Witthoeft. That's the easier serve for the

:19:55.:20:06.

lefty on that side to drag your opponent wide.

:20:07.:20:25.

Oh, well, in fairness, that's one all for the set. Witthoeft gets

:20:26.:20:30.

lucky off the net court. That's another area of her game that

:20:31.:21:38.

she really needs time prove. This is a giveaway. That should be the end

:21:39.:21:42.

of the set. Witthoeft should have been able to do something more off

:21:43.:21:43.

the backhand volley. That's brilliant play. How she's

:21:44.:22:19.

growing over the course of this long first set. It's lasted almost an

:22:20.:22:24.

hour. Such a valuable period in her tennis education.

:22:25.:22:45.

You're right, but I think regardless of the outcome of this match, this

:22:46.:22:51.

is a turning point for Carina Witthoeft. She has not been able to

:22:52.:22:55.

win back-to-back matches throughout the year, really struggled.

:22:56.:23:24.

Remember that Kerber had all those set points when she was 6-2 up in

:23:25.:23:29.

the tie-break. That seems like yesterday!

:23:30.:23:57.

STUDIO: Angelique Kerber the Australian Open champion having to

:23:58.:24:02.

fight against Carina Witthoeft, who she beat love and love this time

:24:03.:24:07.

last year. But the German absolutely toe to toe with her. Kerber took the

:24:08.:24:12.

first set and is a break up in the second leading that 2-0. This is the

:24:13.:24:16.

scene outside at the moment as people scurry for drinks and a

:24:17.:24:20.

little bit of food and hoping that this rain shower will pass. It's not

:24:21.:24:25.

actually raining at the moment. It's very blustery out there. Rain is in

:24:26.:24:29.

the air rather than pouring down. Now there's been a sensational match

:24:30.:24:34.

on court 18. Grigor Dimitrov, always a popular player, when he comes to

:24:35.:24:40.

the UK. Queen's champion 2014. Beat Murray in the quarter finals here in

:24:41.:24:45.

2014. He was against Steve Johnson of the USA. We join it in the

:24:46.:24:50.

tie-break with Dimitrov serving. Beautifully done. Each shot that

:24:51.:25:41.

Johnson hit during that rally was behind Dimitrov. Dimitrov moves

:25:42.:25:46.

extremely well, so he always goes to the open court. You see how hard it

:25:47.:25:52.

is to change direction on the grass. Johnson is the better volleyer. Can

:25:53.:25:54.

he get in there enough? It's so important for Steve Johnson

:25:55.:26:11.

to play a good tie-break, win or lose. He's so competitive. He's got

:26:12.:26:16.

to be angry about the game he played at 5-4. If he can overcome it, he'll

:26:17.:26:19.

forget about it. At least when you're 5-4 up and lose

:26:20.:26:37.

serve, you don't lose the set. You still have a chance.

:26:38.:26:46.

Very impressive in his previous round, Dimitrov. That was against

:26:47.:26:52.

Gilles Simon. That's bad play from Johnson. He got

:26:53.:27:10.

caught at the back of the court, lost his balance. The ball took a

:27:11.:27:18.

funny bounce. Johnson is one of these guys who continually slices

:27:19.:27:22.

the backhand. He knifes it. When he's hitting the ball well, it stays

:27:23.:27:23.

low. Just waiting for the balls to come

:27:24.:27:31.

from the other end of the court from the ball boys and girls. They do a

:27:32.:27:36.

Stirling job here at Wimbledon. A fantastic point. That's what it

:27:37.:28:16.

means to Steve Johnson. Best point of the match thus far. You saw the

:28:17.:28:23.

American ripping shots forehand after forehand after forehand. Makes

:28:24.:28:26.

himself get in position. You saw the movement and the quickness from

:28:27.:28:32.

Dimitrov to put the ball back. In the end, the American just coming up

:28:33.:28:44.

with the goods. Huge point at 2-3. 17-shot rally, the longest so far.

:28:45.:28:47.

It's been a good match. What was good about that one is Johnson said,

:28:48.:28:51.

if I'm going to lose this point, I'm going to lose it with my strength.

:28:52.:29:01.

Uh-oh. Those are two fine points under pressure. Now it reverts to

:29:02.:29:15.

the shoulders of Dimitrov. This time break mirrors the first

:29:16.:29:17.

set, very little between these two. Look for Johnson to rip a forehand,

:29:18.:29:29.

if the ball sits up a bit. Really good second serve from

:29:30.:29:46.

Dimitrov, didn't allow Johnson to take control of the point. The

:29:47.:29:49.

excess kick made it difficult to run around that one to hit the forehand.

:29:50.:29:54.

Dimitrov took control and dictated play. That's when he's at his best.

:29:55.:30:33.

One of the more vocal players on tour. Always geeing himself up,

:30:34.:30:37.

Steve Johnson. That drew chalk, that ball hit right

:30:38.:31:07.

on the sideline. You can see how heavy the Johnson forehand is.

:31:08.:31:11.

Dimitrov trying to get it to the backhand but he can't find it and

:31:12.:31:14.

that's just too much ground to cover. This is strength against

:31:15.:31:20.

speed right now. Oh, look who's back, our little friend. Speaking of

:31:21.:31:26.

speed, there's a lot of speed with that little guy.

:31:27.:31:40.

Too good. Wonderful volley. That was not easy. Steve Johnson had to get

:31:41.:31:52.

download. Here it is. Johnson is ready for it -- get down low. Strong

:31:53.:32:02.

tie-break for the servers. But set point. Dimitrov couldn't do this

:32:03.:32:08.

kind of moment yesterday because of the slipperiness of the court.

:32:09.:32:20.

No. Boo-boo. That was the mistake. Well, he does well to get it back

:32:21.:32:32.

but you would expect him to maybe rip the forehand. He tried a

:32:33.:32:39.

top-spin lob and wasn't able to, wasn't able to execute it. Tony in

:32:40.:32:46.

the sunglasses is the manager of Roger Federer, sitting next to Steve

:32:47.:32:51.

Johnson's dad, taking a keen interest in the young America. The

:32:52.:32:57.

winner of this one against Roger in the next round after his straight

:32:58.:33:02.

sets win over Dan Evans. This one is tight, 6-6 in the tie-break.

:33:03.:33:17.

Not only was that a very difficult shot to try, he hurt himself because

:33:18.:33:23.

he was running so far wide to not have to hit a backhand. And he's a

:33:24.:33:30.

big man, fell hard, almost did the splits actually. Thumbs up from

:33:31.:33:36.

Johnson. He could do with a little seat. Well, he's six feet and two

:33:37.:33:43.

inches, he weighs 190. And on the grass, to be able to run around from

:33:44.:33:53.

that magnitude is not easy. That's how difficult it is to find the

:33:54.:33:57.

Johnson backhand. He's really adept at running around it, but you've got

:33:58.:34:02.

to hand it to Dimitrov. 13 and a half stone in British weight.

:34:03.:34:11.

Catering for both sides of the land. -- both sides of the Atlantic.

:34:12.:34:19.

And there is the first set foot Grigor Dimitrov. In just under an

:34:20.:34:25.

hour. Steve Johnson put so much into that and got nothing out of it. The

:34:26.:34:31.

Bulgarian is ahead on court 18. STUDIO: Delightfully dinitrophenol

:34:32.:34:35.

his fans, Steve Johnson, a very untimely fall. Wanted to show you

:34:36.:34:40.

the conditions outside, there are blue skies. Hopefully the heavy rain

:34:41.:34:45.

shower we had five minutes ago maybe all that was in store for the time

:34:46.:34:51.

being. On Court One Novak Djokovic resumed this morning 2-0 down

:34:52.:34:55.

against Sam Clary. He is a double break up in the third set. So the

:34:56.:35:00.

fightback starting exactly how he wanted it to. That is the scene on

:35:01.:35:05.

Court One with the tent up so it will be awhile before they resume

:35:06.:35:08.

play, there. Play on Centre Court not due start until 1pm, after the

:35:09.:35:15.

Parade of champions. We are catching up on the action from earlier this

:35:16.:35:19.

morning, and let's resume this fascinating contrast of styles,

:35:20.:35:21.

Steve Johnson against Grigor Dimitrov. The second set also going

:35:22.:35:29.

to a tie-break, let's pick it up with the commentators.

:35:30.:35:43.

COMMENTATOR: Missed it. Missed it long. That the big hope from

:35:44.:35:58.

Johnson, challenging. It's long. I can see it from up here, our vantage

:35:59.:36:03.

point, pretty sure about it. Way out. What Dimitrov has been able to

:36:04.:36:12.

do really well is absorbed the power and not play too defensively, he has

:36:13.:36:15.

absorbed it and pushed it back with some interest behind.

:36:16.:36:19.

Missed that one. That was a little bit of charity.

:36:20.:36:31.

Well, if you are Dimitrov, you realise the importance of going up

:36:32.:36:39.

two sets to none, you will feel pretty invincible if you are Johnson

:36:40.:36:42.

you are thinking I've got to have this set if I am going to win the

:36:43.:36:50.

match. Shout of "Oh no" from Steve Johnson.

:36:51.:37:08.

Well, now is when you stand up and you have to deliver. You have to

:37:09.:37:16.

take your game to its highest level. Dimitrov is playing well, and Steve

:37:17.:37:17.

Johnson has to find a way. Great shot from Johnson, what

:37:18.:37:59.

happens! -- what hands. Played right at the feet of the American, and

:38:00.:38:04.

soft handed over a half-volley, couldn't have come at a more crucial

:38:05.:38:12.

moment. Yeah, handling the pressure, there. Peter Smith, his old coach,

:38:13.:38:18.

would have loved that play. Wow, taking it up a notch. He is

:38:19.:38:36.

actually taking the level up. I said he was going to need to dig down

:38:37.:38:43.

deep. For our viewers in the United Kingdom, USC being the University of

:38:44.:38:48.

Southern California which to most people over here is probably most

:38:49.:38:52.

famous for being the marching band in the Fleetwood Mac song Tusk in

:38:53.:38:58.

1979. Good reference, good knowledge. Good song. So a little

:38:59.:39:06.

glimmer of light now for Steve Johnson. Work to be done for

:39:07.:39:11.

Dimitrov. Mini-break down at 2-4 in the tie-break. Wow, spectacular.

:39:12.:39:28.

Just when I said he needs to find something else, digging down, he has

:39:29.:39:32.

hit three massive shots three points in a row. Could have been an easy

:39:33.:39:37.

backhand but it wouldn't have had any of the power from running around

:39:38.:39:42.

it and smashing the forehand. He's a very different player when he's on

:39:43.:39:43.

the offensive. And now a bucket full of set points

:39:44.:40:04.

for Steve Johnson. The other thing that happens if you are Dimitrov,

:40:05.:40:08.

you see somebody hit shots like that under pressure, it makes you come

:40:09.:40:12.

out of your comfort zone and try to do things you are not adept at

:40:13.:40:17.

doing. He missed that backhand by a mile. He typically wouldn't go up

:40:18.:40:21.

the line, there. Steve Johnson has taken it to a different level, he is

:40:22.:40:31.

being rewarded right now. It actually started way wide, clipped

:40:32.:40:35.

the net, came back in, but didn't come back enough. Quick second set

:40:36.:40:41.

compared to the first, the tie-break, only 45 minutes in, first

:40:42.:40:48.

one taking 59 minutes. Johnson still with three set points.

:40:49.:41:01.

It looked long. No overruled from the chair. Let's find out. It was

:41:02.:41:19.

long, yes. That's why Hawk-Eye is so invaluable.

:41:20.:41:31.

Yes, two good. Just as the wind got up in that point, Steve Johnson

:41:32.:41:41.

level things up at one set all. A 3-set shoot out to come. STUDIO: And

:41:42.:41:47.

you get the feeling a lot more to come from that match. Timed it

:41:48.:41:50.

perfectly because the rain started to fall just at the end of that

:41:51.:41:56.

tie-break so they will resume 1-1, Dimitrov and Steve Johnson, with

:41:57.:41:59.

that massive forehand. Those are very promising skies. Packed day

:42:00.:42:05.

here on Saturday, many hoping they will apply online and come through

:42:06.:42:10.

tomorrow as well. Andrew Castle is with me in the studio, how are you?

:42:11.:42:15.

I'm all right, thank you. Quite a long way away from number one Court.

:42:16.:42:22.

Hopefully they will get out again. Hasn't Djokovic been unbelievable

:42:23.:42:25.

compared to yesterday? Quite extraordinary. Fairly tight first

:42:26.:42:29.

set but the second set Djokovic was all over the set. I don't know where

:42:30.:42:34.

he was, Tim Henman had a theory he was shocked at how well Sammut query

:42:35.:42:40.

was playing. Despite players saying I just want to play my game, you

:42:41.:42:44.

have to reflect what is happening on the other side. I thought Djokovic

:42:45.:42:49.

was in a worse state, I thought something was wrong with him,

:42:50.:42:53.

certainly his concentration was shot, but you see how quickly it can

:42:54.:42:58.

happen, 16 minutes, he held his own serve at the beginning of the third

:42:59.:43:01.

set trying to mount a comeback from 30-30. Sam Querrey made a couple of

:43:02.:43:06.

mistakes and that's how quickly a set can go. If it goes two sets to

:43:07.:43:11.

one I would think Djokovic would go favourite. It is amazing how

:43:12.:43:16.

different he has been today from yesterday. Looking at some of the

:43:17.:43:19.

moment in the second set, he looked out of sorts, as if something might

:43:20.:43:23.

be wrong. This was the first set actually. But the whole way through,

:43:24.:43:29.

very surprising. It was one of those days, wasn't it? We had Venus

:43:30.:43:34.

Williams on beforehand, a long match, it was on and off, and it

:43:35.:43:38.

looked like it was going to be over and then it wasn't, a lot of waiting

:43:39.:43:42.

around. You can lose a lot of energy. It admittedly both players

:43:43.:43:46.

are experienced but it is a bit of 11 having to wait that long, coming

:43:47.:43:50.

out late in the evening, you are not sure and the referee says yes, the

:43:51.:43:55.

forecast looks good. You have an opponent in Sam Querrey who has a

:43:56.:43:59.

sense of invincibility against them. He came back against Lukas Rosol in

:44:00.:44:03.

round one from two sets down a winning 12-10 in the fifth, and he

:44:04.:44:07.

has no worries. He is armed with a huge serve and even his weak side,

:44:08.:44:12.

his backhand, was finding the mark, and it's very frustrating. That's

:44:13.:44:16.

the way it finished. Had play continued last night and it hadn't

:44:17.:44:20.

rained when it did, would we now be talking about Djokovic out of

:44:21.:44:25.

Wimbledon? Well, it's one of those things where I think you probably

:44:26.:44:29.

would have, when faced with defeat, he probably would have fired up the

:44:30.:44:32.

internal engine, the crisis motivation part of it might have

:44:33.:44:36.

ignited and he might have been able to win a game or two. This was him

:44:37.:44:42.

practising this morning, against a junior, and didn't look in great

:44:43.:44:47.

form. Started the match again and started really well, but Boris

:44:48.:44:52.

really trying to get him up. Well, you know, this is where you cannot

:44:53.:44:57.

be a pushover as a coach. I like the fact Boris is right there, saying,

:44:58.:45:00.

this is the deal, giving him some direction. If Novak is unhappy, of

:45:01.:45:07.

course you cannot be perfection the whole time. Everybody, when they

:45:08.:45:10.

have to play seven matches over a two-week period, one of those

:45:11.:45:13.

matches at least will be bad and you've just got to get through it.

:45:14.:45:18.

Last year it was Kevin Anderson at Wimbledon. We remember Federer in

:45:19.:45:24.

the final when Novak is the top man, but every champion has to go through

:45:25.:45:28.

a low when you have to win playing ugly. Exactly. He has come back

:45:29.:45:33.

today, they started at midday, winning the first four games of that

:45:34.:45:37.

set, is that Djokovic suddenly playing well, or is Sam feeling

:45:38.:45:47.

tight? I was looking at the form of Djokovic in the first game, and he

:45:48.:45:50.

looked a bit floppy. Winning from 30-30. Couple of Mrs from Sam

:45:51.:45:57.

Querrey, and suddenly how quickly it turns around. This is the delicate

:45:58.:46:03.

balance that exists in Amat and it is why concentration is always at an

:46:04.:46:08.

absolute premium. Sun has never beaten the world number one before,

:46:09.:46:11.

you will have been thinking about his possibilities, into the winners

:46:12.:46:14.

circle for the first time in a while. He has won at Queen's before.

:46:15.:46:19.

But he is bound get nervous closing in on the finishing line. At 2-0 in

:46:20.:46:24.

bed he would have been thinking, this is good, but when you will come

:46:25.:46:28.

out the next they and want something really badly sometimes it does not

:46:29.:46:33.

work for you. Djokovic was hardly getting a point on Querrey's serve

:46:34.:46:38.

but suddenly he is two breaks down. Not much of a return for Sam, he is

:46:39.:46:44.

unlucky to be 4-0 down. Novak Djokovic, the very last point, tried

:46:45.:46:50.

to rush. All these little things, and he lost the last point. So 0-15.

:46:51.:46:56.

You have to think this will probably go the distance. It will be a

:46:57.:47:00.

fascinating match to watch. Andrew will be back on commentary with Tim

:47:01.:47:04.

Henman and we will be following it. Outside the sky is looking brighter,

:47:05.:47:08.

the roof is closed on Centre Court to ensure play can start at 1pm.

:47:09.:47:12.

Before it we will have a galaxy of sporting stars among those watching

:47:13.:47:18.

what we hope will be a fabulous day 's play including Andy Murray,

:47:19.:47:21.

hoping to continue his love affair with Wimbledon.

:47:22.:47:33.

Job done! A tour to force from Andy Murray. Even by his standards that

:47:34.:47:46.

was something special. Some serious body blows.

:47:47.:48:04.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Centre Court, and in keeping with

:48:05.:48:09.

tradition on this middle Saturday of the Championships, the chairman of

:48:10.:48:14.

the All-England Club, Philip Brooke, has invited guests from the world of

:48:15.:48:20.

sport to Royal box. Opening the batting for our sporting guests are

:48:21.:48:25.

five stars of world cricket. A player who captained England in more

:48:26.:48:29.

than 200 internationals, breaking countless records and putting

:48:30.:48:33.

women's cricket on the map. The current New Zealand skipper who was

:48:34.:48:40.

named Cricketer of the Year in 2015. Two bowlers who have led England's

:48:41.:48:44.

attack over the last decade and who are both top of the test rankings

:48:45.:48:50.

this year. And a batsman who made more than 8000 test runs in his

:48:51.:48:54.

playing career and is now renowned as a straight talking commentator.

:48:55.:48:58.

These welcome Charlotte Edwards, Suzie Bates, Jimmy Anderson, Stuart

:48:59.:49:02.

Broad and Geoffrey Boycott. Now let's salute two of Britain's

:49:03.:49:24.

finest fighters. She is the first female Olympic and Commonwealth

:49:25.:49:27.

boxing champion and in May she added the world title to her list of

:49:28.:49:31.

honours. And a former four-time super middleweight world champion

:49:32.:49:36.

who is also celebrating his birthday today. Give them a special welcome,

:49:37.:49:39.

Nicola Adam Zampa Carl Froch. -- Nicole Adams and Carl Froch. From

:49:40.:49:55.

boxing to two players who packed a punch on the rugby field. Who

:49:56.:49:59.

captained their countries and their British and Irish Lions with great

:50:00.:50:03.

distension. He was a no-nonsense block who led England to Grand Slam

:50:04.:50:06.

victory and who is now the head of world rugby. And he's a former Irish

:50:07.:50:12.

centre, the second most capped player in rugby union history,

:50:13.:50:16.

please welcome Bill Beaumont and Brian O'Driscoll.

:50:17.:50:31.

The real Olympics begin in just 34 days' time and we are delighted to

:50:32.:50:38.

be joined by two stars from games past. A woman who so memorably

:50:39.:50:43.

struck heptathlon gold at the Sydney Olympics 16 years ago. And a record

:50:44.:50:52.

six times gold medal winning cyclist who switched from spending on two

:50:53.:50:57.

wheels to endurance events on four, recently completing the Le Monde

:50:58.:51:03.

24-hour race. Centre Court, say hello to Denise Lewis and Sir Chris

:51:04.:51:05.

Joya. -- Sir Chris Hoy. This year sees the inaugural

:51:06.:51:28.

wheelchair singles competition at Wimbledon and we are joined by two

:51:29.:51:32.

of the British contenders who will also compete at the Paralympics in

:51:33.:51:39.

Rio. First, a young Scot who won his first Grand Slam singles title in

:51:40.:51:42.

Australia earlier this year. We are also joined by the reigning US Open

:51:43.:51:46.

champion who completed a memorable calendar Grand Slam in doubles two

:51:47.:51:50.

years ago. It's Gordon Reid and Jordan Wiley.

:51:51.:52:06.

This month marks the 50th anniversary of England's finest

:52:07.:52:13.

footballing power, winning the 1966 World Cup. We are thrilled to be

:52:14.:52:18.

joined by some of the victorious squad members from that historic

:52:19.:52:24.

summer. Please welcome Gordan Banks, Sir Bobby Charlton, Ron Flowers,

:52:25.:52:29.

Roger Hunt, Sir Geoff Hurst and representing Captain Bobby Moore

:52:30.:52:32.

Fund the founder of the charity named in his honour, his widow,

:52:33.:52:33.

Stephanie. Or so here is an England captain

:52:34.:52:59.

from more recent times. He was a midfielder who earned 115 cats, won

:53:00.:53:05.

league titles in four different countries and in the process became

:53:06.:53:07.

one of the most recognised sportsmen on the planet. Ladies and abdomen,

:53:08.:53:11.

it's David Beckham. -- ladies and gentlemen, it's David

:53:12.:53:16.

Beckham. Being here at Wimbledon, it's even

:53:17.:53:41.

more appropriate that we welcome some more guests from the world of

:53:42.:53:45.

tennis. First a former Fed cup captain who has been a driving force

:53:46.:53:49.

in developing the game at the grassroots and national level, and

:53:50.:53:52.

she is also the mother of two Grand Slam champions. Ladies and

:53:53.:53:57.

gentlemen, it is Judy Murray. Now to two all time greats of the

:53:58.:54:13.

women's game, who, between them, have an astonishing 30 Wimbledon

:54:14.:54:17.

titles in singles and doubles. This very day 50 years ago this legend

:54:18.:54:21.

won her first Grand Slam singles title here and she went on to change

:54:22.:54:27.

the game both on and off the court. Also here today, an Australian who

:54:28.:54:35.

over the course of the 1960s and 70s won 24 grand singles titles, an

:54:36.:54:41.

incredible record that still stands. Welcome them back to Centre Court.

:54:42.:54:45.

It's Billie Jean King and Margaret Court.

:54:46.:55:02.

And our final sporting guests are three legends of the game who know

:55:03.:55:08.

what it's like to lift the trophy on this famous court. An Australian

:55:09.:55:13.

whose victory at Wimbledon in 1958 was one of three grand slam titles

:55:14.:55:20.

he won that year. A Spaniard who, 50 years ago, wild Centre Court with

:55:21.:55:23.

his magic touch to become the first player from his country to win

:55:24.:55:30.

Wimbledon. It's 35 years now since this American won his first

:55:31.:55:32.

Wimbledon title, and he's been calling the shots on and off the

:55:33.:55:38.

court ever since. Give them a special welcome to Centaur court,

:55:39.:55:43.

Ashley-Cooper, Manuel Santana, and the one and only John McEnroe.

:55:44.:56:08.

OK, Mac, you made it the Royal box, now get back to work! The

:56:09.:56:15.

All-England Club has a long and proud association with the Armed

:56:16.:56:18.

Forces and we are honoured today to be joined by one of the very few

:56:19.:56:22.

female pilots who served in the Second World War. Among the aircraft

:56:23.:56:25.

she flew were Spitfires and hurricanes. Centre Court, please

:56:26.:56:29.

show your appreciation for Joy Lofthouse.

:56:30.:57:04.

Since the end of World War II, the Armed Forces have provided volunteer

:57:05.:57:11.

stewards at the Championships. Many of the military here today have

:57:12.:57:14.

recently served their country on operational duty all over the world,

:57:15.:57:19.

showing their professionalism and dedication in the most demanding of

:57:20.:57:24.

circumstances. This is also the London Fire Brigade's 150th

:57:25.:57:28.

anniversary, and for more than 50 years they have been providing

:57:29.:57:31.

stewards to Wimbledon. We thank them for their support in keeping the

:57:32.:57:35.

Championships and London safe. We are honoured to have them with us

:57:36.:57:40.

today. Please say a special Centre Court thank you to all of them.

:57:41.:58:19.

And finally, please welcome onto court the team that rewrote sporting

:58:20.:58:26.

history and the end of last year. Led by their captain Leon Smith and

:58:27.:58:29.

some of the members of Great Britain's victorious Davis Cup team.

:58:30.:58:40.

Led on by Leon Smith, James Vaughan, Dan Evans, Kyle Edmund and Jamie

:58:41.:58:49.

Murray. Please show your PC a shame for Great Britain's Davis Cup

:58:50.:58:54.

winning team and to all of the special guests in the Royal box.

:58:55.:58:58.

Everybody here have a great day on Centre Court.

:58:59.:59:22.

# A perfect halo of cold air and lightning

:59:23.:01:02.

# Sets you off against the planet's last dance Time, please.

:01:03.:01:14.

COMMENTATOR: What a great reaction. You simply cannot give more. It's

:01:15.:01:31.

in! The waiting is over. That is way too good. Oh, I don't believe. It

:01:32.:01:40.

It's in! That's it. She's done it. The queen of Centre Court.

:01:41.:01:43.

Unbelievable shot. # The silver forked sky

:01:44.:01:57.

# Lit you up like a star # That I will follow

:01:58.:02:05.

SUE BARKER: It is always a special day this middle day of the

:02:06.:02:11.

championships. An extra treat to have so many special guests in the

:02:12.:02:14.

Royal Box. Very moving. Very emotional. Joy Lofthouse. Flew the

:02:15.:02:20.

Spitfires, wow. And hurricanes. Tharchlts is a hero. -- That is a

:02:21.:02:24.

hero. Incredible. So many of those stories bring tears. Lovely to see

:02:25.:02:28.

the great tennis champions honoured as well. Billy Jean king. And of

:02:29.:02:39.

course, John McEnroe! He said it's taken him 37 years or something to

:02:40.:02:44.

get there. He's finally there and he's doing commentary later. He has

:02:45.:02:49.

three or four TV station that's he works for. Pattie was telling him,

:02:50.:02:53.

do your jacket up. Look proper. Here they come for the first match under

:02:54.:02:57.

the roof. Simona Halep and Kiki Bertens.

:02:58.:03:04.

APPLAUSE This could be a very tight match

:03:05.:03:15.

indeed. Simona Halep the number five seed. They was a semifinalists here

:03:16.:03:20.

two years ago. She's up against Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands, a

:03:21.:03:25.

semifinalist at the French Open. She has a big serve. That will be

:03:26.:03:29.

effective on the grass court. An interesting match here on Centre

:03:30.:03:32.

Court. We're happy to be under the roof. It's not too nice outside

:03:33.:03:37.

there once again. The rain is falling down and the covers are

:03:38.:03:41.

onful it's looking brighter -- are on. It's looking brighter. We heard

:03:42.:03:45.

there would be a few showers today. Hopefully they have moved away and

:03:46.:03:50.

we'll get play on outside courts. Everyone's been keen to see what

:03:51.:03:55.

happens out on Court No 1. Novak Djokovic, when rain stopped play

:03:56.:03:58.

there last night, two sets down, totally out of the match to Sam

:03:59.:04:02.

Querrey. But he's come out firing today. 4-0 up in the third set. So

:04:03.:04:08.

the world number one, the man who's looked unbeatable in the majors over

:04:09.:04:11.

the past 12 months, is fighting back. You can never, ever count him

:04:12.:04:16.

out. Absolutely not. We saw him a couple of years ago down 2-1 against

:04:17.:04:21.

Marin Cilic on court one, came back. Last year against Kevin Anderson,

:04:22.:04:26.

another huge server, down 2-0 and came back. The rain saved Novak last

:04:27.:04:30.

night. Because he did not look stellar in that second set, after

:04:31.:04:34.

losing the first set. I was worried when I saw his practice session this

:04:35.:04:38.

morning. It looked lacklustre and not really interested. Johnny Mac

:04:39.:04:42.

said don't worry about that. Of course, he's right. Do I have to

:04:43.:04:47.

tell him? We expect with the score line coming out to date Novak to

:04:48.:04:52.

win. He's won 30 consecutive Grand Slam matches. He's hopefully on the

:04:53.:04:56.

way to a calendar year Grand Slam. That hasn't been done in a long time

:04:57.:05:02.

in our sport. Serena almost got it last year. There's extra pressure

:05:03.:05:05.

because of that. I thought maybe he was ill. I never doubt that he would

:05:06.:05:10.

fight back, but I wonderful whether something physically was wrong. But

:05:11.:05:15.

he is fighting back. This could be a really tight match between Halep and

:05:16.:05:19.

Bertens. Absolutely. You never know with Simona Halep, she's been so up

:05:20.:05:22.

and down. She was down at the beginning of the year, lost in the

:05:23.:05:25.

first round at the Australian Open it a qualifier. Finally got it back

:05:26.:05:30.

together at Indian Wells getting to the quarters there, Miami quarters

:05:31.:05:33.

and won Madrid. Simona Halep again has been up and down, hasn't been

:05:34.:05:38.

able to sustain the able level of play and Kiki Bertens, now this is a

:05:39.:05:41.

wonderful back story. She had ankle surgery a couple of years ago. She

:05:42.:05:46.

was outside the top 50. Nuremberg this year she was in the qualifying,

:05:47.:05:51.

got through that. Won the title in singles and doubles and so much

:05:52.:05:54.

confidence goes into the French Open, takes out Angelique Kerber in

:05:55.:06:01.

the first round. Then pushing Serena in the semifinals. You can't make

:06:02.:06:04.

this stuff up. These are the stories we love in sport. She goes from

:06:05.:06:07.

being 58 in the world to being seeded here at Wimbledon. Really a

:06:08.:06:11.

dangerous player in the early rounds. We've seen so many shocks

:06:12.:06:15.

here as well, with Garbine Muguruza going out. So many seeds falling.

:06:16.:06:22.

You don't really know, I mean Serena and Venus are through, but you don't

:06:23.:06:26.

know who will get through to the semifinal stages That's the way

:06:27.:06:30.

women's tennis has been for a few years. But it's accentuated this

:06:31.:06:34.

year. In Doha, past the second round no seeds left in the draw. It's been

:06:35.:06:43.

quite topsy turvy. None of the players besides Serena have held

:06:44.:06:46.

their level. One result from earlier today, before the rain came down, is

:06:47.:06:55.

American Sloane Stephens. She came through, a tough match for her. She

:06:56.:07:00.

lost the first set 3-6, won a tight tie-break in the second. Then 8-6 in

:07:01.:07:05.

the third set. Look at these long rallies that the players had to go

:07:06.:07:08.

through. It was a really tough match for both. It's Sloane Stephens who

:07:09.:07:13.

goes through and she's into the third round to face Svetlana

:07:14.:07:17.

Kuznetsova. So how impressed have you been? I've been impressed she's

:07:18.:07:21.

won a couple of titles this year. Then she goes off and loseserlily as

:07:22.:07:25.

well. It's the same story that we've seen. She has so much talent, a

:07:26.:07:30.

massive serve, huge fire power off both wings, particularly the

:07:31.:07:34.

forehand. An incredible athlete. Great defensive skills. Sometimes

:07:35.:07:37.

use that's too much, where she reverts too far behind the baseline.

:07:38.:07:41.

I'm still expecting big things from her. At her highest she can push

:07:42.:07:46.

anybody on the tour. Who would be your pick coming over, we haven't

:07:47.:07:49.

finished the first week, but who's impressed the most? Gosh, it's tough

:07:50.:07:54.

to say. Radwanska got through that match yesterday. She said sometimes

:07:55.:07:57.

when you have a match like that, you're playing with house money and

:07:58.:08:01.

you kind of relax. Kerber has been playing pretty well as well. It's

:08:02.:08:06.

really tough to pick because you've got Madison Keys would went three

:08:07.:08:10.

sets with Kirsten Flipkens. I think she is a Wimbledon champion someday.

:08:11.:08:14.

This year, I'm not sure, but she has the fire power and game to do. It

:08:15.:08:18.

that makes it so interesting the story lines. Serena was pushed as

:08:19.:08:21.

well. She looked down and out at some points. She finds a way to win,

:08:22.:08:25.

as she always does. Such a great competitor. Her back against the

:08:26.:08:30.

wall, it seems Serena likes that position almost the most, where she

:08:31.:08:34.

can go into warrior mode and challenge herself and figure a way

:08:35.:08:36.

to win. Of course, that serve, that's so helpful to have in her

:08:37.:08:40.

back pocket because at the end she serves three aces to finish the

:08:41.:08:47.

match 6-4 in the third. Eugenie Bouchard impressive against Jo Konta

:08:48.:08:51.

as well. Simona Halep looked like she would go to the top of the world

:08:52.:08:55.

rankings, slipped a bit. She's always dangerous, moves so well. She

:08:56.:09:00.

hits the ball so accurately, very solid. A clean ball striker. Doesn't

:09:01.:09:06.

have a big serve. But has got to as high as number two in the world.

:09:07.:09:08.

She's always going to be dangerous. You mention a former semifinalist

:09:09.:09:12.

here a couple of years ago. She knows she can play on this surface.

:09:13.:09:17.

Bertens, massive serve, fire power off both backhand and forehand. Last

:09:18.:09:21.

year, if you remember, she played Petra Kvitova in the first round

:09:22.:09:25.

when Petra was the defending champion. Bertens only won one game.

:09:26.:09:28.

It was a quick match. She has to have the power but also the

:09:29.:09:32.

consistency. Yeah, and handle this court. You know, when players walk

:09:33.:09:36.

onto this court, this court has a different feel to it. Just before

:09:37.:09:40.

you even walk onto the court, just the room before with the trophies

:09:41.:09:43.

there and all the champions' names on the wall, it brings extra goose

:09:44.:09:47.

bumps and nerves. Very important for her to have a quick start. I was

:09:48.:09:52.

nervous just doing the presentation - I wasn't even playing! We're ready

:09:53.:09:56.

for the first match. So thankful for the roof this week, because we have

:09:57.:10:00.

tennis to bring you. Tracey, thank you very much. Andy Murray will be

:10:01.:10:03.

on court later this afternoon, after this match. He's the second match up

:10:04.:10:08.

against John Millman of Australia. Murray the second match on centre.

:10:09.:10:11.

We're here for Halep against Bertens and Tracey is on her way to join

:10:12.:10:16.

David Mercer. COMMENTATOR: Always a special day

:10:17.:10:21.

now the middle Saturday of the championships with a host of great

:10:22.:10:25.

sporting champions from around the world in the world box, including,

:10:26.:10:30.

of course, arguably one of the most famous sportsmen in the world, David

:10:31.:10:43.

Beckham. Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Geoff Hirst. Memories of 1966.

:10:44.:10:58.

Bertens won the spin of the coin and chose to receive.

:10:59.:12:19.

What a difference a year makes for Kiki Bertens, just that one game

:12:20.:12:25.

against Petra Kvitova last year. Now, a chance to start with a break.

:12:26.:12:49.

Simona Halep a semifinalist here two years ago, lost to Eugenie Bouchard.

:12:50.:13:28.

Nicely done, a lot of topspin on that approach. Didn't have much

:13:29.:13:33.

court to work with there, firm volley.

:13:34.:14:00.

A terrific start for Kiki Bertens, who at the end of last year, was

:14:01.:14:10.

ranked outside the top 100. Now inside the top 30. Similar to our Jo

:14:11.:14:18.

Konta. Wins the singles and doubles. Goes to Roland Garros beats

:14:19.:14:20.

Angelique Kerber in the first round and goes all the way to the semis.

:14:21.:14:27.

Just an incredible story. She really gained so much confidence from

:14:28.:14:32.

winning seven matches in Nuremberg. And the doubleds as well. That's a

:14:33.:14:36.

lot of tennis before the French. Wasn't fatigued. She did get a calf

:14:37.:14:39.

strain in the quarter finals. I kept expecting Bertens to have a

:14:40.:15:04.

let down after beating Kerber in the first round, Madison Keys along the

:15:05.:15:05.

way as well. Simona Halep, it's very important

:15:06.:15:41.

for her to hug the baseline and hit the ball early.

:15:42.:16:07.

Because Halep doesn't have the raw power as some of the other elite

:16:08.:16:13.

players, she needs to hit the ball early to rob her opponents of time.

:16:14.:16:30.

Tall woman, Kiki Bertens, standing six feet, 1. 82 metres.

:16:31.:16:51.

Oh, a nasty slip. Halep is a wonderful mover on the court. No

:16:52.:17:02.

damage to Bertens. That was a phenomenal drop shot. Not many would

:17:03.:17:09.

be able to track that ball down. That's always scary.

:17:10.:17:48.

Darren Cahill, coach of Halep, very fine Australian player. Very good

:17:49.:17:52.

commentator as well. These two have met just once before

:17:53.:18:27.

at tour level. That was in 2012 on the clay courts in Morocco in the

:18:28.:18:31.

semifinals. Bertens won in straight sets.

:18:32.:18:44.

That's an overrule. And Simona Halep is challenging the umpire's

:18:45.:18:52.

overrule. Line judge called it good. I have a feeling he won't overrule

:18:53.:18:58.

too quickly again in this match. Halep has one of the sweetest back

:18:59.:19:37.

hands on tour. It's her bigger weapon.

:19:38.:20:14.

Billie Jean King. Great to see the champions in the house. Margaret

:20:15.:20:22.

Court, saw her at a barbeque last night, her husband Barry.

:20:23.:20:26.

Really special for them to come back as well. Margaret, 24 major singles

:20:27.:20:32.

titles, the record. A good recovery from Simona Halep,

:20:33.:21:17.

the number five seed, against the number 26 seed. Because of course,

:21:18.:21:20.

with 32 seeds in the draw, once you get to the third round, the last 32,

:21:21.:21:27.

the seeds start playing each other. The winner of this match will play

:21:28.:21:32.

either Madison Keys, the number nine seed, or the unseeded French woman,

:21:33.:21:43.

Alize Cornet. Lovely, complete player Halep, but as you say,

:21:44.:21:47.

lacking the overwhelming power of some of her rivals at the top of the

:21:48.:21:55.

game. At 5'6", well, there's nothing wrong with good little-'uns, as you

:21:56.:21:56.

would say. That's right. The nickname is

:21:57.:22:15.

Killer. The one I really like was Ken Roswall, which was Muscles. That

:22:16.:22:27.

is a terrific tennis mind in Cahill. Another Australian, Ashley Cooper,

:22:28.:22:31.

the champion here in 1958, beat Neil phraser in that final. Just in front

:22:32.:22:37.

of him Johnny Mac. He's skiving today. What's he doing up there? !

:22:38.:22:40.

Let's see how long he can sit still. Looking at a tall Dutch woman in

:22:41.:22:56.

Bertens, I suppose, inevitably my mind goes back to the 1977 final,

:22:57.:23:01.

Betty Stover against Virginia Wade. Very close, as you were saying, I

:23:02.:23:49.

don't think the umpire will be overruling any time soon.

:23:50.:24:32.

That was the coach of Kiki Bertens. Is that a Yankees cap he's wearing?

:24:33.:24:54.

He was also a top professional on the ATP Tour.

:24:55.:25:20.

Great to see Halep hitting her forehand so well. That's the

:25:21.:25:26.

barometer for me. The backhand is usually on and accurate.

:25:27.:25:58.

That forehand just not enough on it from Halep. Left hanging in the

:25:59.:26:03.

middle of the court. Bertens attacking with a little more

:26:04.:26:04.

penetration. Often times you see the more

:26:05.:26:28.

diminutive players are so quick. They have to make up for that loss

:26:29.:26:30.

in size. Beautiful play from both of them.

:26:31.:27:10.

Great start from Bertens, not overwhelmed by the situation.

:27:11.:27:18.

Hall hall a lot more experience on big courts in the last three, four

:27:19.:27:21.

years. It has to be that good to prevent

:27:22.:28:18.

Halep getting to it. Halep will go almost every time on the running

:28:19.:28:23.

cross. Bertens there, plenty of time.

:28:24.:28:58.

Bertens already winning more games than on her previous appearance on

:28:59.:29:05.

the Centre Court. She'll be relieved about that.

:29:06.:29:21.

Such a different player a year on, at 24 years old. A lot's gone on in

:29:22.:29:30.

her life in the last couple of years. She had ankle surgery.

:29:31.:29:45.

A couple of things turned her career around. First, spending three weeks

:29:46.:29:52.

alone at the beginning of the preseason working out three times a

:29:53.:29:56.

day, no tennis. Her fitness got better.

:29:57.:30:19.

The other was in Rabat at the beginning of the clay-court season,

:30:20.:30:29.

she had a match point in the semifinal and lost, she had a long

:30:30.:30:32.

talk with her coach afterwards and said she was always so stressed out.

:30:33.:30:37.

From then on they were just going to do the best that they could every

:30:38.:30:43.

single day. Go back and take the pressure off.

:30:44.:31:15.

Brilliant. Lovely exploitation of the angle provided by her opponent.

:31:16.:31:29.

Just an incredible mover and athlete.

:31:30.:31:51.

It seems to me that the women's game is in a state of flux at the moment.

:31:52.:32:00.

Serena is not the dominant force she was a year ago. Still very much the

:32:01.:32:05.

world number one. And you are waiting for some of the younger

:32:06.:32:10.

players to come through and consistently win the big titles.

:32:11.:32:15.

We've seen them this year, Angelique Kerber wins the Australian, loses

:32:16.:32:20.

first round in the next major, Simona Halep, there are a number of

:32:21.:32:27.

them, but they are not performing at the highest level consistently.

:32:28.:32:32.

That's what you need from them. That's what we kind of expect from

:32:33.:32:41.

our champions. There is another one to add to that list, Azarenka. She

:32:42.:32:48.

came back so strong this year winning Brisbane, then winning

:32:49.:32:54.

Indian Wells, beating Serena in the finals, Sunshine double win in Miami

:32:55.:32:59.

as well, beating Kuznetsova. Being a bit of a merry-go-round after Serena

:33:00.:33:02.

Williams at the top of the game. That a key tactic for Simona Halep,

:33:03.:34:04.

go deep at the beginning of the point, somehow find a way to get the

:34:05.:34:07.

angle is built into the point, converts on the move.

:34:08.:34:24.

One thing her opponents at Roland Garros mentioned, coming up with

:34:25.:34:35.

better defence. Always known for her offence. Still can be exploited,

:34:36.:34:43.

particularly on this surface. But a few errors in this game from

:34:44.:34:49.

Bertens. And a golden opportunity for Halep to open up a two-game

:34:50.:34:52.

lead. A little error strewn, that game,

:34:53.:35:25.

from Bertens. Ooh! Oh my. How did Simona get that

:35:26.:36:27.

back? The ball was passed her. It is effort like this that staff to get

:36:28.:36:32.

in her opponent's read. I think Bertens was shocked she got it back

:36:33.:36:42.

in play -- get in her opponent's head. Halep's start to try to hit

:36:43.:36:51.

the ball too fine. Former champion from Romania, managers Halep. She

:36:52.:36:56.

had a big forehand. She was all the way in the alley hitting forehands.

:36:57.:36:58.

Couldn't get it to her backhand. A little slice, keeping low, keeping

:36:59.:37:31.

short. Didn't really get up to it, Halep. So effective, change of pace.

:37:32.:37:44.

She does chat away to herself. Not normally with approval.

:37:45.:38:10.

The opportunity for Bertens to break straight back. Not won a point on

:38:11.:38:20.

her second serve. Definitely a liability in her game.

:38:21.:38:35.

We talked about her incredible run at Roland Garros, how important it

:38:36.:39:08.

was for her psychologically to get to the semifinals, and make that

:39:09.:39:11.

huge breakthrough. One thing that has not been talked about a lot was

:39:12.:39:16.

the match she played against Daria Kasatkina, a third-round match.

:39:17.:39:24.

According to Dutch federation rules, even if you are in the Olympics

:39:25.:39:28.

based on your rankings, if you don't get to at least the fourth round of

:39:29.:39:35.

a major, they will not take you. And Bertens won 10-8 in the third, and

:39:36.:39:41.

there was so much on the line. Even in the stands people were

:39:42.:39:46.

recognising, so much emotion in the fact she did call a fine.

:39:47.:40:37.

Halep hasn't won points since she was talking to herself. So she

:40:38.:40:46.

shouldn't listen to herself, is the lesson.

:40:47.:40:57.

The lesson for me is that she has to be positive. That point she was up

:40:58.:41:07.

4-2. Little subtleties of the way players react, their emotions on

:41:08.:41:13.

Court are so telling. To much of a perfectionist, and hard on herself.

:41:14.:41:26.

Yes, I can understand that reaction from Darren Cave hill.

:41:27.:41:38.

Positive self coaching is so important between points. First

:41:39.:41:59.

double fault of the match going for a big second serve, up 40-0.

:42:00.:42:25.

Oh, Mary. Are you a great baker? You wouldn't know, she's the star of the

:42:26.:42:36.

great British bake off, do you bake cakes? A bit. We'll have to do is

:42:37.:42:38.

introduce you later. One of those moments where you put

:42:39.:43:05.

your hand up in apology and say to yourself "Yes! Can I have another of

:43:06.:43:14.

those, please?" It's not good sportsmanship, it's just expected in

:43:15.:43:15.

our game. Excellent point construction from

:43:16.:44:16.

Bertens, sliced backhand on the run. Flat backhand, deep to push Halep

:44:17.:44:19.

back. Sharp forehand angle. I like seeing Halep take time here,

:44:20.:45:02.

in a rush. -- not in a rush. Excellent white serve. Very

:45:03.:45:45.

impressive. -- wide serve. Need to get that first serve in

:45:46.:46:20.

because so far winning very few points behind second. Always that

:46:21.:46:23.

way in her matches. Huge weapon. So, Halep eases in front. And it's

:46:24.:47:00.

5-4. And it's interesting, our lovely graphics people do a great

:47:01.:47:04.

job for us, they've identified the fact that she struggles far more

:47:05.:47:08.

behind the second serve now than she was when she reached the semifinals

:47:09.:47:15.

here two years ago. You can see the difference.

:47:16.:47:25.

The other statistics showing an improvement, first serves in,

:47:26.:47:33.

terrific. Service games won a little bit down. But that is the big

:47:34.:47:39.

difference. Our players realising that's the way to attack? Coupled

:47:40.:47:45.

with the fact that she might not be going for as big a second serve.

:47:46.:47:50.

Second serve is based on confidence, willingness to go after it.

:47:51.:48:45.

Not enough depth. There's a lady who packs a punch, Nicola Adams, first

:48:46.:48:52.

lady in history to win an Olympic boxing medal. Now world champion as

:48:53.:49:00.

well. She'll be defending her title in Rio.

:49:01.:50:03.

That's beautiful hitting. Halep really on target now. Clean ball

:50:04.:50:16.

striking. Inside the baseline. Hitting the early. Big first serve,

:50:17.:50:25.

same as the first of the three set points. Goes to the towel to the

:50:26.:50:29.

group. -- regroup. Ooh, another magnificent angle, and

:50:30.:50:53.

Halep has the first set. So, five breaks of serve in that

:50:54.:51:17.

opening set. Halep's ground strokes perhaps the decisive factor. Broken

:51:18.:51:23.

in the first game but really picked it up with the 4-2 lead. Mental

:51:24.:51:29.

lapse, a bit hard on herself. Showed a great response to pick up a level,

:51:30.:51:41.

elevate. Started hitting the ball with a little extra precision and

:51:42.:51:49.

power. That's good news. You can see that outside the sun is out and I

:51:50.:51:53.

imagine play will be underway on the outside courts in the not too

:51:54.:51:57.

distant future. Have a look at the statistics. Both of them really

:51:58.:52:06.

struggling behind the second serve. First serves in, Bertens really

:52:07.:52:12.

needs to up that. She relies on that as a weapon. She might want to go

:52:13.:52:19.

just a little bigger on her second serve, take more risks.

:52:20.:52:36.

Lovely view of the lake in Wimbledon Park, all the way to the City of

:52:37.:52:43.

London. The that once you start a match the roof you complete the

:52:44.:52:48.

match under the roof, even if it is glorious sunshine outside. Might

:52:49.:52:53.

well open it, though, for the start of the Andy Murray match, next.

:52:54.:54:08.

A little bigger on the second serve, there.

:54:09.:54:44.

So, the first Love game of the match for Halep. Bertens really needs to

:54:45.:54:58.

up her game here. Otherwise Halep will race away with the second set.

:54:59.:55:02.

In good form at the moment, the Romanian.

:55:03.:55:21.

Bertens had that calf injury at Roland Garros, played the semifinals

:55:22.:55:28.

against Serena and pushed her six and four. Wasn't moving at 100%. I

:55:29.:55:35.

wonder how long it took her to get that back in shape. Talked about the

:55:36.:55:44.

ankle surgery that she had a couple of years ago.

:55:45.:56:14.

These are a lot of errors. Smiling, but not inwardly. Real mental lapse,

:56:15.:56:38.

here. A little frustrated with how Halep is playing. So consistent,

:56:39.:56:44.

tracking everything down. This is where you just wonder if

:56:45.:57:16.

Bertens not being able to play a grass court event leading up to

:57:17.:57:28.

Wimbledon is showing up. This is a whole other element.

:57:29.:57:41.

Quick points on grass, it can get away from you very quickly.

:57:42.:58:10.

That was an nifty drop shot. Even Darren is impressed. Yes!

:58:11.:58:32.

Played 12 points in this set. Halep's won 11 of them.

:58:33.:58:59.

Things can move so rapidly. Halep now so relaxed. STUDIO: We will be

:59:00.:59:12.

right back on Centre Court. Just to show you what is happening outside,

:59:13.:59:16.

everybody getting excited five minutes ago, courts uncovered, sun

:59:17.:59:22.

was out, but now another of those showers has come through Wimbledon,

:59:23.:59:25.

as Darren promised. It is supposed to last just a few minutes and

:59:26.:59:29.

hopefully we will have more of that blue sky heading our way. And all

:59:30.:59:34.

eyes will be on this court of course, Court Number One. While they

:59:35.:59:37.

have covered the outside courts, they have not covered Court Number

:59:38.:59:42.

One, not quite sure why. Maybe they do not think the rain is heavy

:59:43.:59:45.

enough to do that but certainly people have umbrellas on. But that's

:59:46.:59:53.

Novak Djokovic against Sam Querrey, who was 2-0 up insects when rain

:59:54.:00:00.

stopped play last night. -- in sets. Play will resume their shortly. We

:00:01.:00:04.

are hoping for more play in just a moment. One result is to bring you

:00:05.:00:10.

is Marian Cilic is through, defeating Lukas Lacko of Slovakia.

:00:11.:00:12.

The number nine seed through. A must-win game, you feel, for Kiki

:00:13.:00:19.

Bertens. Just spectacular hitting. Terrific

:00:20.:00:48.

technique, particularly on the backhand side.

:00:49.:01:07.

That was playing with fire. Well, just a different look. Should have

:01:08.:01:19.

been passed. It was a pretty easy one to make.

:01:20.:01:28.

She looks up. She needs to serve to catch fire.

:01:29.:01:35.

First ace of the match. A must-win game here. Because this

:01:36.:02:03.

court is so difficult to play on when you're losing this badly.

:02:04.:02:07.

You get embarrassed very quickly. The coach will be feeling for her.

:02:08.:02:34.

He'll have gone through periods like this.

:02:35.:03:08.

Missed opportunity there. First service percentage near 50%. That is

:03:09.:03:21.

very difficult playing an owe pontent as good as Simona Halep --

:03:22.:03:22.

opponent. Finding a couple of really good

:03:23.:03:43.

first serves just when Just so hard for Bertens right now

:03:44.:04:28.

to find that right ratio of offence and keeping that ball in place.

:04:29.:04:34.

Doesn't go enough and Halep is there with the answer to the corners.

:04:35.:04:50.

The first point Bertens has won against the Halep serve in this set.

:04:51.:05:23.

Hit one of these excellent drop shots in the first set and Halep

:05:24.:05:27.

tracked it down, not this time. It was her opportunity lost because

:05:28.:05:53.

it wasn't a great serve. It was short. So important in the score

:05:54.:05:55.

line. At the moment, Simona Halep cruising

:05:56.:06:19.

along very nicely indeed. Sometimes she looks pretty

:06:20.:06:35.

uncomfortable on the court these days, always getting down on

:06:36.:06:40.

herself. Because she is such a perfectionist, but not today. That's

:06:41.:06:48.

what Darren works on with her. Obviously some technique, strategy

:06:49.:06:54.

as well. But it's that active process of replacing those bad

:06:55.:06:57.

thoughts with good thoughts. And keeping the emotions in tact. That's

:06:58.:07:03.

so important. Because thoughts follow the emotions. And the actions

:07:04.:07:11.

follow the thoughts. All connected. Did you ever consult a sports

:07:12.:07:15.

psychologist during your career? I did not. More and more do these

:07:16.:07:20.

days. I could see where it could be so helpful and crucial. So many

:07:21.:07:25.

players have talked about how that was the crucial element, Jo Konta,

:07:26.:07:29.

it really turned their career around.

:07:30.:08:25.

The acoustics under the roof are such that when they really connect

:08:26.:08:31.

with the ball, it makes the most wonderful sound. The longest rally

:08:32.:08:33.

of the match, 13 shots. UMPIRE: Ball change please, new

:08:34.:08:42.

balls. Getting more first serves in doesn't

:08:43.:09:55.

half help. Cutting down on her unforced errors. Ann Jones,

:09:56.:10:05.

Britain's Wimbledon champions since the war.

:10:06.:10:32.

Kiki has an unusual backhand, extremely flat. Really doesn't get

:10:33.:10:39.

underneath the ball, just straight through the ball.

:10:40.:11:11.

Terrific hitting from Halep. We talked about the bottom half of the

:11:12.:11:18.

draw being wide-open, with Muguruza out. Halep has to be in the

:11:19.:11:20.

equation. First ace of the match from Simona

:11:21.:12:19.

Halep takes the number five seed to within one game of the Fourth Round,

:12:20.:12:28.

the round of the last 16. Bertens, even if she lose that's match, will

:12:29.:12:33.

have still had her best ever Wimbledon, so will move up the

:12:34.:12:42.

rankings even more. I'm just thinking, if it is Halep against

:12:43.:12:47.

Madison Keys, that would be a lovely contrast. The raw power of mad son

:12:48.:12:52.

who won the title in Birmingham a couple of weeks ago against the

:12:53.:12:56.

retreating skills of Halep. Absolutely. Madison Keys has two

:12:57.:13:01.

titles in her young career, both on grass. Quarter timist last year. She

:13:02.:13:07.

has a tricky opponent today in Alize Cornet, of course, beat Serena a few

:13:08.:13:13.

years back. The bottom half of the draw is interesting because there's

:13:14.:13:15.

so many possibilities and opportunities.

:13:16.:13:40.

One of those possibilities, Venus Williams, who is already in the

:13:41.:13:45.

Fourth Round. Three matches today were still in the second round.

:13:46.:14:59.

Well, keeps the match alive. Cliff Richard in his place in the members'

:15:00.:15:14.

enclosure. Stayed away last year for understandable reasons, but has now

:15:15.:15:15.

been cleared of suspicion. Simona Halep hits the best with just

:15:16.:15:56.

a touch of topspin on it. A little extra pressure from

:15:57.:16:39.

Bertens. Great ball striking. That massive backhand from her set up

:16:40.:16:49.

this forehand, right up the middle. That's how Geoff Hirst used to take

:16:50.:16:52.

penalties, smashed it straight -- smashed it straight down the

:16:53.:17:05.

middle. There he is, hat-trick in the 1966

:17:06.:17:13.

word Cup Final, of course. Halep has played very offencively

:17:14.:17:55.

today. Instinctively she likes to rely on the defence. . Has to force

:17:56.:17:59.

herself to go out of her comfort zone.

:18:00.:18:36.

She's missed it. Well, has she. She's challenging. It's the

:18:37.:18:47.

difference between match point or break point.

:18:48.:18:52.

And it's break point. A fist pump. Starting to find her game, just in

:18:53.:19:03.

time. Wonderful second serve and it takes

:19:04.:20:01.

Simona Halep to match point. That was clutch and brave.

:20:02.:20:25.

UMPIRE: Game, set and match Miss Halep. 69 minutes and Simona Halep

:20:26.:20:36.

will get a day off tomorrow. She won't need to play tennis. She's

:20:37.:20:38.

into the last 16. Always special to make it to the

:20:39.:20:49.

second week of a Grand Slam, but particularly here at Wimbledon.

:20:50.:20:54.

There is that clear distinction. She played extremely well. And very

:20:55.:20:59.

aggressively as you were saying, willing to move up, stay on the

:21:00.:21:03.

baseline, which you said or indeed the baseline, which you said very

:21:04.:21:07.

much at the start was the secret of success on this court. It's one of

:21:08.:21:14.

the keys for Simona Halep, hit the ball early, on the rise, cleanly and

:21:15.:21:18.

accurate. She got better and better as she went in the match. Good

:21:19.:21:26.

reception from the crowd. Fine hitting from both of them. Kiki

:21:27.:21:37.

Bertens first time in the third round of Wimbledon. So that's good

:21:38.:21:42.

progress. She got to her seeded place into the third round. She will

:21:43.:21:50.

move up in the rankings. Having been outside the top 100 at the start of

:21:51.:21:54.

the year, will be pressing to get into the top 20. Simona Halep into

:21:55.:22:00.

the Fourth Round without losing a set. Last year, she had a difficult

:22:01.:22:18.

Wimbledon, losing in the first round to Cepelova. Players are very good

:22:19.:22:20.

at this, -- at this, signing autographs now.

:22:21.:22:35.

The first match is over of the day on Centre Court.

:22:36.:22:42.

Simona Halep will play Madison Keys or Alize Cornet in the Fourth Round

:22:43.:22:47.

on Monday. Right now, though, she's going to be chatting with us.

:22:48.:22:53.

Congratulations, you're into the last 16. How would you sum up your

:22:54.:22:57.

performance today? Thank you. Yeah I'm really excited that I will play

:22:58.:23:02.

Fourth Round here at Wimbledon. It's one of my special grand slams. It's

:23:03.:23:06.

really nice to play on Centre Court. It was amazing today. I played a

:23:07.:23:10.

good tennis. I'm happy that I could win in two sets. It was on odd first

:23:11.:23:15.

set, five breaks of serve, but you broke when it mattered, you held

:23:16.:23:18.

when it mattered. How crucial was that to set up the second set? I can

:23:19.:23:23.

say that I'm not a very big server, so I have to exercise a lot the

:23:24.:23:29.

return. So today I had a good return. Actually she serves really

:23:30.:23:33.

well, very strong. I was able to return very strong. I kept myself in

:23:34.:23:39.

the end and I think, I played smart, aggressive today. I really liked

:23:40.:23:44.

that the court was indoor actually. This is your first grass tournament

:23:45.:23:48.

of the season. You had an Achilles injury. Are you back to your best?

:23:49.:23:53.

Yeah, I had the pain in my Achilles. I couldn't play Birmingham. So I

:23:54.:23:57.

came straight to here to practice. I had many days before the tournament

:23:58.:24:02.

started. I can say that I am OK, I'm fit now. Sometimes, some days I have

:24:03.:24:06.

pain again. I don't know what is going on with my Achilles. Now I was

:24:07.:24:10.

able to play the match and I hope the next round will be the same. The

:24:11.:24:14.

good news is you get a day off tomorrow. You play the winner of

:24:15.:24:17.

Madison Keys and Alize Cornet. They are yet to play. Will you cast an

:24:18.:24:22.

eye over that later today and see what the opponent has to offer? Not

:24:23.:24:26.

really. I'm not doing that job, my coach does. After tomorrow we will

:24:27.:24:29.

speak just what I have to do on court. I'm going just to do my job.

:24:30.:24:34.

I'm really excited to be in the Fourth Round. I'm just looking

:24:35.:24:37.

forward to give my best. Congratulations today. Thank you.

:24:38.:24:42.

SUE BARKER: Very impressive performance from Simona Halep, who

:24:43.:24:47.

certainly knows her way around a grass court, a semifinalist here two

:24:48.:24:51.

years ago. Very dangerous again with so many seeds falling in the ladies

:24:52.:24:56.

championships, it's really anybody's title at the moment. Serena Williams

:24:57.:25:00.

being pushed to the limit. Watch out, Simona Halep could go deep into

:25:01.:25:06.

this tournament. Darren Cahill, the coach, very happy. He enjoys working

:25:07.:25:10.

with her. Says her work ethic is exceptional. She's one of the first

:25:11.:25:14.

through to the Fourth Round. We'll have Andy Murray on Centre Court in

:25:15.:25:18.

a moment. Everyone enjoying the sunshine here. We have had rain

:25:19.:25:21.

here. At the moment, the sun is shining. Let's hope it stays that

:25:22.:25:26.

way. So much tennis to catch unon. The big story -- catch up on. The

:25:27.:25:30.

big story overnight is what would happen to Novak Djokovic. Two sets

:25:31.:25:34.

down as play resumed against Sam Querrey. A champion's response. Here

:25:35.:25:38.

he is just a moment ago taking the third set 6-3. So the man that has

:25:39.:25:44.

looked virtually unbeatable over the past 12 months is back in this

:25:45.:25:48.

match. That is live over on BBC Two right now. Djokovic has taken that

:25:49.:25:57.

third set there. Centre Court roof is still closed. We hear they are

:25:58.:26:01.

going to open it. And very shortly, walking onto the hallowed turf of

:26:02.:26:06.

Centre Court, the crowd will be cheering on - you know who.

:26:07.:26:20.

Come on Andy. Come on, Andy. Come on, Andy! Come on, Andy. Come on

:26:21.:26:31.

Andy. Jom on Andy. -- come on Andy.

:26:32.:26:35.

Yes, we'll be hearing a lot of that, the excitement is growing here on

:26:36.:26:40.

Centre Court because Andy is about to continue his 2016 Wimbledon

:26:41.:26:41.

mission. Never lost an opening match at

:26:42.:26:56.

Wimbledon, Andy Murray. This could be the first of seven. Brody can't

:26:57.:27:06.

afford to give cheap points to Murray.

:27:07.:27:13.

-- Andy Murray in straight sets. A fiery start here. That's beautiful.

:27:14.:27:45.

He's a master, even by his standards, that was something

:27:46.:27:49.

special. Six games in ape row now for Murray. Painful to watch now. A

:27:50.:27:59.

tour deforce for Andy Murray. He has been in impressive form and John

:28:00.:28:02.

McEnroe was telling us earlier today that he's been impressed by Murray

:28:03.:28:07.

the most at these championships, in his opening two rounds. He's facing

:28:08.:28:12.

John Millman on Centre Court in a moment. Because of the weather that

:28:13.:28:16.

we've had, it's been raining every day of the championships, bar day

:28:17.:28:20.

one, it means that we will have play on the middle Sunday. It's only the

:28:21.:28:24.

fourth time in its history this has happened. I'm going to give you

:28:25.:28:29.

ticket details now. They will be available online from 3pm today.

:28:30.:28:33.

Details of where you can buy them can be found on the Wimbledon

:28:34.:28:37.

website. There will be no tickets on the day available. So if you don't

:28:38.:28:42.

manage to buy one online, do not turn up tomorrow. They will not be

:28:43.:28:48.

for sale here. There are 10,000 Centre Court tickets at ?70 each.

:28:49.:28:54.

8,000 for court one and 4,000 ground passes. A maximum of two tickets per

:28:55.:29:00.

household. Play will start at 11. 30am on all courts, including Centre

:29:01.:29:03.

Court and number one. There will be limited car parks in operation. So

:29:04.:29:09.

use public transport where possible. That is the news, very exciting

:29:10.:29:14.

people's Sunday tomorrow. We play catch up. Everyone wanting to be

:29:15.:29:19.

here, such a popular day this middle Saturday. Usually it's third round

:29:20.:29:23.

matches. But we're playing some second round matches as well bausz

:29:24.:29:26.

of the weather. -- because of the weather. We head to Centre Court

:29:27.:29:30.

soon. There's play on the outside court. Angelique Kerber the

:29:31.:29:35.

Australian Open champion is a set and 3-0 up against Carina Witthoeft,

:29:36.:29:39.

a fellow German. If you want to watch that, it's on the red button.

:29:40.:29:52.

On court 18, Grigor Dimitrov, former semifinalist here one set all with

:29:53.:29:55.

Steve Johnson. He won the Nottingham tournament. He's certainly doing

:29:56.:29:59.

well on the grass courts. One set all and Johnson has a break of serve

:30:00.:30:03.

early in the third set. That's on court 18. We have about 15 courts

:30:04.:30:08.

available for you online. They're available on the website, the BBC

:30:09.:30:12.

app or connected TV. Many ways to watch.

:30:13.:30:16.

That includes this man, Kei Nishikori, the number five seed. He

:30:17.:30:21.

is in action and going well against Andrey Kuznetsov.

:30:22.:30:31.

That is what is happening on this busy day. As you can see, the roof

:30:32.:30:39.

is opening and there is blue sky above. Isn't that wonderful? That

:30:40.:30:44.

scene will welcome Andy Murray in a few minutes. Not open enough for the

:30:45.:30:50.

players to come out. We will have a little chats with commentators for

:30:51.:30:54.

the next match, Jim and Mark. And there they are. Finally we have some

:30:55.:31:01.

sunshine, I had forgotten what it looked like! We hope it will stick

:31:02.:31:05.

around. That is the big question. It is spotty out here. An outdoor

:31:06.:31:09.

tournament and great to have the roof open. Andy has played well. I

:31:10.:31:14.

don't think he will be too bothered by conditions. It is a good draw

:31:15.:31:20.

opportunity against John Millman. John McEnroe said earlier he thinks

:31:21.:31:28.

that Murray's most impressive of anyone in the two rounds. When you

:31:29.:31:33.

look at what Novak is dealing with with Sam Querrey, that is fair, he

:31:34.:31:37.

has not been troubled, looked aggressive, has been very quiet,

:31:38.:31:41.

which is good for Andy Murray, not a lot of conversation back-up will

:31:42.:31:48.

stop what have you made of Andy Murray's progress? He has played

:31:49.:31:53.

well, no question, and it has been a good draw so far. As Jim said, up

:31:54.:32:00.

against John today. He will like his chances having watched the match

:32:01.:32:03.

they played in Brisbane. Not a lot the Australian will bring in general

:32:04.:32:08.

to hurt Andy's defences. He will be able to play on his terms. Andy

:32:09.:32:15.

Murray is a better player since 2013, what about John Millman? He is

:32:16.:32:20.

a better player. He has come back from serious injuries. He got out of

:32:21.:32:27.

tennis and had to work in finance a little bit so he is hungry to be

:32:28.:32:31.

back in the sport. He made the third round at the Australian Open this

:32:32.:32:34.

year and has tasted the third round of a major but this is a different

:32:35.:32:39.

level, playing Andy Murray on Centre Court on this surface. I agree, the

:32:40.:32:45.

weaponry is not there to really scare Andy Murray too much. He has a

:32:46.:32:50.

nice forehand. I think Murray can handle it comes to be. Stay there,

:32:51.:32:54.

of course you will, you are going the match, a stupid thing to say! We

:32:55.:33:00.

will talk more about Murray and John Millman, but first, Andy has spoken

:33:01.:33:02.

to Andrew Cotter. COMMENTATOR: Even by his standards

:33:03.:33:18.

that was something special. How close are you to being at your best?

:33:19.:33:23.

I think I finished the match really well. The start was tentative at the

:33:24.:33:28.

beginning. As the match went on I started to hit the ball better and

:33:29.:33:33.

better. I was feeling more comfortable with my movement. I just

:33:34.:33:39.

need to keep building on that. If you can get three matches the

:33:40.:33:42.

quicker the better, you do not have to be smart to work that out. What

:33:43.:33:46.

about time between matches, your life has changed? Used to watch

:33:47.:33:53.

maybe DVDs, but now do you have paternal responsibilities? On off

:33:54.:33:59.

days I have time on my hands and spend time at home with the family,

:34:00.:34:03.

which is nice. It is good to take your mind off the tennis and I find

:34:04.:34:11.

that very relaxing. I do not find looking after my daughter is

:34:12.:34:17.

stressful, I really enjoyed it. Do she sleep well? She sleeps well.

:34:18.:34:22.

John Millman, you played him once and it was a close match. It was a

:34:23.:34:27.

tough match. Brisbane is his hometown and he was ranked around

:34:28.:34:32.

200 at the time and I had never seen him play and he played really well.

:34:33.:34:40.

I think a set and a break down and it was really tough. I told my coach

:34:41.:34:45.

after, I said this guy should be top 50. I think he is close to that

:34:46.:34:53.

right now. He is really fit, a good move and works extremely hard. A

:34:54.:34:57.

great attitude. It will be a tough match.

:34:58.:35:03.

All I can say is bring back Carol Kirkwood. My weather predictions are

:35:04.:35:11.

rubbish. I greeted the blue sky and sunshine and no sooner have I said

:35:12.:35:15.

that, a black cloud comes over and the umbrellas are up and they have

:35:16.:35:21.

covered Centre Court. Having opened the roof, put it on reverse and

:35:22.:35:25.

close it again and hopefully we will have Andy Murray on court in a

:35:26.:35:29.

moment. It has been one of those weeks. Since the first day when we

:35:30.:35:37.

had a full day's play, the players have been off and on court. Worrying

:35:38.:35:41.

for Novak Djokovic and Sam Querrey to find a winner in that match. They

:35:42.:35:50.

are scurrying for the locker room again in a moment. They kept those

:35:51.:35:54.

players on court. This is the crew on Centre Court waiting to see what

:35:55.:35:59.

is going to happen. Will they close the roof, just take the covers off?

:36:00.:36:04.

Hopefully the cloud will pass over. We can carry on our chat. Would you

:36:05.:36:09.

like to have a go at predicting the weather? I feel the Centre Court

:36:10.:36:14.

crew are just feeling left out, let's open the roof so we can get

:36:15.:36:19.

involved, make sure our chops are sharp! Novak and Sam on Court Number

:36:20.:36:26.

One, they kept them on court under an umbrella, so that is a tricky

:36:27.:36:32.

time for them. That is very tricky. In the same way the rain delay

:36:33.:36:36.

probably saved Novak Djokovic last night, maybe this is helping Sam to

:36:37.:36:43.

regroup. He got a break of serve late in the third set, which

:36:44.:36:45.

probably gives him hope, but his service had been not challenged in

:36:46.:36:55.

the first sets. It is a chance to regroup and chat to his coach and

:36:56.:36:59.

get going again. We can see on the pictures Novak is going off and they

:37:00.:37:07.

are going to cover the court. The players will probably go to the

:37:08.:37:12.

waiting room. It is not a very big cloud overhead. Hopefully we will

:37:13.:37:18.

get sunshine back. Jim, you know Sam well. I looked at the stats. He had

:37:19.:37:24.

not got more than three games off Novak in the last seven sets but he

:37:25.:37:29.

came out and everything was working. It is a different Sam Querrey this

:37:30.:37:34.

year. Last year he struggled with matches where he had a lead and this

:37:35.:37:40.

year he had a big win, his first title in some time and since then he

:37:41.:37:45.

has gathered momentum. This time last year he had won 20 matches in

:37:46.:37:52.

2015 and he has already won 22 on tour this season. He is rolling the

:37:53.:37:58.

dice with Novak. He knows he has to play fast, aggressively, and he has

:37:59.:38:04.

to try to dominate Novak. That is what he has done a nice job of early

:38:05.:38:09.

in the match, the question is, can you close the deal? Yesterday Novak

:38:10.:38:14.

looked apathetic in the second set, like he had checked out. The rain

:38:15.:38:19.

saved his chances. Now he has engaged and he is back, not in

:38:20.:38:24.

command by any means, but back in the match. For Sam, regroup, try to

:38:25.:38:32.

throttle the world nobble one and take his racket out of his hand as

:38:33.:38:38.

much as possible. We saw it with Kevin Anderson, 2-0 down, he has a

:38:39.:38:42.

habit of having a worrying match early in the tournament. You can

:38:43.:38:47.

never just ruler him out of any match because of the way he returns

:38:48.:38:52.

at the end of the day, his great strength. For Sam, he had a night to

:38:53.:38:56.

sleep on a potentially famous victory which is not easy. The

:38:57.:39:01.

psychological pressure Novak has put on the tour, because of his

:39:02.:39:05.

dominance, it is something they struggled to deal with. I think that

:39:06.:39:09.

makes his performance on Court Number One even more impressive and

:39:10.:39:12.

perhaps more impressively for everyone in Britain is the sunshine

:39:13.:39:18.

bathing Centre Court right now. Your prediction finally came right. I am

:39:19.:39:24.

not going there again. Jim, you must feel really happy with life. Sam

:39:25.:39:29.

Querrey is doing well, you have Jack Sock. As American Davis Cup captain

:39:30.:39:36.

things are looking up. Steve Johnson, also. John Isner is playing

:39:37.:39:41.

later today. A good tournament for the American men, who have taken

:39:42.:39:46.

criticism because they have not been Andy Roddick and the generation

:39:47.:39:51.

prior to that. They are getting the most out of their talent, and we are

:39:52.:39:57.

getting closer to see that with these players and it's good to see

:39:58.:40:00.

Sam back with the form that led him up to top ten. He should be a player

:40:01.:40:06.

ranked between 10-25. Steve Johnson is having a terrific time on the

:40:07.:40:12.

grass. It gives me a lot to think about where we play Croatia in the

:40:13.:40:17.

US. Marin Cilic will be difficult. It is nice to have really great

:40:18.:40:22.

choices. It is going well. What a lovely problem to have. Spoilt for

:40:23.:40:29.

choice. Mark, the American women are doing well. Madison Keys. Back into

:40:30.:40:35.

the top ten. The bottom half of the draw is opening up now Muguruza has

:40:36.:40:40.

gone. It did with the way she went out. Somewhat surprising, her

:40:41.:40:46.

performance in the match. A lot of women will look at that and feel

:40:47.:40:50.

their chances have grown. Because we saw how well Muguruza could play in

:40:51.:40:58.

Paris and has strong she is. Whenever a big seed fools everybody

:40:59.:41:02.

feels perhaps it is going to be their tournament, finally to make a

:41:03.:41:06.

name for themselves, and how does everybody handle the pressure? You

:41:07.:41:09.

suddenly see surprising results because of that. As far as Britain

:41:10.:41:15.

is concerned, we talk about American tennis with four men in the top 100

:41:16.:41:20.

and a woman seated at Wimbledon for the first time and we saw the Davis

:41:21.:41:24.

Cup team parading the Davis Cup at the presentation. It is a good time

:41:25.:41:29.

for British tennis. It is a very good time and it should be

:41:30.:41:33.

celebrated and hopefully built on, which will be crucial, in terms of

:41:34.:41:37.

infrastructure at grassroots. Perhaps more importantly at clubs

:41:38.:41:41.

across the country and the academies, that we can build on

:41:42.:41:47.

success Andy has had, the Davis Cup team, and Jo Konta. A bit like the

:41:48.:41:52.

American men and women right now, they are pushing each other and for

:41:53.:41:55.

a long time in British tennis we have not had the rivalries where

:41:56.:42:00.

everybody has been urging the other two slightly greater heights. They

:42:01.:42:04.

respect each other but they want to be better than that person and the

:42:05.:42:07.

more you can get in the mix with that you will see better results, as

:42:08.:42:12.

we have in the last two years. It will be interesting the week after

:42:13.:42:17.

Wimbledon. We'll Novak and Andy both be playing in Belgrade in the Davis

:42:18.:42:23.

Cup? How tight is everybody's schedule given it is the Olympics

:42:24.:42:27.

and you have Davis Cup after this tournament. It is a big ask, from

:42:28.:42:34.

grass, two red clay in Belgrade and then reshuffle, probably go to

:42:35.:42:39.

Toronto, maybe not, but it is a master 's 1000 events leading into

:42:40.:42:44.

the Rio Olympics. It is a packed schedule. It is tricky. I would be

:42:45.:42:50.

surprised if both Murray and Djokovic are in Belgrade for that

:42:51.:42:54.

tournament, but we will see. We can see on the monitor that Novak

:42:55.:42:58.

probably has gone to the waiting room because he is about to step

:42:59.:43:07.

back on. Big Sam is making way for the others to go on. It makes it

:43:08.:43:13.

doubly difficult, on and off, not easy to get focused. They are

:43:14.:43:17.

experienced athletes and have been there and done this before but it is

:43:18.:43:23.

still difficult. It is exceptionally difficult and for Novak, at the

:43:24.:43:27.

moment, with the one roof, it must have been tough for him, holding all

:43:28.:43:32.

four major titles at the same time, that he is on the court that does

:43:33.:43:37.

not have the luxury of a roof, to try to push that so-called

:43:38.:43:42.

injustice. It is a great court. Everybody needs to be able to see

:43:43.:43:46.

everybody around the grounds, at certain times, so you can understand

:43:47.:43:51.

why. When you are trying to create another piece of history at

:43:52.:43:55.

Wimbledon, the fact it is getting interrupted because of the weather

:43:56.:43:58.

and had you been on another court perhaps you could have got the match

:43:59.:44:03.

finished, in a single sitting, that must have been difficult for him, as

:44:04.:44:10.

well. What did you make of Djokovic yesterday in the second set? Was he

:44:11.:44:20.

out hit? Was the bemused? Credit to Sam Querrey who played a fantastic

:44:21.:44:25.

opening set. It is easy when you watch top players struggle, you feel

:44:26.:44:28.

they are the ones playing badly but there is a lot of talent on tour and

:44:29.:44:34.

Sam showed that. As this gets back under way without a warm up. Novak

:44:35.:44:38.

looked flat for the first time. I do not know whether it was conditions,

:44:39.:44:47.

the situation, but credit to him and his team, he has come out and shown

:44:48.:44:51.

the competitive fire you need to come back from two sets down. It was

:44:52.:44:58.

a short break, there is no warm up. If you want to watch Novak up

:44:59.:45:03.

against Sam Querrey, that is on BBC Two. That match continues on BBC

:45:04.:45:10.

Two. I am talking to Jim and Mark. We are hearing that no one can find

:45:11.:45:17.

John Millman at the moment! You can run, but you can't hide, John. It is

:45:18.:45:25.

a long way home! Ivan Lendl is not happy, he has been sitting out there

:45:26.:45:32.

ten minutes. When is Ivan looking happy? He is ecstatic! We hope John

:45:33.:45:39.

Millman will be found. This is a huge day for him. Lee McKenzie met

:45:40.:45:43.

the Australian who has shown so much strength to come back from a career

:45:44.:45:44.

threatening injury. I think Andy's record speaks for

:45:45.:45:57.

itself. I have grown up and watch Andy play and he is a great player.

:45:58.:46:03.

He is a different animal in a five set match. It would be disrespectful

:46:04.:46:08.

to him if I did not go out there and believe in myself. I have played him

:46:09.:46:13.

before and also Roger before. I am never going to go into a match

:46:14.:46:21.

thinking, the task is too tall. I want to give myself the best chance

:46:22.:46:25.

and that means sticking to my guns and backing myself and leaving it

:46:26.:46:30.

out on court. You are used to fighting. You have had injury

:46:31.:46:34.

setbacks. This in comparison is probably easy, but give an insight

:46:35.:46:39.

into how close you came to having to stop because of injury? Very close.

:46:40.:46:44.

I have had two shoulder surgeries, the last in 2013 that put me out 14

:46:45.:46:50.

months almost. I had to start from scratch and it was difficult. I

:46:51.:46:55.

crept into the first time last year in Wimbledon, so it is a special

:46:56.:47:00.

place. The first time I played last year. I was close to stopping but

:47:01.:47:04.

this makes the rehab worth it, to still be in this tournament. To be

:47:05.:47:09.

playing a big match against a big player is what you want. Will you

:47:10.:47:13.

have your game face on all will you just enjoy the moment as well? It

:47:14.:47:17.

will be different to being on Court Number One or Centre Court. Maybe

:47:18.:47:21.

they will put me on 16, something familiar! I can look back and enjoy

:47:22.:47:29.

the experience. I am a competitor at heart. That is what I live for, to

:47:30.:47:34.

compete to the best of my ability and to give myself the best shot.

:47:35.:47:39.

When I am out there, I will try to be as tough as I can and make it as

:47:40.:47:44.

hard as it can be for a great player like Andy and then I can look back

:47:45.:47:51.

and maybe appreciate it a little more. I hope they find him. Somebody

:47:52.:47:56.

spotted him on Centre Court. There he is, soaking up the atmosphere. He

:47:57.:48:00.

knew where he was playing. Maybe that frightened him off, Jim? I

:48:01.:48:06.

think he is looking for his game face. It is somewhere in the grounds

:48:07.:48:13.

and he misplaced! Everything is set to go. We have ball boys, girls,

:48:14.:48:19.

lines people. We are ready. I do not know where he has gone. That was

:48:20.:48:25.

from earlier. We might go back to my career highlights if we carry on!

:48:26.:48:31.

That will not take long! As far as Murray is concerned, against

:48:32.:48:36.

Yen-Hsun Lu, tricky, break is served early but Murray got better and

:48:37.:48:41.

better. He got a lot better. Yen-Hsun Lu came in with good

:48:42.:48:45.

confidence from the challengers. He was on a winning streak on grass.

:48:46.:48:55.

His game translate to this surface well. The one thing we will look at

:48:56.:49:01.

is the serve. On the grass, he has struggled a little bit but against

:49:02.:49:10.

Andy, one of the great returns. I wonder how much John Millman will

:49:11.:49:14.

get on his serve to get the free points you need. We know Andy is

:49:15.:49:20.

serving well. John Millman will need to do that. I am not sure he serves

:49:21.:49:25.

well enough to trouble Andy consistently. As we can see he has

:49:26.:49:32.

been found. The tournament referee welcoming the players. Going through

:49:33.:49:37.

final preparations. Before they step out onto Centre Court, which will be

:49:38.:49:42.

a thrill for the crowd and for us. Here they come.

:49:43.:49:49.

Andy looking so relaxed. I think just puffing out his cheeks, John,

:49:50.:50:14.

because it is a big moment for him. It does not matter how many matches

:50:15.:50:19.

you have played, walking out on this court, so much history, some of the

:50:20.:50:24.

great champions playing on it, it is a special court. Jim and Mark. We

:50:25.:50:32.

were talking about Ivan Lendl. Jamie Delgado has played his part. He is a

:50:33.:50:43.

good coach and did well with Muller. That got Andy's respect. He turned

:50:44.:50:48.

him around and the maturity he brought to his game as well. And the

:50:49.:50:53.

tactical knowledge he has. I spoke to him in Paris. They had a

:50:54.:50:57.

fantastic clay-court season together. I hope the fact Ivan Lendl

:50:58.:51:04.

has come back, which I advocate because of the success they have had

:51:05.:51:09.

in the past, that people do not overlook how well Jamie Delgado did

:51:10.:51:13.

with Andy on the clay and because of that I feel it was the reason Andy

:51:14.:51:17.

had his best clay-court season. I will leave this match with you.

:51:18.:51:23.

Enjoy it. I hope the sunshine. I will not predict anything

:51:24.:51:28.

Marc Leishman to echo your thoughts about Jamie Delgado. We spoke a lot

:51:29.:51:38.

about him in the French Open. What a terrific coach he has been -- Mark.

:51:39.:51:45.

There was concern about whether Andy would bring somebody in in time.

:51:46.:51:53.

We have electronic review on the court. I have been asked to remind

:51:54.:51:58.

you there are microphones on the court, so be careful what you say.

:51:59.:52:03.

And do not do anything in anger that might damage the court.

:52:04.:52:15.

STUDIO: Andy winning the toss and he will serve first. I will give you

:52:16.:52:23.

details about tomorrow. We will have a people'sSunday and tickets will be

:52:24.:52:30.

available online from 3pm today. They are on sale right now. Details

:52:31.:52:33.

of where you can buy them can be found on the Wimbledon website. No

:52:34.:52:40.

tickets available on the day and so if you do not buy one today online,

:52:41.:52:45.

please do not turn up tomorrow, you will not be able to get in. Get on

:52:46.:52:55.

the Wimbledon website and we hope to see you here tomorrow for what

:52:56.:52:56.

promises to be a very special day. Henman Hill is very busy, as always

:52:57.:53:11.

on a Murray match and everyone thoroughly enjoying the sunshine.

:53:12.:53:16.

That is outside. Novak Djokovic on Court Number One and Andy Murray on

:53:17.:53:20.

Centre Court. The sun is shining, what more can you ask for?

:53:21.:53:28.

Querrey and gym. COMMENTATOR: I guess there were concerns as the

:53:29.:53:29.

roof went over. Worrying about the wisdom of the

:53:30.:53:42.

decision, but it is correct, it is an outdoor tournament. John Millman

:53:43.:53:49.

is the third ranked Australian art against the world number two. It

:53:50.:53:55.

will be a tough ask for the Australian, who has not even played

:53:56.:53:59.

on Court Number One here. He will be delighted the roof is open because

:54:00.:54:03.

if it is not going well, this is one of the most suffocating courts to

:54:04.:54:12.

play on. You do not get a chance before to have a hit on it to get a

:54:13.:54:17.

sense of the dimensions of the court. For John Millman, it is more

:54:18.:54:22.

like the weather down under. Ivan Lendl guided Murray to the US Open

:54:23.:54:31.

title in 2012, the Olympics, and here Wimbledon 2013. Some pretty

:54:32.:54:42.

nice stats, Jim. Very strong. Fantastic winning percentage at the

:54:43.:54:49.

majors. Even better at Wimbledon. 2016. Two major finals. Probably the

:54:50.:54:57.

reason Ivan Lendl is back in the chair, because they are finals

:54:58.:55:09.

rather than wins. I am with you. I would like to tip cap to Jamie

:55:10.:55:22.

Delgado. He is very good. Perhaps I can add that extra to get Murray

:55:23.:55:26.

over the line. Jamie in the black cap. They should switch hat. Ivan is

:55:27.:55:40.

more of a black hat kind of guy. John Millman, 27 years of age. Have

:55:41.:55:48.

you watched in much? I've seen him a bit. He lost to Bernard Tomic this

:55:49.:55:57.

year. I like his forehand. With an interesting short follow-through on

:55:58.:56:02.

his backhand wing. He is getting a lot out of his game. He does not

:56:03.:56:07.

possess the natural foot speed of his opponent. The raw athleticism.

:56:08.:56:14.

He is making a career of it after a rough go physically with the surgery

:56:15.:56:18.

on his shoulder. Confirmation of the third-round appearance in Australia.

:56:19.:56:25.

And a third-round here. Beating Muller down under. And Albert

:56:26.:56:31.

Montanans. Not a great love of the grass court,

:56:32.:56:45.

but still a solid win. Mark Draper on the left, who played, 150 in the

:56:46.:56:52.

world. And a quality player on the right, Jason, a trainer with the

:56:53.:57:03.

Australian Davis Cup team. He assists Lleyton Hewitt with the

:57:04.:57:04.

Australian Davis Cup team. A refreshing sight to see the roof

:57:05.:57:18.

open. Chatting about the time they met before in Brisbane 2013. Andy

:57:19.:57:24.

said he felt then that John Millman potentially was going to be a top 50

:57:25.:57:28.

player. Andy getting the better of him. Interesting, and he never lost

:57:29.:57:37.

to an Australian on tour in Grand Slams, or in Davis Cup. He has lost

:57:38.:57:42.

a couple in challenge is a long time ago which makes his record 20-2 but

:57:43.:57:50.

17 and zero against Australians for Murray. The American umpire in the

:57:51.:57:58.

chair. Americans everywhere. What is going on? Apologies!

:57:59.:58:04.

John Millman said last year Wimbledon was the first time he

:58:05.:58:11.

managed to crack the top 100. He was close in 2013 in the 120s at that

:58:12.:58:16.

juncture before the shoulder problem that afflicted him. That run at

:58:17.:58:26.

Wimbledon also was his best ever win where he took care of Tommy Robredo.

:58:27.:58:35.

He has lost eight. Losing 32 top-10 players. John Millman is sitting in

:58:36.:58:42.

his chair, looking around, soaking up the atmosphere, as Murray

:58:43.:58:48.

finishes his warm up. Just having a peak around. It must be satisfying

:58:49.:58:56.

for him, 27 years of age to make it here to Wimbledon Centre Court.

:58:57.:59:07.

Murray is going to serve first. John Millman will have a pressure free

:59:08.:59:13.

game to get into this contest. The umpire is on the telephone. Not sure

:59:14.:59:17.

who he is trying to reach. Normally you would see players standing up at

:59:18.:59:25.

this point, getting ready to play. Andy will be looking to defend his

:59:26.:59:31.

Olympic gold medal soon. He won it here on this Court in 2012. John

:59:32.:59:40.

Millman, in the middle of his match against Benoit Paire, because of

:59:41.:59:44.

Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic's withdrawal from the Australian Open

:59:45.:59:50.

and his appeal about Davis Cup, he is also going to Rio.

:59:51.:00:00.

is in action and going well against Andrey Kuznetsov.

:00:01.:01:16.

What a lovely hold from Murray at the start of this third round match,

:01:17.:02:19.

full of confidence. Arguably, that is going to be one of the big

:02:20.:02:23.

differences. It will be fascinating to see how Millman tries to protect

:02:24.:02:27.

his serve. The thing I've noticed with the Australian, when he plays,

:02:28.:02:32.

he tends to serve wide on the deuce side. With Andy's ability to direct

:02:33.:02:37.

his returns, he could be hitting a lot of back hands. The backhand

:02:38.:02:41.

doesn't have as much pace. These are from the grass this year. The

:02:42.:02:47.

Australian has found a bit of pace in the tournaments that he's played

:02:48.:02:49.

in. You saw his forehand travels quicker

:02:50.:03:11.

on average than his backhand. Already in the match we've seen him

:03:12.:03:16.

step around his forehand to hit the two-hander out here.

:03:17.:03:41.

He actually got Millman in Brisbane with the lob. When he came in, Andy

:03:42.:03:48.

seemed toe find the space behind him.

:03:49.:04:06.

Beautiful from Murray. His two handed backhand down-the-line from

:04:07.:04:16.

Murray is a critical shot in this match up. Millman, if you open him

:04:17.:04:20.

up to the backhand side, he's vulnerable to the attack on the

:04:21.:04:22.

two-hander. Exactly the start Murray wanted. A

:04:23.:05:43.

nod from Jamie Delgado. Impassive as ever, Ivan Lendl.

:05:44.:05:50.

Already the task ahead of Millman today is pretty evident to

:05:51.:05:54.

everybody. A lot of us wondering with Lendl

:05:55.:06:36.

back in the Murray camp, will we see the resumption of the aggression on

:06:37.:06:43.

the forehand side that we saw when he was previously in the coach's

:06:44.:06:50.

box. Murray's forehand averaging three to fourmph more under this

:06:51.:06:51.

man's guidance. It's a bit early in this tournament

:06:52.:07:14.

to say whether it's come back. The numbers don't really support it. He

:07:15.:07:18.

hasn't needed to be that aggressive in the opening two rounds.

:07:19.:07:24.

You would think that would be a part of the re-approach from Ivan.

:07:25.:07:30.

It's more about the mind set than actually the numbers.

:07:31.:07:52.

There's that backhand down-the-line. Skipping off the grass at an awkward

:07:53.:08:00.

height for Millman. Here's an interesting piece of the puzzle with

:08:01.:08:06.

Ivan Lendl. I've talked to him about his time with Andy and said how did

:08:07.:08:10.

you prepare him in tournaments. He said, well, it all depends on his

:08:11.:08:14.

draw. If he has a challenging draw in front of him, I have to prepare

:08:15.:08:19.

for the next match. If he has someone let's say, take us through

:08:20.:08:24.

this... This is the first-serve placement. You can see in Stuttgart

:08:25.:08:29.

where he played, he lost to Del Potro in that tournament. That's two

:08:30.:08:33.

foot the green lines. Millman has decent pace on the first serve, but

:08:34.:08:37.

the accuracy there, if you keep your eyes on there, is not there. If we

:08:38.:08:44.

look at Andy's accuracy on serve, we've seen the three aces today. You

:08:45.:08:49.

can see how that rises on the deuce side to 70% and up to 67% for Murray

:08:50.:08:55.

as well. That is a lot of baseline that Millman has to protect to get

:08:56.:09:05.

the ball back into play. His precision has grown over the years

:09:06.:09:10.

for Andy Murray. He's grown into it as his game has evolved.

:09:11.:09:29.

Back to how Lendl has prepared Andy in the past and I suspect he's doing

:09:30.:09:55.

during this tournament. He looks at the big problems in the draw for

:09:56.:09:59.

Andy and starts prepping him early. With the draw like he's had so far,

:10:00.:10:03.

he probably has been looking ahead towards Nick Kyrgios for a

:10:04.:10:08.

fourth-round match there. Saying if Kyrgios - what do we need to do.

:10:09.:10:15.

What shots do we need to be ready to play against Nick Kyrgios? #

:10:16.:10:21.

You would think if the number one seed, Novak, were to lose today,

:10:22.:10:46.

that would also change the way that Ivan and Jamie would prepare Andy.

:10:47.:11:11.

Murray with a look up to the umpire to get confirmation.

:11:12.:11:22.

Stars on and off the court in the royal batch. Sir Bobby Charlton here

:11:23.:11:27.

today -- Royal Box. A bit of confidence for Millman that

:11:28.:12:04.

he hangs onto his serve here. He warmed up for Wimbledon by

:12:05.:12:27.

winning his fifth queen's title, more than anybody else has managed

:12:28.:12:28.

to achieve. His legendary status as the greatest

:12:29.:12:40.

British male player in the open era continues to grow.

:12:41.:13:08.

The second serve of Murray has really improved this season. He's

:13:09.:13:17.

really going for it more. He's added 9mph on average of speed

:13:18.:13:18.

to that shot this year. When he won here in 2013, his

:13:19.:13:39.

average second wasle 3mph. -- was 87mph. That's a big jump.

:13:40.:14:13.

Terrific running from Millman. Great application and discipline to the

:14:14.:14:22.

cause from the Australian. Just acting as a shock absorber out

:14:23.:14:24.

there. That's really his only hope here to

:14:25.:14:36.

make as many as possible and hope Murray misses.

:14:37.:15:24.

Looking at the ball to see if there's white powder on it, but

:15:25.:15:27.

there isn't. Trying to inject a fair bit of pace

:15:28.:15:37.

into that 91mph forehand from Murray. Can you see how much higher

:15:38.:15:40.

than that on average it was. Murray, who's been broken just the

:15:41.:16:51.

once in the tournament, facing another break point now.

:16:52.:17:32.

He's absolutely elated with that. He gets the break back. We're on serve.

:17:33.:17:43.

SUE BARKER: Andy not happy with that. Back on serve on Centre Court.

:17:44.:17:49.

We'll be right back there in a moment. Over on Court No 1, this big

:17:50.:17:56.

story continues. Novak Djokovic it's 3-3 in the fourth set. He's trailing

:17:57.:18:02.

two sets to one to Sam Querrey. He's facing break points in almost every

:18:03.:18:05.

service game. He's not looking himself. He's shouting at his box,

:18:06.:18:09.

talking to the crowd. He looks out of sorts somehow. He's fighting hard

:18:10.:18:14.

and trying to stay with it. It's very much advantage Sam Querrey at

:18:15.:18:16.

the moment. That match live on BBC Two.

:18:17.:18:24.

Querry's just gone 4-3 up. Here though, we're back on centre.

:18:25.:18:43.

COMMENTATOR: Breaks exchanged already. Looking at Millman's

:18:44.:18:48.

tournaments coming in here, he lost to Juan Martin Del Potro in the

:18:49.:18:55.

second round. A good win against Lucas Pouille at Stuttgart. Lost at

:18:56.:19:03.

queens. Lost to Steve Johnson in Nottingham. In three losses he

:19:04.:19:06.

didn't create one break point opportunity in those matches.

:19:07.:19:09.

Already today he's got a break against Murray.

:19:10.:19:27.

He's going to need to break quite a lot just to stay with Murray.

:19:28.:19:32.

Millman's serve is going to be under siege.

:19:33.:19:57.

There's that follow through you were talking about. A little bunt, a

:19:58.:20:03.

little abbreviation. Murray's pulled back on the throttle

:20:04.:20:45.

this game. That was a little too cavalier by his standards, the last

:20:46.:20:48.

one. You see how difficult it is for

:20:49.:20:58.

Millman to make headway, when he goes into that mode.

:20:59.:21:12.

Utterly brilliant. There is no such thing as a lost cause.

:21:13.:21:30.

Millman may have been hitting ground strokes harder than Murray, but

:21:31.:21:36.

Murray has a decided advantage on serve speed. Millman's first serve

:21:37.:21:42.

doesn't have enough on it. It's almost a gimme for Murray to get the

:21:43.:21:44.

ball back in play. Millman's only gotten one free point

:21:45.:21:54.

off his serve. It's a suffocating feeling for an

:21:55.:22:12.

opponent. He'll be defiant out here, Millman.

:22:13.:22:49.

If there is a way, he'll try to find it.

:22:50.:24:14.

Awesome. What a wonderful tennis rally. Murray coming out on top.

:24:15.:24:21.

He's well on top now in this opening set.

:24:22.:24:33.

This really is such a nice opponent, break of serve notwithstanding that

:24:34.:24:41.

Murray has suffered in this match, it's batting practice for him.

:24:42.:24:45.

Millman is hitting the ball right in the sweet spot, waist level, perfect

:24:46.:24:50.

for him to play as much or as little offence as he wants to. Murray is in

:24:51.:24:58.

complete control today. I'm going to call it Murray Mound today, because

:24:59.:25:03.

Tim's not next to me. They're having a lovely time right now. Let's hope

:25:04.:25:10.

it stays that way. What a really easy move into the second week for

:25:11.:25:14.

Murray. This draw has really provided that for him so far. Big

:25:15.:25:18.

difference to the French Open as well. He had those two brutal

:25:19.:25:25.

five-setters. I think two points away from losing in fact. That was

:25:26.:25:31.

before the tournament basically even started. His wife Kim.

:25:32.:25:51.

Just given him a nothing ball with the slice, no pace to work on for

:25:52.:26:16.

Millman. The Australian is going to struggle with that. Your backhand,

:26:17.:26:22.

Nick talked about it in his autobiography saying that he felt as

:26:23.:26:26.

though a few people were saying to change it. He left it.

:26:27.:26:34.

Where would you sit with someone like Millman. Is it a case for

:26:35.:26:39.

watching it long enough to see whether it works or not? When it

:26:40.:26:43.

comes to technique. At 27 years of age to try and change it now would

:26:44.:26:47.

be really challenging. We're getting a challenge here.

:26:48.:26:54.

Back in our time, you could get away with a hole in your game. It wasn't

:26:55.:27:01.

as fast as today. Nick told me it doesn't matter how

:27:02.:27:06.

bad your backhand is, we can run around and hit forehands. There was

:27:07.:27:11.

time to do that. It worked OK. But in this era, if

:27:12.:27:18.

you're not balanced, if you have a big, glaring weakness, your chances

:27:19.:27:22.

of winning anything significant are severely diminished. You have to

:27:23.:27:28.

have such a massive weapon, like an Isner serve, to really overcome

:27:29.:27:29.

that. Federer's backhand is probably the

:27:30.:27:51.

most vulnerable of all the top players' shots. But he's done just

:27:52.:27:56.

fine, 17 majors, I'd say more than just fine.

:27:57.:28:02.

On the right of your picture Amanda Holden. Mary Berry on the left.

:28:03.:28:10.

You probably have one of her recipe books, Jim? Without a doubt.

:28:11.:28:18.

Have you opened it? It's collecting dust with the others.

:28:19.:28:23.

Have you seen the take-out options in New York? They're immense.

:28:24.:29:12.

Getting a lot more variety coming at him at the moment with the slice

:29:13.:29:17.

back hands and the driven forehands. Simply done. Very efficient from

:29:18.:29:54.

Murray, so far. The only thing he seems worried about right now is

:29:55.:29:57.

what is above. It has gone dark again.

:29:58.:30:25.

We have not heard much from Andy in the Championships.

:30:26.:30:41.

Muzza is the nickname, right? Is it fair to say Ivan Lendl puts the

:30:42.:30:47.

Muzza on the Muzza? -- muzzle.

:30:48.:31:08.

He has taken it quite close to the line with his ground strokes in the

:31:09.:31:12.

opening set, which is surprising. He does not feel there is a need to,

:31:13.:31:18.

but as you said, perhaps with one eye on tougher battles to come. That

:31:19.:31:23.

is what I would ascribe it to. If this were the final I think Andy

:31:24.:31:30.

would play more conservative shots. But I think he has an eye on the

:31:31.:31:35.

bigger prize. I know that is the way Ivan has operated in the past and I

:31:36.:31:39.

would be shocked if he is not doing it with Andy now.

:31:40.:31:44.

It is a good lesson to other players, if you are in a comfortable

:31:45.:31:50.

match and there is something you are working on, serve and volley, sliced

:31:51.:31:57.

backhand. It is tough to replicate Matchplay in practice. There is only

:31:58.:31:59.

one way to get something comfortable in a game that you can use when you

:32:00.:32:06.

need it and that is to do it in matches where you are in the lead,

:32:07.:32:07.

you have a safety net. 5-3 up, even if he dropped his

:32:08.:32:21.

serve, basically a flip of the coin, he is going to break serve.

:32:22.:32:28.

Frustrated with his shot selection there.

:32:29.:32:44.

Should we check that ball for cuts? ! What a carver. Three in the first

:32:45.:33:07.

couple of service games, aces. A fourth now. A couple more set

:33:08.:33:09.

points. Millman chases down everything he

:33:10.:33:26.

possibly can but Murray comes away with the opening set. Relatively

:33:27.:33:33.

comfortable in the end. SUE BARKER: Plenty of fans delighted Andy Murray

:33:34.:33:37.

has taken the opening set. On Court Number One, all sorts of problems

:33:38.:33:43.

for Novak Djokovic. A short time ago he was serving for the fourth set,

:33:44.:33:48.

but dropped his serve. He is not looking himself. Whether it is

:33:49.:33:53.

illness, injury, we do not know. He is talking to the box, talking to

:33:54.:33:58.

the crowd. Sam Querrey is playing well but not the usual Djokovic

:33:59.:34:03.

performance. 5-5 in the fourth set. That is on BBC Two. The world number

:34:04.:34:09.

one fighting to stay in this tournament.

:34:10.:34:09.

Back we go to Centre Court. Kim, as ever, encouraging her man.

:34:10.:34:19.

Some numbers to digester. Murray would like to do better on

:34:20.:34:35.

his second serve but can hardly do any better when Millman hits a

:34:36.:34:39.

second serve. Breaking Millman twice. A comfortable set, in the

:34:40.:34:53.

end. A dominant set. The scoreboard of Novak and Sam Querrey is on

:34:54.:34:57.

Centre Court right now, as Andy Murray changes his shirt. He is

:34:58.:35:04.

aware it is 5-5. Djokovic could be on the verge of going out in the

:35:05.:35:11.

next ten minutes. David Beckham. He is with his mother, Sandra. Billie

:35:12.:35:14.

Jean King, of course, in front of him. Margaret Court.

:35:15.:35:50.

You can see Andy Murray looking up and out of Centre Court right now.

:35:51.:35:54.

There is forecast of drizzle over the next hour. It has been

:35:55.:36:03.

unnervingly accurate, unfortunately, the weather forecast around

:36:04.:36:06.

Wimbledon these championships. It would appear it is correct again.

:36:07.:36:23.

The umpire has decided it is too wet. He was looking for confirmation

:36:24.:36:34.

down this end of the court. Well, the pictures tell you the story, I

:36:35.:36:37.

am afraid. As ever, swiftly and efficiently

:36:38.:37:00.

done. Trying to keep as much rain off the surface as possible. I would

:37:01.:37:05.

imagine given the fact it is raining, the decision to close the

:37:06.:37:10.

roof is probably going to be made swiftly? You would think so. It will

:37:11.:37:21.

give a chance for Murray and Millman to go into the locker room and

:37:22.:37:26.

convene with coaching staff, most likely. And also to look at the

:37:27.:37:32.

scoreboard. Sam Querrey has held serve. Djokovic will have to use it

:37:33.:37:36.

during the rain delay most likely and think about serving to stay in

:37:37.:37:39.

the Championships and keep his Grand Slam winning streak alive. This is

:37:40.:37:50.

where it started in glorious sunshine. Murray electing to serve

:37:51.:37:59.

and getting off to a flyer. Up 3-0, he was, and hitting superbly.

:38:00.:38:08.

Millman fought back. He does what he is capable of doing, but there is a

:38:09.:38:13.

talent gap between the two that will be exceptionally difficult for

:38:14.:38:16.

Millman to bridge. He has taken Roger Federer to three before and

:38:17.:38:24.

took Murray to three. But a greater variety from Andy. The opening set

:38:25.:38:30.

under his belt in just under 40 minutes. The coaches wondering

:38:31.:38:34.

whether to make the trip back to the locker room. It seems Ivan is happy

:38:35.:38:45.

to perch. On top of John McEnroe's head is where he would like to be!

:38:46.:38:51.

John McEnroe is right underneath him in the commentary box. Absolutely

:38:52.:38:57.

right. There is John, leaning forward in the picture. These are

:38:58.:39:00.

his two homes. He has a couple of properties here. He has Chris to the

:39:01.:39:09.

right. One of the big commentary stars in the United States, who does

:39:10.:39:15.

football and other things. Ivan is on top of John, that is where he

:39:16.:39:25.

likes to be. Jamie Delgado will be working his sources for statistical

:39:26.:39:28.

updates to figure out if there are any changes they need to make, if

:39:29.:39:35.

they do get a chance to visit and. His father in the back of the

:39:36.:39:41.

picture. A former Davis Cup player in the blue top. Andrew Richardson.

:39:42.:39:48.

A tall left-hander. Might have made third-round here one year, as well.

:39:49.:39:59.

The jacket and umbrella has been a requirement over the opening six

:40:00.:40:06.

days. Somebody has managed to hand Kim and All-England Club umbrella.

:40:07.:40:15.

Andy's agent is in the back of the picture. The third man along, hidden

:40:16.:40:23.

by the umbrella. Also an Italian who used to play a bit of tennis and he

:40:24.:40:26.

helps on the commercial side. SUE BARKER: The rain is falling all

:40:27.:40:47.

around and the decision to keep the roof open has cost on Centre Court.

:40:48.:40:52.

No decision on whether they will close it. There are showers but it

:40:53.:40:56.

looks clear most of the day and so I think they will try to keep it as an

:40:57.:41:00.

outdoor tournament and only close it if there is a serious threat of

:41:01.:41:06.

rain. I hope the clouds have gone away. They probably brought this

:41:07.:41:09.

amount of rain. They are not covering the courts outside. They

:41:10.:41:16.

have covered on number one court, which is the match we will bring you

:41:17.:41:20.

before returning live to Centre Court. It is the big story that has

:41:21.:41:24.

been brewing, late last night and today. Novak Djokovic against Sam

:41:25.:41:29.

Querrey, who had taken the first two set will stop Djokovic came back

:41:30.:41:35.

fighting back, taking the third set 6-3. We can join it in the fourth.

:41:36.:41:48.

4-4. The commentators Tim Henman and Andrew Castle.

:41:49.:41:53.

It would be a major surprise if this man were to go out at the top of the

:41:54.:41:59.

draw. Fancy getting to Wimbledon only

:42:00.:42:29.

winning two completed matches, both on clay!

:42:30.:42:33.

Chances for Djokovic to breakthrough deep in this fourth set.

:42:34.:42:54.

UMPIRE: Mr Querrey is challenging the ball. If it is long, it did not

:42:55.:42:58.

miss by much. Oh. This is a ninth break point in this

:42:59.:43:32.

set chrome for Djokovic. -- in this set. That is the 30th ace of the

:43:33.:43:40.

match for Querrey. He still needs a few more.

:43:41.:44:00.

It is quite hard to be philosophical when those things go past all the

:44:01.:44:04.

time. Querrey has to dominate with his

:44:05.:45:02.

first couple of strikes in the rally. If it goes more than five

:45:03.:45:07.

shots, Djokovic starting to exploit the movement.

:45:08.:45:51.

And that is it. The breakthrough that may mean 2-2. Djokovic still to

:45:52.:46:01.

serve for it but finally, a break of serve. Sam could not serve his way

:46:02.:46:03.

out of that one. To say it had been on the cards

:46:04.:46:18.

would be an understatement. Djokovic had created so many opportunities.

:46:19.:46:25.

When you see the aces fly past you, it is difficult not to get

:46:26.:46:28.

frustrated and you have to maintain the belief you will eventually get

:46:29.:46:35.

one. 70 break point. He finally gets another break of serve to come out

:46:36.:46:40.

to serve for the fourth set and get it back on level terms. The

:46:41.:46:44.

parallels with the match against Kevin Anderson last year, where he

:46:45.:46:50.

lost the first two and then winning, they are impossible to ignore.

:46:51.:47:03.

Djokovic steels himself. To serve to make it 2-2 here. Sunshine on Court

:47:04.:47:06.

Number One. A sunnier disposition for Djokovic,

:47:07.:47:24.

at the moment. He still needs to hold this.

:47:25.:47:39.

Second service. He should have challenged. In the commentary box we

:47:40.:47:44.

have a monitor and it was on the outside edge of the line.

:47:45.:47:46.

Concentration again? He has not challenged. Twice in a

:47:47.:48:35.

row and Tim has given our secret away. We know that ball was in. Two

:48:36.:48:44.

in a row, serving for the set. Not sharp between the ears today.

:48:45.:48:59.

Certainly at this stage of the match, if there was even the

:49:00.:49:04.

slightest element of doubt, you would ask the question. If he had

:49:05.:49:07.

any challenges left. Ah. Oh, he has found it. Of course, he

:49:08.:49:27.

did not have the challenges left. It is we who are not sharp in the head.

:49:28.:49:34.

He was fine. Sam Querrey, sharp on the forehand, down the line. --

:49:35.:49:36.

backhand. It is not as if Querrey has been

:49:37.:50:06.

brilliant on the break point, with three of 14 for the match.

:50:07.:50:20.

He has missed. Can you believe that? Challenges unavailable when they

:50:21.:50:30.

would have helped. And that volley goes pretty much

:50:31.:50:37.

anywhere over the net. A challenging stare up to his team.

:50:38.:51:35.

Djokovic is not the only one he needs volleying practice.

:51:36.:52:49.

SUE BARKER: And that is when the rain came down and Djokovic signal

:52:50.:54:42.

to Boris Becker, come round, I need to talk to you. While the rain

:54:43.:54:47.

delays on, no doubt Boris will try to do his best to lift his man to

:54:48.:54:51.

try to find a way. He has to come out to serve to stay in the match.

:54:52.:54:56.

What a difficult situation, coming out cold to save your title hopes

:54:57.:54:59.

that Wimbledon. This is the scene. We just had

:55:00.:55:03.

sunshine and the players came back onto court and Andy Murray played a

:55:04.:55:09.

couple more points on Centre Court but then the rain came out and it

:55:10.:55:14.

has fallen heavily but as is typical in the summer, we have had the rain,

:55:15.:55:18.

now we have the sunshine. It looks as though we will have a clear

:55:19.:55:22.

spell, quite a long clear spell this evening. We are still hoping to have

:55:23.:55:26.

plenty of tennis as the tournament tries to play catch up after one of

:55:27.:55:31.

the worst weeks of whether we have had at Wimbledon. There is no live

:55:32.:55:37.

play to bring you at the moment, although everybody is keeping up

:55:38.:55:40.

their spirits on Henman Hill. It never seems to dampen their spirits,

:55:41.:55:44.

no matter how much rain falls on them. We will bring you more tennis

:55:45.:55:48.

in a moment. First, let's look back to some results completed in the

:55:49.:56:00.

sunshine earlier. Mahut defeated his doubles partner today. Going through

:56:01.:56:10.

in four sets stop he is very good on a grass court, Mahut. Remember the

:56:11.:56:15.

match against John Isner. He will face Djokovic or Sam Querrey.

:56:16.:56:23.

And Marin Cilic, the number nine seed from Croatia, straight sets

:56:24.:56:28.

against Lukas Lacko. He is through to face Kei Nishikori.

:56:29.:56:50.

Another straight sets win. Defeating Andrey Kuznetsov of Russia. Marin

:56:51.:56:57.

Cilic against Kei Nishikori, what a nice match that will be.

:56:58.:57:03.

This is a second-round match completed on middle Saturday. The

:57:04.:57:12.

talented teenager from Germany, seeded 24 at the Championships has

:57:13.:57:16.

put out Mikhail Youzhny. It was held over from last night at 2-2. A

:57:17.:57:23.

couple of breaks of serve and he is through, 6-2, and will take on Tomas

:57:24.:57:28.

Berdych in row three tomorrow. On people'sSunday.

:57:29.:57:36.

Angelique Kerber is through. The number for seed. They met in the

:57:37.:57:44.

first round last year and Angelique Kerber won zero and zero but much

:57:45.:57:46.

closer today. Confirmation that is the result and

:57:47.:57:59.

Angelique Kerber is through and the Australian Open champion will face

:58:00.:58:05.

the Japanese player who came through in straight sets today.

:58:06.:58:10.

She really works hard and she has found a way through. Doi against

:58:11.:58:29.

Angelique Kerber next. And Simona Halep, the number five seed, she

:58:30.:58:35.

defeated Bertens. She went through to the semifinal of the French Open.

:58:36.:58:50.

Simona Halep is through. This weather is so confusing. One minute

:58:51.:58:58.

we are looking at dark clouds, and now we are looking at blue skies. It

:58:59.:59:02.

has been one of those days but hopefully we will have tennis. We

:59:03.:59:06.

will definitely have tennis because the news is they are closing the

:59:07.:59:10.

roof. We have had to disruptions in the Andy Murray match and the

:59:11.:59:15.

decision has been made to close the roof, which means, regardless of the

:59:16.:59:19.

weather, we will have tennis for you very soon. But one of the big

:59:20.:59:28.

stories of the Championships in the first three days was a man who came

:59:29.:59:30.

through prequalifying. He came through qualifying and beat a player

:59:31.:59:34.

ranked 54 in the world. This is a man called Marcus Willis. We all

:59:35.:59:37.

know him now. He captured our hearts, ranked number 772 and he

:59:38.:59:44.

went on to play Roger Federer on Centre Court. We came to talk to

:59:45.:59:48.

Andrew Castle and myself, but let's remind you of his incredible story.

:59:49.:59:53.

I was a bit of a loser. I was overweight. He was a loveable rogue,

:59:54.:00:00.

not as professional as he could have been. Iing looked in the mirror and

:00:01.:00:07.

thought, I could be better than this. Shoes off if you love Willis.

:00:08.:00:15.

I think it's a cool story. You have to pinch yourself. Play the game

:00:16.:00:22.

Willis. Roger versus Marcus. David versus Goliath. To share a court

:00:23.:00:30.

with Roger Federer, what a joy. Very good from Federer. A little bit of

:00:31.:00:34.

heartbreak at the moment. I hope the best for him. I wish he

:00:35.:01:00.

could rise his level, jump in the rankings and enjoy himself even

:01:01.:01:04.

more. It was a pleasure to play against him. I'm disappointed to

:01:05.:01:09.

lose, I went out there to win. I can hold my head high. I have had a

:01:10.:01:13.

fantastic few weeks. I want more experiences like this. And here he

:01:14.:01:19.

is in the studio, alongside Andrew Castle alongside AndrewCastle. How

:01:20.:01:23.

does it feel today looking back on the experience of yesterday?

:01:24.:01:29.

Amazing. I've seen some clips and I'm really quite proud of myself

:01:30.:01:33.

actually. It was a wonderful match. What was the best moment for you?

:01:34.:01:38.

The start of the match I wasn't that nervous. I had a lot of 30 alls and

:01:39.:01:46.

hit a few good points. I was quite unlucky to lose 6-0, but the whole

:01:47.:01:50.

match, it was a good match. I played good tennis. I can play better, but

:01:51.:01:55.

for my first, for that occasion I'm quite happy with the way it went. We

:01:56.:01:59.

are going to take you through some of the match. First of all the walk

:02:00.:02:06.

out. Roger let you walk out. What did you feel? I heard the cheers and

:02:07.:02:13.

thought, it was amazing. I didn't realise I would get a reexemption

:02:14.:02:16.

like that. CHEERING. Your face when you

:02:17.:02:20.

realised it, you can't stop laughing. You were coming out like a

:02:21.:02:27.

rock star, Marcus. It was so surreal. Just brilliant. Did Roger

:02:28.:02:32.

say, do you want to go first? Or did he hang back? He just hung back. R

:02:33.:02:37.

did he hang back? He just hung back. I waited for him - go on, after you,

:02:38.:02:40.

you're used to this. He made the whole experience amazing for me. You

:02:41.:02:44.

actually met him before the match, you went up and introduced yourself?

:02:45.:02:49.

Yeah, my girlfriend wanted to meet him, she's a fan of Roger Federer,

:02:50.:02:53.

so I thought, go for it. I shook his hand. Was this in the restaurant?

:02:54.:02:58.

Yes, in the restaurant up stairs. He was really nice. What did you do? I

:02:59.:03:06.

introduced myself. He has never met me before. Before. He doesn't play

:03:07.:03:10.

on the Futures and the Challenge. It was a nice moment. What about the

:03:11.:03:15.

match? You pulled off some amazing shots, so many amazing shots. And

:03:16.:03:20.

you gave your family and your fans, your loyal fans who queued for two

:03:21.:03:25.

days, so much to cheer about. I tried to play my best tennis. That's

:03:26.:03:31.

the way I play. Not flashy as such, but I like my drop volley, my loves.

:03:32.:03:35.

I'm handy on the ball. That's the way I play. We did hit some good

:03:36.:03:41.

shots. We've picked out a few for you to enjoy. You've got lovely

:03:42.:03:45.

hands at the net, a great feel. You love that drop volley don't you? I

:03:46.:03:51.

played badminton before I played tennis, so hand skills come

:03:52.:03:55.

naturally to me. Was your mum a badminton coach? No, she played for

:03:56.:04:01.

county. I have never beaten her actually. You've never beaten her at

:04:02.:04:07.

badminton? No. You've won seven matches but it wasn't to be an

:04:08.:04:11.

eight. We got slightly concerned in the commentary box after half an

:04:12.:04:20.

hour. 5-0, 6-0, there are easier playerses to play than Roger

:04:21.:04:25.

Federer. What is he like? A heavy forehand, so, so accurate. Looks

:04:26.:04:30.

like the ball will be wide but it drops. It was unplayable. And the

:04:31.:04:36.

backhand slice as well? Backhand variation, good depth, so he is hard

:04:37.:04:40.

to attack. I got a foothold in the match. Even though it was 6-0, you

:04:41.:04:48.

felt like it was a good game. We've picked out a few for you to enjoy.

:04:49.:04:54.

Stpiems when you are out there it goes by this a blur. Do you remember

:04:55.:05:00.

this one? Almost. I ended up OW Almost. I ended up on my bum

:05:01.:05:02.

actually. # You recovered well. Here goes

:05:03.:05:08.

slip. And you owned him on this For one point. Where would that rate the

:05:09.:05:14.

best points you have ever played? It is up there. I do like my loves.

:05:15.:05:19.

That's probably my first serve of the match. You were rushing a bit.

:05:20.:05:25.

The ball wasn't going high enough. No, it was tough. It was my first

:05:26.:05:30.

time there and I wanted to get serving. Tim Henman said go on

:05:31.:05:36.

Centre Court and get a feel for it. But in the warm-up you struckled

:05:37.:05:41.

with the serve didn't you? I did. My body's been hurting. I'm stiff as a

:05:42.:05:46.

board this morning. Adrenaline got me through yesterday. I was

:05:47.:05:48.

struggling. In the Baranques match... You've

:05:49.:06:04.

really got better and better as the match was going. Did you enjoy that

:06:05.:06:08.

Centre Court experience? It was amazing. Did you forget where you

:06:09.:06:12.

were? I was trying to win points. He made it difficult. After the points,

:06:13.:06:17.

yeah, I was pumped up. I was playing good tennis. Do you want to have

:06:18.:06:21.

another go? I was getting into the match. The score line was getting

:06:22.:06:26.

closer and also the rallies were getting longer. It was good. I was

:06:27.:06:30.

feeling my way into it. He's just better than me. Me. He is just a

:06:31.:06:34.

very good player. That's why he won. What does he say to you up here at

:06:35.:06:40.

the net? Keep going, fantastic, stick at it. He said some really

:06:41.:06:46.

nice things. Top 50 level, and I appreciate that. And you got a bit

:06:47.:06:53.

emotional. Yeah. It is a long journey. This one tournament, and

:06:54.:06:59.

the headlines. When did your world turn upside down? Prequalified and

:07:00.:07:07.

nothing much Came out there. I beat my first top 100 scalp. Each match,

:07:08.:07:12.

and when I qualified I got a bit of news. After the Baranques match it's

:07:13.:07:20.

been manic. My life has changed. More Twitter followers. A few more

:07:21.:07:26.

followers. Any famous people? Miranda Hart and Andy Murray have

:07:27.:07:31.

been tweeting me. And And Roger Federer. He said, what a fun match

:07:32.:07:38.

to be a part of. Thanks Will 90 for the moment. Energy on Centre Court

:07:39.:07:47.

was like like I think in. Will Bomb is on fire. It is all about support

:07:48.:07:54.

as well. We've seen you with Jen, your girlfriend. Your friends and

:07:55.:07:57.

family were there. We've put this together. I think you will probably

:07:58.:08:01.

get emotional, because they were living every point with you as well.

:08:02.:08:05.

And there is your mum. How proud has she been? My whole family are

:08:06.:08:10.

buzzing, and my friends. They've been there the whole time. I'm glad

:08:11.:08:15.

I could do this for them. They all seemed to have this attitude of

:08:16.:08:17.

going out there and enjoying the moment. This is what we've embraced

:08:18.:08:23.

from your experience. This is such a wonderful story for sport about...

:08:24.:08:28.

Ah. After everything you've put them through Marcus, this was a great

:08:29.:08:33.

moment. To see their son play on Centre Court is quite something. And

:08:34.:08:37.

Jennifer is the best thing that ever happened to you, right? Yes. Tell

:08:38.:08:42.

the camera. Jennifer, you are the best thing that ever happened to me.

:08:43.:08:48.

And will you marry me? Not yet, I'm playing it cool, keeping you on your

:08:49.:08:52.

toes. You said you've trained so hard. Andrew has just been feeling

:08:53.:08:57.

the by accept. So hard. Andrew has just been feeling the by accept. --

:08:58.:09:04.

bicep. He is stiff today and my hand was stuck between the forearm and

:09:05.:09:09.

the bicep. You've been training. What do you want to take from this

:09:10.:09:13.

going forward? I'm going to be dropped down on Planet Earth after

:09:14.:09:18.

this. This. I've got to keep training the way I've been train.

:09:19.:09:20.

I'm playing well but I need to return better. I need to get 10%

:09:21.:09:26.

quicker, need to get stronger. There are things to improve. That's

:09:27.:09:31.

exciting for me. Do you know where your rank will be after this? It is

:09:32.:09:38.

in the 4s somewhere. I was going to be around 2000 in the world, so it

:09:39.:09:42.

is a great start. But I'm still a million miles from where I want to

:09:43.:09:47.

be. What was Matt Smith done for you, your coach, that everybody else

:09:48.:09:53.

has not. You made a pledge to him. How has he been able to do what

:09:54.:09:56.

others haven't? You were trouble when you were a teenager weren't

:09:57.:10:02.

you? I was. I trained hard with Victor. I lost my way between 19 and

:10:03.:10:12.

23. Didn't work enough. I didn't really want it, looking back. Smithy

:10:13.:10:16.

is terrifying. Is he? I've got a lot of respect for him. When he shouts

:10:17.:10:21.

at you, you listen. He was a very good player himself. Had double

:10:22.:10:29.

wrist surgery and quit young. He was are a fantastic player. Trained in

:10:30.:10:36.

Spain. His drill are brutal. I have to pretend I'm not tired after

:10:37.:10:40.

that.ive got to bluff my opponent. It is brutal. Friday morning getting

:10:41.:10:48.

up on court I couldn't walk. Walk. It is worth it. It has proved to you

:10:49.:10:53.

that the hard work will pay off. More importantly, have you picked up

:10:54.:10:57.

your prize money yet? I did just now. How did that feel? Different to

:10:58.:11:03.

a Tunisia F1. I hope you put it somewhere safe. It gets transferred,

:11:04.:11:09.

so I can't spend it too quickly. Did you go out with your mates last

:11:10.:11:14.

night? No, after all the media, I got back and got into bed at half 1.

:11:15.:11:21.

Up at 8. Shattered. It will have a beer at some point but not yet. It's

:11:22.:11:27.

been a magical story, we thoroughly enjoyed going on the journey with

:11:28.:11:30.

you. We wish you well and all the best going up the rankings. Thank

:11:31.:11:34.

you very much. He said he was going back to Planet Earth, and that

:11:35.:11:37.

evening he headeded into the Warwick boat club to play in the Coventry

:11:38.:11:42.

league with his partner, Gavin Henderson. How life has changed for

:11:43.:11:46.

this young man, suddenly he is greeted by a wall of photographers.

:11:47.:11:50.

Everybody wanting to take his picture and enjoy his story. He went

:11:51.:12:00.

on to become a superstar at the Warwick boat club. There he is with

:12:01.:12:06.

Gavin Henderson. He won at straight sets. Not quite Centre Court, just a

:12:07.:12:11.

few people watching. But look at that, always the entertainer, the

:12:12.:12:17.

hot dog through the legs. Marcus Willis winning his Coventry league

:12:18.:12:21.

match. He won that and is delighted and he's walked away from Wimbledon

:12:22.:12:26.

with great memories and ?50,000 as well. We really have enjoyed

:12:27.:12:31.

following his story. This is the scene at Wimbledon, the roof is now

:12:32.:12:35.

closed. I'm pleased to see the covers are still on. We are told

:12:36.:12:39.

there'll be no play on the outside courts until at least 4.45pm. It may

:12:40.:12:44.

be even later than that by the time they've got the courts ready. I'm

:12:45.:12:48.

also hearing there are no tickets let for tomorrow. If you haven't

:12:49.:12:56.

gone on the Wimbledon website, there are no tickets left. There'll be

:12:57.:13:00.

none on sale tomorrow at the club. But if you're lucky to have got a

:13:01.:13:04.

ticket, we can't wait to see you. It will be a special day. Hopefully the

:13:05.:13:08.

weather will be kinder than today and throughout the whole of the

:13:09.:13:12.

first week. The good news is the roof is on and the players are back

:13:13.:13:16.

on. So at last we can bring you some live tennis and not be worrying

:13:17.:13:21.

about what is happening up above. The wave is going round Centre

:13:22.:13:25.

Court. A wonderful atmosphere, it always is on the middle Saturday.

:13:26.:13:29.

The superstars of sport are in the Royal Box as well. Everyone enjoying

:13:30.:13:34.

their Centre Court experience and thrilled that they are guaranteed

:13:35.:13:37.

tennis for some time. It is Andy Murray, the British number one. He

:13:38.:13:42.

has taken the first set against John Millman of Australia, six games to

:13:43.:13:46.

three. It is in the first game of the second set. So let's rejoin our

:13:47.:13:52.

commentators once more, Jim Courier and Mark Petchey. I'm sure they are

:13:53.:14:01.

doing the wave. A phenomenal atmosphere building inside Centre

:14:02.:14:03.

Court. There is something special about this court anyway, but with

:14:04.:14:10.

the roof closed it always gets a little more intimate. Intimidating,

:14:11.:14:16.

and yes, look at Gordon. He's still got it! A man that saved from Pele

:14:17.:14:23.

in 1970, he still can do it. Lovely to see. Thankfully the roof is shut

:14:24.:14:33.

now, so we won't get any more interruptions apart from the Mexican

:14:34.:14:39.

waves. I'm sure tomorrow on People Sunday when we get the crowd in for

:14:40.:14:47.

that as well. Are the roof closed the players have been given a five

:14:48.:14:52.

minute warm-up to get used to the different conditions. Normally they

:14:53.:14:55.

would have maybe had a three minute warm-up at best for the time spent

:14:56.:15:03.

off court. Everyone getting set to go. At Queen's as well, his son

:15:04.:15:13.

Romeo plays a lot of tennis as well. Who knows? A famous dad for

:15:14.:15:20.

football, a famous son for tennis. His mum on the left. Are you allowed

:15:21.:15:25.

to take photos in the Royal Box? He just snapped a couple. Let's see if

:15:26.:15:32.

they are brave enough to eject him. Or a red card. It will be Millman

:15:33.:15:38.

serving at 40-0 once we get back under way. Just 38 minutes of actual

:15:39.:15:43.

play. You feel as though that was the

:15:44.:15:53.

correct decision to give it as much as we could in terms of being an

:15:54.:15:57.

outdoor tournament before the roof was closed? I'm a believer of trying

:15:58.:16:04.

to play it outdoors, but be practical about it, be pragmatic. We

:16:05.:16:08.

do have other matches to get in here on Centre Court and possibly even

:16:09.:16:12.

add a match if the weather outside doesn't co-operate. We need to keep

:16:13.:16:16.

advancing this tournament. UMPIRE: 1 minute. It is such a

:16:17.:16:22.

luxury to have this roof and to see the light conditions changing here,

:16:23.:16:26.

as it is shifting overhead, the clouds moving aside for a minute. If

:16:27.:16:30.

you had been in Millman's team today, after witnessing that first

:16:31.:16:35.

38 minutes, knowing what he is capable of doing, you've seen him

:16:36.:16:42.

play in Brisbane and out here today against Andy, if you were Mark

:16:43.:16:47.

Draper or the trainer for Lleyton Hewitt, what would you have liked to

:16:48.:16:52.

see more of here in the second set early on? They can access the same

:16:53.:16:57.

data that we've been showing you as far as where Andy Murray has been

:16:58.:17:01.

serving. Serving. We've told you the viewer at home Murray has been

:17:02.:17:05.

serving predominantly up the middle of the court. That would be one

:17:06.:17:08.

thing you would let your player know. At least eliminate the ease

:17:09.:17:15.

and convenience of Murray being able to get value on the T serves.

:17:16.:17:20.

UMPIRE: Time. Millman doesn't have a tonne of options out here. Had eis

:17:21.:17:25.

by nature a greyhounder and he is playing against one of the best

:17:26.:17:30.

grinders, Andy Murray of course. And for him it is hard to see a way, it

:17:31.:17:37.

is more of a hit, run and hope that Murray keeps his eyes off the ball

:17:38.:17:42.

at times and gives you mistakes. It is not going to be easy shredding

:17:43.:17:45.

for John Millman. What would you have said? The one game that he did

:17:46.:17:51.

do well on against Andy averaged I think 5 miles an hour more off the

:17:52.:17:57.

return. I think that he's got a gamble a it will bill. You are

:17:58.:18:01.

absolutely right, the groundsmen here at Wimbledon love to see a guy

:18:02.:18:07.

like Millman play, because he digs a trench along the baseline. That's

:18:08.:18:11.

his natural habitat all the way through. And you have to say he's

:18:12.:18:16.

got to get away from that natural style against Andy. Particularly on

:18:17.:18:19.

the second serve from Andy. I think he's got to pick his spot and just

:18:20.:18:25.

not close his eyes and be too reckless, but pick his spot and find

:18:26.:18:30.

a way to get in front in those rallies.

:18:31.:18:34.

APPLAUSE. UMPIRE: John Millman to serve. 40-0.

:18:35.:18:42.

Millman restarting here, 40-0 on his own serve, beginning of the second

:18:43.:18:45.

set. UMPIRE: Game Millman. First game,

:18:46.:19:08.

second set. Talked a bit about the Australian's exploits in Australia

:19:09.:19:12.

getting round to the third round. He had a tough loss in the French Open

:19:13.:19:17.

against John Isner when he was a set up, 40-0 up on his own serve. Yep,

:19:18.:19:21.

had multiple set points even after the three on his own serve, a

:19:22.:19:26.

tie-breaker lost that Washington. -Breaker lost that Washington. --

:19:27.:19:28.

lost that one. APPLAUSE. I wonder whether perhaps

:19:29.:20:02.

he should have been allowed to defend from that particular

:20:03.:20:06.

position, and where was John Millman in terms of the net.

:20:07.:20:39.

APPLAUSE. Did you like that return? I liked the return. More velocity.

:20:40.:20:51.

Up the middle as well. When you say, pick a spot. A lot of times people

:20:52.:20:56.

watching the sport think you mean wide. Up the middle is picking the

:20:57.:21:00.

spot. It is a good place against a lot of the st a lot of the top

:21:01.:21:04.

players as well - get being it under their feet.

:21:05.:21:23.

Especially on a surface like grass, it decelerates on a surface like

:21:24.:21:32.

this than many other. It is a misconception when players think the

:21:33.:21:36.

ball accelerates at times when it bounces off the grass. It is not

:21:37.:21:41.

that true, but it feels that way. Up the middle can be the smart move.

:21:42.:21:49.

And again Murray town the T with his serve. Millman with a little

:21:50.:21:58.

reaction there. That ball as it hit the line spun the opposite way to

:21:59.:22:00.

what he was expecting. APPLAUSE. It does not appear that

:22:01.:22:21.

Millman is aware of the serving patterns of that young lady's son.

:22:22.:22:29.

He's gone right up the middle of the serves time and time again. We

:22:30.:22:41.

talked at the start about the accuracy of Andy's serve and why it

:22:42.:22:44.

is important. Millman doesn't quite have the wide serve that Andy is

:22:45.:22:48.

hitting, so it opens up the corridor down the T as well. Millman can't

:22:49.:22:53.

sit on that serve. Serve. Although perhaps right now he should.

:22:54.:23:42.

Some Manchester United legends there. David Beckham and Bobby

:23:43.:23:59.

Charlton just behind him. Andy's opponent today a big

:24:00.:24:14.

Liverpool fan. APPLAUSE. He's got a bit of traction

:24:15.:24:55.

and more important a Leif Millman at the start of the second.

:24:56.:25:11.

From Millman, he is used to getting the benefit of unforced errors. He

:25:12.:25:22.

hasn't picked up on the service direction that Andy Murray has been

:25:23.:25:26.

deploying consistently. There you can see the aces in the red balls

:25:27.:25:31.

but the most important thing is this centre channel that Andy's been

:25:32.:25:36.

serving down there will. 64% on the forehand side, 78% on the backhand.

:25:37.:25:39.

Clearly because he's doing that, that ball from Millman is going back

:25:40.:25:44.

up the middle to him as well. Murray knows he is the better player in the

:25:45.:25:48.

neutral rallies, if he has the patience to be. Murray will need to

:25:49.:25:54.

cut down on the unforced error count node to get a lead in this set.

:25:55.:26:00.

Hurry has the great comfort of the better return of serve and the

:26:01.:26:05.

ability to broke quite frequently. Twice in the first set out of four.

:26:06.:26:09.

Service attempts by Millman. APPLAUSE. It is one thing to have a

:26:10.:27:02.

strategy. It is another to execute it as effectively as he did here.

:27:03.:27:28.

Murray not as sharp indoors as he was outside when this roof was open.

:27:29.:27:45.

Players talk about it being more humid when the roof is closed,

:27:46.:27:51.

heavier conditions, tougher to generate pace. Maybe Murray is

:27:52.:27:53.

trying a little too hard here. APPLAUSE. In the first set he

:27:54.:28:15.

started making a few unforced errors. He does a little bit of that

:28:16.:28:19.

here as well. Plays conservatively until he gets his man out of

:28:20.:28:23.

position, and then comes in for the easy volley.

:28:24.:28:40.

That's what separates the top players from the rest of the field.

:28:41.:28:47.

Murray is certainly in that pack. Having all the offensive skills and

:28:48.:28:52.

the awareness to fall back on defence when our offence isn't

:28:53.:28:54.

working. Pete Sampras, for example, if he had

:28:55.:29:06.

a cold day he couldn't beat himself. He lost more than these guys did.

:29:07.:29:11.

APPLAUSE. That average second serve speed

:29:12.:29:26.

about 89 today that. Last one from Andy was 81. Millman taking full

:29:27.:29:32.

advantage of it. Has to be careful not to be too conservative.

:29:33.:29:52.

He has a little bent arm when he hits the backhand. You look at Andy

:29:53.:30:00.

and Novak in full flight, theirs is so straight as they get through the

:30:01.:30:05.

ball. Millman, both arms working in unison and it is harder for him to

:30:06.:30:07.

generate pace. Extremely well done with that

:30:08.:30:39.

backhand down the line. This land is perfectly on the line. And he just

:30:40.:30:44.

goes right behind Mr Murray. And he just goes right

:30:45.:30:46.

behind Mr Murray. A 98 mph second serve and Millman

:30:47.:31:45.

did not catch up to it at all. One of those serving games, when

:31:46.:32:05.

Andy gets through them, he starts prowling around at the back of the

:32:06.:32:09.

court, a warning shot. Trying to make Millman pay here.

:32:10.:32:28.

That is a different view above with the roof. Sometimes, the first time,

:32:29.:32:35.

you take it out of the air, and it is just a little different. Does not

:32:36.:32:42.

look like the most proficient overhead, anyway.

:32:43.:34:13.

He is searching for his best tennis. He has yet to find it. A fluctuating

:34:14.:34:17.

performance. It seems like Murray is still trying

:34:18.:34:28.

to acclimatise to the conditions with the roof closed. He has not

:34:29.:34:34.

quite dialled it in yet. Nine unforced errors in the first

:34:35.:34:48.

set, he already has 12 in this early stage of the second set.

:34:49.:35:11.

Credit to Millman, he has done a wonderful job, one of those

:35:12.:35:20.

backhands he hit out of his back pocket and how we got it back across

:35:21.:35:25.

court I will never know. If you were with us at the beginning of the

:35:26.:35:30.

match, we talked about John Millman and his trials and tribulations.

:35:31.:35:33.

This is his first appearance on Centre Court at the age of 27. He

:35:34.:35:39.

has had experience with the word perspective, which is something that

:35:40.:35:42.

unfortunately tends to come with something bad happening in your life

:35:43.:35:48.

and for him it was a shoulder injury in 2013 and some surgery that led

:35:49.:35:53.

him off the tour, but also into the real world. He put on a suit and

:35:54.:35:57.

went to work in finance for a period of time before his health allowed

:35:58.:36:01.

him to resume the pursuit of his dreams. This is a man with a rare

:36:02.:36:05.

perspective within the locker room of what the rest of the world

:36:06.:36:11.

experiences and I am sure a greater appreciation as a result for the

:36:12.:36:15.

chances in front of him to be on this court, playing against one of

:36:16.:36:20.

the game's great players. And to deal with whatever comes at him. He

:36:21.:36:25.

is definitely a glass half full kind of guy, as you probably noticed when

:36:26.:36:31.

he missed the overhead and smiled. He is likeable. Andy's dad is in

:36:32.:36:45.

attendance today. Millman's father owns a tennis centre. That is a nice

:36:46.:36:49.

advantage for a kid, if you want to play tennis.

:36:50.:36:55.

And a sense of perspective, as well, coming from a big family.

:36:56.:37:52.

Very clean and very precise. No chance of Millman, so far, getting

:37:53.:38:03.

involved in this. A nice, quick service game. Not

:38:04.:38:28.

quite as fast as Nick Kyrgios' yesterday, in 39 seconds. Carl Froch

:38:29.:38:33.

on the right, Nicola Adams on the left. An Olympic gold medal, world,

:38:34.:38:40.

Commonwealth and European games champion. A decent resume.

:38:41.:39:10.

Unbelievable. Vision, creativity, imagination, all loaded into one

:39:11.:39:24.

gorgeous shot. It took awhile. The 22nd shot in the rally, which gets

:39:25.:39:33.

it for Murray. A beautiful spinning knock-macro.

:39:34.:39:39.

UMPIRE: Vista Murray is challenging the ball.

:39:40.:40:10.

It has been a test for these guys the last couple of rallies. UMPIRE:

:40:11.:40:28.

Repaid the point. Mr Murray has two challenges remaining.

:40:29.:40:41.

Just the sixth time Andy has not been able to get the ball back into

:40:42.:40:44.

play of a Millman serve. Great net coverage from Murray.

:40:45.:41:07.

Hesitation about coming in, but he held his balance well.

:41:08.:41:34.

Well played, John Millman. All he could do was make life uncomfortable

:41:35.:41:45.

for Murray at the net, and he did just that. You can see how taxing it

:41:46.:41:54.

has been on both players, they are puffing out there, it is a very

:41:55.:41:56.

physical game, this one. Huffing and puffing, Millman maybe,

:41:57.:42:28.

but it may be Andy who blows his house down here.

:42:29.:42:39.

This is where the servers tossed tell really hurts Millman. When he

:42:40.:42:45.

throws it over his shoulder, all he can do is kick it. Murray knows

:42:46.:42:50.

where it is going, backhand side. And he is all over him. The last

:42:51.:42:53.

couple of second serves. Serving different patterns on the

:42:54.:43:15.

first serve, Murray. -- bain-marie. Going more wide than Andy. The

:43:16.:43:20.

second serve is too predictable and it is something he could change

:43:21.:43:26.

easily. Particularly when you are going up against Murray, who is an

:43:27.:43:32.

amazing returner, especially off the backhand side. So solid and

:43:33.:43:36.

aggressive. Some more variety would put doubt in Murray's mind. For Andy

:43:37.:43:43.

it is just perfect. Millman is barely winning points on

:43:44.:44:00.

his own serve. You say it is easy to change, how? Can he throw the ball

:44:01.:44:04.

in a different position? Will he give it away by doing that? Changing

:44:05.:44:10.

the toss a little bit so it is not quite so far over to the side. A

:44:11.:44:19.

little bit of variety. Hitting the slice second serve, as well as the

:44:20.:44:24.

kicker. We have serves called the liars, when you work hard to hit it

:44:25.:44:26.

up the T. He tried to make it happen later in

:44:27.:45:19.

the rally than perhaps he should have done off the serve, which was

:45:20.:45:21.

safe, up the middle of the box. Andy has been winning the majority

:45:22.:45:46.

of the shorter points. 33 of those between zero and four

:45:47.:46:07.

shots. Nice. How about that for variety on

:46:08.:46:29.

the second serve? Millman got a lesson in what you were talking

:46:30.:46:31.

about from his perspective. Great accuracy to the line. Driving

:46:32.:46:38.

Millman out wide. Things are progressing nicely for

:46:39.:47:00.

the world number two currency. -- currently.

:47:01.:47:17.

That is about as good as it gets. It is a quality second serve from a

:47:18.:47:29.

speed standpoint, 98 mph, but it does not help if your opponent knows

:47:30.:47:34.

where it is going. Not when your opponent is Andy Murray.

:47:35.:47:45.

A couple of the last backhands he has lent on, he has got both feet

:47:46.:47:56.

off the ground to keep the ball between shoulder and waist high.

:47:57.:48:28.

Congratulations, John Millman. Way to go. Seriously. Nice move. That is

:48:29.:48:41.

paying attention. You have been punched senselessly on second serves

:48:42.:48:45.

on the backhand. Open up the court. There you go.

:48:46.:48:56.

And now you have put a little bit of doubt in Andy Murray's mind. A

:48:57.:49:03.

second serve back to the backhand would be more effective, you would

:49:04.:49:09.

think. I would probably hit a fume or out wide, just to reinforce that

:49:10.:49:13.

if you are Millman will -- Millman. Murray almost wandering into the

:49:14.:49:45.

net. When he got to the ball, injecting a lot of pace. Certainly a

:49:46.:49:51.

player who looks more comfortable at the net. Millman a little reluctant

:49:52.:49:57.

to come in, I wonder whether it is his smash, which is a bit of a

:49:58.:50:02.

liability, that is a reason why he is tentative about taking that step

:50:03.:50:06.

towards the net. Andy Murray has one of the best lobs on the tour.

:50:07.:50:27.

Billie Jean King and Margaret Court To the left.

:50:28.:50:40.

A fair amount of silver polish to sort out the trophies between those

:50:41.:50:44.

two. That is a full-time job. He has been searching for that

:50:45.:51:59.

particular backhand. And he has found it.

:52:00.:52:14.

He has changed it up again. Another tick in the box for Millman, and

:52:15.:52:50.

better length, just catching Murray out.

:52:51.:53:20.

UMPIRE: Mr Millman is challenging the call.

:53:21.:53:34.

If you miss your first serve, you should not get another one. That is

:53:35.:53:51.

a rule that should be changed. Murray is looking it imperious form.

:53:52.:54:21.

Great footwork to take the ball on the rise. Easier to generate pace

:54:22.:54:29.

will -- pace on a ball that is dropping.

:54:30.:54:43.

Set point down and he stands and delivers.

:54:44.:55:24.

A degree of frustration is being shown by Murray.

:55:25.:55:55.

It was a game that encapsulates everything John Millman is about.

:55:56.:56:04.

Heart, desire, and a lot of hard work and he gets his reward.

:56:05.:56:11.

Andy Murray gets a chance to serve it out. We have been talking about

:56:12.:56:17.

the ball toss. How Millman's is obvious. Sam Querrey has beaten

:56:18.:56:30.

Novak Djokovic and that has hit the scoreboard and prompted a crowd

:56:31.:56:38.

reaction. We will see what it looks like for these players. The service

:56:39.:56:41.

contact. Judy Murray's reaction to that

:56:42.:57:02.

score. She gave away a little bit more than her son. The director has

:57:03.:57:15.

wisely chosen Judy Murray's image over the service selection. Murray

:57:16.:57:23.

now to try to serve this set out. The frustration is becoming more

:57:24.:58:55.

evident for Murray fans right now. Tantalisingly close to being 2-0 up

:58:56.:59:00.

and Millman within touching distance in his own mind of perhaps levelling

:59:01.:59:03.

this second set. Again, credit to Millman. Sitting on

:59:04.:59:24.

the serve. The 18th on forced error in this set from Andy Murray and now

:59:25.:59:28.

three chances to get this tied up at five.

:59:29.:59:39.

UMPIRE: Mr Murray is challenging the call.

:59:40.:00:05.

Mr Murray has won challenge remaining.

:00:06.:01:02.

Both players extended on that particular set point. Millman not

:01:03.:01:08.

looking that convincing when he was coming forward, there. Murray keeps

:01:09.:01:14.

him at bay for one more set point. I have to say from where we are

:01:15.:01:59.

sitting it did feel a little wide. Murray got a sense it was also out,

:02:00.:02:04.

and we level, and that is the ultimate reward, really, for Millman

:02:05.:02:09.

after what was an epic service game to keep him in this second set.

:02:10.:02:28.

No lack of determination in this man's career.

:02:29.:03:54.

Longest rally of the match, 28 shots. Even Murray having to take

:03:55.:04:15.

down some oxygen after that one. Battle of wills out here right now.

:04:16.:06:08.

Millman is doing his part, playing the shock absorber out here in this

:06:09.:06:13.

set. But Murray really hold all the cards. He can play defence in, and

:06:14.:06:20.

he can do that. Break point chance here, Murray batting 50% for

:06:21.:06:23.

convergent. -- conversion. Brilliant from Millman. A couple of

:06:24.:06:55.

edge of your seat moments there in that rally. Wondered whether he'd

:06:56.:07:00.

missed his opportunity, could have drifted in, elected to stay back.

:07:01.:07:07.

Finally extracted the error from Murray.

:07:08.:07:34.

Murray doesn't need another invitation to get himself to the

:07:35.:07:39.

net, there. Saw his opportunity and took it. 21st rally in this second

:07:40.:07:49.

set. That's been nine shots or more. We just had eight in the opening

:07:50.:07:50.

set. Got to love Millman's willingness to

:07:51.:09:00.

compete. He's got to be loving this, too. Because he has his teeth so

:09:01.:09:04.

deep into this set right now. Staved off those set points at 5-3 and he's

:09:05.:09:13.

getting to play the style of tennis that he wants to play.

:09:14.:09:29.

I wouldn't just say that's been run, I'd say that's been sprinted.

:09:30.:10:09.

Wow, what a game from both players. Millman absolutely throttling that

:10:10.:10:13.

forehand. 94 mph on the winner. Goodness. Does Sam Querrey have

:10:14.:10:53.

something to do with this? Both playing inspired tennis after

:10:54.:10:56.

Querrey takes out Djokovic over on Court One. It will be interesting to

:10:57.:11:01.

see how many second serve points he's won when he struck it short.

:11:02.:11:05.

When he's got it near the service line he's had a bit of success. But

:11:06.:11:07.

Murray just climbing into that. He's missed it. Mr Millman is

:11:08.:11:24.

challenging the call on the right far sideline. Just figuring out a

:11:25.:11:29.

way to get one more back, then he did a good job of making himself

:11:30.:11:32.

appear bigger at the net than perhaps he was. Another break point

:11:33.:11:42.

for Murray. Sure slice, that was purely intentional. Millman just a

:11:43.:11:46.

little unsure what to do at the net. Replay the point. Mr Millman is

:11:47.:12:11.

challenging the call on the baseline, it was called in. Andy is

:12:12.:12:16.

not happy that the umpire has given Millman the chance to challenge.

:12:17.:12:21.

Felt as though it was too long in coming. But it's all academic. He's

:12:22.:12:27.

got another chance here to break serve.

:12:28.:12:46.

He's just creating the highlights show for us.

:12:47.:12:55.

Well, 90 mph forehand, 85 mph backhand, just as we pictured it.

:12:56.:13:21.

He does just like that one layer at the net that the best players have.

:13:22.:13:30.

They are so complete, so many ways to hurt you. Millman again just

:13:31.:13:34.

reluctant to make the move towards the net. Break point number four.

:13:35.:13:53.

Because the ground strokes are world-class. He's hanging tough.

:13:54.:14:01.

Might be frustrated here, Millman is picking up so many shots. The only

:14:02.:14:08.

time he wants to be at the net is when he is shaking hands.

:14:09.:14:42.

Spell blindingly good. That's fantastic. A wry smile from Jason

:14:43.:14:57.

Stauffenberg. As he delivers a beautiful volley here, it must be

:14:58.:15:02.

said. Shortening the court, giving Murray no play on it. See that? I

:15:03.:15:12.

can volley! You are right, you are absolutely right.

:15:13.:15:27.

Still has more work in front of him. Murray just gliding in, well aware

:15:28.:15:40.

how soft his hands. He's going to need a bed at the changeover, not a

:15:41.:15:42.

chair. Awkward looking shocked. He had a

:15:43.:16:27.

lot of time to think about what to do with it as well, and didn't have

:16:28.:16:29.

a lot of pace on it. He ran out of resistance, did

:16:30.:16:46.

Millman. What a game of tennis. He will get a second chance to serve

:16:47.:17:14.

for this set, Andy Murray. He really ramped up the aggression in the last

:17:15.:17:17.

game which is something that had really been lacking since the roof

:17:18.:17:24.

closed. In the first set Murray had been pretty aggressive. Right here,

:17:25.:17:32.

right now indeed. Great song from Jesus Jones, just if you are

:17:33.:17:37.

wondering. Keep accelerating that forehand. Millman has been able to

:17:38.:17:43.

keep his speed levels the same indoors versus outdoors. Covered a

:17:44.:17:51.

lot of turf here in the last game. Murray, his speeds, as we see here

:17:52.:17:54.

on the graphics, ever consistent. Murray with the roof open, 76 mph,

:17:55.:18:12.

72 on the closure. Heavier conditions. Seems like he picked it

:18:13.:18:16.

up a lot in that last game. Seemed to get his timing right. I think the

:18:17.:18:21.

absence of alternatives cleared his mind nicely. As for Millman, has he

:18:22.:18:33.

recovered enough from the exploits of the last game to put up any sort

:18:34.:18:37.

of challenge here? Very difficult shot that Millman shy

:18:38.:19:53.

to pick up, there. Because he was travelling at such speed, the

:19:54.:19:57.

finesse as well was always going to be tricky.

:19:58.:20:13.

Good return. The most pressurised situations.

:20:14.:20:49.

Just subtle differences, at times, you can see Murray's willingness to

:20:50.:20:56.

go to net, makes his feet were a bit better inside the baseline. You saw

:20:57.:21:00.

at the start of that point Millman was waiting for the ball because

:21:01.:21:03.

it's just not in his mind that that's where he wants to be heading

:21:04.:21:05.

as a destination. Straightforward down the middle but

:21:06.:21:31.

it's been anything but straightforward, this second set.

:21:32.:21:43.

But eventually the second set is his. And it was a wonderful contest

:21:44.:21:50.

a witness for the last 25 minutes or so. STUDIO: Well done, Andy, hanging

:21:51.:22:03.

on to take a 2-0 lead. But there are shock waves going around this

:22:04.:22:06.

tournament at the moment. Jim and Mark were talking about it. This is

:22:07.:22:12.

how Sam Querrey pulled off the biggest upset of the championship so

:22:13.:22:15.

far, the biggest upset in tennis this year. This is the final point,

:22:16.:22:22.

that error from Jankovic and Querrey is through. -- from Djokovic. Huge

:22:23.:22:27.

shock for this sport, the man who holds all four Grand Slam titles,

:22:28.:22:34.

look virtually undefeatable in the majors in recent years, hasn't lost

:22:35.:22:38.

at this stage in this tournament since 2009. Cannot emphasise how

:22:39.:22:43.

much this is a huge surprise. We expected Djokovic to come out today

:22:44.:22:48.

and be better than he was yesterday. He took the third set and had a

:22:49.:22:51.

chance to serve out for the fourth set and 5-4, wasn't able to take it,

:22:52.:22:58.

and Querrey took his chance. Querrey is the man who advances in this

:22:59.:23:02.

tournament, the biggest win of his career celebrated by his family,

:23:03.:23:08.

friends, coach. But also for Novak Djokovic, what a turning point this

:23:09.:23:13.

is. And for Novak Djokovic and his team, this is a massive

:23:14.:23:17.

disappointment. Boris has done his bit. We saw him on the practice

:23:18.:23:20.

court today, he certainly didn't look well, didn't look engaged in

:23:21.:23:25.

practice. We don't know what was wrong with him, maybe it is just all

:23:26.:23:31.

the pressure of maybe getting the calendar Grand Slam. We will hear

:23:32.:23:35.

from him later. Let's hear from the man who has pulled off this massive

:23:36.:23:43.

upset. Difficult match but the result is simple, you have beating

:23:44.:23:47.

world number one Novak Djokovic, sum up your emotions? It is incredible,

:23:48.:23:50.

especially at Wimbledon, biggest tournament in the world. So ecstatic

:23:51.:23:56.

right now, so happy, that's about it. Not just a matter of seeding,

:23:57.:24:01.

this is a player who holds all four Grand Slams and hasn't gone out in

:24:02.:24:04.

the third round of a Grand Slam since 2009. Where and how did you do

:24:05.:24:09.

it when others couldn't? Today I played the break points really well.

:24:10.:24:13.

Every time he had a break point I was able to come up with a big

:24:14.:24:17.

serve. In the end I fought the tie-breaker and got a couple of

:24:18.:24:23.

loose errors and that was it. Very frustrating this British summer

:24:24.:24:25.

Time, particularly the rain delay right at the end and also overnight,

:24:26.:24:29.

how concerned were you that he would be given the chance to regroup and

:24:30.:24:33.

regain momentum? We know how mentally he's strong he is. I was

:24:34.:24:41.

ready for that. Fortunately for me we had a second rain delay and I got

:24:42.:24:44.

to regroup. He is so amazing, arguably one of the best, possibly

:24:45.:24:49.

on his way to being the best ever, so you knew he was mentally tough

:24:50.:24:53.

and would come back. You put out the world number one, how far can you go

:24:54.:24:57.

in the rest of Wimbledon? I'm just taking it one round at the time and

:24:58.:25:01.

I'm not even sure who I play next. I'm going to be happy with this

:25:02.:25:04.

right now and look forward to the next round of little bit.

:25:05.:25:09.

Congratulations. Thanks. Novak Djokovic says he doesn't really want

:25:10.:25:12.

to talk about it, when asked if there was anything wrong. We will

:25:13.:25:17.

hope to hear a little more News of the World number one and the reasons

:25:18.:25:23.

for why he won't want to talk about it. But that's the story here, Sam

:25:24.:25:27.

Querrey has gone through, a big upset in the top half of the draw.

:25:28.:25:32.

Good news for Andy Murray as well. He's taken the second set, as we

:25:33.:25:36.

saw. We have just missed a few points here, so let's rejoin Jim and

:25:37.:25:38.

Mark. The chair umpire not saying it was

:25:39.:26:17.

clear enough to beat definitively out, so here comes the challenge.

:26:18.:26:26.

Mr Millman has two challenges remaining.

:26:27.:26:50.

He certainly decided to play the opening game of this third set

:26:51.:26:55.

inside the baseline, hasn't he, Murray? Very aggressive court

:26:56.:26:58.

position from the world number two. Ooh, Millman takes a spill. Looks to

:26:59.:27:37.

be OK. Murray seems determined not to engage in those 29 shot rallies,

:27:38.:27:48.

here. Showed good sportsmanship down under against Diego Schwartzman,

:27:49.:27:52.

John Millman, when the Argentinian really had some horrible physical

:27:53.:27:57.

problems. Cramping on the court. At 5-0 he eventually had to retire.

:27:58.:28:02.

Millman was the first to offer him salt tablets and everything else.

:28:03.:28:15.

It's been a year of extremes in the majors in tens of weather. Australia

:28:16.:28:22.

was an inferno first week this year. Going to be a break point chance for

:28:23.:28:41.

Murray, here. Subtle brilliance from Murray, he managed to get plenty of

:28:42.:28:46.

pace on what was a very low, awkward volley.

:28:47.:29:01.

Well, you go back and look at that point, you will see that John

:29:02.:29:10.

Millman just realised he had a somewhat allergic reaction when he

:29:11.:29:13.

went towards the net, because he hit the reverse gear pretty swiftly. And

:29:14.:29:17.

got himself caught in the man's land. -- no man's land. Murray

:29:18.:29:25.

played that game like he was in a hurry to get back home to see his

:29:26.:29:29.

daughter off to sleep. Very aggressive play and it played -- it

:29:30.:29:38.

paid off fine. Let's see whether Millman has another left in him like

:29:39.:29:44.

he did at the end of the second set. It's a big ask now, two sets and a

:29:45.:29:54.

break down. But this is a nice place to spend some time, Centre Court.

:29:55.:29:57.

I'm sure he's not in a hurry to get off it.

:29:58.:30:07.

As hard work as it may have been for John Millman, certainly nicer work

:30:08.:30:16.

than when he was buttoning up the top button and putting the tie on to

:30:17.:30:22.

get to the financial company he was working for. Does not look like a

:30:23.:30:27.

guy who wants to sit still too long, the way he plays tennis.

:30:28.:30:41.

I saw in the Australian newspapers, describing John Millman, they said

:30:42.:30:48.

he is like a caffeinated Jack Russell.

:30:49.:31:08.

We miss having a beat which master Rafael Nadal this year. Energy

:31:09.:31:17.

percolating from the Aussie, that is for sure. I hope Rafael the wrist is

:31:18.:31:38.

healing nicely and we will get to see him back on tour.

:31:39.:31:48.

It is like Usain Bolt running with a racket in his hand and being able to

:31:49.:31:54.

deal with that. Look how early he takes that so that Millman cannot

:31:55.:31:56.

recover. You cannot break the spirit of a man

:31:57.:32:43.

like John Millman, but you can show him the inevitable is going to

:32:44.:32:46.

happen and that is currently what is happening here.

:32:47.:32:53.

Beautiful use of the sliced top-spin from Murray. Drawing the easy one he

:32:54.:33:34.

can launch into that led to the backhand and this nice easy

:33:35.:33:38.

semi-smash. That is burrowing through the Centre

:33:39.:33:53.

Court. This match is moving away from John

:33:54.:34:03.

Millman pretty quickly. Looking for Murray to launch a big

:34:04.:34:17.

backhand if he gets one on this return.

:34:18.:34:45.

Yes, too good. You can win and you can win and entertain and Murray is

:34:46.:35:22.

doing that right now. It has been fun to watch this third

:35:23.:35:28.

set. Murray has been getting great value

:35:29.:35:45.

of the slice backhand. Millman is making contact here, when Murray

:35:46.:35:52.

slices the ball. That is an ankle bite. It is low. Murray has been

:35:53.:35:57.

hitting 41% of his backhands with the slice here. Just illustrating

:35:58.:36:05.

what Jim is saying. If you are John Millman, you have to rip up the back

:36:06.:36:10.

of the ball, put more spin on it. It is a safer shot. You cannot get

:36:11.:36:14.

through the opponent from there, it is setting you up. The French

:36:15.:36:22.

numbers, he was slicing 23% of the time. At the French it does not stay

:36:23.:36:27.

as low as it does on this surface. He's not trying to win the point

:36:28.:36:33.

with the slice backhand, but the shot after. John Millman can hit

:36:34.:36:42.

forehands into the 90s. When Murray gets one in his sweet spot, he let

:36:43.:36:50.

fly. It is a beautiful 1-2 combination.

:36:51.:37:01.

The only thing Millman can do to defend that is to re-slice it. Keep

:37:02.:37:09.

the ball low on Murray and ask the same question.

:37:10.:37:34.

It was effective against Stan Wawrinka in the Del Potro match, he

:37:35.:37:40.

was slicing crosscourt and very little stand could do in terms of

:37:41.:37:43.

getting up in the court and dominating the rally. -- Stan

:37:44.:37:58.

Wawrinka. Del Potro's left wrist has been surgically repaired three times

:37:59.:38:03.

and he can no longer dip a racket and generate the same top-spin on

:38:04.:38:07.

the backhand as he used to, so he has two slice.

:38:08.:38:14.

But it worked pretty well against Stan Wawrinka.

:38:15.:38:23.

Second set, 67 minutes. Almost 4-0 here in 16 minutes.

:38:24.:38:41.

UMPIRE: New balls, please. It is not a lack of hard work and application

:38:42.:38:53.

from John Millman. It is the fact that Andy Murray has shown he can

:38:54.:38:56.

elevate his standard of play to a place where Millman cannot live with

:38:57.:39:04.

him. Hard work will get you a long way in life, but hard work and

:39:05.:39:09.

abundant talent like Andy Murray has and the willingness to sacrifice

:39:10.:39:10.

takes you right to the top. At the French Open we said that Andy

:39:11.:39:29.

Murray was struggling to hang on in the first couple of rounds. There is

:39:30.:39:34.

a lot of skill that separates him from the pack, but his will also

:39:35.:39:39.

separates him at times and he needed every bit of it at Roland Garros. It

:39:40.:39:49.

has been the skill so far in a week one at Wimbledon that has carried

:39:50.:39:56.

him. The hard work is ahead of him in this tournament. All that work

:39:57.:40:02.

was behind him by now at Roland Garros.

:40:03.:40:47.

The other side of the scoreboard finally moving in this third set.

:40:48.:40:57.

Jim, did you have the same mentality as Andy at all stages of the match

:40:58.:41:02.

that literally every point felt as valuable. That point at 30-15, when

:41:03.:41:08.

he missed. He is chatting to himself, he is disappointed he did

:41:09.:41:12.

not make it. Were you the same, no matter what the score? For the most

:41:13.:41:19.

part, I think so. I was much more engaged than someone like Pete

:41:20.:41:22.

Sampras, who would not be bothered a lot of times when his opponent was

:41:23.:41:26.

serving because he was confident in his service game that he knew he

:41:27.:41:36.

needed just one break of serve. Rafael Nadal, he is a point by point

:41:37.:41:39.

player. Roger Federer, it does not seem he is quite as focus but his

:41:40.:41:47.

results would suggest otherwise. Andy Murray, it suits his

:41:48.:41:55.

personality. Neil Smith and Denise Lewis, a shot there.

:41:56.:42:19.

That was sweet. Fizzing like a shaken Coca-Cola. It has so much

:42:20.:42:32.

work on it. Watch the racket from Millman, when it goes from low to

:42:33.:42:33.

high. That was nice. He has done it. And he deserves

:42:34.:43:07.

something to remember this third set by. That was it.

:43:08.:43:16.

Revenge after the suffering from Andy Murray's lobs he has faced.

:43:17.:43:23.

That must have felt sweet. He continues to get better. His

:43:24.:44:37.

fastest serve of the match on the previous point.

:44:38.:44:58.

Again, the slice set up by a ball that Millman had to give Murray.

:44:59.:45:08.

This is interesting because Murray's body language indicated the ball was

:45:09.:45:13.

going out, which can make sometimes the lines person call. But that is

:45:14.:45:20.

why Millman challenged it. The interaction between the players. The

:45:21.:45:24.

body language communication, inadvertently, from Murray.

:45:25.:45:38.

He is really going after the second serve.

:45:39.:45:58.

Just a little silver lining at 0-30. But Murray now just a game away from

:45:59.:46:06.

a place in the last 16. Good from Millman to even track this

:46:07.:46:50.

down. The ball fluttered to the ground

:46:51.:46:59.

like a butterfly landing. Millman was running past the net. He had to

:47:00.:47:05.

make it that good. If he were going to win the point, but he could not

:47:06.:47:08.

do it. Talking about experience. Part of

:47:09.:48:00.

the process is figuring out what you can do, what you are capable of

:48:01.:48:05.

doing against top players. Millman, although he will come away from the

:48:06.:48:09.

match with a loss, will still have learned. That he is able, at the

:48:10.:48:14.

start of the match perhaps, keep Murray at bay more, changing his

:48:15.:48:18.

second serve position. Hitting it harder without offering up too many

:48:19.:48:25.

double faults. He has only served one in the match. He has frequently

:48:26.:48:30.

gone to the forehand of Murray with second serves, as of late. He

:48:31.:48:40.

extends his stay on Centre Court for perhaps one more game, Millman.

:48:41.:48:58.

The third-ranked Australian who is on his way to Rio for the Olympics,

:48:59.:49:06.

courtesy of the fact that Nick Kyrgios Bernard Tomic have made

:49:07.:49:08.

themselves unavailable for that. There is a lot to feel good about,

:49:09.:49:14.

even though he may go down in straight sets to Murray, but he has

:49:15.:49:20.

come out here and put in a creditable performance. Excellent

:49:21.:49:25.

tennis in the second set and his level of concentration and focus has

:49:26.:49:29.

been consistent. That is one area where he has matched Andy Murray in

:49:30.:49:33.

the match. A terrific professional doing what he can do. He has made

:49:34.:49:39.

nice adjustments. He is outclassed by Andy Murray, there is no shame in

:49:40.:49:45.

that. He is getting ever closer to playing the best tennis he is

:49:46.:49:49.

capable of. He will make a nice living as a professional tennis

:49:50.:49:54.

player, John Millman. He is 27 years of age and there is a lot of open

:49:55.:50:00.

road in front of him. People play in the majors at 30 plus these days.

:50:01.:50:28.

Trying something new. A crush Andrew -- and rush.

:50:29.:50:51.

Great effort. When the ball comes out with top-spin, there is only one

:50:52.:51:06.

way for that to happen and that is the ball bounces twice.

:51:07.:51:23.

His left shoulder is turned to the exit because that is where he is

:51:24.:51:28.

headed in a couple of points, he thinks.

:51:29.:51:37.

Did not stick around at Queen's. He needed to make a sharp exit. He may

:51:38.:51:49.

stay around longer if he goes on to win here a second time. Sealed with

:51:50.:51:57.

an ace. Smoothly through the first week.

:51:58.:52:04.

Smooth has not been a word you can associate with the weather and a lot

:52:05.:52:11.

of the seeds who have tumbled already. But Andy Murray has

:52:12.:52:14.

navigated his opening three rounds without dropping a set.

:52:15.:52:21.

The first man in the bottom half through to the second week. Matches

:52:22.:52:30.

still to come today, weather permitting. Andy Murray, untroubled,

:52:31.:52:41.

and looking pretty solid. As he moves to a potential other title and

:52:42.:52:47.

a big obstruction is out of the way, the man who has beaten him in the

:52:48.:52:51.

last two major finals, Novak Djokovic. We knew what to expect

:52:52.:52:56.

from this man. He has done it countless times in major

:52:57.:52:59.

tournaments, particularly on Centre Court, but a word for John Millman,

:53:00.:53:04.

what a performance, first time on Centre Court. Terrific effort. An

:53:05.:53:13.

old school Aussie. He put in a terrific effort, especially at the

:53:14.:53:18.

end of the second set, when challenging Murray from 5-3 down.

:53:19.:53:22.

Terrific shotmaking. Forcing some of the best from Murray. Andy Murray

:53:23.:53:36.

with a big smile to the Royal box where so many sporting legends have

:53:37.:53:39.

occupied seats throughout the contest today. He is among those, as

:53:40.:53:45.

well. He is a giant in British sport in terms of his achievements.

:53:46.:53:56.

He has ambitions to win here and ambitions, perhaps, still, to be the

:53:57.:54:03.

world's best. Ranked number one in the world. He has not achieved that.

:54:04.:54:05.

It is still a goal of his. Unbeaten since the reunion with Ivan

:54:06.:54:21.

Lendl. He will be thrilled how his man has got through the first week.

:54:22.:54:26.

It is so different to Paris. No question and with the easy

:54:27.:54:31.

scorelines, not a lot for Murray to be upset about. He has been focused

:54:32.:54:36.

and self-contained, which is how he plays his best tennis, historically.

:54:37.:54:44.

Smiles all around for the British fans inside Centre Court.

:54:45.:54:51.

Particularly as they have enjoyed the last hour and a half under the

:54:52.:54:56.

roof in the comfort of that and it was a comfortable win from Murray,

:54:57.:55:03.

who wins 6-3, 7-5, 6-2. He is with Lee McKenzie.

:55:04.:55:11.

Congratulations, you are through to the last 16. How do you assess your

:55:12.:55:15.

performance? It was a good match with longer rallies. John moves well

:55:16.:55:22.

and does not make too many unforced errors and he makes sure you are on

:55:23.:55:27.

it and the end of the second set was tough. When you go indoors it slows

:55:28.:55:31.

conditions and it was not easy to get through the court. I had to be

:55:32.:55:38.

more patient. I played good stuff in the third set. There was headshaking

:55:39.:55:43.

in the second set, were you frustrated you let him back in, or

:55:44.:55:47.

did he just raise his game? I do not know exactly what happened. I was

:55:48.:55:55.

creating chances. I had two set points at 5-3 and went down 0-40

:55:56.:56:00.

quickly on my serve, and he rushed to be on the first point and came in

:56:01.:56:04.

and played a good point on the second point. I was under pressure

:56:05.:56:09.

but I held strong. That was the most important point of the match at the

:56:10.:56:13.

end of the second set, the fact I managed to hold and get a big break

:56:14.:56:18.

at 5-5 after what felt like a 12 minute game. A lot of sporting

:56:19.:56:23.

greats in the Royal box and you made them happy and Ivan Lendl looked

:56:24.:56:28.

delighted. What is it like to perform at a high level in front of

:56:29.:56:35.

great sport stars? It is nice. I love all sport and follow at plot of

:56:36.:56:40.

different sports. When athletes from other sports come to watch yours it

:56:41.:56:45.

is very nice and nice for the players. It gives you a little bit

:56:46.:56:49.

of a boost and I am glad I managed to play a good match. Novak Djokovic

:56:50.:56:55.

is out of Wimbledon after being beaten by Sam Querrey. There are

:56:56.:56:59.

matches to go before the final, but does it make it easier for you to

:57:00.:57:05.

become Wimbledon champion again? I need to reach the final for that

:57:06.:57:09.

result to have any bearing whatsoever on my performance. I have

:57:10.:57:17.

fairy tough guys left in my half of the draw. Especially the next round.

:57:18.:57:24.

Novak's run has been amazing. He almost found a way to get back into

:57:25.:57:29.

that one today. What he has done in the last 12, 18 months, I do not

:57:30.:57:39.

think we will see for a long time. Unfortunate, obviously, for him, but

:57:40.:57:43.

an amazing run he has been on. We know his physical and mental

:57:44.:57:46.

strength, would you expect him to have come back and got through that?

:57:47.:57:53.

Right now, everybody expects Novak to win every match. The level of

:57:54.:57:57.

consistency he has had has been amazing. It is normal, in a way, to

:57:58.:58:04.

have one match, two matches when you do not play at your best and may be

:58:05.:58:09.

your opponent plays a great match. I did not see loads of it. Obviously

:58:10.:58:15.

you expect Novak to win, but at the same time it is impossible to win

:58:16.:58:21.

every match in every tournament. His amazing run has obviously come to an

:58:22.:58:28.

end. You played well, thanks. SUE BARKER: Murray is surprised that

:58:29.:58:32.

everybody at Wimbledon is in total shock Novak Djokovic is out but

:58:33.:58:35.

Murray has got the business done on Centre Court with another straight

:58:36.:58:40.

sets victory. He is through to the fourth round. And to the delight of

:58:41.:58:45.

everybody on Centre Court and sporting superstars in the Royal

:58:46.:58:50.

box. Back to the big story. Novak Djokovic going out to the big

:58:51.:58:54.

serving American Sam Querrey. It ended in the fourth set and we will

:58:55.:58:59.

relive the drama of the closing stages, joining the fourth set

:59:00.:59:03.

tie-break at 3-3 with Djokovic to serve and Andrew Castle and Tim

:59:04.:59:04.

Henman were watching. I am pretty sure this did not even

:59:05.:59:23.

touch the line, it was so far inside it.

:59:24.:59:54.

So much eye contact in this match between Djokovic and Boris Becker

:59:55.:00:01.

and his camp up there. Would love to have heard their conversations

:00:02.:00:07.

during the breaks, especially the last one.

:00:08.:00:19.

He's really on the edge, now. Two points for Querrey on his serve.

:00:20.:00:51.

Ooh, and bats away, too. -- that's away. Whatever happens Querrey will

:00:52.:01:04.

have a match point on his own delivery, but here's one against the

:01:05.:01:08.

two-time defending champion, number one seed.

:01:09.:01:19.

He's challenging the call, Querrey. Probably just to buy himself a

:01:20.:01:27.

little extra time. So. It's been over a year since anybody

:01:28.:01:43.

was able to beat Djokovic at one of these major championships. Is this

:01:44.:01:46.

the point? He's done it! Massive win for Sam

:01:47.:02:14.

Querrey. Massive shock for Wimbledon 2016. There will be no Novak

:02:15.:02:23.

Djokovic in week two at Wimbledon. It's all about slamming Sam! STUDIO:

:02:24.:02:31.

And Djokovic has gone down in a barrage of aces from the big serving

:02:32.:02:35.

American. Djokovic looked listless and strangely out of sorts. Usually

:02:36.:02:40.

so aggressive but not today, so what was wrong with the world number one?

:02:41.:02:44.

Let's find out. This is what he had to say after the match.

:02:45.:02:48.

Congratulations to Sam, you played a terrific match. He serves very well,

:02:49.:02:54.

as he usually does. I think that part of his game was brutal today.

:02:55.:03:00.

He made a lot of free points with the first served. And just well

:03:01.:03:05.

done. He overpowered me. Were you 100% healthy? Not really but this is

:03:06.:03:11.

not the time and place to talk about it. Again, the opponent was playing

:03:12.:03:18.

on a very high level and deserved to win. Well yeah, again, I don't want

:03:19.:03:24.

to take anything out of victory from my opponent today, he played very

:03:25.:03:28.

well and deserved to win. I had my chances may be in the fourth set

:03:29.:03:32.

serving for the set, tie-breaker I was leading. But just wasn't feeling

:03:33.:03:39.

the ball as well as I wished. But that sport. How might this impact

:03:40.:03:44.

your decision about Davis Cup? I'm not going to play Davis Cup. It's an

:03:45.:03:51.

amazing feeling, obviously, to be able to hold four grand times at the

:03:52.:03:56.

same time, coming into Wimbledon, I knew that mentally it's not going to

:03:57.:04:06.

be easy to re-motivate myself. But the importance of this tournament is

:04:07.:04:11.

so immense that you always find ways to really get inspired and prepare

:04:12.:04:16.

and tried to give your best. Obviously my best was not enough

:04:17.:04:21.

this year. We saw you practising on court 14 this morning and you did

:04:22.:04:25.

not seem yourself. What was your thinking this morning? I just don't

:04:26.:04:30.

want to talk about it, please respect that, thank you. How do you

:04:31.:04:35.

think you are going to deal with this? What's the best way for you to

:04:36.:04:42.

deal with the disappointment? Well, thankfully I have a family and I

:04:43.:04:45.

have a life outside of tennis, so there are plenty of things to look

:04:46.:04:52.

forward to. I will obviously paid more attention to those things than

:04:53.:04:55.

tennis in the next period, and I need it. It's been a very successful

:04:56.:05:00.

year so far but a very long and exhausting one. In every sense of

:05:01.:05:05.

that word. So I just need some rest. STUDIO: He has been the Superman of

:05:06.:05:10.

tennis in the last 12 months but today proving he is human and not

:05:11.:05:14.

really wanting to open up. We watched that practice session this

:05:15.:05:17.

morning as well and he did not look himself. Anyway, he doesn't want to

:05:18.:05:22.

talk about it, he has his reasons. But a big, big shock today. We'll

:05:23.:05:27.

have more tennis, we are leaving BBC One but there will be more tennis

:05:28.:05:31.

right the way through the evening on BBC Two and a highlights programme

:05:32.:05:34.

tonight at 8:30pm with Claire and the team. And then tomorrow we'll be

:05:35.:05:39.

back for People's Sunday. All the tickets have gone, but you can join

:05:40.:05:46.

us at 11:15am. Some singles matches and of course the doubles to catch

:05:47.:05:51.

up as well. So the sun is shining here at Wimbledon but we are still

:05:52.:05:55.

reeling from a massive shock. Yes, the unthinkable has happened. Novak

:05:56.:06:00.

Djokovic is out. The world number one will not feature in the second

:06:01.:06:10.

28-year-old Sam Querrey looking to cause the upset of the tournament,

:06:11.:06:15.

of the year. That is it. Djokovic has had a terrible time out there.

:06:16.:06:18.

Djokovic two sets down. # Been in the dark for weeks

:06:19.:06:40.

# And I realise you are all I need # I hope that I'm not too late

:06:41.:06:50.

#. He's done it! A shock for Wimbledon
