Middle Sunday, Part 2 Wimbledon

Three times in 139 years, these loans have witnessed something

magical. Now, it is happening again. This is Wimbledon, but different.

Today, we open on the middle Sunday for the first time in history. They

come from far and wide for a chance, a special chance, to claim a seat at

this hallowed ground. Are you mad? Yes. There is something in the air

that makes the old feel young and sprinkles stardust on the great and

good. It is a day of Magic, a time to celebrate. This is people's

Sunday. Welcomer to the All-England Club

which is hosting 22,000 tennis fans can only buy their tickets yesterday

afternoon. There has been no overnight queueing with tickets sold

online. Many fans were at your early because it was a first,, first

served basis for seat allocation on the show courts. There aren't too

many people on the outside courts because there are only 4000 ground

passes offered for sale. This is only the fourth time there has been

played on this middle Sunday so it is all about catching up. Good

afternoon. This first week of rain has meant we are behind. There are

still 12 third round matches in the championships. Hopefully, by the end

of the day, weather permitting, we will be back on track. Of those

singles matches that have to be completed to get to the fourth

round. Serena Williams is on Centre Court at the moment against

anti-Quebec. Following on, the 19-year-old everyone is talking

about taking on Tomas Berdych. Over on Court number one, Sloan Stevens

just one game away from defeating her opponent. Following on, a match

that needs to be completed. Kyrgios and Lopez, two of the big servers.

Other matches will be following. John Isner is on court at the

moment. Del Potro is leading in his match

when they resume. The first week has been all about the weather, apart

from the first day, we have had rain showers every day. That is why we

are here. Let's find out what is in prospect for the coming week. It has

been so far so good. More like summer out there. The top of my head

has had a little too much sun already. Have a look at the radar

picture. There have been like showers not too far away. There is

still a risk but a good chance we will have a completely dry day

today. It is a bit warmer than yesterday so we are looking at 21 or

22 degrees. If you are coming along to Wimbledon tomorrow, it looks like

it should be dry as well. The room looks like it will stay away. Warmer

than today. It turns quite muddy. It looks like the second week of

Wimbledon will be much, much drier than the first week. That is good

news for everybody. Thank you very much. Thank you. We will be going to

live tennis in a moment but they got underway at half 11 here on Sunday

and we have a couple of results. First, from centre court. The big

power player from the United States, she has put out Roberto Vinci 6-3,

6-4. She is through tomorrow to face the Russian he came 36-3, 6-2.

Celebrating her birthday today. She is 25. What a lovely present, in

straight sets victory out on court. This much is on the red button on

Court one. Sloan Stevens was just serving but she has been broken why

her experienced Russian opponent. If you want to follow that much, it is

on the red button. Over on Court two, we will be joining this one

shortly on BBC Two. John Isner against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Isner

won the first two sets yesterday and Tsonga won the third. Tsonga has

been dominating today. At the moment it is one set all in the fifth and

final match. Here we are heading the centre court to see Serena Williams.

She was an early break of serve down but she has come back strongly. She

has taken the set 6-3 and has a break of serve against her opponent,

back. This match as been a nervous show so

far. To be on the end of the power play from Serena Williams too much

of the time is tough. It does feel this is too tall of a task for an

Echo back today. Serena doesn't even look like she has even been pushed.

In the early stages of the first set, Serena had a couple of mistakes

that helped her opponent get on board.

For Grand Slams championships each year, this is the third, after the

French with the US open this summer in New York. Serena has won 299

matches in grand slam. You can't only win seven return which she has

done plenty of times, 21 times. -- seven in one tournament. That has

been one of the big stories last year in tennis. Serena Carter 21st,

wondering when she would get 22 to tie with Steffi Graf. -- Serena got

her 21st. How come she has only played five

tournaments and non-last year after the US open and the disappointment

of that semifinal loss? After losing to Roberto Vinci, two matches short

of a calendar grand slam, it took so much out of Serena. Just the focus

of trying to win the grand slam. It was more under the radar when Steffi

accomplished that. Serena was fatigued and didn't play another

tournament until January. She was fatigued more mentally and

emotionally and physically. Mentally and emotionally than physically.

That would knock you over. One thing to remember is that Serena has

playing consistently for four years, whereas before that it was off and

on the tour. Some of those breaks are white she has lasted to 34.

A very happy Serena Williams to use the slice backhand. Sure it has such

control of this much that she feels she can experiment and take some

enjoyment out of trying something a bit different. What does she do when

she takes these months after? Does she go on talk shows, do anything

like that? She is such a big star in the US. She has so many passions.

She was in a Beyonce video, dancing very well. She has a clothing line

that she excels on home shopping networks. She makes appearances. She

is always on social media. I think she just needed to recharge your

batteries and start fresh in 2016. At 34 she realises she has two extra

tournaments. She doesn't need a lot to need up to tournaments and she

played in Australia and got to the finals there. Didn't play any warm

up tournaments. She hasn't played a tournament in about three and a half

months. She is cutting down her schedule and trying to stay fresh.

After long second round and explored first week because of so much rain,

this is a good match for Serena to have today. It isn't pushing her too

much physically. Playing doubles yesterday helped. It was a fantastic

match. So many people trying to get onto that court. It was great

entertainment. It was Venus Williams, her sister,

who brought the name Williams to global attention and outside of the

sport. The 1997 US open, 17 years old and she got to the final.

Wonderful to see. It is an amazing story. There was a

film about her. A film came out about Serena in the last couple of

months. She was actually a part of,

following her year last year, on tour. That is unlucky, Alnwick are

back. -- Annika Beck. Annika, getting a little beat up on court

today. A former junior champion. Solidly in the top 50, but

outmatched at the moment. Actually, an extremely talented and

well conditioned athlete herself, Annika Beck, but just 2% short in

every area. She does not look like five foot seven. Not enough heft

behind her shots. Again, that is good work from the

German, to make Williams play the extra ball. But she did, and she put

it away. She is just reacting today. It is tough. Too good.

It may be people Sunday, but we are going to need some more tennis at

some point. The first couple of matches have gone quite quickly. The

two women's matches. There is meant's managed follow. I hope there

is plenty of tennis left over for the crowd. They love being here. The

first time since 2004 that we have had this middle Sunday. It is the

best day of weather as well. Beautiful. I saw somebody putting on

suncream. Lovely stuff. Serena Williams getting on the front foot

really quickly. I have to say hello to someone. I cannot find them.

Stacey is here today. She has had a really hard time. She has had a

double lung and heart transplant. As you can imagine, she has been

through lots. She is in here somewhere, and I said I would say

hello. Good luck, I hope you're enjoying it and this is a member. A

great story, Stacey. UMPIRE: Game, set and match. It is

her 300th match victory in grand champion spirit -- grand slam

champion chips for Serena Williams. She advances into the second week. A

good tournament, Annika Beck. Serena, saluted by the crowd. That

breaks the tie with the great Chris Evert on 299 victories. Next on

target, Martina Navratilova. Serena will not be able to break that

record here. Serena progress from Serena. A good tournament from

Annika Beck, into the third round at Wimbledon for the first time,

following her fourth round at the French Open champion chips. Her

progress continues. She will take much from this, but the sheer

presence as well as the game of Serena Williams give her too much to

do. Much has been made of Novak Djokovic

Jonny May and's side holding all four grand slams at the same time.

Serena has done it on two occasions, one of the great achievements, three

Olympic golds, she won on this playmaker -- court, London 2012 as

well. Two Serena slams that she talks about. That means a lot to

her. A special that is. She was two matches shy of a calendar year grand

slam last year. She is number one in the women's gay man she continues to

break records. In the absence of Maria Sharapova, and we will see

what happens with that situation. Victoria Azarenka is missing as

well. She is by far the favourite to win this tournament. A meant's match

will come onto this tournament now. We will see Tomas Berdych playing

against Alexander Zverev. Serena Williams advances. Less than one

hour in court. 6-3, 6-0. Serena Williams talking to Gary Richardson.

Congratulations on a great performance. What is your

assessment? I thought it was good. I want to get a faster start but I was

focused and composed today. What was it like on Centre Court on Sunday.

You have done more with things at Wimbledon but you have never played

on a Sunday? Even though you were here the last time. Yes, I was here,

but I have never played. It was nice. I'll having the Sunday off but

I am behind in my matches so I guess I had to play an extra day.

Hopefully you will not have to play on Monday. You have done Monday,

haven't you? Yes, I have done a third Monday before. Hopefully it

will end on the Sunday this year. Did you know that was years 300

career grand slam victory? Was it? I did not know. That is awesome. That

is a lot of matches. That is a lot of victories at Wimbledon. Thank you

very much. Serena, that is more than awesome. An incredible record she

has. She still wants to compete. She loves playing the game, putting in

the training at the age of 34, one of the greatest champions, if not

the greatest champion of all time. Certainly the greatest server that

we have seen. Serena Williams is through to the fourth round again.

Much easier pass-through than her last match, where she was taking the

distance. Serena Williams marching at Wimbledon. Let's get further

reaction from our commentators, Tracy Austin and Andrew Castle.

Tracy, that was very impressive, more of the Serena of old?

Absolutely. Very comprehensive. She did not get a lot from Annika Beck.

She does not have the weapons or the power. Even in the second round

against Christina McHale, she pushed Serena Williams much bigger serve.

More power, both wings. Today it seemed that Serena did not even seem

to need to get into third gear. She was cruising. She is building away

into the tournament like we have seen her done so many times. With

all the catching up and the Long she had against Christina McHale, she

will be happy to have this one out of the way in under 60 minutes? The

only time she loses as when she makes mistakes, unless someone plays

the match of their life. She made some mistakes, but the match against

Christina McHale has sharpened her up. No fuss for Serena. Going

forward, it is hard to see someone beating if she cuts down the

mistakes. She is able to get the first strike in so often against the

many different types of player. When she is up in the rally, when she's

seeing it well, it is very hard to make inroads. It must be lovely,

going out on court, knowing that you're the person who is dictating

who is going to win. She needs to have a big of day. You need to have

weapons to get her on the back foot somehow? Yes, and play the match of

your life. We have seen last year, and at the US Open, where nerves

show up. I do not know if that is her being 34, the end of her career,

she is not retiring, but she must be somewhere close. She is trying to

choose the record of Steffi Graf, to get to 22. She played a nervous

match against Roberta Vinci last year in the semifinals of the US

Open. A little bit on a still you might as well. There were some

points were Serena backed away at the French against Garbine Muguruza.

Maybe at Wimbledon she will get her 22nd. She feels so comfortable on

the grass. So few other players really feel at their best. Not only

because it is such an awkward surface to play and move on. 50% of

competing on the surfaces inside the mind and making sure you feel

confident. I cannot believe she did not know the record she got. So

many. 300. That is amazing. Martina Navratilova will be the next one to

fall. Players think about records. It would not surprise anyone in the

game of Serena is considered the greatest in the game. Her serve is

the best I have ever seen. Absolutely, no doubt. The power, the

placement in all four corners. Being able to come up with a big serve

when it counts. Her second serve is underrated and not talked about

enough. Thank you. Serena Williams is through, but who will she played?

She will play the winner of the match on Court one between Sloane

Stephens and Svetlana Kuznetsova. This is tight. We will join it at

6-6 in the third and final set. Our commentators are Lindsay Davenport

and Jonathan over end. That looked a little weedy, that

forehand from Stevens. She definitely does not look as

confident order as sure as herself as she did earlier in the set.

You sense a big chance Merthyr Kuznetsov. There is a massive

discrepancy in the pace of the shots from both players. Sloane has

stopped swinging. Kuznetsova is looking to make things happen.

Look at this. Look at this. 0- 40 on the Stephen serve. She was so close

to victory. Now, a break point down. Why did Kuznetsova go for that shot?

Someone in the crowd just yelled out, do not do that again.

The Russian has completely flipped this final set. She is now about to

serve for the match. She is no stranger to log matches. She put one

in the Austrian open five and a half years ago. It launched the record

for the longest match. 16-14 in the final set.

What should Stevens do now? Should she try something different? It is

all in head. She will have to muster up a lot of positive energy here.

All of a suddenly she stopped going forward, she froze in the moment.

Maybe now she will get more relaxed and play some offensive tennis.

Just her second double fault of the Long March. Pressure. Pressure. -- a

long match. Good shot. Not a bad idea from

Stevens to put the pressure on but that approach weight to in the

middle of the court. A nice on that backhand.

Stevens has been to points away from victory.

Though, it is edge of the seat stuff. It is always of the highest

quality. This is tense. It is tight. Stevens has done very well there.

Butterflies will have been fluttering all around that volley.

And that backhand pass. Break back point.

The line judge has called it out. The umpire backing up what a line

judge has called. So surprised she did not challenge

that. There are isn't just tension in the

strings of the rackets, it is in the players too. Finally, after two

hours and 28 minutes we reach match point. The match point falls to the

Russian, Kuznetsova. That is the match. That is the

match. Kuznetsova has come back in the final set to win it in two and a

half hours. Really nice to see the embrace

between the two of them. That was quite a battle. Really good friends

on the tour and an important victory for Svetlana Kuznetsova. She will

face Serena Williams, the number one seed tomorrow. Heading off to quite

want in a moment but first, news about Del Potro is out of the

tournament, losing to the 32nd seed and losing this fourth set 6-1. This

match was held over from yesterday. Del Potro and stand Wawrinka. Maybe

too much tennis for him. He has played three days in a row and has

missed so many grand slams, and in total but it is good to see him back

on the world stage. Over on Court number two, this is a battle. John

is now, 6-5 up in the fifth and final set against Tsonga. You can

see this match live. Now we are going to see an attractive match,

Lopez up against Nick Kyrgios, two of the big servers, two great

entertainers. They were on Court yesterday. Let's have a look at some

of the key moments from yesterday. This has the makings of a really

interesting contest. What a rally. What a rally. That might be the best

point he has played this week. That stuff is nasty. Brilliant. Brilliant

from Kyrgios. Look at that celebration.

That was one of the great exchanges you will ever see on a tennis court.

Look at that reaction. There is going to be a huge roar here if

Lopez wins this point. And he does. The Wii play on? No, we are done.

There are really were some lovely moments in that match yesterday.

Kyrgios suffering from a nose bleed through that first set but he is

back and Kyrgios reached the third round of the Australian and French

opens, can he go one better, 1-1 against the left-hander from Spain

who has reached the quarterfinals here three times. It is the grand

slam he has had his best results at. In the commentary box it is John

Lloyd. This is the match because of the cast you have just been alluding

to. We have the veteran gladiatorial, dashing Spaniard and

the dastardly Brilliant terror of the men's game. By the nature of the

crowd, many of whom have never been to Wimbledon, just taking a straw

poll, so excited to see these two people, just by the nature of their

personalities, their charisma, there looks as well and what they bring to

the gym. There is a real pottable sense of excitement. Absolutely. You

have two great shot makers and two great characters, especially the one

who will serve now. You'd never know what he will do.

That is the slowest he will ever serve in the match.

Never a dull moment. A couple of days ago he said, mate, we are on a

stage. We are actors. He sure is. It is going to be interesting to see

whose side the crowd is on because it is a very different crowd from

last night. Because there were one or two who were touting a bit at

what Kyrgios was doing. This is a different crowd watching. A lot less

touting. The 16th ace of the match for

Kyrgios. Two huge servers here, but they also provide great rallies.

Kyrgios lands the first blow on the second day. Use from that montage

that we had the match resumed that there was one point yesterday when

they were laughing at each other in the middle of a rally in the court,

which was fantastic. The atmosphere and the only answer between these

two and the umpire, Pascal. I have to say, that is Lopez saying, you

have got to do that slightly more regulation fashion. That was before

we began. One of the best of all yours on the

tour, Feliciano Lopez. One of the best slice back and approaches as

well, which enables him to get setup for those of volleys. -- one of the

best players at playing volleys on the tour.

Worth seeing about Lopez going into the net, he actually lost the point

on the first six occasions he did that yesterday. I presume it did not

keep him from coming, though. No, he kept coming.

Never mind the slice and the volley, this is one of the great service

actions. It is just fantastic. He snatched at this one. Typical of the

big servers. They do not serve as many aces as real heavy hitters, but

it is such a relaxed motion. You know he can serve for eight hours a

day and not get tired. There is no effort involved.

There is some serious grunting going on already. Just two game, the

sequel to the blockbuster from last night. I am saying what a fantastic

service action that is. The game we were talking about last night, it

does bear repetition. This is the 39th consecutive grand slam, sorry,

the 59th grand slam that Lopez has played in. It means he is second

only behind Roger Federer. That is an extraordinary testament

to the way he has looked after himself. A bit of luck as well, that

he has not been injured, that it is an amazing achievement. 14 and a

half years or so. He does not do that very often, serve- volley. Just

throwing in a little surprise. He spotted it.

One thing you will see, Lopez already looking up at his box. He

will be taking as much time as he can between points, to try and get

the Kyrgios rhythm out of sorts. The interaction between the players

and their boxes was extraordinary last night. Lopez, for some peculiar

reason, and Peter Fleming, he was in your seat yesterday, he could not

understand why it Lopez was berating his box, whether he won or lost the

point, between every point. Kyrgios was sometimes sullen and sometimes

manic. I do not know if both boxes have had enough. They have actually

swap today. Perhaps they are hoping that the players have not noticed.

What are you shouting at me for? Lopez has already started. I would

love to your what he says. It is in Spanish, so I would not understand.

Is he saying he has missed three or four balls, it is his fault. Is he

saying they have worked on the wrong things? It is his fault. They have

just started the match and he has given them look silly or four times.

It is amazing. A lot more than it used to be, constant licking. And

the women's tour, even more so. They are allowed to have coaches on other

than at the grand slams. These are two of the biggest servers. One of

the key factors may be the first service percentage that these guys

manage in the outcome of the game. For Lopez, it is only 55%. For

Kyrgios, it is more than 80%. That was extraordinary. That was a

perfectly good second serve that Kyrgios put into the net, and Lopez

glowers at his box. That is his second one already

today. Is that the extreme grip that cause is that? Yes. Lots of the

spectators are saying, I do that now and again.

We are rushing through these third set. -- the third set.

On average, three minutes per game, but actually, Kyrgios won a game of

38 seconds on Wednesday. He had to be careful there, didn't

he? Yes, he had to put the brakes on.

He did not need to do that. That was showboating. It makes him fun to

watch. The problem is, he could do that at 4-4, 30-30, and lose the set

because of it. He could have run around that. Of course heated. He

could have put up a lob, and at least he would have been in the

point. Well, Lopez charging the net. He could have been up 30-0, perhaps,

I know he is down, 15-30. He gave himself not much of a chance of

making that one between his legs, but it is great to watch.

I know it seems ridiculous to say that there are 130 mph service, and

there are 130 mph service, but it seems so much heavier. There is so

much weight behind the ball. I agree. We saw it there. That was a

big point, and he served 116 mph on the second serve, about half an inch

from the line. He has total faith in his delivery.

126 mph, right on the service line. No sign of a break of serve so far.

It is so extraordinary, Kyrgios, the speed that he takes between points.

I was trying to think back, have I ever seen anybody who is that quick,

that does not give themselves any time to adjust after playing a bad

point, or a good point? The only one I can think of is in the women's

game, Steffi Graf. She was like lightning. It did not do her much

harm. It is a different thing for different people. Normally, after

you play a couple of bad points, you like to settle, readjust, let your

opponent think about it, but he just gets on with it. If you spend too

long over a five foot putt-mac, you're more likely to miss because

you keep looking for borrowers and the green that are not there. If you

take between ten or 20 seconds and a grand slam, on every point, that is

a long time to start thinking about this and the other, what if you just

get on with it, you just get on with it. That is another argument. You do

not see it that quick, but it has worked for him pretty well so far.

There is a groan from Kyrgios, because he knew the was not going to

get there. You would have thought he would have had enough practice and

is in the previous round, against Dustin Brown. Kyrgios must have had

about 20 drop volleys coming towards him and he hardly made any of them.

You would think he would be more aware of that. Lopez's touch

deserted him on that half volley. My word. He hit it straight into the

ground and it went straight into his chin.

Goodness me. Hate it little bit harder please! -- hit it. This was

the serve. It goes straight up into his chin, or not content with that,

he blitzed that winner past Lopez. This is the first semi chance in the

third set. He has done it again. That felt like

a massive point from the moment Lopez served. It might turn out to

be very important. Lopez looked at his camp after this. He played

almost the perfect point. It was a wonderful approach shot. Sometimes

you just have to say, to did. Two break points.

-- too good. And a look at a second serve for Kyrgios.

Yes, he will be disappointed with that. It was a good second serve,

but Lopez was not coming in. He had enough time to get the ball back

into play decently, and second serve, break point, he needs to take

advantage of that. That is the way to save a break

point. It is Lopez compared to 18 for Kyrgios. Make that nine.

Lopez was in real father there. -- bother. He served himself out of it.

Kyrgios's match against Brown which was five sets, the longest rally in

that match was six shots. It was ridiculous. We have had some

tremendous, cat and mouse rallies in this match. This might be another

one. What a rally. Lopez just overcooked

it. He is challenging the call, but I think he knows. I think he just

wants to get his breath back. Kyrgios with his tongue hanging out,

panting. I think he was happy there was a challenge. You may breathe at

home, after that. Having just said the longest rally against Dustin

Brown was six shots, that one was 35.

The thing is, we had such a fantastic exhibition of backgrounds

and forehands for 43 shots, or whatever it was, then Lopez played

that wonderful little paddle shot. If it had been a quarter of an inch

in the court it would have been a magnificent exhibition of touch and

feel. Kyrgios looked like he would never miss at this point and then

you think Lopez is the favourite now and he just needs to punch it deep

and just misses it. It would have been a perfect shot, otherwise he

was in total command of the net. Worst case scenario, he needed an

overhead but it was a wonderful point and both players are playing

so well to come out firing. Both have different styles, but Kyrgios,

he is working his way through the baseline. Lopez looking to get in

during his rallies. Not easy when Kyrgios visiting with such length

and he is at the moment. It is cat and mouse. The heavy slice from

Lopez, trying to hit it long. Good tennis on a lovely summer Sunday

afternoon. That looked like dinner and

raspberry ice cream to me. -- vanilla. Kyrgios is interesting

because he says great servant to Lopez there. You don't get players

sent that often. -- saying. Just leans into that two-handed

backhand on the return. Just feeds of the speed of the short backswing.

He was there for it. Gesticulating to his coaching team to gain. I said

earlier on, he is one of the best of all years of the game, but to buy

Follies here. The first one cost. He should have made that. That was his

fault, he had a terrible folly. That is the break. That is what it

means to Kyrgios. Some serious verbals from Lopez as well. And the

Aussie crew are feeling pretty happy now. 5-3 in this third set. He is a

man who has served 18 aces as well, serving 42-1 lead.

Kyrgios, at the moment, from the baseline is just looking so solid.

He just looks like he isn't going to miss at the moment.

Now that is the curse of a commentator, writ large. He looked a

bit lazy about that ball, didn't bend down low enough.

He was berating himself at one point last night. Saying you are lazy, you

are lazy. It is something he is aware of. Two points from a 2-1

lead. Set point for Kyrgios. A lot of

muttering at the Spanish end. 131 miles an hour, that was. Lopez

goes long. And Kyrgios goes into the lead. He will be pleased but Lopez

will be disappointed, I suspect, with one or two aspects of that sad.

Just a couple of volleys, but overall, when Mick Kyrgios plays

like this and is in this kind of mood, that was the sort of set of

tennis where you can see he is a potential grand slam winner. The

problem is can he sustain it for four hours when necessary? He hasn't

done that so far but he is on a learning curve. If he can keep the

fun and declared that he has, because we don't want to lose that,

but he is to realise that Sullivan is, percentage-wise, mental

strength, you happen to have that if you are going to win seven matches

to win a grand slam. You cannot go in and out of it with big dips and

that is what we have seen so far. When he is on like that, he is a joy

to watch. If he was to win this match and that would give us a

Kyrgios, Andy Murray match tomorrow. When the numbers are in yellow it

shows that that player has the better statistics than his opponent

and that was an exclusively yellow set of features for Mick Kyrgios.

That was a magnificent set of tennis, in its totality. Well, Lopez

goes back to the far end and he won't have quite so far to look up

to his coaching team there. That is them, just above the scoreboard.

Goodness me. That was either excellent judgment or a monumental

misjudgement. And it was most definitely the latter.

Well, congratulations for Kyrgios for running that down, but the game,

the volley. Not his best game. Made it too obvious, Kyrgios there,

plenty of time to spare. From that distance you should not be getting

too bad so easily. The volley should have been shorter of the court than

that. of the I think he Miss A Dyrtn

volleyer little bit. He got away with it. -- I think he miss hit that

volley a little bit. Lopez is wobbling a bit at the moment.

Really wobbling. His third double fault and a break point right at the

start of this fourth set for Nick Kyrgios. In marked contrast to

Kyrgios, Lopez taking his time. He cannot buy a first serve in this

game. Barely 50% first server issue at the moment. -- first serve ratio.

How about that? Kyrgios was saying, go on then, pass me. Not quite

enough on this approach shot. He did not go through the court on the

slice. It was an excellent passing shot.

In he comes again, but this time he makes it. He needs to hold this

game, doesn't he? Yes. The way that Kyrgios is playing at the moment.

Just to make the point, Lopez gently dollies a second ball over the net.

That is why you cannot take your eyes off Kyrgios. I think Lopez has

realised he is not supposed to be sitting down at this changeover. He

has just been told by the umpire, you cannot sit down. I think he

thinks it is 2-1. He forgot the score. Maybe that was just relief at

holding his serve. Well, not much you can do about

that. That was a second serve at 129 mph.

Really? The first one almost decapitating the photographer in the

corner. That one almost took out a line judge.

You see, he is feeding off the adrenaline. He likes the crowd, the

crowd into it, then he goes for another big one, and serves a

double. He is reacting to what is around him. He a showman. The

fastest serve on this court so far, 136 mph. That was clever because he

took some pace off that. 118. He is thinking.

They are having a conversation about how many balls run the court. For no

of use reason. -- balls are on the court.

A ball has suddenly reappeared, as if by magic. There it is. Well

spotted by whoever it is that spotted that.

Here goes Lopez, and there are goes Kyrgios. He actually did the right

thing in terms of reading the passing shots from Kyrgios on the

backhand side. They have almost all gone crosscourt. He edged over that

way, and Kyrgios said, OK, and poked it down the line. The ball that has

got embedded in one of her camera positions, camera two, I think it

has been replaced. It has been replaced by another ball of similar

vintage. Well... To me, that looked like a

tired volley. I know we have only just tattooed this match, but he did

not get down. They have played lots of tennis. He had a five set match

and came back from two down against Fabio Fognini two days ago. This is

the argument as well about playing doubles. The game and the spectators

at large lament the fact that the big names do not play doubles any

more, but there is a good reason for that.

Also, the doubles, until the rain trouble, it is the best-of-5 sets.

The other grand slams are best-of-3. You can have a long match.

Did he just take his eye off that? The shot was mishit, but the spend

it not look like it made much of the movement. He looked down at the SW19

full -- he looked down at the court. Of course, you always do that if you

get a bad bounce. It would have been tough to have hit

a passing shot from that distance. It was a good pick-up.

Par Mr Lopez is challenging the call on the right service line.

If that was long, it is his fourth double fault. Kyrgios is walking to

the chair. He can hand his towel back, because it was long.

Goodness me. What a shot. Brilliance like that. It was a very good

approach, lots of slice, lots of bite on that one. He kept it low.

That is the sarcasm. He is looking at his box.

Look at that. Look at that again. Real power from Kyrgios. Lopez was

always struggling. Kyrgios is heading for Murray.

STUDIO: Yes, I match against Britain's number one beckons for

Nick Kyrgios. We will be back to court one in just a moment. Richard

in the championship and playing the best tennis of his career. He is

through to the next round, where he will meet the winner of the match

Wimbledon. They have already been on for more than four hours. That

matches on BBC Two. On Centre Court, Alexander Zverev against Tomas

Berdych. It is on serve in the second set. The 19-year-old from

Germany want to watch for the future. That match is available on

the red button. That is what is happening elsewhere. Let's go back

to court one. Kyrgios has the break in the fourth

set, and he is leading, 2-1. He is showing no sign at all of his serve

being broken. He has to come in on that type of

shot. That is his game. It would be silly for him to stay back and try

to beat Kyrgios from the baseline. That is not going to happen.

You can see the difference in power from the baseline. Lopez cannot stay

with him long enough in these rallies. He is getting me out wide

on the backhand. -- he is getting moved out wide.

Not that fast, but deadly accurate. 21 aces. Last night, Kyrgios was a

bit distracted, but he is not distracted today.

Goodness me. Hero Ely is playing a brilliant match. His match against

Dustin Brown, the previous match, his focus was up and down the whole

time, but they were trying to outdo each other. Dustin Brown can hit the

most spectacular shots. It has been all business today.

That was a brilliant approach shot from Lopez.

It was a very conservative winner. He just struggled, Lopez, to hit

that type of shot against Kyrgios. It has not happened so far today.

As long as Kyrgios keeps serving like that, he is heading to the next

round. If he continues at this level, the concentration and the

focus, then Andy Murray will be in for a tough match. I know Andy

Murray is a different level than Lopez, but this is controlled

aggression right now. Shot selection, he is playing the

percentages, when he needs to. The thing is, you almost feel as if

this match is on Kyrgios's racket. Well, he was talking after missing

the first serve and he is talking even more after missing the second.

He is not happy with the server today. The coaches saying, what am I

supposed to do? I didn't throw the ball up and hit the bottom of the

net. Five double faults from Lopez. His first serve percentage is around

about one in two. That is not good enough against a man like Kyrgios.

Two consecutive double faults. Goodness me. They are not of that is

the pressure Kyrgios has been putting on him. -- a lot of that.

The crowd getting on Kyrgios's psyche because they want this to

continue. That is five faults in a row.

That will make him feel marginally better. Can Kyrgios when this whole

thing? Or, at some point, with his level dropped because he cannot play

at this level because of the personality that he is for long

enough to get through to one week today? I would think at the moment

he is not capable of playing the seven matches, though this would be

his third, to one of the tournament. He will have too many dips. At the

moment, if he could play like this for the last two sets, yes. I just

don't think it is there yet. He is so exciting to watch though and if

he can channel this type of aggression and variety and have fun

but to the business like today, if he can do this then, if he continues

like this at the end of the match, his coach and people around him will

give him a ten out of ten. But we haven't finished yet. Let's see if

he can keep this level up and not have a dip. We haven't been playing

for two hours and 18 minutes, as you can see from the scoreboard. Only 40

odd minutes of that was this afternoon. While last night was

really one way, one way this way, one way that way, this has been all

one way since they resent this afternoon as far as Mick is

concerned. That kind of an error at the end of

the baseline rally has been rare from the Australian.

75% of first serves in this match. 74% is his average in the

tournament. That is incredible serving. If he can keep that up...

A quiet air of resignation seems to be descending over Lopez at the

moment. 23 aces and there is nothing you can

do about that. Short of the standing there and saying serve it at me. His

variety has been good, Lopez has not been able to read the serve right.

As you said, he just looks like he doesn't know how to find a way

today. But just holding his serve, he might get one more serve to

break. You just don't know with him. We have become so used to seeing him

at Queen's were he has had good runs and at Wimbledon here. He has

reached the last 16 times. Lopez is under so much pressure from Kyrgios,

the whole time. I think they are both challenging,

if there is such a thing. Kyrgios asked of Lopez's coach if it was

good enough? It would be funny if he had asked the Spanish coach if he

should challenge or not. Now we have the ultimate extension of the era.

Isn't that a wonderful shot from our camera position, looking about that

blue sky. We haven't seen much of that this week and wouldn't be great

if weather-wise this kick-started its second week where that is what

the images were like. It has been a bit, let's be honest, Wimbledon is

wonderful and it has been great, but it has been a big grizzly and a big

white and a bit miserable and it needs a day like this and eight

match like this. If this match could ignite now, if Lopez could get back

into this, to really make Wimbledon the like it should.

Lopez upped the ante a fraction of there. It hasn't been easy for him

to force errors from the baseline but that had extra pace on the

forehand, taking in a few more chances. A good point for him. Time

is running out for the Spaniard. Well, you mentioned that he might

have one last chance to look at the Kyrgios serve and maybe this is it.

That was the third double fault that Kyrgios has served in this match.

Well, he decelerated on about passing shot. Two break points. The

first break points of the day. Against a Kyrgios serve for Lopez.

He gave another look at them. You didn't tell me to move there on

break point. What were you thinking? It is still break point.

That is the most outrageous yes. -- yes. Or it is a break of serve. It

is all their fault. Absolutely, it is their fault. 117 miles an hour on

a second point break down. Kyrgios didn't complain about

archiving, did he? Though. -- och aye. Just completely took him by

surprise and look at the roar from Kyrgios. 120 mph.

He knifed that one in and Kyrgios is littered with himself for that. That

was a real approach shot. I think he is more annoyed with the

backhand before that was sort of half court. It enabled Platt -- it

enabled Lopez to get in. It is the first time we have seen him a little

bit anxious. That was Lopez screaming at his box

again. As ace 26 goes down. Coming in, and past it goes. How on

earth do you play against that? Two break points, and ace out wide,

first serve, and that deuce, another ace.

Some of the big servers are not interesting to watch, but he is

compelling. He is going to be major box office. He already is. What a

tennis player, but what an athlete as well. You could see him playing

Aussie rules, whatever. He has got it.

You see how much pace he got off the forehand. He snapped his wrist. So

extreme, the pace that came out Lopez, he has not been able to take

aid of that shot at all. And you can see the spirit draining

out of the Spaniard now. That last game, with those break

opportunities, may have sapped his last sense of belief.

And if this is to be the end, I think the crowd would love to see

one more Nick Kyrgios service game. Not enough on that backhand volley.

He would normally be straight. He guided that first volley. That is

the consequence of the bludgeoning he has been getting during the

course of these two sets. Lopez on the ropes, taking punch after punch

from Nick Kyrgios. Is the Australian about to land one final knockout

blow? Nearly. So, for the second time, Nick

Kyrgios has a point for a place on the second Monday of Wimbledon 2016,

and the match that everyone will want to have a ticket to see. Nick

Kyrgios against Andy Murray. He nearly finished it in the

grandest manner. This is, or, Feliciano. It has not

quite reached the heights of last night, but it is still riveting. He

has played very much second fiddle so far.

He almost broke the net with that forehand. It would have been a

winner anyway. We keep talking about servers at 130 mph, and second

serves at 120. What sort of speed is a forehand like that going at? It is

around 90. He was a bit late getting around

that forehand. His feet were not moving. One more time, Binnie is

beautiful blue skies, is this to be the final point Ofwat has been an

enthralling act -- enthralling encounter between Nick Kyrgios and

Feliciano Lopez. A bit conservative on that return.

There he was. Plenty of time on that one. He just guided it back. Lopez

lives and, just. Now that is the Feliciano Lopez that

we are used to seeing at the grass courts of Wimbledon. A sensational

volley. He took off the pace. So, we shall have one more game.

What tricks can Kyrgios come up with? It is not over yet. He played

a couple of match points, a couple of returns, he was a bit tired on

those. He did not hit out like he normally does. This is for a place

in the last 16 of Wimbledon. He has not been around that long. This is a

big match. He got to the last 16 in his first year. He beat Rafael Nadal

in that extraordinary match. It is one of the statistics, you realise

with the passage of time, Lopez played his first grand slam event

when Kyrgios was six. So they are from different generations. Lopez is

keeping him waiting. It is like the changeover.

Here we go. Nick Kyrgios serving to meet Andy Murray, tomorrow

afternoon. It looked like he came up a little

on that backhand and was guiding it a bit. I thought he had just missed

it. Watch the way he comes out of the ball very early. It just crept

in. Lopez moved him -- Lopez moved to

the right, and Kyrgios needed no second opportunity. Straight down

the middle. At a mph, another ace. He is two points from victory.

Well played, Lopez. You thought about coming in a couple of times.

He hedged his bets. Strange, strange tactics from Kyrgios, to hit the

backhand half court. He almost wanted Lopez to come, and key give

him the opportunity. He did not hit the ball.

Just the Brit force of that. Lopez could not return it. For the fourth

time, but for the first time on his serve, this is Nick Kyrgios at match

point, for a place in the last 16 against Britain's Andy Murray.

UMPIRE: Warning, Mr Kyrgios. That is ridiculous. We can discuss that

after this point. It has gone long. Kyrgios is

through. Slightly hesitant at the end. But

for the most part on this glorious summer Sunday afternoon, he was

imperious. Look out, Andy Murray. This man is playing like a dream.

Lopez still chatting away to steam. Surely he has run out of things to

say by now you. It was a superb performance by the Australian. I

hate to think what would have happened if he had lost that point

with a time violation. Match point. What was the umpire thinking? How

about reading the circumstances of the match, at such a fast pace, why

get involved at that stage, why? It would have been interesting to have

seen how long he would have taken. So what? If you look at it

cumulatively, he takes ten seconds between each point. On this

occasion, he takes more, for a place against Andy Murray. Stay away from

that. It always takes two to make an enthralling game. Lopez is waiting

for Kyrgios to go off court. Part two of this match belonged almost

exclusively to the Australian. It is that kind of a date with that

kind of a crowd. Here at Wimbledon for the very first time because they

bought the tickets went on line yesterday. Everyone was able to log

on, get tickets. I met a couple from Wolverhampton who drove them this

morning. They said it was the most exciting day of their life. They had

been tennis fans for ever, they were in the ballot every year, and never

got tickets, they up on yesterday and they almost cried when they

realised they got two tickets. They got to see Kyrgios play a match like

that and they might have gotten to see a future grand slam winner

because that kind of form is impressive. So, there is the scorer.

The crowd on number one Court today saw an hour and a half of a

brilliant play, especially from this man. Nick, congratulations. What

pleased you most about how you played? My attitude. It was tough

heading there. After the darkness of yesterday, I had to come out quickly

and I knew he would jump on me from the get go and I thought they

started really well. I am really happy with how I played. I thought

the level of tennis was really high. He is not an easy player to play on

any surface. I am really pleased. Were you given a code violation for

a time delay? Obviously, it was a big moment. I wanted to take my time

in little bit, I wanted to loosen up. That is fine. Something else to

do with as well. A lack of understanding from the umpire, do

you think? Not at all. He gives me a little information earlier in the

match. It was strange. Usually I am pretty quick. It was fair enough. I

should speed up a little bit. Next up you will have Andy Murray. He

will have the crowd on site. Can you spot a British party? I think I can.

He is one of the best players in the brunt and he will be the favourite

since Novak is out. I've will go out and not do anything any different.

We are a great mates and he is a great guy and good player and I am

looking forward to it. Andy has had a straight run. You have played in

almost every condition here. Will that be a disadvantage? Yes and no.

I would have liked more recovery. I played three tough matches and I am

feeling confident. I played three tough competitors. I played on all

the services and play good tennis so I am looking forward to it. Andy

Murray on Centre Court, it will be great. He will be match ready. He

may be a controversial character but he is so watchable. He born

entertainer who looks at home on the big stage and I am sure he will be

on the biggest stage fall tomorrow, said the court to take on Andy

Murray, the British number one. So, Kyrgios is through. Let's take you

out to Court Number Two. This marathon may be drawing to a close.

He is Jo Wilfried Tsonga serving against John Isner. It is 18-17 in

the fifth and final set. That is live on BBC Two. We are heading to

Centre Court to seek this man, Tomas Berdych. He is in charge against the

19-year-old from Germany. 63 -- 6-3, 6-4. Burdick is very much in charge.

The teenager is ranked 28, the best teenager in the word. He is being

put in his place right now. Playing some clinical and very powerful

tennis. He has been very impressive. Zeverev is finding it very difficult

to make any inroads in his serve whatsoever.

Zverev will be a future star but probably not today, the way this is

going. Zverev has shocking problems trying

to break the Berdych serve. He has never really got near it. Serving

stats will tell you exactly. Zverev has not returned well and the

Berdych serve has been extraordinary. 66% of first serves

in that it is not that which is the crucial thing is, first serve

points, it is not even that it is vitally important. It is the second

serve, 79%. Usually you would see 58, made to high 50s behind the

second serve. They would be happy with that. That is a dilemma for

Zverev. He needs to be able to hold serve just to keep his nose in

front. He was able to get to 3-3 in the second set, can he get deeper

into this set. His next question is how can I get into the Tomas Berdych

serve and the answer is winning more of those points on second serve. One

thing is for sure, he will have two improve that statistic.

Zverev is wondering why. He has challenged, unsuccessfully. He is

ahead on the Berdych serve for the first time. For the first time in a

long time. Now, suddenly a glimmer of hope for

the German. He has been making goes all day. He

has been like a machine, but not in this game. The first break point in

the match for Alexander Zverev. We can hardly believe what we have

just seen. The match totally turned on its head. We were trying to think

of what Zverev could do, but interestingly, three forehand

errors, consecutively from Berdych. We haven't seen anything like that

so far in this match. Can he used that as a platform?

Berdych has gone right off the boil. He has looked serene in the first

hour and a half. The unforced errors are mounting

fast. The magic is gone. It is

extraordinary. We have had four or five long exchanges early in the

match and Zverev was winning none of those and suddenly it is Berdych who

is breaking down. He mustn't get carried away with

himself. Three metres long, that. Another forehand goes astray. They

look of astonishment and you can understand why. He was virtually

faultless for a first hour and a quarter.

That is the kind of form that is everyone so excited about Zverev.

For new viewers, a few facts and figures about Zverev. Ranked 28 in

the world, he is on a career high. He started the year at 83, but he

has got to a couple of finals, in Nice, and also where he beat Roger

Federer. After that he lost. Six foot six, all the credentials,

reckoned to be the future superstar of tennis. Absolutely. The depth in

the Maenpaa is my game is so strong these days. Even though he is inside

the top 30's already, -- inside the top 30 already, sometimes you have

to be cautious about saying that players are going to be definite top

five, definite grand slam priors, but if you were going to say that

about someone, you would say a tabloid Alexander Zverev. Lots of

power, big ground strokes, so much room to improve physically and

mentally. He will develop. My daughters have told me he is very

marketable. The crowd have latched onto him

because he is the underdog. He is an attractive player to watch, and now

he is in front in the third set. It is coping with the power of

Berdych. He has done that so much better.

Mrs Berdych. It was an easy watch for the first hour and a quarter. It

has got a lot more tense since then. Sometimes, when it goes, it goes

big-time. That forehand, not just that he missed it, but it was the

manner in which he missed. It seems like all the rhythm has suddenly

gone. The phone is ringing, man. Someone's

Mobile is ringing. At a crucial time, just reminding him of that.

He has missed that. Such a good shot down the line. This is a point for a

double break, and surely the set. Lots of forehand winners from

Berdych, but in this set, lots of forehand mistakes.

Yes, again, it landed in that bare patch. There is not a lot you can do

with it, but it was a super finish. He is having a look. He is happy

with it. Well, not happy. But he agrees it was in. In his life,

Zverev has never come back from 2-0 sets down. A change of balls, and

the change of rackets. Zverev is returning better. That was

the problem in the first two sets. Berdych may be heartened by the

Davis Cup match which they played this year. He won the first set,

then he was in real trouble, Alexander won the second set. He was

up against it. But he came back to win the fifth. Zverev just a single

break in front in this set. He looks up at his box. They say,

yes, get involved. He wants to know if he wins the point. He does not

get it. Not even close. On UMPIRE: 15-15, Mr Zverev has two challenges

remaining. Could you imagine a forehand missed

like that in the first hour or so? I am just having a think, to see what

has changed in his mind, to lose the rhythm like he has.

He is challenging the baseline. Difficult to see from where we are.

He is a natural challenger. It was all right. On UMPIRE: 30-30, Mr

Zverev has one challenge remaining. Here's a natural this fellow. Got

it. That may be as important a shot as we have had in the match. It

looked like the white serve had done the trick, but the backhand giving

Tomas Berdych a slight opening. My goodness, what a passing shot that

was. I do not know how he can contain

himself. Alex in the front row, next to his trainer.

The crowd love that, 134 mph. That is his quickest serve so far.

He did not do enough with the backhand down the line. He probably

feels he deserves to lose the point. The first rule of tennis, watch the

ball. What is going on? His head seems to

be Miles away. Break point. A screamer from the German. Berdych

knows he missed an opportunity. A bit of everything in their skin.

Yes, and the longer it goes on, the bigger the moment is. A couple of

screams from Alexander. -- Zverev. We have not seen that sort of thing

before. He knows how big this moment is. Another bullet. 133, that one.

You just get the feeling he is not totally focused at the moment. There

is still the occasional loose point that creeps into his game.

Really good work from Berdych, that was impressive.

The longest game, and it might be a pivotal one.

We have seen winners, some shocking losers, but Zverev has not missed

much in particular game. This is all support for Sverdrup.

You can see he is struggling just a little bit at the moment. -- Sarah.

The game, Berdych was so quick to spot the trouble that Zverev was in.

He just comes forward and it is a perfect touch at the night. -- at

the net. Is she going to challenge this one?

He has won a challenge left. He is not going to use it. Berdych breaks

back. So, in the end, at the fourth

attempt, Berdych gets the break. He will look back at those mistakes.

When he seemed to have the game basically where he wanted it then

suddenly there were two shocking errors. That was at the exchange at

the net. I was getting ready to say he has got the better of Berdych.

The first shot of the next point, a shank into the crowd and suddenly he

is break point down again. It has happened if you dance. There were

three games in a row. The third occasion was when he was broken and

that is one area where you would call it a miniature lapse in

concentration but you don't see it from someone like Tomas Berdych. His

dad still believes. He has never yet beaten a seeded

player in the slammer. We saw Berdych going through a spell

when he was sitting more losers than winners and it seems like the worm

has turned. This is back to where we were in the

first couple of sets. Three games on the spin now for the cheque. Berdych

had a comfortable service came at last. He has been under the cosh

recently. A great atmosphere. There are about 13,000 inside this Centre

Court. Good work. That will be crucial. He

had no chance. The forehand still doesn't look as

devastating as it did in the first couple of sets. It is still not

right. He is not timing it as well, not being as damaging up the court.

Zverev marked out as a top player from a young age, former junior

number one in the world. He won the Boys' Singles title a couple of

years ago at the Australian Open. The previous year. It is the package

really that is so alluring. He is a very tall, when he fills out he will

be immensely powerful because he has natural timing, moves well for a guy

of six foot six and seems to have a good temperament. He has floated

away just here and there in this match. All those aspects of his game

that he has, every one of those is still going to improve. You look at

some of his results, at 19 years of age he has beaten Roger Fedor on the

grass a couple of weeks ago. You cannot achieve those results at such

a young age if you do not have something very special.

We were saying earlier, goes Green has nurtured Andy Murray's fitness

since he was a teenager. -- Des Green. Zverev can achieve as much as

Merhi has. -- Marie. He is doing well to live with

Berdych in rallies like that. Berdych has broken back in this set,

the whole feel of the match has changed now. The first two sets were

very much one-way traffic. That is not the case since Berdych lost his

timing. The whole field of the match has changed.

The power is so natural. Here are three set points for Zverev.

Well done. Berdych is six foot five. He was backpedalling. That was some

shot. He is challenging. It looked all

right. Zverev, this is his last challenge. It was all right. So,

they are both out of challenges. But he does have one set point left.

Thoroughly deserved. He is still in this match.

This Sunday crowd have got what they want, which is a match year on

Centre Court. We saw Serena Williams in sublime form earlier. It looked

like Berdych was going to win this with some comfort, but now it is

game on. It is well and truly game on. That was a cry from Zverev, not

just someone who is here to push Berdych close, it is someone who

believes they can win this match. Berdych's statistics suddenly in

freefall. Double the amount of unforced errors. Those statistics

are the key to the third set, the error count from Berdych was not

there in the first couple of sets. The second serve points one was 100

point -- 100% at the end of the first set. Look out for it has

fallen. Something has happened. Zverev has to have made some more

balls from the returns, but from Berdych's point of view, something

has happened, his timing. He was definitely in the zone in the first

two sets. Something has happened where he has drifted out. Yes, he

could not miss for the first hour. It must be a very uncomfortable

feeling, when you feel so sure of yourself, and suddenly you're not.

Especially now, we run a grass court, it is a quick word, he is

playing someone who is 19, fill of belief, he has a massive serve, it

is a dangerous situation. UMPIRE: The challenges being called,

the right baseline. He does not miss an opportunity to

challenge. He has got it. A big smile. I am not sure if it was that

man who said, get involved. That is a lovely shot. It is

applauded by Zverev. Two massive guys. Six foot five and six foot

six. But they have got real talent at their hands as well.

Powering home. The match really does have a totally different feel about

it now. Berdych has had an OK year, but by his standards, disappointing.

He has not reached a final. A couple of semifinals, in Doha and

Marseille. A quarterfinal in the Australian Open. And that Roland

Garros. Federer and Djokovic. He has not had the breakthrough he would

want. A serious look down from Mrs

Berdych. That is what was happening for two

sets. Berdych breaking Zverev down, particularly on the forehand.

Another mess on the forehand. It is getting to be a habit.

Stepanek, the linchpin of the Czech Republic pars Davis Cup run. They

have been phenomenal in the last couple of years.

Zverev in the middle of that rally, using the spin to take Berdych out

been won by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. The 12th seed defeated John Isner. What

a treat for the fans out there. They have it all. The big serving of

the way to read that thrilling final set. For hours and 25 minutes and

He got lucky they are. He used his luck so impressively. Both players

expected that to go their way. After it did, Berdych was very quick to

get on top of the point. It just seems like Zverev is mentally

getting a little bit tired now. Three break points for some

insurance. That was a rather tame reply and

Berdych is really in the ascendancy again. I think you are spot on

there. There is fatigue in Zverev. It is not necessarily physical

fatigue, this has been Centre Court, against a man he has made the final.

It is a hard-nosed judo and he looks like he is flicking a little bit.

Yes, when the big stage, in the big tournaments, regardless of where he

is right now, what potential he has in the future, he's up against one

of the most experienced players on tour. We spoke about that earlier in

the match. I guess he is not used to, in this scenario, being up

against someone were just the slightest lapse of concentration, it

really does cost you. On top of that, it has been a tough week with

the weather. His first-round match was delayed overnight. He had to

come back. His second-round match, the same thing. He was on and off

court 34 times during the day. He will never have experienced that

before, and it is part of that Michelin process. And then you put

him on Centre Court against Berdych? Yes, and fair play to Tomas Berdych.

He has used all his experience to bounce back from the difference in

level that he was producing in the third set. It must be quite

unsettling to be playing so well and within 1015 minutes you're spraying

ten or 12 unforced mistakes from the ground strokes. At the start of the

set, he knuckles back down. There was a close game at Love- one. He

has regrouped, and he is showing all of his experience. Berdych, 4-1, he

should be in the comfort zone, but does he feel it?

He cannot finish it. That is five games on the spin now for Tomas

Berdych. Just half an hour after taking set

number three, he is serving to stay in the match.

I am not sure if there was a dodgy bounce. There might have been. But

mentally, he is checking out. He has picked up a terrific show,

but he is a spent force. Three match points for Berdych.

have felt distinctly uncomfortable when Zverev was coming at him in the

third set. He lost his rhythm, but he read in bed, and Berdych goes

through, 6-1 in the fourth set. -- but he got it back. The Sunday crowd

appreciated what they saw. It was an entertaining match. We saw some of

the best of Tomas Berdych in the first two sets. Sascha Zverev put up

a good show. But in the end, probably his efforts to get this far

through the tricky weather, throughout the week, and also

against somebody who is so experienced and so clinical in his

play, and in the end, Zverev run out of resistance. It must have been

unnerving, for someone who was so in the zone, to highly make a mistake

for one hour, and suddenly it is all unhinged. At that level, it is

extraordinary. Yes, he had to focus back into the match very quickly. It

was the beginning of the fourth set, at 0- one, he could easily have gone

a break down, but he did not. That is why he has been such a consistent

player at the big tournaments. Once more, Berdych goes into the last 16.

Zverev, we will see more from him. As I mentioned before, he has all

the qualities that you need. Maybe he needs to bulk up a little bit,

but he just needs the maturing process, and today will be a big

part of that. That is back-to-back grand slams in the third round, the

third round of the French Open, the third round here, on a big court.

Against a big player. He will go from to strength. He plays with his

heart on his sleeve, he is entertaining, and he has the ground

strokes, the weaponry. We will enjoy watching him for any years to come,

I think. Berdych must be a little relieved. He played very well, that

he had a disconcerting patch in the third set. He has come through in

the end, comfortably. He won the last six games. He has dropped just

a couple of sets in making it through to the last 16.
