Come Andy! When you have got a guy like that, you follow. Welcome back

:00:29.:00:41.

to Wimbledon. We are hearing many calls of come on, Andy, around

:00:42.:00:45.

Henman Hill. They are watching on the big screen and the British

:00:46.:00:49.

number one is responding. He is in charge of his fourth-round match

:00:50.:00:54.

against Nick Kyrgios. The British fans are happy, Nick Kyrgios isn't

:00:55.:00:58.

enjoying it much out there. He is being given a tennis lesson from the

:00:59.:01:05.

world number two. Andy Murray won the first set 7-5, the second set

:01:06.:01:10.

6-1 and in the third set is not far away from victory. Let's join our

:01:11.:01:17.

commentators, John McEnroe and John end of a -- John Inverdale.

:01:18.:01:36.

COMMENTATOR: It is probably fair to say the commentators are

:01:37.:01:41.

disappointed, they were expecting this to be a swashbuckling encounter

:01:42.:01:47.

but it has been a bit of a damp squib so far. Andy Murray has

:01:48.:01:51.

pricked the Nick Kyrgios balloon completely. That is so true, he has

:01:52.:01:55.

taken him completely out of the match. He doesn't seem to be under

:01:56.:02:03.

much stress at all. Considering what he is up against, that's pretty

:02:04.:02:12.

impressive. I'm not a psychologist or body movement therapist or

:02:13.:02:16.

whatever it might be but that body language doesn't look very positive

:02:17.:02:27.

to me. Resigned. That was a sigh of resignation as he hit the first

:02:28.:02:34.

ball. Extraordinary. He needs to work on his posture a little bit.

:02:35.:02:42.

Hunched over. Stand up tall. When he walked on court with his tennis

:02:43.:02:51.

bag... That has got to go. It was an observation that two people in the

:02:52.:02:56.

box behind us made, he looks very hunched. The first thing he did when

:02:57.:03:00.

he came on court, she sat on the chair and texted somebody. This is

:03:01.:03:10.

get me out of here situation from Kyrgios now. It is a shame, it

:03:11.:03:23.

really is. That ball looks like it was going long, then he hit.

:03:24.:03:44.

Where was that serve when he needed it earlier on? 128 mph. Still in the

:03:45.:04:00.

game, but only just. He came out focused, he looked to be playing

:04:01.:04:06.

well. He served big. He just got tight at the wrong moment, played

:04:07.:04:11.

some loose shots. He continues to mumble. It is amazing in this sport

:04:12.:04:19.

how one point can change an entire match. A match can last up to four

:04:20.:04:24.

hours, and yet one point can transform it. That missed volley on

:04:25.:04:29.

set point in the first set seemed to define the whole game. We are in

:04:30.:04:36.

agreement that the first set was key for Kyrgios, if he was to get

:04:37.:04:38.

believing he could do something against Andy Murray in a best of

:04:39.:04:48.

five and that was not a difficult volley at all. He went through the

:04:49.:04:51.

motions in the second set, he seems to have given a better effort, but

:04:52.:04:56.

this is not doing our sport any good. He's giving 80% right now? 85?

:04:57.:05:04.

This is Wimbledon. The Centre Court of Wimbledon. You have got to give

:05:05.:05:10.

110% to get back into this, find a way in. It is packed Centre Court,

:05:11.:05:16.

hundreds of millions watching around the world, and everybody was looking

:05:17.:05:20.

forward to this as a fantastic contest between two great

:05:21.:05:23.

personalities of the game as well. It hasn't been yet.

:05:24.:05:41.

It is going to be a huge drop-off in quality in this game for Andy Murray

:05:42.:05:50.

to remain alive much longer. He has been lucky but mainly he has

:05:51.:06:31.

been really good, Murray. If truth be told, the outcome has never been

:06:32.:06:32.

in doubt here. Seven aces from Murray, nine from

:06:33.:07:04.

Kyrgios. You would have expected a bigger differential there. Into the

:07:05.:07:09.

net from the Australian, and Andy Murray is just one game away now

:07:10.:07:13.

from a ninth Wimbledon quarterfinal. Unbelievable. Unbelievable, says

:07:14.:07:28.

Kyrgios. I'm not sure what he's referring to, but you could describe

:07:29.:07:35.

it about the way he played in the second set.

:07:36.:07:42.

You could describe it about his effort, you could describe it about

:07:43.:07:52.

Murray's play. Yes, it hangs in the air. But the speed he is playing out

:07:53.:07:54.

now, he is out of here. The frustration is all the greater

:07:55.:08:16.

here though, isn't it, for the crowd as well who were looking forward to

:08:17.:08:21.

this so much because there is so much talent available. It is the

:08:22.:08:27.

biggest disappointment. Brilliant from Murray, brilliant. The truth is

:08:28.:08:33.

I don't think Kyrgios was going to win anyway, but it could have been a

:08:34.:08:38.

heck of a lot closer. Right there he doesn't even make an effort to cover

:08:39.:08:44.

that line. Murray is so quick, great hands.

:08:45.:08:51.

It is true across all sports, isn't it, the Royal box is full of

:08:52.:08:58.

champions who come from a wide range of disciplines but there is nothing

:08:59.:09:04.

more frustrating than sport. And talent that doesn't reach its

:09:05.:09:05.

potential because of attitude. Good job he hasn't got a coach

:09:06.:09:21.

because they would be going mad about that shot.

:09:22.:09:49.

Here it is. I was expecting Andy Murray to win, but not in 36

:09:50.:10:02.

minutes. Everyone giving around a -- round of applause to Andy Murray the

:10:03.:10:10.

head of the inevitable finale here. Kyrgios is going to make him wait

:10:11.:10:14.

just a little bit longer. And of course the crowd once more. He needs

:10:15.:10:20.

to make him serve this out, see if he tightens up. 132, that one came

:10:21.:10:32.

down at. And again, shouts somebody. The ball flies off his racket at the

:10:33.:10:51.

net, service still at deuce. Murray is still two points from victory.

:10:52.:10:56.

That was sensational. That is the view that we had that shot... It was

:10:57.:11:05.

absolutely... I cannot tell you how brilliant that was. How he adjusted

:11:06.:11:09.

his hands at the last minute and played the ball across court.

:11:10.:11:10.

Sensational. Can he get a time violation for

:11:11.:11:43.

playing too quickly? Not that I am aware of. Can you imagine he got the

:11:44.:11:53.

time violation in the last match for playing too slow? It doesn't seem

:11:54.:11:58.

possible. You are allowed 20 seconds between point in Grand Slams, he is

:11:59.:12:01.

taking ten. Assuming that is long, Kyrgios has

:12:02.:12:18.

won the game and is prolonging the match. So Andy Murray will have to

:12:19.:12:32.

serve it out. When the final point is played here, everyone will talk

:12:33.:12:35.

about Murray, and rightly so, looking forward to his next match

:12:36.:12:39.

against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on Thursday. If this is the end, let's

:12:40.:12:45.

talk about Kyrgios. What does his team, if he has a team, what does he

:12:46.:12:53.

take out of this? This is hard to take a whole lot of positives out of

:12:54.:12:57.

this. It is not just the mental problem, he needs to work on his

:12:58.:13:04.

game. He doesn't understand what it takes yet, apparently, to be a top

:13:05.:13:08.

professional or a top ten professional or someone who can win

:13:09.:13:14.

Grand Slams at this level. And that is unfortunate. I am hopeful that he

:13:15.:13:18.

will see the writing on the wall before it really gets in his head

:13:19.:13:23.

and this becomes chronic and irreparable because, to me, it is

:13:24.:13:28.

not that far from getting there. Does he need someone to say, do you

:13:29.:13:34.

want to be one of the best two or three players in the world? You hit

:13:35.:13:45.

the nail on the head. Murray has still got a little bit of work to do

:13:46.:13:51.

here. I think it is impossible for Kyrgios to walk more slowly towards

:13:52.:13:55.

the baseline for what may be the last game.

:13:56.:14:26.

Careless, I think he will think that was.

:14:27.:15:00.

Almost a double fault, hitting the back of the line. He needs to get

:15:01.:15:07.

into this game, make something happen.

:15:08.:15:32.

He is about six feet tall. But he is shrinking. He is suddenly five foot

:15:33.:15:36.

six! The eyes have it there. APPLAUSE

:15:37.:16:04.

This missive from Murray. -- this -- dismissive. So here we are, right on

:16:05.:16:09.

cue, after one hour and 43 minutes, it is match point to Andy Murray.

:16:10.:16:20.

Couldn't be simpler! Seven - five... Brilliant when he needed to be,

:16:21.:16:25.

efficient, energy conserving, ruthless, clinical, and he is a

:16:26.:16:29.

quarterfinalist yet again. A standing ovation from the crowd

:16:30.:16:50.

here on Centre Court, and I suppose they will be a little bit

:16:51.:16:54.

disappointed that it wasn't a better contest. But it is seven o'clock,

:16:55.:16:59.

and they can all get home for tea. It has all worked out! Certainly,

:17:00.:17:07.

the level he played at was extremely high, you have to appreciate that. I

:17:08.:17:13.

think people watching on TV will respect him more than they ever

:17:14.:17:18.

have, the level he has gotten too. I mean, he is very hard to play

:17:19.:17:24.

against, that is part of why Kyrgios snapped. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga await

:17:25.:17:28.

Andy Murray after beating Richard Gasquet today, after Gasquet retired

:17:29.:17:35.

in the first set. He will have had a chance to replenish stocks of energy

:17:36.:17:38.

before they meet on Centre Court on Wednesday. And Andy Murray leaves

:17:39.:17:46.

Centre Court with a ninth quarterfinal in succession awaiting

:17:47.:17:53.

him in 48 hours' time. He joins John and Pete Sampras in that very

:17:54.:17:56.

exalted company who have achieved that number. And I think the word as

:17:57.:18:06.

lumber, Nick Kyrgios lumbers off, like a character from the Jungle

:18:07.:18:13.

Book. He has got a lot of work to do. This is the problem of not

:18:14.:18:17.

having a coach, because who does he talk to? It is very hard to talk to

:18:18.:18:22.

mums and dads and brothers and sisters about that, isn't it? This

:18:23.:18:28.

will be an important time for his parents, looking him in the eye,

:18:29.:18:33.

asking him the question you asked me a couple of minutes ago. He has got

:18:34.:18:37.

a brother, he has got people like Lleyton Hewitt, trying to get a

:18:38.:18:43.

bigger influence. These are the type of people who have got to force him

:18:44.:18:48.

to look in the mirror, because this guy is way too good, way too

:18:49.:18:53.

professional, way too dedicated to be worried about Nick Kyrgios the

:18:54.:19:00.

way he played today. He is the example, I suppose. Him and the

:19:01.:19:05.

other top guys, Nadal has been that way, Novak has, Roger. The guy I

:19:06.:19:12.

have been working with in the grass court season, extremely dedicated

:19:13.:19:15.

professional, you have got to respect that. Well, here is the arch

:19:16.:19:21.

professional Andy Murray, after beating Nick Kyrgios in exemplary

:19:22.:19:27.

fashion, 7-5, 6-1, 6-4, he is with Rishi Persad.

:19:28.:19:31.

Congratulations, another straight sets win, no disrespect to Nick

:19:32.:19:34.

Kyrgios, but was that more comfortable than you expected? Well,

:19:35.:19:39.

I mean, the second set was, the first set was very tight, I managed

:19:40.:19:46.

to get the break at 6-5, but it was very tight up to that point, the

:19:47.:19:50.

second set was more comfortable, and I think he lost his focus a little

:19:51.:19:54.

bit in the middle part of the set, so that made it easier. The third

:19:55.:19:58.

set, he said their high percentage, when I was able to get the ball back

:19:59.:20:03.

and play, I was able to dictate a lot of the rallies, managed to get

:20:04.:20:09.

an early break. Whether you like it or not, expectation is growing, do

:20:10.:20:12.

you find that easy to ignore, or do you need help from the likes of Ivan

:20:13.:20:16.

Lendl? I don't know, I mean every year I play here, it is the same, it

:20:17.:20:20.

is not any different this year than it has been any of the other years I

:20:21.:20:25.

have been here. Obviously, I try my best to win my matches, go as deep

:20:26.:20:29.

as possible, you know, I have been playing well so far in this event,

:20:30.:20:34.

but the matches, as you progress, get tougher, playing Tsonga next,

:20:35.:20:40.

you know, who was a top grass court player, and I will need to play very

:20:41.:20:44.

well to win that one. You are played in twice at Wimbledon, in 2010 and

:20:45.:20:51.

2012, does that history and record have any bearing on what happens

:20:52.:20:54.

when you face him in the quarterfinal? I think, you know, you

:20:55.:20:59.

can learn from the matches that you played against him, see the things

:21:00.:21:03.

that worked well, try to execute that, you know, the next time. But

:21:04.:21:09.

every match is different, you know, in an individual sport. If you put

:21:10.:21:14.

in a bad performance, you know, you can easily lose. So I need to

:21:15.:21:18.

concentrate on my own form, try to keep it up, and if I play as focused

:21:19.:21:23.

and as well as I did today, I will have a chance. No bad performances

:21:24.:21:28.

so far, well done, good luck. Thanks.

:21:29.:21:33.

He certainly was focused, he didn't put a foot wrong from start to

:21:34.:21:37.

finish, he came through a tight first set then took complete control

:21:38.:21:41.

and put out a very tricky opponent, a very dangerous opponent, someone

:21:42.:21:46.

with some big weapons, but Murray, everything was working, and he is

:21:47.:21:50.

through to the last eight. No Great Big Sea the break for him, he got

:21:51.:21:55.

the job done, but more work to be done. -- no great big celebration.

:21:56.:22:01.

But there is applause from Ivan Lendl, who is a hard man to please.

:22:02.:22:06.

Murray appreciating the applause from the crowd on Centre Court, what

:22:07.:22:11.

a performance from the world number two and now favourite for the title.

:22:12.:22:15.

If you are tuning in on BBC One and expecting to see the One Show, that

:22:16.:22:23.

is now being shown over on BBC Two. So the One Show is on BBC Two, we

:22:24.:22:30.

have been having the Murray Show one, and we will be talking more

:22:31.:22:34.

about him in just a moment. He will play Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the next

:22:35.:22:37.

round, because Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was on Court Number One, and not for

:22:38.:22:41.

very long, a sad end to this match, Richard Gasquet, last year's

:22:42.:22:49.

semifinalist, injuring his back in the rally and in obvious pain, just

:22:50.:22:55.

too much. Watch this. There it went, a back injury for a tennis player it

:22:56.:22:59.

is just impossible to carry on, so he had to make the sad decision to

:23:00.:23:05.

retire 4-2 down in the first. So we have lost two of the big seeds

:23:06.:23:09.

today, Richard Gasquet and Kei Nishikori, the number five, who

:23:10.:23:13.

retired because of a rib injury, a couple of big names going out.

:23:14.:23:19.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga came through 19-17 in the first set against John

:23:20.:23:22.

Isner, that will help his chances, and he be playing Andy Murray on

:23:23.:23:28.

Wednesday. And how nice, they are great friends, the French number one

:23:29.:23:32.

and number two, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga helping is made, carrying the bag

:23:33.:23:40.

off court, he wouldn't want to win that way. That is the story from

:23:41.:23:45.

cordoned one, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will take on Andy Murray. So let's

:23:46.:23:49.

get further reaction from John McEnroe, first of all, so

:23:50.:23:54.

disappointing for Richard Gasquet at there, last year's semifinalist,

:23:55.:23:59.

potentially a beautiful match. Potentially it was, but I will have

:24:00.:24:02.

to slightly disagree and say the Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is extremely

:24:03.:24:07.

happy that the match ended that way, because let's not forget that he

:24:08.:24:12.

went to 19-17, it wasn't a whole lot left in the tank, it was a great

:24:13.:24:17.

opportunity for him to make a move, maybe get to the semifinals himself,

:24:18.:24:21.

so that is disappointing for Gasquet, but absolutely what the

:24:22.:24:26.

doctor ordered for Tsonga. But it is his good friend. Is hard pleads for

:24:27.:24:31.

him, he hopes for a quick recovery, but he will need some energy when he

:24:32.:24:37.

plays Murray. -- his heart bleeds. You are a hard man! A top first set

:24:38.:24:45.

for Murray, but he just raised his game at the right time. He did play

:24:46.:24:49.

extremely well, I must say, this appointment would be an

:24:50.:24:52.

understatement in describing Kyrgios's effort, particularly as

:24:53.:24:55.

the match went on when Murray lifted his game. That is to be expected

:24:56.:24:59.

when you are playing a former Wimbledon champion. What does he

:25:00.:25:02.

think he is going to do? Of course he is going to step it up! He played

:25:03.:25:09.

a horrible point at 30-40 in the first set, missing an easy volley,

:25:10.:25:12.

but you have to dig in and show you are going to play even harder,

:25:13.:25:16.

instead of throwing the second set away. He competed slightly better,

:25:17.:25:23.

but a lot of that was for Murray, he came in exceptionally well prepared,

:25:24.:25:27.

he got into his head, a god Kyrgios to quit at times, driving him crazy

:25:28.:25:32.

with the drop shot. It was a great performance, but some of it was

:25:33.:25:35.

because he was not feeling a lot of pressure from Kyrgios. He was really

:25:36.:25:40.

rushing Kyrgios, wasn't he? You was certainly rushing him, he is much

:25:41.:25:44.

better inside the baseline, to me, than Kyrgios is. He has to look in

:25:45.:25:49.

the mirror, Kyrgios, if he is a top player wants to win slams. Based on

:25:50.:25:54.

that performance, I would be more concerned. I still think that he is

:25:55.:25:58.

going to win slams, but not the way he did at there. Murray was the

:25:59.:26:02.

consummate pro, playing the best tennis of his life, you have to

:26:03.:26:06.

appreciate what he's doing, he is going to be tough to beat. And you

:26:07.:26:11.

cannot throw away points like he did in a Grand Slam fourth-round match,

:26:12.:26:14.

we were talking with Pat Cash, he needs a coach, someone to try to

:26:15.:26:18.

give him steely determination, because he has got all the shots.

:26:19.:26:24.

Don't you think, at the end of the day, Djokovic tapped out for a

:26:25.:26:28.

period of time against Sam Querrey? The deficit was too high to

:26:29.:26:31.

overcome? I think that had an impact, he is 21 years old, you

:26:32.:26:35.

cannot give away points and games against someone as good as Murray,

:26:36.:26:40.

someone as focused as Murray. Inexplicable. Ultimately, he has to

:26:41.:26:44.

look in the mirror and say, how badly do I want to be the best

:26:45.:26:47.

player in the world? Will I do what it takes to become the best? Too

:26:48.:26:52.

many guys on the tour work so hard, they have got excellent teams around

:26:53.:26:55.

them, that you are not going to make it to the top with that type of

:26:56.:27:00.

effort. We saw him before the match, just less than two hours before the

:27:01.:27:03.

match, watching a doubles match with Lleyton Hewitt. He is the Aussie

:27:04.:27:08.

Davis Cup captain, he may be the man, he had steely determination,

:27:09.:27:12.

there was no bigger fighter, maybe he could be the man in his corner.

:27:13.:27:17.

Hopefully he can knock some sense into him, no question about it.

:27:18.:27:24.

Maybe he should stop playing doubles and focus more on helping Kyrgios.

:27:25.:27:27.

What kind of preparation is that? Two hours before you go to Centre

:27:28.:27:29.

Court, watching a doubles match wherever it was? I mean, I know you

:27:30.:27:33.

need to keep your nerves down and try to prepare, people prepare in

:27:34.:27:38.

different ways, but come on! That is just... I don't know, what was that

:27:39.:27:45.

phrase I said, I don't know. I will say it! It was July the 4th, maybe

:27:46.:27:49.

earlier, happy Independence Day to all my American friends here! Nick

:27:50.:27:55.

Kyrgios is going to go in the press conference and get some tough

:27:56.:27:58.

questions, which he isn't going to like, there will probably a few

:27:59.:28:02.

quotes making headlines around the world, particularly down under. It

:28:03.:28:06.

is going to be that story for him again, not so much about the great

:28:07.:28:10.

tennis, all about how he reacts. It is a damn shame, it really is. I

:28:11.:28:16.

don't have a good answer for you. There is a lot of people, I think,

:28:17.:28:20.

that can help him, hopefully he will get the right people around him,

:28:21.:28:24.

maybe people around him right now are telling him the things that I am

:28:25.:28:29.

saying, or other people are saying. This is not something that is

:28:30.:28:33.

brand-new, we have seen this act before, but I thought she had shown

:28:34.:28:37.

some maturity, shown he was going in the right direction. But he is not

:28:38.:28:41.

going to get all the way there right now, so hopefully he will

:28:42.:28:44.

understand, that is the main thing. He could be a great positive for our

:28:45.:28:51.

sport. You used that energy when you, how shall I phrase this...

:28:52.:28:56.

Freaked out! You used it in a positive manner, and that is what he

:28:57.:29:00.

needs to do. Well, you hit the nail on the head. It is one thing if you

:29:01.:29:06.

lose it, you are going to get some people coming up to you, I can tell

:29:07.:29:09.

you that, I have had experience with that, and some of it was deserved.

:29:10.:29:13.

But if you can figure out a way to fight harder and watch it more, I

:29:14.:29:19.

watched Connors play, I saw this guy with the ultimate intensity, I saw

:29:20.:29:23.

Lleyton Hewitt do it, Michael Chang. They react in different ways. I was

:29:24.:29:27.

lucky enough to figure out a way, when I lost, that I would be able to

:29:28.:29:35.

get it back quickly and use it hopefully to my advantage, it would

:29:36.:29:37.

make me play harder. But when it becomes apparent that you are

:29:38.:29:40.

hurting yourself, you have to cut that out immediately. Yes, he has

:29:41.:29:44.

got the game, it is so frustrating, such a watchable player, he has got

:29:45.:29:49.

all the shots, we just want to progress. What does it mean for the

:29:50.:29:53.

draw? Murray goes through to face Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who is delighted

:29:54.:29:57.

to see his friend injured at the other end of the court! But that is

:29:58.:30:02.

not easy, Jo-Wilfried has come through a tough match, a two time

:30:03.:30:07.

semifinal is, great athlete. Jo is a great athlete, and he is probably

:30:08.:30:11.

thinking, how many times I going to be in this position again? He has

:30:12.:30:16.

had to bail out of the French Open, he had not played any matches until

:30:17.:30:22.

Wimbledon, he was shaky. That is the situation where Gasquet had a great

:30:23.:30:29.

opportunity, I see Pouille, interesting, pulled out a close

:30:30.:30:33.

match against somebody I thought would make it to the finals, Tomic,

:30:34.:30:42.

so that is a big win for him. I see the Berdych game, I believe it is

:30:43.:30:47.

one set all, so that is a huge opportunity. I saw Vesely play Milos

:30:48.:30:53.

Raonic at Queen's, a tricky and dangerous player, one of the few who

:30:54.:30:57.

has beaten Djokovic this year. Berdych looked really good on court

:30:58.:31:03.

against Zverev yesterday. But there's draw is wide open for a lot

:31:04.:31:08.

of people, it is a commend is opportunity. Roger Federer has got

:31:09.:31:12.

three big hitters, Sam Querrey, Milos Raonic, Marin Cilic in his

:31:13.:31:17.

heart. His eyes lit up when Novak lost, you better believe it! So did

:31:18.:31:23.

the other guys. I commend Sam Querrey for bouncing back and

:31:24.:31:28.

beating Mahut. I am proud of Milos Raonic for coming back from two sets

:31:29.:31:32.

down. The most dangerous of all looks like Marin Cilic. He beat

:31:33.:31:38.

Roger in the semis, he has won a slam, he has been there and done

:31:39.:31:42.

that. Watch out, Roger Federer, that will be a much tougher test than

:31:43.:31:44.

anything he has had so far. We mentioned Roger Federer, he was

:31:45.:31:55.

first on Centre Court today, and he was in imperious form up against

:31:56.:32:00.

Steve Johnson, a potentially tricky opponent, he was dismissed in

:32:01.:32:04.

straight sets. Roger is moving up the gears as each match goes by, and

:32:05.:32:09.

with Novak Djokovic out, he has set his sights on the final. Few would

:32:10.:32:14.

bet against it. At the end of the match, he salutes the crowd and they

:32:15.:32:17.

appreciate seeing this great champion winning once again on his

:32:18.:32:22.

favourite court. Roger through to the last eight here at Wimbledon for

:32:23.:32:25.

the 14th time. So Roger is through to face Marin Cilic, and let's hear

:32:26.:32:31.

from him now, he has been talking to John Inverdale. To get to this stage

:32:32.:32:35.

in the way that you have, is it the most perfect way to get to a

:32:36.:32:39.

quarterfinal they Grand Slam? Well, I think, under the circumstances, it

:32:40.:32:43.

is the perfect way to get to the quarters. I never thought I was

:32:44.:32:47.

going to lose sets, I thought I died lose in the first week, to be quite

:32:48.:32:51.

honest, because I came in with really low expectations, and I am

:32:52.:32:55.

not just saying that to say it, I really meant it. I just didn't know

:32:56.:32:59.

exactly where I was, you know, even though I did get a lot of

:33:00.:33:07.

information from Stuttgart and Halle. But it was never quite

:33:08.:33:12.

flowing, I was fighting with my body, my confidence, everything, so

:33:13.:33:14.

I came to Wimbledon hoping that it would just be OK, maybe getting

:33:15.:33:19.

through the first week, who knows, and I played a great match against

:33:20.:33:23.

Johnson today, unbelievably happy to get to the quarters. I watched you

:33:24.:33:28.

against Evans with Richard Krajicek and Pat Cash, and they were both

:33:29.:33:31.

saying that, in view of the fact that you missed the French Open

:33:32.:33:35.

because of injury, they felt you were moving as well now as you were

:33:36.:33:39.

12 months ago - do you feel that as well? Only today. Dan Evans was a

:33:40.:33:46.

step up from the first couple of rounds, and hard to judge, because

:33:47.:33:51.

Willis was a lefty, because that makes the whole game... It is a game

:33:52.:33:55.

changer for me, really, it makes me feel more uneasy than what

:33:56.:33:59.

right-handers can do against me. Against Dan, I thought I was more

:34:00.:34:05.

explosive, defence was there, and I hit some really good shot out of

:34:06.:34:10.

defence. You're playing some dinner with a monster serve, when you play

:34:11.:34:14.

these guys, does it require a different mindset? Slightly, even

:34:15.:34:19.

though my approach on grass is protect your own serve than figure

:34:20.:34:22.

out the rest. That is not going to change against Johnson or Cilic,

:34:23.:34:26.

from that standpoint there's not much I have to change. I just think

:34:27.:34:32.

Marin has got a bigger serve, he is quite dangerous off the return as

:34:33.:34:35.

well, because he just swings at it, and when he goes very hot, like in

:34:36.:34:40.

the US Open, he blew me off the court. I have got to find a way to

:34:41.:34:44.

make him feel uncomfortable, we practised, actually, here ten days

:34:45.:34:51.

ago, he is playing well, so not surprised to see him in the quarters

:34:52.:34:54.

as well. You said in your press conference... There is a lot of

:34:55.:34:58.

things I say! All the young guns are going off to Beyonce, going to the

:34:59.:35:02.

West End, seeing London, doing London, which you have done so many

:35:03.:35:07.

times. You said you are still watching a lot of tennis. When you

:35:08.:35:10.

watch a lot of tennis, when you watch matches here, are you watching

:35:11.:35:15.

this passionately, will analytically? Mentally making notes

:35:16.:35:22.

about how people are playing? So... I don't watch that much tennis,

:35:23.:35:26.

actually, like the French Open I didn't sit almost a point, because I

:35:27.:35:31.

was busy doing my rehab, spending time with my family, doing that

:35:32.:35:35.

stuff. So after the two elements, I watch a lot of tennis, because then

:35:36.:35:41.

just intrigued, and when I do watch, I watch as a fan, just a regular

:35:42.:35:54.

guy. -- the tournaments. That is how I watch those matches, not any

:35:55.:35:59.

different, I don't look at it in a way that... This is how I am going

:36:00.:36:02.

to play the next time around, because for me I will not be playing

:36:03.:36:06.

those guys probably anyway, I will be so far away in the draw. Very

:36:07.:36:10.

often I just watch it because I enjoy watching tennis, and I have

:36:11.:36:14.

seen some great matches here, and I am excited about what is to come for

:36:15.:36:23.

me, but also for the fans, for the other players. Pat Cash is with me,

:36:24.:36:26.

lovely, isn't it? 34 years of age, still just loving the game as much

:36:27.:36:32.

as ever. A fan, but I think he is still making mental notes, he has

:36:33.:36:37.

missed that back and twice in a row! He is a tennis fan. Probably more

:36:38.:36:42.

than anybody, you see that he loves tennis, he loves being here. And the

:36:43.:36:47.

history, everything, breaking records, chasing people, that

:36:48.:36:50.

motivates him. He will need motivation, Marin Cilic in the next

:36:51.:36:56.

round is a tough opponent. As John McEnroe just said, he has been here

:36:57.:36:59.

and done it before, and Roger admitted he blew him away in the US

:37:00.:37:06.

Open. That was some performance too, to win those three matches,

:37:07.:37:10.

quarters, semis and the final, to play so well, and it has not been

:37:11.:37:15.

smooth sailing since for Marin, but he has a big game, huge serve. He

:37:16.:37:20.

can do everything, it is sort of putting it together, injuries,

:37:21.:37:25.

throughout his career, and of course that unfortunate ban that he had,

:37:26.:37:30.

which was quite was a killer is, as it turned out in the end. But he has

:37:31.:37:35.

had a new lease of life. -- which was quite ridiculous. I have to get

:37:36.:37:40.

your comments and Nick Kyrgios, but how good was Murray? Very, very

:37:41.:37:46.

good, I am most impressed by him from all the players. That could

:37:47.:37:49.

have been a real test, he did exactly what he needed to do. Nick

:37:50.:37:55.

served 90% first serve, or close to that in the first set, and still did

:37:56.:37:59.

not get to the tie-breaker. He didn't win a point on his second

:38:00.:38:03.

serve, that is how focused Murray was once he got the ball back into

:38:04.:38:07.

play, Murray was incredibly good then, but sometimes you wonder about

:38:08.:38:15.

Nick and think, maybe he needs rewiring at some stage. I know! It

:38:16.:38:18.

looks like sometimes he is not trying. I don't think he is, there's

:38:19.:38:21.

no doubt about it, but that is the way he plays. And don't talk to me,

:38:22.:38:30.

he is saying. You can never win, do you? He wants someone to encourage

:38:31.:38:37.

him, he is a different sort of kit, incredibly talented. That is what

:38:38.:38:40.

frustrates a lot of Australians, a lot of people, when you see that

:38:41.:38:44.

much talent, you would just like it to be utilised a bit better. I just

:38:45.:38:52.

don't think he has that sort of kid. He's getting better every year, he

:38:53.:38:55.

has calmed down, he has done his best effort to not get himself in so

:38:56.:39:01.

much trouble this year. He has still chalked up a few fines, of course!

:39:02.:39:05.

But you love watching him, on TV you love watching him, and people were

:39:06.:39:08.

watching this and saying, what is going on? People may feel

:39:09.:39:14.

short-changed by that, but give credit to Murray, he really played

:39:15.:39:18.

well, and we will see Nick back here, hopefully he will continue to

:39:19.:39:24.

improve, and there is some work on consistency, day in, day out, and

:39:25.:39:27.

whether he is that sort of person, he says, I don't really love tennis,

:39:28.:39:31.

I will not be playing when I am 30. I understand that, I said the same

:39:32.:39:37.

thing, Andre Agassi, you read books, they do not love tennis like Roger

:39:38.:39:41.

Federer loves tennis. I didn't love it, I was just good at it. It sounds

:39:42.:39:48.

egotistical, but Agassi said the same thing, there were times when he

:39:49.:39:51.

didn't want to be near a tennis ball, and that happens to almost all

:39:52.:39:56.

of us - except Roger! You must have moments where he says, I hate

:39:57.:40:00.

tennis, but Nick goes up and down like that, it makes it exciting to

:40:01.:40:06.

watch, and sometimes, wow, if I had that talent, what could I do with

:40:07.:40:11.

it?! He will be looking back and thinking, I had it all, if only I

:40:12.:40:14.

had been pushed in the right direction, but he doesn't seem to

:40:15.:40:18.

want the help. He doesn't want to be coached... What about Lleyton, could

:40:19.:40:25.

he be the man? I will tell you what, take a bit of Lleyton, what he has

:40:26.:40:31.

got, Tomic, Kyrgios, they really need that, and that is focused,

:40:32.:40:37.

dedication to being the best you can possibly be. I interviewed Milos

:40:38.:40:41.

Raonic for the Times the other week, and a couple of things he said,

:40:42.:40:46.

exactly like that. He wants to finish his career and say, I gave it

:40:47.:40:51.

everything to be the best. He also has fear of not performing, and not

:40:52.:40:57.

doing as well as he could, and fear drives him to go out... Maybe he is

:40:58.:41:04.

not all that healthy, but it pushes you to get out of bed at six o'clock

:41:05.:41:09.

in the morning, do the exercises, do the extra things, fear of not living

:41:10.:41:13.

up to your expectation. In many ways, maybe these guys need a bit of

:41:14.:41:19.

that. Just listening to you, that is what Nick Kyrgios needs to be told.

:41:20.:41:23.

We are going to start a petition now to get you coaching Nick Kyrgios! He

:41:24.:41:27.

is not interested in what I have to say. I did even a little bit of

:41:28.:41:32.

advice, one thing I said, get off Twitter, and he wrote back saying,

:41:33.:41:38.

mind your own business! We are going to have to go, I'm afraid, we have

:41:39.:41:42.

run out of time on BBC One, but Murray is through, hope you enjoyed

:41:43.:41:44.

it, bye-bye!
