Good afternoon. Engineers working to reconnect

thousands of homes without electricity say they hope to restore

power to all those affected by midnight. A further 1,000 properties

were cut-off in strong winds overnight. Matt Murray reports.

Taking another battering from the waves. Part of this road in Amroth

in Pembrokeshire lost to the sea. People here say that the fences

damaged a few weeks ago were taken away. The road has been damaged and

it is forced to close causing misery for many. It is devastating not just

for the business but for our everyday life. If I'll mail -- five

mile round trip to school usually, with this, it is 30 miles. The

battle to get power back on continues. Another 1,00 homes were

cut-off overnight. ScottishPower say they're aiming to get power restored

to all 4,000 remaining homes by midnight. 17 people were evacuated

from these flats in Barry after part building's roof was damaged. This is

a flat roofed building and is believed the winds were 80mph last

night. As these flats are close to the coast, these wins took off the

front of the building and the rain started leaking into people's

bedrooms. 86-year-old Elizabeth Curtis has lived at the flats for 12

years. It's the first time this has ever happened, and today her

daughter was assessing the damage. The main damages in the two

bedrooms. What are coming through the ceiling, as you can see. The bed

is saturated and the carpet is as well. All the other trustees turned

off at the moment. -- all the electricity. So in Barry, the clear

up continues, as does the misery of this unrelenting severe weather.

A pregnant woman and her unborn baby have died after a car crash on the

Heads of the Valleys Road. Two cars collided between Brynmawr and

Garnlydan in Blaenau Gwent last night. The woman, who was 20 and

from Tredegar, died at Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny.

Welsh Conservatives insist their party is united, despite the

controversial sacking of four Shadow Cabinet members. Andrew RT Davies

sacked them for rebelling against him in a vote on devolving income

tax. Senior figures said there was "zero support" at a Welsh

Conservatives board meeting for Mr Davies' decision. But the party said

leaks from that meeting were "bizarre" and that it was united.

Plans to centralise some hospital services in south Wales have been

criticised by a Labour MP. Chris Bryant, who represents the Rhondda

constituency, has told BBC Wales' Sunday Politics programme he plans

to fight the reorganisation plans, which would see some services moved

from the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant.

The weather forecast for Wales, here's Owain Wyn Evans. In very

heavy rain this morning and strong winds. Remaining quite unsettled the

supplement. Strong winds and patchy rain. That will turn to snow on

higher ground in parts of north-east Wales. Further south, a better

picture with a good chance of sunny spells in temperature. Top

temperatures of 7-8 Celsius. It will remain very windy this afternoon

especially on the south coast and West Coast. The wind eases overnight

and the skies were clear. You can see the map turning blue in some

places. We expect a frost tonight, temperatures close to freezing. Some

good news. Tomorrow is a better day across Wales. Plenty of sunny spells

and lighter winds for this area of low pressure makes its way towards

us, introducing heavy rain tomorrow night into Monday.
