the weekend. Wouldn't promise you two dry days but you never know,

here is Nick with the national picture.

Hello. We put that cold weekend well behind us now. Temperatures edging

upwards and our weather watchers are seeing plenty of signs of spring.

Spending more time looking down than looking up at the skies, we see

these early blooms. They are set to continue as we are set to stay mild

for several more days to come. Average daytime temperature this

time of year around eight, but getting into double figures all the

way through the weekend. The start of next week into the mid-teens

potentially, very mild indeed. It was 14 in Lincolnshire today. A lot

of heavy rain to end the day. That clearing from Yorkshire to the North

Sea. A few showers in the west and the odd one may continue into the

night. Many becoming dry, just this rain still into western parts of

Scotland gusty winds. Lighter winds to the south, a few fog patches and

the coldest rural spots may pick up a touch of frost.

For Thursday, low pressure to the north of Scotland, it's around that

we have some windy weather here and into Northern Ireland too and

northern England. Still some rain in north-west Scotland. That may ease a

bit into the afternoon. You have a bit of shelter further east in

Scotland. Getting off to a dry start in Northern Ireland, that's not

going to last. A mainly dry start in England and Wales. Again the further

south, the chillier it will be in rural spots and we might see a few

fog patches. Looks like mostly to parts of south-west England, not

widespread but if you get one of these appearing could be slow to

disappear tomorrow morning. Apart from the odd stray shower in England

and Wales tomorrow is looking dry, variable cloud, sunny spells and

look at the rain heading into Northern Ireland, though. The rain

in Scotland easing a bit. Brighter breaks coming through and the winds

easing off too. Double figures for many of us. Sunshine and it will

feel pleasant. Tomorrow evening, that rain in Northern Ireland, but

some of it looks like it will feed into parts of North Wales and

northern England. On Friday western parts of Scotland seeing a bit of

patchy rain. A few fog patches, especially in the south slow to

clear. Sunny spells in the east and outbreaks of rain reaching western

areas late in the day. This is how the weekend is shaping up, mild, we

have established that. Some owe captional sunshine. A lot of dry

weather. Chance of some rain, looks like northern parts of the UK

especially first half of Saturday. We will keep you up to date over the
