into the weekend, bitterly cold
north-easterly wind. | 0:00:01 | 0:00:04
Good evening. Storm Eleanor may have
passed, but I will explain to you | 0:00:05 | 0:00:12
that there could be another spell of
very windy weather heading our way | 0:00:12 | 0:00:16
tomorrow, not quite so strong, but
significant and up. These are the | 0:00:16 | 0:00:20
gusts we had from Storm Eleanor,
inland areas 76 mph in Sheffield, | 0:00:20 | 0:00:26
even London itself in excess of 70,
trees coming down, nasty disruptive | 0:00:26 | 0:00:32
storm, and in the north of Scotland
some wintry weather. Storm Eleanor | 0:00:32 | 0:00:37
is across southern parts of
Scandinavia, this next developing | 0:00:37 | 0:00:39
area of low pressure just in the
last few hours has been showing | 0:00:39 | 0:00:44
signs of intensifying a little bit
more than we thought a few hours | 0:00:44 | 0:00:48
ago. So this is what it looks like
through the rest of the night, rain | 0:00:48 | 0:00:51
splashing into many parts of western
and southern areas, certainly from | 0:00:51 | 0:00:57
Northern Ireland into Wales and the
South, clearing across many eastern | 0:00:57 | 0:01:00
and northern areas with a touch of
frost in Scotland. But the winds | 0:01:00 | 0:01:05
will really ramp up from morning
onwards across southern areas, so | 0:01:05 | 0:01:10
gale force winds developing along
the coasts and moving inland as | 0:01:10 | 0:01:15
well, so rough conditions once again
out at sea. The rain will have | 0:01:15 | 0:01:19
cleared by this stage. By that
stage, it is a crusties dangly, | 0:01:19 | 0:01:24
Yorkshire, south-western Scotland,
into Northern Ireland as well. The | 0:01:24 | 0:01:27
far north of Scotland, colder,
temperatures barely above freezing. | 0:01:27 | 0:01:36
A swathe of strong winds through
morning, lunchtime, afternoon across | 0:01:36 | 0:01:40
many parts of Wales and England,
could be 60 mph, possibly even | 0:01:40 | 0:01:45
Englund, stronger than that around
the coast. The message tomorrow | 0:01:45 | 0:01:52
across the western approaches,
moving eastwards, more very strong | 0:01:52 | 0:01:57
winds, stay tuned to the forecasts,
there could be more disruption. We | 0:01:57 | 0:02:00
don't think we will name this storm
because it does not meet the | 0:02:00 | 0:02:04
criteria. On Friday, another area of
low pressure bringing unsettled and | 0:02:04 | 0:02:09
blustery weather, so every day a
chance of strong winds but also | 0:02:09 | 0:02:13
sunshine. Then we change gear
completely towards the end of the | 0:02:13 | 0:02:20
weekend into the weekend, cold
winds, really cold winds out of the | 0:02:20 | 0:02:25
north or Northeast, temperatures
barely above freezing, with some | 0:02:25 | 0:02:28
wintry showers as | 0:02:28 | 0:02:28 |
