Flynn. Meetings to find school places for 140 children in Derby are

to take place after the weekend. It comes after the city's troubled free

school, Al`Madinah, was ordered by the Department of Education to shut

its secondary school at the end of the summer term. One teachers' union

says it reaffirms their fears that the free school system doesn't work.

The idea that anyone can set up a school anywhere they like, if the

schools fail it's OK to close them and leave children without

education. Education needs to be monitored by the local authority.

Schools need to be accountable to the public and taxpayer an run by

professional people. Parents need to know when their child is in a school

it will stay open. A Derbyshire charity has discovered a rare

archive film of its founder, Leonard Cheshire, in action during a daring

World War II mission. The footage shows a night`time raid on a French

factory that took place 70 years ago this evening. He gave 500 people in

the building time to escape and later explained why in a letter.

"Dropped them without warning would have certainly have caused fairly

serious loss of life without injury. I can only thank God that everybody

did in fact escape, except for the one unfortunate man who returned for

his bicycle." Mild disappointment for Nottingham's ice dancing duo in

today's team programme at the Winter Olympics. Penny Coomes and Nick

Buckland's performance in Sochi was popular with the crowd, but

penalised by judges on technical points. The pair, who won bronze at

the European Championships, finished seventh, which saw Team GB finish

tenth. They face their individual performances in a week. It's

significantly lower than what we got at the Europeans. Our technical

score was low. I haven't looked at the results yet. I don't know where

we lost those marks. That is the great thing about doing the Team

event. This isn't our individual event. We have a few more days. We

have to hit the technical elements. Pleased with the skate tonight. I

think we went out first event out in front of the crowd at the Olympics,

it's great. Onto today's football. Nottingham Forest had to settle for

a draw after conceding a late equaliser at Blackpool. Leicester

meanwhile got a late equaliser, drawing 2`2 at home to Watford. In

League One, Notts County move out of the relegation zone after a 3`0 win

over Coventry. In League two, Mansfield beat Southend 2`1 for the

Stag's first home win since September. In this afternoon's

rugby, Nottingham were defeated 17`13 at Jersey in the Championship.

Now, the weather affected shoppers in Loughborough today as high`winds

meant a dramatic change to the town's market. The local council

decided early this morning that no stalls could be set up. Some traders

set up make`shift stalls or operated instead out the back of their vans.

The council apologised, but said safety was its top priority. This

morning we received a text message to say if we wanted to stand on the

market we needed to bring our own stalls because of the weather

warnings. I came at 6. 30 am I set my stall up. I'm just about still

standing! If it hit someone it could kill someone. It could do a lot of

damage to someone. You understand the council's 0
