New figures show that the E`st Midlands has seen one of thd lowest

increases in weekly pay anywhere in the country.

The survey by the Office for National Statistics revdals

Retail workers and carers are near the bottom and the pay gap

between men and women remains pronounced.

When it comes to pay it seels the East Midlands is out of step

This time round our region saw the second lowest increase

in earnings in the first half of 2016, just by 9%.

The medium weekly pay in the East Midlands is ?483.

I check what's going into the account and it's ldss

So the government should really increase it.

They should give them a pay rise that would help to benefit.

I think there has been underinvestment in the East

Midlands, I probably see that on a daily basis.

I don't think there is as mtch investment in the East Midl`nds

as there is IN other part of the country.

If you work it out it's not a fat lot each year.

And I think with Brexit it will only get worse.

Despite the introduction of the national living wage a union

believes that benefits are being negated.

From the introduction of the national living wage we have

seen employers trying to recoup this additional cost.

They have done that by trying to reduce shift premiums,

overtime rates and taking away paid breaks.

This has meant that people's take-home pay has stayed thd same

and those below 25 have seen a reduction in that pay.

Staff are the most important asset to employers and a new national

living wage was unexpected as a policy announcement but as any

responsible employer would do they are looking at the whole thing

when it comes to costs parthcularly when you are thinking

about the uncertainties we have got coming up.

Men's weekly pay in the East Midlands is on average 25% higher

than women's and public sector workers are doing better

But if prices continue to go up post Brexit the pressure for pay

It has protection against flu which is a nasty disease. We offer it on a

yearly basis because the strings can change and helps in develophng the

immunity to protect the widdr community. Flu is highly contagious

and spreads rapidly. It's hoped that by aiming Isaac will primarx school

children it will help not only to stop the spread of the virus through

the school but to protect other friends and the rest of the family.

Last year the flu vaccination was offered to the parents of 76,00

children but only 44,000 chhldren were immunised. A take-up r`te of

58%. This year health offichals are hoping that more children whll have

the flu spray. I've had the flu spray because I don't want to spread

germs and get the flu myself will give it to ably us. It tickles you

knows a bit but it feels all right after a few seconds. It's rdally

important and I don't want to make my family ill because I lovd them.

We don't want our children being off because it affects their dedication.

Jarrett night was just thred when he got flu and at the time there wasn't

a vaccine for him. His mothdr is now urging parents to make sure they get

years ago and we spent thred months in hospital and he remained on

A project that helps protect university students on nights out

in Nottingham has proved so successful that it's

The Night Owls scheme is run entirely by volunteers.

They already have 130 student volunteers.
