And now the news for the East Midlands, I'm Maurice Flynn.

:00:00.:00:16.

One of the biggest cases evdr dealt with by the East Midlands

:00:17.:00:19.

Scambusters Team today saw ` company director jailed for six years.

:00:20.:00:22.

Jonathan Rivers, from the Wyvern Media Group in Ddrby

:00:23.:00:26.

was among ten people sentenced for the scam that prompted

:00:27.:00:29.

The man at the centre of wh`t the court heard were

:00:30.:00:35.

55-year-old Jonathan Rivers from Coleshill in Birminghal

:00:36.:00:41.

was the owner of publishing company Wyvern Media Group, based in Derby.

:00:42.:00:46.

He is believed to have earndd ?1.7 million between 2007-2012.

:00:47.:00:54.

Under his direction, employees focused on cold c`lling

:00:55.:00:57.

small firms to sell advertising space in its publications,

:00:58.:01:01.

like these, which were poor quality, mainly made up of adverts

:01:02.:01:04.

Staff misled customers into thinking the publications would be promoted

:01:05.:01:10.

at high-profile events or that they'd won awards that they'd need

:01:11.:01:14.

to pay to receive along with the associated advertising space.

:01:15.:01:19.

Unauthorised withdrawals were also made from customers' accounts.

:01:20.:01:24.

What they'd do on occasions when people made complaints

:01:25.:01:26.

is they would then threaten those individuals with legal action.

:01:27.:01:29.

Indeed, on occasions, they sought to take individtals

:01:30.:01:32.

through the County Court to recover the money they thought

:01:33.:01:35.

Over 500 people complained to Trading Standards

:01:36.:01:39.

One of them was this Uta Patterson from Shropshire who owned a dog

:01:40.:01:45.

rescue centre and died of ltng cancer last year.

:01:46.:01:49.

She lost over ?5,000 to the company, whom bombarded her with calls.

:01:50.:01:55.

She just said she wasn't hungry or...

:01:56.:02:08.

But that affected her a lot, not being to sleep.

:02:09.:02:12.

In total, ten people were sentenced today,

:02:13.:02:15.

all of whom pleaded guilty to their part in the fraud.

:02:16.:02:19.

Five were given jail terms ranging from six years to 16 months.

:02:20.:02:24.

The remaining five received suspended prison sentences,

:02:25.:02:28.

ranging from two years to three months.

:02:29.:02:31.

They were not happy to talk to the media as they left court

:02:32.:02:34.

this afternoon but one of them did apologise for her role.

:02:35.:02:37.

I am very sorry, and I regrdt everything about everything.

:02:38.:02:45.

The man accused of killing Derbyshire backpacker

:02:46.:02:51.

Mia Ayliffe-Chung has been charged with a second murder.

:02:52.:02:53.

Mia, from Wirksworth, died in Australia in August.

:02:54.:02:57.

Frenchman Smail Ayad, already charged with her murder

:02:58.:03:00.

has now been charged with the murder of Tom Jackson.

:03:01.:03:03.

He reportedly tried to protdct Mia, and died a week later

:03:04.:03:06.

The overnight closure of Grantham's A could continue.

:03:07.:03:10.

Despite local opposition, the unit has been shutting hts doors

:03:11.:03:13.

When it started in summer, it was meant to be a trial.

:03:14.:03:18.

But the United Lincolnshire Hospital's Trust is now recommending

:03:19.:03:20.

A former care worker's been jailed for sexual activity

:03:21.:03:27.

Robert Roberts from Sutton in Ashfield, here on the right,

:03:28.:03:32.

pleaded guilty to eight offdnces against a female inpatient.

:03:33.:03:36.

They took place in 2014 at the Millbrook Mental Health Unit,

:03:37.:03:39.

Roberts claimed he was in shock at the time, after his wife

:03:40.:03:45.

An exhibition is bringing b`ck memories of a firm that oncd

:03:46.:03:50.

The British Shoe Corporation had once been at the heart

:03:51.:03:55.

of the country's shoe industry, distributing millions

:03:56.:03:57.

If you bought a pair of shoes in the 1980s,

:03:58.:04:04.

there's a good chance they came from here.

:04:05.:04:07.

This is British Shoe Corpor`tion's distribution site in Leicester,

:04:08.:04:11.

filmed at its height, when around 2 million pairs

:04:12.:04:14.

of shoes arrived most weeks, destined for hundreds

:04:15.:04:18.

The British Shoe Corporation was a very importnat

:04:19.:04:22.

company to Leicester, probably one of the biggest employers,

:04:23.:04:25.

maybe the biggest companies, 2,500 people would actually

:04:26.:04:28.

The building had a floor arda of 1 million square feet,

:04:29.:04:35.

the equivalent of 11 football pitches.

:04:36.:04:38.

It was the largest single-storey warehouse in Europe.

:04:39.:04:42.

The warehouse closed in 1998, and, as you can see,

:04:43.:04:48.

the site is being bulldozed to make way for a new development.

:04:49.:04:53.

He worked for the company for 3 years and had the emotional job

:04:54.:04:58.

You closed the door, you looked through and you could see

:04:59.:05:04.

an empty warehouse, a very empty feeling.

:05:05.:05:08.

But, this week, a chance to remember happier times.

:05:09.:05:14.

This display in Leicester charts the corporation's history.

:05:15.:05:18.

It's attracted hundreds of former workers.

:05:19.:05:20.

It's open for the final time tomorrow.

:05:21.:05:29.

We're hearing tonight about an industrial fire

:05:30.:05:31.

It's at the Boughton Industrial Estate near Ollerton.

:05:32.:05:35.

The fire service advises anxone living nearby to keep

:05:36.:05:38.

doors and windows closed, as smoke may contain traces

:05:39.:05:40.

Nottingham's unveiled plans for how the city might mark

:05:41.:05:45.

2018 will be 100 years since fighting stopped

:05:46.:05:50.

Proposals up for considerathon include a new statue

:05:51.:05:55.

in Nottingham's memorial gardens, and projecting the names

:05:56.:05:57.

of Nottinghamshire's 14,000 fallen soldiers onto the existing war

:05:58.:06:01.

memorial to create the city's own Menin Gate.

:06:02.:06:04.

Everyone deserves a place in history.

:06:05.:06:07.

But, for the past century, many of these stories have remained

:06:08.:06:10.

submerged on memorials, in `rchives, in people's private collecthons

:06:11.:06:14.

So we think it would be a fhtting climax to that process to project

:06:15.:06:18.

the entire list onto this mdmorial which, for nearly a century,

:06:19.:06:22.

has commemorated the Great War loss without the names appearing on it.

:06:23.:06:28.

More from me tomorrow, but Kaye's here right now.

:06:29.:06:31.

It is looking a bit dull but at least it's quite. It has bedn dried

:06:32.:06:45.

today and mild but we have had a lot of cloud in the sky. It's bden very

:06:46.:06:50.

Drewery for much of the aftdrnoon and little change through the

:06:51.:06:54.

weekend. We stay dry and mild, not much in the way of sunshine. With

:06:55.:06:58.

light winds, we will see sole mist and fog through the nights. Maybe a

:06:59.:07:05.

spot or two of rain through the night but it's mostly dry. We will

:07:06.:07:09.

see some mist and fog forming in the early hours of the morning but it is

:07:10.:07:14.

a very mild night with a minimum of 13. It is a grey start the weekend.

:07:15.:07:22.

But fog could be slow to cldar but it will lift up to the low cloud.

:07:23.:07:26.

You'll be lucky to get some brightness but we are drier and mild

:07:27.:07:30.

with temperatures up to 15. But is it from us. I'll leave you with the

:07:31.:07:32.

outlook for the to come into the beginning of next

:07:33.:07:35.

week as well. Now the national picture.

:07:36.:07:41.

Hello, it's been a pretty good week for getting out and enjoying the

:07:42.:07:46.

autumn colours, especially if you have seen autumn sunshine. What

:07:47.:07:49.

sunshine,

:07:50.:07:50.
