Nottinghamshire's Police Commissioner has told

East Midlands Today the Prevent anti-extremism programme needs

Paddy Tipping's worried that it's alienating some Muslims

because they think they're being "spied on".

He was speaking after Leicestershire's Chief Constable

dismissed the spying claim as "hysterical".

Responding to the threat from terrorism, new armed police

patrols in Nottingham and Leicester, to reassure and to provide

But the Prevent programme is trying to deter people

from being radicalised by violent extremists.

These teenagers are being warned about the dangers

More controversially, schools also have a legal duty to refer

A teenage lad who was thinking of going to Syria, people around

were concerned about that, so mentoring was put around him.

And he has not gone to Syria, and his performance at school

That's what Prevent is about, it's about safeguarding people.

The Prevent programme's dealing with the threat

from violent far right groups, as well as Islamist extremists.

The challenge, achieving that without making

law-abiding communities feel they are being targeted, too.

Derby's been selected to take part in a national trial in which voters

will be asked to provide photo ID before casting

It's now a year since a long-awaited shopping and leisure complex opened

for business in Hinckley in Leicestershire -

and business leaders say it's thriving.

In addition to creating jobs, The Crescent has brought new stores,

restaurants and Hinckley's first cinema for decades.

The town's Business Improvement District says the local economy

The Crescent has been absolutely brilliant for Hinkley.

Another 150,000 a month in terms of footfall,

a vacancy rate no longer really exists at 4.7% and the town

is buzzing and people are happy with what they have got now.
