A man has been stabbed to death in Catterick Garrison.

The 34-year-old victim was found with fatal injuries at a centre

for homeless veterans on Thursday night.

North Yorkshire Police have not yet released the identify of the victim.

A 51-year-old man's been arrested on suspicion of murder

A man's died in a hit and run on Tyneside.

Police say the 20-year-old was struck by a car at 4.30am this

A service has been held in Middlesbrough to remember

To mark the 124th anniversary of PC Henderson's death,

a special service was held today at his graveside.

It was organised by Cleveland's police cadets.

It still shows importance, because it could happen again

And if it does, it's just showing that police officers do care.

And, like, they put their lives at risk to save yours.

The service was a timely reminder of the dangers our police face.

Now, he's a war hero who put his life on the line

73 years on, Leonard Wells from South Shields has been awarded

one of France's highest honours for his role in the D-Day Landings

Len, who's 99 today, was presented with the Chevalier de

la Legion d'Honneur at a short ceremony at his care

Leonard was a gunner with the 73rd anti-tank Regiment,

so he fired 25 pound artillery guns at enemy tanks.

It's a significant award, in recognition of his courage

An ethos on a similar level to an OBE.

Good evening. These and but not spectacular is probably a neat way

to describe the weather this Easter weekend. -- decent but not

spectacular. A bit of sunshine, patchy cloud and showers today, but

eastwards during tomorrow, spoiling east today for some, especially
