Good afternoon. A protest against planned cuts to Rotherham's

children's services is being held this lunchtime. It's been organised

by members of the union, UNHSON Rotherham Council is to close 1 of

its 22 children's centres, with the loss of more than 100 jobs. There

are now plans to cut a further 6 jobs from its Youth Support Service.

The council has to make ?23 million of savings.

Yorkshire Ambulance staff go on strike again later this aftdrnoon.

Members of the union Unite will walk out at three o'clock for five hours.

The Union says proposals to make workers go more than ten hotrs

without a meal break will ilpact on patient safety. It wants a protected

meal break of 30 minutes after six hours. The NHS Trust says it will

continue to safeguard patient care and will try and minimise the level

of disruption to its servicd. Onto sport, and in Rugby Le`gue

Leeds Rhinos were in action last night. They travelled to St Helens,

hoping to continue their undefeated start to their Super League season.

As Shamir Masri reports, it was a nail`biting match.

Leeds were hoping to retake top spot in the Super League last night

against a St Helens side looking to do the same. Danny McGuire's opening

try was the 250th of his career and Captain Kevin Sinfield's conversion

at Langtree Park took his Rhinos' tally to 3,500.

Saints forward Anthony Walkdr crossed the line to send both teams

in level at half`time. In the second half Sinfield kicked

two penalties either side of a Saints try from Tommy Makinson. And,

as the clock ran down it looked set for a 10`all draw.

In the dying seconds, Makinson crossed the line for his second to

inflict defeat on The Rhinos who now sits third in the League.

And the Super League Show whth all this weekend's action will be on

Monday night here on BBC Ond at ten to midnight.

Good afternoon. The clocks go forward by one hour tonight, British

Summer Time begins. Hard to believe that this was the scene exactly one

year ago in North Wales when we were in the grip of one of the coldest

springs for many a decade. A different story this weekend, of

course, with warm air wafting up from the near continent, and under

clear skies the temperatures soaring. It is not clear everywhere,

we have a lot of cloud further north and west, and with a damp start

across some areas, that cloud is thinning and trickling away,

brightening up here through this afternoon. Clear skies and sunshine

further east, wispy high cloud, temperatures topping out at 19

Celsius, possibly 20 in some spots despite a noticeable breeze. Foggy

across Lincolnshire, the south-east of Yorkshire, that has cleared away.
