An ice cream company in Bradford has been hit by two separate fires.

Both of them are being treated as arson.

Firefighters were first called to a cafe on Great Horton Road

in the city in the early hours and shortly afterwards to a factory

Police say they were targetted attacks.

Clearing up after a night of devastation. This is a takeaway in

Bradford. It's own by a family. A family jumped from a window to

escape. This is the first fire suffered by the company nearly hours

this morning. Ten minutes later, firefighters were called to a

warehouse two miles away, where a factory was well ablaze. Staff

working here also had had to be rescued. Up to half a dozen fire

officers are working hard behind B, trying to find out exactly what took

place here in the early hours of the morning. They say the blaze is still

smouldering, so they are trying to bring that under control. In a

statement, West Yorkshire Police police have also said these

incidents have caused concern within the community and as a result, they

will be increasing the number of patrols in the area.

A North Yorkshire charity, which helps people with learning

disabilities find work, says discrimination

is still stopping many adults from getting a job.

The Wilf Ward Trust runs a caf in Pickering,

where trainees can learn catering and hospitality skills.

But, as Ian Reeve reports, employers appear to shun

Damien is one of 17 staff working at this cafe in Pickering, all have

learning difficulties. Qualifications in catering and

hospitality could give him employment in mainstream areas.

Everyone gets on together. But the reality is that over the cafe's

four-year life, only one person from 45 has moved into mainstream work.

It's something that puzzles the manager, Sam. Somebody with a

disability can be an absolutely brilliant work. They can absolutely

do a job to the standard of anybody else and they should not be put off

by any kind of disability whatsoever. But for the boss of the

trust that runs the cafe, it is employers that need to change. What

can be a problem is people perhaps not understanding that just because

someone has a learning disability, doesn't mean they cannot be a

brilliant member of your team. It is that awareness and inside, and that

willingness to give people a chance. But things may be changing. Over

four .5 million people with disabilities don't currently work.

The government wants to get 1 million of them into employment. So

conventional employers will be encouraged to take up the slack.
