Scores of men and women from our region have been named


in the Queen's New Year's Honour's list.


Successful Olympians and Paralympians are especially well


represented, but some people have also been recognised for their work


It's been a fantastic year for Yorkshire's


sporting men and women, who've picked up trophies


It is no surprise, then, that they feature heavily


Heptathlete Jessica Ennis-Hill got the highest of the honours.


And who could forget this proud Yorkshireman?


NEWSREEL: Among the four Britons is Brian Robinson,


who, with his brother, Desmond...


60 years after becoming the first Briton to win a stage


in the Tour de France, Brian Robinson has received


the British Empire Medal for his services to cycling and charity.


The guys I was with, I was with a dozen guys


and they said, though, we're not going to call


So, things like that are quite amusing, really.


Seriously, it is a nice award at the end of a career, it is great.


A British Empire Medal, too, for Penderfield Hospital play


specialist Tracy Foster, who helps children with burns.


Mohammed Taj came to Britain in 1966.


He became the first Asian and Muslim trade unionist to be elected


president and worked hard to fight racism in the workplace.


What I have done over the last 40 years, so can you.


Don't accept no as an answer from anyone.


2016 has been a year to remember and celebrate.


Making us proud and making a difference.


Norman Rimmington - known as Mr Barnsley


and who died this week - was also named in the


Fans and players paid tribute to Norman before


He joined the club in 1945 and worked as a player,


assistant manager, groundsman, physio and kit man.


Before he died, aged 93, Norman was told he'd receive


He was Yorkshire through and through.


Even from the first day that we met him.


And everybody would do anything for him.


And everybody would listen to Norman.


He had his own way of talking to people.


There will never be another Norman Rimington.


I can't see anybody stopping at the club for 60, 70 years,


At the end of the day, he is a Barnsley legend.


To stay at the club for 71 years, doing various roles in the club.


He has been a member of the club, he has been our laundry man,


And we just wanted to lay a bit of respect.


In modern-day football, you don't see anybody else like him.


There's not a lot more I can say about a man like that.


Detectives investigating an incident where a police officer and member


of the public were shot in Bradford have made more arrests.


Yesterday, this footage was released of the incident outside


One man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder


and three others on suspicion of assisting an offender.


Another man questioned has been released on bail.


In the Championship, Barnsley let a two goal slip


Goals from Nakhi Wells and Adam Reach - both four


minutes into injury time - earned Huddersfield


and Sheffield Wednesday draws against Blackburn and Preston.


Sheffield United are top of League One going into 2017.


They left it late to beat Northampton 1-0.


In League Two, Doncaster came from behind to draw 1-1 at Mansfield.

Quite mild as well but we have got a weather front bringing rain down


from the North West, into Leeds around midnight and it


really makes for a very wet night in the making.


A bit of sleet as it starts to clear over the Pennines.


The lowest temperatures three or four degrees.


So, New Year's Day is off to really quite a wet start.


A bit of sleet or wet snow over the highest ground.


A gradual improvement feeding down from the north.


The afternoon looks brighter with sunshine and a few showers.
