Despite today's scorching temperatures,

more than 7,000 runners braved the heat

to take part in Sheffield's half-marathon.

The event's now in its third year

and takes in some of the most picturesque parts of the city.

Shamir Masri reports.

CHEERING AND KLAXONS

Nearly 7,500 people setting off from Arundel gate

in Sheffield this morning to tackle the 13-plus mile course.

Thousands more lined the streets to cheer the runners on,

but not just the adults.

Much younger runners, too, in the mini race.

Some as young as three years old.

Both winners in the male and female categories

were local runners from Sheffield.

It was a great showcase for the city.

Sheffield is on the crest of a wave.

We picked our moment, wonderful atmosphere, wonderful city.

Enormous crowds.

Conditions weren't typical of Sheffield in April,

more like a hot summer's day.

Painful and hot, but I enjoyed it.

The public cheered me on.

Warmer than last year, pretty tough, that is why the mask is up.

It was down before.

All round, great atmosphere.

Taking on lots of water.

Not been training in these temperatures.

Training the other week was about 5 degrees, wasn't it?

Slightly different!

The event was a huge success and if you think

you can tackle the distance, the Run For All's next half marathon

takes place in Leeds next month.

Police are at the scene of a suspected ram raid incident

in Leeds City Centre tonight.

Thieves targetted the designer store Louis Vuitton

by driving a car into the shop on Briggate.

An area around the store remains cordoned off

as investigations are carried out.

It's not yet clear how much damage there is or how much was stolen.

A 72-year-old man's been seriously injured

after being hit by a car in Doncaster.

It happened on the A19 near Cooke Street

shortly before midnight last night.

The man has serious injuries,

but police say he's in a stable condition in hospital.

There's been a large fire at a mushroom farm

in North Yorkshire.

Fire crews were called to the site at Thorpe Willougby near Selby

just after 8pm last night.

It took several hours to get the blaze under control,

but no-one was injured.

Nail-biting stuff in ice hockey as the Sheffield Steelers

became play-off champions.

Levi Nelson fired home the winner in the second overtime period

as they denied Cardiff Devils the Grand Slam with a 6-5 victory

at the Nottingham Ice Centre.

Yorkshire's double Olympic boxing champion, Nicola Adams,

A community farm in South Yorkshire has become an internet hit

after advertising its alpaca walks on social media.

They're proving so popular,

Holly Hagg Farm is struggling to meet demand.

David Tracz reports.

Cute and fluffy and the perfect hiking companion, it would seem.

Little wonder that when Holly Hagg Farm in Sheffield

invited people on Facebook to come and walk its alpacas,

thousands of people signed up.

The first year we had them, we got incredibly popular

because everybody wanted to see the alpacas.

We really started it up in earnest this year,

started advertising, and that's when we went viral.

In fact, the farm in Crosspool has had to put on extra treks to deal

with demand and is now asking alpaca lovers not to turn up

unless they have booked.

Never seen anything like this before.

It's not every day you can walk alpacas around Sheffield.

Seems really nice, you can stroke and cuddle him, he's ready to go.

The treks take place four times a week and cost ?15,

with the profits going back to the farm.

Remember, you have to book.

Hello again, good evening.

It's been really quite warm today, hasn't it?

But turning much cooler overnight tonight.

All this cloud and a bit of drizzle sinking down towards the south-east,

that's a cold front.

So temperatures afterwards are going to feel a bit colder,

certainly under clear skies,

as we head through to the early hours.

Lows overnight of six or seven, so a chilly start to tomorrow.

But some initial brightness, some dry weather around tomorrow.

Just a few showers and a bit of variable cloud popping up

through the afternoon.

These will be quite heavy, I think, along the east coast.

Temperatures tomorrow back to normal -

highs of about 12 or 13 degrees.
