a well organised event. Like if there's going to be

:02:00.:02:02.

somewhere you could bump into. For many here, it's

:02:03.:02:16.

still sinking in. It's a day for joy and enjoyment

:02:17.:02:19.

and so it was a shock to everyone and indeed everybody is in mourning

enquiries but as there are no suspicious circumstances they will

no hand over the matter to the coroner. It is highly likely

:03:14.:03:17.

therefore that an inquest will now follow, that will seek to establish

:03:18.:03:22.

exactly how and why Francis O'Sullivan came to lose his life. It

:03:23.:03:27.

may well be as well that on the conclusion of that inquest, the

:03:28.:03:30.

coroner makes certain recommendations as to how deaths

:03:31.:03:33.

like this could be prevented in the future. Thank you.

:03:34.:03:34.

Errors which led to a woman suffering a fatal haemorrhage

:03:35.:03:37.

after giving birth at a Kent hospital may not have been made

:03:38.:03:40.

if medical teams had listened to her wishes

:03:41.:03:42.

for an elective Caesarean section, an inquest heard today.

:03:43.:03:45.

Frances Cappuccini died at Tunbridge Wells hospital in 2012.

:03:46.:03:48.

Today her husband told the inquest how his wife pleaded

:03:49.:03:50.

In hospital, Frances Cappuccini told her husband, "I love you.

:03:51.:03:59.

If anything happens, just make sure you look

:04:00.:04:01.

Not long after, she died having lost a large amount of blood.

:04:02.:04:08.

Tom Cappuccini, her widowed husband - seen here in the red tie -

:04:09.:04:12.

told the hearing how tests during the pregnancy and experience

:04:13.:04:15.

of a difficult birth with their first child

:04:16.:04:22.

the need for an elective Caesarean section.

:04:23.:04:23.

Frances Cappuccini was admitted to Tunbridge Wells Hospital

:04:24.:04:27.

in October 2012 during the final stages of labour.

:04:28.:04:35.

But she died hours after a Caeserean birth.

:04:36.:04:37.

In April 2015, a doctor was charged with manslaughter, but a year ago,

:04:38.:04:40.

the trial collapsed and the doctor and the hospital trust were cleared.

:04:41.:04:43.

Today, Tom Cappuccini told the hearing how on arrival

:04:44.:04:47.

at Tunbridge Wells Hospital he and his wife explained how

:04:48.:04:49.

dangerous the birth of their first child was and how this time they had

:04:50.:04:54.

He said his wife had been terrified for months

:04:55.:04:59.

because of previous experience and he described her state

:05:00.:05:02.

The hearing was told how Mrs Cappuccini's Caeserean

:05:03.:05:09.

section was carried out after a 12 hour labour.

:05:10.:05:12.

The coroner was also told how a piece of placenta

:05:13.:05:14.

was left in her uterus, leading to the haemorrhage.

:05:15.:05:17.

The family's lawyer suggested that these errors may not have been

Police are appealing for information about the last movements of a man

:05:36.:05:37.

and woman whose bodies were found at the foot of cliffs in Dover.

:05:38.:05:41.

They are thought to have been twins, possibly staying

:05:42.:05:44.

The body of another man was also found at the bottom

The family of a young man who died at a New Year's Eve

:05:50.:05:55.

party in St Leonards, after falling four storeys

:05:56.:05:57.

from a flat, have today described him as a "bubbly" person

:05:58.:06:00.

who was "just like any normal young lad."

:06:01.:06:03.

Dan Dawson, who was 25-years-old, died after falling

:06:04.:06:05.

through the plastic roof of a kitchen annexe.

:06:06.:06:08.

Five people were arrested on suspicion of his murder

:06:09.:06:11.

BBC South East has discovered websites selling fake degrees

:06:12.:06:17.

for universities in the South East, despite a major crackdown.

:06:18.:06:22.

The Government has shut down more than 40 sites in 18 months.

:06:23.:06:26.

But a number of sites in the Far East are still offering

:06:27.:06:29.

certificates for institutions including the University of Sussex,

:06:30.:06:32.

Brighton University and the University of Kent.

:06:33.:06:37.

Bosses and union leaders came out of talks today and revealed

:06:38.:06:40.

there are no plans to hold formal meetings ahead of a planned six-day

:06:41.:06:43.

Now Sussex MPs are calling on the Government to step

:06:44.:06:48.

in to prevent the Southern rail network being brought

:06:49.:06:52.

to a standstill, again. Jon Hunt reports.

:06:53.:06:56.

For Southern passengers, the New Year has begun as the

:06:57.:06:59.

Buses replacing trains and services delayed.

:07:00.:07:05.

The only difference is they're now pay more for

:07:06.:07:07.

The fare increase is not reflective of the service they are offering.

:07:08.:07:13.

It is a disappointing situation and it's frustrating.

:07:14.:07:16.

The Government should really put a stop to the fare increases

:07:17.:07:19.

until they've sorted out what's going on here.

:07:20.:07:22.

Sussex MPS met with the Prime Minister before Christmas

:07:23.:07:25.

They're frustrated that the Government

:07:26.:07:28.

plan to cope with the six-day strike action starting

:07:29.:07:32.

on Monday and is expected to cripple the network.

:07:33.:07:36.

We were told plans would be in place if the strikes were not resolved.

:07:37.:07:39.

I've not heard any details of what those plans are.

:07:40.:07:42.

And I'm certainly going to be pushing ministers and the secretary

:07:43.:07:45.

of state for more information for my constituents because if the strikes

:07:46.:07:48.

aren't going to be resolved and talks fail before Christmas,

:07:49.:07:51.

what is the plan to help my constituents get

:07:52.:07:53.

A 72 hour walk out by the RMT union, which ended yesterday.

:07:54.:08:01.

A six day drivers strike is due to start

:08:02.:08:04.

Meanwhile, the train drivers union Aslef is continuing

:08:05.:08:08.

its band on overtime, which is causing daily disruption.

:08:09.:08:13.

Many commuters, particularly in the south

:08:14.:08:15.

east, people using Southern and South Eatern, have suffered

:08:16.:08:18.

a year of really substandard service, delays,

:08:19.:08:20.

standing on station platforms in the cold

:08:21.:08:22.

for hour after hour and they are

:08:23.:08:24.

right to feel quite angry about having to fork out an even

:08:25.:08:28.

larger wedge of their wages to travel to work.

:08:29.:08:34.

What Southern passengers now want is a glimmer of hope

:08:35.:08:36.

A sign that 2017 will bring an end to their misery.

:08:37.:08:43.

At the moment it looks like this six day strike is going to go ahead -

:08:44.:08:48.

is there any prospect of help for travellers at all?

:08:49.:08:57.

Sutherland is simply advising travellers against all but essential

:08:58.:09:02.

travel during this strike period, no trains will be running. Just before

:09:03.:09:06.

Christmas we learned that the army was being asked to draw up

:09:07.:09:09.

contingency plans to help commuters, no word on that yet. We heard today

:09:10.:09:16.

that more than 50 companies that run coaches and buses from as far afield

:09:17.:09:19.

as Cornwall and Northumberland were saying that they are available to

:09:20.:09:23.

help if that is required. We are expecting some kind of announcement

:09:24.:09:26.

from Sabin tomorrow. Thank you, John.

:09:27.:09:29.

And, we will be hosting a special Question Time style debate

:09:30.:09:33.

about the ongoing crisis on Southern rail services this Sunday

:09:34.:09:36.

If you live or work in the south east and want to be

:09:37.:09:39.

in the audience, send an email to [email protected]

:09:40.:09:41.

with your details and how you've been affected.

:09:42.:09:46.

Now let's take a look at the weather in the south-east

:09:47.:09:48.

This morning it was a really frosty start. Temperatures dropped as low

:09:49.:10:02.

as minus five degrees. We are all seeing a hard frost to start the day

:10:03.:10:06.

but as we go through tonight, what a difference. We'll be seeing

:10:07.:10:10.

workload, the winds pick up, temperatures stay above freezing for

:10:11.:10:13.

the most part. Overnight lows ranging between two and 5 degrees.

:10:14.:10:18.

In much milder start to the date for Wednesday and a good deal more cloud

:10:19.:10:23.

cover around as well. First thing we have got this cold front around,

:10:24.:10:28.

workload and patchy drizzle, but it clears through and behind it there

:10:29.:10:33.

is lots of sunshine and temperatures are quite chilly. First thing is

:10:34.:10:36.

going to be quite a girl picture. Like patchy rain and drizzle. By the

:10:37.:10:42.

afternoon, lots of sunshine with light northerly breezes. It is

:10:43.:10:44.

fuelling chilly, temperatures reaching highs of 67 degrees. A

:10:45.:10:51.

crisp afternoon and then from Wednesday into Thursday, those

:10:52.:10:53.

temperatures rarely fall away. Once again dropping below freezing, -2 or

:10:54.:10:59.

three degrees possible. Lots of sunshine on Thursday, highs of 5

:11:00.:11:00.

degrees. milder later in the week. That is it

:11:01.:11:05.

from me but coming up next is the national picture. Good evening. But

:11:06.:11:12.

frost or not of frost, that is the weather question for tomorrow and

:11:13.:11:16.

the answer is no, probably not because of this weather front that

:11:17.:11:21.

is slipping south from Scotland, maybe towards the south-west where

:11:22.:11:24.

we might have one or two pockets of clearer skies. The real cold air is

:11:25.:11:29.

in the north, behind that cold front and that will be as significant as

:11:30.:11:33.

we move into Thursday morning. It means that overnight temperatures

:11:34.:11:37.

will stay just above freezing with the exception in parts of Scotland.

:11:38.:11:42.

Around three or 5 degrees in many towns and city centres but the cold

:11:43.:11:46.

air behind that fund really kicks in on Wednesday night into Thursday

:11:47.:11:50.

with a widespread hard frost quite possible. Wednesday morning, this is

:11:51.:11:55.

the front bringing some nuisance cloud and outbreaks of light,

:11:56.:11:58.

drizzly rain. In the south-west you might see a bit of early-morning

:11:59.:12:00.

brightness

:12:01.:12:02.
