Hello. Time we updated you on our thoughts about what's to come | 0:00:02 | 0:00:05
in the forthcoming week and then we'll push our luck | 0:00:05 | 0:00:07
a little bit and give you a sense of what's going to go on through | 0:00:07 | 0:00:10
the course of next weekend and beyond. | 0:00:10 | 0:00:13
Don't despair at the start of this week if it's particularly wet | 0:00:13 | 0:00:16
with you across the south-western quarter of the British Isles | 0:00:16 | 0:00:18
in the first part of the day. | 0:00:18 | 0:00:20
Once we get on towards lunchtime and early afternoon, | 0:00:20 | 0:00:22
much of that rain will have faded away and been replaced by | 0:00:22 | 0:00:25
showers and there will be generally a mix of sunny spells | 0:00:25 | 0:00:28
and showers quite widely. | 0:00:28 | 0:00:30
Although the rain will return to Northern Ireland just in time | 0:00:30 | 0:00:33
for the school run and the commute. | 0:00:33 | 0:00:35
Now, once Monday is out of the way, the rest of the week falls | 0:00:35 | 0:00:39
into something of a pattern where we have rain at times. | 0:00:39 | 0:00:41
It'll be breezy and with that wind coming from the west and | 0:00:41 | 0:00:44
the south-west for the most part, it will be on the mild side. | 0:00:44 | 0:00:48
We establish that pattern as early as Tuesday. | 0:00:48 | 0:00:51
It may not seem that way first up because the skies may have cleared | 0:00:51 | 0:00:54
overnight and it will be a chilly start to the new day on Tuesday. | 0:00:54 | 0:00:57
A lot of dry, bright, fine weather around. | 0:00:57 | 0:01:00
But those weather fronts from the Atlantic make their presence | 0:01:00 | 0:01:02
felt across western parts initially. | 0:01:02 | 0:01:05
The further east you are, the drier your day will be. | 0:01:05 | 0:01:08
But eventually, | 0:01:08 | 0:01:09
that weather front will come to tumble its way ever further | 0:01:09 | 0:01:12
towards the east and south bringing some pretty wet spells of weather. | 0:01:12 | 0:01:16
Whilst you're sandwiched between the warm front and the cold front, | 0:01:16 | 0:01:19
really murky affair with the cloud sitting very low in the atmosphere. | 0:01:19 | 0:01:22
Come Wednesday, | 0:01:22 | 0:01:24
low pressure close by to Scotland will keep it very blustery | 0:01:24 | 0:01:26
and breezy throughout the day across Scotland, Northern Ireland, | 0:01:26 | 0:01:29
the north of England. Plenty of showers here. | 0:01:29 | 0:01:31
Somewhat drier across the Midlands and the north of Wales. | 0:01:31 | 0:01:34
That weather front doesn't actually, we think, get right away from | 0:01:34 | 0:01:38
the southern counties of both England and Wales during the day. | 0:01:38 | 0:01:41
It's mild at 13 or 14, | 0:01:41 | 0:01:43
but I don't think you'll want to stand around in it. | 0:01:43 | 0:01:45
Then just when you thought you'd seen the last of it, | 0:01:45 | 0:01:47
it returns as a warm front bringing mild airs from the Atlantic, | 0:01:47 | 0:01:53
but the cloud sitting, again, very low in the atmosphere. | 0:01:53 | 0:01:55
A lot of hill fog, damp moving up from the south-west | 0:01:55 | 0:01:58
to Wales and on towards Northern Ireland through the day. | 0:01:58 | 0:02:01
The best of any brightness to the east of the Pennines and up | 0:02:01 | 0:02:04
in that north-eastern corner of Scotland. | 0:02:04 | 0:02:06
Again, because the wind is coming from the south-west, | 0:02:06 | 0:02:08
top temperature on the day could be around 14, possibly even 15 degrees. | 0:02:08 | 0:02:12
From Thursday into Friday, we still have that run of mild, | 0:02:12 | 0:02:15
south-westerlies. | 0:02:15 | 0:02:17
Detail at this stage is difficult to pin down, | 0:02:17 | 0:02:20
but we think that the low pressure will still be pretty dominant | 0:02:20 | 0:02:23
and one of the scenarios for the weekend is to keep the low | 0:02:23 | 0:02:26
pressure, or something very like it, very close by to | 0:02:26 | 0:02:29
the north-western quarter of the British Isles. | 0:02:29 | 0:02:32
You can well imagine having seen | 0:02:32 | 0:02:34
the week thus far, if you are | 0:02:34 | 0:02:35
anywhere close by that low pressure, | 0:02:35 | 0:02:37
then it is going to be unsettled. | 0:02:37 | 0:02:39
There'll be spells of rain. The wind will be quite noticeable at times. | 0:02:39 | 0:02:43
Further south, there isn't a vacuum, we'll just build in | 0:02:43 | 0:02:45
relatively higher pressure there trying to settle things down | 0:02:45 | 0:02:48
across the southern parts of the British Isles. | 0:02:48 | 0:02:51
So the wet and windy fare towards the north-west. | 0:02:51 | 0:02:54
Further south, it could be somewhat drier, brighter, | 0:02:54 | 0:02:57
perhaps a tad warmer as well. | 0:02:57 | 0:02:59
That's one of the scenarios. | 0:02:59 | 0:03:01
The other scenario that we have on our minds at the moment, is to | 0:03:01 | 0:03:05
bring a low pressure across the northern parts of the British Isles, | 0:03:05 | 0:03:08
park it over Denmark, build a high pressure out towards the west. | 0:03:08 | 0:03:12
That then funnels northerlies and north-easterlies down | 0:03:12 | 0:03:15
and across the British Isles so that could push some showers into | 0:03:15 | 0:03:18
the north of Scotland. | 0:03:18 | 0:03:19
Whatever scenario, we'll keep it fairly wet there. | 0:03:19 | 0:03:21
Breezy at times too, but I think the average temperature will | 0:03:21 | 0:03:25
prevail for most of us for a good part of the week. | 0:03:25 | 0:03:28
Bye-bye. | 0:03:28 | 0:03:30 |
