Hello. Well, the weather looks like settling down again as we get | 0:00:02 | 0:00:04
into early April but late March | 0:00:04 | 0:00:06
is developing something of an identity crisis. | 0:00:06 | 0:00:08
Huge amounts of variety up and down the UK. | 0:00:08 | 0:00:10
For some of us in the sunshine, it's going to feel like early summer, | 0:00:10 | 0:00:14
20 or 21 degrees, whereas for others, | 0:00:14 | 0:00:17
it's going to be quite a lot of rain and inevitably it won't feel | 0:00:17 | 0:00:20
anything like as comfortable here. | 0:00:20 | 0:00:22
Most of the rain on Wednesday | 0:00:22 | 0:00:23
out west and fairly wet weather | 0:00:23 | 0:00:25
actually surging up through the Irish Sea, | 0:00:25 | 0:00:27
parts of West Wales, Northern Ireland, | 0:00:27 | 0:00:29
north-west England seeing some of that wet weather, | 0:00:29 | 0:00:31
pushing up into Scotland too, | 0:00:31 | 0:00:33
whereas, as you can see, | 0:00:33 | 0:00:34
further south and east, it stays mostly dry. | 0:00:34 | 0:00:36
The dry weather holding on | 0:00:36 | 0:00:37
across the far north-east of Scotland. | 0:00:37 | 0:00:39
Quite chilly here, | 0:00:39 | 0:00:40
but the rest of Scotland milder but wetter. | 0:00:40 | 0:00:42
Some are drier spells for Northern Ireland, | 0:00:42 | 0:00:44
by not to be relied upon. | 0:00:44 | 0:00:45
Further rain for north-west England, | 0:00:45 | 0:00:48
West Wales again, | 0:00:48 | 0:00:49
and just fringing into Cornwall perhaps, | 0:00:49 | 0:00:51
but points east of that, | 0:00:51 | 0:00:52
actually not seeing much rain at all. | 0:00:52 | 0:00:54
A lot of dry weather | 0:00:54 | 0:00:55
albeit quite cloudy, but mild and muggy, | 0:00:55 | 0:00:58
mid-teens quite widely. | 0:00:58 | 0:00:59
Mind you, that's as nothing compared to the warmth which is going | 0:00:59 | 0:01:02
to waft up into some parts of the south-east and East Anglia | 0:01:02 | 0:01:05
on Thursday, courtesy of southerly winds. | 0:01:05 | 0:01:08
Somebody somewhere could well hit 20 or 21 degrees. | 0:01:08 | 0:01:12
Further north and west, though, | 0:01:12 | 0:01:13
it's progressively cooler. | 0:01:13 | 0:01:14
Mid-teens is the best I can offer you | 0:01:14 | 0:01:16
and we'll have some more of that rain again, | 0:01:16 | 0:01:17
particularly up through the Irish Sea, | 0:01:17 | 0:01:19
West Wales seeing quite a lot of rain, | 0:01:19 | 0:01:21
perhaps north-west England. | 0:01:21 | 0:01:22
Some drier spells for Northern Ireland | 0:01:22 | 0:01:24
and Scotland, but nothing like as warm | 0:01:24 | 0:01:26
as it will be in the sunshine | 0:01:26 | 0:01:27
across the south-east. | 0:01:27 | 0:01:29
Another batch of rain turning up | 0:01:29 | 0:01:30
across western areas again on Friday | 0:01:30 | 0:01:32
and that's going to start to head its way | 0:01:32 | 0:01:34
further eastwards through the day. | 0:01:34 | 0:01:35
Ahead of that still some warmth, | 0:01:35 | 0:01:37
but that rain is coming | 0:01:37 | 0:01:39
courtesy of a cold front | 0:01:39 | 0:01:40
and that cold front will displace the warmer air - | 0:01:40 | 0:01:43
a fresher end to the week for all of us | 0:01:43 | 0:01:45
and the weekend starts on that fresh note - | 0:01:45 | 0:01:48
blobs of blue indicating some showers, | 0:01:48 | 0:01:50
there is a ridge of high pressure building in from the west, though. | 0:01:50 | 0:01:53
So to sum up this weekend, we start off on that showery note, | 0:01:53 | 0:01:56
1st of April, of course, then it turns the drier and finer on Sunday, | 0:01:56 | 0:02:00
some chilly nights, though. | 0:02:00 | 0:02:01
A bit more detail then - | 0:02:01 | 0:02:03
here's a snapshot for Saturday. | 0:02:03 | 0:02:04
Don't take the location | 0:02:04 | 0:02:06
of the blobs of blue too literally, | 0:02:06 | 0:02:08
just indicating a lot of showers around. | 0:02:08 | 0:02:09
Some of those showers quite slow-moving | 0:02:09 | 0:02:11
cos the winds will be fairly light. | 0:02:11 | 0:02:12
It'll feel cooler than it has done | 0:02:12 | 0:02:14
for a good few of us, despite some sunshine. | 0:02:14 | 0:02:17
A chilly start to Sunday, | 0:02:17 | 0:02:18
but the showers will have gone by then. | 0:02:18 | 0:02:19
For most of us it'll be a drier day, | 0:02:19 | 0:02:21
light winds, very pleasant indeed, | 0:02:21 | 0:02:23
although the temperature's not spectacularly high. | 0:02:23 | 0:02:25
I think with light winds, it will feel quite nice. | 0:02:25 | 0:02:28
And then we look across the other side of the Atlantic | 0:02:28 | 0:02:31
for indications for next week. | 0:02:31 | 0:02:33
We're keeping an eye on this blob of cloud. | 0:02:33 | 0:02:35
It's an area of low pressure, actually, | 0:02:35 | 0:02:37
which is going to start to track its way north-eastwards we think | 0:02:37 | 0:02:40
as we go through the next week days. | 0:02:40 | 0:02:42
Now the track of that's going to be pivotal. | 0:02:42 | 0:02:44
I'm not going to lie to you, | 0:02:44 | 0:02:46
we don't know the exact track of this low, | 0:02:46 | 0:02:47
but it does look as if it's going to develop into a big, big feature | 0:02:47 | 0:02:50
through the middle part of the Atlantic through this weekend | 0:02:50 | 0:02:54
and throw up a ridge of high pressure across us. | 0:02:54 | 0:02:58
Now then, if that tracks its way up towards the north-west, | 0:02:58 | 0:03:01
we stay in the clear and it does look as if that jet stream | 0:03:01 | 0:03:04
will stay to the north-west of us for the most part through next week, | 0:03:04 | 0:03:08
keeping most of the rain to the north-west, | 0:03:08 | 0:03:10
but also keeping us in mostly warm air. | 0:03:10 | 0:03:15
North-westernmost parts of the UK are likely to see some rain | 0:03:15 | 0:03:17
at times next week, but many of us will be dry. | 0:03:17 | 0:03:21
And it will be warm, I think, | 0:03:21 | 0:03:22
particularly the further south and east we go. | 0:03:22 | 0:03:25
So for a good few of us | 0:03:25 | 0:03:26
it's a fairly bright outlook. | 0:03:26 | 0:03:27
We'll update you again tomorrow. | 0:03:27 | 0:03:29 |
