04/04/2017 Weather for the Week Ahead

Hello there.

Quite a bit of sniffling and sneezing going on on Monday

across some parts of England and Wales,

with a high tree pollen count, but we also saw a good deal of sunshine.

In the sunshine, to the east of London,

we got temperatures at around about 18 Celsius.

But we're not going to see temperatures that high

over the next few days

and we're not going to see the same levels

of tree pollen either,

cos all these weather fronts

are moving in from the west.

Eventually we'll see this cleaner, fresher,

cooler Atlantic air moving in.

Rain will clear away from Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Turn a bit chilly here,

but with cloud across England and Wales,

temperatures should be up at around 8 or 9 degrees first thing.

Generally speaking, this week, as I say,

a little bit cooler - 11-14, 15 degrees

will be quite typical.

A lot of dry weather with variable cloud

and some sunshine.

Not much sunshine for eastern England, though,

through the day on Tuesday.

A lot of cloud, outbreaks of rain on and off.

After a grey start in Wales,

it'll begin to brighten up into the afternoon.

Quite windy further north,

northern Scotland in particular.

That's where we're going to see some showers

moving through on the breeze.

But the eastern and southern parts of Scotland

doing quite well into the afternoon,

staying largely dry.

It's dry too with variable clouds of sunshine

in Northern Ireland, northern England too.

There's some sunshine to be had in Wales

through the afternoon.

10 degrees on the coast of Cardigan Bay,

but around about 15 or so in Cardiff.

12 or 13 in the London area with that cloud.

That patchy rain on and off throughout the day.

A chilly start on Wednesday,

but a bright start for many.

Cloud amounts probably increasing

for many areas.

Still quite breezy across the north and west.

It's here where we're most likely to see

a shower or two through the middle part of the week,

but lighter winds in the south and west.

That's where we'll probably hang on

to the best of the sunny spells.

12 degrees in Cardiff, 14 in London,

11 or so for Glasgow and for Belfast.

So we've got high pressure through the middle of the week

that will last through into the end of the week as well.

Not a great deal of change, really.

By Thursday we've still got high pressure in charge,

weather fronts going around the top of that high,

so most places are fine and dry,

but still quite windy across northern parts

of the UK.

Again it's here where we might just see

a little bit of rain, but most places are fine and dry

with lighter winds further south.

15 degrees in London. Not so bad.

Fair bit of cloud,

little bit of sunshine poking through at times.

As we head towards the end of the week,

that high is still with us.

Still a fair number of isobars

across the north of the UK in particular.

That's where we're going to see the strongest winds

once again for the end of the week.

Again, it's in the north and west with the breeze

where there's a chance of seeing a little bit of rain.

Elsewhere, it's fine and dry.

The winds are that bit lighter.

Again, it's variable amounts of cloud, some sunshine,

and temperatures in that range of 11 to 15 degrees.

That big high is still with us

for the start of the weekend.

Still a bit breezy in the north and west.

It's here where we might see a little bit of rain.

Lighter winds further south.

Again, it's variable clouds,

a bit of sunshine after a chilly start.

11-15 degrees again.

Starting to see some changes for the second part of the weekend

as high pressure drifts away towards the near continent,

allowing lower pressure to show its head

in the far north and west.

But to the south, I think the influence of that high

will still be felt for the second part of the weekend, however,

looking ahead into the following week, changes are on the way.

We lose the high pressure and it looks like low pressure

will be taking over. As it does so,

we're going to see a quite cold north-westerly wind developing.

That will spread its way right away across the UK.

As it does so, it's likely to bring

increasingly unsettled weather with it.

You're going to see things turning colder, that's for sure.

Eight to ten days from now, notably colder with some rain at times.

Even cold enough for a little bit of wintry weather over the hills

in the north of the UK.

That wind will accentuate the chilly feel to things.
