Hello, there. At one point in the Weather For The Week Ahead

0:00:020:00:04

we're going to go from summer warmth to some late winter snow.

0:00:040:00:08

Before we get there, things are fairly quiet.

0:00:080:00:10

Not particularly straightforward,

0:00:100:00:12

because there's a lot of cloud in the forecast

0:00:120:00:14

through Thursday, but how thin it's going to be

0:00:140:00:16

and how many breaks, that's difficult to judge.

0:00:160:00:18

The breaks are more likely

0:00:180:00:19

with some sunshine across eastern Scotland

0:00:190:00:21

and northeast England.

0:00:210:00:22

Where the wind is a bit stronger,

0:00:220:00:23

just across Scotland,

0:00:230:00:24

it will bring differences in Scotland.

0:00:240:00:26

Western Scotland could be cloudy and a little damp.

0:00:260:00:29

Otherwise, I think it'll be

0:00:290:00:30

a dry day on Thursday.

0:00:300:00:31

For most of us, again it will stay dry overnight.

0:00:310:00:34

Where the cloud breaks arrive -

0:00:340:00:35

possibly in parts of Wales,

0:00:350:00:37

the West Midlands,

0:00:370:00:38

maybe into the southwest of England,

0:00:380:00:40

again, eastern Scotland, northeast England -

0:00:400:00:42

will turn chilly.

0:00:420:00:43

2-4 degrees or so, but otherwise,

0:00:430:00:45

under the cloud, about 7 Celsius.

0:00:450:00:47

Friday is pretty much deja vu.

0:00:470:00:50

The best of the sunshine more likely in eastern Scotland,

0:00:500:00:53

northeast England,

0:00:530:00:55

quite a lot of cloud around elsewhere.

0:00:550:00:56

It's quite thin, so it'll be bright at times.

0:00:560:00:58

Again with those winds coming in from the Atlantic,

0:00:580:01:01

there may be a little light rain or drizzle

0:01:010:01:03

across the northwest of Scotland.

0:01:030:01:04

Those are the temperatures,

0:01:040:01:06

again possibly up to 13 or 14 degrees.

0:01:060:01:08

Quiet, because high pressure is sitting

0:01:080:01:10

right over the UK.

0:01:100:01:11

But things will change as we head into the weekend.

0:01:110:01:14

We're going to find the high pressure migrating

0:01:140:01:16

into central Europe. As it does so,

0:01:160:01:17

these weather fronts approach

0:01:170:01:19

the northwest of the UK,

0:01:190:01:20

but will also draw up more of a southerly wind

0:01:200:01:22

that will blow in some warmth,

0:01:220:01:24

particularly if we get the sunshine.

0:01:240:01:26

That is more likely across England and Wales.

0:01:260:01:29

This is Saturday.

0:01:290:01:30

Already it's become brighter,

0:01:300:01:32

there's a bit more sunshine around.

0:01:320:01:33

We haven't really got the warm air yet,

0:01:330:01:35

but temperatures will be a bit higher

0:01:350:01:36

for many parts of the country.

0:01:360:01:37

Again, it should be fine and dry.

0:01:370:01:40

It's really as we head

0:01:400:01:41

into the second half of the weekend,

0:01:410:01:43

we've got much more sunshine across England and Wales,

0:01:430:01:45

but for Scotland and Northern Ireland,

0:01:450:01:47

more in the way of cloud here still.

0:01:470:01:49

Later on, this band of rain arriving

0:01:490:01:51

in the northwest of the UK.

0:01:510:01:52

So temperatures aren't going to rise that much

0:01:520:01:55

for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

0:01:550:01:57

It's really across England and Wales

0:01:570:01:58

in the sunshine and those southerly breezes

0:01:580:02:00

that will see the numbers getting up

0:02:000:02:02

as high as 23 Celsius in the southeast of England.

0:02:020:02:05

A bit of summer warmth.

0:02:050:02:06

But then we lurch from that

0:02:060:02:07

into something much colder for Monday.

0:02:070:02:09

That weather front weakens

0:02:090:02:11

as it heads down across the UK,

0:02:110:02:12

but instead of a southerly wind,

0:02:120:02:14

we get more of a northerly wind,

0:02:140:02:16

so that means we're going to find

0:02:160:02:17

there'll be some sunshine around.

0:02:170:02:19

For many in the southern half of the UK, it'll be dry.

0:02:190:02:21

But further north, particularly in the north of Scotland,

0:02:210:02:24

there'll be some showers.

0:02:240:02:25

Here, the temperatures will be significantly lower,

0:02:250:02:28

so much so that over the mountains of Scotland,

0:02:280:02:31

we may well have a little bit more fresh snow.

0:02:310:02:33

But that cold air is going to be very short-lived.

0:02:330:02:36

It's really on Monday that we've got that northerly air flow

0:02:360:02:40

across the UK, but as we head into Tuesday,

0:02:400:02:42

the colder air gets shunted away

0:02:420:02:44

towards Scandinavia and things start to turn milder

0:02:440:02:46

as we get more of a westerly.

0:02:460:02:48

That sets us up for later on in the week,

0:02:480:02:50

approaching the Easter weekend, of course.

0:02:500:02:53

High pressure across the southern half of the UK,

0:02:530:02:55

stronger westerly winds,

0:02:550:02:56

Atlantic winds across the north.

0:02:560:02:58

With that, not only will we see the stronger wind,

0:02:580:03:01

but we could drive in some areas of low pressure close to Scotland,

0:03:010:03:05

threatening to bring something more changeable here.

0:03:050:03:07

We sort of sum it up north, south for the early part of Easter.

0:03:070:03:10

More likely to have cloud, perhaps some rain at times,

0:03:100:03:12

although there could be some drier and brighter spells

0:03:120:03:15

developing perhaps by Saturday across the north.

0:03:150:03:17

The boundary will shift a little bit, but generally speaking,

0:03:170:03:20

further south across the UK, early Easter looks like

0:03:200:03:23

we're back into high pressure, so it should be dry.

0:03:230:03:25

There'll be some sunshine, but, again,

0:03:250:03:27

no significant rain in the southeast.
