Hello. We'll look at the Easter weather forecast in a moment. | 0:00:02 | 0:00:04
One thing I can tell you straightaway is that | 0:00:04 | 0:00:06
it won't be as warm as the weather we're seeing this weekend. | 0:00:06 | 0:00:09
It really is warming up across many parts of the country, | 0:00:09 | 0:00:12
even on Saturday, more sunshine across northern England, | 0:00:12 | 0:00:14
Northern Ireland, up into Scotland, away from the far north of Scotland | 0:00:14 | 0:00:18
and another lovely day across England and Wales. | 0:00:18 | 0:00:21
After a chilly start, those temperatures will rise sharply, | 0:00:21 | 0:00:24
probably peaking again towards the south-east, 20 or 21 or so, | 0:00:24 | 0:00:27
but a warmer day for Northern England than it was on Friday, | 0:00:27 | 0:00:30
so too across Northern Ireland and most of Scotland. | 0:00:30 | 0:00:33
Now, during the evening and overnight with light winds, | 0:00:33 | 0:00:36
no wind at all and clear skies, temperatures will fall away, | 0:00:36 | 0:00:39
there will be one or two mist and fog patches, | 0:00:39 | 0:00:41
and we start to cloud over in the north-west of Scotland | 0:00:41 | 0:00:44
and much of Northern Ireland, but where we have the clearer skies | 0:00:44 | 0:00:46
in the countryside it will be chilly - | 0:00:46 | 0:00:48
perhaps not quite as cold, though, as early on Saturday morning. | 0:00:48 | 0:00:51
Warmer air, clearer air is pushing its way on these southerly winds | 0:00:51 | 0:00:54
but it's meeting this weather front here, | 0:00:54 | 0:00:56
so a clash taking place on Sunday. | 0:00:56 | 0:00:58
Apart from eastern Scotland, which doesn't look too bad | 0:00:58 | 0:01:01
for most of the day, the rest of Scotland not as good, | 0:01:01 | 0:01:03
so too Northern Ireland, clouding over, | 0:01:03 | 0:01:05
this band of rain coming down on that weather front too, | 0:01:05 | 0:01:07
but for England and Wales a lot of sunshine, | 0:01:07 | 0:01:10
maybe a bit more cloud filling in our across the Irish Sea, | 0:01:10 | 0:01:12
so where we have the cloud, 13 or 14 degrees, | 0:01:12 | 0:01:15
but the temperatures are set to peak across eastern England, | 0:01:15 | 0:01:18
23 north of London, up towards the East Midlands and Cambridgeshire. | 0:01:18 | 0:01:22
This heat isn't going to last much longer, though. | 0:01:22 | 0:01:24
This weather front bringing the rain in the north-west on Sunday | 0:01:24 | 0:01:28
sweeps southwards, brings no rain at all, really, | 0:01:28 | 0:01:31
but introduces a north-westerly wind, bringing in some colder air, | 0:01:31 | 0:01:35
so for many of us Monday may well be dry, | 0:01:35 | 0:01:38
we may well have rather cloudy skies like this, | 0:01:38 | 0:01:41
it will feel colder, | 0:01:41 | 0:01:42
certainly looks colder across Scotland, in northern Scotland, | 0:01:42 | 0:01:45
where there may well be some wintry showers around as well | 0:01:45 | 0:01:48
but many places will have a dry day, | 0:01:48 | 0:01:50
but these are the maximum temperatures and for some parts | 0:01:50 | 0:01:53
of England and Wales, they're some eight degrees lower than Sunday. | 0:01:53 | 0:01:58
Now, that north-westerly, that cooler wind won't last into Tuesday | 0:01:58 | 0:02:03
because it gets cut off, the colder air goes into Scandinavia. | 0:02:03 | 0:02:07
Instead we get more of a westerly wind | 0:02:07 | 0:02:09
around the top of that high pressure, which will blow in | 0:02:09 | 0:02:11
more cloud across Northern Ireland, Northern England and Scotland. | 0:02:11 | 0:02:14
Most of the rain will be in Scotland, | 0:02:14 | 0:02:16
it could be quite wet in the north-west, but for England, | 0:02:16 | 0:02:19
southern England, Midlands, Wales, it's going to be dry. | 0:02:19 | 0:02:21
Still those temperatures no better than about 15 degrees or so | 0:02:21 | 0:02:24
underneath that area of high pressure. | 0:02:24 | 0:02:26
That high pressure is going to move a bit as we look into the outlook. | 0:02:26 | 0:02:30
We could well find it shrinking to a certain extent | 0:02:30 | 0:02:32
as that weather front sweeps southward on Wednesday. | 0:02:32 | 0:02:34
A bit of rain on that, quite a few showers following in behind | 0:02:34 | 0:02:38
but once again little or no rain for the south-east of England, | 0:02:38 | 0:02:41
but it will feel quite chilly out there, temperatures 10 or 11 degrees | 0:02:41 | 0:02:45
at best across some northern parts of the UK. | 0:02:45 | 0:02:47
And that takes us into the outlook, then, where we've got the jet stream | 0:02:47 | 0:02:52
to the north and diving down the eastern side | 0:02:52 | 0:02:55
around that area of high pressure, quite an elongated high pressure, | 0:02:55 | 0:02:59
basically the high looks like it's going to be sitting | 0:02:59 | 0:03:02
into the Easter period towards the south-west, | 0:03:02 | 0:03:05
and this is the general weather pattern we're expecting, | 0:03:05 | 0:03:07
so around the high we'll have some north-westerly winds | 0:03:07 | 0:03:10
and that will bring with it some sunshine and some showers, | 0:03:10 | 0:03:14
particularly in the north and north-east. | 0:03:14 | 0:03:16
The position of the high could move a bit further north across the UK | 0:03:16 | 0:03:19
but it is going to be quite cool in those winds, | 0:03:19 | 0:03:21
not a great deal of rain around once again | 0:03:21 | 0:03:23
and closer to the high pressure in the south-west, | 0:03:23 | 0:03:26
this is where we've got the sunshine. | 0:03:26 | 0:03:29 |
