Hello, there. It certainly was a cold start to the day on Tuesday,

0:00:020:00:05

with some sunshine for many but showers soon developed quite widely.

0:00:050:00:08

There was rain, some hail, some sleet

0:00:080:00:09

and we even saw quite a bit of snow.

0:00:090:00:11

There was snow in Staffordshire, settling on the roofs,

0:00:110:00:14

the cars and bushes, but not on the roads.

0:00:140:00:16

A little sunshine there, as well.

0:00:160:00:19

There will be another day of showers

0:00:190:00:21

but the focus shifts to central and eastern parts of England.

0:00:210:00:24

Again, there will be some heavy downpours here.

0:00:240:00:26

Many western areas not having such a bad day.

0:00:260:00:28

Moving north into Scotland, there will be a fair bit of cloud here

0:00:280:00:31

and a little bit of rain to go with that

0:00:310:00:32

but I don't think we will see too much in the way of wintry weather.

0:00:320:00:35

A little bit, over the higher grounds,

0:00:350:00:36

but largely dry through the central Lowlands.

0:00:360:00:38

Northern Ireland, sunny spells and a scattering of showers.

0:00:380:00:41

There will be a few showers and northern England

0:00:410:00:43

but some good spells of sunshine as well.

0:00:430:00:44

It's through the Midlands and more eastern parts of England

0:00:440:00:47

that we will see those showers.

0:00:470:00:48

A few rumbles of thunder, some hail mixed in with that rain.

0:00:480:00:50

The further west you go, the showers become fewer and further between.

0:00:500:00:54

So some good spells of sunshine here.

0:00:540:00:56

Now, the showers that we do see will fade away through the evening.

0:00:560:00:59

We'll see extra cloud and patchy rain drifting in from the Atlantic.

0:00:590:01:03

That will help to keep temperatures up in Scotland,

0:01:030:01:05

Northern Ireland and northern England, too. Frost-free here.

0:01:050:01:07

But further south, it will turn quite chilly.

0:01:070:01:10

Just twos and threes in larger towns and cities and lower than that

0:01:100:01:13

in more rural spots.

0:01:130:01:14

So a touch of frost for some on Thursday morning.

0:01:140:01:17

Thursday itself, though, we have got this weak weather front

0:01:170:01:19

drifting ever southwards on the breeze.

0:01:190:01:21

It is weak because it is close to the centre of high pressure

0:01:210:01:24

just to the west of us.

0:01:240:01:25

After a bright start in the south-east,

0:01:250:01:27

we will see the cloud thickening up

0:01:270:01:29

and maybe a bit of patchy rain later on.

0:01:290:01:31

At the same time it should brighten up in Scotland.

0:01:310:01:34

Temperatures range from about 9C in Aberdeen to around 13 in London.

0:01:340:01:38

The average about 11C in Manchester.

0:01:380:01:40

And if we look at the average temperature,

0:01:400:01:42

from Thursday onwards there is a trend to see something a bit warmer

0:01:420:01:45

but it looks as if the highest temperatures will be coming in

0:01:450:01:48

just after the bank holiday weekend is over.

0:01:480:01:52

But still, it looks like some warmth is on the way.

0:01:520:01:55

Now, as you go through Thursday night into Friday,

0:01:550:01:58

we still have these weak weather fronts draped across the UK.

0:01:580:02:00

I think most of the rain will have fizzled out by this stage.

0:02:000:02:03

There will still be one or two showers dotted around

0:02:030:02:06

but a fair bit of cloud, a little bit of sunshine

0:02:060:02:08

but a good deal of dry and fairly bright weather.

0:02:080:02:10

Temperatures around 11 degrees in Glasgow, 13 or 14 in London.

0:02:100:02:15

And then, as we head towards the start of the weekend,

0:02:150:02:18

we have got a weak weather front drifting towards

0:02:180:02:20

the south-west of the UK.

0:02:200:02:21

It will be the focus for some cloud, maybe a spot or two of rain,

0:02:210:02:24

but I think there is a lot of dry,

0:02:240:02:26

bright weather to be had on Saturday.

0:02:260:02:27

Maybe a shower or two in Scotland but most cases will be fine and dry.

0:02:270:02:31

And then we start to see some big question marks developing,

0:02:310:02:33

Saturday night into Sunday,

0:02:330:02:35

about the behaviour of this area of low pressure.

0:02:350:02:37

At the moment, it looks like we're picking up the winds

0:02:370:02:40

in the south-west of the UK and we will see the cloud thickening up,

0:02:400:02:43

of rain coming in here.

0:02:430:02:44

So maybe not such a great day here.

0:02:440:02:46

That rain moving a little further north and west at the same time

0:02:460:02:48

so many northern and eastern areas at the moment,

0:02:480:02:50

it looks like you will have a pretty reasonable day.

0:02:500:02:53

Then on to the bank holiday.

0:02:530:02:54

Still got that low pressure system drifting northwards,

0:02:540:02:57

we think, at the moment.

0:02:570:02:58

So it may well bring a spell of wind and rain to many parts of the UK.

0:02:580:03:02

However, as you look beyond the bank holiday,

0:03:020:03:04

looks like this area of high pressure

0:03:040:03:06

will be drifting in from the east.

0:03:060:03:08

And that should settle things down eventually.

0:03:080:03:11

It may well start off a bit windy in the north and west of the UK

0:03:110:03:14

but I think that will ease down.

0:03:140:03:16

And then we will see a good deal of sunshine

0:03:160:03:18

coming in with that area of high-pressure.

0:03:180:03:20

And with the sunshine and the winds coming in from the south,

0:03:200:03:22

it is going to get a good deal warmer.

0:03:220:03:23

The big question is just how quickly that transition to something a bit

0:03:230:03:26

warmer is and how high those temperatures are going to go.
