Hello, there. It was a fairly cold and quite a windy day

1:24:441:24:46

across pretty much all parts of the UK.

1:24:461:24:47

But at least there was some sunshine to be had.

1:24:471:24:49

Here's a photo from one of our weather watchers

1:24:491:24:51

in Neath in South Wales. A lovely picture here.

1:24:511:24:54

But it certainly wasn't like that for all,

1:24:541:24:56

because there were some really angry-looking clouds

1:24:561:24:58

across the Midlands, eastern England,

1:24:581:25:00

delivering some hail, rain, sleet and snow.

1:25:001:25:02

Those fade away.

1:25:021:25:03

It turns really cold, actually,

1:25:031:25:05

first thing in the south on Thursday.

1:25:051:25:07

But it will be a bright start here.

1:25:071:25:09

That won't last too long because cloud and patchy rain

1:25:091:25:11

will be sinking its way ever southwards.

1:25:111:25:13

It should brighten and dry up in Scotland in the afternoon.

1:25:131:25:16

We'll see some sunshine coming through.

1:25:161:25:18

Maybe only nine degrees in Aberdeen, but 12 or 13 in Glasgow.

1:25:181:25:20

That's not too bad.

1:25:201:25:21

A fair bit of cloud in Northern Ireland through the afternoon,

1:25:211:25:24

but very little rain to speak of.

1:25:241:25:25

There will be some rain in northern England, the odd heavier burst,

1:25:251:25:28

but most of it is fairly light.

1:25:281:25:29

And after that bright start in the southern-most counties,

1:25:291:25:32

we'll see that cloud drifting in through the afternoon,

1:25:321:25:34

bringing some light and some patchy rain

1:25:341:25:36

and a similar story across Wales.

1:25:361:25:37

Now, as we get on into the evening,

1:25:371:25:39

there's still some rain to be had.

1:25:391:25:40

The old heavier burst for a time,

1:25:401:25:42

but that edges its way south and then tends to fizzle out.

1:25:421:25:45

And the skies will be clearing across some northern parts of the UK

1:25:451:25:47

and we'll see a touch of frost developing in a few rural locations.

1:25:471:25:51

But major towns and cities

1:25:511:25:52

around about four or five degrees at the lowest.

1:25:521:25:55

So a chilly start to Friday, but a bright one for many.

1:25:551:25:58

There is this weak weather front across Wales and the south-west,

1:25:581:26:01

which is going to be a focal point for some thicker cloud

1:26:011:26:03

and maybe a few spots of rain.

1:26:031:26:05

But I think, in many places, it will be fine and dry.

1:26:051:26:07

A bright start for many, but it will be chilly, as I say.

1:26:071:26:10

A shower or two,

1:26:101:26:11

but most places will be fine and dry with variable cloud,

1:26:111:26:14

some spells of sunshine

1:26:141:26:15

and the winds are not particularly strong, either.

1:26:151:26:17

So, with temperatures getting up to 11, 12 degrees

1:26:171:26:19

for Glasgow and Belfast, it's not so bad.

1:26:191:26:21

The top temperature probably in the south-eastern corner

1:26:211:26:23

at 13 or 14 degrees.

1:26:231:26:25

Then through Friday night and on into Saturday,

1:26:251:26:27

our weak weather front just drifts away towards the south.

1:26:271:26:30

Another weather front is trying to push its way

1:26:301:26:32

into the north-west of the UK, but it won't make too much progress.

1:26:321:26:35

A fairly strong southerly breeze.

1:26:351:26:37

The head of that will just keep that rain away from the Western Isles.

1:26:371:26:41

There'll be a few showers, though, cropping up in Scotland.

1:26:411:26:44

Elsewhere, it's a largely dry picture.

1:26:441:26:46

More of a southerly or south-easterly breeze

1:26:461:26:48

developing as you get on into Sunday.

1:26:481:26:50

And notice a little area of low pressure to the south-west.

1:26:501:26:53

That'll be the focal point for some wetter weather.

1:26:531:26:56

That's drifting its way a little bit further north and west,

1:26:561:26:58

getting into Northern Ireland later on.

1:26:581:27:00

The further north and east you go,

1:27:001:27:01

it should stay essentially fine and dry

1:27:011:27:03

and we could get temperatures as high as maybe 16 or 17 degrees.

1:27:031:27:06

And then, as we head on into bank holiday Monday,

1:27:061:27:08

we've still got that south-easterly breeze across the UK.

1:27:081:27:11

That'll be importing some relatively mild air.

1:27:111:27:14

But we've also got an area of rain.

1:27:141:27:16

That'll be drifting its way a little bit further northwards

1:27:161:27:18

and becoming a little bit lighter and more patchy with time.

1:27:181:27:22

And then, as we head on to beyond the bank holiday weekend,

1:27:221:27:25

there might be some early rain on Tuesday.

1:27:251:27:27

But that will soon be out of the way.

1:27:271:27:29

The main thing about the weather after the bank holiday

1:27:291:27:32

is that high pressure is going to be drifting its way in

1:27:321:27:34

across our shores and that's going to settle things down quite nicely,

1:27:341:27:38

after a fairly unsettled bank holiday weekend.

1:27:381:27:40

Afterwards, just in time, things are settling down, a lot of dry weather,

1:27:401:27:44

the winds are going to be quite light, as well, for most places.

1:27:441:27:47

And for most places, as well, it looks like it will be warming up.

1:27:471:27:51

Let's take a look at that warming trend. And this is for the Midlands.

1:27:511:27:55

We'll see temperatures through the weekend

1:27:551:27:57

around about the middle teens.

1:27:571:27:59

But then there is a trend to see those temperatures

1:27:591:28:01

rising by a few degrees, getting up to 16, 17 degrees

1:28:011:28:04

as we head on into the following weekend.

1:28:041:28:06

In some places, particularly to the south of the Midlands,

1:28:061:28:08

it could go a little bit higher than that.
