Hello there. It's been lovely in Western Scotland for several days

0:00:020:00:05

now, plenty of sunshine and some warmth. And we did it again on

0:00:050:00:09

Friday. We saw a good deal of sunshine and temperatures got to

0:00:090:00:12

20 Celsius in the north-west Highlands. Further east, you got

0:00:120:00:15

that breeze coming in across a cool North Sea, so whether you were in

0:00:150:00:18

the sunshine or underneath the cloud, temperatures were only

0:00:180:00:20

11 degrees and we'll see similar contrasts over the coming few days.

0:00:200:00:23

Certainly a lot more cloud in the sky to start the weekend,

0:00:230:00:26

for England and Wales but any rain

0:00:260:00:27

really confined to the far south-west.

0:00:270:00:29

Looks like it will be another lovely day further north in Scotland,

0:00:290:00:32

although the north coasts may well be a bit on the cloudy side

0:00:320:00:35

but the western side again doing very well, some sunshine

0:00:350:00:38

and some warmth, 16 or so in Glasgow, we'll go higher

0:00:380:00:40

than that in the north-west Highlands.

0:00:400:00:42

14 or 15 in Northern Ireland through the afternoon, some

0:00:420:00:45

spells of sunshine. But for northern England, some brighter interludes

0:00:450:00:48

but again cool down that North Sea coast. A lot of cloud through the

0:00:480:00:51

Midlands and across Wales too but generally it's a dry day -

0:00:510:00:54

15 degrees in Cardiff, similar in Exeter, but some rain

0:00:540:00:57

not too far away from Exeter. And that rain, well, it doesn't last

0:00:570:01:00

too long, it will eventually ease away towards the south

0:01:000:01:02

through the evening. And then we're dry pretty much everywhere,

0:01:020:01:05

although through the small hours of the morning we might just see

0:01:050:01:08

a little bit of rain creeping its way into the far north of Scotland.

0:01:080:01:11

And by dawn on Sunday, most of the major towns and cities will be

0:01:110:01:14

around about seven or eight degrees, probably hanging onto

0:01:140:01:17

double figures in the far south-west.

0:01:170:01:19

Second part of the weekend - we've got high pressure in charge

0:01:190:01:22

but there is a bit of a breeze down the eastern coast in particular.

0:01:220:01:25

Further west, the winds will be a good deal lighter.

0:01:250:01:27

And that breeze will bring some low cloud with it and that in

0:01:270:01:30

turn will bring some light rain, a few pockets of drizzle.

0:01:300:01:32

But away from there,

0:01:320:01:34

I think most places will be fine and dry with variable amounts of cloud.

0:01:340:01:37

Some sunshine to be had. And in the sunshine, 15 or 16 degrees,

0:01:370:01:40

not so bad. Could go a few degrees higher than that in

0:01:400:01:42

Northern Ireland but again along that North Sea coast

0:01:420:01:45

it's 10, 11 or 12 degrees. Now as we get on to the start of the

0:01:450:01:47

new week, those isobars get a bit of a squeeze on them into the

0:01:470:01:50

eastern side of the UK.

0:01:500:01:51

So quite a breeze blowing down from the north and north-east on Monday.

0:01:510:01:54

Again bringing some low cloud,

0:01:540:01:56

maybe some pockets of light rain and drizzle.

0:01:560:01:58

But again, away from the east coast, it's dry and bright,

0:01:580:02:01

variable amounts of cloud and a good deal warmer the further south

0:02:010:02:03

and west you go, 16 degrees in Plymouth,

0:02:030:02:06

but again only 10 or 11 along that North Sea coast.

0:02:060:02:09

As we head on into Tuesday, we've still got high pressure

0:02:090:02:12

in charge of our weather, the isobars easing apart,

0:02:120:02:14

so the winds are not quite so strong but there's a noticeable

0:02:140:02:16

breeze for Lincolnshire, East Anglia and the South East.

0:02:160:02:19

A lot of dry weather to be had on Tuesday. Fairly cloudy.

0:02:190:02:22

And again, 11 degrees along that North Sea coast,

0:02:220:02:24

probably getting up to 14s and 15s at the very best.

0:02:240:02:27

Through the middle of the week, high pressure still in charge

0:02:270:02:30

but to the north-west, low pressure is gathering and

0:02:300:02:32

low pressure is gathering to the south-west as well.

0:02:320:02:34

But actually, midweek for most parts it's a decent day,

0:02:340:02:37

maybe a few showers in the far north of Scotland

0:02:370:02:39

but most places will be fine and dry with a top temperature around about

0:02:390:02:42

17 or 18 degrees. And then as we head on to the latter part

0:02:420:02:46

of next week, those areas of low pressure look like

0:02:460:02:49

they'll begin to bring their influence towards us.

0:02:490:02:51

So we are going to see the cloud building, we'll see some rain

0:02:510:02:54

at times and the winds will be picking up as well.

0:02:540:02:56

And there will be some showers to the north-west of the UK as well.

0:02:560:03:00

Now if you're underneath the clouds and you get some rain,

0:03:000:03:03

it will feel on the cool side towards the end of next week.

0:03:030:03:06

We'll be in the low to middle teens, whereas where you get some

0:03:060:03:09

sunshine and there's dry and bright intervals, I think

0:03:090:03:12

we'll be in the upper teens, so it should feel pleasant enough.

0:03:120:03:15

But those temperatures will be up and down as those bands of

0:03:150:03:17

rain move through. So, yes, it is turning a bit more

0:03:170:03:19

unsettled later next week, the winds will be picking up.

0:03:190:03:22

There will be some showers or longer spells of rain,

0:03:220:03:24

but it's certainly not all doom and gloom -

0:03:240:03:26

there should be some drier, brighter and warmer interludes.
