Hello, thanks for joining me. | 0:00:03 | 0:00:05
Let's see what the weather | 0:00:05 | 0:00:06
is doing over the next few days. | 0:00:06 | 0:00:07
Certainly very quiet on the weather front right now. | 0:00:07 | 0:00:10
Clear blue skies though | 0:00:10 | 0:00:11
in the last 24 hours across | 0:00:11 | 0:00:13
many western and northern parts of the UK. | 0:00:13 | 0:00:15
Here's a picture from Monday, Argyll Bute, | 0:00:15 | 0:00:17
but look at the difference | 0:00:17 | 0:00:19
on the North Sea coast there. | 0:00:19 | 0:00:21
Low, grey skies, | 0:00:21 | 0:00:22
a wind off the North Sea, | 0:00:22 | 0:00:24
it really didn't feel pleasant at all. | 0:00:24 | 0:00:26
This is the satellite picture from Monday, | 0:00:26 | 0:00:27
and we are going to see this pattern I think | 0:00:27 | 0:00:29
through the course of Tuesday to an extent, | 0:00:29 | 0:00:31
so many western areas will | 0:00:31 | 0:00:33
have the best of the sunshine | 0:00:33 | 0:00:35
and little or no rain, not just through Tuesday | 0:00:35 | 0:00:37
but through most of the week. | 0:00:37 | 0:00:39
There is a change on the way come Friday, | 0:00:39 | 0:00:41
of course, we'll get to that. | 0:00:41 | 0:00:42
But let's have a look at the Tuesday forecast, | 0:00:42 | 0:00:44
best of the sunshine again | 0:00:44 | 0:00:46
across western areas, | 0:00:46 | 0:00:48
certainly the Western Isles of Scotland | 0:00:48 | 0:00:50
doing beautifully through the afternoon, | 0:00:50 | 0:00:52
same goes for Northern Ireland, | 0:00:52 | 0:00:54
Belfast there, about 15 degrees, | 0:00:54 | 0:00:55
probably even nudging up to about 18 degrees. | 0:00:55 | 0:01:00
Fine weather across most of Wales, | 0:01:00 | 0:01:01
down into the south-west, | 0:01:01 | 0:01:03
however, once again, the further east you are, | 0:01:03 | 0:01:05
the thicker the cloud. | 0:01:05 | 0:01:07
So across the Midlands, Yorkshire, | 0:01:07 | 0:01:09
East Anglia and down into the south-east | 0:01:09 | 0:01:11
looks as though we're going to hang on | 0:01:11 | 0:01:12
to that thicker cloud. | 0:01:12 | 0:01:14
But some of that cloud is going to break up | 0:01:14 | 0:01:16
a little bit through the course | 0:01:16 | 0:01:18
of Tuesday night into Wednesday, | 0:01:18 | 0:01:19
and it will be a chilly one, | 0:01:19 | 0:01:21
so, gardeners be warned, | 0:01:21 | 0:01:23
First thing on Wednesday, | 0:01:23 | 0:01:24
a grass frost in some areas, | 0:01:24 | 0:01:26
in smaller towns and cities, | 0:01:26 | 0:01:28
temperatures could only be | 0:01:28 | 0:01:29
two degrees first thing. | 0:01:29 | 0:01:31
But the sun is very strong in May, | 0:01:31 | 0:01:33
so those temperatures will be shooting up | 0:01:33 | 0:01:35
into the mid or high teens | 0:01:35 | 0:01:37
for some of us on Wednesday. | 0:01:37 | 0:01:39
But then Wednesday into Thursday | 0:01:39 | 0:01:41
we are starting to see | 0:01:41 | 0:01:42
a little change in the atmosphere. | 0:01:42 | 0:01:44
These low pressures start | 0:01:44 | 0:01:45
sneaking in, start swinging in from the south-west, | 0:01:45 | 0:01:48
so that means overall, | 0:01:48 | 0:01:50
increasing amounts of cloud to the south | 0:01:50 | 0:01:52
of us and maybe some spots of rain. | 0:01:52 | 0:01:54
To the north, it still stays dry, | 0:01:54 | 0:01:56
pretty chilly in the Northern Isles, | 0:01:56 | 0:01:58
only nine degrees. Come Friday, | 0:01:58 | 0:01:59
we are expecting a weather front | 0:01:59 | 0:02:01
to come in from the south, a lot of moisture, | 0:02:01 | 0:02:03
a lot of warmth, energy with that as well, | 0:02:03 | 0:02:06
and a potential for some flashes of lightning. | 0:02:06 | 0:02:09
On Friday, I think, | 0:02:09 | 0:02:10
be prepared for at least | 0:02:10 | 0:02:12
a risk of some downpours | 0:02:12 | 0:02:13
across the south of the country, | 0:02:13 | 0:02:15
whereas further north, we are | 0:02:15 | 0:02:17
still going to mostly hang on to | 0:02:17 | 0:02:19
the dry weather, with temperatures | 0:02:19 | 0:02:20
still around 16 degrees in Glasgow. | 0:02:20 | 0:02:22
So after that really dry spell | 0:02:22 | 0:02:24
we have been having, | 0:02:24 | 0:02:25
I think our gardens are going to | 0:02:25 | 0:02:27
get a good watering | 0:02:27 | 0:02:28
towards the end of the week. | 0:02:28 | 0:02:30
And whether you like it or not, | 0:02:30 | 0:02:31
you'll probably see some | 0:02:31 | 0:02:33
thunder and lightning as well. | 0:02:33 | 0:02:34
Into Saturday, the weekend | 0:02:36 | 0:02:37
is looking a little bit mixed. | 0:02:37 | 0:02:39
We're going to see these low pressures | 0:02:39 | 0:02:41
swinging out of the south-west. | 0:02:41 | 0:02:43
This is always a mild direction, | 0:02:43 | 0:02:44
so one thing you will notice, | 0:02:44 | 0:02:45
certainly the winds will pick up | 0:02:45 | 0:02:47
and the rain will arrive, | 0:02:47 | 0:02:48
but those temperatures | 0:02:48 | 0:02:49
are going to rise as well. | 0:02:49 | 0:02:51
And into early next week, this is | 0:02:51 | 0:02:52
the pattern of the jet stream, | 0:02:52 | 0:02:53
so there's a dip in the jet stream, | 0:02:53 | 0:02:55
swinging in from the south-west, | 0:02:55 | 0:02:57
and basically, what that means is | 0:02:57 | 0:02:58
that any pressures that form across | 0:02:58 | 0:03:00
the north Atlantic will be | 0:03:00 | 0:03:02
riding that jet stream and sending spells | 0:03:02 | 0:03:05
of rain in our direction. | 0:03:05 | 0:03:07
But in between the lows, | 0:03:07 | 0:03:08
there will be some dry weather, | 0:03:08 | 0:03:09
and again, those low pressures | 0:03:09 | 0:03:11
are going to be pushing in some warmth. | 0:03:11 | 0:03:13
So certainly, I don't think | 0:03:13 | 0:03:15
we're going to be expecting | 0:03:15 | 0:03:16
a complete write-off as far as | 0:03:16 | 0:03:18
next week is concerned, | 0:03:18 | 0:03:20
but it is going to be | 0:03:20 | 0:03:21
looking on the wet side, | 0:03:21 | 0:03:23
particularly the north-west of | 0:03:23 | 0:03:24
the country and also generally warm. | 0:03:24 | 0:03:27
So a change on the way | 0:03:27 | 0:03:28
after this dry spell we've had. | 0:03:28 | 0:03:30
What would a doctor discover... Hello. Come and meet the doctor. | 0:03:33 | 0:03:36
Hello. .. if they lived with you 24 hours a day? | 0:03:36 | 0:03:38
