Well, the weather really did turn on Monday.

0:00:030:00:04

The clouds rolled in off the Atlantic,

0:00:040:00:06

and we had that wind and the heavy rain.

0:00:060:00:08

It's currently sweeping across the UK.

0:00:080:00:10

But, earlier on,

0:00:100:00:11

we actually had some fairly decent weather as well,

0:00:110:00:13

not necessarily clear blue skies,

0:00:130:00:15

but dry weather across some southern

0:00:150:00:17

and eastern areas of the country.

0:00:170:00:19

Here's one from London earlier on.

0:00:190:00:21

We got a little at the sunshine, but it's clouded over since,

0:00:210:00:23

and now we've got some rain around too.

0:00:230:00:25

And the winds will be increasing.

0:00:250:00:27

They could even become a bit of a problem

0:00:270:00:29

as we go through the course of Tuesday,

0:00:290:00:31

up to gale force, and not just around the coasts -

0:00:310:00:33

really blustery inland as well.

0:00:330:00:35

This is the weather system that's crossing the country right now.

0:00:350:00:38

Then there'll be a break in the next 24 to 48 hours,

0:00:380:00:40

and then another one come Thursday.

0:00:400:00:43

So Tuesday, the low pressure is right over us,

0:00:430:00:46

there's a lot of isobars there,

0:00:460:00:47

so that means the winds will be very strong indeed.

0:00:470:00:50

Now, through the course of the night,

0:00:500:00:51

the winds will rattle our windows

0:00:510:00:53

across some of these western and southern areas,

0:00:530:00:55

the heavier rain will probably transfer

0:00:550:00:57

into northern parts of the country,

0:00:570:00:59

certainly south-western, central, eastern Scotland -

0:00:590:01:01

this is where most of the rain will fall.

0:01:010:01:03

Further south, at least by Tuesday morning,

0:01:030:01:06

the rain's going to be a little bit more patchy,

0:01:060:01:08

a little hit and miss.

0:01:080:01:09

So we're not necessarily expecting a deluge further south

0:01:090:01:12

but it will be blustery.

0:01:120:01:13

And those winds, during the course of lunchtime,

0:01:130:01:15

will be very strong indeed,

0:01:150:01:17

possibly gusting up to 40mph, 50mph,

0:01:170:01:19

maybe even inland.

0:01:190:01:21

Lots of showers around too, but sunny spells as well.

0:01:210:01:24

The cloudier, more dreary weather,

0:01:240:01:26

with more continuous rain, will be across

0:01:260:01:28

these north-eastern and northern areas of the country.

0:01:280:01:31

So here it really will feel quite chilly.

0:01:310:01:33

Temperatures of only 13 degrees,

0:01:330:01:35

and some strong winds on top of that as well.

0:01:350:01:37

And that low pressure just keeps rolling through, only slowly,

0:01:370:01:41

through the course of Tuesday night into Wednesday.

0:01:410:01:43

By the time it's Wednesday,

0:01:430:01:45

the low is sitting in the middle of the North Sea.

0:01:450:01:48

Still, we're being brushed by it,

0:01:480:01:50

so that means that eastern Scotland,

0:01:500:01:52

possibly some of these eastern coasts here

0:01:520:01:54

are getting brushed by the wind and the rain.

0:01:540:01:55

But, for many of us, there's just a window of opportunity

0:01:550:01:58

for some sunshine there -

0:01:580:01:59

London, Birmingham, Manchester, into Glasgow.

0:01:590:02:01

But then the next weather system,

0:02:010:02:03

you can see, hot on its heels, pushing in.

0:02:030:02:05

So Thursday, whilst one low moves out into Scandinavia,

0:02:050:02:09

another one comes in.

0:02:090:02:11

So, yet again, it looks as though we're going to have

0:02:110:02:14

some cloud, rain and increasing winds.

0:02:140:02:15

Now, it looks as though the heavier rain on Thursday

0:02:150:02:19

will be sweeping across western

0:02:190:02:20

and into north-western areas of the UK.

0:02:200:02:23

Further south-east, with these southerly winds,

0:02:230:02:25

if the clouds do break here,

0:02:250:02:27

it could get up to around about 20 degrees or so.

0:02:270:02:30

And then, on Friday, again, a window of good weather develops.

0:02:300:02:34

Again, we're in between weather systems.

0:02:340:02:36

So Friday, actually, for many of us, isn't looking too bad at all,

0:02:360:02:39

but it only will be a one-day wonder.

0:02:390:02:42

Because, by the time we get to Saturday,

0:02:420:02:44

yet another area of low pressure...

0:02:440:02:47

I've lost count of how many lows

0:02:470:02:48

are going to be crossing the country.

0:02:480:02:50

So, next weekend,

0:02:500:02:51

low pressure once again approaching our shores.

0:02:510:02:53

But look at that.

0:02:530:02:54

These are generally south to south-westerly winds,

0:02:540:02:56

so it never really is going to be that cold.

0:02:560:02:58

There will be some rain crossing the country

0:02:580:03:00

during the weekend,

0:03:000:03:01

but at least the temperatures may be fairly decent.

0:03:010:03:03

And then the trend into next week.

0:03:030:03:05

Well, the low pressure pulls away,

0:03:050:03:07

might be cool across northern areas,

0:03:070:03:09

but the trend is that the weather will start to dry up.

0:03:090:03:11

Now, these arrows don't necessarily mean it's going to get warm,

0:03:110:03:14

It merely indicates that we'll have high pressure

0:03:140:03:17

building across the UK,

0:03:170:03:19

and that will mean drier and slightly warmer weather.

0:03:190:03:22

But, at this stage, I don't think there's any heat wave on offer.

0:03:220:03:25

That's it from me. Thanks for watching.
