Hello there. Weather for the week ahead is almost stuck in repeat.

0:00:030:00:05

The weather that we saw for the beginning of the working week

0:00:050:00:08

with cloudier conditions,

0:00:080:00:10

with some showers up into the north-west

0:00:100:00:12

but the sunnier conditions further south

0:00:120:00:14

will almost be the same kind of theme

0:00:140:00:16

as we move towards the end of the week,

0:00:160:00:18

with some subtle variations.

0:00:180:00:20

Or by Wednesday, perhaps, not that subtle

0:00:200:00:23

as things could get pretty hot indeed.

0:00:230:00:25

But high pressure across England and Wales

0:00:250:00:27

in the driving seat

0:00:270:00:28

and that's just allowing these frontal systems

0:00:280:00:30

to deflect to the north of that high

0:00:300:00:33

and bring a little more in the way of unsettled weather.

0:00:330:00:35

It could potentially, during Tuesday,

0:00:350:00:37

bring some heavy rain for a time

0:00:370:00:39

across the far north-west of Scotland.

0:00:390:00:40

As it drifts its way steadily eastwards,

0:00:400:00:42

it'll become fragmented and showery.

0:00:420:00:44

Sunny spells and scattered showers for Scotland,

0:00:440:00:46

Northern Ireland and northern England.

0:00:460:00:48

A little more cloud develops

0:00:480:00:50

after a sunny start but it'll be warm in the south,

0:00:500:00:52

with highs of 23 Celsius.

0:00:520:00:54

Now, as we move out of Tuesday into Wednesday,

0:00:540:00:57

the high pressure just drifts a little further over

0:00:570:00:59

to the near continent and allows this area of low pressure

0:00:590:01:02

to start to squeeze in from the Atlantic

0:01:020:01:05

and where the two meet together could turn pretty interesting.

0:01:050:01:08

We could potentially drag up some very warm air from the Azores,

0:01:080:01:12

right across the country,

0:01:120:01:14

but particularly warm

0:01:140:01:15

or even hot in that south-eastern corner.

0:01:150:01:18

So there'll hardly be a cloud in the sky on Wednesday

0:01:180:01:21

across England and Wales,

0:01:210:01:23

perhaps the best day of the working week

0:01:230:01:24

if you like the sunshine and the heat.

0:01:240:01:27

Further north and west, again, on the breezy side,

0:01:270:01:29

with showery outbreaks of rain here.

0:01:290:01:31

But highs, potentially, of 26 or 27

0:01:310:01:34

not out of the question.

0:01:340:01:36

And even some of that warmer air. despite the showers,

0:01:360:01:38

drifting into Scotland,

0:01:380:01:40

with high teens not out of the question too.

0:01:400:01:42

As we move out of Wednesday,

0:01:420:01:44

we could see a few thundery showers

0:01:440:01:46

ahead of that frontal system pushing in

0:01:460:01:48

but it will drive in some slightly fresher conditions

0:01:480:01:51

during the course of Wednesday into Thursday.

0:01:510:01:54

It's a slow-moving, weak affair,

0:01:540:01:56

not that much in the way of showery rain

0:01:560:01:58

and temperatures are not going to going to dip that much

0:01:580:02:00

but we'll see mid-20s in the south-east,

0:02:000:02:03

perhaps high teens further west.

0:02:030:02:06

Now, as we move out of Thursday into Friday,

0:02:060:02:08

we've still got high pressure dominating the story

0:02:080:02:11

across the south, keeping things relatively quiet

0:02:110:02:14

and, again, still these weather fronts toppling over the top.

0:02:140:02:17

So, again, further spells of wet weather,

0:02:170:02:19

bit more of a breeze on Friday into the far north-west,

0:02:190:02:22

with the heaviest of the rain to the north-west of the Great Glen.

0:02:220:02:25

Best of the sunshine in the south-east,

0:02:250:02:27

although a little more cloud generally across England and Wales.

0:02:270:02:30

So, what's been happening?

0:02:300:02:32

Well, the jet stream at the moment is set with

0:02:320:02:34

a defined kink to the west in the Atlantic

0:02:340:02:37

and that's deflecting these areas of low pressure

0:02:370:02:40

across the north of the UK.

0:02:400:02:42

By the weekend, we might see that jet stream evening out a little.

0:02:420:02:45

There is a level of uncertainty as to just

0:02:450:02:48

where it's going to be sitting

0:02:480:02:50

and that will dictate the dry weather to the south

0:02:500:02:52

and the more unsettled weather to the north.

0:02:520:02:54

But not for long because the jet stream reverts back

0:02:540:02:57

to that kink out in the west

0:02:570:02:59

and allows the high pressure to sit across the UK

0:02:590:03:03

and once again drive in some pretty warm or hot air

0:03:030:03:07

across the near continent.

0:03:070:03:09

Low pressure never too far away, though,

0:03:090:03:10

Low pressure never too far away, though,

0:03:100:03:11

so there is going to be a bit more of an uncertainty

0:03:110:03:14

as we get to the longer six to ten day period.

0:03:140:03:14

as we get to the longer six to ten day period.

0:03:140:03:16

But it does look as though we keep the rain at times

0:03:160:03:18

in the north, it'll be dry and warm elsewhere,

0:03:180:03:20

but the question mark is just for how long?

0:03:200:03:24

Of course, we'll firm up on the details on that

0:03:240:03:26

over the next few days. Enjoy.
