Hello there. July is turning out to be a bit of a month of two halves. | 0:00:03 | 0:00:05
For the first two weeks, the weather was often dry and fairly warm too. | 0:00:05 | 0:00:09
Things have been turning much more unsettled over recent days. | 0:00:09 | 0:00:12
Over the past few days, we've seen some heavy downpours, | 0:00:12 | 0:00:14
some flooding problems too. | 0:00:14 | 0:00:15
Here is the scene in County Armagh on Thursday afternoon. | 0:00:15 | 0:00:18
Some heavy downpours there. | 0:00:18 | 0:00:21
We've got low pressure still pretty close by. | 0:00:21 | 0:00:23
In fact, it's moving in to the southwest of the UK | 0:00:23 | 0:00:25
through the course of Friday, | 0:00:25 | 0:00:27
bringing some wet and windy weather. | 0:00:27 | 0:00:28
Then a ridge of high pressure sits out in the Atlantic. | 0:00:28 | 0:00:31
That'll settle the weather down | 0:00:31 | 0:00:32
through the middle of the week, | 0:00:32 | 0:00:33
before more rain arrives later in the week. | 0:00:33 | 0:00:35
So let's take a look at Friday. | 0:00:35 | 0:00:36
With that low pressure moving in from the west, | 0:00:36 | 0:00:38
it'll be a pretty wet day for Northern Ireland, | 0:00:38 | 0:00:41
and also particularly for Wales | 0:00:41 | 0:00:42
and the southwest of England, | 0:00:42 | 0:00:43
where those strong winds are going to be blowing | 0:00:43 | 0:00:45
through much of the day. Further north and east, | 0:00:45 | 0:00:47
it's going to be staying largely dry | 0:00:47 | 0:00:49
for northern Scotland, | 0:00:49 | 0:00:50
right down to the southeast of England. | 0:00:50 | 0:00:51
Temperatures here 23 degrees, | 0:00:51 | 0:00:53
but feeling cooler further west | 0:00:53 | 0:00:54
with the rain and the breeze too. | 0:00:54 | 0:00:56
We could see some surface water flooding | 0:00:56 | 0:00:58
across Wales and the southwest of England. | 0:00:58 | 0:01:00
Overnight and into Saturday, | 0:01:00 | 0:01:01
all that showery rain starts to edge | 0:01:01 | 0:01:03
a little bit further northwards and eastwards | 0:01:03 | 0:01:05
across the country. | 0:01:05 | 0:01:06
It will be a mild start to your weekend. | 0:01:06 | 0:01:08
But the weekend is looking fairly unsettled. | 0:01:08 | 0:01:11
We can still see those rotating winds | 0:01:11 | 0:01:12
in the southwest. | 0:01:12 | 0:01:14
So blustery and showery for parts of Wales, | 0:01:14 | 0:01:15
the southwest of England too. | 0:01:15 | 0:01:17
Further northwards and eastwards across the UK, | 0:01:17 | 0:01:19
we'll also see some of those showers | 0:01:19 | 0:01:21
breaking out during the day. | 0:01:21 | 0:01:22
But not a wash-out, some sunshine in between. | 0:01:22 | 0:01:24
Temperatures 16 to 21 degrees. | 0:01:24 | 0:01:27
Feeling relatively cool for the time of year. | 0:01:27 | 0:01:29
Then heading on into the second half of the weekend, | 0:01:29 | 0:01:32
low pressure starts to drift its way | 0:01:32 | 0:01:34
eventually away from the southwest. | 0:01:34 | 0:01:36
It'll be sitting somewhere out in the North Sea | 0:01:36 | 0:01:38
or the near continent | 0:01:38 | 0:01:39
by the time we get to Sunday. | 0:01:39 | 0:01:40
So with low pressure still not far away, | 0:01:40 | 0:01:42
it's going to be another showery day. | 0:01:42 | 0:01:44
There'll be some brighter spells, but it will be central | 0:01:44 | 0:01:46
and eastern parts of the country | 0:01:46 | 0:01:48
that will be more prone to see | 0:01:48 | 0:01:49
the heavier downpours during Sunday. | 0:01:49 | 0:01:51
Moving through into the new working week, | 0:01:51 | 0:01:53
low pressure stays fairly close by towards the east, | 0:01:53 | 0:01:56
so we could well see a spell of wet and fairly windy weather | 0:01:56 | 0:01:59
around eastern parts of England - | 0:01:59 | 0:02:00
in particular down towards East Anglia, | 0:02:00 | 0:02:02
for instance, quite a blustery, wet sort of day. | 0:02:02 | 0:02:04
Elsewhere, things are much quieter | 0:02:04 | 0:02:06
towards central and western parts of the country. | 0:02:06 | 0:02:08
Temperatures 22 degrees or so. | 0:02:08 | 0:02:10
Things are not looking too bad, in fact, | 0:02:10 | 0:02:12
through Monday and on into Tuesday as well, | 0:02:12 | 0:02:14
as that ridge of high pressure, for a time, | 0:02:14 | 0:02:16
topples in across the UK. | 0:02:16 | 0:02:17
It won't be lasting too long, | 0:02:17 | 0:02:19
but make the most of that dry and settled weather | 0:02:19 | 0:02:21
through the course of Monday into Tuesday too. | 0:02:21 | 0:02:23
Tuesday, with lighter winds, | 0:02:23 | 0:02:25
it's a drier day, more sunshine. | 0:02:25 | 0:02:27
We could see the warmer spots | 0:02:27 | 0:02:28
reaching around 24 degrees or so. | 0:02:28 | 0:02:30
So looking through into the middle part of the week, | 0:02:30 | 0:02:33
with that ridge of high pressure, | 0:02:33 | 0:02:34
things are looking dry and settled for a time, | 0:02:34 | 0:02:36
but low pressure from midweek onwards moves in | 0:02:36 | 0:02:39
once again from the west, or the northwest, | 0:02:39 | 0:02:41
bringing some wet and some windy weather. | 0:02:41 | 0:02:44
So the jet stream is strengthening out in the Atlantic. | 0:02:44 | 0:02:47
As we head towards the latter part of next week | 0:02:47 | 0:02:49
with kinks in that jet stream, | 0:02:49 | 0:02:51
that is what is going to be delivering | 0:02:51 | 0:02:53
those areas of low pressure. | 0:02:53 | 0:02:54
They will be interspersed with some drier, brighter | 0:02:54 | 0:02:57
and showery weather too, but all in all, a pretty unsettled picture. | 0:02:57 | 0:03:01
With the low pressure moving into the north and the west, | 0:03:01 | 0:03:03
it'll be northern and western parts of the UK | 0:03:03 | 0:03:05
that will see the wettest and the windiest of the weather. | 0:03:05 | 0:03:08
Further south and east, you're more likely to see scenes like this, | 0:03:08 | 0:03:11
so slightly drier, brighter and a little bit less windy, all in all. | 0:03:11 | 0:03:15
But through the course of next week, certainly a changeable theme. | 0:03:15 | 0:03:18
We'll have that drier spell through the middle of the week, | 0:03:18 | 0:03:21
but then rain returning later in the week. | 0:03:21 | 0:03:23
After a little bit of slightly warmer weather for a time, | 0:03:23 | 0:03:25
things will remain rather cool for the time of year. | 0:03:25 | 0:03:28
Bye for now. | 0:03:28 | 0:03:29
30 vocal groups clashed in choral combat - | 0:03:30 | 0:03:33
six survivors now face their toughest battles yet | 0:03:33 | 0:03:36
in the live final. | 0:03:36 | 0:03:37

I want to, like, hang out with you guys. | 0:03:39 | 0:03:41
