I'm just going to give you our latest | 0:00:02 | 0:00:04
thoughts on how the weather is going to pan out. | 0:00:04 | 0:00:05
We'll do that in some detail over the next few days. | 0:00:05 | 0:00:08
Then as we push towards that all-important Christmas period | 0:00:08 | 0:00:11
then I'll give you some of the | 0:00:11 | 0:00:12
trends as we see them at the moment. | 0:00:12 | 0:00:14
Looking pretty Christmas-y in some locations at the moment. | 0:00:14 | 0:00:17
The vestiges of what fell last weekend for the most part | 0:00:17 | 0:00:21
still there across Wales and the Midlands. | 0:00:21 | 0:00:23
But a little bit further south than that no great complaints | 0:00:23 | 0:00:27
coming out of Guernsey. | 0:00:27 | 0:00:28
Saturday was a glorious day but there is a change on the way. | 0:00:28 | 0:00:32
It's there from the word go in Scotland, Northern Ireland | 0:00:32 | 0:00:34
and increasingly through the western | 0:00:34 | 0:00:37
side of England down through Wales. | 0:00:37 | 0:00:39
And through the day will push the cloud and wind | 0:00:39 | 0:00:41
and rain ever further east. | 0:00:41 | 0:00:44
But that allows Scotland and Northern Ireland to see | 0:00:44 | 0:00:46
a little bit of sunshine before the day is done. | 0:00:46 | 0:00:49
And a sign of slightly milder conditions trying to | 0:00:49 | 0:00:52
get into most parts of the British Isles. | 0:00:52 | 0:00:54
Although it may not seem that way across East Anglia. | 0:00:54 | 0:00:57
Through the evening and overnight we'll drag that weather front | 0:00:57 | 0:00:59
ever further towards the near continent. | 0:00:59 | 0:01:02
Following behind a ridge of high pressure clearing the skies | 0:01:02 | 0:01:05
and allowing the temperatures to dip away. | 0:01:05 | 0:01:07
I suspect these will be some of the early values as you wake | 0:01:07 | 0:01:10
up on Monday morning. Even in the south it may be a good deal | 0:01:10 | 0:01:13
cooler and fresher than that. | 0:01:13 | 0:01:16
That's Sunday into Monday is the last of the cold air | 0:01:16 | 0:01:19
I think we'll see for a little | 0:01:19 | 0:01:22
while because away to the west is where we're going to be | 0:01:22 | 0:01:24
looking for our weather over the next few days or so. | 0:01:24 | 0:01:28
There's a lot of relatively mild air. | 0:01:28 | 0:01:30
Towards the east bright and crisp but as the day goes on we'll | 0:01:30 | 0:01:34
fill in the cloud across these western areas. | 0:01:34 | 0:01:37
Some of those western spots benefiting straight | 0:01:37 | 0:01:40
away from that milder air. | 0:01:40 | 0:01:42
Pushing the temperatures to 10-11 degrees. | 0:01:42 | 0:01:45
In the first half of the week a lot of dry weather around. | 0:01:45 | 0:01:48
Because of what I've already shown you it will be on the mild side | 0:01:48 | 0:01:51
compared to where some of you have been. | 0:01:51 | 0:01:53
But it will be at the expense of not a lot of sunshine | 0:01:53 | 0:01:57
and quite a bit of cloud. | 0:01:57 | 0:01:58
You see what it's doing for the temperatures, | 0:01:58 | 0:02:01
many more getting closer to the | 0:02:01 | 0:02:03
promised land of double figures. | 0:02:03 | 0:02:05
But as we move from Tuesday on into Wednesday first | 0:02:05 | 0:02:08
signs of a cold weather front | 0:02:08 | 0:02:10
working its way slowly | 0:02:10 | 0:02:11
but surely down and across the British Isles. | 0:02:11 | 0:02:13
It will bring with it the chance of some rain | 0:02:13 | 0:02:16
and I think it will be rain rather than snow. | 0:02:16 | 0:02:19
Still that mild air sits ahead of it primarily. | 0:02:19 | 0:02:22
First signs of the temperatures wanting to dip | 0:02:22 | 0:02:24
away across the northern areas as you become more | 0:02:24 | 0:02:27
dominated by an area of high pressure. | 0:02:27 | 0:02:29
A lot of dry weather. | 0:02:29 | 0:02:31
But it does mean we're going to cool things off relatively speaking | 0:02:31 | 0:02:35
from those lofty heights of a lot of double figures we'll be back | 0:02:35 | 0:02:38
towards upper end single figures as | 0:02:38 | 0:02:41
we get towards the end of the week. | 0:02:41 | 0:02:43
For that we have to thank the fact | 0:02:43 | 0:02:45
that we're still running | 0:02:45 | 0:02:46
the air between the high | 0:02:46 | 0:02:47
pressure in the south | 0:02:47 | 0:02:48
and low pressure further north. | 0:02:48 | 0:02:51
That sets us up with a westerly or south-westerly, | 0:02:51 | 0:02:54
a track that takes over mild waters in the Atlantic. | 0:02:54 | 0:02:57
No signs of a beast from the east bringing in some Siberian chill. | 0:02:57 | 0:03:02
Towards Christmas itself we suspect the high pressure will be | 0:03:02 | 0:03:06
there or there abouts across the south but it may slip away | 0:03:06 | 0:03:09
and that could open the door to a succession of lows. | 0:03:09 | 0:03:13
Some of these could be quite deep | 0:03:13 | 0:03:15
so that offers the prospect of some wet and windy fare | 0:03:15 | 0:03:19
just as we get on towards Christmas but mainly mild, could be cooler | 0:03:19 | 0:03:24
in the north for a time but as I say, potentially for some, | 0:03:24 | 0:03:27
wet and windy. | 0:03:27 | 0:03:28 |
