Hello. After such a cold and at
times snowy week get ready for | 0:00:06 | 0:00:11
something very different next week.
We have seen disruptive snow this | 0:00:11 | 0:00:14
week and it will be thawing very
quickly at the start of next week. | 0:00:14 | 0:00:19
Friday brought heavy snow showers
particularly to the west and | 0:00:19 | 0:00:22
south-west of Scotland. It added to
snow in Northern Ireland and | 0:00:22 | 0:00:27
northern England. There was cold air
but gradually through the weekend | 0:00:27 | 0:00:31
more especially in the start of next
week there was much milder air | 0:00:31 | 0:00:34
taking over the UK for a time. Quite
a few of us will see temperatures | 0:00:34 | 0:00:39
bouncing back into double figures.
As the weekend begins it is cold and | 0:00:39 | 0:00:43
frosty and icy. We have a weather
system just pushing in from the | 0:00:43 | 0:00:46
south-west. Some uncertainty about
how far north it will get. Through | 0:00:46 | 0:00:54
much of Wales, the Midlands and into
the south-east underneath it it will | 0:00:54 | 0:00:58
be really quite cold and more.
Outbreaks of rain and perhaps sleet | 0:00:58 | 0:01:02
or wet snow at times on higher
ground. Brightening up a bit on | 0:01:02 | 0:01:08
Saturday afternoon in Cornwall and
Devon and milder air coming in here. | 0:01:08 | 0:01:11
A sign of things to come at 12
degrees in Plymouth. Just two in | 0:01:11 | 0:01:16
Aberdeen but far fewer snow showers
in Scotland than over recent days. | 0:01:16 | 0:01:19
Just a few in the far west and
north. Cold and in places icy and | 0:01:19 | 0:01:24
frosty night on Saturday night and
another weather system comes in this | 0:01:24 | 0:01:27
is the leading edge of the milder
air. It will make for a wet Sunday. | 0:01:27 | 0:01:32
Outbreaks of rain spread north and
east. | 0:01:32 | 0:01:43 | |
The cold air we will see further
sleet and snow for a time, | 0:01:44 | 0:01:47
particularly in Scotland and
northern England. Bear it in mind if | 0:01:47 | 0:01:49
you are travelling on Sunday. Keep
up-to-date with the latest forecast | 0:01:49 | 0:01:51
because this is where the cold air
will hold on for as long as it | 0:01:51 | 0:01:54
possibly can. Elsewhere things are
turning milder. Once the system | 0:01:54 | 0:01:56
clears the way I'm going into Monday
then the milder air will reach | 0:01:56 | 0:01:59
across most parts. Still trailing
weather front giving outbreaks of | 0:01:59 | 0:02:02
rain across southern areas for a
time on Monday. Elsewhere showers | 0:02:02 | 0:02:06
but quite dry and bright in places
and those temperatures getting | 0:02:06 | 0:02:11
closer to average and by Tuesday
look at these winds, above average. | 0:02:11 | 0:02:17
Central and eastern parts stay
mainly dry but closer to the west | 0:02:17 | 0:02:21
there will be outbreaks of rain in
places. As we go into Wednesday we | 0:02:21 | 0:02:25
will bring a cold front south across
the UK. It will lower temperatures | 0:02:25 | 0:02:30
again for Wednesday and Thursday
with a band of rain moving through | 0:02:30 | 0:02:34
an quite windy with that as well.
Showers following towards the | 0:02:34 | 0:02:38
north-west. Although it is going to
lower temperatures, not to where | 0:02:38 | 0:02:43
they are this week. Just about
average. A cooler feel to things by | 0:02:43 | 0:02:47
the end of Wednesday and into
Thursday and as Friday begins | 0:02:47 | 0:02:51
another weather system from the
Atlantic will bring another wodge of | 0:02:51 | 0:02:54
milder air for us by the end of
Friday and into the following | 0:02:54 | 0:02:58
weekend. This is how next week
shapes up. It will be much milder | 0:02:58 | 0:03:02
for a time with temperatures above
average. Quite a quick thought of | 0:03:02 | 0:03:07
lying snow in places. Smells of rain
and windy weather moving across the | 0:03:07 | 0:03:12
UK but writer gaps in between. Most
of it falls as rain rather than snow | 0:03:12 | 0:03:16
and only the high hills in northern
Britain seeing further snow out of a | 0:03:16 | 0:03:19
few showers. By the end of next week
we have to watch this area of high | 0:03:19 | 0:03:25
pressure to the south. Going into
next weekend, not this | 0:03:25 | 0:03:29 |
