7:02:457:02:48

We'll read as many of your comments out as we can at the end

7:02:487:02:50

-of the show.

-I'm going to walk over here now.

7:02:507:02:53

Over the past few weeks, Radzi and I have been doing our

7:02:537:02:55

cycling challenge. Now there are lots of different strengths.

7:02:557:02:58

Radzi's fast, I've got strength, Radzi's got skill,

7:02:587:03:01

I'm more confident. So, who's going to win? It's time to find out.

7:03:017:03:04

To inspire you to get involved with Sport Relief 2016,

7:03:067:03:09

we've been training hard for a very special challenge.

7:03:097:03:13

-That is so tiring!

-Probably the hardest thing I've done yet!

7:03:137:03:16

It's a wheelie tough challenge we were set by cycling legend

7:03:167:03:20

-Sir Chris Hoy.

-Hi, Barney and Radzi!

7:03:207:03:22

Your Sport Relief challenge is going to push your cycling

7:03:227:03:25

-abilities to the limit.

-We're taking on a mini omnium.

7:03:257:03:29

Basically, it's the best of three different track races -

7:03:297:03:32

the flying lap, the match sprint and the kilo.

7:03:327:03:35

And after three months of training, it's finally race day.

7:03:357:03:40

We'll be competing in front of 3,500 people

7:03:407:03:44

and some of the world's best cyclists. No pressure, then!

7:03:447:03:48

-To help settle our nerves, our coach, Charlie...

-Morning, lads!

7:03:487:03:52

-..has a surprise in store.

-Wow, look at that!

-Look at those!

7:03:527:03:55

Our very own Blue Peter cycling outfits.

7:03:557:03:58

Now we look the part, there's only one thing for it. Let's race!

7:04:007:04:03

First up, the flying lap.

7:04:067:04:08

We will take it in turns to try and set the fastest time on one lap

7:04:087:04:13

around the track. And I'm up first.

7:04:137:04:16

Go up on track. Go on, man!

7:04:167:04:17

Now, all I need to do is remember my training,

7:04:177:04:20

get to the top of the track, build up speed and wait for the bell,

7:04:207:04:23

-before dropping down and going for it on my final lap.

-Come on, Barney!

7:04:237:04:26

Up, up, up!

7:04:267:04:28

No, no, no! Height!

7:04:287:04:30

-Oh!

-I'm not sure why Charlie is shouting at me.

7:04:327:04:36

He timed it wrong.

7:04:387:04:41

But when I hear the bell, I realise my mistake.

7:04:417:04:43

-I've dropped down a lap too early.

-Come on, Barney! Come on!

7:04:437:04:47

I try to sprint for two laps instead of one, but my legs are in agony.

7:04:497:04:54

I can't believe it.

7:04:547:04:55

The one event I've always been strongest at

7:04:557:04:58

and I've thrown it away. I am gutted.

7:04:587:05:00

Is that it?

7:05:007:05:02

Unlucky, Barney. Now it's my turn.

7:05:047:05:07

I keep as high as I can and when it matters, I drop down the bell,

7:05:087:05:13

just as my last lap starts.

7:05:137:05:15

But I go a bit wide on the corner and it has slowed me down!

7:05:197:05:22

Over the line! Come on, Radzi!

7:05:227:05:25

My legs are burning, but I keep on pedalling.

7:05:257:05:28

Come on, Radzi. This is the last bend. I have to go for it now!

7:05:287:05:31

I've done it! Beating Barney by three seconds. That's one to me.

7:05:347:05:39

I just gave that everything. Absolutely everything.

7:05:417:05:44

Next, the match sprint.

7:05:467:05:48

A tactical race, with both riders going head-to-head on track

7:05:487:05:51

sprinting flat-out for the finish.

7:05:517:05:54

And before we hit the track, our training partners,

7:05:547:05:57

Josh and Tilly, arrive to offer some advice.

7:05:577:06:00

Josh, I'm in trouble. What can I do?

7:06:007:06:02

Make sure that you can always see Radzi,

7:06:027:06:04

-so you can anticipate his moves.

-OK. Tilly?

7:06:047:06:07

I think you need to move around the track. Confuse him a little bit.

7:06:077:06:10

-I can do that, I reckon.

-It doesn't take a lot to confuse me!

7:06:107:06:13

-Let battle commence!

-Come on, Barney. Go, Radzi!

7:06:137:06:17

I decide to take the lead early and see what Radzi does.

7:06:177:06:20

-Don't you worry, Barn, I'm close behind.

-I've got you, Radz.

7:06:207:06:24

I'm trying to keep an eye on Radzi,

7:06:247:06:26

but it's hard looking over your shoulder.

7:06:267:06:29

I'm hanging back for a surprise attack.

7:06:297:06:32

As the bell rings, I decide to go for it!

7:06:347:06:38

My only hope is to overtake him on the bend. But again, I go wide!

7:06:387:06:42

I try to catch him, but he's left me so much to do.

7:06:457:06:49

I have no idea where Radzi is any more.

7:06:497:06:52

My head is down and I'm going for the line. And that makes it 1-1.

7:06:527:06:57

I tried so hard to come back at you then!

7:06:587:07:01

You were just absolutely pedal to the metal.

7:07:017:07:05

Once the bell went, I didn't know where you were.

7:07:057:07:08

So, it's one apiece going into the final race.

7:07:087:07:11

But this is more than just a head-to-head.

7:07:117:07:13

This is for Sport Relief.

7:07:137:07:15

Every two years, Sport Relief raises money to help fund projects

7:07:167:07:20

both here in the UK and abroad.

7:07:207:07:23

And we were lucky enough to visit one of those charities

7:07:237:07:25

to find out more about their work.

7:07:257:07:27

We're visiting a project called Wheels For Wellbeing.

7:07:277:07:30

It's a project funded by Sport Relief.

7:07:307:07:32

It aims to give people living with disabilities a real

7:07:327:07:35

sense of freedom and a chance to build confidence.

7:07:357:07:37

They do this by using specially adapted bikes.

7:07:377:07:40

And someone who knows all about how valuable these sessions are is Trey.

7:07:407:07:44

What is it all about?

7:07:447:07:46

What is it that people just love so much about coming here?

7:07:467:07:48

They love to ride round on the bike very fast.

7:07:487:07:52

They like seeing new people.

7:07:527:07:54

So, it's not just about riding a bike here.

7:07:587:08:00

-It's about making new friends, as well, isn't it?

-Yes!

7:08:007:08:02

Because I like keeping people company.

7:08:027:08:05

If they feel lonely, I can just ride with them.

7:08:057:08:10

-This is so much fun!

-Whoa!

7:08:107:08:13

And it's really important to people like Trey.

7:08:137:08:15

So, make sure you get involved with Sport Relief this year.

7:08:157:08:18

The money you raise will go to help projects like this.

7:08:187:08:21

Now, though, it's time to go back to the velodrome

7:08:217:08:24

and settle our challenge once and for all.

7:08:247:08:27

So, I took the flying lap.

7:08:277:08:29

Barney took the sprint. It all comes down to this.

7:08:297:08:34

Only one of us can win this. This is the decider. The kilo.

7:08:347:08:41

Starting from opposite sides of the track,

7:08:417:08:43

we have just four laps to try and catch each other up.

7:08:437:08:46

The first person across the finish line wins.

7:08:467:08:49

You know what you're doing.

7:08:497:08:51

I just want to say, get it all out on the track.

7:08:517:08:54

START SIGNAL BEEPS

7:08:547:08:56

And we're off! I get a better start and pedal as hard as I can.

7:08:567:09:01

-It takes me a while to build my speed.

-Come on!

7:09:017:09:04

-After the first lap, it's neck and neck.

-And I've decided to go for it.

7:09:047:09:09

-But will I last the whole race?

-I'm still in this.

7:09:107:09:15

I just have to keep on pushing.

7:09:157:09:17

-I begin my last lap, but my legs are really starting to tire.

-Me too.

7:09:187:09:23

I'm giving it everything and I have no idea where Radzi is.

7:09:237:09:26

I can just see Barney for the first time. I know I'm catching him.

7:09:267:09:30

I see finish line and I realise I've done it!

7:09:307:09:33

Thank you!

7:09:337:09:35

Radzi may have won, but we have had

7:09:357:09:37

so much fun doing this challenge for Sport Relief.

7:09:377:09:40

So, make sure you get involved.

7:09:407:09:42

The money you raise really does make a difference.

7:09:427:09:45

Ah, I miss Radzi.

7:09:457:09:47

He's on holiday, by the way. Back next week.

7:09:477:09:50

Thank you so much to Charlie, to Sir Chris Hoy, Josh, and Tilly.

7:09:507:09:53

If that's got you thinking about our sporty competition we announced

7:09:537:09:56

last weekend, not long to get in touch. Here's how you do it.

7:09:567:09:59

Our Sport Badge. Thousands of you have one.

7:10:007:10:02

And many of the world's top sports stars wear it with pride.

7:10:027:10:06

For this year's badge,

7:10:067:10:08

we've got together with Team GB for an amazing Blue Peter competition.

7:10:087:10:12

What's so special about it?

7:10:127:10:13

Over to superstar Team GB gymnast Beth Tweddle.

7:10:137:10:17

This one is going to be designed by one of you.

7:10:177:10:19

Your design on one of these! This is huge news! Plus, there's more.

7:10:197:10:26

It's also going to be given to every Team GB athlete that's heading

7:10:267:10:29

out to Rio this summer.

7:10:297:10:31

And we also want you to write our athletes an inspirational message.

7:10:317:10:36

Let's get them motivated.

7:10:367:10:37

Oh, and this will be used in a very cool way. Trust me!

7:10:377:10:44

So, get creating the new badge design and inspirational

7:10:447:10:47

messages and tell us which Team GB athlete inspires you.

7:10:477:10:51

-All the details on the Blue Peter website.

-Get designing!

7:10:517:10:56

Get designing indeed. She is so cool.

7:10:567:10:58

Thank you so much for that, Beth. And well done for being on the mend.

7:10:587:11:01

We're very pleased about that. If you want to enter,

7:11:017:11:03

you haven't got long. Get onto the website now!

7:11:037:11:05

Or wait until after the show and then apply!

7:11:057:11:07

-Yeah! OK, who's ready for some mind-blowing magic?

-Me!

7:11:077:11:12

And live, via satellite, our studio audience today.

7:11:127:11:16

Thank you very much for that. Please give a huge round of applause

7:11:167:11:19

for the sensational Ali Cook! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

7:11:197:11:22

-How you doing? So good to see you.

-Thank you very much.

7:11:227:11:25

So, let's go straight into it. Sleight-of-hand magic -

7:11:257:11:27

-you've got a trick for us?

-Here we go.

7:11:277:11:29

Something with the infamous Blue Peter badge. Have a look at that.

7:11:297:11:32

Make sure it doesn't come apart.

7:11:327:11:34

Yeah. that's a proper badge, isn't it?

7:11:347:11:35

-Yeah, yeah.

-Yeah, OK.

-It doesn't come apart or anything.

7:11:357:11:38

-What I want you to do is hold your hand out flat.

-Yeah.

7:11:387:11:41

-Close your hand to a tight fist around the badge.

-OK.

7:11:417:11:44

-Tight, tight, tight. It's going to vanish from your hand.

-No, it's not!

7:11:447:11:47

-Well, I'll try...

-OK!

-Keep that there. OK?

-Yeah.

7:11:477:11:51

Now, as well as that, I've got one of your other badges here.

7:11:517:11:54

-This is the purple-and-white badge.

-My favourite.

7:11:547:11:56

We're going to come in really close on this. Watch, watch, watch.

7:11:567:11:59

You can see, nothing in the hands. Nothing in the hands.

7:11:597:12:02

Watch the badge.

7:12:027:12:04

And it instantly changes! Into YOUR badge. Now, if I've got

7:12:047:12:09

-YOUR badge...

-No... You think I've got the purple?

7:12:097:12:12

-Slowly open your hand!

-No! OK, let's have a look.

7:12:127:12:15

SHE GASPS

7:12:157:12:16

It's the purple badge! How did you do that?

7:12:167:12:19

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

7:12:197:12:21

That's very good. I was watching very closely. That was amazing.

7:12:217:12:23

I'm very confused. How did you get into magic in the first place?

7:12:237:12:27

What inspired you?

7:12:277:12:28

My mum had a bookshop and I was trapped there working all day

7:12:287:12:31

and then one day a Beginner's Guide To Magic came in and I just

7:12:317:12:34

read it and read it and literally learned every trick in the book.

7:12:347:12:37

And it's not just performing a certain type of trick -

7:12:377:12:40

you're an escapologist, you're an illusionist.

7:12:407:12:42

How would you describe all the different sides that magic has?

7:12:427:12:45

Well, escapology was invented by Houdini,

7:12:457:12:47

who got a bit bored of doing the usual tricks.

7:12:477:12:49

And he thought, "If I tie myself up in chains,

7:12:497:12:51

"throw myself in a tank of water, get out, an audience will love it."

7:12:517:12:54

So, that's escapology.

7:12:547:12:56

And then grand stage illusions - that's when you see, like,

7:12:567:12:59

the boxes in Las Vegas, women get inside, tigers vanish,

7:12:597:13:03

-elephants vanish.

-Yeah, yeah.

-It's all that kind of stuff.

7:13:037:13:06

So, there's going to be a huge trick later on in the show.

7:13:067:13:09

You've got something else to show us, haven't you?

7:13:097:13:12

-Which is very exciting, so I've heard.

-Yes. Very different again.

7:13:127:13:16

-We'll do a bit of psychological magic.

-OK.

7:13:167:13:19

-With my invisible deck of cards. Catch those!

-Thank you.

7:13:197:13:22

-I've got them.

-That was a close call.

-I caught them, don't worry.

7:13:227:13:26

-Shuffle the deck for me.

-Take them out the box first, yeah?

7:13:267:13:30

-Barney...

-What? I'm playing.

-Don't be cheeky.

-OK, shuffling... Hey!

7:13:307:13:34

Come on!

7:13:347:13:36

-OK, they're shuffled.

-Upstaged by a mime! OK, fan the cards out.

7:13:367:13:41

-Fanning them out. Oops, sorry. I dropped one.

-Barney!

7:13:417:13:46

-You're being naughty!

-OK, fanned out...

-So, I just pick one?

7:13:467:13:50

-Any one you want.

-I'm going to go with this one here.

7:13:507:13:52

OK, have a look at your card. Think of any card.

7:13:527:13:55

-But there's no joker in the deck. But any other card.

-Mm-hm.

7:13:557:13:58

-Have you got one in mind?

-Mm-hm.

-Good. Place your card

7:13:587:14:01

face down into the pack, so yours is the only face-down card in the deck.

7:14:017:14:05

-OK.

-Barney, what I want you to do is shuffle those cards for me.

7:14:057:14:08

-Shuffle away.

-Don't show off again.

7:14:087:14:13

Awesome. So glad I chose you.

7:14:137:14:16

-And throw the cards to me as fast as you can.

-Throw them at you?

7:14:167:14:20

-The whole pack. There they are!

-Whoa!

7:14:207:14:23

I keep forgetting about that bit.

7:14:237:14:25

That was amazing. I want one of those. How do you do the fire thing?

7:14:257:14:29

-All right, so you've been thinking of a card.

-Yeah.

7:14:297:14:33

Now, you never took a card. You literally just thought of one.

7:14:337:14:36

And it should be the only upside-down one in the deck.

7:14:367:14:38

No! Stop it!

7:14:387:14:40

So, for the first time, so, Barney knows, as well,

7:14:407:14:42

-what was the card you literally just thought of?

-Seven of spades.

7:14:427:14:46

Seven of spades. OK, I'm going to do this really, really slowly.

7:14:467:14:50

-So you can see absolutely everything.

-You've got to be joking!

7:14:507:14:53

No sleight of hand or anything like that.

7:14:537:14:56

-All the cards really are face upwards.

-Yeah...

7:14:567:14:59

-One card is actually... What was the card again?

-Seven of spades.

7:14:597:15:05

-Yeah, there's one card I keep reversed here.

-No, stop it!

7:15:057:15:09

Would you just reach in there? You have got to be joking!

7:15:097:15:12

-Oh, my goodness!

-CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

7:15:127:15:15

-That's impressive, isn't it?

-Ali, you're amazing!

7:15:157:15:18

We have got one huge trick later in the show, as well, haven't you?

7:15:187:15:21

Yep, we're going to do an amazing stage illusion

7:15:217:15:24

using that crazy box over there.

7:15:247:15:26

For now, though, a huge round of applause for Ali Cook.

7:15:267:15:30

Isn't he awesome? CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

7:15:307:15:33

Magic is so cool. I wish we could do it.

7:15:337:15:36

But now something a little bit different.

7:15:367:15:38

Because, as you may know, Danger Mouse is back.

7:15:387:15:40

It's on CBBC and about a year ago, I was lucky enough to get a part

7:15:407:15:44

written in for me. This is one of my favourite Blue Peter films ever.

7:15:447:15:47

Have a look!

7:15:477:15:49

Yes, it's me, Danger Mouse.

7:15:497:15:51

This daredevil mouse is a top-notch secret agent,

7:15:517:15:53

-whose mission is to save the world from evil.

-I shall rule ze world!

7:15:537:15:59

Last year, along with his trusty sidekick, Penfold...

7:15:597:16:02

-Hee-hee-hee!

-..Danger Mouse returned

7:16:027:16:05

to our screens after almost 25 years.

7:16:057:16:07

THEY LAUGH

7:16:077:16:09

But where do you start when you're bringing an animation to life?

7:16:097:16:12

With pencils, paper and a nifty sketch?

7:16:127:16:14

Well, actually, no.

7:16:147:16:16

First, you start with the voices, and that's where I come in.

7:16:167:16:19

Because today, I'm playing a part that's been

7:16:197:16:21

especially created for me. I'm a bit nervous,

7:16:217:16:24

so I think I need a few pointers.

7:16:247:16:25

All I know is that I'm going to be playing an evil American lizard,

7:16:257:16:29

called Hissteria.

7:16:297:16:31

And who better to help me get into character than Alexander Armstrong

7:16:317:16:35

and Kevin Eldon - the actors who played Danger Mouse and Penfold?

7:16:357:16:38

Tell me a little bit about your characters.

7:16:387:16:41

Danger Mouse is a sort of... He's a bit of a sort of James Bond,

7:16:417:16:43

slightly superhero character. He's a bit annoying.

7:16:437:16:46

-Hm, it all looks a little easy.

-Penfold is his sidekick.

7:16:467:16:50

He's a little hamster. He's quite a scared little, you know, coward.

7:16:507:16:55

-You?! Invented a time machine?!

-So, I'm playing a character today.

7:16:557:16:59

Have you got any top tips for me?

7:16:597:17:01

You've got to just think evil, think lizard. And you'll be there.

7:17:017:17:04

Wish me luck!

7:17:047:17:05

But before I do any recording, the show's voice director, Simon,

7:17:057:17:09

wants to see me. OK, so tell me a bit about my character, Hissteria.

7:17:097:17:13

-What's she like?

-OK, so, Hissteria is a super villain.

-Ah, OK.

7:17:137:17:17

Not just a villain. A super villain.

7:17:177:17:19

In my head, she's kind of green and squinty and kind of...

7:17:197:17:23

Yeah, so if you can just pull that face, like a mask, OK,

7:17:237:17:26

-what does your voice sound like?

-A low one like this.

-I like it!

7:17:267:17:29

-That's good!

-So, this is it.

7:17:297:17:32

One final look through the script and I'm ready.

7:17:327:17:35

-So, really, really go for it.

-OK. Enjoy your certain death!

7:17:357:17:39

-Were going to do it again.

-Enjoy your certain death!

7:17:397:17:42

You really want to ramp it up.

7:17:427:17:44

Simon is really pushing me to get the performance right.

7:17:447:17:49

-But can I deliver?

-No, one more time, please.

-All hail Hydrant!

7:17:497:17:53

-Just put the T on the end of hydrant.

-All hail HYDRANT!

7:17:537:17:55

-HE LAUGHS

-That was really nice!

7:17:557:17:59

I'm exhausted!

7:17:597:18:01

You've really got to use your body and your breath

7:18:017:18:04

and it can really tire you out. But you found the character.

7:18:047:18:08

-And it sounded like she should sound.

-Yes! I'm an evil lizard!

7:18:087:18:12

-You're an evil lizard.

-So, that's the voice of Hissteria

7:18:127:18:16

officially recorded and I cannot wait to see

7:18:167:18:19

what she's going to look like.

7:18:197:18:21

To find that out, I've travelled to Dublin, where the

7:18:217:18:24

Danger Mouse characters come to life.

7:18:247:18:26

Rob is the creative director of the show

7:18:277:18:30

and he's been working on my character, Hissteria.

7:18:307:18:33

-How is she looking? Can I have a little peek?

-Of course you can.

7:18:337:18:37

-That's me!

-It is indeed.

-That's so cool!

7:18:377:18:40

She is me because she's got really short legs and red hair!

7:18:407:18:44

-HE LAUGHS

-What do you reckon? Good likeness?

7:18:447:18:47

It's not just Rob who designs the animation.

7:18:477:18:50

Up to 45 people at a time can be involved in making a single episode.

7:18:507:18:55

So it's only fair I give them a helping hand.

7:18:557:18:58

First up, creating the backgrounds.

7:18:587:19:00

-We've got some buildings here that need to be added in...

-OK.

7:19:007:19:04

It's really hard to use this pen. Oh! Buildings!

7:19:047:19:08

A lamppost! There it is.

7:19:087:19:09

Next, bringing the characters to life. What's an angry eyebrow?

7:19:097:19:13

To be honest, I'm not really sure

7:19:137:19:16

if I'm helping or slowing down the process.

7:19:167:19:19

And, as it can take a whole day to make just one scene,

7:19:197:19:22

I'll leave them to it.

7:19:227:19:23

But here's just a quick look at my character, Hissteria.

7:19:237:19:26

Everyone's evil ideas will be afforded a space in the coming

7:19:267:19:29

apocalypse, OK?

7:19:297:19:31

Sometimes I think having 17 megalomaniacs in one evil

7:19:317:19:34

supergroup is just nuts, you know?

7:19:347:19:37

Anyhoo... Enjoy your certain death!

7:19:377:19:39

I'm sorry, but she's quite a cool villain, isn't she?

7:19:417:19:43

She's actually really cool.

7:19:437:19:45

That was honestly one of my favourite Blue Peter films ever.

7:19:457:19:48

-It's you in real life, though, isn't it, a little bit?

-Stop it!

7:19:487:19:51

-You're a scary frog, Lindsey.

-She's not a frog, she's a lizard!

7:19:517:19:54

-Yes, that's what I said.

-Anyway, from your amazing animation

7:19:547:19:57

onto this week's Big Badge Wall. It's looking so colourful,

7:19:577:19:59

so creative. It's jam-packed as well, isn't it?

7:19:597:20:02

I love things that are jam-packed.

7:20:027:20:03

We love your 3D artwork - stuff that jumps out the page.

7:20:037:20:06

Not literally - that would be well scary.

7:20:067:20:08

But this one by Molly from Hertfordshire is awesome.

7:20:087:20:10

Look, it's a velodrome that spins round.

7:20:107:20:12

-And me and Radzi spin around with it.

-That's so good!

7:20:127:20:14

There is Sir Chris Hoy.

7:20:147:20:16

And if you look in the middle there, you'll see it's all about the badge.

7:20:167:20:19

-Thank you very much, Molly. You're a genius.

-Barney?

-Yes?

7:20:197:20:22

You will absolutely love this.

7:20:227:20:24

A 3D post and it's from Sydney in Wiltshire and it's me.

7:20:247:20:26

I've got little feathers and I'm dressed up as a flamingo.

7:20:267:20:29

And I've stolen your catchphrase. I'm saying, "I want one!"

7:20:297:20:32

-You can have it.

-And then you've got your spider up there, as well.

7:20:327:20:35

-Amazing. Thank you so much!

-You're a genius.

7:20:357:20:37

Marny has drawn this 3D picture.

7:20:377:20:39

It's me with my new press shot here, as you can see.

7:20:397:20:41

And a very nice, bouncy pancake on the outside of it.

7:20:417:20:43

That's to celebrate the race that I did... It's awesome.

7:20:437:20:46

Thank you so much. There are so many badges to collect.

7:20:467:20:48

If you have yours already, why not go for a different colour?

7:20:487:20:52

All the details are on the website. Check it out. Get involved, please.

7:20:527:20:55

And while you're on the website, why not get involved for Sport Relief?

7:20:557:20:58

You can see we have a big map of giant sweaty socks.

7:20:587:21:01

We want you to send yours in.

7:21:017:21:03

Let us know what you're doing for Sport Relief on one of our sweaty

7:21:037:21:07

sock templates and you will get a little spot up there on the map.

7:21:077:21:10

Now let's find out which books have made the Best Book With Facts

7:21:107:21:13

shortlist for our Blue Peter Book Awards 2016.

7:21:137:21:15

Roll it...

7:21:157:21:17

It's the Blue Peter Book Awards, 2016.

7:21:197:21:21

These are the people that picked the page-turners.

7:21:217:21:23

-ALL:

-Hi!

7:21:237:21:26

They've been reading all six on the shortlist

7:21:267:21:28

and we want their thoughts on the three fact books.

7:21:287:21:32

First up is The Epic Book Of Epicness.

7:21:327:21:35

What weight in insects does the average person accidentally

7:21:357:21:38

swallow in a year? What the world's favourite colour? How many days

7:21:387:21:42

can an albatross keep flying without flapping its wings?

7:21:427:21:45

If you need the answers to tackle teasers like these,

7:21:457:21:47

The Epic Book Of Epicness by Adam Frost is the book for you.

7:21:477:21:51

The info is quirky and the pictures are perky.

7:21:517:21:54

It makes people laugh

7:21:547:21:56

and most people who read it agree with me, as well.

7:21:567:21:59

When I first saw this book, it looked really appealing

7:21:597:22:02

because green is my favourite colour.

7:22:027:22:04

It's got like all these weird pictures on it,

7:22:047:22:06

of, like, aliens and zombies.

7:22:067:22:08

The book is laid out like cartoony and weird, like, styles of writing.

7:22:087:22:13

It makes it really fun to read

7:22:137:22:15

because the way they've written it and laid it out.

7:22:157:22:19

I didn't like this book because it has more pictures than words

7:22:197:22:22

-and they got me a bit confused.

-You should read it!

7:22:227:22:26

My favourite book.

7:22:267:22:27

-It's epic!

-Time for our second book of facts.

7:22:277:22:30

Fact Feed, The Ultimate Book Of Randomly Awesome Trivia,

7:22:327:22:35

dishes you the details.

7:22:357:22:37

Penelope Arlon serves up a square meal of tasty trivia about science,

7:22:377:22:41

animals, plants and the way the world works.

7:22:417:22:43

Plus, you can stuff yourself and your mates full with

7:22:437:22:46

quizzes about incredible adventures, chemicals and volcanoes.

7:22:467:22:50

This is my favourite book because it's got lots of quizzes in

7:22:507:22:53

and it's got lots of photos.

7:22:537:22:55

All the quizzes and facts, they show many different emotions -

7:22:557:23:00

they can make you laugh, they can make you feel sick,

7:23:007:23:04

-they can make you a bit sad.

-When I read it, it was awesome.

7:23:047:23:07

But there's too much pictures - I don't like reading from pictures.

7:23:077:23:10

The most surprising thing in the book is that there is a

7:23:107:23:14

poison called arsenic in brown rice and apple juice.

7:23:147:23:19

-But only a tiny amount.

-Fact Feed. Mm-mm!

7:23:197:23:23

Last on the taster menu, The Silly Book Of Weird And Wacky Words.

7:23:237:23:27

Most books have words, but The Silly Book Of Weird And Wacky Words

7:23:277:23:31

by Andy Seed and Scott Garrett is all about limericks,

7:23:317:23:34

daft song titles and freaky phrases.

7:23:347:23:36

It's chock-a-block with riddles, rhymes, tongue twisters,

7:23:367:23:39

piles of puns and jam-packed with spoonerisms.

7:23:397:23:42

So, you can LUMBLE up your JETTERS. I mean JUMBLE up your LETTERS!

7:23:427:23:45

What I liked about the book is all the jokes and riddles

7:23:457:23:49

and word combinations they use. It's really funny.

7:23:497:23:52

I think it's the funniest book out of all of them.

7:23:527:23:55

But not as interesting, out of all of them.

7:23:557:23:57

I went home with this book and I challenged my brother

7:23:577:24:01

and we could see who can say these tongue twisters the fastest.

7:24:017:24:04

The dung beetle bled black blood...

7:24:047:24:07

Doctor, Doctor, I think I'm a pirate.

7:24:077:24:10

OK, open your mouth and say, "Aarrr!"

7:24:107:24:13

-What do you call a woman with a pond on her head?

-Lily!

7:24:137:24:17

THEY LAUGH

7:24:177:24:19

-I actually read it three times.

-It's tongue-twister-tastic!

-It's silly.

7:24:197:24:25

So, those are the three fact books. Time for us all to...

7:24:257:24:28

-ALL:

-Get reading!

7:24:287:24:31

Yes, get reading.

7:24:317:24:33

We know you're very excited about the Blue Peter Book Awards.

7:24:337:24:35

And also excited about dressing Radzi up. Aren't we all?

7:24:357:24:38

Let's take a look at your three choices - you've got to get involved

7:24:387:24:41

with these. You can actually make him dress up as Harry Potter,

7:24:417:24:44

Where's Wally? or Paddington Bear. Get online and vote right now.

7:24:447:24:47

Now, though, something spectacular. Never seen on UK TV before.

7:24:477:24:50

It's the amazing, the sensational Ali Cook.

7:24:507:24:54

All right!

7:24:547:24:57

I'm going to show you my version of the ancient

7:24:577:24:59

Japanese puzzle box illusion.

7:24:597:25:01

In the traditional version, the old

7:25:017:25:03

magician would form a box out of some blinds, like this.

7:25:037:25:06

He would then ask his eldest daughter to get inside.

7:25:067:25:10

He would then take some sticks, shove them all the way through

7:25:107:25:12

the box, take them out again and hopefully, she was still alive.

7:25:127:25:16

The theory being that while inside the box,

7:25:167:25:18

she was actually transported to the heavens.

7:25:187:25:21

I don't know whether I can transport anybody to another dimension

7:25:217:25:25

this afternoon.

7:25:257:25:26

However, I am going to take a girl and poke her with loads of sticks.

7:25:267:25:30

MUSIC: Take Me Out, by Franz Ferdinand.

7:25:327:25:36

CHEERING

7:26:467:26:51

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

7:26:527:26:56

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

7:27:127:27:16

That was amazing. How good was that? I properly enjoyed that.

7:27:217:27:24

Ali Cook, everybody. The amazing magician, right here in the studio.

7:27:247:27:27

-How good was that?

-If you want some top tips from Ali on how to do

7:27:277:27:30

magic and all sorts of tricks, head to the Blue Peter website.

7:27:307:27:33

There's a few tips there.

7:27:337:27:35

You've got in touch today to talk to us about what you would do

7:27:357:27:38

if you could do magic. That's the wrong one for me to look at.

7:27:387:27:40

-Have a look at this one.

-Cornelian Star Daffodil says,

7:27:407:27:44

"I'd make it so with a simple jump you could travel around the world."

7:27:447:27:47

-A great magic trick!

-Very, very good.

7:27:477:27:49

Star Zone Chips Avocado - yum - says,

7:27:497:27:51

"I would be able to swim in cake, just by saying the work "cake"!"

7:27:517:27:54

-I like that.

-Nice.

7:27:547:27:56

Magenta Crumpet Silkworm - these names are getting better

7:27:567:27:58

by the week, aren't they? - "I would make my room like

7:27:587:28:01

-the TARDIS, so it's actually massive but looks tiny." Nice.

-I like that.

7:28:017:28:04

Fire Opal Baking Puppy says, "I would make stuff move with my eyes."

7:28:047:28:09

-That's like Matilda, you know, when she does the whole thing...

-Yeah.

7:28:097:28:12

-That's good, that.

-To make pancakes.

7:28:127:28:14

This might be my favourite e-mail of all time.

7:28:147:28:17

White Rocking Porpoise says, "I would turn spiders into otters."

7:28:177:28:23

That's got to be one of the best magic tricks I've ever heard.

7:28:237:28:26

-You're a genius.

-A good trick.

7:28:267:28:27

Just time for one more. Ginger Bright Gorilla says,

Make sure you watch next week because you'll see the first part of

We'll also be looking at the best story, as well,

7:28:467:28:49

the top contenders for the Blue Peter Book Awards, 2016.

As well as that,
