On today's show, all the way from America, masters of magic,

6:30:126:30:15

Penn and Teller are performing here in the studio.

6:30:156:30:17

Hip-hop dance champions Ruff Diamond perform a spectacular routine.

6:30:176:30:21

And The Next Step take on an ingenious make challenge.

6:30:216:30:24

All coming up on today's live Blue Peter.

6:30:246:30:27

-Hi!

-Did you just catch us dancing? We like that music. How are you?

6:30:456:30:49

Welcome to Blue Peter. It's a live show.

6:30:496:30:51

We'd like to welcome back Lindsey.

6:30:516:30:53

It is great to be back. I missed you guys.

6:30:546:30:56

You'll find out what I was up to later in the year.

6:30:566:30:59

So make sure you keep watching.

6:30:596:31:01

There's no time to rest because this show is bursting at the seams.

6:31:016:31:04

This is a live show. Want me to prove it?! (BLOWS RASPBERRY)

6:31:046:31:07

You wouldn't get that in a pre-recorded show.

6:31:076:31:09

We want to hear from you. Get in touch.

6:31:096:31:12

Penn and Teller have performed on stages all over the world.

6:31:126:31:15

We want to hear from you. If you could perform on a stage,

6:31:156:31:18

who would it be with and what would you do?

6:31:186:31:21

-Who would you perform with?

-I would be the pianist in Take That.

6:31:216:31:25

-I'd do all the piano playing.

-Would you really?

6:31:256:31:28

It's a big piano if you're playing it up there!

6:31:286:31:31

Let's ask the people here. Who would you perform with?

6:31:316:31:33

I would perform a drum solo with Will Champion.

6:31:336:31:36

-Can you play the drums?

-Yes.

6:31:366:31:38

Great answer. Alfie, who would you perform with?

6:31:386:31:41

I would do a black-flip on a bike with Tony Hawks.

6:31:416:31:44

Ooh, yes, that is a quality answer!

6:31:446:31:48

-Who would you perform with?

-I would do a dance with Hacker and Dodge.

6:31:486:31:51

Do you like them? Are they funny?

6:31:516:31:55

-Amelia?

-I would sing and dance with Little Mix.

-Yes!

-Great band.

6:31:556:31:59

These are all great ideas. We're live so we want to hear from you.

6:31:596:32:02

Head to the website:

6:32:026:32:05

What stage would you perform on, who with and why?

6:32:056:32:09

-We will read out your comments at the end of the show.

-Follow me over here.

6:32:096:32:12

A lovely camera shot to bring you over here.

6:32:126:32:15

If you are loving Help My School Trip Is Magic,

6:32:156:32:17

you will love our next guests.

6:32:176:32:20

They are quite simply geniuses. Genii? Not too sure.

6:32:206:32:23

Give them a huge round of applause. Masters of magic, Penn and Teller.

6:32:236:32:27

APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

6:32:276:32:29

-Hello.

-Hello, hi!

-Welcome to the show.

6:32:336:32:36

-Good to see you.

-Thank you for being here.

6:32:366:32:38

And you're wearing your Blue Peter badge.

6:32:386:32:40

I have the pin right here. I don't think you gave Teller one yet.

6:32:406:32:43

-I'm sorry, I forgot to. But that is yours.

-Teller wants a green one.

6:32:436:32:47

Oh...

6:32:476:32:49

OK, now he has a green one. That's all good.

6:32:496:32:51

That's what we're here to talk about - magic. Now you're on tour.

6:32:516:32:55

Yes, we'll be playing right here in Manchester.

6:32:556:32:58

We will play in Birmingham.

6:32:586:32:59

We'll play London, starting about June 12th

6:32:596:33:03

and going through June 22nd.

6:33:036:33:05

We'll be over here with a lot of the big tricks from Vegas.

6:33:056:33:08

Everything you do is incredible.

6:33:086:33:11

Every time you perform any kind of magic,

6:33:116:33:13

every audience member is staring, wondering, how did they do that?

6:33:136:33:17

And that is the joy of magic. If someone is watching,

6:33:176:33:20

maybe picking up a pack of cards for the first time,

6:33:206:33:22

and wants to be a magician like you, what advice would you give?

6:33:226:33:25

It's a different time from when we learnt. Now you have the internet.

6:33:256:33:29

The internet is the best way to learn anything.

6:33:296:33:31

If you see a trick you like, chances are,

6:33:316:33:34

with some clever searching on the internet,

6:33:346:33:38

you can find the basics of that trick, how to start or how to learn.

6:33:386:33:42

With all that at your fingertips, you want to make sure

6:33:426:33:45

that you look inside your heart

6:33:456:33:47

at the stuff you want to say and also read a lot.

6:33:476:33:50

Even when you can see the video, it's still better to read

6:33:506:33:53

and get that into your imagination. It'll help you develop stuff

6:33:536:33:56

To be successful, you have to try your hardest. You can't cheat at it.

6:33:566:34:01

Well, magic IS cheating. Ha-ha!

6:34:016:34:03

Magic is one thing where you're going to want to cheat!

6:34:036:34:07

You have made a business out of it with a silent partner.

6:34:076:34:10

-You literally have a silent partner.

-Teller doesn't talk when we work.

6:34:106:34:14

He started working silently before he started to work with me.

6:34:146:34:16

When he did magic in school, he got sick of people heckling him.

6:34:166:34:20

He found out that if he just shut up, people grew tired of heckling.

6:34:206:34:24

And also he got interested in the idea of lying without speaking,

6:34:246:34:28

making the audience tell lies to themselves.

6:34:286:34:31

I would love to do an interview with, Teller,

6:34:316:34:33

to see if we could do it for a long amount of time. That would be good.

6:34:336:34:37

I presume you can do magic with absolutely anything?

6:34:376:34:39

You told me to bring these two cans here.

6:34:396:34:41

We have two soda cans here.

6:34:416:34:43

And I'm going to do a trick for you with these two soda cans.

6:34:436:34:46

You know they're both carbonated,

6:34:466:34:48

these two beverages. You can see these hands look normal,

6:34:486:34:52

but actually they have incredible powers over carbonation.

6:34:526:34:56

-Over the fizz in the drink?

-Over the fizz in the drink.

6:34:566:34:59

These are the hands that control the fizz in the drink

6:34:596:35:02

and I want you to pick either one of these two cans.

6:35:026:35:05

OK. Are you doing that thing where you try to make me choose one?

6:35:056:35:08

Maybe I am. You can change if you like.

6:35:086:35:11

That one was closer to you, so maybe you want to take that one.

6:35:116:35:14

You can take the other one further away from you.

6:35:146:35:17

You could go, you want to go with that one?

6:35:176:35:19

I'll take the original one. Let's give it a spin.

6:35:196:35:23

The trick will only work if you happen to pick the exact one.

6:35:236:35:26

-Did you pick the right one?

-Yes.

-Shake it up.

-Shake it?

6:35:266:35:29

Shake it, shake it like a freak, shake it like a freak! Like a freak!

6:35:296:35:33

Shake it! Shake it! Shake it! More, more, shake it! Make it pop!

6:35:336:35:37

-Shake it, shake it, shake it!

-Right.

6:35:376:35:39

-Tired?

-Yeah.

-Shake it some more.

6:35:396:35:42

Hop up and down. Shake it, shake it, shake it. Here's the important part.

6:35:426:35:45

You want to keep track of which one you shook up.

6:35:456:35:47

Place it there. That's the one that's been shaken up,

6:35:476:35:50

that's the one that's placid.

6:35:506:35:52

That's the one that's shaken up, that's the one that's placid, OK?

6:35:526:35:55

So this is the one that's shaken up, this is the one that's placid.

6:35:556:35:59

I can take my hands right here, I take the power of the shaken up one.

6:35:596:36:03

I take all that fizz out, I move it into my body,

6:36:036:36:06

I move it across my body and take all that fizz

6:36:066:36:09

and put it into the one that is placid.

6:36:096:36:12

That's the one that's calm.

6:36:126:36:14

Note that's the one that is full of anxiety,

6:36:146:36:17

that's the one that's shook up.

6:36:176:36:19

For all intents and purposes, you shook that one up

6:36:196:36:21

but this is the one you shook up and when I open this,

6:36:216:36:24

if I didn't have the power of carbonation,

6:36:246:36:26

-when I open this one, it would pop like crazy. Ready?

-Yeah.

6:36:266:36:29

-Nothing to it. Just a refreshing drink.

-Wow. OK.

6:36:296:36:33

And this is the one that was completely placid.

6:36:336:36:37

You hadn't shaken this at all. Not at all. And yet!

6:36:376:36:41

APPLAUSE AND LAUGHTER

6:36:416:36:43

It blows up like this because I have the power of carbonation.

6:36:436:36:47

-There's still some left in there.

-Thank you very much.

6:36:476:36:50

-That's surprisingly cold.

-Refreshing.

-Definitely true.

6:36:506:36:55

You are magic. You took the fizz from one can, put it in the other

6:36:556:36:58

-and I can prove that absolutely.

-You sure can.

6:36:586:37:00

-You'll come back for more later?

-After your wet T-shirt contest.

6:37:006:37:03

I'm going to get a bath first if that's OK.

6:37:036:37:05

A huge round of applause for Penn and Teller.

6:37:056:37:08

We absolutely loved that, didn't we?

6:37:116:37:13

We can't wait to see more from Penn and Teller later in the show.

6:37:136:37:16

Now, fearless outdoor fanatic, Bear Grylls, knows a thing or two

6:37:166:37:20

about survival, so a few weeks ago I went to meet him, armed with

6:37:206:37:23

just your questions to find out a bit more from the man himself.

6:37:236:37:26

Bear Grylls, there is nothing this ex-SAS trooper doesn't know

6:37:286:37:32

about surviving extreme environments.

6:37:326:37:35

He's led record-breaking expeditions to the world's extremes,

6:37:356:37:38

climbed cliffs jumped from helicopters,

6:37:386:37:42

and even eaten scorpions.

6:37:426:37:44

You could say he wrote the book on extreme survival.

6:37:466:37:49

There is one thing this tough guy has never had to contend with.

6:37:496:37:52

And that's me, Lindsey Russell.

6:37:526:37:55

-Hi there, nice to meet you.

-Nice to meet you too.

6:37:556:37:57

Now I've got a bit of a Blue Peter challenge for you today.

6:37:576:38:00

-Can you build a den out of these items?

-Yeah, piece of cake.

6:38:006:38:03

I've got a groundsheet, we'll lay that out on the ground

6:38:086:38:11

so when you sit down, you don't get wet. We've got some rope.

6:38:116:38:14

I always say, if you don't know knots, do lots.

6:38:146:38:17

-Then we've got a duvet cover, love the colour.

-I really like it.

6:38:176:38:20

-Flowery and pink, quite camouflaged.

-This will keep the predators away.

6:38:206:38:25

Grab an acorn, put it inside, and then you see it holds it in place,

6:38:256:38:30

so when you pull it, it's not going to come off.

6:38:306:38:33

And we've got some sticks.

6:38:336:38:35

If you want to know one knot, this is my favourite,

6:38:356:38:37

it's called a clove hitch.

6:38:376:38:39

You make a loop and then another loop, one in front of the other,

6:38:396:38:43

stick through it, pull it tight, and that will secure it.

6:38:436:38:47

Very nice job.

6:38:496:38:50

We are going to make a fire without any matches,

6:38:576:39:00

without any lighter, no blow torches, nothing.

6:39:006:39:03

That would be my first port of call.

6:39:036:39:05

-We're just going to make it with that.

-Wow.

6:39:056:39:07

It's just called a fire steel.

6:39:076:39:09

What you're doing, bring that down and you're striking,

6:39:096:39:11

and you get a flame.

6:39:116:39:13

I'll tell you what, we'll get you to do this. Go.

6:39:136:39:16

You made it look so easy. 'Always stay safe around fire.

6:39:186:39:22

'If you haven't got Bear to help, make sure you grab a grown-up.'

6:39:226:39:25

-Yes!

-You've done it. OK.

6:39:256:39:27

Now we get this onto it and then we get the kindling.

6:39:276:39:30

Now, all fires need three things, it's called the fire triangle.

6:39:306:39:34

It needs heat, fuel and oxygen.

6:39:346:39:36

And if you don't have one of those things, the fire, like you,

6:39:366:39:39

is going to die.

6:39:396:39:41

So this has the heat that came from our initial spark, the fuel,

6:39:416:39:46

in all this nice wood,

6:39:466:39:47

and the reason we do this crisscrossed like a square

6:39:476:39:50

is that it keeps the oxygen going in.

6:39:506:39:52

-Only one thing for it, I think we need a cup of tea.

-Yes!

6:39:526:39:55

Cheers.

6:39:556:39:56

We're going to do something now that I like to call Grilling Bear Grylls.

6:39:566:40:00

Bluegreensparklyacorn says, "What was your most frightening,

6:40:046:40:08

"terrifying, heart-thumping experience?"

6:40:086:40:11

Probably when I broke my back in a free-fall parachute accident.

6:40:116:40:14

-I should have died, but survived.

-Lived to tell the tale.

6:40:146:40:17

Bluenetballelephant says, "What was the naughtiest thing

6:40:176:40:20

-"you did at school?"

-Probably the naughtiest was putting

6:40:206:40:22

somebody's underpants on the top of the school flagpole.

6:40:226:40:25

-It was on the top of this very high spire.

-Did you get told off?

6:40:256:40:29

-Well, they never found out who it was.

-Well, they know now.

6:40:296:40:32

Amberleapinglemur says, "If you were an animal, what would it be?"

6:40:326:40:36

I'd quite like to be my dog, because he has the most nice, relaxed life.

6:40:366:40:40

-He lies on his back, gets his tummy scratched.

-Living the dream.

6:40:406:40:43

In the wild, probably an eagle, just for sheer fun of flying.

6:40:436:40:47

Beryltinyapricot says,

6:40:476:40:49

-"What is the most disgusting thing you've eaten?"

-Probably elephant poo.

6:40:496:40:53

-In the wilds of Kenya.

-Why did you do that?

6:40:536:40:57

You can drink the juice out of elephant dung because they have

6:40:576:41:00

such fast digestion, it's almost sterile when it comes out.

6:41:006:41:03

-It just might save your life, Lindsey.

-I'll bear it in mind.

6:41:036:41:06

Zoocompostgirl says, "Hello, what is your favourite ice cream flavour

6:41:066:41:10

-"and why?" Another really important one here.

-Probably raspberry ripple.

6:41:106:41:15

Quite specific.

6:41:156:41:17

And last but not least, Creamsmilingcondor says,

6:41:176:41:20

"Which animal or insect are you scared of?"

6:41:206:41:23

Is there anything Bear Grylls is scared of?

6:41:236:41:25

I'm careful of tarantulas because their hairs can kill you.

6:41:256:41:29

If you don't cook that tarantula well enough and swallow it

6:41:296:41:32

-and it's still got hairs, it'll kill you.

-I love that you said "cook".

6:41:326:41:35

I was expecting you to say "hold" or "look at one"

6:41:356:41:37

-but you're giving tips on cooking tarantula.

-I've eaten loads!

6:41:376:41:40

They're delicious if you burn them enough.

6:41:406:41:43

Again, I'm going to leave that one to you.

6:41:436:41:45

Bear, thank you. It's been great. Thanks for the den.

6:41:456:41:48

You're probably not going to want to spend any more time camping now!

6:41:486:41:51

No.

6:41:516:41:52

Barney, I don't think you quite got the hang of this camping malarkey.

6:41:546:41:57

I can't quite work it out. But then I don't have a tree,

6:41:576:42:00

do I, or rope or a Bear Grylls,

6:42:006:42:03

for that matter. I look more like a pink ghost. It's not great.

6:42:036:42:07

Let's just do the interview. David, what do you like about...?

6:42:076:42:11

-No, Barney, that's not David, that's Emily.

-I can't see anything.

6:42:116:42:14

-Radzi, you do it.

-I'm not Radzi. There you go, Radz.

6:42:146:42:17

David, you're an outdoor enthusiast.

6:42:176:42:19

What do you get up to when you're outdoors?

6:42:196:42:21

We grow potatoes, beans, onions and more in our lovely garden.

6:42:216:42:25

That's very impressive. In fact, I think we've a picture

6:42:256:42:27

of you in action with Jessica and Emily. There you are,

6:42:276:42:30

planting away at school. That looks very cool.

6:42:306:42:33

And Jessica, you actually won an award, didn't you?

6:42:336:42:35

-Tell us about that.

-We won Young Gardener of the Year 2014.

6:42:356:42:39

Yes to that title! Well done. And Emily, what did you do to earn that?

6:42:396:42:43

We had to design a fun garden

6:42:436:42:45

and I put a rainbow waterfall in mine.

6:42:456:42:48

A rainbow waterfall?! That's amazing.

6:42:486:42:50

High five! Low five! There we go! Well done, guys.

6:42:506:42:53

Yeah, congratulations, guys. You win £1 million. I'm only joking,

6:42:536:42:56

you don't win anything. But you do get a green Blue Peter badge

6:42:566:42:59

which is more than money can buy. Now take a look at this.

6:42:596:43:01

It's called the Badge Wall because it's badge-shaped.

6:43:016:43:04

Have a look and see if you can spot your picture.

6:43:046:43:07

This is how you earn a green Blue Peter badge.

6:43:076:43:10

This is from Thomas from Staffordshire

6:43:106:43:12

and he's made a plaque. He's varnished it

6:43:126:43:14

and it's even double-sided with the green Blue Peter badge.

6:43:146:43:17

Well done, Thomas.

6:43:176:43:19

And then this one here is from Rebecca from Somerset.

6:43:196:43:21

This is all about hedgehogs and how you should keep them safe

6:43:216:43:24

and I couldn't agree with you more,

6:43:246:43:26

but it's a very impressive hedgehog but it's not a hand hedgehog!

6:43:266:43:31

That's what Grace has made there. That is genius, Grace! I love that!

6:43:316:43:34

-He's all fingers.

-Hey!

-What about this one?

-Indeed.

6:43:346:43:38

A few weeks ago I was on the beach, I did a litter pick

6:43:386:43:41

and that's inspired Annabel.

6:43:416:43:43

There's my spring-like hair there, buckets and spades.

6:43:436:43:46

We picked up loads of litter. I think there was about 165 kilos.

6:43:466:43:50

-I don't like the whale.

-You're not a big fan of whales, are you?

6:43:506:43:53

-No, it's scaring me.

-It's a lovely country.

6:43:536:43:56

-You know how this was inspired by what you did?

-Yes.

6:43:566:43:58

Well, Lucy saw Foxes perform on the show last week

6:43:586:44:01

and she didn't draw this because of that, she just drew a fox.

6:44:016:44:04

It's lovely. The eyes are very similar to Foxes',

6:44:046:44:07

and the nose is wet like hers was.

6:44:076:44:08

Thank you very much. It's a brilliant picture.

6:44:086:44:10

Now Anna down here is my favourite this week

6:44:106:44:13

because this is a 3D picture. Anna is nine and from Hampshire.

6:44:136:44:16

And look, this has got a little bit of a 3D bounce, why is that?

6:44:166:44:20

-Because it's spring.

-We write all our own stuff by the way.

6:44:206:44:24

-You can use that one.

-Anna has also written a lovely poem inside.

6:44:246:44:27

Thank you. But this is just genius at the back.

6:44:276:44:30

Her dad is very talented and creative

6:44:306:44:32

and he's actually made the bird box that she drew.

6:44:326:44:35

If you look at the centre of the photo,

6:44:356:44:37

you'll see the bird has made a visit there.

6:44:376:44:39

Congratulations, guys, thanks for sending us your stuff,

6:44:396:44:42

and everyone who has get themselves a green Blue Peter badge.

6:44:426:44:46

Now we absolutely love The Next Step, don't we?

6:44:466:44:48

You might remember that a few weeks ago,

6:44:486:44:50

we had The Next Step here in the studio and after the show,

6:44:506:44:53

I caught up with them and set them a very difficult make challenge.

6:44:536:44:56

Hi, cast of The Next Step. We've got Lamar, Brittany and Trevor.

6:44:576:45:00

Thank you for coming in today.

6:45:006:45:02

It's great to see you're wearing your Blue Peter badges with pride.

6:45:026:45:05

I'm going to show you how to turn this hoodie

6:45:056:45:08

into something pretty cool later. I'm not going to tell you what it is.

6:45:086:45:12

It's going to be a surprise.

6:45:126:45:13

-Is this the kind of thing you would wear to dance class?

-Definitely.

6:45:136:45:16

-For sure.

-I wear this practically every day.

6:45:166:45:19

So we're going to show you how to wear this to dance class

6:45:196:45:21

and turn it into something cool after class.

6:45:216:45:24

If you're feeling hot and sweaty, you can just change it into something.

6:45:246:45:27

Now we are all loving The Next Step in the UK. We are all hooked.

6:45:276:45:30

What is the best thing about being in that show?

6:45:306:45:32

The fact that we get to do what we love as a career, as a job.

6:45:326:45:36

We get to go there every day and just dance.

6:45:366:45:38

I think that's pretty awesome.

6:45:386:45:39

You guys are all fantastic dancers, so for somebody watching who thinks,

6:45:396:45:43

I really want to get into dancing, what's your big piece of advice?

6:45:436:45:46

Just start doing it, honestly. Lamar is a perfect example.

6:45:466:45:49

He never had any training.

6:45:496:45:51

-I'm a self-taught dancer from a very young age.

-Wow!

6:45:516:45:54

I mean, I got the show being self-taught

6:45:546:45:57

-and everything like that.

-Just go for it.

6:45:576:46:00

So try it in your room, try it at home, in the garden.

6:46:006:46:04

-Dance with some people.

-Now we are going to get started.

6:46:046:46:06

I'm going to show you exactly how to make these.

6:46:066:46:08

So watch carefully because you might need to do it later.

6:46:086:46:12

All you need to make this, it is very simple.

6:46:126:46:14

You need a hoodie and elastic bands

6:46:146:46:16

or hair bobbles you might find lying around at home.

6:46:166:46:18

And all the details are on the website

6:46:186:46:21

if you miss any of the instructions:

6:46:216:46:23

But you won't, because it's very simple.

6:46:236:46:25

So the first thing you need to do is take the left arm of your hoodie

6:46:256:46:29

and then just gently get it through the pocket like so.

6:46:296:46:33

So it comes out the other side.

6:46:336:46:35

The next thing you need to do is get the right arm of the hoodie

6:46:356:46:39

and this time you need to put it

6:46:396:46:41

through the left arm so it goes through.

6:46:416:46:43

Now you don't want that to come undone

6:46:436:46:46

so this is where your hair bobbles come in very handy.

6:46:466:46:49

You need to just grab that.

6:46:496:46:51

This is really just to secure it so that the arms

6:46:516:46:54

stay together like so.

6:46:546:46:56

It doesn't have to be neat because the next step - the next step!

6:46:566:47:00

-Ahh!

-No pun intended!

6:47:006:47:02

The next step is fold that through so the arms are in the pockets,

6:47:026:47:05

so it looks like you've got your arms in your pockets. OK?

6:47:056:47:08

Then you need to go to the hood and just really carefully pull

6:47:086:47:12

that together like so until it is as tight as you can get it.

6:47:126:47:15

And then again we need to secure that.

6:47:156:47:17

That is how simple this Blue Peter make is.

6:47:176:47:19

Swivel this upside down.

6:47:196:47:22

Because this is going to be the top of your rucksack.

6:47:226:47:27

No way!

6:47:276:47:29

-How good is that?!

-Cool! You can put stuff in there.

6:47:296:47:33

It's not going to fall out the bottom and you can go to dance class.

6:47:336:47:36

-And you've got a little tail.

-I've got a little tail.

6:47:366:47:39

-That's really creative.

-Not bad, eh?

6:47:396:47:42

Now, guys, it would not be a Blue Peter challenge without

6:47:426:47:44

getting you involved, so I hope you were watching carefully. Were you?

6:47:446:47:47

It is very simple and we need all three of you to have a go

6:47:476:47:51

and see how quickly you could turn your hoodies into a rucksack. Ready?

6:47:516:47:55

On your marks, get set, make.

6:47:576:47:59

Lamar's off to a very neat start.

6:48:016:48:03

Well done, Brittany. Oh, Trevor seems to be in the lead.

6:48:046:48:08

Are you creative, Lamar? Are you good at this kind of thing?

6:48:086:48:11

-Yes, I would say so myself.

-We'll see. He's already on the hood.

6:48:116:48:17

The hood's gone a little bit skew-whiff.

6:48:196:48:22

Brittany, not far behind. Oh!

6:48:256:48:27

Yes! Brittany is the winner!

6:48:326:48:35

-Show us, Brittany. Do a nice spin?

-I want to put some stuff in that.

6:48:356:48:40

Yes.

6:48:406:48:41

Lamar, you've let yourself down. Both of you boys did. Brittany, well done.

6:48:416:48:45

The Next Step, thank you so much for coming in today.

6:48:456:48:48

Remember all the details are on our website:

6:48:486:48:51

Thank you for coming in.

6:48:516:48:53

You know what, we are all hooked to the show.

6:48:536:48:55

We cannot wait to keep watching the episodes. Thank you.

6:48:556:48:57

They are such a nice bunch of guys.

6:49:006:49:01

If you want to catch the next episode of The Next Step,

6:49:016:49:04

you can see it on Monday at 5pm here on CBBC.

6:49:046:49:07

So from one lovely bunch of dancers to another,

6:49:076:49:09

would you please give it up for Ruff Diamond!

6:49:096:49:12

-Wow. Welcome to Blue Peter. How are you?

-We are very good, thank you.

6:49:146:49:19

How did you guys start dancing?

6:49:196:49:21

We were all schoolfriends and we just made use of my mum's dance studio

6:49:216:49:25

when it was empty. And it just went from there.

6:49:256:49:28

How do you go from that level to be the 2013 UK hip-hop champions?

6:49:286:49:32

I'd say, obviously hard work.

6:49:326:49:34

And just studying the history of dance,

6:49:346:49:37

working hard, working together, and being yourself.

6:49:376:49:40

It's really important that you're individual and original.

6:49:406:49:42

And Zac, what's the coolest place you've ever performed?

6:49:426:49:45

We actually performed in Greece.

6:49:456:49:47

A little girl saw us on another TV show

6:49:476:49:51

and her mum flew us all over to Athens to perform at her sweet 16,

6:49:516:49:55

so we got to fly over to Athens, danced at her birthday party

6:49:556:49:59

and got to live in a tennis club for the weekend, which was amazing.

6:49:596:50:04

And bring us right up to the present day, what's next for Ruff Diamond?

6:50:046:50:07

We've been touring a lot, gigging, performing around the country,

6:50:076:50:10

so now we are going to get back into competing

6:50:106:50:12

cos that's where we are at our best.

6:50:126:50:14

And hopefully put on the kind of hip-hop show,

6:50:146:50:17

a bit of hip-hop theatre, something to test ourselves.

6:50:176:50:20

We look forward to that. But before then,

6:50:206:50:22

you've got a very special performance.

6:50:226:50:24

I cannot wait. Take it away.

APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

6:52:386:52:41

What an amazing performance. Thank you very much to Ruff Diamond.

6:52:456:52:48

Radzi taught them everything they know.

6:52:486:52:50

Now, shows and performances come in all shapes and sizes.

6:52:506:52:52

We saw one artform there in dance and now we're going to see magic.

6:52:526:52:56

My personal favourite, there is nobody in the world as good

6:52:566:52:58

as these two, in my opinion. Please give a huge round of applause

6:52:586:53:01

for Penn and Teller.

6:53:016:53:03

APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

6:53:036:53:04

Thank you.

6:53:046:53:06

We're going to do the oldest trick in all of magic, the cups and balls.

6:53:066:53:10

We've travelled all over the world, seen street performers

6:53:106:53:14

all over the world, and just about every magician you ever meet

6:53:146:53:17

has their own version of the cups and balls.

6:53:176:53:19

And the trick doesn't change very much but the props do.

6:53:196:53:22

Like in China, they have these wonderful metal cups,

6:53:226:53:25

handed down generation to generation.

6:53:256:53:28

In India, they have these handcarved wooden cups,

6:53:286:53:31

but we are representing the United States of America

6:53:316:53:34

so we used plastic cups, and aluminium foil balls.

6:53:346:53:39

And in our version of the cups and ball, it starts like this.

6:53:396:53:45

We take the ball, we place it in our hands. We vanish it.

6:53:456:53:48

It appears underneath the cup.

6:53:486:53:51

That's how it's done all over the world.

6:53:516:53:52

We take the ball and we place it in our hands,

6:53:526:53:54

we vanish it and it appears underneath the cup.

6:53:546:53:57

Here's a little variation Teller came up with.

6:53:576:54:00

He takes the ball, places it in his hand,

6:54:006:54:02

shows us where it is in the cup and it still appears underneath the cup.

6:54:026:54:05

Now we take that centre ball

6:54:056:54:07

and place it, visibly, underneath the centre cup,

6:54:076:54:10

the two side balls, they still regroup underneath the centre cup.

6:54:106:54:14

I'm going to come over here, and do a little bit of juggling,

6:54:146:54:17

and while I'm juggling,

6:54:176:54:19

a giant ball appears beneath the centre cup.

6:54:196:54:21

One more giant ball on either side, and, of course,

6:54:216:54:24

for the finish, it's an American baseball.

6:54:246:54:28

And that's the American cups and balls.

6:54:326:54:34

We've been doing the American cups and balls for a while,

6:54:346:54:37

we wanted to kind of zoom in and do a Penn and Teller cups

6:54:376:54:40

and balls, which involves breaking a few rules of magic.

6:54:406:54:44

Now, the first rule of magic is you never do the same trick twice.

6:54:446:54:48

So we are going to do the same trick twice.

6:54:486:54:51

Second rule of magic is you never tell an audience

6:54:516:54:55

how a trick is being done.

6:54:556:54:57

So I'm going to tell you exactly how the trick is being done.

6:54:576:55:01

The third rule of magic is you never let the audience

6:55:016:55:05

see your secret preparation.

6:55:056:55:07

They must not know what is hidden in which pocket.

6:55:076:55:13

And the fourth rule of magic is unwritten.

6:55:136:55:16

We think any magician in the world would agree with us in a second,

6:55:166:55:20

that you never ever do the cups and balls with clear plastic cups.

6:55:206:55:26

So here is the Penn and Teller version of the cups and balls.

6:55:266:55:31

We take the first ball, pretend to place it in our hands,

6:55:316:55:34

having already snuck it underneath the first cup.

6:55:346:55:37

The second ball, simultaneously secreted beneath the cup.

6:55:376:55:40

Place it in our hand and show it.

6:55:406:55:42

The third and final ball, pretend to place it in our hand,

6:55:426:55:45

pretend to place it in the cup, then secretly reveal it.

6:55:456:55:49

Now the second half, three balls on top,

6:55:496:55:52

the centre ball placed in the cup.

6:55:526:55:54

The side balls, we don't need them any more.

6:55:546:55:56

We have three duplicates. I've come over here, and this is not juggling.

6:55:566:56:00

This is misdirection. While you look over here,

6:56:006:56:02

Teller sticks the final ball under.

6:56:026:56:04

One more on either side, and for the finish, it's an American baseball.

6:56:046:56:08

Right there.

6:56:086:56:10

APPLAUSE

6:56:106:56:12

Absolutely amazing. It doesn't matter how many times

6:56:156:56:18

you watch that, it's still incredible.

6:56:186:56:19

And even the bit at the end when you can see in the cups,

6:56:196:56:22

it's still incredible. Absolutely brilliant.

6:56:226:56:24

If you want to try it yourself, we're going to load it

6:56:246:56:26

on the website this evening, so try it out and see how you do.

6:56:266:56:29

-Good luck.

-That's difficult.

6:56:296:56:31

At the beginning of the show, we asked you to get in touch and tell us

6:56:316:56:34

if you could share a stage with anyone, who would it be with

6:56:346:56:36

and what would you do? And the first one is from Pearlcupcakebuzzard.

6:56:366:56:39

Go for it, Amelia. You would share a stage with?

6:56:396:56:43

I would share a stage with Harry Potter and do magic.

6:56:436:56:46

Like Penn and Teller. We like that one.

6:56:466:56:49

Navybluelightningconkers says, "I'd perform with a trapeze artist

6:56:496:56:53

"at a circus and do tricks on a trapeze." Like that a lot.

6:56:536:56:57

Redmusicalseahorse - these names are getting better -

6:56:576:57:00

"I'd share the stage with the National Ukelele Orchestra

6:57:006:57:02

"because they are so amazing and I'd play along with my yellow ukelele."

6:57:026:57:06

Have you ever heard a better idea for a Blue Peter film?

6:57:066:57:09

-I'm doing that one.

-Blueviolettalkativepapaya says,

6:57:096:57:12

"I'd share a stage with Dick and Dom of CBBC

6:57:126:57:14

"and I'd tell jokes with them." They are legends of CBBC.

6:57:146:57:17

Opalminikoala says, "I would sing with Jessie J..." Yes.

6:57:176:57:21

"Because she is my idol. She is the best singer EVER, in capital letters.

6:57:216:57:25

Redbaseballchicken says, "I'd perform with Barney.

6:57:256:57:27

-"He could play the piano and I'd sing."

-We are there.

6:57:276:57:30

Thanks for getting in touch and sending us your e-mails.

6:57:306:57:33

We love to hear from you. Here's what's happening next week.

6:57:336:57:36

Make sure you're around for it. It's a cracker.

6:57:366:57:38

We're going to be joined by celebrity chef, Jamie Oliver.

6:57:386:57:41

He's going to be showing you how to make

6:57:416:57:42

-a yummy and colourful healthy snack.

-You don't want to miss this.
